Hello,
and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and
socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
Loranna's Roleplay, while an open roleplay where everyone is invited to
join, is not a limitless or unregulated game. There are rules we have set
ourselves that make roleplaying easier and more enjoyable for everyone of us.
Please take the time and read the following guidelines carefully and, more
importantly, act according to them.
1. Have fun!
2. Fun does not mean you can do whatever you want, though.
Let us please clarify some points. While everyone is welcome to join in, they
are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING
IT FIRST. Let's be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:
Affecting other characters:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission,
many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission,
either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or
otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player
involved.
Major Events:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political(converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
For the purpose of coordinating this RP, backstage fun and discussing current
and future events, we have established a chatroom on chatspike.net, chatroom
#Loranna_RP. We strongly recommend that you have a glimpse in there, since it
is the easiest and most convenient way to discuss characters and settings,
explain rules, plan and give you the background information you need to play in
this RP. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player
whose character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them
using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to
you.
Here are various other rules, tips and information you should take time
to read before joining this RP:
1. Background History:
Loranna's RP has accumulated a rich background history. Of course, no-one can
know all that has happened in this RP, but it is important that you have at
least an idea about the major events that took place during the last
one-and-a-half years. There are a few posts of Loranna that explain the history
of the RP from her character's viewpoint and a summary of the events in the RP
is in progress, you can find them
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html. Another summary is available as
text file from Nalion, please ask via our chatspike channel or per PM to Nalion
for the time being. We are working on a more permanent solution to provide this
information.
The chatroom #Loranna_RP on chatspike is probably the best and fastest way to
get yourself informed about the RP, just ask the moderators and long-time players
there if you need any information. They will gladly help you. It is also very
advisable to read up on the most recent posts and threads to become a grasp of
what is happening right now in the RP. This will significantly help you in
finding a way to join the action and will reduce the probabiliy of mistakes.
2. Reading and catching up on the RP:
We're a dedicated lot of players, and we love this RP. This means we put a lot
of effort in our posts, do a lot of planning and discussing to create our
plotlines. This requires time and dedication. And we require this of you as
well. This means, take your time to read the posts of the other players and
take the time to catch up on the plot if it progressed while you were away.
This simplifies your rejoin into the action. It is also a sign of respect to
the other players. If you don't have the time to read their posts, why should
they bother with yours, then?
Again, please let me repeat this, for it is very important. If you are not able
or willing to put time and at least reasonable effort in this RP, think again
whether you want to join this RP or not.
3. Gathering information
Gather information about the RP, be it asking in chat, by reading older posts
and getting up to date on the history or by asking via PM. No-one can know
everything, sure, but everyone can ask about what happened. We're glad to
assist! Again, this can not be done without some interest in the ongoings in
the RP, effort and a good bit of dedication.
4. Roleplaying
Roleplaying doesn't just involve making your character say something
(in-character chat). It also has a descriptive element. Motions and emotions of
your character, worries, joys, mimics, movements... we want to see them!
Describe how your character acts, this gives you a better grasp of your
character and will help your fellow players build up a relationship to your
character. It's not only action and big fights we have here in this RP, there
is a major social aspect to it as well.
5. Posting
Try to take your time to post. Yes, we are aware that there are hectic scenes,
like in big combats, where some things move faster, but is it in general a good
idea to look over your post again to check it. Yes, we know it sounds stupid
and obvious, but please care about spelling, punctuation and grammar. They are
not just things you learned in school once to forget afterwards. We are no
decryption experts. Those grammar rules have their meaning, and there are tools
out there to help you(word spell checker for example). Again, the chat is a perfect
way to ask for
time and coordinate with other players if you have problems.
6. Character control / multiple characters
Once more, about controlling characters that belong to other players: You
cannot control a character that is not your own (with a few exceptions, like
having talked to the player of the character beforehand). This means most of
the time the following:
* In combat, you can only try to attack another character, but whether
you hit him or how much damage is inflicted is up to the player of the
character, and only him/her.
* This applies to healing or helping the character as well; feel free to try
and offer help to a character, but let the other player describe the effects of
the healing/helping.
* Especially in combat, you have to work closely with the other players, the
chatroom is the best and easiest method to discuss these things.
Another thing related to this topic is referring or speaking to other
characters whose players are not online. If possible, try to avoid involving
characters when their player is not present. It ties down your character while
waiting for the other player to come back, and you don't know whether the
respective player has other plans when he is back.
Additionally, avoid generating scenes where you involve a character, affect him
with an action and finish the action before the player can react (stealing,
attacking, casting spells or similar actions). Example: No running up to
someone, rob him and run away to safety all in one post. This is a no go.
Controlling multiple characters. We have no written limits on how many
characters you may control; the limit is you. In general, it is very advisable
that you stick to one character when you are new to RPing. When creating a
character, it is VERY important that you consider your character carefully.
Again, this has something to do with effort and dedication. It is generally a
bad sign if you join up, post a couple of posts and then say you are bored with
this character and make a new one. Other players might get annoyed greeting and
introducing their characters to a new character when it is obvious that this
character will not last long because the player gets bored with the new
character. This RP is a social RP as well, and it is very difficult to socialize
with a character that is badly played, where you can see by the style of
writing that the player is already bored with the character and will throw him
away at the next opportunity. RPing is all about characters and your character
is your "representative" in this RP, your voice, your arm, your mind.
Please take this into account when creating and playing your character.
As a general rule of thumb, use only one character until you feel comfortable
with him, can control him, have fun with him and the character is established
in the RP. The rest will run automatically after a while when you get more
confident and experienced in RPing.
7. Secret plans
Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're
revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards
they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them. Examples: Your character
suddenly remembers that he has a castles all over Tamriel and calls in troops
to help. Or: Your character suddenly reveals he is a spy of the Emperor and
knows everything.
8. Ingame consequences of character actions:
Morrowind the game was rather lenient when it came to direct consequences after
a character's action. This is not the case in our RP. There are laws and local
customs, and there are guards and other authorities that are there to enforce
them. So, starting tavern brawls, stealing, murdering, open assault and all
other related actions are very likely to be persecuted and punished (this can
go up from your character ending up in jail, being banished or to be executed).
This doesn't mean that there are no murders or thefts in the RP, but it does
mean that if you do that, be aware of the consequences your character will have
to deal with.
9. Additional helpful information:
Please make sure that you read the following post of Allerleirauh
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855,
dealing with some of the above mentioned rules, as well as the hints on
character generation done by Loranna
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=3828224.
Please take the above mentioned rules and information into careful
consideration, they will help you in joining this RP quickly and are useful to
avoid problems. And more importantly: act according to them!
** Not following the above advice will only result in two things: your
post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone else as if it did not
happen and/or you are asked to leave the RP. This is obviously not good for
anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them and act according to
the rules mentioned above. **
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna: Loranna is in Ald Raathim, slowly coming to grips with
what happened to her friends, trying to help her husband deal with the horrors
that dance in his mind and her companions with what scars they bear.
Dayla has spoken with Anya once more, finding herself slightly frustrated that
she couldn't answer Anya's questions about why the Bosmer should care about
her, but teaching Anya in Bathogorgen lore and offering her an amulet to let
Anya come to Ashana's previous main hideaway, where an expansive library
awaits.[1]
Summary: Anya is in Slyvos' study, having just spoken with Nalion, Loranna, and
Slyvos.
IC: Anya turned to Loranna, taking a moment to glance at Slyvos, worry creasing
her eyes, "It's nice to see him improving... Loranna, what just happened
here? [2]
Well well,
Its been forever since I last wrote, but my ears have been scurrying around
like any good elf. I heard Faryon had a rather tence meeting with Prince Ebel
in which he got the neutrality of the Imperial Government, but not that of the
legions. Poor guy. He has given so much up for this trip, and to get such bad
results... Llana I heard is putting cheap worthless anti vampire charms around
her cabin, silly girl, where does she get these ideas?
I on the other hand, am watching the winter turn into autum here in Bravil, a
lovely site [3]

