Hello,
and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and
socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
PLEASE READ THE
FOLLOWING, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NEW!!!
===
Newcomers, we ask you to
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855
before starting up; everyone will be happier for it. Also,
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737 as soon as possible;
this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.
To help you get up to speed, here is
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html. This summary doesn't cover
everything but it sums up some of the bigger events our campaign has covered.
Note: She will probably update and edit this summary as time goes on.
===
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does
not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The
events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can
be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of
disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character
at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are
NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT
FIRST. Let me be very clear about
what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are
encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for
some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is
not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there
for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP
You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

IMPORTANT: WE HAVE
JUMPED SIX MONTHS INTO THE FUTURE; IT IS NOW SUN'S HEIGHT IN THE RP (i.e.,
July)

Summary for Loranna: Loranna is in Ald Raathim, having put into motion the
rebuilding of her city. Despite the severe losses suffered by the army and the
loss of their navy, Ald Raathim survives, and thanks to the tireless efforts of
her people and her friends, the city has started on the long path to restoring
its former glory. The damaged city wall is shorn up by the very giant crabs
that broke it in the first place, a tent town has once again grown in the
center of the city to shelter the homeless and the dispossessed, and a memorial
service is planned to honor the fallen who gave their lives for Ald Raathim and
their loved ones.
As for Loranna herself, she is currently helping Nalion prepare for a trip to
Firsthold, waiting on her husband and friends who have gone to Mournhold to
confer with the King, and is quietly planning on looking into Magister Zadion's
recent comings and goings, intrigued by Nalion's mention of the Altmer's muddy
feet. Such are the times we live in that she finds herself thinking that she's
not suspiscious of the handsome magister, but it wouldn't hurt to check - just in
case[1] [2] In between these activities, Loranna
continues to help heal people and arrange for food and supplies to be brought
into Ald Raathim, using funds she stashed away during the city's prosperous
times, and she is starting to think ahead to long-term plans to help ensure the
safety of her city - though what she will do will ultimately, of course, depend
on the plans of Helseth.
[3]
Summary: Shaka, an Argonian battlemage, has been helping build the tent city and repair the walls. The battle and near-sack of Ald Raathim has hardened his attitude toward the rebelling Houses, but he's attempting to keep from becoming embittered. Shaka has also spoken with the Khajiit thief, Kiseena and the Redguard scout, Gistral. [4]
It has been a while
since I last wrote. Mainly because I have been trapped in Tel Sigrid for most
of this time. I really must get going to somewhere less cold... Anyway, today I
got a letter, from my old roommate, Selvia. Remember how she was going to
Senshal in Elsywer? Well she managed to make it there! Even moreso, she met
some people with similar intrests to her. Im glad that girl is getting out,
that Manaviro treated her so badly, what sort of Boyfriend is he? Oh, I also
heard that Indoril Faryon was holding a festival of some kind. He killed an
Argonian in the Arena... I believe one of the Spectators was Drevious. He
should really be hunting for Maranda... Talking of her, shes still in Ald
Raatham, sleeping off a hangover. Poor girl
Anyway, I believe there is a cart heading for Cheydinhel soon so I'll hitch a
ride on that, see where life takes me [5]
ooc: Isidor, male
nord, is in an inn in Mournhold, with Reeds and Slyvos.
Ingmar is helping to rebuild Ald Raathim.
Tsei is helping out, as well.
Tyradil and Tilitalia are doing something or other. [6]
OOC Summary:
Dar'Tessir, Suthay-Raht nightblade, is in the Nymph & Noggin enjoying a
drink and letting his mind wander. [7]
Reeds is in Mournhold,
not doing much while waiting for the audience with Helseth with Isidor and
Slyvos.
Valerius is helping with the reconstruction effort, most likely driving one of
the crabs. [8]
Summaries
Nalion
Nalion, a male Breton mage, suffered burns on his arms during the battle of Ald
Raathim. The mage, due to his actions in the battle, also lost his ability to
cast magic for the time being. He is recovering, but he will not be idle in the
meantime.
Since he is unable to activley help in reconstruction, he now hopes to find
some clues concerning a book that was recovered from the Sload hideout the
party had investigated some time ago. To do this, he intends to travel to the
libraries in Firsthold on Summerset Isle. The mage also noticed slight
irregularities as he talked to Zadion, the Mages Guild magister, and has talked
to Loranna about this as well as his plans to go to Summerset.
Gistral
Gistral, a male Redguard warrior, has arrived - much to his dismay - too late
for the battle, but is now helping in building a tent town with the help of his
Redguard companions and some sailors Kethiah had recruited. Gistral is in town,
organizing the tent village.
Dana
Dana, a young Redguard woman, has arrived with Gistral a day ago. She was
challenged to a song contest by P'rassha and won. While she hoped that this
songs might lift the spirits of the people of Ald Raathim, she mainly focused
on her skills in healing though, to contribute to the recovery of Ald Raathim
from the terrible battle. Dana is currently tending to the wounded in the Nymph
and Noggin. [9]
At the day's end,
Shaka recalled to the yurt and washed off in the stream. Dressed again but
still unarmored, he walked back to town.
The Nymph and Noggin had been cleaned up somewhat in the last couple of days,
and Shaka was able to get a beer. He surveyed his fellow pub-goers; morale seemed
better overall, though the crowd was more subdued after each family's and
individual's loss.
Shaka paid for a bowl of dried fish to go with the brew; he had long since paid
back the tavern for the mazte he had liberated that first day after the battle.

