The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Playing Houses

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
Loranna's Roleplay, while an open roleplay where everyone is invited to
join, is not a limitless or unregulated game. There are rules we have set
ourselves that make roleplaying easier and more enjoyable for everyone of us.
Please take the time and read the following guidelines carefully and, more
importantly, act according to them.
1. Have fun!
2. Fun does not mean you can do whatever you want, though.
Let us please clarify some points. While everyone is welcome to join in, they
are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING
IT FIRST. Let's be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:
Affecting other characters:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
Major Events:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political(converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the
badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in
the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
For the purpose of coordinating this RP, backstage fun and discussing current
and future events, we have established a chatroom on chatspike.net, chatroom
#Loranna_RP. We strongly recommend that you have a glimpse in there, since it
is the easiest and most convenient way to discuss characters and settings,
explain rules, plan and give you the background information you need to play in
this RP. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player
whose character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them
using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to
you.
Here are various other rules, tips and information you should take time
to read before joining this RP:
1. Background History:
Loranna's RP has accumulated a rich background history. Of course, no-one can
know all that has happened in this RP, but it is important that you have at
least an idea about the major events that took place during the last
one-and-a-half years. There are a few posts of Loranna that explain the history
of the RP from her character's viewpoint and a summary of the events in the RP
is in progress, you can find them
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html. Another summary is available as
text file from Nalion, please ask via our chatspike channel or per PM to Nalion
for the time being. We are working on a more permanent solution to provide this
information.
The chatroom #Loranna_RP on chatspike is probably the best and fastest way to
get yourself informed about the RP, just ask the moderators and long-time
players there if you need any information. They will gladly help you. It is
also very advisable to read up on the most recent posts and threads to become a
grasp of what is happening right now in the RP. This will significantly help you
in finding a way to join the action and will reduce the probabiliy of mistakes.
2. Reading and catching up on the RP:
We're a dedicated lot of players, and we love this RP. This means we put a lot
of effort in our posts, do a lot of planning and discussing to create our
plotlines. This requires time and dedication. And we require this of you as
well. This means, take your time to read the posts of the other players and
take the time to catch up on the plot if it progressed while you were away.
This simplifies your rejoin into the action. It is also a sign of respect to
the other players. If you don't have the time to read their posts, why should
they bother with yours, then?
Again, please let me repeat this, for it is very important. If you are not able
or willing to put time and at least reasonable effort in this RP, think again
whether you want to join this RP or not.
3. Gathering information
Gather information about the RP, be it asking in chat, by reading older posts
and getting up to date on the history or by asking via PM. No-one can know
everything, sure, but everyone can ask about what happened. We're glad to
assist! Again, this can not be done without some interest in the ongoings in
the RP, effort and a good bit of dedication.
4. Roleplaying
Roleplaying doesn't just involve making your character say something
(in-character chat). It also has a descriptive element. Motions and emotions of
your character, worries, joys, mimics, movements... we want to see them!
Describe how your character acts, this gives you a better grasp of your
character and will help your fellow players build up a relationship to your
character. It's not only action and big fights we have here in this RP, there
is a major social aspect to it as well.
5. Posting
Try to take your time to post. Yes, we are aware that there are hectic scenes,
like in big combats, where some things move faster, but is it in general a good
idea to look over your post again to check it. Yes, we know it sounds stupid
and obvious, but please care about spelling, punctuation and grammar. They are
not just things you learned in school once to forget afterwards. We are no
decryption experts. Those grammar rules have their meaning, and there are tools
out there to help you(word spell checker for example). Again, the chat is a
perfect way to ask for
time and coordinate with other players if you have problems.
6. Character control / multiple characters
Once more, about controlling characters that belong to other players: You