Loranna pauses at the doorframe, looking back to Anya. "I'm not sure; I
think we just skirted around the whole question of why vampires are generally
despised," she says, squeezing Slyvos's hand. "But then, I came in on
the tail end of the conversation."
" ... Dear, are you all right?" she asks Anya. "How did
this conversation start anyway?"[8]

Anya frowned, "He responded to me when I explained to Slyvos about the
feeling of hunting."
"Loranna, I'm not alright. Nalion was more right than I'd care to admit to
him. I'm not like the monsters we killed, turning childern, enslaving a
village, I know that. I'm not afraid of what I am, before Dayla found me and

Loranna is quiet for a long moment.
"I fear for the future myself, dear, for all of us," she says
quietly. "The greatest horror in facing a monster is that, in facing it,
we can become monsters ourselves. All of us have to face that, even Nalion and
myself."
"But you can't let fear stop you from doing," she continues.
"Hold to what you know is right, act upon that, and remember, you've got
people to help you from going over the edge. I fear for you too, but I've seen
monsters turned to the light before by the power of kindness and love; I don't
fear that you're doomed to be lost to us."[18]

Anya nodded, thankful no one had brought up her actions with her mater at Tel
Dresori this time. "Help Slyvos rest. I think I'll go back to my
mine."
Anya followed Loranna to the door, musing quietly, "I wonder how many of
the monsters became that way because they had trouble seeing what was
right." [23]