Summary For Vaan:
Vaan is in Ald Raathim, along with several of his Muatramer brethren. At this
moment in time, he is taking a slight break from work to repair the walls, and
has decided to teach a young Muatramer trooper about life, but more on that
later.
Summary for Necron:
Since Mournhold was attacked, Necron has been reorganising all of the Muatramer
inside the city to work on rebuilding it. He is also wondering when Vaan will
return.
Muatramer Summary
All over Morrowind, the Muatramer forces of Protection are helping the
faithful, whether it be food relief, or guarding temple priests on their ever
more precarious journeys, or comforting worried people in the aftermath of the
massive enemy offensive. The Order of Intelligence is helping to administrate
this, distributing the men where they are needed, hoping to make the temple
faithful feel more safer in these days of horror.
Soon, they are to be reorganised, A meeting will called for all the Muatramer
high ranking members. This is in order to rethink the Muatramer forces, and to
secure their future.[11]
Mournhold
Reeds, Slyvos, and Isidor find themselves at the Winged Guar, one of the larger
taverns within the Godsreach. This part of the city seems to have weathered the
assault a bit better than the areas the party has already seen; most of the
buildings are intact and the streets themselves bear but few marks of
explosions or seige weaponry. Fabricants can still be found in the streets,
though a couple of enterprising inividuals have set up a booth and are selling
parts of the broken fabricants as 'war souvenirs'. Jugding by the amount of
haggling going on, and the presence of a couple of Royal Guardsmen bearing down
the booth vendors' necks, this enterprise will be short-lived.
The Museum of Artifacts remains mostly untouched, as does the Craftsman's Hall.
The former has a large number of guards standing about, a mix of Royal Guard
and Legionaire, all of whom glower at anyone who seems to be wandering too
close to the museum, while the latter seems to be having a boom in business;
the sounds of hammers on anvils ring over the hubbub on the streets, and crates
of armor are being carried in and out regulary.
The Winged Guar itself is still open for business, though a great many people
within seem to be there to recieve healing from the severe-faced Tribunal
priests and priestesses. Barmaids walk around the wounded and the war-weary to
serve those patrons who are here just for the food and the drinks, and few
people have happy expressions, even those who look to be well-off.
A barmaid comes up to the group, giving a quick curtesy an saying "Welcome
to the Winged Guar; what can we get you, good serjos?" [12]

[16]
Reeds looked down at his heskal, still in his hands. "No drink for me
ma'am, but the three of us could do with beds." Reeds made a mental note
to return the goblet, as it looked rather valuable. [17]

[21]
"Something to eat," Isidor said, "Might be nice, as well as a
bed." [22]
Slyvos just kept quiet, his face plastered with that look people get when they seem to be not paying attention to the conversation. Of course, with him, you can't really tell if he's actually ignoreing the conversation, or just focusing on something else... [23]
"A meal and beds
for three?" the barmaid asks, flashing Isidor a flirtatious grin,
"Coming right up, serjos; I'll see to it you get our best prices for the
night." She winks at Isidor and even glances approvingly at Slyvos for a
moment before heading back to the counter, having not really paid much
attention to Reeds.
As the group is sitting and waiting for their rooms, they may notice a
gaudily-ressed Bosmer watching them, his keen eyes appraising them. After a
couple of moments, the Bosmer draws himself up to his full - if not terribly
impressive- height and walks over to the group.
"Pardon me good sirs," he says in a faint Cyrodiilic accent,
"But I coul not help but notice that you have the look of worldly and
cultured men. I was wondering if perhaps you could help an unfortunate soul
right a grievous wrong and in the process, do justice to a most disagreeable
blight upon our fair city."[24]

After recovering from a small fit of laughter, Isidor looked up at the bosmer

Commander
Slashes-With-Claws Was training some of the remaining argonian recruits in hand
to hand combat. He was showing the effectiveness of claws as weapons. He kicked
a practice dummy, the large sharp tallons on his feet shreading the burlap
dummy, sending hay all over. "As you can see, were that a real opponent, a
kick such as that can gut them in one hit." The training continued.
Jei-Set was helping with the rebuilding as best he could. [30]
Slyvos just blinked at the Bosmer, before quickly turning his attention away from the annoying bugger. Obviously he was useing large words and decorating his sentences to lead them on to some miniscule task that had no real meaning... [31]

"Oh, but most certainly a good and most impressive bosmer such as
yourself," Reeds replied to him, "would hardly necessitate the
acquisition of services that three humble travelers could possibly
provide." Reeds would have normally stopped there, but Reeds was not
felling generous today, "Indeed, I believe that a man of your immense...

... Reed's comment make his eyes narrow; instinctively the Bosmer straightens
his back, his expression one of severe wounded dignity.
"Ah; I see," he says, his hazel eyes glaring at Reeds before glancing
back upward at Isidor. "It seems I was somewhat mistaken in my estimation
of your company, good Nord. Truly, I am used to such treatment, as small-minded

Isidor, always a sucker for being a nice guy, gave Reeds a slightly annoyed

Slyvos just rolled his eyes, calling over one of the serving girls and asking for some Flin. "I could tell the moment he started speaking that he would annoy the hell out of us..." [56]
Ingmar pulled up a

