Hello,
and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and
socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
Loranna's Roleplay, while an open roleplay where everyone is invited to
join, is not a limitless or unregulated game. There are rules we have set
ourselves that make roleplaying easier and more enjoyable for everyone of us.
Please take the time and read the following guidelines carefully and, more
importantly, act according to them.
1. Have fun!
2. Fun does not mean you can do whatever you want, though.
Let us please clarify some points. While everyone is welcome to join in, they
are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING
IT FIRST. Let's be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:
Affecting other characters:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission,
many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission,
either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or
otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player
involved.
Major Events:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political(converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
For the purpose of coordinating this RP, backstage fun and discussing current
and future events, we have established a chatroom on chatspike.net, chatroom
#Loranna_RP. We strongly recommend that you have a glimpse in there, since it
is the easiest and most convenient way to discuss characters and settings,
explain rules, plan and give you the background information you need to play in
this RP. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player
whose character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them
using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to
you.
Here are various other rules, tips and information you should take time
to read before joining this RP:
1. Background History:
Loranna's RP has accumulated a rich background history. Of course, no-one can
know all that has happened in this RP, but it is important that you have at
least an idea about the major events that took place during the last
one-and-a-half years. There are a few posts of Loranna that explain the history
of the RP from her character's viewpoint and a summary of the events in the RP
is in progress, you can find them
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html. Another summary is available as
text file from Nalion, please ask via our chatspike channel or per PM to Nalion
for the time being. We are working on a more permanent solution to provide this
information.
The chatroom #Loranna_RP on chatspike is probably the best and fastest way to
get yourself informed about the RP, just ask the moderators and long-time players
there if you need any information. They will gladly help you. It is also very
advisable to read up on the most recent posts and threads to become a grasp of
what is happening right now in the RP. This will significantly help you in
finding a way to join the action and will reduce the probabiliy of mistakes.
2. Reading and catching up on the RP:
We're a dedicated lot of players, and we love this RP. This means we put a lot
of effort in our posts, do a lot of planning and discussing to create our
plotlines. This requires time and dedication. And we require this of you as
well. This means, take your time to read the posts of the other players and
take the time to catch up on the plot if it progressed while you were away.
This simplifies your rejoin into the action. It is also a sign of respect to
the other players. If you don't have the time to read their posts, why should
they bother with yours, then?
Again, please let me repeat this, for it is very important. If you are not able
or willing to put time and at least reasonable effort in this RP, think again
whether you want to join this RP or not.
3. Gathering information
Gather information about the RP, be it asking in chat, by reading older posts
and getting up to date on the history or by asking via PM. No-one can know
everything, sure, but everyone can ask about what happened. We're glad to
assist! Again, this can not be done without some interest in the ongoings in
the RP, effort and a good bit of dedication.
4. Roleplaying
Roleplaying doesn't just involve making your character say something
(in-character chat). It also has a descriptive element. Motions and emotions of
your character, worries, joys, mimics, movements... we want to see them!
Describe how your character acts, this gives you a better grasp of your
character and will help your fellow players build up a relationship to your
character. It's not only action and big fights we have here in this RP, there
is a major social aspect to it as well.
5. Posting
Try to take your time to post. Yes, we are aware that there are hectic scenes,
like in big combats, where some things move faster, but is it in general a good
idea to look over your post again to check it. Yes, we know it sounds stupid
and obvious, but please care about spelling, punctuation and grammar. They are
not just things you learned in school once to forget afterwards. We are no
decryption experts. Those grammar rules have their meaning, and there are tools
out there to help you(word spell checker for example). Again, the chat is a perfect
way to ask for
time and coordinate with other players if you have problems.
6. Character control / multiple characters
Once more, about controlling characters that belong to other players: You
cannot control a character that is not your own (with a few exceptions, like
having talked to the player of the character beforehand). This means most of
the time the following:
* In combat, you can only try to attack another character, but whether
you hit him or how much damage is inflicted is up to the player of the
character, and only him/her.
* This applies to healing or helping the character as well; feel free to try
and offer help to a character, but let the other player describe the effects of
the healing/helping.
* Especially in combat, you have to work closely with the other players, the
chatroom is the best and easiest method to discuss these things.
Another thing related to this topic is referring or speaking to other
characters whose players are not online. If possible, try to avoid involving
characters when their player is not present. It ties down your character while
waiting for the other player to come back, and you don't know whether the
respective player has other plans when he is back.
Additionally, avoid generating scenes where you involve a character, affect him
with an action and finish the action before the player can react (stealing,
attacking, casting spells or similar actions). Example: No running up to
someone, rob him and run away to safety all in one post. This is a no go.
Controlling multiple characters. We have no written limits on how many
characters you may control; the limit is you. In general, it is very advisable
that you stick to one character when you are new to RPing. When creating a
character, it is VERY important that you consider your character carefully.
Again, this has something to do with effort and dedication. It is generally a
bad sign if you join up, post a couple of posts and then say you are bored with
this character and make a new one. Other players might get annoyed greeting and
introducing their characters to a new character when it is obvious that this
character will not last long because the player gets bored with the new
character. This RP is a social RP as well, and it is very difficult to socialize
with a character that is badly played, where you can see by the style of
writing that the player is already bored with the character and will throw him
away at the next opportunity. RPing is all about characters and your character
is your "representative" in this RP, your voice, your arm, your mind.
Please take this into account when creating and playing your character.
As a general rule of thumb, use only one character until you feel comfortable
with him, can control him, have fun with him and the character is established
in the RP. The rest will run automatically after a while when you get more
confident and experienced in RPing.
7. Secret plans
Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're
revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards
they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them. Examples: Your character
suddenly remembers that he has a castles all over Tamriel and calls in troops
to help. Or: Your character suddenly reveals he is a spy of the Emperor and
knows everything.
8. Ingame consequences of character actions:
Morrowind the game was rather lenient when it came to direct consequences after
a character's action. This is not the case in our RP. There are laws and local
customs, and there are guards and other authorities that are there to enforce
them. So, starting tavern brawls, stealing, murdering, open assault and all
other related actions are very likely to be persecuted and punished (this can
go up from your character ending up in jail, being banished or to be executed).
This doesn't mean that there are no murders or thefts in the RP, but it does
mean that if you do that, be aware of the consequences your character will have
to deal with.
9. Additional helpful information:
Please make sure that you read the following post of Allerleirauh
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855,
dealing with some of the above mentioned rules, as well as the hints on
character generation done by Loranna
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=3828224.
Please take the above mentioned rules and information into careful
consideration, they will help you in joining this RP quickly and are useful to
avoid problems. And more importantly: act according to them!
** Not following the above advice will only result in two things: your
post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone else as if it did not
happen and/or you are asked to leave the RP. This is obviously not good for
anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them and act according to
the rules mentioned above. **
Thank you, and have fun!

