Hello,
and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and
socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
Loranna's Roleplay, while an open roleplay where everyone is invited to
join, is not a limitless or unregulated game. There are rules we have set
ourselves that make roleplaying easier and more enjoyable for everyone of us.
Please take the time and read the following guidelines carefully and, more
importantly, act according to them.
1. Have fun!
2. Fun does not mean you can do whatever you want, though.
Let us please clarify some points. While everyone is welcome to join in, they
are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING
IT FIRST. Let's be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:
Affecting other characters:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission,
many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission,
either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or
otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player
involved.
Major Events:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political(converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
For the purpose of coordinating this RP, backstage fun and discussing current
and future events, we have established a chatroom on chatspike.net, chatroom
#Loranna_RP. We strongly recommend that you have a glimpse in there, since it
is the easiest and most convenient way to discuss characters and settings,
explain rules, plan and give you the background information you need to play in
this RP. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player
whose character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them
using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to
you.
Here are various other rules, tips and information you should take time
to read before joining this RP:
1. Background History:
Loranna's RP has accumulated a rich background history. Of course, no-one can
know all that has happened in this RP, but it is important that you have at
least an idea about the major events that took place during the last
one-and-a-half years. There are a few posts of Loranna that explain the history
of the RP from her character's viewpoint and a summary of the events in the RP
is in progress, you can find them
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html. Another summary is available as
text file from Nalion, please ask via our chatspike channel or per PM to Nalion
for the time being. We are working on a more permanent solution to provide this
information.
The chatroom #Loranna_RP on chatspike is probably the best and fastest way to
get yourself informed about the RP, just ask the moderators and long-time players
there if you need any information. They will gladly help you. It is also very
advisable to read up on the most recent posts and threads to become a grasp of
what is happening right now in the RP. This will significantly help you in
finding a way to join the action and will reduce the probabiliy of mistakes.
2. Reading and catching up on the RP:
We're a dedicated lot of players, and we love this RP. This means we put a lot
of effort in our posts, do a lot of planning and discussing to create our
plotlines. This requires time and dedication. And we require this of you as
well. This means, take your time to read the posts of the other players and
take the time to catch up on the plot if it progressed while you were away.
This simplifies your rejoin into the action. It is also a sign of respect to
the other players. If you don't have the time to read their posts, why should
they bother with yours, then?
Again, please let me repeat this, for it is very important. If you are not able
or willing to put time and at least reasonable effort in this RP, think again
whether you want to join this RP or not.
3. Gathering information
Gather information about the RP, be it asking in chat, by reading older posts
and getting up to date on the history or by asking via PM. No-one can know
everything, sure, but everyone can ask about what happened. We're glad to
assist! Again, this can not be done without some interest in the ongoings in
the RP, effort and a good bit of dedication.
4. Roleplaying
Roleplaying doesn't just involve making your character say something
(in-character chat). It also has a descriptive element. Motions and emotions of
your character, worries, joys, mimics, movements... we want to see them!
Describe how your character acts, this gives you a better grasp of your
character and will help your fellow players build up a relationship to your
character. It's not only action and big fights we have here in this RP, there
is a major social aspect to it as well.
5. Posting
Try to take your time to post. Yes, we are aware that there are hectic scenes,
like in big combats, where some things move faster, but is it in general a good
idea to look over your post again to check it. Yes, we know it sounds stupid
and obvious, but please care about spelling, punctuation and grammar. They are
not just things you learned in school once to forget afterwards. We are no
decryption experts. Those grammar rules have their meaning, and there are tools
out there to help you(word spell checker for example). Again, the chat is a perfect
way to ask for
time and coordinate with other players if you have problems.
6. Character control / multiple characters
Once more, about controlling characters that belong to other players: You
cannot control a character that is not your own (with a few exceptions, like
having talked to the player of the character beforehand). This means most of
the time the following:
* In combat, you can only try to attack another character, but whether
you hit him or how much damage is inflicted is up to the player of the
character, and only him/her.
* This applies to healing or helping the character as well; feel free to try
and offer help to a character, but let the other player describe the effects of
the healing/helping.
* Especially in combat, you have to work closely with the other players, the
chatroom is the best and easiest method to discuss these things.
Another thing related to this topic is referring or speaking to other
characters whose players are not online. If possible, try to avoid involving
characters when their player is not present. It ties down your character while
waiting for the other player to come back, and you don't know whether the
respective player has other plans when he is back.
Additionally, avoid generating scenes where you involve a character, affect him
with an action and finish the action before the player can react (stealing,
attacking, casting spells or similar actions). Example: No running up to
someone, rob him and run away to safety all in one post. This is a no go.
Controlling multiple characters. We have no written limits on how many
characters you may control; the limit is you. In general, it is very advisable
that you stick to one character when you are new to RPing. When creating a
character, it is VERY important that you consider your character carefully.
Again, this has something to do with effort and dedication. It is generally a
bad sign if you join up, post a couple of posts and then say you are bored with
this character and make a new one. Other players might get annoyed greeting and
