Hello,
and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and
socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
PLEASE READ THE
FOLLOWING, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NEW!!!
===
Newcomers, we ask you to
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855
before starting up; everyone will be happier for it. Also,
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737 as soon as possible;
this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.
To help you get up to speed, here is
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html. This summary doesn't cover
everything but it sums up some of the bigger events our campaign has covered.
Note: She will probably update and edit this summary as time goes on.
===
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does
not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The
events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can
be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of
disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character
at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are
NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT
FIRST. Let me be very clear about
what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are
encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for
some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is
not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there
for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP
You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!
===
IMPORTANT: WE HAVE
JUMPED SIX MONTHS INTO THE FUTURE; IT IS NOW SUN'S HEIGHT IN THE RP (i.e.,
July)

Summary for Loranna: Loranna is in Firsthold, attending the ball being held in
the Royal Library. She is, currently, enjoying a dance with her husband Slyvos
and being faintly bemused by the actions of the rich and vapid - and noting she
tends to fall into the same flowery turns of phrase when in their presence. [1]
“Did you get whatever it was figured out between yourselves then?” Telera asked as Anya come back to the booth leading Kiseena. [2]
Summary for Kiseena
Kiseena had gone back to the Nymph and Noggin after the fight in the farmland
around Ald Raathim. There she met Anya again, and the two talked of a new
mission Anya had been given, to keep an eye on someone.
Kiseena had also met one of Anya's friends, Telara, though shhe isn't sure what
kind of friend she is yet. She had finally seen Anya's secret, but didn't fully
understand.
---
"Kiseena is still not entirely sure what Anya's secret is," the
khajiit admitted as she sat by Anya once again, having been dragged back into
the Nymph and Noggin. "Kiseena apologizes for that."
She was glad Anya hadn't seen her take a drink from her hidden skooma necklace,
or that her breath didn't yet carry its scent enough to detect. [3]
Summary
Nalion is in Firsthold, having met a friendly young Altmeri noble who was able
to obtain him an invitation to the Royal Library Ball. Aside from making
acquaintances with some nobles and the master of the library Heliothrax, Nalion
also found a way to access the library. There, after a run through a maze of
books and scrolls which included dodging whole bookshelves, he met with the
young Altmeri girl Venevria, the niece of Ria Silmane. In exchange for him
letting her escape and try to make for Ald Raathim, she showed him the book
about the Old Ways that he had sought. [4]

Anya looked at Kiseena for a moment, then spoke quietly, "I'm a vampire,
Kiseena. I was turned just over a week ago." [13]

[15] "I believe we did, love."
Anya looked at Kiseena for a moment, then spoke quietly, "I'm a vampire,
Kiseena. I was turned just over a week ago."
[17]
Kiseena gasped. "No!" she exclaimed in half-whisper. "That
cannot be. Kiseena has heard such horrible things about those who fear the sun.
Friend Anya is nothing like those tales, Anya... is too sweet to Kiseena."
She squirmed there, her tail swishing behind her in confusion. One of her paws
reflexively held the bottle hidden inside her robe. [18]
Summary
Kethiah, ex-assassin, co-proprietor of the Nymph and Noggin tavern with
her husband Isidor, the Duchess of Ald Raathim’s excise and import/export agent
(and secretly her Spymaster) is in Ald Raathim, tending to business. She is 8
months pregnant, and feels it.
His Serenity The Baron-Praetor of Bellias, Viscount Limnil, Lord Faormier
(Ellec to his friends), a title-rich but cash-poor Altmer noble out to find
a rich wife this social season, is at the Library Ball in Firsthold. He secured
the first dance with the stunning Lady Venevria, and has been content to dance
with other Altmer noblewomen of lesser wealth ever since. He is sharing a room
at the Honor Guard tavern with Nalion.
Lady Venevria Estacirce has made the debut her wealthy parents would
have hoped for, taking everyone’s breath away in her gorgeous (albeit painful
to wear) gown, complete with a face-covering wimple and a gravity-defying train
of star-like crystals. She continues to waltz with suitor after suitor.
The real Lady Venevria Estacirce, who prefers to be called Ria after her
namesake and aunt the legendary sorceress Ria Silmane, has run away after
hiding in the library stacks, where she met Nalion and helped him find an
ancient book. She is trying to get to Artaeum to become a Psijic. The person
imitating her upstairs, unbeknownst to all but Nalion, is her twin brother Lord
Thios.
And there is another in this convoluted tale we are yet to meet ...