detestable cretin he is, but he hides his true colors behind pretty words and

while I was doing my patroitic duty manning the front lines, that miserable

The Dunmer woman's delicate mouth stood open at Slyvos' words, then she began

[103] The Dunmer woman's
delicate mouth stood open at Slyvos' words, then she began to sob. "Oh,
this is so beautiful, being married...", she sighed, a single tear running
down her cheek. She slung her arm around Slyvos and buried her face on his
chest.
"I... I wanted to be married, too. He seemed sweet, he brought me flowers,
was charming a charming man of a Dunmer... I thought he reciprocated my
feelings to him, but then, I saw him one night in the arms of another
woman." Her sobbing continued. "And then..."
The Dunmer girl shook slightly as she held to him, he dark hair smelling
faintly of flowers.
[105]
Slyvos sighed, patting the girl on the back. Why was it always him who had the
emotional problems to solve... "and then what? what happened?" [106]
[107] QUOTE(Loranna @ Jan 14 2006, 06:47 PM)
[108] Neever smiles tightly
at Isidor. "You are a true gentleman, my good Nord. Please,
make youself comfortable ..."
"As you've seen, that red-eyed bully, Aves, bears a most ugly grudge
against me. Ever since he swept into Mournhold, I've seen him for the
loutish, detestable cretin he is, but he hides his true colors behind pretty
words and an affable demeanor, which he uses to take advantage of the
gullible. Since I will not fall prey to his pretty illusions, he has
targeted me with all manner of harrasement and ill-will."
"The most recent attack came during the Redoran's attempton the city;
while I was doing my patroitic duty manning the front lines, that miserable
scrib snuck into my house and made off with my grandfather's saber, a family
heirloom that was given to my grandfather by the Emperor himself for valor and
compassion beyond the call of duty. It has been a prized possession of my
family ever since then - and now that Aves, he wears my grandfather's pride on
his belt, no doubt intending to sully the blade in some drunken duel at the
first opprotunity."
"My good Nord, I beseech you to help me recover my family's pride; will
you help a poor Bosmer do the right thing?" Neever asks.
[110]
Isidor's brow furrowed.
"I would be more than happy to help you, good bosmer, but I would like
some proof before I run into anything." [111]
[112] QUOTE(stargate525 @ Jan 14 2006, 07:53 PM)
[113] "Balance the scales?" Reeds asked after he took a sip of his drink, "Good sir, I make it a practice not to balance scales when I cannot see their contents. Before I agree to anything, I would like to know what it is you want to do to him, and why he deserves it."
[115]
"Well, see," the Dunmer says, "while the city was being overrun
with fabricants and crazed Redorans, I was a mite busy fighting for my life and
my fellow citizens' lives to stop him, but the little nix hound used the chaos
of the battle to break into my home and pinch a few things - tokens from my
lady. The poor thing thinks I pawned them off or something, won't have anything
to do to me now - just what Neever wanted, I wager. Now, I don't know about
you, but that don't strike me as fair now, do it? But if I could get the tokens
back, everything'd be set right again."

[118] Slyvos sighed, patting the girl on the back. Why was it always him who had the emotional problems to solve... "and then what? what happened?"
[120]
The Dunmeri girl still sobbed. "... then, there was that nice Woodelf, he
was so understanding of my feelings, so elaborate. And once I invited him home,
he... he stole from me!"
Her attitude changed rapidly, now, she did not sob anymore, she fumed.
"That bastard of a tree-hopper... he stole from me when I was just trying
to recover from a broken heart by a heartless... inconstant... moron...!"
In her rage, she yanked at the fine hairs at his back... "I want them to

[123] "I helped out

cooking here suffered for it, though Bob has done his share."
Shaka finished a strip of dried fish. The dark beer was going well with it.
[125]
Ingmar nodded, and said. "Well, I hope the city will come back, better
than before ... How has life been in Ald Raathim, aside from the war? Any
interesting gossip?" He asked, while drinking his mead. [126]

"I would be more than happy to help you, good bosmer, but I would like

[130]
Neever's face falls, but only just slightly. "Of course; you are a shrewd
man as well as a perfect gentleman, my good Nord," he says. "If you'd
be so inclined, you'd note that Serjo Aves is in fact wearing a saber on his
belt, the hilt of which is unmistakably of the design favored a hundred years
ago, before the Imperial Legion adopted the more modern Tressir style of basket
hilt for their cavalry blades. You may also note that the hilt is sized more
for a Bosmer's hand than the larger Dumner's. If that is not sufficient, I have
it on good authority from no less than two associates that Aves was seen
skulking around my residence during the battle, not the front lines like
his militia assignment would have required."
He gives Isidor another tight smile. "Is that sufficient proof for you, my
good sir?"[131]

Slyvos grimaced as the girl pulled at light fur on his back, and also somewhat

"Haven't heard too much," said Shaka casually. "Kethiah and
Loranna, now.... What is it about gravid mammals that makes them even more attractive,
I wonder. It must be the Earth Mother thing. But then I'm unique in being
attracted to softskin women."
He looked levelly at Ingmar. "Yes, I noticed how you look at Kethiah, at

experience with her."
"Look, you fought bravely for the city when the chips were down. Just . .

Shaka tried to take the edge off the words. "Okay, end of sermon. Here's

"You instead seem to be one who carefully considers. You're so

"Sorry, Ingmar. My life is messy enough as it is, I don't have the right

He brooded over Anya's plight for a while, then thought of the blue-eyed Dunmer

Where are you these days, Telera, thought the battlemage. If you find out

Slyvos gave Isidor and

to a seat. "I want to apologize for before," Reeds said, handing the
bosmer the drink, "I realize I was a bit short with you before, and that a
man of certain high esteem such as yourself had no reason to be brought lower
by a one such as myself. Forgive me?" Reeds' stomach was turning. If they
were right, the bosmer certianly deserved this, but if they were wrong, he was
egging on an innocent person.
[279]
Neevar looks at Reeds mistrustfully, yanking his arm away from Reeds.
"Sir, must you further debase yourself by laying hands upon my person? Is
not insulting me not enough for your tastes this evening?" he demands, his
tone dripping with distain.[280]

[284]
Reeds straightens himself up to his full height, his entire leg structure
almost perpendicular to the ground and adding several inches to his height,
"You, sir," Reeds replied, throwing as much sarcasm onto the
last word, "Have far too much self worth stuffed into that tiny little
body of yours. Obviously it has pushed out what little sense you were born
with." Reeds gave the Bosmer a feral Grin, exposing his teeth, "Now
sit down before you embarass yourself further."
Reeds caught Aves' eye and gave him an inperceptible nod of his head to the
Dunmer. [285]