"Probably quite a few, and some I wager were kind and sweet and would
never look like the type to hurt anyone," Loranna says with a small smile.
"Good night dear; I'll see you tomorrow."
She leads Slyvos to their room, hoping that his dreams wouldn't torture him
tonight.[28]
Update
Kingston Mune, Korgari vampire, is taking in some of the lesser known
sights of the town of Ald Raathim, particularly the new village green, the
elegant square where the new Imperial Embassy, the Mages Guild, the House of
Dibella, and the adjunct Temple of the Tribunal are located.
Kethiah, ex-assassin and new mother is resting in her room with her new
baby, Eodir, while her husband and co-proprietor of the tavern runs the Nymph
and Noggin.[29]
Arynel sits thinking,
taking in the atmosphere, the happenings of recent days. There is something
savage about it all, something dark and hopeful and horrible. The Breton made
his way to Anya’s mine where he placed a letter at the entrance before leaving.
He left it unsigned.
If you are a monster we shall have to kill you.
If you are a vampire then you are already dead.
You must die unto yourself or you yourself will die. [30]
The next day, Loranna
awakens, her night having passedsomewhat fitfully. Slyvos, near as she could
tell, had at least drifted off to a sound sleep, and for that much she was
grateful as she rose to greet the day.
Her friends were still reeling from the events in Tel Dresori, but life
continued onward, cruely ignoring the pain of the heroes. The Archmagister
still had to be dealt with, her duties still awaited her, she grew closer and
closer to the day when she gave birth, and Ald Raathim still needed her Duchess
to help keep things on track.
The march of time brought some good with it, however; the tent town still stood
but between the new Resoultion of Zen and the village green, signs of Ald
Raathim's new future could be seen. The hidden route her friends had found
through the Velothi Mountains was already helping the citizens of Ald Raathim
forget the horrors of an uncertain future, and focus instead on what the people
of Daruhn did best - grow and prosper in the face of adversity. It was a
comforting enough sight that Loranna could temporarily forget her worries and
feel hopeful for the future herself, as she stands in the village green
admiring the growing embassy and Temple adjunct, and how they both complimented
the House of Dibella and the Mage Guild.
It was pretty, even beautiful, and she gave thanks.

The wealthier merchants of Ald Raathim had discovered the square, and were fond
of making promenades around it during their leisure hours. The Nymph was still
a popular place to dine, but the village green was becoming the place to live.
Among the construction were several townhouses for the upper classes.
The fashionable people bowed as the Duchess passed them, and among them was a
young Breton man with shoulder length blond hair and a deep tan. She recognized
him at once as Kingston Mune.[36]

Loranna greets people with her customary smile, quietly amazed at how Ald
Raathim was growing. She knew of the townhouses going up, of course, but
somehow, seeing all the construction going on made her feel ... almost like she
did when she made a potion. Something expected, but still magical and
wonderous.
She raises her eyebrows at the handsome Breton, saying politely "Good day,
my good sir. You look new to Ald Raathim; might I trouble you to walk with me
for a spell, and tell me what brings you to our fair city?" [41]

"Ah, Your Grace, I heard things were hot in Ald Raathim, and I'm always
attracted to that," Kingston replied, offering his arm to the Duchess as
they began to walk around the parkland. The plantings were still young, but it
promised to be a lovely place. Already there were flowers in abundance. When
they were a distance away from the rest of the strollers, Kingston added.
"There was a vampire in one of the Imperial Legion's fortresses to the
west, feasting on soldiers while they slept. Not enough to kill any of them,
but enough to make them wake up late for duty. Seemed like a security risk, so
I ate him."

Loranna didn't have Anya's innate ability to sense another vampire, but knowing
what she did about Kingston, she couldn't help but feel a tiny tingle of
concern, even fear, with him holding her by the arm. She was six months
pregnant, after all, and even though she was unusually accepting of beings
others would call evil monsters, she still didn't know just how much she could
trust the handsome Korgari. Anya, after all, was someone she knew and cared
about before her change; Kingston she had only just met.
Nonetheless, he had fought by her friends' side. And now, apparently, he had
done her another favor.
"I see," she says, sighing quietly, keeping her voice down. "I
... thank you for dealing with the matter, and for saving my friends in Tel
Dresori. From what I hear, it was a terrible ordeal for everyone."
She sighs again. "If I may ask, what will you do now? Do you intend to
stay in Ald Raathim?" She keeps her tone polite, mildly embarrassed by her
own forwardness, no matter how justified she thought it was. [51]

"It had its ups and downs," Kingston nodded, and continued on
casually. "But overall, it was quite satisfactory. My enemies the Diodata
were annihiliated, your enemies the Redoran suffered a major rout. Anya and her
mater have made steps towards understanding one another. Slyvos's old unseen
nemesis was destroyed. Yes, quite satisfactory, overall ..."

"I think it goes with your hair very nicely ... Oh, your question about
how long I intend on staying? Not long. Another night at tops, I think.

