Rilis feels his lance piece something fleshy, and a slurping sound can be
heard; his lance gets yanked on very hard and threatens to break in his hands.
Some moss starts pouring out, aiming for Loranna-Azura; she snarls and leaps
back a couple feet, then starts shaking the contents of her next potion bottle
on the moss. However, her alchemical weapons can only buy her a temporary reprieve

Arynel closes his eyes, from the Breton's finger tips eminates a soft red light
that slowly begins to fill the tavern. Several scamps begin to fall asleep.

Hakan notices some of the hired help were rushing the tavern's
guests rather than the Scamps, as one comes upon him he gives his overly eager
attacker a swift gauntlet to the face and, releasing his sword and letting it
drop, swings to broad side of his shield at another.
Not wanting to harm the mortals, Louis casts several Calm and Paralyze spells
at them in succession until he runs out of magicka...his restoration potions
were quite far away.

Rilis let go of his lance, pulling out his pipe. He spoke a word
and shoved it onto the moss, which started to catch fire. He jumped back from
the door.
"Ancestors! This better work..."

Ruins
The moss begins to burn in the spot Rilis struck, but the rest of the moss is
rather moist, so the moss keeps coming ...
Then, however, the flame fro mthe pipe increases in intensity without warning,
and more moss begins to dry out. Still, the semi burning mass flops its way
toward everyone.
Tavern
Samson is busily trying not to kill locals and cursing enough to burn out
eardrums.
The two girls rush for the nearest escape access. Ali pauses just long enough
to blow Arynel a kiss and cast a small Absorb Health spell on him, saying
"See you later, hun."
Hakon and Loius both have a confused local swinging sharp things at them ...

"Wish me luck," Allie said. "I'm going to try to
get in."
Slashing before her with the flaming sword, she plunged into the dark,
moss-infested cavern. She could smell green growth everywhere. Was there enough
LIGHT in here for such a thing to grow? It must be the work of the witches.

Louis parries the attacks of the local with his Katana, not
wanting to strike him down.
Hakan comes to the man from behind, using his considerable strength he subdues
the man to the ground and makes him drop his weapon...though the man continues
struggling with all might.
Louis looks at Arynel, "What evil thing have you brought upon us?"
Louis walks over to Arynel helping his collapsed body to sit straight up.

Tavern
Darius and Melanus do what little they can to calm people down; Elaine proves
that in some cases women can be better than men as she essentially re-seduces
the poor local boys with a wink, a saucy toss of her hips, and the liberal
application of a sleeping potion splashed in peoples' faces.
The scamps scamper around but between the blows of Samson and Hakon they really
can't do much, and soon they poof anyway.
Darius sighs " ... Do I have enough to pay for all this damage ..."
Ruins
Allie is bathed in a sickly red light which shines from a sourceclose by; she
hears a woman's voice seethe "Back! The Prince's hall is sacred
ground!"
Rilis hears Loranna-Azura say "Quick; my spell won't aid your pipe forever
..."
The moss is by now drying out enough to start catching fire but is still
something to be reckoned with ...
Posted by: Allerleirauh Oct 21 2004, 05:48 AM
"Yeah, my prince can kick your prince's spotted owl,"
Allie said. She shouted back, "PRINCE RILIS! Back me up in here!"
She rushed towards the source of the light.

Hakan picks the struggling local off the floor and kicks him out
of the tavern, closing the door behind him and locking it with the knob's own
lock, "Come not again to this place lest it be the last you wish to
see!"
"Someone," shouts Louis, "Arynel is not regaining his senses...i
haven't the magicka right now to heal him, he needs potions or other magicks. I
do not believe it is fatal, but his life force is fading gradually as he
sleeps."
Posted by: Nelacar Oct 21 2004, 05:51 AM
Rilis decided to throw a bottle of booze in his pocket at the
creature. It started burning much faster. He ran towards Allie, drawing his
sword and chuckling.
"So I'm your prince?

Allie laughed back. "For the moment, anyway."

Solin, who has been silently weathering the attacks with a
slightly perterbed look on his face, notices that one of his discussion
compainions has collapsed to the ground. Fishing a ring out of his pack he
rises to his feet and points the trinket at Arynel's limp form on the floor. A

The Breton suddenly frowns. "I was having such a wonderful dream, why did
you have to wake me?"

Tavern
Melanus has already begn to clean up, while Darius checks on various people.
Elaine comes over, bringing a platter of healing potions. "In case people
need them."
Ruins
Rilis and Allie see an older woman guarding a sphere of glass on a pedastal;
within the glass is a pulsing red light, which shines outward, but which
somehow takes on the look of tendrile touching and feeding the moss on the
walls ...
Outside, Loranna-Azura closes her eyes for a moment, and Allie can hear her say
Break the sphere; I'll distract that woman ...
The witch brings up her hands - and then a look of dawning horror comes to her
face, paralying her for a second ...
Posted by: NordRogue Oct 21 2004, 05:59 AM
Louis laughs, "My friend, i fear you would have never waken
from such a dream on your own, it was good Solin had this ring with him."
Hakan walks towards Darius, "You'll have a sizeable bill after all this
Lord Darius, might i offer my assistance? Over the years i have accumulated
great wealth, and have little reason to spend much of it. but...we can continue
such a conversation after danger has past, for now, we fight"

Allerleirauh lunged forward, wishing she had her favorite sword
in her hands. This one would do, though. It felt steady and pleasant, as if it
liked its task.
She struck the sphere with all her strength, shattering it.