Firsthold
Non Altmer tended to stick out in Firsthold like a sore thumb, both by their
looks and by the way they carried themselves. This tended to be doubly true
during the social season, when the subtle nuances of tradition and fashion
intrinsically understood by the High Elves made the poor, uninformed foreigners
stand out even more than usual.
Though, for some people, it was their voice that made them stick out like a
sore thumb, as it was for the one gentleman who had somehow found himself in a
discussion with three slightly tipsy Altmer nobles.
"Now you lost our wager fair and square, and by your clothes you're men of
your words," Gram Pyrel says, his cheeks a bit flushed as he carried his
conversation - and one of his conversationalists - outside. "All I'm
asking is to find three people, three non local lads of distinctive demeanor
and noble bearing ..."
"An Argonain and a Nord, of noble bearing?" the slightly-more tipsey
Altmer chuckles.
"I'll have you know my very own daughter is a Grand Duchess and well-known
among the royal circles of Tamriel," Gram shoots back, which earns him a
derisive laugh - and the Nord's ears turn as red as his beard ...[15]
With the letter back in her hands, all Llana had to do now, was wait for Raven to collect the document. And it didnt take long for him to do so. With the exchange of money, Raven looked over the document and smiled, pleased with the work. Pocketing the document, he made his way to the village green... [16]

Alack had seen enough. He could tell his contacts, merchants who sailed between
Blacklight and Ald Raathim illegally, to report info about this Thadas
character. From Ald Raathim to Cyrodiil to Blacklight, it had taken much time
to follow this link ...
Alack used the secret routes of the smugglers to get back to Ald Raathim in a
day's time.