Loranna raises the rose, sniffing its fragrence. Deep, and tantalizing; she had
always liked roses when she was younger, though these days her tastes ran more
to lillies.
"Satisfactory, though many were lost," she argues mildly.

She'd been trying so hard to convince Anya that she could be something other

"The Cyrodillics," Kingston replied, warming to his subject.
"Obviously, they're the dominant tribe of the Imperial Province. Very
tricky. They can appear so human if they've fed often enough, that even other
vampires don't recognize them ... If I hadn't come across that one in the act

"As for the animal blood question, I'm not sure," Kingston replied
thoughtfully. "I've heard about vampires who do that solely, but they
don't last too long ... I don't know if it's the nutrition, or that the ones
who do that tend to hate their condition so much, that for one reason or

they've fed often enough, that even other vampires don't recognize them ... If
I hadn't come across that one in the act of feeding on that soldier, I wouldn't

Loranna feels a chill run through her. "Those Argonian brothers that look

she needed to ..."

"Candelight usually keeps them away, but I don't know if it's because it
exposes them as skeletons, or they just don't like it," Kingston smiled.
"And as for what they take, I mean everything. Any wounds they
inflict can never be healed. They say some of their more powerful members can
drain away a victim's intelligence or strength permanently as well ..."
When the vampire mentioned the candlelight, Loranna may have remembered the
creature Zadion and Morvath Pisquine interrogated, as Anya reported. It was
exposed as a Bonsamu when they brought the candlelight to its face.

[90]
Suddenly, Loranna felt much less certain about her driving away Morvath from
Ald Raathim. She knew how to defend herself from having her her power drained
from her magically; she was too interested in absorb spells herself not to
research the defenses to her favored attacks. But vampires, as she was learning
more and more, didn't always obey the same rules as magic.
It was enough to make Loranna wonder if she wouldn't have strapped a Bonsamu to
a table and begun experimenting herself, to learn if her magical defenses could
work agains their hunger. Who was she talking to earlier, when she was saying
the worst horror in facing a monster is that you risk becoming one yourself?
Her fear, however, gave way to resignation all too swiftly. "Charming;
I'll be sure to order a few cratefuls of candles for the castle," she
mutters. "The Keerilth, Anya has already met from what I understand;
beyond their ability to take a dog's form, is there anything notable about
them? And beyond the Cyrodiilic's ease in passing for human, do they have any
other powers or weaknesses?"
" ... And ... I've heard rumors of a clan that feeds on the flesh of
newborns; is this true?" Loranna asks after a brief second's hesitation.[91]

"Their Elders can become quite horrific beasts, I understand, but they're
pretty rare. The pups usually take out anyone who gets too big, in a pack if
need be," Kingston replied, smiling in the sunlight. "I don't know
the Cyrodillics too well, though ... But they're a powerful group. Strong
enough that other vampire tribes know well enough to stay out of the Imperial
Province."
Then he frowned, looking to Loranna. "I understand your concern about
vampires who feed on newborns ... I wish I could tell you they don't exist. But
I can think of at least four tribes with just that as their specialty ..."
They had made a circle around the park, and Kingston Mune frowned even deeper
when he saw Magister Zadion walking up the path towards them.[96]

Men; even undead men get overprotective of a threatened damsel, Loranna
notes, just managing to keep her tongue still. Again, the reason vampires
are monsters is not that they drink our blood or eat or flesh or tear away the
very essence of our beings - it's because they all started out as people,
normal, fallible people.
She inclines her head to Kingston. "Thank you again for your time and your

She looks back to Magister Zadion, saying "About our company dear

"I'm sorry about that, Your Grace," the Altmer mage frowned.

"I did notice, yes," Loranna says evenly, mildly surprised Kingston
wouldwillingly walk anywhere near water after Tel Dresori. "I am grateful
for the help he gave us, and for the information he's given me, but I had no
intention of inviting him to stay in the city. You're right; Anya is one thing,

She forces herself to give a small smile. "Though in some ways, he's still

Loranna sighs. "After the battle at Red Mountain, we held a great memorial
service for the fallen," she says, staring at the rose Kingston gave her.
"Captain Cyndarius of Freetown gave a great speech to the assembled crowd,
explaining how my first husband had become an Azurite and had his soul stolen
by Azura, and talking about how Slyvos had made a mistake long ago that cost
him his mortality, and how now two wrongs came together to make a right. It's
known among the older members of the city, though few people speak of it much

wasn't true that it had been so publically announced. Your husband is no longer
a lich, but he is a four thousand year old soul in another man's body by means
of a necromantic ritual. I fear ... Your Grace, there is no other way to put

Loranna's face darkens, proving that beautiful barmaids can look very, very

"Then the good Archmagister had better be ready for a fight, because if

I am so going to kill you later if this is a false alarm; Kingston's wrath
will be nothing compared to the icy embrace I shall envelop you in, dear,
Loranna mentally vows, though she only half means it. Already, the calmer, more
rational side of her was saying to talk to Kallen and call the Queen Mother and