"Ha; I see your transparent scheme, marshdweller," Neever
sneers, refusing to be intimidated. "You hope to to taunt me into throwing
a blow at you, that you can then hiss for the guards and claim that I am trying
to assault your person - doubtless the sight of my humble self being dragged
off in shame by the guards will amuse your reptillian mind to no end."
Neever shakes his head. "You will find me impervious to your plans, my
scaled acquaintence; if anyone is to be dragged out of this bar in humiliation,
it ought to be you, who have done nothing but insult and belittle me since I
first uttered friendly words to you."
Aves quietly slips out of his chair, heading for a side door. [290]

[294]
"Your humble self?"
A scream ripped through the common room, making the heads of some regulars spin
towards the source, though all of them kept quiet, for whatever reason.
"You've baused my trust, my pain when my heart was broken by that Aves!

Slyvos just chuckled, glancing to the barmaid. "keep it up, it might
actually work." he whispered, thinking to himself I get myself in
the strangest situations... [305]
Neever looks to the
barmaid, his features twisting. "What?! Absolute poppycock!"
he cries. "That's the same story you've fed every other hansome-looking
bloke that's walked through that door since you played with my heart, you
callow wench! Certainly I would not stoop to steal from a former girlfriend no
matter how badly they treated me!"
He glowers at Slyvos. "What is this? Are you and your friends trying to
pull some sort of scam on me here? First your Nordic companion butters me up,
now the two of you come here to pester me with baseless accusations! I've half
a mind to call the guards myself!"
Isidor will fin Aves a bit hard to follow; with the business on the street and
the bard's natural agility, he blends into the crowd quite quickly. Still,

[447] The guard shrugs, as
Aves says easily "You know, it was Neever's house I was ..."
"That's a lie!" Neever yells.
"No it's not Neever; I know where you live," the guard replies,
taking Neever by the arm roughly. "Really, you two belong together;
maybe we'll put you both in the same cell."
The Bosmer and the Dunmer are both carted off, the barmaid's trinkets
returned. The patrons give the group a small ovation and then go back to
their drinks.
[449]
The barmaid was full of joy, both because her trinkets were returned to her and
that she had seen these thieves being given what they deserved. She slowly went
back on her duties and as the guards left the Winged Guar, the tavern returned
to it's usual hustle.
After a while though, a Dunmer barmaid with fiery eyes could be seen serving a
handsome Darkelf a drink, smiling sweetly and brushing his cheeck... [450]

"Well now," said Reeds to Isidor and Slyvos, "I couldn't have
thought of a better way to pass the evening. If you'll excuse me, I think I'll
head off to bed."
Reeds found one of the three beds they had been given, and slept like the
proverbial log. [455]
Ald Raathim
Gistral's Redguards had already become a welcome addition to the harried forces
of the city, and Ald Raathim's scouts found themselves naturally responding to
his easy-going charm. The fact that the Duchess had expressed her confidence in
the Redguard warrior doubtless had something to do with it as well; the
soldiers of Ald Raathim had learned they could usually trust Loranna's
judgement.
Thus it was that Gistral was presented with a report by a junior scout, his
ashen features drawn into lines of worry. "Serjo; we've found Redoran
troops in our outermost terriroty," he says. "A relatively small
force, but they appear well-armed, and the farms in that area are not
well-defended."[456]
Summary for Kiseena
Kiseena had spent some time at the Nymph and Noggin, the tavern that seemed to
quickly have become her usual haunt. She chatted with Loranna, Gram and Anya
awhile, drank herself to sleep, and woke up with a rather worrisome nightmare.
She'd talked to Shaka about where Anya might be, and then decided to go get
herself into some trouble. Being thiefly helped calm her mind, at times.
After getting herself into a scant bit of trouble (though it's up for debate:
you can only really get in trouble if you're caught), Kiseena wandered her way
back to the Nymph, hoping to spy Anya again. [457]

The junior found Gistral at the Nymph and Noggin, eating dinner. It was
evening, and nightfall was but an hour away. The Redguard looked slightly
tired, but he seemed to shine with the satisfaction of having helped build up a
shelter for the people of Ald Raathim.
"A small force of plunderers?", Gistral asked. "The farmlands
are ravaged already, we mustn't allow them to do more damage. And we need to

He walked over to the Redgaurd's table. "Dar'Tessir will help,"
Dar'Tessir said almost casually and added, "He can cast spells and kill

be helpful and help prevent him from having to charge headlong into the enemy. [472]

Kiseena began to rifle through her pack, readying her things. Small pouches of

Astien simply nodded, casting forth a greenish light from his hands; he
disappeared completely.
"Ready when you are." An invisible voice called out. [529]
From the road to the farmhouse, very little could be seen due to the rapidly encroching darkness. There was a light on inside, but it seemed that there was no light outside. Within the house, the Redorian Commander looked over his plans. He knew that there was a high likelyhood that the enemy would come, and thier orders were simple. If the enemy was to come in large numbers, recall back to Tel Sigrid. If the enemy was to come in small numbers, fight them and kill them off. If the enemy were to gain the upper hand, recall to Tel Sigrid. Redorian had lost too many of her troops in the follys of the previous few days, and she didnt want to loose any more. Not only was this a pillage mission, but a mission to test the responces of Ald Raathams army. [530]
The Redguard crouched
behind a low bush, his dark skin blending well with the dark. His sand-coloured
leather armour did not, though. Gathering up some mud and earth, he applied it
to the armour, darkening it a bit.
"Be quiet now. Someone should go forth and try to count them. We need to
know where they are and how they are armed. I can give cover with my bow."