I awaken to... something. How long have I been out?
I walk into the main tavern to find my Saint gone. I scan the room two, three ,
more times, but she's not about. Needless to say, I panic.
My Lady! I scream to the voids. Where are you?
Without a direction, I run out the tavern, shedding my robe and revealing my
filched Dark Brothehood armor.
I stop. Where do I go? Should I do anything?

Tavern
“Ah, good friend,” Arynel says to Solin still sprawled out on the tavern floor.
“Lorkhan is the hub of the wheel yes? And the hub is the second tower, or
rather, the tower within the tower, yes? Perhaps, from the one, we can see the
other.”
The Breton laughs and points at the ceiling: “The tavern cannot hold.”

Hakan notices the dark-clad man leaving in a rush, "Someone
must go after him...i fear he just may run into more than he realizes is out
there....the good Lady may in fact be safer right now than he out alone,
especially if he is recognized as one of the party members."
Louis pats Arynel on the back, something he rarely does, and stands up walking
to the window and looking outside, things seem very calm for the moment,
"I wish i knew where that infernal wench Ala went to...she should be dealt
with before she causes harm to anyone else."

ignoring the confused looks of the other tavern patrons.

Looking back from the front door, I laugh.
"Witches? You expect me to fear witches? What do you take me for, a
common man?" Lifting my hand to my side, I grip it into a fist. My
opposite hand unsheathes my enchanted Daedric Wakisashi.
"I fear nothing."

Two ranged Absorb Fatigue spells hit the posing fool, as the witches beat feet.
Samson yells " ... Aww, nuts."

The old woman gasps slightly and slumps down; whereupon her robe accidentally

Allerleirauh's ring allowed her to see in the near blackness.
She set her knee on the old lady's prone body, pinning her to the ground.

Tavern
“I would imagine then.” Arynel conjectured. “That if the tavern cannot hold, we
will have broken free from that which binds us yes? Yet how can we find the
tower, we cannot break the earthbones?”
The Breton laughs, his head rocking back and forth.
“Now, is time not one of these which binds us? If so, then the order of the
deed does not matter; you see, if we find the tower, the tavern will not hold
and we are free from its constraints, even time. If we choose to see the tower,
will not time break to make it so?”

In town, chaos greeted her. It seemed her warning to Samson had not protected the

Darius, as the water now seems to be less rough, perhaps we can talk a moment.
I have heard rumor of your financial difficulty...I have in my personal
possession slightly under 700,000 septims. I do not, however, have them here
with me, though i do have about 25,000 in the crate i brought with me, the one
which held the mead. I would be happy to assist you in paying for this

And all of society indulges in a variety
Of scandal, they can handle --

To cause the King to fling

Oh, it's lovely to give your love a single perfect rose
It's lovelier still to do the same not wearing any clothes.
Oh, it's lovely to abandon all your cares and fears and woes

While Louis is outside, dragging in the fatigued man who had collapsed, he saw
a party of horsemen entering the town...He gave a close look and saw that it
was only the tavern patrons who had left, with at the front being that
beautiful Nord woman...he gave a slight sigh and a laugh, relieved that it was
friend and not foe, then continued dragging the man inside, "they warned
him...they surely did," he muttered.

Rilis is now the proud owner of half a dozen sets of colored
female loinclothes, several pieces of cheap jewelry, some potions of various
sorts, one very nice quarterstaff made of fine Dwarven metal ... that used to
be a spear until someone broke the head off, several raunchy books, and
evidence that half the clientelle of the local temples of Diabella were
practicing witches as well.
He also finds a couple magic weapons, some rings with protective charms, and a
book of withcy lore.
Darius says " ... You're a fine man, my friend; that's a very generous
offer. I am humbld and gratified by it ... but you must let me do you a good

"Both are heresey," I tell Arynel. "The stories I
just read are ones I dislike. The story of Nerevar and the merchant is one to
be remembered, mayhaps, but Vivec holds too much sway over Nerevar's actions.
That, and the fact of his wedlock to Molag Bol is another sign on his
corruption..." I resist the urge to spit on the books and look at Loranna.
I grin wryly.
"Yes, I am fine," I say sheepishly. "But that was quite
embarrassing. I am used to fighting Mabrigash, who are much more
straightforward. I was not even aware of these witches presence," Turning
serious, I say, "What about you? I trust everything went well?"