cannot control a character that is not your own (with a few exceptions, like
having talked to the player of the character beforehand). This means most of
the time the following:
* In combat, you can only try to attack another character, but whether
you hit him or how much damage is inflicted is up to the player of the
character, and only him/her.
* This applies to healing or helping the character as well; feel free to try
and offer help to a character, but let the other player describe the effects of
the healing/helping.
* Especially in combat, you have to work closely with the other players, the
chatroom is the best and easiest method to discuss these things.
Another thing related to this topic is referring or speaking to other
characters whose players are not online. If possible, try to avoid involving
characters when their player is not present. It ties down your character while
waiting for the other player to come back, and you don't know whether the
respective player has other plans when he is back.
Additionally, avoid generating scenes where you involve a character, affect him
with an action and finish the action before the player can react (stealing,
attacking, casting spells or similar actions). Example: No running up to
someone, rob him and run away to safety all in one post. This is a no go.
Controlling multiple characters. We have no written limits on how many
characters you may control; the limit is you. In general, it is very advisable
that you stick to one character when you are new to RPing. When creating a
character, it is VERY important that you consider your character carefully.
Again, this has something to do with effort and dedication. It is generally a
bad sign if you join up, post a couple of posts and then say you are bored with
this character and make a new one. Other players might get annoyed greeting and
introducing their characters to a new character when it is obvious that this
character will not last long because the player gets bored with the new
character. This RP is a social RP as well, and it is very difficult to
socialize with a character that is badly played, where you can see by the style
of writing that the player is already bored with the character and will throw
him away at the next opportunity. RPing is all about characters and your
character is your "representative" in this RP, your voice, your arm,
your mind. Please take this into account when creating and playing your
character.
As a general rule of thumb, use only one character until you feel comfortable
with him, can control him, have fun with him and the character is established
in the RP. The rest will run automatically after a while when you get more
confident and experienced in RPing.
7. Secret plans
Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're
revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards
they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them. Examples: Your character
suddenly remembers that he has a castles all over Tamriel and calls in troops
to help. Or: Your character suddenly reveals he is a spy of the Emperor and
knows everything.
8. Ingame consequences of character actions:
Morrowind the game was rather lenient when it came to direct consequences after
a character's action. This is not the case in our RP. There are laws and local
customs, and there are guards and other authorities that are there to enforce
them. So, starting tavern brawls, stealing, murdering, open assault and all
other related actions are very likely to be persecuted and punished (this can
go up from your character ending up in jail, being banished or to be executed).
This doesn't mean that there are no murders or thefts in the RP, but it does
mean that if you do that, be aware of the consequences your character will have
to deal with.
9. Additional helpful information:
Please make sure that you read the following post of Allerleirauh
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855,
dealing with some of the above mentioned rules, as well as the hints on
character generation done by Loranna
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=3828224.
Please take the above mentioned rules and information into careful
consideration, they will help you in joining this RP quickly and are useful to
avoid problems. And more importantly: act according to them!
** Not following the above advice will only result in two things: your
post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone else as if it did not
happen and/or you are asked to leave the RP. This is obviously not good for
anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them and act according to
the rules mentioned above. **
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna: Loranna is in Ald Raathim, having learned of a potential
source of information regarding a paththrough the Velothi Mountains, and
approved Alas's and Alack's plans to build a church of Zenthiar for Ald Raathim
to bless the city's commerce, thus cementing Ald Raathim's position as the most
cosmopolitan and Aedra-influenced city in Morrowind.
Gram Pyrel, on the other hand, has completed the mission to find Sivartus's
grandfather's hidden study, and hopefully in the process discover a usable land
route for Ald Raathim. He is currently doing something that will entail
cracking open some skulls .