introducing their characters to a new character when it is obvious that this
character will not last long because the player gets bored with the new
character. This RP is a social RP as well, and it is very difficult to socialize
with a character that is badly played, where you can see by the style of
writing that the player is already bored with the character and will throw him
away at the next opportunity. RPing is all about characters and your character
is your "representative" in this RP, your voice, your arm, your mind.
Please take this into account when creating and playing your character.
As a general rule of thumb, use only one character until you feel comfortable
with him, can control him, have fun with him and the character is established
in the RP. The rest will run automatically after a while when you get more
confident and experienced in RPing.
7. Secret plans
Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're
revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards
they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them. Examples: Your character
suddenly remembers that he has a castles all over Tamriel and calls in troops
to help. Or: Your character suddenly reveals he is a spy of the Emperor and
knows everything.
8. Ingame consequences of character actions:
Morrowind the game was rather lenient when it came to direct consequences after
a character's action. This is not the case in our RP. There are laws and local
customs, and there are guards and other authorities that are there to enforce
them. So, starting tavern brawls, stealing, murdering, open assault and all
other related actions are very likely to be persecuted and punished (this can
go up from your character ending up in jail, being banished or to be executed).
This doesn't mean that there are no murders or thefts in the RP, but it does
mean that if you do that, be aware of the consequences your character will have
to deal with.
9. Additional helpful information:
Please make sure that you read the following post of Allerleirauh
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855,
dealing with some of the above mentioned rules, as well as the hints on
character generation done by Loranna
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=3828224.
Please take the above mentioned rules and information into careful
consideration, they will help you in joining this RP quickly and are useful to
avoid problems. And more importantly: act according to them!
** Not following the above advice will only result in two things: your
post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone else as if it did not
happen and/or you are asked to leave the RP. This is obviously not good for
anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them and act according to
the rules mentioned above. **
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna: Loranna is in Ald Raathim, having had an exhausting past
couple of days. Archmagister Traven's initial interview of her husband ended up
tangentally sparking a draining debate with Nalion, Slyvos, and Anya about
Anya's vampiric condition, leaving Loranna feeling unsettled at the prospect of
such a divide coming between those she loves. Fortunately, after that things
seemed to pick up; the Archmagister sounded amiable to keeping the Mage Guild
in Ald Raathim and Anya accepted the offer of being Eidor's godmother,
affirming Loranna's faith in her Bosmer friend in the process.
Somewhat worrying, though, is the specter of intrigue brought on by a former
Thieves Guild member requesting forged orders to move the troops out of Veramis
Hall; Loranna awaits an audience with the mer in question to learn why he has
decided to play general ...[1]
Summary for Reeds:
Reeds is with Erenius on a search for a missing altmer, and has just arrived in
Firsthold.
Summary for Valerius: Valerius is training his men. [2]
SUMMARY
Erenius, along with Reeds, are in Firsthold, having taken the Guild to go
there, in search of the Altmer.
As for Erenius' force in Ald Raathim (whom heretofore have mostly been ignored)
are drilling with Valerius, while their second-in-command, the Dunmer Markir
(who also has been quiet and in the shadows) is working with others on the
parade ground. [3]
Vaan's summary:
Vaan is returning to Ald Raathim, having spent ahwile in the Grand city of Port
Telvanni.
Necron's Summary:
Necron is hoping to confer with the Duchess, regarding some VERY disturbing
rumours he heard.
[4]
Summary: Shaka, an Argonian battlemage, is back on his grounds west of Ald Raathim. Having restarted the quest to become Ra'Gada, he's meditating on his life thus far, and working around the gardens.[5]
Summary
Nalion
Nalion is fighting his own demons, as was made apparent in a rather heated
discussion with Loranna, Slyvos and Anya about vampirism and the consequences
that would follow.
The mage has done a lot of thinking lately, whether he came to a decision or
even a solution is unknown.
Dana
Dana, the Redguard healer/bard, can usually be found around the Nymph and
Noggin. After Tel Dresori and the horrors she saw there, she was either furious
or very quiet. The people that knew her would have seen that since she came
back from the vampire-infested town, no song had come from her lips.
Gistral
Gistral, a Redguard warrior, is helping in the reconstruction of various
buildings of Ald Raathim. [6]
Summary
Kethiah, ex-assassin and co-proprietor of the Nymph and Noggin, is at
her tavern, looking for her husband Isidor for a lovely little
"chat." She was just informed that he volunteered himself for an
adventure without telling her.
Kingston Mune, Korgari vampire, is looking particularly tanned and
rested, having just feasted on a drunken royal soldier (don't worry, he lived,
no permanent harm done).
Archmagister Hannibal Traven, Charroah Chane, and Magister Zadion
are all at the Mages Guild.
Hlaalu Morgiah former Queen of Firsthold has returned to Castle Daruhn
after a heated talk with Count Terilite and Reeds.
[7]
Summary: Sivartus is currently in his study, reading his grandfather's books, and making notes. [8]
Summary: Anya is putting Eodir to bed, helping Kethiah have a moments break, and wondering if she's actually up to the task still. [9]
The Woods Beyond
Ald Raathim
If anyone inquired at the Mages Guild, Archmagister Hannibal Traven had gone on
a walk. He found he needed to that from time to time when pondering.
He had followed a random road in town, which as it stretched into the farmland
and woods was no other than a footpath. It straggled onward into the mystery of
the primeval forest.
Darkness and vegetation hemmed it in so narrowly, so black and dense on either
side, and disclosed imperfect glimpses of the sky above. Overhead was a gray
expanse of cloud, slightly stirred, however, by a breeze; so that a gleam of
flickering sunshine might now and then be seen at its solitary play along the
path. This flitting cheerfulness was always at the farther extremity of some
long vista through the forest.
In short, it was a gloomy area of the woods that the mage walked alone, with
only his thoughts.[10]
Reeds and Erenius appeared in the Firsthold Mages guild with a flash of light. Stepping off the platform, Reeds asked to see was the guide during the time when Glacia had gone missing, two or three weeks ago. [11]