Kiseena was lucky that the clothes of the lower-class in Ald Raathim were mostly
darker tones. She didn't feel like dirtying herself more than necesary. She had

"Dar'Tessir will go," whispered Dar'Tessir while casting a chameleon
spell. He advanced slowly and quietly with the other Khajiit, trying not to
rustle the bushes. With Their inborn nightvision they didn't have to get as
close as the others would have had to. They peered between the crops and saw
four Redorans gaurding the farmhouse. Both carfully made their way back to

Dar'Tessir's already large eyes opened even wider as he saw one of his green
balls fly back at him. He cursed in ta'Agra and tried to jump out of the way
but the spell caught him on the foot. Dar'Tessir fell to the ground and yelled,
"Dar'Tessir's Blinded!" only nothing came out. He didn't know but
falling had caused an arrow to miss his head, instead pinning his sleave to the

Gistral cursed and asked himself why he didn't aim his arrow at the throat.
"This is property of the Duchess of Daruhn! You are surrounded!", he
shouted. "You have seen the victory of Ald Raathim. You have seen the
ferocity of the fighting. If you kill them, your life is forfeit! You still can
surrender."
Then, he quickly moved forward to change his position, and ran towards the

Shaka, still in chameleon, felt his anger slip from his control. Kill the
hostages, just as they liked to kill their slaves, and the people of Daruhn . .
. .
He found himself swinging at the guard's neck with the kukri, which should be
able to decapitate him with one blow. At the same time, he reached with his
left hand to the Spear slung on his back and called forth a Storm Atronach. If
they could rush the house and set upon the Redorans, maybe the enemy would be
taken by surprise before they could make good on their threat. [613]

There was a burst from one of the windows in the back, and suddenly, there was
a Redguard standing in the farmhouse. Gistral had circled the house, and under
the influence of the Redguard's inborn ability, the Adrenaline Rush, he was
fast.
His silver sword was now drawn and and shone menacingly in the light of the
fire in the hearth. [619]

Shaka's unvoiced command to the Atronach was simple: Kill all the dunmer
warriors you see.
He was fully visible now, but no longer cared. The Spear was a blurred arc as
he parried the first Redoran's sword, then attempted to disable his arm. [624]

"Go ahead," Kiseena hissed at the guard she was facing. "Make a
move, cave-rat. Kiseena has not gone mousing in far too long."
She held her dagger and throwing knife point-down, looking like she was ready
to spring as soon as the Redoran she was facing so much as twitched wrong. She
was hiding the fact that she wasn't sure if she should attack like the others,
or try to hold back for the sake of those prisoners. [629]
Dar'Tessir regained his sight and voice. When he tried to stand he found he was pinned by an arrow. He pulled it out of the ground and stood up to see Shaka fighting like a madman and Kiseena looking like a Senche cub about to pounce on its first prey. He was usure of what to do unil an arrow whizzed by his ear. He pulled out his dagger and charged, ducking and weaving to avoid arrows until he got close enough to strike the archer. [630]
At this point, the
Redorans abandoned any pretense to subtlty that they may have clung to;
already, someone was yelling "These are not soldiers, it's the Duchess's
own!" and a second screamed "For our fallen borthers!"
Dar'Tessir is chased by arrows the entire length of his charge, bonemold shafts
whizzing past him like angry parrapton young. Seeing that the Khajiit was still
standing, the two archers drop their bows and grab their swords, meeting
Dar'Tessir's attack with blows meant to slice him to pieces.
Kiseena's opponent sneers, but a look of worry is evient in his eyes ... so he
raises his hands and casts fire at the Khajiit woman, growling "Then play
in the fire, cat!" The grsss burns under the fireball as it screeches
toward Kiseena.
Shaka's Storm Atronach obieantly wades in, forcing two spearmen to fight it; a
third Redoran joins in, hurling spell after spell at the Daedra as its massive
arms seek to crush. Shaka's Spear, meanwhile, slices open his opponent's arm,
prompting him to jump on the Argonian and stab and punch for all he's worth.
Inside, Gistral finds himself facing three Redorans with swords drawn, charging
him, and a fourth - ostensibly the commander - standing over a
frightened-looking Dunmer woman and her son. There is no sign of a husband

Time slowed in Kiseena's mind as the fireball came at her. She began to weigh
different facts and the options she faced. She had been chosen for her stealth,
but this was no longer a stealth mission. Gistral had mentioned that the farm
having not burned yet, and it seemed an important fact.
"Fur will grow back," Kiseena repeated as she came to a
decision, remembering her day back with the burning oil. In as quick a motion
as she could, she dropped her silver dagger, and launched a knife at one of the
bowmen after Dar'Tessir, as well as a pair at the Redoran who had cast the

[668]
Dar'Tessir closed in, dodgeing blows through jumps, ducks, and parries. The
knife bounced off the Redoran's armor, distracting him. Dar'Tessir turned
towards the distracted Dunmer, tripping the other with his tail. Dar'Tessir
activated the enchantment of his recently aquired bonebiter amulet, causing the
Dunmer pain as his bones were magickally attacked. This gave Dar'Tessir time to
shove his dagger where the archer's jaw met with his neck, spurtting blood
everywhere.
Unfortunately, Dar'Tessir had forgotten about the tripped Dunmer. That is until
he sliced a gash down the back of his leg. Dar'Tessir yowled in pain as he fell
back onto the Dunmer, who was still lying on his back. As the archer brought
his sword down perpendicular to the neck of the Khajiit who was laying on him,
the Khajiit blocked by using one hand to push against the Dunmer's. The other
hand he used to reach back and scratch at his opponents eyes. [669]
The Redoran fighting
Kiseena looks surprised when the Khajiit woman takes his fireball unflinchingly;
though the flames sear her flesh and burn off her fur, she can see a look of
respect in his eyes ...
...and then her knife hits home, and he pitches over, her blade sunk between
his eyes. Her second knife hits Dar'Tessir's still-standing enemy and distracts
him.
The Atronach is dead now, but it took three of the Redoran with him; the mage,
the only one still standing, looks severely wounded, but launches desperate
fire blasts at any non-Dunmer he sees, trying to inflict some damage.
Shaka's sudden appearance turns the tide for Gistral, who by now was being
sorely pressed. One of Gistral's remaining enemies turns to face Shaka, while
the commander moves to keep Gistral occupied ...
Astien hears arrows whizzing by his ears, as one, forgotten Redoran, tries to
shoot down the enemy mage.[670]