"No, this was just another vampire. I- I don't want to talk about the

"Shaka, I just don't know what to do anymore."

The Argonian was silent for a while, content to hold her. "I still think
you've come a long way from when you were turned; it's been less than two
months. I was afraid at first that I'd lost you, that you were a demon who
happened to still look like a beautiful woodelf. . . . But you proved me and
everyone else wrong."
"I'm not surprised that animal blood doesn't satisfy you, but I don't know
what to tell you, Anya. Maybe we need to go back to Loranna and tell her you're
still having trouble maintaining control."

Anya looked up and shook her head, "Loranna already knows. I've talked
with her already with less than desirable conclusions."
Her eyes focused in. The way she had leaned in, his neck was put at eye level.
Impulsively she reached up with a hand and lightly glided her fingers over his
scales. They felt immensely different than the smooth skin of Telera, or the
ticklish fur of Kiseena. More exotic, and enjoyable in ways that others
couldn't provide.
Her eyes darted as she swiftly pulled her hand down. Burying her head in his
arm, she whispered, "I love you..."

"My ain true love," he answered in a low voice. Shaka
was close to choking up; Anya hadn't asked to lose her life to the shapeshifter
Dayla.
He almost said aloud that Anya might have to use her Cattle after all. Shaka
didn't want to anger his love.
"Anya, do you want to try staying at the yurt tonight? I'm offering it
freely." Shaka looked steadily at the bosmer, both of them knowing it
would mean her drinking from him.
As long as she can keep herself from killing me, he thought.

A servant from the castle enters the Nymph and Noggin, looking

She pointed to Cheydinhal, which was just visible on the map, and then her

village where I met my guide,' she poked at a piece of the map mear miles from

to a band of mountians, 'although the pass is quite high, and apparently
impassable during winter, its quite serviceable during the summer months. There

Impassable in winter; damn Imperials giving up because of the snow, Loranna thinks
to herself in a rare moment of pure Nordic stubborness. Still ... maybe if a
couple actual Nords go look at this pass ...
"I see; I never knew about Angerel," Loranna says, musing over the
map. "Did your guide mention much about that ruin?"
I'll have to ask my father to check this out; he likes poking around places
like that ... Loranna thinks, smiling a brief 'Wicked Daughter Planning Doom

import/export agent, and secretly, her Spymaster) is asleep in her room at the

Alas and Alack, Khajiti ex-smugglers and currently (secretly) the Duchess's

The Docks of Ald Raathim
Two boats sailed into harbor, flying the symbol of the Anvil, the symbol of the
Resolution of Zenithar. On board both ships were fifty men and mer dedicated to
their God, and to the temple they were building to him.
Alas and Alack looked at one another. They had picked up their uniforms at the
tailors, and looked every bit the part of Priests of Zenithar.
Immediately, they put the men to work on the warehouses.

"Let me get back to you on that in a day or two," Loranna says,
smiling back. "I need to talk to some people ..."
The two women talked a bit more after that, mostly about ways Llana could help
attract some more business for Ald Raathim through her engravings; Loranna
promised to introduce Llana to some people who would find her services helpful.
At the end, both women went their seperate ways, feeling pleased at having made
a fruitful acquaintance this day.

A most impressive object was being unloaded carefully from the second ship: a
hundred-foot tall obelisk made of alabaster so finely polished, it reflected
back shades of the sea and sky. A crowd of villagers, sailors, and merchants
had gathered among the docks to watch it be unloaded, and carried to the

"Mmm," Alas said thoughtfully.
"Ah," Alack added.
They paid Llana as agreed for her information, and took a peek at the map that

They were only kept waiting a few moments. Marching out of the city in a short
squat column were six men, armored as was normal in Ald Raathim's army, their
shields on their backs underneath a large pack. At their head was Valerius.
They arrived at the farmhouse and greeted Erenius and his men.
"Alright Erenius, you've been out here before," Valerius says to him,
"Where should we start?"

"We are somewhere around here," he says, pointing to a modest plot of
land marked on the map a very short distance from the road.
"This road," Erenius says, nodding to the road by which they stood.
"Should take us right to the edge of the forested area. From there theres
a narrow path leading to the cave almost directly. After that, I suppose we
just fan out and hope we find something."

do any trailblazing this early in the trip."
They formed up and moved out down the road.