A member of the Mages Guild knocked at Zadion's office door.
"Magister? A Breton with the name Nalion is asking to talk to you.",
he said, with Nalion patiently waiting in the hallway of Ald Raathim's Mages
Guild.
The mage wore a plain blue robe and a matching light cloak and while waiting,
he looked at a few books that were standing on a shelf. [16]

Slyvos had felt the need to be alone today. Away from the castle, away from the
city, just away from people in general for once. It was just so...
overwhelming, being around that many people, haveing those responsibilities.
Slyvos' old mind wasn't used to it in the least, having been alone for all
those years.
Besides, he still had things to sort out; he found the deeper areas of the
forest to be perfect for this, as he walked along the path, only just out of
sight of anyone that might have been behind him. [31]

"I would like to add up to a notion that was mentioned during the initial
talks between Archmagister Traven and Loranna and Slyvos.", Nalion began
explaining, sitting down in the chair. "There's always this nagging
feeling that the King of Worms is still out there, and Goranthir will surely
not weaken in his power. The presence of Morgiah has reminded me of this as
well. I am concerned, part of which is that we almost have no point where to

Nalion looked worried and troubled. "I'm beginning to think that we might
not be doing enough. Well, I'm no diplomat nor am I speaking for Loranna and
Slyvos, but I think that since Ald Raathim and the Mages Guild both have vested
interest in fighting this thread, it might add to the good relationship."
The mage watched the Altmer closely, recognizing his tired looks. "You
look kind of exhausted, I hope that I do not intrude too much, but I fear that
this is a matter that should be pursued more." [51]

Turning to the mage, the Imperial says. "Thank you. But if either you or
Hleoa remember anything more that you think might be important, please find us.
We'll be in the city, trying to find more about this."
Erenius then handed a few additional coins, three or four to be precise, to the
Altmer, hoping the coins would help her remember more sooner, rather than
later, when it may be of no use. [77]

"Your wife is charming indeed," Hannibal Traven replied before
launching into a long discussion about the mystical energies that are involved
in the teleportation system of the Guild. The two of them walked for some time
in the woods deep in discussion, and Slyvos was reminded that Hannibal Traven
was a very wise and very powerful sorceror in his own right, not merely a
politico of the Mages Guild. It had been some time since Slyvos had met anyone
so knowledgable in the actual workings of the Mages Guild most remarkable but
least understood process, nor talked to someone who in many ways was his equal
in the magickal arts.