[23]
Anya frowned, muttering "If only you knew, Kiseena."
Anya grabbed Kiseena's hands, thinking back to those hours when she relished
the blood-hunger, "Most of those tales are true, Kiseena, but you have
Loranna, and Arynel, and the rest of my companions to thank for that not
happening to me. Still..." [24]

"Still nothing," Kiseena mews, hugging Anya, clinging to her like a
kitten. "Friend Anya is not like those stories. Kiseena will write a new
story if Kiseena has to."
Likely Anya could feel the bottle between their bodies as she hugged her, and
her breath was a bit stronger now. [29]
The Library Ball,
Firsthold
As the orchestra drew to the end of a song, one of the guards who had been
watching the festivities stepped forward, lowering his white hood. A buzz went
through the crowd. The orchestra, also startled, struck a series of false
chords, and then ended the song.
The Altmer had a handsome, noble face with a serious aspect. He approached
Loranna and Slyvos.
"Might I ask for a dance?" he said. "My name is Aedrin. I
believe you knew my cousin."
Crown Prince Aedrin, of course, the heir to the throne of Firsthold, and
Goranthir's cousin.[30]

Ut-oh, Loranna thinks, as she smiles an curtesies to the handsome Altmer

"Your Highness, it would be an honor," she says, holding out her hand
to Aedrin, instinctively looking for traces of Goranthir in the noble Altmer's

[39]
There was precious little similarity between the two. Goranthir, having a
Dunmer mother, had dark skin, and Aedrin was fully Altmer. Goranthir's good
look had been almost pretty, while Aedrin with strong chin and broad nose was
far more rugged. Then, she saw the Reman link between the two: the red-gold
hair. Goranthir had kept his shoulder-length until he went undercover in
Vvardenfell when he shaved it. Aedrin too was very short, but the hue was
definitely the same.
Aedrin's personality too was not at all like his cousin's. He was not
flirtatious or light-hearted or witty. He did not dance particularly well
either, though he clearly knew the steps.
He came to the point as they began the dance. "What are you doing here,
Lady Loranna?" [40]

[44]
Loranna knew enough to know not to draw attention to Aedrin's lack of ease with
dancing, adapting to his movements so that the two of them looked more natural
together. For a few seconds, her eyes linger on the Crown Prince's hair, as she
thinks longingly of Goranthir's own locks and wishes she knew where her friend
was.
Aedrin probably thought she was here concerning Goranthir, or else hoped to
learn something from her about his cousin; Loranna wondered just how much she
could say, especially here in a public place. She wasn't looking to cause
trouble in Morgiah's house - especially given her own mission.
"Your Highness, I've come on behalf of the Queen's brother to speak with
her," she says quietly, as the two spin slowly on the dance floor.
"He seeks her aid in his struggle with his enemies." Which was the
simple truth, even if she and her friends had gotten slightly diverted to this
ball.[45]

"Is that true?" Aedrin asked rather gruffly, looking her in the eyes.
"What do you know of Goranthir? Is he dead?"[50]

"It's true, Your Highness," Loranna says, looking up to meet the
Altmer's gaze; the intensity of his stare drove any thought of artful dancing
around the issue about Goranthir from Loranna's mind, though she chose her next
words with an eye for cautious optimism.
"Not dead; rather, possessed," she says, keeping her voice down.
"Something happened on Vvardenfell to him and since then he has been

to us."[55]

Prince Aedrin pulled a piece of paper out from his robes and handed it to

Loranna is unable to speak, just staring at the phamplet she had seen so many
months ago and praying she didn't just torpedo her mission here and thus damn
Helseth's cause - and Ald Raathim - to failure, all because of her own
misguided honesty.
Her jaw clenches, words she wants to say refusing to come out - because as far
as she was concerned, Morgiah was a monster, but she had put her
thoughts on the Queen aisde when she accepted this task from Dinara, knowing it
was important and she couldn't let her Queen and her friend down. But now ...
" ... Yes," she whispers, looking into Aedrin's eyes with sorrow,
wishing she had a better brain in her head.[65]

"Don't let it worry you," Lord Faormier said to her as she rushed
past. He was tipsy, as was the young heiress he was dancing with. "The
Prince is an odd bird. Everyone knows that."
The heiress giggled.
The odd bird himself was stomping through the dark parkland towards the kitchen
entrance to the royal palace.

Loranna doesn't answer Lord Faormier or the young heiress he was currently
wooing. She was too busy running up the staircase and hurrying through the
parkland, detemrined not to let the Prince out of her sight. A small entreaty
to Dibella blessed her legs with additional speed, aiding her.
"Your Highness!" she hisses as she runs, briefly entertaining the
thought of doing what Allie did to her way back when during Lord Darius's ball.
But she was both pregnant and smaller than the Crown Prince, so tackling him
and sitting on him until he relented was not really an option, as tempting as
it fleetingly was. [85]