Kiseena is bowled over, finally ending up on her back. She squirms there as
most of her torso either hurts, tingles, or feels nothing. Though somehow,

[679]
Gistral's armour had taken a severe pounding and the Redguard was bleeding from
several cuts in his arms and chest. The effect of the adrenaline rush had ceased,
and only by now the Redguard felt the hurt. He flinched, but pulled himself up
again. His sword was covered in red blood and he circled around the Redoran
officer.
"I told you you were surrounded...", he said, grimacing, then his
blade struck low at the Dunmer's legs. [680]
Dar'Tessir manages to blind his opponent with his claws, giving him enough time to retrieve his dagger from the fallen Dunmer. He slits the throat of the living archer, both exchanging racial slurs up to that point. Dar'Tessir tried to get up and walk but failed, was bleeding badly from his leg. He called to Astien for help. Shaka parried the Redoran's sword, then managed to catch it in one of the
Spear's flanges. The two males were locked in a tableau for a moment before,
with an effort, Shaka forced the sword to the side and kicked the Redoran in
the face. Though he wore a bonemold helm, the Redoran was down and out of the
fight.
Gistral's eyes were dilated from the Adrenaline Rush, and he was still fighting
with inhuman quickness. Shaka measured his situation, then rushed outside; he
had heard the explosion of a fireball spell, and Gistral looked as if he could
take care of himself.
Shaka could see immediately that he would have to use his healing magicka to
stabilize Kiseena, but the thief should live; and hopefully without much
scarring. [686]

Gistral let out a curse, being in dismay that the Dunmer escaped, but then
tried to calm down. He quickly searched the other rooms of the farmhouse, and
found the slain body of a Dunmer in farmer's clothes. Another curse came over
his lips as he turned the corpse around and brushed over the eyes to close
them. He headed back into the main room. The rush and excitement of the fight
still was visible on his face, but there was also sorrow, as he approached the
mother and son.
"Are you all right? Healers will be here soon. I'm very sorry about what
happened.", he said, giving the Dunmer woman a reassuring glance and a
touch on her shoulder. He took a small pouch from his belt and placed it into
the boys hands. The faint jingle of coins could be heard.
"It's not much...", he said.

His own adrenaline wearing off now, Shaka was ashamed of his berserker rage. He
tried to comfort the mother and son as best he could; probably not much.
Gistral found the dead husband in another room.
"Thank you for this day, Gistral," he said wearily to the Redguard.
"I'm sorry if I got us deeper into the mess."
Shaka walked back outside to see how well the others were healing. Whether he
carried Kiseena back to Ald Raathim's healers, or she were able to walk on her
own, remained to be seen. [697]
After Astien had healed him Dar'Tessir stood up and walked to the door of the farmhouse, limping a little. Seeing the scene inside he walked away, he wasn't very good at consoleing people. He walked over to Kiseena and felt a strange mix of emotions: concern, a little humor, and respect. [698]
Anya sat on her bed,
huging her legs. She was in the mine, recently moved into. The three argonian

still smell and hear them.
Anya had heard about the Redoran soldiers that were near, but neglected to go.
Anya was in no hurry to go back into battle, and was scared of her own strength

flashed through her mind.
Anya wasn't hungery, yet, still sustained from the battle. She breifly wondered

[732] Anya studied her hand
a bit more, finally creating the ridges along the back of it the way she
wanted. "I wouldn't know where to look."
Anya sat up, her hand reverting back to original shape. "They're not mine.
They were given to me. My Charm isn't as strong as the one used on them, so I'm
stuck with the three brothers craning their necks at me."
[734]
Shaka felt his gorge rise as he looked at the Cattle. Was this how he appeared
to the world?
He calmed down a little. No sense in raging at her. "I'm sorry, Anya. It's
just that I'm having trouble dealing with this. And if you let them stay,
eventually it will make more and more sense to start using them as Cattle like
all the vamps do."
Shaka slumped on the floor with his back to the wall.[735]

Anya cocked her head, "Shaka, I can still read you."
Anya frowned, shaking her head at Shaka, "I don't want to use them

Charm. Don't tell me what will make sense, though. You're not the cursed one

[744]
He had to reluctantly nod at that last. Shaka still felt he had hit on
something, though. Given a choice between draining forest creatures and opening
the pantry, so to speak, Anya would soon start going to the pantry. The
brothers.
"Gistral and a few of us got together, stopped the Redorans holed up at a
farm nearby," he said. "We couldn't save the father of the family,
but we won in the end and forced the survivors to Recall. . . . I only wonder
what we'll do next time. We don't have enough people to station troops at every
farm in Daruhn."
"I should have asked how you're doing, Anya. Anything I can do to
help?"[745]