it is not so anymore. Not only in Ald Raathim and Firsthold, but in other
areas of the Empire, it appears that the Necromancers are on the rise
again. Have you spoken with Morgiah about this?"
[86]
"So it has worsened? As bad as this news is, I fear one can barely say
that it was unexpected.", Nalion answered. "I haven't spoken to
Morgiah about it yet, but I plan to do so as soon as possible. However, I
remember you said you would try and send members of the guild to Scourg Barrow.
I wonder, are there any news from this expedition? Was anything found
there?" [87]

[89] The Woods Outside Ald Raathim
"Your wife is charming indeed," Hannibal Traven replied before
launching into a long discussion about the mystical energies that are involved
in the teleportation system of the Guild. The two of them walked for some
time in the woods deep in discussion, and Slyvos was reminded that Hannibal
Traven was a very wise and very powerful sorceror in his own right, not merely
a politico of the Mages Guild. It had been some time since Slyvos had met
anyone so knowledgable in the actual workings of the Mages Guild most
remarkable but least understood process, nor talked to someone who in many ways
was his equal in the magickal arts.
[91]
It was... refreshing, to speak with someone that could understand this sort of
thing. Perhaps Traven wasn't so bad after all; he was obviously not just some
political figure in the guild with a vendetta against necromancy, as he had
originally thought. "Interesting... of course, one would have to wonder
just the result of this if one was to use that method without another guide to
mark the destination point..."
He coughed a bit, as though changing the subject momentarily. "tell me,
Traven, what makes you hate Necromancy so much? I can understand why, but
everyone has their own reason... besides the reasons society gives." [92]

Erenius then handed a few additional coins, three or four to be precise,

than later, when it may be of no use.
[101]
"I hope so, she certianly left an impression on me." Reeds replied.

Reichi Sari has finished getting his equipment repaired/cleaned, and has stowed

his mark is in the same room...

Reichi walked down the street towards the Nymph and Noggin, clad in simple,
dark clothing, and armed with only the Dagger of Senses, which was sheathed and
(mostly) out of view. The Dunmer entered the Nymph and Noggin, and got himself
a Sujamma, and a plate of saltrice and scuttle.
Reichi relaxed at his table and began eating.

Anya waved and smiled at Loranna, moving to make room for her to sit with them
if she wanted.
[252]
Reichi's other eyebrow joined the first. "The main sanctuary is in
Cyrodiil?" he asked rhetorically. "I'll go, it'll be interesting to
see what a 4000 year old vampiress and her fellow vampires collect..."[253]

"Going to ask Dayla about her knowledge of worms?" she asks Anya.
"Or just to poke around in the library and find a book that will make poor
Nalion salivate?"
Her tone was mostly light, but she does ask "Though I'd have to wonder if
your mater would mind someone not in the family going along ..."[255]

[259] Firsthold, The
King's Pavillion
The gentlemen all wore blue, and the ladies all wore red. It was a
glorious day for the boat races, and all Firsthold was gathered in the tiers
above the harbor to watch. No one was more elegantly dressed than the
nobles in the King's Pavillion.
Erenius was stopped by the royal guards after a few steps onto the Pavillion.
"What is your business here, sir?" the lead guard asked, looking at
Erenius's outfit.
[261]
"I'm here to speak with Lord and Lady Rysleire, its about their missing
daughter, Glacia," Erenius says to the guard. [262]

"Interesting is one way to put it, and I admit I'd be curious to see her

step in Cyrodiil. Then again, this one tribe's always kept a low profile."[267]

If anyone was going to appear to speak with them, now would be the time...
[271]
"I appreciate you being honest with me, your Grace," The Archmagister
smiled. "I know it probably feels like I'm asking you too many questions
about your past, but I'm only doing it so I can understand ... You're a unique
case for me. I seldom am able to ask questions of someone who was involved with
necromancy, and expect the answers to be truthful. If you want to turn it
around on me at any time, and ask me questions, I won't take offense."
They were walking fairly quickly, though the rain was still relatively light,
little more than a heavy mist.[272]

Nalion met Slyvos and the Archmagister on the way back to the city. The mage's

"Ah, Archmagister, Slyvos. Good to see you both.", Nalion said after
greeting them. "I wonder if you have time to hear me out. Perhaps in a booth
in the Nymph with some wine rather than outside in the rain? I spoke to Zadion

[421] "What is it, Slyvos.", Nalion asked, his interest awoken. "You look like you just got an idea? The closest location... Scourg Barrow and thus Ephesus... or Firsthold, of which is said that Mannimarco has some interest. What do you think, Slyvos?"
[423]
"well, this narrows down our potential locations to search, now doesn't
it? I would most likely assume he would return to his old stomping grounds, if
only for the purpose of giving his servants a familiar location to work from.
Albeit, most of said servants are either long dead, or undead. Or both, in that
order." Slyvos says with that look a mage gets when they have stumbled
onto something incredible to study.[424]

Nalion looked at Loranna with an expression that clearly said that he did not
want to bring this particular topic up, and one that made clear that he did not
yet have made up his mind, unlike Loranna.