I shift on my heels as I glance about the room again.
"I can guess it would be because off all this?" I ask, gesturing
about the room. "I assume something happened that was... big?"
"Also... do you really want to know about the Ashlander
Witch-Women?
Posted by: Loranna Oct 21 2004, 08:09 AM
"Another attempt on our Lady by Meridia, this time through
her followers here," Loranna explains sadly. "It seems I've become
the center of a storm now. ... And yes, I should know of Ashlander witch women;
I'll be going to Morrowind soon and need to know all I can of it."
Posted by: Glensather Oct 21 2004, 08:17 AM
I close my eyes, thinking back to when I met the Mabrigash...
"The Witches of Vvardenfell. They are found mostly along the eastern
coast, and around the Saint Azura's Coast. They are not savage, but instead
choose to practice magic away from the major Ashlander tribes. They use the
essence of men to do their magic, but it must be one of their choosing. I do
not know if they would accept a woman to stay with them for a time, but if you
are not chosen by them to appear, they may range from indifferent to hostile,
depending on your business."
"From my experience, many are hostile because they use their Gods-given
right to defend themselves from what they see as a threat; which is pretty much
everyone. They use illusion and destruction, preferring to blind their
opponents before draining their life force. My first encounter with three
Mabrigash almost killed me, but a year living among two of them helped me to
understand them."
"They range from group to group, but mostly it is like I have said above.
Many of them are renegades, their tribes exiling them for practicing different
magic from what they are accustomed to. Others are refugees from camps
destroyed. Of all the Ashlanders, they hate outlanders the most, and are less
hesitant than others about killing you. They observe most Ashlander customs,
which are easy to follow."
I take a breath. "But I digress. Should you head for Morrowind soon, my
knowledge of the lands will help you, I am sure. But, most importantly, what
kind of storm are you to be the center of?"
Posted by: Loranna Oct 21 2004, 08:21 AM
Loranna gestures to the town. "This sort, and possibly
worse," she says, glumly. "The other Princes seem to be growing angry
at our Lady for her current situation."
Posted by: Glensather Oct 21 2004, 08:24 AM
"Then what is it I must do to help?" I ask, my eyes
hardening into jewels. "I must protect both you and the Lady. Granted, I
cannot take on a Daedric Prince... but I can still find some way to help you...
the both of you." I smile. "At the very least, I can die knowing it
was in the service of my Lady."
Posted by: Loranna Oct 21 2004, 08:26 AM
Loranna smiles, her eyes shifting to blue-green. " ... An
escort to Morrowind would be wise," she says. "Once there, I'll need
a little bit of time to get situatied, get a feel for how the Dunmer people and
thier non-native neighbors truly are now that the Sharmat is gone ..."
Posted by: Glensather Oct 21 2004, 08:28 AM
"I would be honored to serve as that escort," I say,
bowing low. "I can tell you a little bit of how we are now that the Sixth
House is dead, if you would like. It's only a little, for you have to
experience it yourself."
Posted by: Loranna Oct 21 2004, 08:30 AM
"Share everything you know with me," Loranna says, her
voice slipping to Loranna-Azura's. "I must come to know my chosen people
again ... especially given that I shall be coming to them this time in the body
of their ancient enemy."
Posted by: Glensather Oct 21 2004, 08:42 AM
"Well... there are now two distinct factions of Dunmer in
Morrowind. I will call them the Resurgants and the Preservers."
"The Resurgants include the Ashlander Tribes and House Redoran. They are
all lined up, almost literally, expecting the great war to drive out the n'wah.
A border has been drawn on Vvardenfell bisecting Red Mountain in two. There
have been skirmishes at a lot of the old strongholds, as far east as Felansero
and as far west as Hlormaren, if my directions are correct. The Resurgants are
searching for the Propylon Indexes, in order to invade the Preserver cities
completely. The Nerevarine has held them at bay for as long as possible, but
now they expect their war."
"The Preservers are the Guilds, the Temple, and House Hlaalu. They consist
mostly of Southern Vvardenfell and the Morrowind Mainland. They want to keep
things the way they are: Keep the oulanders and their customs in Morrowind, and
unite the Dunmer with the rest of Tamriel. The Tribunal has expired the
Stronghold Act, and as such Hlaalu House is gearing up for open warfare on
Vvardenfell. The Nerevarine is preparing for war. Balmora, once a beautiful
town, is now littered with both Hlaalu and Imperial guards, and the houses are
rimmed with archers.
"The Resurgants overestimate the Preservers just as much as the Preservers
underestimate the Resurgants. Having seen both, I fear that if war should break
out, a civil war will last for a generation or more." I sigh. "The
Nerevarine is doing all he can. But influence wanes, as does the Temple's.
Bandit groups are everywhere along the Smuggler's Coast. Shrines to the Four
Corners are more common than Imperial Cult altars. Outlanders have been driven
out of Vvardenfell so far, and King Helseth has already run away."
"Morrowind is in a sorry state, right now, my Lady. We are divided now,
thanks to the Nerevarine. They... we need your guidance."

Allerleirauh cocked her head. "I have heard many different
tales of the Nerevarine's politics and alliances. I think the wisest thing I
can say on the subject is that you should not trust anything you hear spoken in
this place about the true nature of the Nerevarine. Tharivor, you consider Lord
Vivec corrupt? You are Hlaalu, are you not?"

Loranna-Azura blinks, looking back and forth between the two.
Samson can be seen in the background running after a couple guards; from their
vigorous arm movements things are progressing swimmingly.

I look at Allie.
"In the event of open war, House Hlaalu has... expanded, so to speak. They
claim to want people of many beliefs, and if I remember correctly, they're even
accepting exiled members of Telvanni, defected bandits, and even known
felons."