[747] The courier was polite, and asked whether it would be possible to awaken Isidor's companions. The King regrets that he is so busy, but there is a limited amount of time when he can speak with the diplomats from Ald Raathim.
[749]
Reeds came out of the bedrooms into the bar area, saw the courier's armor, and
sat down next to Isidor, "Bloody early for a meeting don't you

Anya sat at the edge of her bed, tucking her legs back to her chest, "I- I

Anya paused, mouth hanging open, "I, in the battle, I couldn't stop. He
stabbed me in the stomach, and I was lost. I did whatever it took to hurt
whoever was in reach." Anya tucked her head between her legs, "That
was me out there though, Anya was wanting their lives, not the vampire." [755]

There were more than a few Imperials in the tavern, and though all were in dark
cloaks, Reeds did notice on one the emblem of the dragon of the Septim dynasty.

can't hold it in anymore. You probably didn't go berserk when you were a
freelance assassin and thief. You also had Vondicus to keep your head on

Even as Shaka held the blonde bosmer, thoughts came to him. She's still

Anya gripped Shaka. It felt good to be held. Her nose flared, though. The smell
of his life-giving blood was strong, but she didn't feel a pull to it. Yet.
Anya felt that there was something still there. She didn't want them to end,

She tossed that aside. Anya wanted to enjoy whatever she could. [833]

"We will send the third royal infantry battallion to Ald Raathim

"You have seen the castle from the outside, I take it you can infer the
rest," Helseth replied, with his customary lack of emotion. "Before
he was slain, our emissary to Ald Raathim, Pythus Angelicus, a cousin of His
Imperial Majesty, described the battle and the army you faced. Ours was similar

Dinara looked to her husband as he talked, and her eyes told volumes. There was
pride and love there. Though she was married to Helseth as a political

"My husband couldn't speak frankly about our situation with the Emperor's

Ald Raathim
"Today, we give thanks and honor to our brothers and sisters, our fathers
and mothers, who made the ultimate sacrifice for us," Loranna says,
looking over the assembled crowd in Ald Raathim's main square. The presence of
the tent town lent a strange feel to the memorial service, making the somber
event feel almost like a camping expidition - but the looks on peoples' faces
swiftly reminded anyone who thought otherwise of the true purpose of the
gathering.
"We have suffered, but we endure," Loranna continues, the words
practised beforehand but the feeling behind them invested with her rising
emotions. "We have been hurt, but we rebuild. Ald Raathim shall shine once
again, our lives and our prosperity the greatest monument one could hope to offer
for those who have fought and died for us."
"Let their names be inscribed in stone, that all who come to our city may
know who they were. Let us give thanks to them for what they have done for us,
and honor their memory by continuing to live - free people, brought together by
struggle, showing the world what men and mer together can accomplish when their
paths are their own to choose."
The people looked at one another, grim smiles showing here and there; their
loved ones would be honored. It was a bitter consolation, but it was something.
The ceremony did not last long; there was simply too much to do, and people had
already done much of their mourning in private. Servants gravely took down the
names of those who people reported dead for the menorial which would be built,
and people went back to the work of picking up the pieces of their lives.
After the ceremony, Loranna went back to the Mage Guild, there to meet with
merchants from Cyrodiil who were delivering food to the city - food which
should have been here yesterday. Food Ald Raathim needed now.
The look upon the merchant's faces brought a crease to Loranna's brow; she
wasn't in the best of moods already as it was ... [945]

Kethiah accompanied Loranna to the Guild, as the Duchess's import/export agent
(as well as her Spymaster) she knew all the merchants involved.[960]
Nalion had packed his
belongings for the trip to Firsthold the previous night. It took him some time
to gather his belongings, the skin of his burnt palms was still sensitive to
touch, and if he would grab an item too hard, it would still hurt. It wasn't much
that he had to gather, though. A few spare clothes, some potions and a pouch of
money. The mage decided to leave his staff in Ald Raathim, he could not use it
anyways at this time. However, he tugged the Dagger of Senses into it's sheath
and fastened it to his belt. For the voyage, Nalion had chosen his best robe,
the red and blue one he had been given in Cyrodiil a few months ago.
His magic skills still had not returned, which began to worry him, he felt
almost naked without it. For someone who had been practising and using magic
for years, this truly was an awkward and almost helpless feeling.
Nalion applied some of the healing salve Loranna had given him to his wounds
before tugging it into his bag as well. From a table, he gathered his leather
bag which held a few magic scrolls and paper. As a last preparation, he tugged
away the ring with a chameleon enchantment he usually wore and put a new one on
his finger, one gleaming faintly red.
Thus prepared, he set out for the Mages Guild and after paying the usual fare,
he stepped onto the Guide platform and moments later, he stood in the Guild of
Firsthold, on the other side of Tamriel. [961]