Ald Raathim
Loranna walks through the Resoultion of Zenithar, greeted by those merchants
who recognized the Duchess of Ald Raathim, talking a bit about the dangers on
the Inner Sea, the rishing and falling prices of various commodities, and
interesting gossip from other prividences. The coming of the Altmer armada was
by now common knowledge, and weighing on the minds of every seabound merchant -
the success or failure of the Altmer's forces would radically change the safety
of plying the sea lanes.
Those merchants from High Rock, particularly from Wayrest, were somber, the
events in the Dragontail Mountains whispered at but not spoken aloud ...
At length, Loranna heads out into the light of the afternoon sun, feeling a
desire to walk back to the castle, or at least a little of the way. It was a
nice day, after all, and there was so much to do who knew when she'd get
another chance to take a breather ...[87]

Leaning on her staff, Loranna makes her way up to the cliffs, finding the
Breton Kallen had spoken of.
"A beautiful day," she says, walking up to Kingston Muse. "I'm
glad it decided not to rain, even though we could always use the extra boost
for the crops." [97]

"You're glad it didn't rain," the Korgari vampire chuckled.
"That's fire from the skies for me. But I do like looking at it, isn't
that funny?"
The vast expanse of the Inner Sea was indeed a breathtaking sight from the
cliffs next to Castle Daruhn. A strong wind was blowing, and tuffs of mist were
torn from the crests of the waves like errant ghosts.
"It's perverse, but I'm always drawn to it. I suppose we can't help but
look in awe at what would destroy us, eh?" Kingston smiled. "In any
case, I came to say goodbye. I told you I wouldn't outstay my welcome, and I
wanted to thank you for extending me your courtesy. It is a rare thing."[102]

"That sounds almost like an attempt to seduce a potential meal,"
Loranna notes, covering her mouth to hide the silliness of her brief grin.
"And thank you for your courtesy, and for your help and earlier
advice."
She shrugs a little. "I suppose it is a rare thing, but I've lived through
rare circumstances," she muses. "Though if you do plan on coming
through Ald Raathim again, I'd appreciate as much advance warning as you can
give - if only to let Anya know you're coming, or whether I need to invite the

Loranna watches Kingston retreat from the cliffs, flicking her fingers again;

short-lived crystals of ice that form as she chills the air around her.
"Yes, I do so very hope you were telling me the truth dear," she

My Sister Anya,
I am off for parts unknown. I’ve felt the winds luring me north towards Skyrim
for some reason, but who knows if they may change? Regardless, I felt it was
time to leave Ald Raathim. A charming town, but I am not the sort of predator
to stay in one place for very long.
I spoke to Loranna about you, and how important it is for you both not to get
complacent, and believe that your existence is acceptable to all. Remember the
tattoos on that vampire hunter: many of their kind have them, and if you are
alert, you can spot them before they spot you.
There is a little trick I don’t share with many, but I told Loranna and I’ll
tell you. If you need me, write my initials K.M. on a piece of paper and burn
it. I will know who wrote it and where the burning took place, and I will come
if at all possible.
I wish you well on your journey of discovery. May your amorphous limbs be
limber, and the blood you find be sweet and hot.

Summary
Sivartus has been reading books and taking notes at his new found study.
-----
Sivartus sighed as he closed the book he was reading. He had been holed up here
for days, doing nothing but studying. Notes and books lay scattered across the
desk infront of him, containing all the magic knowledge he had learned during
his time here. He hastily jumbled all the notes together placed them in a chest
at his feet, locking it with magic when he finished.
Sivartus stood and crossed the room, occasionally grabbing a book off one of
the nearby shelves. When he made it to the other side, he had 3 books with him,
which he stuffed into the pockets of his robes. He gathered some magicka
potions and stuffed them into his pockets as well, then headed for the door to
the cave.
As he opened the door and stepped outside, he shielded his eyes against the
sunlight. I've been inside too long, he thought, squinting into the sun.
He turned and pulled the door closed, casting a lock spell and a few traps on
it. After one last check that his pockets were full with everything he needed,
he cast Divine Intervention and the Imperial Cult shrine flickered into view.
He exited the building, and went off towards the Nymph & Noggin [181]

Summary for Reeds; Reeds is with three friends in search of Glacia...
Reeds looked at the diamond in his hand, knowing that there were two exactly
like it in the bottom of his stachel. A princely gift, Thought Reeds, and
for something we didn't even do... It was not to say Reeds was feeling
guilty, quite the contrary actually. He couldn't know exactly how much a
perfectly cut gem like this would fetch in Ald Raathim, but he did know how
much he needed to live on, and he did know the definition of overkill.
Slipping the diamond back with its brothers, he waited for someone to open the

front door opening and closing. And then a woman's heels as someone ran
down the street.