"Hlaalu is still backing the Emperor, or rather the Empire,
yes?"
Posted by: Glensather Oct 21 2004, 08:54 AM
"It's been a while since I talked to anyone important in
Hlaalu, but I could say it's a safe bet. They are on the side trying to keep
the Ashlander's from getting their way."
Posted by: Allerleirauh Oct 21 2004, 09:13 AM
"As it happens," Allie said, "In this matter I
side with House Hlaalu. Because I hate Dunmer, and I hate their culture, and
Hlaalu is destined to destroy it."

Loranna-Azura blinks, noting Tharivor starting to look tired
again.
" ... Um, be right back," she says, quietly revealing to her servant
that sleep is a good thing and leading him to a quiet corner in wich to rest,
until someone can take him up to a room.

Solin raises his head from where it is buried in his arm, still
grasping his mug from earlier, he had only intended to rest for a moment.
Somewhat alarmed by Allerleirauh's statement he says, "What?!"
Posted by: Allerleirauh Oct 21 2004, 09:20 AM
"The Dunmer are very tough; they have survived everything,
even their horrible homeland. The only enemy that can destroy the Dunmer is the
Dunmer. And House Hlaalu will remake them into good little Imperial citizens...
who use the Morag Tong to commit unspeakable murders, politely, behind
curtains, like the rest of the Imperials."

Loranna-Azura comes back, watching Allie and Solin curiously.
Posted by: Solin Oct 21 2004, 09:33 AM
"Perhaps or perhaps not," Solin says somewhat
conflicted, "The Dunmer have maintained their traditions for thousands of
year, we coexisted with the Dwemer for a time even, as you said they -- we are
survivers, I do not think that will fade into the night at least not
quickly," he sighs momentarily before continuing, "Though, the Empire
is reaching into Morrowind, such an influx can only bring about change,
although, from my time in Empire I can not say it will be as horrible as you
make it out to be..." and with a quick wink to Allerleirauh,
"Besides, I wouldn't trust a Hlaalu to do anything right."
Posted by: Allerleirauh Oct 21 2004, 09:36 AM
While listening to Solin, Allerleirauh had also been paging
through one of the books Arynel had left on the table. Sermon 12, the wedding
of Vivec and Molag Bal.
"The Hlaalu know very little," she said, "If they think this is
profane."
Posted by: Solin Oct 21 2004, 09:39 AM
"I would most certainly agree with you," Solin replies
smiling, "There is worse in the world."

Allie grinned and looked down, trying not to blush.
"I knew a Breton once who could pull all sorts of surprising things out of
his breast pocket," she said. "My tricks are more limited. I think
breathing the air of this tavern is good for revelations, though. Something
about the winds hereabouts."
She opened the other book, Sermon 5, as if she expected a rabbit to leap out of

"I can make nothing of this," she said, after a moment. Except
that Nerevar was Velothi... "It's late, and you look weary,

of the foolish man who listens only to the base desires of his flesh,
neglecting or outright ignoring the almost obvious spiritual truth before him ..."

she gets an angry, and oddly maternal, look.
"She's not even thirty summers and has only just stepped into your world;
stop throwing lessons at her she's not ready to handle yet! Even he held onto a
grain of Ayem's mercy for his own sons, didn't he?"
She gives a growling sigh. "Just because you've endured great pain doesn't
mean hers is any less terrible to her ..."

Loranna-Azura suddenly moves to press against Allie, reaching up to cradle her

like a tigress.
'The fire is his: let it consume thee,
And make a secret door
At the altar of Padhome,
In the House of Boet-hi-Ah
Where you'll become safe
And looked after.'
Her eyelids tremble. " ... I can try to spark that revelation for you

Loranna-Azura stumbles back, her face confused for a moment ...
Briefly, she looks upset, angry; the tigress feel returns to her eyes. When
Allie asks if Loranna is under her influnece or just born that way, she almost
looks ready to jump on Allie and tear her to pieces ...
... but at that moment, she pauses, and begins to shiver, a look of fearful
recognition coming to her face. Her eyes revert to blue ...
" ... I guess even without my Lady I can still hurt the people I care
about," Loranna sighs. "I'm not who I want to be yet, and trying to
be that woman is causing more trouble than it's curing."
She grimaces, rubbing her temples with one hand. " ... Nothing else I

She shakes her head. "I ... just want to reach out and help others,"

mountain or another that needed to be climbed in eight days because no one
prior to now had managed it in less than ten or some axe made of stone to find
because the last hero who had it slew two orc armies with it and he was going

She blows air out of her cheeks. " ... Looking back, it's hard not to

he needed someone to try and remind him to eat and pay the bar tab and to not
try and bed the mayor's daughter, especially if she were already engaged."