After covering quite some distance, the road slowly turned
north, very gradually. As it did so, Erenius and the others make their way
across the distance seperating the treeline and the road.
A short distance in, a path, about two fathoms in width and a good distance in
length, came to view. The eleven make their way along the path. The path itself
was of packed dirt, and the footprints from the trip Erenius took with Sivartus
and the others were still visible, albeit very faintly.
"Just follow these tracks," Erenius tells them as they continue.

caves, seeing as how where there is one, there are usually others in the
vicinity. And even if there are no others, I thought I may as well give
you a good place to set up for further searches," Erenius concludes.
"It would be a good place to set up an outpost. That is with the Breton's
permission of course." Valerius replied. "Hopefully other places like
that will be easy to find."
"I beleive," Valerius stated, "We're getting close. I think I
see those mushrooms you spoke of ahead."

"So we have," Erenius replies, going forth and looking
about to try to get his bearings. After a few moments though, he saw two
kagouti corpses, both killed in a similar manner, and starting to rot. Stepping
about the corpses, Erenius moves about some of the foilage, revealing the
cave's entrance.
"This is the study," Erenius says. "I'd imagine theres a few
more also in this hilllside somewhere. But I'm not positive there are other
caves that close by."

The other three spread out to the east and south, also searching.

Loranna and her infamous heroes

Nalion sat at a table in the Nymph and Noggin, a scroll in front
of him and a glass of wine at his side. He looked briefly up at the girl that
just had entered. Folding the scroll and tugging it back to a leatcher case at
his side, Nalion took a sip from his wine and looked around for some familiar
faces.

Commander Slashes-With-Claws entered the Nymph and Noggin. He
was looking forward to the trip ahead, a chance to get out of the city for a
while. He had his dwarven claymore on his back. He had gotten it a few years
ago in a ruin like the one they were going to.

Shaka was already suited up and armed. He waited on a bench in the Nymph, feet
propped up on a chair. The open road was calling, he had to admit.
The prospect of exploring dwemer ruins was an interesting one. Shaka had been
an amateur tomb raider in the past; perhaps they would get to see ruins that
hadn't been as badly stripped as many.
He looked over at Anya, in her hooded cloak and armor. Shaka was glad that the
Bosmer had decided to join the expedition. It might help take her mind off
things . . . .

Erenius enters the Nymph and Noggin, having found no caves or
places of use in the area. However, he returned alone, his men having stayed out
to aid Valerius should he wish to continue the search.
Inside he sees many assembling. Never one to pass up a trek westward, he joins
them.

Gram Pyrel enters the Nymph and Noggin, armored and equipped for
another trip; in light of the nature of the excursion he has thrown a bearskin
cloak over his armor.
"Hail, friends," he says, noding to Nalion and Shaka before turning
to Llana. "And you must be Llana; Gram Pyrel, called Gram the Bold and
Gram Twilightslayer, at your service. My daughter sends her greetings and
well-wishes for us all, but sadly cannot see us off; she was called away on
some noble business or another that I didn't quite catch."
"Fortunately," he adds with a wink, "I managed to get the mead
fund fro mher before she took off."

Reichi sat in the Nymph and Noggin, fully suited and armed, but
leaning back in a chair with his feet propped up on the table. Reichi of
course, had made sure his boots weren't dirty before doing so. The barmaids
would've given him hell about it. His head turned towards the door as a female
bosmer entered.

Summary, sorta:
Telera is combing the ruined buildings left from the battle to find any
vampires who may be hiding within, using them for cover during the day. She has
been using detect spells to give herself a sense of where creatures are in the
ruins and to avoid being caught unawares. However, so far she has only turned
up a few animal dens of animals large enough to be noticed by her detect
spells. Of course, given the nature of at least some of the vampires in the
area, it’s quite possible that she found some vampires, not that she knows
about that particular trick yet.