"Another chase. Great. Just great." Isidor said, running out of the
alley where he had been walking, and followed the women who had ran from the
house. [255]

She recounted the events of Tel Dresori from her view. The slaughter they had

Adopting a kindly expression, he pats the servant girl on the back. "There
there fair maiden, my friends and I mean you no harm. We merely let our zeal
for finding your mistress get the better of us; it's a manly fault all our sex

He pulls out a piece of cloth, adding "Here now, dry your eyes; I'm sure

regret it.", she grumbled, stopping her efforts to grab her beverage. Once
the conversation was over, she would get is back anyways.
"I can't do anything for them, right. Doesn't mean that it was right. And
it still hurts.", Dana said, touching her chest, right over her heart.
"Here."
The Redguard looked sad and pained, even after these days, she still had not
gotten over what she had seen then. However, something inside her told her that
she should speak of her sorrows and what she had seen.
"See, it all began when Tel Dresori was swarmed with these Diodata
vampires. Nalion asked me to help out and foolish as I was, I agreed. Then came
the horror..."
She recounted the events of Tel Dresori from her view. The slaughter they had
seen, the swarming vampires, the blood, the turned children and how she had to
kill some, the fight in the hall of the castle, her imprisonment, the torture
of Slyvos...
She held her head with both of her hands and tugged hard at her red hair as she
told the story.
[497]
Sivartus was alittle shocked when Dana started holding her head and tugging her
hair, but quickly regained his composure. As he listened to the story, taking
it all in, his face never changed from the calm look he gave her.
"Well, I'm sorry you had to see those things at Tel Dresori, and that you
had to go through them, but they are in the past now, and you can't dwell on

Gram waits, his opponent bringing the saber back for a backhand which Gram read

One of the Firsthold guards had also charged at them, and the assassin snapped
his whip around the guard's neck, getting it between the helmet and the armor.
With a flip of his wrist, the whip returned, and the guard's head tumbled to
the ground.

[655] Reeds turned down the alley after him, making a mental note to get in better shape if he was going to keep doing these things. Noting that the assasin might be using invisibility or chameleon, he let his magic vision come on, bringing the world into a blaze of color.
[657]
It was a deadend alleyway, filled with refuse, large and small, a nasty little
place just off the clean, pristine streets of Firsthold. Reeds's vision
immediately placed the assassin, skulking behind a bag of garbage, a blowgun to
his lips as he watched the Argonian carefully.

Summary:
Since the conversation with Traven and the others in the Nymph and Noggin,
Slyvos has literally locked himself in his library for the most part.
-----------------------------------------------
Slyvos had just spent at least the past 2 days within his study, pouring over
books on necromantic topics, including his own handwritten notes taken during
his 4000 year stint as a lich, to search for answers to this mysterious and
deadly field impeding their process in the Illiac Bay region.
Tome after Tome, journal after journal, and he was beginning to run out of
sources from which to look. He hadn't slept the entire time. Finally though, he
had found one of his more ancient scrolls; it had to be at least dating back to
the early Second Era, and was only holding together because of how well
preserved it was kept.
2E245, 1st of Hearthfire:
My studies into methods of creating selective fields of death-based energies
has proven itself inconclusive. Several methods attempted have resulted in the
deaths of quite a few valuable apprentices. Apparently holy items seem to have
a varied effect upon my method of creating such a field, such as disrupting it
in a personal area, or even complete destruction of the field in small
distances. Later attempts with more stable fields have proven move successful,
and have resisted nearly all efforts at disruption.
-------
2E253, 6th of Morningstar:
After several hundred further experiments, I have found an unfortunate
weakpoint in my method; apparently, strong sources of life energies counteract
the effects of the field upon ingestion. Where such a source can be found....
This scroll was immensely helpful, despite the missing piece near the end. Sly
decided to take a visit abroad to the death field itself, testing the results
of several different methods to determine to nature. Just his luck, the field
was of similar make to the one he had been developing for personal use in his
tower back during his days of lichdom.
He returned to Ald Raathim through magical means after extensive study of the
field itself, determining that the only method of dispelling the field would be
to destroy the one who was creating it; or, at the very least, disrupting his
concentration enough to force the field to falter.
Slyvos spoke with Loranna about this for a good hour or so, practically diving
into the experiance of discussing and researching the topic. Ah, just what he
needed, something to take his mind off of Tel Dresori...
They had finished as much as could be done, and now it was time to present
ideas and findings to their allies... [753]