Loranna's shoulders slump. "About half the time," she says, looking a
bit glum. "Even dad realized a seven year old girl is nothing but a
millstone around your neck when you're trying to climb a mountain. For the
really dangerous escapades he'd leave me with the tavern or Diabella temple he
had visited last; I tried following him the first couple times but pretty soon
I learned I could do more for him and avoid getting killed by staying back and
working off his bar tabs. Besides, sometimes the tavernkeeps of priestesses

Loranna begins to laugh. "Oh, if my memory still works, a fair number fo
people pitied me," she says, shaking her head. "I remember whispered
snippets, people saying how it was a shame I had such a worthless wretch of a
father and how I'd be too worn out and wrinkly to make even a passing wench
before I was thirteen and a few other things. Of course, I ended up growing to
be a pretty girl after all so I guess they were wrong. But I'm pretty sure they
were pitying me."
She pauses. "As a kid, I don't think I pitied myself all that much; no
real time you understand. When I got older ... well, when I got older, and
started knowing boys and all that, things seemed to get a little better. That
was right around the time dad didn't come back, and around the time I quietly
dedicated myself to my Lady."
She smiles. "Dusk and Dawn had always been magical times for me; there was
something about both that always made me smile, feel like anything could happen
and if I watched and listened carefully enough I'd see something wonderful. She
was a natural choice for me to turn to. I never wanted to join a coven or ask
for much more than just to be able to always enjoy those magic moments; I'd
make my own private offerings on Hogithum and thank my Lady for letting me see
secrets and revelations in her sacred times and I'd open my heart to her, and I
always knew she heard my prayers."
"Of course," she adds with a wry grin, "I now know that she
regarded my prayers with a detached amusement, but I never begged for power or
anything so she let me have my magic moments and see the secrets and their
revelations therein, and that was enough to make me feel happy, even when one
of my coworkers got the pretty adventurer."

"Do it freely, if you can get away with it... but never unless you know

observing this simple rule."
The barmaid returned with 3 apples, cheese, and half a mince pie. "That

She munches on her apple, her features resuming some of their girlish charm.

Hakan rose from his chair by the door...he was starving...or so
he considered it. Having not eaten much of anything in days, only having
several pints of drink, he walks to the bar counter. Passing by Allerleirauh
and bowing on the way, "Greetings fairlady, i trust you handled yourself
in the battle in a manner befitting a Nord, and surely proved your
mettle." He turned and walked again to the bar, thinking of ordering some
food...but decided he could go without it. Looking up at he tavern's
ceiling..and the rest of the structure, he laughed at the pitiful sight and sought
Darius again to speak with him, "If it's a fair trade you wish, i can
think of nothing you can give me that i truly need, that i don't already have.
However there may be one thing you can assist me with..."
Louis was sitting quietly in his chair by the door, half asleep until the his
sword's scabbard banged against the chair's leg making a loud noise which
stirred him. He had an aweful dream, he knew not why...It was a strange dream
indeed...havoc across Morrowind...the Great houses at war...Imperial Guilds and
the Legions were fighting on the side of House Hlaalu, opposing the Redorans
and Ashlanders who were trying to drive away the outlanders...his dream put him
back in Ald-Ruhn, where he'd been prior to this "party"....He was in
the Mage's Guild, Redoran gaurds were shouting and breaking down the door, it
was only 3 of them though..some of the Guild members inside were killed while a
few teleported away to Balmora, Louis dispatched the three attacking
guards...Running outside with his sword drawn, he saw the Ald-Ruhn Temple was
in flames..with priest assaulting priest...his eyes widened as he saw the
Fighter's Guild building crumble, and the Legionnaires from the nearby fort in
open Melee with the Redoran Guards...it was at this point he woke up, with a
bit of sweat on his brow.

the outskirts of White Haven, it was well known around the area as being a
front for Moon Sugar opperations...which made her feel no remorse when she
burned it to the ground, she had captured a lone Khajiiti who had try to flee the
burning building...with her new-found spear at his throat he finally disclosed
the whereabouts of One and who exactly had taken him, and why...she learned
that he was being transported to the Black Keirgo section of Senchal...she know
prepared for transit to Elysweyr...she had always heard how dangerous the Black

Gradually appearing from the horizon stood the Imperial City,
like the sun rising in the dawn. Baxter was compelled with joy, the sight of
this city was something that always awoke both pride and honor, honor in his
chosen profession. The Journey had been long, with only a minor confrontation.
Harg had seen to that. The Bandits had no idea the strength of that Nord.
Finally arriving at the banks of the great lake, the companions were obliged to
dismount and catch a gondola to the Imperial Palace. The tight canal ways,
arches, and luxurious palaces were a welcome change from the jungle they had
ridden through. But greatest of all was the Imperial Palace. Standing
triumphant over Cyrodil, putting to shame all other palaces of Tamriel.
Their entrance was quick, so as to avoid any scene. Then, leaving the Palace
with an escort of twelve knights, the companions finally put the Scourge with
other famous artifacts of Tamriel. The knights would remain, chosen to aid in
the guard of the artifact, but Harg and Baxter decided on making the return
trip to White Haven. It would be faster this time, as they were to ride with a
convoy on open road, rather than the secret paths they took had taken.

Darius turns to look at Hakon. "Hmm? What might that
be?"
Loranna turns to look over at the man joining their conversation. " ...
Er, hello ..." she says, blushing a little and trying to think of a polite
way to tell him that now is kind of a bad time to be butting in ...
Then, Solom walks in ...
"!" Loranna blinks. " ... Oh Lady ... get a healer ...!"
"What?" Darius says looking over. "Oh dear ..."
"Already on it my lord," Melanus says, bringing over a mop and paying
a local boy to run and fetch the healers. "Elaine, a hand please ..."
"Sure ..." Elaine says, frowning at Melanus's cool attitude - at
least until she notices the faint lines creasing his brow. " ... Hang on
..."
Smason comes over, muttering "We've gotta learn how to throw a party
without getting people killed one of these days ..."
Meanwhile ...
"Ha; the Fist of Harg is almost disapointed that the passing of the
Scourge went so well, and hopes that he and you may find some sport on the way
back worthy of our mettle," Harg grins as he travels with Baxter back to
White Haven the Souther. "With luck there will still be feasting and
merriment when we return, to warm our hearts and our stomachs."