Reichi entered the Mages' Guild and made his way to the Guild Guide, where he

himself in another guild hall, this one however built in a more cyrodiilic
style, and it wasn't as warm as the one in Ald Raathim had been.
The residents of the guild of course, couldn't help but stare at the oddly
armored silver-haired Dunmer. Reichi grinned toothily at them, and quickly made

Gram
looks puzzled at Anya's assertion, and impressed with Anya's charming
demeanor. Still, he wonders if the Bosmer girl doesn't spend a little too
much time talking with that Dibellan of a daughter of his.
"No trouble at all; like most people he simply wished to bask in the glory
of true heroes," Gram says to Llana, grinning broadly. "Hello
young Dunmer; so, you wish to go mountain climbing with us, you
say?" His eyes fall on Athaso's rusted blade and his grin turns to a
frown. "You're not planning on going out just with that, are
you?" he mutters.
Athaso grinned slightly, "I'm afraid it's about all I can afford. It's not
much but, I haven't done much fighting lately." He then greeted the others
who had introduced themselves to him, "It's nice to meet you," he
said as most did instinctively when meeting new people.

Athaso stepped out from behind Llana revealing a medium sized Dunmer, equipped with little more than a pair of steel pauldrons and an old rusted iron longsword at his side; a worn, sun bleached, leather cloak flowing behind him. He nodded to the group of mismatched adventurers and spoke confidently, "I wish to accompany you through the Velothi (is that right?) Mountains, if you do not mind having me along."
Slashes eyed the dunmer. "Greetings, I am Commander Slashes-With-Claws.
Any help is always apreciated." Slashes made a mental note to keep an eye
on the dunmer as Slashes did not know if he had any alegiances to a particular
house.

Anya smiled disarmingly, "Pleasure is mine."
She frowned at his sword, "Oh this won't do at all, that will shatter at

For a dark elf, Athaso seemed likable enough, Gram muses. Still, it'd be the
height of foolishness to let the boy go out into the world with a rusted weapon
his only defense.
"Well, point me in the direction of the nearest weapon trader and we'll
see about getting you a good steel blade at least," he says to the Dunmer.

blacksmith there who can help Sethan with his sword problem'

The road to the Pass ascended gradually, and after a few hours
Shaka found himself taking the warmer clothing out of his gear bag. Reman's
Ridge proved to be no more than a hamlet, with a frontier feeling to it. There
seemed to be little more to it than a single tavern and a few herders' homes.
He walked along a board sidewalk in search of the blacksmith, with the others.

Erenius looks about Reman Pass, finding it nice and quiet, yet
quite chilly. Luckily, he had brought an insulated leather jerkin to wear
beneath his armour, which kept his chest warm, yet did little for his arms and
legs. He didn't mind that though, the cold kept him alert, and soon enough he'd
be warmer again when they got moving out of the town and down the other side of
the pass and back into Morrowind.

P'Rassha worked for a couple of hours in the city, helping with the

Dana.
The huge khajiit was disappointed, but felt really weird at the same time. He

NO, he doesn't like that woman. She's is a competitor and her attitude is

P'Rassha finally approached Dana and sat at her table without asking her

"Greetings, Redguard, P'Rassha is happy to see you here. Do you know where

And even though he openly dislike Dana, he sounded sincere about his happiness.

the mariners began tieing it to the port.
The many other ships docked as well and soon the Temple warriors were unloading
their gear and supplies. Many boxes of food and clothing had been brought with
them and it was their intention to donate it to Ald Raathim's needs.
Kratos walked the gangplank down to the ground, his golden and black Indoril
Armor glimmering in Magnus' rays. He took a few minutes handing out orders to
guide his free but loyal men before taking a short break just staring out at
his surroundings.
It was not the same Ald Raathim he had left for Molag Mar, it was different
now: bigger, busier, and wartorn. Kratos frowned as he saw the many people
struggling to get through the horrible time, he was used to this from the many
battles he had fought on Vvardenfell.
Molag Mar had recovered from battles before, and Ald Raathim would too in time.
Kratos was relieved to see his house had only suffered mild damage compared to
the rest of the city as he made his way to the Castle Daruhn.
The ex-Ordinator stood before the guards at the gate, his posture even more
battle-hardened then it had been before. "May I ask you to tell the
Duchess that one Kratos is here to see her?" said the Dunmer, his voice serious
and deferential.