Loranna catches up to Aedrin, and finds herself without words for a moment.
Truth be told, she wasn't even sure what she was planning to do; she just
didn't want to see the Crown Prince do something that would explode in his
face. The dreamlike quality of the park was making it even harder for her to
think rationally.
The emotion in the Prince's voice strikes Loranna, and she feel herself
starting to cry; in the otherworldly atmosphere of the park, her tearstreaks
stand out even more, seeming to shine in the pale light.
Trembling, feeling herself trapped in a waking dream, she holds out her hands
to the Prince, to show him she shared his pain, to comfort him in his grief, to
shield him from what might try to hurt him here. Wrong or right, that was what
she was to do, here and now.[95]

"Goranthir and I never got along," he said quietly, taking her hands

ground. "Why does this all feel like a dream? Why would this part of
Firsthold have such an atmosphere anyway?"
A sinking feeling comes to Loranna's stomach, not unlike the feeling she gets

A small group of curious party-goers who have evidently followed Loranna and
the Prince outside, hoping to witness a scandalous brawl, stand disappointed in
the torchlight at the end of the park. From what they had seen, the argument --
whatever it was about -- between the Nordic Duchess of Morrowind ("They're
letting Nords in Morrowind now? When did that happen?") and the odd duck
Crown Prince had ended with a hug. How frightfully tiresome.

[124]
Loranna turns her tearstreaked, smouldering eyes upon the hapless partygoers.
Seeing the disappointed looks on their faces, and catching wind of some of
their muttered comments, she feels a brief surge of comtempt.
"My apologies," she says as she walks by them, not bothering to
explain what she's apologizing for; she rubs the tears out of her eyes an walks
slowly back to the ball.
Facing Morgiah was going to be that much harder now, with the issue of
Goranthir brought back, raw and bloody, to the forefront of her mind. And being
pregnant she didn't dare try to get drunk to take the edge off the pain.
The night had lost much of its luster; pleading a need to get her sleep for the
baby's sake, Loranna retires for the night, hoping to find solace in Slyvos's
arms. [125]

Loranna woke to sunlight streaming through the curtains of the large room in
the finest tavern in the city. It was not a room one that was usually rented
out, but when the tavernkeeper understood who Loranna was and that she had
business with the Queen herself, he gave her his room and went to stay with relatives.
It was hard to remember the unpleasantness at the end of the ball on such a
glorious morning, as Loranna looked out over the grand plaza of Firsthold. It
was truly a breathtaking city. The smell of flowers wafted from the park, with
exotic birdcalls ...
It was at that instant Loranna understood the piece that was missing last
night. It was not a sight or a smell or a feeling. It was sound, or rather,
lack of sound.
The entire time she had been in Firsthold, she had almost unconsciously noted
the birdcalls, so different from the animal noises out east.
Last night, in the parkland, surrounded by trees, there had been no bird or
animal sounds of any kind.[130]

Loranna slaps herself on the leg, groaning "The birds ... note to self;
learn to pay attention to everything when things feel funny, from now on."
Slyvos still seemed to be asleep; not wanting to disturb him yet, but feeling a
need to get something in her belly - and a nice glass of wine - Loranna dresses

As Loranna went down the stairs, she could hear bells tolling.
Downstairs, everyone at the tavern who was awake at that early hour was
gathered around to talk about the news. Prince Aedrin, the heir to the throne

The people in the room nodded solemnly at Loranna's description of Aedrin,
though the truth was, no one there -- despite their relative wealth and social
position, as guests of one of the finest taverns in Firsthold during the height
of Cotillion Week -- knew Aedrin at all. None of them had so much as spoken to
him. He was a strange peripheral character, considering he was heir to the

The conversation continued as breakfast was served in the tavern.

Shaka sat at a corner table. There had been an amusing moment when the server
had wondered whether he needed to provide live food for him, but Shaka assured
him that he had eaten like men and mer for so many years that it wouldn't be
necessary.
He had seen Loranna depart with Aedrin during the ball, and her distraught
return. The simplest explanation was that it had something to do with Morgiah's
son, Goranthir. Shaka had felt from the beginning of their diplomatic mission
that Goran's loss would come up at some point, but he didn't like being proven
right.
Morgiah, he mused to himself. Shaka had never visited Firsthold before, but
rumor had it that the queen was every bit as calculating as Helseth, perhaps
more so. And as beautiful as she was cunning. But Loranna had no choice other
than to seek her help, if Helseth and Daruhn were to survive.
Reeds had been a bold one last night, he thought with a smile; luckily he
seemed to have found a down-to-earth woman among the Altmer to dance with. His
fellow Argonian seemed one of those who was at his best under pressure, not
worst.
When the time was right, Shaka would ask Loranna what had happened with Aedrin.
Hopefully Nalion would appear for breakfast, or at least sometime during their
mission, and fill them in as well. For now, Shaka drank some sort of Altmer hot
drink -- a memorable one too, as the ebonille had been.
He knew nothing of the late Aedrin, but Shaka felt a little diminished at
hearing of his murder. Everyone's death mattered. Shaka also was concerned for
Loranna.[185]
The pain reels through his stomach, and he grips at his abdomen harder, it blurs his vision, then makes it double, he knows soon he will pass out, a smile creeps across his face in spite, for he had taken care of his enemy. [186]