Summary
Nalion
Nalion, a Breton mage, recently fought against vampires in Tel Dresori, was
captured in the progress, but was able to escape with the help of his
companions. He was wounded and the horrors he saw there still inger on his
mind. Outwardly, though, he seems fine enough. He has grave sorrows about
Anya's vampiric nature and has recently talked to her about it.
Nalion currently stays in Ald Raathim's castle.
Dana
Dana, a female Redguard bard and healer, had joined the party that was to go to
Tel Dresori on Nalion's request. She held herself up barely throughout the last
fights, then finally broke when she was home. The horrors had been too great.
After drinking more than was good for her, she made a scene in the Nymph and
Noggin asking about whether the heroes were too coldhearted to feel anymore.
She is now gradually sobering up in a bed in the tavern.
Gistral
Gistral, a Redguard warrior, is working on the reconstruction of Ald Raathim.

When Loranna returned to the castle, Alas and Alack were there to tell her the
news they had received from Llana (and double-checked with other sources). The
Altmer armada had launched a devastating attack against Tear, and was on its
way northward. They would be in the Inner Sea in but a few days.
[201]
Slyvos woke up
particularly late that day, the first things he muttered upon wakeing being
"not wet and dark... no tear apart? Good..." He got out of bed,
looking down at himself.
naked, or does fur count... robes, robes... He put on some simple robes
for a casual day, a dark purple in color, like he usual wore. At least he had
that much sense left in him, or maybe it was just what little bits he's
regained over the past few days that are helping. "wretched girl... wonder
what's going on."
He went down the hall and towards his library, where he had left off with the
wierd carving in the table; the rusty dagger he was useing for this purpose was
still imbedded in the table. "not done, not done..." [202]

[209] Shaka knocked on the study door. "Slyvos, got a minute?"
[211]
He stumbled over to the door for a moment, peaking through it enough so that he
could see that it was Shaka. "days to hours, hours to minutes... sure,
come in."
He went back to his desk rather quickly though, going back to carving the
strange letters into the table. [212]
Shaka studied the
Khajiit. Looks like hell. I can't imagine how bad he must have been
yesterday, before he at least got some sleep.
"Come on, Sly," said Shaka. "I'm breaking you out of here, going
to get you some fresh air. You can help me in the gardens. I told the servants
where you might end up this morning, so Loranna won't have to worry."

[218]
"gardens... flowers, flowers... ooh, ideas bloom. Let's go, fresh air
would be... nice." He said, tilting his head at the argonian. He got up
from his desk, stabbing the dagger back into the wood once more, and heading
towards the door. [219]
The two men walked to
Shaka's property, an hour's walk as usual. It would give Shaka a chance to talk
to Slyvos anyway. Hopefully this will be more therapeutic for him than
brooding in the tower like the lich he once was, thought the Argonian.
"Sly, remember the first time we worked together, chasing after Kethiah
when she had assassinated that orc mage? Flew over these same woods on the
parrapton that day." Shaka had to shake his head at the memory of that
crazy day with Loranna, Slyvos and himself.
"I didn't really know who you were. I must have seemed as dumb as a post
that day. Nothing new, huh, cat."

Slyvos looked at Shaka, his eyes unable to hide the jumbled mess his mind was

[229]
Shaka was a little dismayed to hear Slyvos sounding like some obscure oracle,
but took his words seriously.
"I guess that's something it takes a lifetime to learn, when to act and
when inaction makes more sense for the long run."
They arrived at the yurt's forest clearing. "I'll start some weeding and
trimming. Maybe you'd like to help clean up the fishpond a little. Just don't
eat a few of them, okay?" he said, smiling slightly. "You can help
digging and planting after that, maybe."
Shaka studied the other for a second. Outwardly Slyvos was a Khajiit, somewhat
younger than Shaka, but on the inside . . . . Shaka couldn't really comprehend
what four millennia of unlife had been like.
"Slyvos, I can see that Jazbet had character in his face. Did you ever
meet him when you were still a lich, or was his spirit already gone?"[230]

[234]
At the mention of Jazbet, Slyvos looked down at himself, as the name reminded
him of his final act of necromancy without inhibitions. The only other time
after that was a ritual that did little but harm him, but it did help them out
at one point... "know him... yes. Knew him, in his mind and from Loranna.
When accepted his presence was while myself was dead... then was when he
perished. And, now he stays dead, this body no longer his..."
He looked into the water of the pond, seeing the fish swimming around in it. [235]
"I think he's
happy, from what I've gathered from others of Loranna's company. And you, who
were once dreaded by mortals . . . You chose life again. You have a good woman
there, Sly. One of a kind."
As the two men worked, Shaka found himself thinking of what it would be like
for Slyvos and Loranna, and for Kethiah and Isidor. A child looking back at you
with love. Shaka felt a moment's regret.
He resumed digging. I'm set in my ways now. Maybe I wasn't meant for
fatherhood anyway. It was an old realization for Shaka; he had always been
able to set aside that regret and move on.[236]

"given the same choices, makeing them all over again for her would be the

got his robes and the fur on his face wet. "... worse fates I could

Shaka got him a towel, and they started on digging and planting. "That's

The battlemage worked in silence for a while.

something the Daedra can never really understand. Love . . . mortality . . .