Gram looks at Erenius with an almost lazy stare, but says
"I'm all in favor of moving onward; let us follow the fair Llana into

Glancing over at Anya, he adds "And I'll drink your share of the mead at
the end to keep it even," with a grin.

"Hah, mean? Quite the opposite actually. It's been a few hours, and I
already have recieved new equipment," he said as he slipped on the

restarted their hike, "Yes I seem to remember..." he finished

"Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to hold you up...who am I to stand in the way
of friendship, perhaps we can have that drink another time. You'd best be on
your way"
"Thank you, P'Rassha will be happy to drink sometimes with a new
friend."
He looked back at Dana and smiled. After a second, he realised he was doing
exactly the opposite he wanted to do and ran outside, in the direction of the
Mage Guild.
Following the traces of Gram and his companions was easy. A nord, two
argonians, a bosmer and an imperial don't go unoticed. He managed to catch up
with them a couple of hours later, thanks to Violetta and her power over P'Rassha's
speed. He kept from shouting at them, though, and approached the party with all
the stealth he was capable of. And it was surprisingly efficient for a nine
feet tall kahjiit.

Gram says with a tight-lipped smile - though the greenish clouds made him
uneasy. Clouds like that meant bad weather, really bad weather, and up in these

"To the ruins then!" he says, forging ahead toward the ruins.

Kratos left the castle gates after being told the Duchess was
out of town at the moment.
He wandered around the city for a while, noticing the ruins of the Drunken Guar
with grief. The first place he had met his friends reduced to a pile of rubble.
The golden warrior wondered what happened to Isidor and Kethiah's own tavern
and was relieved to see it still stood.
He entered the Nymph and Noggin hoping to find a familiar face to say hello to.

Shaka picked up the pace, his taloned feet wrapped in cloths to
take some of the edge off the cold. He barely noticed P'Rassha's arrival,
intent on reaching the dwemer ruins.
I heard someone say that part of the ruins has been known to the locals for
generations, though part of it is still locked, he thought grimly.
Once inside, they would be too warm if anything; the non-Argonians in
particular. The dwemer had seemed to run their complexes off the heat from the
earth. . . .

3rd Rains Hand
Today we made camp in one of the antichambers of the main room. Azerel had to
dispatch a Steam Centurian as we entered. Studing the glyphs, on the pipes it
mentions something about a wormgod. Tomorrow we search for a key deeper into
the Ruins
4th Rains Hand
In the second antichamber room, we found a usable room, possibly a dwemer
living quarters. In which, we found a mechanical looking key. Testing it into
the main door, we found it opened. We worked our way deeper into the ruins
5th Rains Hand
We have reached a point where we can go no further. There is a room with
several wheels on the pipes, possibly a Dwemer power generator? If so I would
like to study this some more
6th Rains Hand
Julie made flapjacks today, delicious. Nothing else to report
7th Rains Hand
Today we managed to decypher the puzzle of the power room! By turning the
correct wheels on the pipes, it opened a chamber to a new room. Exploring it
deeper, we discovered a long corridor of inactive dwemer robots. It was getting
late so we headed back locking the door behind us
(this is where the diary ends)

Anya nodded, she had several shck enchanted throwing stars readied, and had her
bow in place incase she needed more punching power. She fought the reaction to
extend her claws, and waited for Nalion to open the door, "Ready when you
are, dear."