"White it is, then," Loranna muttered as she finished the last of her
breakfast, having eaten slowly. The knowlegable Altmer's explanation brought a
very brief smile to her lips; the Altmer were loathe to give up their
traditions for anything.
She was calmer now, not as distraught as she had been; she had had time to
reflect on the previous night's episode and the tragedy of Ardien's death. She
intuited that no one else in the tavern really knew Ardien; it struck her that
very few people had known the Crown Prince at all. She, who had danced one half
of a dance with the young mer and held him while he cried, might know him
better than the rest of Firsthold; it was a sobering thought.
There was also the question of whether the guards would come for her
eventually, as she was one of the last people seen with the Crown Prince; then
again, if Ardien's death was indeed to silence his knowledge of Morgiah's deal
with Mannimarco, then if the guards did come, it could well mean her own death.
... and she still needed to face Morgiah, throughout all this. Loranna's lips
tightene into a frown as she went back up to find her companions and tell them
that she would be attending the memorial service for the fallen Prince.

nearly half-an-hour had passed, before Hides-in-Bush was ready to go about.
"Great. Remember where we put the supplies? We gonna go get them at
once..." Dyna says, a twinkle in her eye. They had a simple plan, taking
fifteen of the civilian volunteers forth from the city...and stir those outside
the city to action this very night when it falls. "Also, gather fifteen
volunteers from the civilian and sailor corp, I want none of our men, if this
goes bad I want none of his most loyal's blood on my hands. Keep this from
Markir though...he'll likely try to prevent this."
With those words, Dyna left the room to return downstairs to sit alone and
think on the coming night. [271]

[273] Anya inwardly smiled, but adopted an innocent face, "As I've said, sir, I merely need to present a thesis to my Mentor in which Archmagister Zadion has a unique view to. Perhaps you could inform me of Master Zadion, anything not pertaining to the duties usually associated with one of his titles. His comings and goings, or his work in his office, and such."
[275]
"He's usually been here, in the Guild, up until just after the attempted
invasion," the Guild guide shrugged. "But after that, he's spent a
lot of time in Tel Dresori. Can't imagine why. There's a Guild there, but it's
kinda a wasteland now, you know?"

[278] ... and she still needed to face Morgiah, throughout all this. Loranna's lips tightene into a frown as she went back up to find her companions and tell them that she would be attending the memorial service for the fallen Prince.
[280]
"Thanks, Your Grace," said Shaka. "I was thinking . . . People
have been saying he was found in a locked room, and someone must have levitated
to the room. I wonder if there are other possibilities."
"Did anyone figure out what kind of weapon killed him? If it didn't happen
to be levitation, it could have been a flying creature . . . No, it wouldn't
have been a Winged Twilight or similar summons, I guess."

Anya paused to think for a moment. It was doubtful the Guild Guide knew much
more than he's told, but there was always the chance she could learn more. She
could leave for Tel Dresori, and look for Zadion to see what he's been doing.
Or she could simply snoop about his quarters or office. It might be best if she
waited for Kiseena to leave though. Might as well see what papers or items she
could find.
Her golden face smiled, "Thank you for your time. I was wondering if you
might show me where his office is, so that I might be able to see him upon his

"Loranna, Geht controls animals of all environments. He could send them to

"Hmm...a lone hawk or two could easily trounce a person in the dark," Erenius comments off-handedly, thinking more on what Shaka had said. [297]
Vaan's Summary:
Vaan has had a (mostly) enjoyable night in Firsthold, having found a beautiful
Altmer lady to dance with. And he has found "Ebonille" to be a
wonderful drink, now replacing Flin as the love of his life.
In the wake of the terrible news about Aedrin, Vaan has much to say:
"Not wise, really not wise."
He now stands in his room, at the The Lady's Kiss Tavern peeking out of
the window. [298]

Shaka could see the wheels turning behind Loranna's eyes, but said only:

"We're NOT bringing this matter up unless we can't avoid it," Loranna
says, her voice dropping about twenty degrees.
More calmly, she continues "I haven't heard from Nalion yet this morning;