"a god... what qualities to a god do you place? power, immortality,
wisdom? or something more..." slyvos asks, giving Shaka a sideways glance from
where he is standing.

whom live forever? Control and power to them, love seems..." He said, his

"Interesting. . . . I would have said power and the rest of it define what
it is to be a god. But what would something more be? I guess it's beyond my
imagination."
"That seems like a good point about the Daedra. Love means control to
them, and we've seen how they can feel jealousy, desire revenge, and many other
mortal failings. But if we feel superior to the gods in that respect, maybe we
should also ask ourselves what love often becomes among us mortals: also a

poof. To be a good, maybe something you need to create...? If the case this is,
are not all races gods unto themselves?"

I would have liked to have had a legacy. Part of me says that I'll leave little
behind when I'm gone; I'm not sure these gardens really count. Another part of

Shaka had to nod at that. "Maybe you're right. Thanks, Slyvos."

she failed to. Condemned to her personal hell, though it was disguised as power

He blinked, taking a step back and putting his hand to his own forehead. What
was shaka saying... he acted like a monster, and yet did good through this. A
paradox if he'd ever heard one... "perhaps... my turn it is, to thank you,
I see. Thinking about it..."
He went looking around the rest of the garden, trying to keep himself occupied

was it he wanted to ask again? what what what...
He looked around the garden for a moment, taking in all the flowers and plants
growing in and around it. Very lovely flowers... "if take a few flowers,

Sly smiled, taking a few flowers. A golden kanet flower, a tisma come-by, and a
thorned red rose, was all he took. A flower was pretty, not as pretty as those
recieving them though.
"thank you, shaka." he said, letting the argonian lead the way back
to the city. [293]
Shaka put a hand on
Slyvos' shoulder reassuringly, and they hiked back to Ald Raathim.
He walked up to Slyvos' study with the Duke and left him so that Slyvos could
have time alone with Loranna. Shaka walked out of the castle gate and, having
no other plans for now, decided to see the square that had formed with the
construction of the new temple, embassy, and other buildings. [294]
Summary for Erenius:
He's currently enjoying a meal of various greens, an egg from a local Kwama
mine, and a water, having taken in a few too many drinks the previous afternoon
when he talked with Slyvos. Even so, with a filling stomach, Erenius still
thinks on the response he gave to Slyvos the prior afternoon, finally realizing
that the he had misinterpreted it. Regardless, he shrugs it off, turning his
attention the rest of the tavern, observing the rest of the tavern. [295]
Slyvos went into his
library for a few minutes, getting a piece of parchment out from under his
desk, and ripping off little squares from it. Two, precisely.
"hmm..."
He scribbled a little something on the two, and attached one of them to the
rose, and another to the golden kanet. The tisma-come-by was left as is though,
as it's reciever would realize who put it where it was.
First, and probably the one stop he was most familiar with, was Loranna's study.
Seeing that his wife was not in at the moment, he placed the tisma-come-by
flower on her desk, on top of one of the opened books. she'll like it...
he thought with a smile, before leaving the room, closeing to door shut behind
him to show almost no sign that someone had been in there.
Now, for his next stop, the Nymph and Noggin. a present for the new mother,
yes? he thought, as he made his way there, seeming alittle less pitiful and
insane then the last time. [296]

little more then the occasional twitch, and the wild look in slyvos' eyes.