Showering Solom in a spell, "That should keep him alive long enough for

Hakan replies, "You see, up in Soltheim, both Raven Rock and the

sometimes the guards at the fort get useful things from raiding smugglers and
reavers on the island, but still we are often short handed. Although i
sometimes go back to Vvardenfell to retrieve a handful of things from some of
the other forts, it doesn't account for much. I've discussed with the East
Empire Company about sending more trade routes to that island..but they haven't
been living up to promise. I've resorted to handing out my own possessions to
some of my favored legionnaires to fill in the empty spaces, but this isn't
helping everyone clearly. The local Nords on the island from Skaal and Thirsk
don't want to help the Imperials, they think the sooner they run out of

"Greetings everyone!" The Breton exclaims.
With a wave of his arm and a wink of his eye, the Breton conjures up a lute and
begins to sing:
Tis the night that’s merriest?
Or tis the day that’s best?
Whatever games you like to play
You’ll find in Wayrest
The ladies dance all through the night
The men they watch and cheer
For whatever crime you find the best
You’ll find in Wayrest
The day is bright and merry too
If you love to lie and cheat
Whatever codes you wish to test
You can in Wayrest
Whatever deeds you wish to do
Whatever sins to make
Whatever it is I must confess
You’ll find it all in Wayrest

smile wickedly at the thought of having more fun at the Breton traveler's

“It was the injury to his head,” the old man says. “He’s delirious this close

the case to my superiors...yet they turned the other cheek 'If Solstheim needed

simply didn't understand! Politicians...HA! No one dares attack the fort as of
yet...but Fryse Hags, wild animals, and Berserkers assault my men in the wild,
and those damned Reiklings...and to put it bluntly, Imperials don't know how to
live off the land very well, only occasionally they can if forced to for long
periods...and much of the men and women at Raven Rock and Fort Frostmoth are
Imperial...They are using worn armor, cracked shields, and brittle weapons, and
potions are in short supply. It's nearly to the point where we can't even raid
the smugglers anymore unless i go along with them, and all my attempts to get
the Empire to send suitable necessities have failed...they don't seem to want
to send resources unless they're used to make the men of Frostmoth the vanguard

"Tis the way of man: to make the father an idol at the first, the
semblance of perfection. Lo, but time breeds the critical eye, and the
divine must be destroyed, and thus so, the man revealed…"
Loranna glares at Arynel and hisses "Please! Do you mind?"
Then, she blinks, her eyes blue and moist. " ... I'm sorry; I didn't mean

mortal to accentuate his own virtues, for his crimes can scarcely be as vile as
his neighbor’s. So often the bruises of the self are passed over, while the

I'm fine, Loranna-Azura says, her tone suggesting that she's not but
that arguing the point could lead to Daedric Doom being unleashed upon one's

Getting up, Loranna walks over to Arynel and says "Now Arynel, wake up a

Breton begins to play and sing:
Be a good sin-izen from birth to burial
Just follow the lead of our lecherous Uriel
Embrace your ardor with a lack of fear
Bravely, like U the Fifth off in Akavir
A few prissy Imperial think that it’s wrong
But the rulers have ever sang this rude song
The atmosphere’s always hot, even when the wind is chilly
If you hope for a bit of a grope, you must go cyrodilly...

Loranna looks somewhat ready to faint, but she grabs Rilis by the shoulders and

invitation for him to put his foot out and let you trip over it onto the very
road you're so scared of. Now get a hold of yourself; you're a Dinerri and the
son of a Dinerri, and a great warrior for your age to boot."
Her face showing signs of strain, she whispers " ... There's all sorts of
madness; some benign, some not. Intuition is sort of like madness; illogical
inspiration more so; many heores previaled because their devotion to their
cause bordered on obsession. The Daedra aren't good or evil, they simply are -
and they're everything that they are, the good and the bad. It's up to us to
learn how to appreciate the good and how to accept and move beyond the bad, you

"I thought it was rather enjoyable myself, but I do not deem it wise to

The Breton pauses, then sings: "But you see there are children, I must
continue."
"We must end round the bend before it does bore us
No time for a worse verse of perverse Cephorus
Ten races, two genders couldn’t satisfy the lust
Of our most unruly rulers like randy Antiochus
More whora Morihatha, many men had to buy her
Twisted and free, the family tree of old Emper Tiber
Perhaps this song has gone on too long, and is less rude than silly
And all these lays are libelous lies of the chief family cyrodilly..."