"Understood, Your Grace," nodded Shaka. "And also . . . Thanks

have been an amazing sight. But it's still amazing, even so."[323]
"Aedrin can

Vaan unfolded his arms, and got up from leaning on the wall.
"I understand that the matter must be close to you all, but the danger
sounds horrific. Would it not be best to shy away from such a matter, lest you
incur a wrath of unstoppable proportions?"
Vaan shrugged, and walked over to the table. "Please forgive my shallow
act, it's the blood. Good morning everybody." He gave a weak smile to them
all, already wishing he had not spoken at all. [324]
"Aye. 'Tis a real
wonder I had not chosen to come to this city on my own will a time ago. Really
is," Erenius says, something on his mind yet choosing to say nothing of it
for the time being, knowing that another, better time, would present itself to
speak on that topic.
Erenius turns to Vaanic.
"To shirk from danger is to give into it. By giving in we shall accomplish
nothing and our presence here in Firsthold will be wasted," Erenius flatly
says to the newcomer. [325]

Loranna looks over at Vaan, wondering just how to reply to his last sentence.
She decides after a few seconds to simply not bother. "Good morning
Vaan," she says, idly playing with one of her braids. "As for the
poor Crown Prince, I'm still going to his memorial today; what I do after that
regarding his death, I haven't really decided. I still have a mission here to
complete and there are doubtless people working on solving the murder
already."

"Wasted? We came here to ask for assistance in the war, and if we achieve
that, then the sacrifice will not be in vain, although great." Replied
Vaan.
"Loranna says we shall not bring up the matter....but this is Morgiah we
are dealing with, maybe not getting involved at all is the only way that we can
assure that those reinforcements will come, and stay with us."
Vaan shook his head. "That's just my view, of course. I was born with the

Erenius. "Telvanni blood, cold and nasty."[335]

"I'll keep an ear open, doubtless we'll hear something."
He watches Loranna idly playing with her hair, and it reminds him. "Would
short spiky hair suit me?" He asks, utterly out of the blue. [339]
Erenius gives a slight
chuckle, saying: "Good and loyal citizens to a fault, each and every one

"But I do see your point. However, I'm certain of a way to keep the
soldiers given to us...alls we need is her men," Erenius says, hoping that
if the Queen sends the men to Ald Raathim, she uses a boat, and not a Guild
Guide. [340]

hands. "We're simply going to petition the Queen for her aid on behalf of

He looks somewhat dissapointed at Loranna's admission. "Pity, I was depending

"That might be a good idea, though I suspect most places will be closed
for the service," Loranna says. "Right now might be the better time
to go sightseeing, or else simply wait till tomorrow."[356]
"Very well then,
yet we have come to a time and place where it seems one must expect the
unexpected. Remember, this is essentially a battle of wills. And in all fights,
whether political or military...those with blades of steel or blades of mind, expect
only that which happens in the fight. That way, you can never be suprised,"
Erenius replies, knowing that giving advice at this point, however far or near
the time of the meeting may be, additional words of readiness would do little.
Erenius turns towards Vaanic, and looks him over, saying aloud: "Spiked
hair to the sky, maybe not so much...howevever, spiking it to the back might be
best. Seems more fitting and less...crazy."
Erenius thinks on that word, crazy. Was that what he was, crazy for
still following Loranna, knowing that no matter what he did, no amount of his
actions would prevent ill from coming forth? Or was he here, instead, not to
prevent, but instead to help in cleaning whatever mess that tide of events yet
to come might bring?on that, Erenius seems slightly detached, ponderring that
idea. [357]

He praised his nephew as an ideal heir, who was serious abot his duties to the

[378]
Clad in a simple but well-wrought white robe, Loranna's ashen face stood out
among the mourners, and her silver tearstreaks stood out on her face. She had
come to the memorial composed, but as the service went on she began to cry
again, her tears making her tearstreaks glisten in the shade.
The voices of the Altmer singing moved her, even if she did not recognize the
words; she could feel the intent of the words' meaning through their meter and
rhythem, and the haunting tune was like nothing Loranna had ever heard before.
The King's words moved her even more, bringing back memories of the crying,
distraught mer last night whose only thought was to do what was right, not even
thinking of the danger to himself - a mer who had never been told the truth by
anyone until the night of his death, and who had never been seen for who he
really was by anyone around him - only by a stranger.
Good bye, Aedrin; may you find peace and warmth in the Spheres, Loranna
thinks. I will remember our night together - even if it was an illusion, I will
cherish the parts that were real.
She bows her head, her eyes resting on her swollen belly, and she closes her
eyes, placing a hand over her womb. ... Aedrin ... [379]

After the service, much of the crowd drifted away, while others went forward to

tonight, but people were wondering whether it was still going to be held or
not. Opinions were divided as to whether that was appropriate, but most seemed
to think she should have her party, if she still wished it.