Nalion
took the key and nodded.
"We should probably have a look, lest we end up like those
skeletons.", he said, motioning to Gram and Reichi "I'll open the
door, please be wary. I hope that there are no centurions waiting right behind
the door. Reichi, Gram, I'd be glad to have your assistance there. Llana, you
seem to perform well with a bow. Will you give us cover? Anya, you ready?"
As Nalion opened the door, a wide corridor, sloping downwards could be seen. A
junction was at the end, where the paths split left and right. Llana, her bow
out, and glass arrows ready, slowly walked down the passageway... 'No ghosts or
steam thinggies yet... perhaps we're lucky...'
But she had spoket too soon, as three dwemer specters swept down the corridor
right for our heroes. Llana let off one of her arrows almost by reflex,
damaging one of the specters, and retreated back behind the people with
swords...

Gram already had Trueturner out, and had moved to the front of the party; now,
as the specters appear, he backs up a step and turns, planting himself to
receive the charge.
"HAAAA!!" he yells, Frostkiss lashing out at the nearest ghost.
"You're not so tough without your armor, are you! Take this!"

Nalion reacted as soon as he spotted the spectres. He stretched out his hand
towards the Wraith Llana already attacked, pointed with his fingers and mumbled
a spell.
Lightning flickered over his hand, formed a sizzling blast of energy...
Then, the spell sputtered and vanished.
The mage cursed audibly. "That spell worked this morning!"

Reichi pulled out Bloodfang, and with it and the Dagger of
Senses drawn, he charged at the ghosts. Once in range, Reichi swung at the one
Llana had damaged, intending to finish it off before turning to the uninjured
ghosts.
"My ancestors killed your kind before, S'wit. History's about to repeat

Llana pulled an arrow from her quiver, and fired it at an unharmed specter. As
the arrow flied through the air, and made contact, the entire area was engulfed
in a lightning surge, killing the target, and injuring the other specters

Anya had already loosed her throwing stars on the specters,
their enchantments sparking brightly. She backpeddled quickly, and grabbed
several more enchanted stars. In quick succesion, she let them loose on the
remaining to specters.

"Huh; that was quick," Gram says, sounding slightly
disappointed; between the throwing stars and the arrow, the specter he was
about to chop into again disolved into ectoplasm, as did the others.
" ... I say we go explore the direction these ghosts came from; they might
have been trying to protect something interesting," he suggests.

with the two skeletons, there was a Spectre, too."
Nalion looked worried, especially after his spell had failed, and so he gripped

The group followed the aisle towards the left. The hallway went steadily
downward deeper into the ruin and made a bend always to the left.
"If I am not mistaken, we shold now be under the entrance room. This aisle
has led us down in a half-circle.", Nalion said. As they turned around a

Dozens of pipes led to many dwemer devices, wheels were turning and spinning,
metal clacked on metal. It was apparent that this must be what the book had
described as power generator room.

His eyes scan the room for hidden dangers as he asks, privately wondering how
the Dwemer endured all this racket.

Kratos raised an eyebrow at the meal Bob had placed before him, it was odd that

Bob frowned deeply, "Master Isidor has had a scare recently. The hardships

He made way back to the docks to help unload and get his free men situated in

The boxes of food and clothing were immediately given to the Duchess' men after

Shaka slung the Spear of Bitter Mercy on his back and fanned out with the
others to examine the wheels. As ever, he was struck by how alien Dwemer design
and philosophy were. Sometimes it was hard to believe that they had been one of
the mer races, when they were almost the only people to have embraced
technology - - a word that didn't even exist in several of Tamriel's languages.
It's as if they deliberately built puzzles for their own people, he
mused, and not just as a test for intruders. The Dwemer put their faith in
their arcane philosophies and their machines, rather than in the gods. Tried to
become gods, with predictable results. . .
Incredible that no matter where one found Dwemer ruins, the machinery within
almost always continued to function for millennia after their builders'
destruction. It was almost as if the machines were alive; self-repairing to a
degree, though not very sentient.