Evening has come to Sentinel as B wanders the town. A cool
breeze blows through the streets. It had been many years since his last visit
to this area. In fact, it had been before the kingdoms of Iliac Bay had been
united by the Numidium. B was still getting used to this Numidium effect: When
more than one Numidium was seen in several different places at the same time.
Passing a tavern, B's thoughts drift back to his friends in White Haven. How
were they doing . . . ?
B is suddenly jerked back to reality by something in his satchel. His journal
was calling to him. He had a message from. . .
At that same instant, a noise from behind signals an attacker. As he turns, he
sees the knife tear into his side. As the attacker’s arm moves passed him, B
shift his weight, adding force to the man’s momentum, and causing him to fall
to the ground. B lands a punch on the back of attacker’s head as he lands. B
touches his side and, looking down at his hand, he sees blood.
The thief springs to his feet, rubs the back of his head, and flashes his
knife. “Give me your gold or I’ll cut you again!”
B can see a bead of sweat rolling down the thief’s forehead. As he looks deep
into the attacker’s eyes, they dilate. “You don’t want my money,” B calmly
insists.
The thief’s whole demeanor changes. “I don’t want your money,” he replies.
With a wry smile, B continues, “You have had enough excitement for one night.”
“I’ve had enough excitement for one night.”
“You should go home.”
“I should go home,” responds the thief.
“Good night, friend, and leave your weapon.”
There is a clatter as the knife falls to the ground. The thief turns and heads
back down the alleyway.
Pressing his palm to his side, B’s hand begins to glow. When he removes his
hand, the wound is gone. The only evidence that is left of the attack is the
tear in B’s clothing.
B smiles. He must remember to thank Allerleirauh for warning him of the attack.
Whether she knew it or not, he may have taken one in the back if he hadn’t been
alerted when he was.
B heads back to the inn where he is staying. He has an early appointment
tomorrow morning at Castle Sentinel. But before he goes to sleep, he must write
in his journal.

Allerleirauh noticed the exchange between Rilis and Arynel, but
didn't know what to make of it.
She frowned. She had grown fond of the little Breton bard. In some part of her
mind she had forseen this; it was why she hadn't pushed him too hard with
theological concepts. Not everyone was cut out for CHIM.
But she only knew one way out, once a man had started down this particular
road.
"Don't crawl like the ants," she said to Arynel. "You can go
places that he cannot follow."

"Don't crawl like the ants," she said to Arynel.
"You can go places that he cannot follow."
Arynel stares at Allie.
"I am not yet ready." The Breton says. "Perhaps someday, but not
now."
Posted by: Allerleirauh Oct 22 2004, 03:12 AM
"There is no ready," she said. "As long as
you are content, and harm no one, I shall smile and applaud your songs. If you
are ever frightened and in darkness, come back to us."

Arynel smiles. "Thank you." The Breton says. "From the debths of
my heart, I give my thanks, and my love."

Arynel smiles. "Thank you." The Breton
says. "From the debths of my heart, I give my thanks, and my
love."
Loranna-Azura pokes her head back inside.
" ... Impressive," she says quietly. " ... Now, if you could
explain to me how fresh air is supposed to calm the nerves ..."
Her expression falters for a moment, becoming girlish and very
wretched-looking, but the look passes in a second.

"It is not the air, dear lady." Arynel begins. "It is the space,
it gives one room to clear the mind."
Posted by: Allerleirauh Oct 22 2004, 03:20 AM
"In fact," said Allie playfully, "The air here
sometimes has a life of its own!"
She looked searchingly at Loranna. "What is troubling you? More than usual,
I mean."

She looked searchingly at Loranna. "What is troubling you? More than

" ... The space?" Loranna-Azura says wonderingly. " ... Oh; well
scratch that I guess ..."
Her eyes fade to blue for a moment and she says "I made him angry
..."
"Hush dear; he'd have gotten angry at a passing butterfly being yellow
instead of green," Loranna-Azura's voice says, though her eyes don't
change back.
" ... " Her expression slips back to wretchedness, and she leans on
the wall for a moment for support.
" ... Maybe I need a mortal to explain this to her," she says
quietly. " ... Allie ..."

Allerleirauh listened, waiting for more of an explanation.

QUOTE(Allerleirauh @ Oct 21 2004, 09:26 PM)
Allerleirauh listened, waiting for more of an explanation.
Loranna-Azura breathes in deeply, trying to get a hold of herself.
... She's losing faith in her ability to hold me, she tries to say
aloud, but she can't quite get Loranna's voice to comply ...
" ... Just Solom's death and the children and that song again,"
Loranna says. " ... Seems no matter how I try people get hurt because of
me, but it's silly to let this get to me like this, right? I ... I can't save
the world all by myself, and going and hiding in a cave isn't going to solve
anything either, least of all for my Lady, right?"
She gives a weak smile. " ... It's just nerves then; it'll get better.
That's what all the adventurers say."
See my Lady? I'm okay, Loranna says to Azura. I figured it out
myself; I'll be better. He's just testing me a little to keep me on my toes,
make sure I'm the best vessel for you I can be. That's why he chose me.
Azura whispers Dear ... that's not ...
It'll be okay, you'll see, Loranna says comfortingly, planting a soft
kiss on Azura to quiet her worries.
To the average onlooker, Loranna-Azura's face goes through such a quick
succession of changes that it's hard to follow them all ...