The second flower was
delivered, and slyvos was alittle happier. He couldn't get it to the intended
person exactly, but he trusted Isidor to give to the new mother. He still had
one flower left to give though, the rose.
He wasn't going to find this person in town though most likely, so, he went towards
a certain mine belonging to none other then Anya.
After a bit of a trip to get out without a hassle to the mine, he began to
attempt the usual methods of getting someone's attention when you're out of a
home and they are in it. No one there...
He sighed, pulling out an arrow he had brought with him from the armory just in
case of this kind of incident, and tied the rose with the piece of paper on it
to the arrow, putting it into the wood of the door.
The note said:
to my good friend Anya; may the sun never shine on you, for it would burn
far too badly, no? Don't fear what you are, don't fear what the others might do
in fear.
The rose, beautiful and yet no where near defenseless. Suiting, considering who
it is given to, no?
Hopeing you see this in case I didn't give it directly - Slyvos
His blood was dripped a bit on the stem and on the petals of the rose, from him
holding it as he did despite the thorns. He started to walk away from the mine,
in the direction of the city once more. [324]
Anya entered her home,
finding two notes waiting for her.
The first one disturbed her to a level. She thought she might have recognized
the handwriting, but was unable to place it to anyone or any setting. Die
unto myself?
Anya tossed it on a desk, and left it be. She picked up the small rose,
smelling it. Her nose was tickled with the scent of the flower, overwhelmed
with his blood. It caused her to crack a small, lopsided smile. She couldn't
remember the last time Slyvos was as forthcoming to give her a rose.
Placing the rose in a jar, she walked to her three cattle. It was becoming
easier to discern the sigil on their chests, now that she knew how to look for
them. Anya pursed her lips in irritation, wishing she had learned how to make
them. It might have helped to place them around, maybe Ald Raathim but at least
around her grounds, but she wasn't sure exactly how it worked. She couldn't
help but think that the three rounded lines forming a triangle looked
interesting. [325]
Loranna sits in her
study, a rose in one hand, a tisma-come-by in the other, her eyes not really
focused on anything.
She had come into her office with a whirlpool of thoughts dragging her spirits
down, slowly but inexorably. Kingston had said she didn't have a vampire
problem; she wanted to believe him, but she still felt a need to confirm. Maybe
Anya could find out from her mater, who she seemed to be talking to now? But
then, there was the note Kingston had found, and Nalion's worried words the
night before; Anya's struggles to accept herself might be over but now she
faced a struggle to find acceptance with her friends, or maybe she was
over-reacting there, misreading Nalion's concern ...
Then there was Archmagister Traven's imminent arrival, and the threat of him
taking away the Mage Guild - at a time when Ald Raathim needed all the
resources it could get. They were recovering from the attack yes, but the
Guild's teleportation chamber was a big reason why they were recovering as fast
as they were, and to lose it now would hurt the city ... though the Altmer were
on their way, so maybe it wouldn't, but damnit, to judge it all based on her
husband ... !
And Slyvos ... he had felt like he was starting to recover when she talked with
him the other night, and opened up to him, but she knew enough to know that
wounds like this didn't go away quickly, and that months, even years, from now,
they'd still be dealing with the aftermath of Ashana's revenge - but now, she had
to find her husband and push him to be ready for a diplomatic meeting, with the
next day or two!
... and what of their baby? How would Slyvos's pain affect his ability to be
the father of their baby? Could she be there for him and for their baby both at
once?
"I'm going mad," Loranna had whispered as she felt herself being
pulled down by her thoughts - and then she saw the flower waiting for her,
obviously left by Slyvos himself, and for a moment, all she could do was sit
and smile, and twirl both her flowers between her fingers. And then she had
just sat back and tried to clear her head for a moment, and quite lost track of
time, until she came to with a start.
" ... I can't keep pushing myself like this," she muttered, as she
carefully put both flowers in a small vase and watered them. Then, she went out
again, looking for her husband, to ask him to save their city from a loss it
could not endure.

"Young?" valerius looked up at Bob, "I'm a middle aged man who
happens to be a soldier, I am very old by comparison in my line of work. And
more trouble than it's worth it seems," Valerius looked into his drink
again, "these recruits, these former slaves... They don't fight like
anything I've ever seen before. There's hardly any teamwork, mostly mob
tactics, but it's so damn efficient... One of my Argonian recruits was in a
duel, took eighteen slash wounds before he went down. But take these and put
them in Cyrodiilic columns and ranks, and they get mowed down like wheat."

Bob let out a booming laugh, "Age is a funny issue, young soldier. What
would you say to a career in which this was but a fold of one hundred
others?"
"Mob-tactics aren't efficient, only brutal. Teamwork is efficient, and at
times can be mutually exclusive of formations. Teach a soldier to look out for
his comrade, teach him how to look out for his comrade properly.
Wouldn't it have been better that the recruit took no slashes at all? No scrib

"Forgive my brashness, but it must be said. They have joined a force that
is defending those that can't fight. They have a greater good as their charge,
this is good. But the greater good, the pay, the place to call home, it matters

only looking out for themselves, to hell with the others. They know their

The frustration in Slyvos's eyes both upsets and relieves Loranna: upset,
because she fully agrees with Slyvos that to expect him to be at more than his
best so soon ater Tel Dresori is ludicrious; relieved, because despite the stress
Slyvos has suffered, he's aware enough to realize what's going on around him.
The healing process has already begun, thank the Nine.
Nonetheless, there was no easy answer to her husband's question, and she smiles
sadly, squeezing his hand. "Kallen and I have been discussing this,"
she tells Slyvos. "I was going to have to intorduce you to the ins and

Indeed he was not. Eodir's eyes, now fully open and taking in everything
all around him, seemed entranced by Shaka's Argonian features. He reached
out with one pudgy hand to touch his godfather's snout, and giggled.
"An instant bond," Kethiah smiled.
[484]
Shaka smiled at the baby, as much as an Argonian could be said to. "To
think that he will live long into a Fourth Era, no doubt. Eodir will probably
be a great fighter, maybe an explorer. The wonders he'll see . . . ."[485]