"They're magically locked ... And the spell's too powerful for me

[388]
Anya bowed, and sat down in a nearby chair, appearing to merely wait for the
Archmagister, "Again, I thank you for your time. I do believe there will
be someone up in the front of the Guildhouse."
Anya waited until the Guild Guide was well out of sight before she studied the
lock. It was powerful, as he said, but Anya didn't expect anything less from a
man of Zadion's position.
Anya furrowed her brow. She placed her hand on the lock, and cast Open. She
heard a click, and thought she opened the door, until she heard another as the
tumblers relocked back in place. Mumbling angrily, she called upon the most
powerful Open she knew. It would effectively drain her, since it was only in
the last year she actively studied magic, on her magicka wasn't as large as
someone such as Loranna. Anya smiled in elation as she heard tumblers lock
open.
She pushed the door open, casting Lock behind her. She dropped her disguise and
sighed in relief. Holding the Altmer mask was taxing, especially with the added
burden of ensuring she could Charm an experienced mage. Anya was thankfull she
had an innate Night Eye ability granted to her some time ago, it let her see
the room with clarity.
Anya scanned the room, and began searching papers, items, anything that would
prove to be suspicious, "Now if I were incriminating documents, where
would I be?"[389]

Erenius stood nearby,
a white shirt and pants, shoes of a silvery-tone, he wore also a vest, a vest
of lightest of grey, almost white with the slightest hint of black to it,
preceptible only to those who studied it long enough.
As he listened to the chants, psalms and speeches dedicated to the Prince,
Erenius could easily feel the sadness in the air. Try as he might to withstand
it to keep his duty first in his mind, soon the grief and solemnity of the
situation overtook him and he to felt great sadness. Even though he knew not
Ardien, the gravity of the words, few of which he understood, made Erenius feel
as if a part of his own soul and body was taken from him and cast into some
dark pit, never to return again. From that feeling a lone tear streaked down
the side of his face, the only tear which had the honor in the longest time.
'I have shed not a tear in some time,' Erenius thinks to himself. 'It
may be but a single tear, but how could I possibly feel such grief for one I
didnt even realize existed till this past night when he was found dead? I shed
last when I took my parting all that time ago...'
He lets out a sigh and removes a simple kerchief from his vest to remove that

The services over at last, or so it seems, Erenius almost immediately returns

Shaka, watching the ceremony.
"So," he asked, as they walked away from the crowd, "what do you
think about this? Rather fishy, isn't it? What rips a man apart?"
[414]
"Beautiful, those hymns," said Shaka absentmindedly. "I forget
sometimes just how ancient the mer are. And their schisms too; the Chimer, Dunmer
and all."
"Isidor, you probably heard my speculations. A few others and I met the
mer who has the capability for it, commanding animals, if birds they were. We
have the method and opportunity. What I'm not sure about is motive. And who the
puppetmaster is."
"We need to lay aside our reasoning until we know more. Our brief is to
talk to Morgiah and get her backing. What the price of her support would be is
another matter, but I'm sure it will be substantial."
He smiled wryly at Isidor. "You ever find yourself missing the peace and
quiet of your Dagon Fel exile? But then I guess being in life's Arena is
better, at that. . . ."[415]

of Loranna's company of adventurers is that we step up and do what needs to be
done. I didn't know Aedrin, but this feels like another one of those times. If
not us, then who?"
"But we have to be careful for now, diplomatic as you were with Helseth.
That reminds me, the three of you did well in Mournhold, from what I hear. You
spoke to power in a straightforward manner, no cringing or excuses. Helseth's
never been the type to appreciate flattery anyway."
"Now think of his sister Morgiah as another Helseth, and double it.
Loranna and all of us are going to have to be on our toes."
"It's funny how deep we've all gotten into the Empire. Barenziah was the
key of course, gaining Lor's fealty in exchange for Helseth's backing. On the

"By the gods, that's all we need, the Empire cutting a deal with the rebel

"I can picture the Empire arranging to leave the rebels alone, in exchange

Shaka changed the subject. "Iz, do you think Telera will ever show up

Anyway, it will be hard to explain Anya to her, but I want to try. Anya's

P'Rassha quickly catched up with Loranna and gently put his paw on her forearm.
"What is wrong, Lady Loranna? P'Rassha doesn't like to see you troubled.
In fact, P'Rassha doesn't like trouble when it occurs to someone else. Is there

Raised glasses and nodding heads confuse him for a moment, for he has never had

If the large cavernous office had a system of organization, it was a mysterious

were in languages Anya had never seen, and others were sealed with wax.