Arynel turned to Loranna/Azura.
"Mystery is beauty, my dear lady." The Breton said. "Beauty is a
word, you are the climax of the word."
Posted by: Allerleirauh Oct 22 2004, 03:42 AM
"You're seeking help in the wrong place," Allie said.
"It's only fair to warn you. I see no reason ANY mortal should serve
daedra, especially not in such a personal way."
Posted by: Loranna Oct 22 2004, 03:49 AM
"You told me that already," Loranna says quietly.
" ... I disagree but I understand why you feel that way - well, I partly
do. Still ... you've already done a lot for me Allie, and I am grateful; I
can't think of a better person than you to have as a friend."
She smiels at Arynel. "And you're sweet, you know that," she adds.
"... Just be careful, okay? Just because I went and did something wild
doesn't mean you should."
Posted by: Arynel Oct 22 2004, 03:51 AM
The Breton smiled at Loranna/Azura. Closing his eyes and tilting
his head back, he lifted his arms a swirling ball of light condensed. The room
grew warm and cozy.

"I've never seen you use magic," Allie said. It was in
her nature to mistrust pleasant things, but she didn't feel alarmed. "Is
this a new thing?"
Posted by: Arynel Oct 22 2004, 03:56 AM
"Not at all, allerleirauh." Arynel answered. "I am no stranger
to the arcane arts."
Posted by: Loranna Oct 22 2004, 03:58 AM
Loranna's eyes revert to blue-green, her expression looking like
it took a bit of an effort to achieve this change. For a few seconds she looks
around, vaguely disqueted.
Then she looks over at Arynel and raises an eyebrow at his magic, her usual
tigress body language back in place.

"I, in a way, am inclined to agree with Allerleirauh,"
said Louis, "no offense milady but i do not believe we mortals should be
worshipping or serving the Daedra...i will admit that Daedra, on rare occasion,
are helpful, but they far too often spread their ways of murder and mistrust
amongst us."
Hakan walks up, listening in, "I, too, agree...never will i dedicate my
life to serving a Daedra Prince of my own free will. However, Lady Loranna has
so far earned my respect...and even her current bodily guest has been known to
be kind at times...i then befriend them both, to act as companion and
associate, or fight by their side...but never will i choose the role of
servant."

“I find myself very interested in the unknown races.” Arynel
began. “Of course the mystery of the Dwemer is well known to many, and there
are other races too, also mysterious, although maybe not quite so much as the
deep elves, the Falmer come to mind. Any thoughts on either, Dwemer of Falmer?
Or perhaps there are others you wish to discuss?"
Posted by: Allerleirauh Oct 22 2004, 04:01 AM
"I suppose you are are a Breton," Allie said.
B's journal felt...somehow heavier than it had a moment ago.
"Please excuse me for a moment," she said, and stepped outside the
tavern. She tucked Archie's leaf into her belt and vanished. The leaf seemed to
be drying out; would it still work when it was entirely dry?
She took the journal over to a streetlamp, and opened it.

The city of Sentinel, another famous city of Tamriel. This would
mark the end of the long and eventless land journey from Cyrodil. Baxter was
very pleased with this. The sea was comfortable, Kynareth watches over most
vessels. Baxter's mind turns toward the patrons of The Noble Seamstress'
Spotted Owls, what have they been doing during this long journey? The travel
accross the Iliac would take some time, as the ship was still stocking up on
provisions. However, the thought of a night in Sentinel wasn't awful, in fact
it could be very entertaining . . .

"I have heard much rumor of the Falmer on Solstheim,"
said Hakan, "some say they're those little Reikling creatures, but i don't
see how a Mer could be so mindless and savage...completely deprived of rational
thought and clear language...after existing for such a long time."
Posted by: Aki Oct 22 2004, 04:05 AM
"The falmer, if they existed, obviously did nothing of much
worth.Else it would have left something behind.Like the Dwemer's
Centurions...or cities.Or something."Reich isays at last.
Posted by: NordRogue Oct 22 2004, 04:07 AM
"Possibly," said Louis, "But it also could be,
that they were a mighty nation that was somehow completely destroyed without a
trace...possibly through the wrath of gods or Daedra...or an even mightier
mortal power."
Posted by: Arynel Oct 22 2004, 04:07 AM
"I find it hard to believe the Falmer became Reiklings,
although that may indeed be true." Arynel said to Hakan.
The Breton turned to Reichi. "You make the mistake of assuming that our
view of civilization is universal."

Loranna-Azura frowns, but sighs. " ... I suppose," she
says, "given my current state of being that I should learn to appreciate
whatever is offered, even if it isn't what I am used to. All right then; your
offers of friendship are accepted with my gratitude; ... don't be surprised
though if I try at some point to point out the magic found in my sacred times.
I am still the Dusk and the Dawn."
Of course you are my Lady, Loranna says with a small smile. And I'm
your vessel and your helper, and we're going to restore you to your old self
someday.
Azura does not reply, her mental expression looking unsure; Loranna reaches a
mental hand to clasp Azura's, but to Azura it feels slightly weaker than usual.

but never will i choose the role of servant.
Far away, the Mad God hears this and chuckles. It was, in its own way,
almost as funny as Rilis's soup attack. He mustn't remind himself of that,
Sheogorath chided himself. The temptation was far too great to compose an epic
about the soup wars ... and there was more work to be done ...
Still, he laughed.
And the thunder growled.

"I would assume Reichi meant noteworthy by our
standards...such as leaving artifacts or ruins," said Louis.
"Yes i completely agree...those little Reikling beasts could not possibly
be the Falmer...unless some divine power took their very being and manipulated
into...that.." said Hakan.