Now, after a discussion with her husband, she returns to the Nymph and Noggin,
looking for her allies.
[801]
Loranna would find Nalion and Dana in a corner of the Nymph. The Redguard woman
was gesturing wildly at the mage, and her shouts were audible. Apparently, the
dispute had already been going on for a while.
"How could you!?", Dana shouted angrily waving her hands in front of
Nalion. "You dragged me into this!"
"Dana, I am truly sorry to have put this burden on you. I did
not...", Nalion answered, trying to calm her down but watching her hands
warily.
A loud slap and a surprised shout later, Nalion held his red cheek. Dana's
hands were surprisingly ungentle when she wanted to, and she did not hold back
her anger and despair. However, she seemed surprised about herself and let her
arms drop. Tears began to run down her cheeks.
"That's all your fault!", Dana sobbed, weaker in her voice than she
was just a few moments ago, wiping her tears away.
Nalion nodded and put his arms around her shoulders. Dana didn't resist, but
leaned lightly on his shoulder. "We'll work this out. It will be
okay."
It was then that Nalion noticed Loranna coming in. He gently lifted Dana's chin
and handed her a white piece of cloth. Dana blushed as she looked up and saw
Loranna, wiping away her tears and trying to calm down.
"I'm sorry.", she said.
"It's okay.", Nalion answered. "Will you come and join up with
Loranna?"
Dana sniffed one last time, then nodded.
"I'll come."
Together, they approached Loranna. [802]
Anya made a slow walk
back to Ald Raathim. Her mind was so wrought with problems she choose to ignore
them all for the moment, Nalion's wary concerns, Dayla's changing personality,
even moving about in society.
Anya noticed Loranna moving through town, followed her, entering the Nymph and
Noggin. Her eyes glanced to the distraught Dana, keeping a noticable berth
around her. Anya settled next to Loranna, not speaking. [803]
Summary: Athaso Sethen
sits at the bar in the Nymph and Noggin as he had done quite often for the past
few days.
He glanced over his shoulder at the sound of somewhat familiar voices shouting.
He also noticed Loranna enter the Nymph and Noggin and wondered what she was
there for, but at the moment he did not pay any of them any mind.
Athaso had been quiet recently. If you were a regular you would notice he would
hardly ever speak with the other patrons and would constantly seem to be in
deep thought. He may have even had an angry look on his face, muttering things
under his breath. [804]
Vaan, the Nymph and
Noggin:
A silver haired figure walked into the Nymph. He was wearing some sort of
enrobed Armour, which looked distinctively Telvanni in design.
Noticing Loranna, he approached her slowly.
"So good to see you."
Necron, the Temple:
Having just had a meeting with Loranna, the rumours that Necron had heard were
happily dispelled.
However, she had informed of something much more terrible. Necron went to a
desk, and began to start writing a report that he had promised to Allerleirauh
on her demand months ago.
The False Tribunal: Report by Muatramer Grandmaster Necron of the Order of
Intelligence
It was to be a tale of revenge 4000 years in the making.
Necron sighed, The Temple had been split in two for this... [805]
Tsei wandered into the Nymph and Noggin, looking refreshed, and better than she had, the last time anyone had seen her. Taking a seat at the bar, she ordered a flin and studied her surroundings. [806]
Sivartus sat up in his
bed, refreshed from the sleep he had gotten. He rubbed his eyes to take the
sleep out of them as he got up and crossed the room to a closet. He took out a
clean dark blue robe and slipped it on, taking care to transfer all of his
items from his old robe to his new one.
Still feeling asleep, he made his way down to the common room of the tavern. He
looked around for anyone he knew, and spotting Dana again, he made his way over
to her table. He didn't noticed who she was sitting with until he got closer,
but it could be none other than the Duchess of Ald Raathim.
"May I join you?" he said, pulling a chair out and taking a seat. "You
must be Loranna. I had the help of some of your friends, and I am looking to
return the favor. If there is anything I can help Ald Raathim with, name
it." [807]
Loranna looks at
Nalion and Dana with concern, wishing again she had looked deeper into the Tel
Dresori situation before sending her friends in. She glances at Nalion to
ensure that everything will be okay. When Anya joins her, she looks to the
Bosmer as well, and to the Redguard and Breton, unsure what to say, or if she
should try to say anything.
Tsei and Vaan's presences bring a smile to Loranna's lips, as she says "So
good to see you two as well; you've arrived at a fortituous time." Tsei's
cheer brightened Loranna's heart a little; since she last saw the Argonian,
Falco's death stillweighed on her.
"Ah; you are Sivartus, yes? My father mentioned you; thank you for your
help to my friends and my city," Loranna says graciously to the young
Breton mage. "And Athaso, my thanks to you as well for your aid ..."
With a sigh, Loranna says "... for I must ask again for people to aid us,
in a terrible situation."
For Sivartus's and Tsei's sakes, Loranna briefly summarizes the events
concerning Mannimarco, concluding with " ... and Slyvos has been
researching this death aura in Ephesus, and while he hasn't found a way to
dispel the aura, he has found a way we can counter it ..."
She turns to her husband to explain, whispering gently to him "Keep it
simple, love." [808]