Anya huffed in fustration. This man needed to work at maintaining his office.
She was indignant that he would make this so hard for her. She also wasn't above
pocketing the odd jewel or item. The Guild Guide would be enough in a haze that
he couldn't accurately describe her, or be able to fully place her actions. And
if they did happen to place her, Zadion would be looking for a barely maturing
Altmer girl, not a full grown Bosmer woman.
Anya didn't expect there to be any glaring mistakes on his part, but he was
only mortal, and bound to make a mistake somewhere. Anya crouched near the
embers, picking up any pieces of parchment left, looking to make out any words

Loranna had bathed and changed into her formal dress, mentally reviewing
everything she had picked up about Firsthold's courtly etiquette. She also
tried to prepare herself for the worst...
While she was getting dressed, she finally shared the events of the previous
night with Slyvos, confiding in him that she feared the Queen might have been

they had come too far to back out now, and it was possible she was wrong

He was sitting against the wall in the hallway Loranna was going down, sifting

Erenius was ready,

Loranna could not help but think during the short walk through the parkland to
the front gates of the royal palace how much different it was with birdcalls
again. The creatures were everywhere, particularly the crickbeaks, beautiful
dark gray birds, nearly three feet high.
The lower levels of the palace was where courtiers met, and was all crystal of
various degrees of opacity. Some steps were nearly invisible, so emissaries
were forever tripping over them (a little test to see how well you knew your
way around the Palace), and some were almost solid white, showing only the
merest dark shadow of movement. It made the whole place feel like walking
through the clouds.
The group was ushered in through these lower salons to a meeting room which
might have been pulled out of High Rock. A stone fireplace, a heavy oak table,
half-timbered walls … It was more Breton than Altmer … But, of course, the
Queen of Firsthold was neither, but a Dunmer who grew up in Wayrest.

Walking through the parkway left Loranna feeling like she had stumbled back
into a dream - a dream where you know you've dreamt this before but
things are still different, almost intentionally defying your dream-memory of
what should be. She was rapidly becoming convinced that Firsthold was not built
like mortal cities, but rather was a great dream the ages-ago Aldmer caught
somehow and bound to Nirn; the palace's cloulike nature did little to disuade
her notions.
The meeting room, then, came as something of a shock, feeling like a blot of
reality in the dream she'djust been walking through. Though, she had to admit,
Morgiah's tastes were fine, if a bit Wayrestian.
Thanking the footman, Loranna turns to her companions and says "Pretty

the palace's cloulike nature did little to disuade her notions.
The meeting room, then, came as something of a shock, feeling like a blot of
reality in the dream she'djust been walking through. Though, she had to
admit, Morgiah's tastes were fine, if a bit Wayrestian.
Thanking the footman, Loranna turns to her companions and says "Pretty
amazing, isn't it all?" She reaches out to tocuh Slyvos's hand
briefly.
[559]
Vaan nodded.
"I could remain here peacefully until the End Of Times." He said
calmly.
His hood was up, and his face showed little emotion. He was clearly playing the
part of "strange-religious-man". It was probably a ploy to ensure his
safety, if one was enigmatic, then one could avoid identification, and thus
prevent being hunted down in the event of something going seriously wrong.
His Ebony walking stick remained in his right hand. [560]
Slyvos looks at
Loranna, giving her a small smile, which was about all he could muster with the
upcoming meeting. He was well aware of what the queen had done, and was not
keen on meeting such a wretch.
"yes, it is rather amazing..." he said as his thoughts switched their
focus to the surroundings. "and to think, I had never seen this place
before..." [561]

[563] "It is, Your Grace," said Shaka, admiring the craftsmanship of the table. "I wonder . . . . Maybe she's trying to put us at ease. The design of this room isn't that different from Ald Raathim."
[565]
"That should be no surprise, my clan in Morrowind was the Ra'athim,"
said Queen Morgiah, stepping into the room.
She was still dressed for mourning, in a simple black gown, but she had pulled
back the veil so it cascaded, together with her ink black hair, down her back.
She was sublimely beautiful, the image of her mother Barenziah at her age. Her
cheekbones and chin resembled her brother Helseth's, features that she had
inherited from her late father Symmachus.
Morgiah glided into the room, asking to be introduced to each person present.
When she had met everyone, she took a seat at the table, and motioned for
everyone to do the same.

"He speaks!" Kethiah laughed, and then groaned a moment, holding her
belly. She looked a little faint, but recovered. "Remind me not to
laugh anymore until this thing's out of me. He doesn't like it. But
that's good news twice, Ingmar. You're speaking, and free
mercenaries."
[570]
Ingmar smiled. "I didn't speak, because I didn't know what to say.
Especially after how I left things last time ... " He shook his head.
"In any case, I can have the mercenaries here next week. Just a note, keep
an eye on them in the Noggin; they're hard drinkers ..." [571]