[487] "I left word at the Guildhouse that I would enjoy seeing Traven again when he was available," Morgiah smiled. The old glint of wheels turning were in her eyes. "Best not to rely on Guild gossip to get him here ... Rinnala's quite well. I think our little voyage at sea was beneficial to her, and she has never been to Morrowind before, so her mind is on the adventure and seeing new things, not on her brother and all the other matters of Firsthold. It is kind of you to ask about her."
[489]
Oh Dibella, she's getting her old fire back, Loranna thinks to herself. I
better watch myself ...
"She's a beautiful young girl; I'm glad to hear she's doing well,"
Loranna says, smiling. "When Ald Raathim is doing better, I'd love to have
her come and see our city."
It was time to move on to business, Loranna feels. "So, Muthsera, what
shall we discuss first, now that you are here?" [490]

Slyvos just looked Morgiah right in the eyes, waiting a moment before speaking.
"no matter how horrid necromancy is, one life is too many to give in the
cause of destroying it. If we need for him to understand that I'm an asset,
fine, I will show him. I will not tolerate him near me for a moment though, if

"Let us not forget that Slyvos has withstood many a danger already, and he
has faced one of the most gruesome things a father can suffer through. And he
has prevailed, though not unscathed. This is a feat I bow to, for I do not know
if I would have prevailed if I had been in his place." [701]
Vaan's Summary:
Vaan is still in that city of organic spires, yes. I bet by now he's climbed
quite far up the ladder, if you know what I mean.
Necron's Summary:
Necron is relaxing happily in Ald Raathim. He still hasn't conferred with
Kratos, thanks to his wayward desires to explore the city (OOC: More likely,
thanks to my STUPID internet.[702] [703] ).
If he was aware of Archmagister Traven's intentions to take the Mages Guild
away, he'd have one good solution: Threaten to offer that the Telvanni set up
shop instead (works like a charm in making the MG stay!). He is, however,
blissfully unaware, and thus will not be offering that solution. Thank god. [704]

P'Rassha summary, Ald
Raathim:
After a really emotionally straineous night, the huge Cathay-raht needed to
change his mind. He decided to claim a small portion of the city abandoned
since the attack by the False Tribunal followers.
During the day, with a couple of friendly (yet well-paid) dunmers, he restored
the foundation of a now-dead trader's shop. The rest of the building was
completly destroyed by the crabs. At the end of the day, there was still a lot
to do before calling the rubbles a building again (no walls, no roof, no
furniture), P'Rassha was proud of his work and went to the Nymph and Noggin to
enjoy another evening. [733]

Zadion was indeed there, with Archmagister Hannibal Traven, a tall,

flesh that could be seen was covered in white tattoos, which Slyvos noted were
wards against the undead.

and nodded. "then I shall show you in... but, first I will have to unlock
it, of course."
He walked over to the door leading into his study, and pulled out a strangely
shaped key, and after a few turns of it the door was opened. "feel free to
look around... but, please, return all books to their places when done."
he said, stepping aside to let the two mages in.
[854]
Hannibal Traven and Charroah walked past the heavy door into Slyvos's private
library. Charroah's eyes went to the strange carvings on the desk, and Traven's
to the books on the shelves. There were not very many, but passing the chests
along the side of the room, he noticed a few that were interesting.
"Chimer?" he asked, smiling. "What are your areas of interests
these days, your Grace?"

[860]
Loranna watches Hannibal and Charroah with a hidden unease, due both to the
nature of the books in this study, and the idea of people going through her
husband's old things. Not only that, but she wasn't sure what to make of
Hannibal thus yet; he seemed to be acting like he was already considering
Slyvos's value as an ally against necromancy, which ought to reassure her - yet,
she didn't quite feel reassured.
And Slyvos ... this was torture for him, a private man to begin with, and
wanting to put his past behind him...[861]

He smiled, simply enough, as they poked through his private belongings.
"well, I suppose you could say I am trying to bring old methods of magic
and alter them to fit into the more modern system used widely today." for
my own personal useage, for I wouldn't trust anyone but loranna with that kind
of knowledge....
Really, he was very much hating this, seeing people he barely knew going

"Slyvos is especially skilled with enchanting, having lived through three
ages worth of development of the craft," Loranna says, piping up.
"And some of the old texts of ancient Chimeri medicinal practices are of
great interest to alchemical students, such as myself."[871]

"Old methods?" Hannibal asked. "Mysticism or Necromancy?"
Charroah walked to the desk, looking intently at the carvings on it.
"Slyvos does not practice necromancy anymore," Morgiah said

Taking her leave of Morgiah, Loranna leads Slyvos back to their room; he could