Nalion nodded to Loranna, signaling with a smile that for now, things were
okay. The mage looked briefly at Anya and the others, offering a greeting.
Dana stared openly at Anya, with a little fear in her eyes, which were still
red from her tears. She mumbled some polite words and sat herself at a distance
from Anya. From her demeanour, she felt very insecure around Anya, and
frightened. [813]
Enter Len Torren a
young assassin.
Summary: As a young boy Len Torren traveled widely being of noble birth. He
was of small nobility, his family having been awarded it for large ammounts of
money donated. Because of this Len choose not to retain his noble attitudes
when he came of age, and rebeled against his parents, becoming an assassin. He
now owns a small business that is located in vivec, becoming more and more a
rival to the Morang Tong. He does only high profile kills but does
"enforce" many local taverns and bars. Still very unknown, he wears a
flowing black rob and fights with a ebon rapier given at a young age by his
parents. Also has a dozen or sosteel throwing knives.
Len slid into the showdows around the manor in Balmora, thinking on how he was
going to do this. The rich puppet noble had 3 soldiers standing around the
house armed with iron claymores.

[816] Loranna looks at
Nalion and Dana with concern, wishing again she had looked deeper into the Tel
Dresori situation before sending her friends in. She glances at Nalion to
ensure that everything will be okay. When Anya joins her, she looks to
the Bosmer as well, and to the Redguard and Breton, unsure what to say, or if
she should try to say anything.
Tsei and Vaan's presences bring a smile to Loranna's lips, as she says "So
good to see you two as well; you've arrived at a fortituous time."
Tsei's cheer brightened Loranna's heart a little; since she last saw the
Argonian, Falco's death stillweighed on her.
"Ah; you are Sivartus, yes? My father mentioned you; thank you for
your help to my friends and my city," Loranna says graciously to the young
Breton mage. "And Osano, my thanks to you as well for your aid
..."
She turns to her husband to explain, whispering gently to him "Keep it
simple, love."
[818]
Slyvos coughs, thinking to himself of the simplest way to properly explain what
he has discovered. He had a look of great curiosity still burning in his eyes,
glancing around to make sure eveyone was listening.
"alright, to begin, we all know what the field does; in layman's terms, it
brings a painful and swift death to living beings within it." He took
another look just to be sure everyone listened... he didn't want to repeat
himself.
"Also, from my own... experiance, if a potent enough source of life
energies is consumed by living creatures, they may enter the field with little
negative effect until the source of the energies is flushed out of your system.
The only thing we have to worry about, is getting a source of life energies
that can be properly consumed..." [819]
Athaso turned around in his seat when he heard his name spoken by Loranna, and greeted her as well as the others. After, he sat back down and listened to Slyvos' explanation of the "Death Aura" while quietly finishing his drink... [820]

[824]
"Slyvos and I have discussed this a bit already," Loranna says,
glancing at Tsei for a moment before continuing. "We feel that the best
possible source of life energies for our need ... is Hist sap. With Slyvos's
notes to work with, I can mix the sap with one of my healing potion formulas to
make a potion that will let us survive in the death aura field."
"So, somehow, we need to get ourselves some Hist sap ..." Loranna
says. "... Though I think we should also speak with the Temple of Arkay
about our situation as well, see what aid they could lend us. Slyvos's notes
suggest that certain holy artifacts might also shield people from the effects
of the death aura, and the priests of Arkay are the best people to speak to
regarding those."[825]

[829]
"So it is Stormhold?", Nalion asked after thinking about the Hist
sap. "We would need good relations with the Argonians there to gain a bit
of this precious essence."
Nalion thought of the Naga they encountered when they were on the search for
the Flamekiss jewel. [830]

"Stormhold seems agood place to start, yes," Loranna says.