Sensing that he had walked into a serious discussion, Shaka merely smiled back
at Anya and took a seat, listening intently.[429]
The Nymph and Noggin[430]

[431] Anya nodded, speaking buntly, "Well, Mannimarco appeared to me in the cave upon are return from Ald Sotha, that could be used to find at least an envoy. Also, my mater is conducting her own search, and offered to inform me if I chose to ask."

the ones to first learn that Mannimarco had taken control of Goranthir, turning

had planned to mention this fact to Traven before, as a way to encourage him to

Reichi sighs and is
reminded of Saint Deothur entering the aura of death on the Plains of conflict

The mage took a sip from his wine, still wearing a very worried expression.

Nalion scratched his chin, thinking.
"Perhaps the priesthood of Arkay is of help here, too. They certainly
would not want Mannimarco to come to power once more either. If there only was
some artifact or a spell that could negate the effects of such a barrier. At
least in a certain area. Like the Turn Undead spell for example. Repelling
death. A holy aura."[609]

"Glacia's never been outside of Firsthold," his Lordship replied.
"There are some relatives, but we've already enquired of them and none of
them have seen her."

"Well, that certainly helps, in a way," Erenius says politely, trying

"Or she misspoke," His Lordship offered. "Perhaps she was trying

"Maybe," Erenius says in kind. "Hmm. "I see," Erenius says, biting his lower lip slightly. This was going
nowhere, and the Imperial was suprised at the general credulity that their
daughter was happy, and had no problems whatsoever that would be of pertinence

"Of course," Lord Rysleire replied. "There is nothing more
important to us than finding our daughter."
On that, at least, Erenius could see that that the aristocratic couple was
speaking truthfully. They were pompous, vain, and perhaps clueless about who
their daughter was ... but they wanted her safe.
[669]
"Good. If either
I or Reeds find anything we'll be sure to pass it along," Erenius says,
closing the conversation. "May you both have a good day, and I'll continue
looking."
He then leaves the Pavillion, for the Mages Guild, trying to catchup with
Reeds.
Finally beside the Argonian, he speaks again. "Did you find anything in

[673] Finally beside the Argonian, he speaks again. "Did you find anything in the Guild?"
[675]
"Not a blasted thing," Reeds replied as they walked, "The night
guide seemed honest enough, to be sure. Let's go over what we know so far; we
know she showed up at the Guild thirteen days ago looking for transport to Ald
Raathim, we know that she suddenly left the platform and left the guild, after
paying, mind you, so that would seem to suggest that she intended to
return. After that, the trail is cold."
"The docks were checked to no avail, as well as the Guild. Either we've
missed something, or she is still in Summerset Isle. We should check with the
guards at the city gates, see if any of them noticed her leave. Right now
though I think we should investigate the guild and the surrounding area.
Something doesn't sit right with me about this, and we need to wait for Isidor
in either case."
"Now then," Reeds stopped in front of the Mage's Guild, looking
around, "What, or who, around here could provide us with a link to
Glacia's chosen path?" [676]
"Might be
best," Erenius concurs with Reeds. "As for whom or what, after you
left the pavillion, her parents mentioned a good friend, by the name of Lady
Delphina Daille. While her parents did check with her, I think they missed
something important when the three spoke."
"I would like to make sure your aware that her parents said she had never
left Firsthold, for any reason," Erenius continues. "So I suppose
that means that in all likelyhood she's still in the city, or at least within a
very short distance of it."
He then considered the group's other options. With the docks, Guild, and her
parents queried, it seemed there were few enough leads to go by, for
anything. Waiting for Isidor, and a fresh view of things, would likely be best.

[801] Firsthold
The servants were being passed quickly by. Overhead, Isidor could see the
Firsthold guards, those robes figures who took pathways above the city and
could see all. They had not yet spotted the pursuit.
The girl ducked into a dockhouse where river boats were kept.
[803]
Not caring if they were pursued or not, Erenius weaves into the dockhouse after
the girl, yet looses sight of her. Inside, he awaits a response, taking the
respite as a way to catch his breath, and adjust his eyes to the dim lighting
inside. [804]