"I'll keep that in mind, but ... This business is leaking money faster

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total
obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through
me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where
the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain..." Erenius
mutters softly to himself. While he was not necessarily trying to ward off
fear, he was trying to steel himself for what would almost certainly be a
heated argument, one which few would know how it might end.
As Morgiah came about, Erenius gave merely a curt nod, and no words. As she
motioned for a seat, Erenius reluctantly took one, knowing that he would rather
stand, yet knew that disregarding the Queen's request so early might lead to a
very quick and disasterous conclusion to this meeting. [577]

you'd be a finer ally than enemy," Morgiah said. "But we can talk

checked to see what manner of weapon caused them? A professional assassin would
have been far more restrained in the number of blows struck. And one or more
maniacs, amateurs, who levitated into his room to kill him seems even more
far-fetched."
"Perhaps the wounds were so numerous because they were made by other than
knife or sword. Creatures' claws or bills. Could there be a connection between
the absence of the birds and Aedrin's death? And forgive me, Duchess, for
adding my speculations."[732]
Upon reaching the gates to the palace, Ingmar stopped at the guard. "Hi there," he said, nervously, "I need to tell something to a man that's in there, with the queen. Could you get him for me, or tell him a message, or something?" Worry was evident in his voice as he talked. [733]
The argonian leaves
the tavern in quite a rush now, his presence has been quite a blow to his
secrecy, any more unfortunate accidents like that and he will be re-captured,"nice job", he whispers to himself as he leaves.
He now sets his sights on Firsthold, Possibly to speak to someone for some
kind of military scouting position, under a false name of course.
(OOC) where is firsthold comparativly to Ald ....whatever the name is. [734]

Shaka had started to relax somewhat, glancing over at Loranna as if to say,
Telling the truth worked better than I had thought it would. But with the news
for Isidor, his mood immediately plunged.
Oh no, he thought. Don't the two of them deserve their happiness?[778]
Slyvos had been
listening intently, making sure to stay quiet the entirety of the time, so as
to not cause any problems unless he was needed. Of course, he smiled when all
this felt like it was going to go off rather well.
The news about Kethiah however, took the smile right off of his face in an
instant. "never a moment's rest, always a string of problems to burden this
old one and his companions..." He said, rather annoyed now that his good
mood was broken. [779]

"What the [censored] is going on?" Isidor asked, his voice barely
containing anger.
"I ... I don't know, she just fainted. The priests said it might be
serious. Just, come on."
Isidor nodded, and together they ran back to the Mages Guild, and then were

eye. He was an excellent healer, but a kindly priest he was not. "So I
cannot reprimand her for working herself near to death in the eighth month of
pregnancy, so I will reprimand you. She and the baby are fine, but they will

Shaka looked over at
Slyvos after Isidor had left. "I hope she'll be all right. Maybe the child
could be born at eight months and still survive?"
As Morgiah couldn't hear them now, Shaka added: "That went a lot easier
than I expected, somehow. Looks like the old saying is true: the apple doesn't
fall far from the tree. Morgiah is Barenziah's daughter and Helseth's sister,

The priest brought the brothers to the room where Kethiah was sleeping. From
the look of the sheets that were being carried away, there had been a lot of
bleeding.
[821]
The argonian exchanges
his money to the transporter, and it seems instantly his existance explodes at
his destination.
He falls though, landing flat on his back, he grits his teeth as he curses his
inexperience with these magical things.
The first thing that comes to him is the simple fact that everyone standing
around him wears white robes.
He sticks out plainly as shadow against a bright light, and he freezes, knowing
that he probably just pissed somebody off. [822]

Loranna returns to the group as Shaka wonders about Morgiah, having been

"Almost too easily, if I might say so," Erenius comments, both happy
and disappointed at the way things had gone. "I wouldnt' trust Morgiah
even half as far as I could throw her. So long as she's in league with us
though, it may be good, but she's still the sister of both Elysana and Helseth,

Stre-krel hesitates,

The Royal Palace,
Firsthold
When the group left the meeting room, they found themselves in a completely
different environment than the one of ethereal salons they had seen earlier. It
was alive with workers constructing the scene for Princess Rinalla’s Cotillion
Ball, which was to happen in just a few hours.
Though it was too early to see quite yet, the concept for the Ball was simply
Nirn. The guests were to be giants treading over its surface.
Furniture had been moved out, and the floor was being flooded. A series of
temporary bridges let the workers create the artificial islands for the
orchestra (a frozen mountainous region that was Atmora), the dancers (a desert
island of Yokuda), the guests’ dance floor (a shimmering crystalline island
that was Aldmeris), the main island for refreshments and mingling (the varied
landscape of Tamriel, overscale compared to the other islands, but of
astonishing detail … one could see the Imperial City, Red Mountain, the
Wrothgarian Mountains as if one were a thousand feet tall), as well as smaller
dotted islands, big enough for small groups to gather on each, suggesting the
archipelagos of Akavir, Pyandonea, and Thras … The guests would move through
some of the islands by little bridges, and others by boat.
(OOC – I’m outta here for the night, but I thought I’d set it up, so if you
want to start the Ball without me this weekend, you can.)