"What is Hist?" Sivartus said, a questioning look on his face.
"I have never heard of it before, and why would the Argonians not want us

"Stinks more than a Orc's undergarments," Reichi added, grinning. [914]
"That's an
excellent idea, Dana," Loranna says, nodding. She looks over at Reichi and
Anya with bemused eyes.
"We're somewhat short-handed with Reeds and company in Firsthold,"

Black Marsh and Sentinel, just to be on the safe side. We'll take a day or two
to prepare and see if we can't catch any of our other companions."
"Thank you all for helping with this; I appreciate it," she finishes,
smiling. "I have good friends."

these adventurers. For now, Shaka returned to his property to think and prepare

smiling a little. "I think many of us feel the same way about our skills
and magic as you do your powers, dear. I know for a fact my father takes pride
in every sword trick he knows, I'd bet you Dana sings because she loves to
sing, and Slyvos and Nalion ... well, there's just something about men and
fire; Kingston's got it too."
"Your shapeshifting and innate magic aren't things to fear having, any
more than my healing and absorb magic is, or my father's skill at slicing
things to bits," Loranna tells Anya. "It's how you ultimately use
those powers that matters, just like the rest of us. Your temptation may be a
bit more because you've got something unique, but the temptation itself is
something we all endure. Like Allie says, having power comes with a price, and
we all pay it." [980]

"Somehow, I don't think that's what Nalion worries about. I'm not just a
person with more skills. You failed to mention what comes with them, including
what I first talked about." Anya said quitely, looking up at Loranna,
"My gaze lingers on people as meals, if I'm not careful. I said it was the
sweetest drink you'd ever taste." [985]

"Like I said," Loranna says, giving Anya a serious stare, "power
has its price."
She sighs. "Kingston said it both sustained and inspired; he was talking
about blood but he could very well have been talking about something
else," she tells Anya. "I could theorize a storm out of that
reveleation, but I'm not going to."
Turning to face Anya head on, she says "When you agreed to be Eidor's
godmother, your eyes spoke of a promise made. Do you remember that, Anya?"[990]

"Exactly," she says, putting her hands on her shoulders, and looking

[1004]
Anya's face hardened, realization setting in. Her eyes glanced about, eyebrows
furrowed, "I'm not like them, I wouldn't harm anyone that didn't have it
coming to them. Why won't they stop insinuating I'm a monster? Kethiah trusts
me with her son, I won't let this rule me." [1005]

[1009]
"They're not insuinating that you're a monster, they're afraid that, if
you're not careful, you'll become a monster," Loranna explains.
"Because they know only that vampires have a bloodlust, and they see so
many other vampires just give in to that lust and become monsters, and they
can't bear the thought of that happening to someone they love."
Loranna squeezes Anya's shoulders absently as she talks. "You've a
bloodlust you can't completely erase; you can be dangerous. They know this. If
I'm not careful with my own lusts, I'll start walking back along the path of
the Incarnate Mother, and I'll be worse than I ever was before. And, though
they don't talk about it as much ... they know this too. You're not the only
one of us who has to excersice restraint, even if you are the only vampire in
our group ..."[1010]

Anya looks at Loranna, her hands coming up to grip Loranna's wrists warmly. She
opened her mouth, hesitating for a moment, then speaking up, "They have a
right to be afraid, or worried. I still remember how I went berserk when Ald
Raathim was besieged by the Redoran army." Anya glanced down, "And it
can be a subtle loss of control too..."
Anya stood up, shifting her cloak a bit, "I can't help but continue to
think of Kethiah though, and her trust in me. I told her I trust her decision,
and I do. I won't become drunk with power, not again." [1015]

"Now, though, some other concerns ..." Loranna says, as she outlines
some other thoughts she had before, still holding Anya's shoulders.