[970]
---Raven Rock, Solstheim,
Erenius looks out over the sea, bits of ice floating in the harbor, his ships
bobbing up and down as the loads are redistributed for their journey. It had
been too long since he had seen action, either political or military. But soon,
with some luck, it would all change. For the past few weeks, after listening to
worsening reports of the status of Ald Raathim and scattered musings from
various seers and locals.
'And soon I shall reenter the arena and I shall feel whole again. But much has
changed, I know not where anyone is, or what will await me in the city,'
Erenius thinks to himself. 'The city will likely need soldiers, if the
reports on the siege are true, and supplies, yet I have not enough
ships...nevermind that, it shall wait for later.'
He turns his back on his small fleet, five ferries as commonly found on
Vvardenfall, and no more than a dozen small coastal skiffs, a longboat, and a
single Imperial warship. They were at Raven Rock's dock, the colony still
remaining despite the short-lived Redoran presence, however minimal, on the
island.
All around him the colony, usually rather quiet and uneventful, found itself
abuzz with life. This colony of some eighty people now almost quintupled in
size, gaining just over one hundred and fifty new people, some fourty cavalry,
all veterans of the expedition Erenius took part in through Skyrim, sixty
sailors, twenty porters, and somwhere around fifty sympathizers to the plight of
Ald Raathim, all willing to share in the besieged city's suffering so as to
better aid them.
After looking over his crew, soldiers, and charge, Markir and Erenius turn
their attention again to the docks.
"Markir, have you found a way to take our skiffs across the sea between
here and Ald Raathim?" Erenius asks.
"Aye, just before leaving we shall tie two skiffs to each of our larger
vessels and tow them to the destination, at which poin they shall be untied and
go about their assigned duty," Markir replies contentedly, proud of his
solution, however common it may be.
"Good," Erenius says. "Have the ships set out within the hour,
and make sure the horses, and my Companions are on the flagship with me, I must
speak with them while en route."
Markir nods. "And what of me?"
"You, good friend, shall be on one of the converted ferries, orchestrating
the minutiae of our operation. When we come within sight of Ald Raathim, I
shall retake authority and manage our movements," Erenius says,
reiterating the plan that was to be followed since many weeks ago when this
operation was first concieved.
With that, the banners and whistles sounded, signalling a boarding for all the
ships in the small fleet headed towards Ald Raathim. Within thirty minutes,
everything was set, all but Markir, Erenius, and a few stragglers of the
civilians coming with them were aboard.
"Farewell, my good friend," Erenius says, boarding his flagship, if
one could call it that.
"And same to you," Markir replied, clambering up a ladder towards the
lead ferry.
By the end of the next hour they were all to sea, skiffs in tow, everything in
place for the time when Ald Raathim would come to view. [971]

[973] Dinara smiled, relieved, and with a farewell, returned to the throne room.
[975]
The trio walked back to the Mages Guild, and then, transported back to Ald
Raathim. Isidor smiled, upon arriving back in his home. [976]
Shaka sat in the Nymph
and Noggin, a little subdued after the memorial service. He was glad that he
and Anya hadn't missed it. Dignified and simple, he had judged the ceremony to
be.
[977]
--Present Day, Just
outside of Ald Raathim's Port---
"Sire! Red flags," a sailor shouted towards Erenius.
"I see. We shall head forth through the ships. Fly the Orange, White, and
Green flags. Should there be no friendly response for whatever reason, raise
our blue and yellow ones!" Erenius barks, hoping his gamble with the
skiffs will work.
"Aye!" the sailor aboard responds as others go about the hanging of
the flags on the stern mast of the vessel.
Aboard another ship Markir was getting nervous. WIth so many hostile ships so
close a wrong move in this could easily spell doom for this crazy venture.
Then, the flags came, first Black, then Orange, and Black lastly, as per the
orders. "Make the skiffs ready! Skiff crews should be aboard after
preperations have been made!"
Men scurried about, there were but two people in each skiff boat, one to steer,
the other to complete the mission. They neared, one hundred
yards...seventy...fifty...thirty five...twenty...fifteen...all craft let loose
their skeleton-manned skiffs.
Eleven small, light craft ran towards their objectives, the lead Redoran vessel
before the flagship.
Aboard the group's flagship Erenius was panicking slightly, for the skiffs had
released, yet the wind had scattered them.
"Damn this all! Make ready our arrows and bring forth the brazier!"
Erenius ordered as ten of his companions went below to fetch bows and arrows
for themselves and Erenius. They shortly came to return and were preparing when
around them two ships were alight in flames, a Redoran cutter to their left,
and the ship right ahead of them, a larger vessel, likely a fleut of some make
belonging to the Redoran.
"Thank the Gods for small miracles."
There were now six men in the water, three skiffs having hit their targets, two
upon the larger fleut, one at the cutter. Now speed was of the essence. Two of
the skiffs were not laden with flammables, having been tasked with the
collection of the crew of each explosive skiff, assuming they listened and
followed instinct. Several tense minutes would pass, the skiff having
difficulty distinguishing Redoran sailor from those of the mercenary force en
route to the city.
Five more minutes would pass before word would come. And when it did, not all
of it was good.
"Sir! Three skiffs hit their marks, of the six crew, five were found
alive. The other eight skiffs set with the flammables were scattered to the
winds, none are rescuable, their crews shot to pieces by Redoran marines aboard
their vessels," a sailor returning from the secondary vessel, commanded by
Markir, says to Erenius.
"Very well then, casualties were to be expected, and my haste in movement
pays dearly," Erenius says. "But may those lives lost here mean lives
we have saved inside the city. Set full speed towards the docks and keep an eye
out for more Redoran trying to close our escape route. Let us hope they
do!"
"As you say," the Altmer says, confused as to Erenius' sudden bout of
madness. [978]
"Really, these
sorts of delays are not uncommon ..." the merchant insisted, really
wishing that Loranna would stop giving him that stare - her face was suited for
smiling and for laughing like a beautiful young woman should, not for the sort
of cold, 'You Will Do This Now' stare that belonged on the face of a
hard-featured, stern patriarch ...
"You promised the delivery would be here by yesterday; I paid extra to
ensure it," Loranna points out.
"Yes, well ... I'm sure in a few days everything will be all set ..."
This was intolerable; she was desperate for the food, he should have had all
the bargaining power. "There could be some additional expenses ..."
"By tomorrow morning, or you can say goobye to the money I already paid
you," Loranna says in a tone that leaves no room for argument. "No
aditional expenses; a deal is a deal."
"Of course, Your Grace ..." the merchant promised, now remembering
one bit of advice his father gave him about dealing with expectant mothers - a
little late, he reflects ruefully.
As the merchant hurries off, Loranna turns to Kethiah and sighs, looking tired.
"I hope the day gets better from here ..."
