Hello,
and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and
socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
PLEASE READ THE
FOLLOWING, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NEW!!!
===
Newcomers, we ask you to
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855
before starting up; everyone will be happier for it. Also,
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737 as soon as possible;
this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.
To help you get up to speed, here is
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html. This summary doesn't cover
everything but it sums up some of the bigger events our campaign has covered.
Note: She will probably update and edit this summary as time goes on.
===
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does
not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The
events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can
be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of
disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character
at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are
NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT
FIRST. Let me be very clear about
what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING
IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are
encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for
some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is
not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there
for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP
You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!
===
IMPORTANT: WE HAVE
JUMPED SIX MONTHS INTO THE FUTURE; IT IS NOW MID YEAR IN THE RP (i.e., June)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v622/Shardie/mapofmorrowind2.jpg is a map
provided by Shardie showing the current division of territory between the
forces loyal to the crown and the rebels in Morrowind.

Summary for Loranna: Loranna is in Ald Raathim, busily preparing for a
potential Redoran invasion, and hoping that Diamond is all right - though she
does not trust the people who sent her Diamond's necklace with a bloody knife
... [1]
Gladro,
Streets of Ald Raathim
Gladro is trying to help with the preperations for the upcoming battle.
He is still trying to figure out the mystery of his fathers apperance, as well.
[2]
Summary
Kratos and Ivelaes are in Molag Mar, the enemy forces will no doubt be upon
them soon; hopefully, they have prepared themselves for the worst.
Astien Dalomax is in Ald Raathim; finishing more potions for Loranna as
thoughts run deep through his mind about the recent news of battle. [3]
Kiseena is in the Nymph and Noggin tavern, drinking and chatting with her new friend and fellow second-story lady, Anya. [4]
What a day!
I have been following Faryon to the ends of the earth. I contacted a Argonian
who said they could take me to where Faryon was, but it seems like I am in a
carrage of some description, without a light.
Speaking of Dark Places, I got a letter the other day from Selvia, you remember
her, dont you? the crazy woman who kidnapped Lyssia all those times ago in the
desert? Anyway, it seems that she has calmed down somewhat, or is she eagerly
plotting revenge... She said in the letter that she was going to visit a friend
of hers in Senshal, or whatever. I do hope shes okay, its a big city, and those
kitties are nimble thieves...
What? it seems we have reached our desternation. I'll try and write again when
I have the chance... [5]
Summary: Anya is getting a handle on her vampirism, starting with walking during daylight. She just met one of the entertainers from the Arena, and is befriending her. She's sitting in the Nymph and Noggin with several others. [6]
Sumary: Dynate has
taken time off to really put all his time into the military, a Imperial legion
champion has come to Ald Rathim, assuring him, fighting with allies was now
accepted by the imperials in his case, and with such, she and another Legion
member (or Ex i should say) have enlist with the army to protect the city.
--------------------
Dynate sweat heavily as he ran back to the wall site from his scouting rounds.
He breathes heavily, someone hands him a flask of water.
"Man, i dont wanna be the one who would have to sprint back to camp after
spotting the army."
After walking off his fatigue, he see's an armoured Argonian attempting to push
a huge crate of building tools tword another part of the site.
He was doing pretty well two, but he looked like he could use some help.
Dynate puts down the flask, and walks over tword Shaka.
"You need any help with this?" [7]
Summary for Nalion
Nalion, a male Breton mage, medium height, brown hair with matching eyes, has
recently attended Isidor and Kethiah's wedding. He has talked with various
poeple about past and present events and is now currentlz preparing himself for
the events to come. [8]

[12]
Shaka accepted the offer. "Thanks. No sense in me using magicka to help
lift this."
When the crate had been dropped off, Shaka looked down the length of the outer
wall. Soldiers and civilian volunteers worked steadily in the summer heat,
digging trenches and building obstacles to slow the warrior Houses. Some were
joking, not really believing Ald Raathim was in danger yet. Surely Mournhold or
Vivec City would be the true targets. Others were less positive, and worked with
grim determination. [13]
OOC SUMMARY:
Vaan has just assigned all of the Muatramer troops in the city to go under the
command of Slashes-With-Claws (Vaan clearly has much faith in Slashes' skill as
a commander of large forces).
Meanwhile, Vaan himself has said all his appropriate prayers, and is now
heading to his room in the Nymph & Noggin to check that all his equipment
is okay.
Of the Muatramer forces in Mournhold, no doubt Necron and the Leader of the
Muatramer himself have them all in check. [14]
Summary for
Morteus:
Morteus is currently in Ald Raathim, having no idea why all the people are so
nervous. Best time to find out...
___________________________
Morteus was wondering why all the people were so nervous. It made himself
nervous. Something important, and probably, not so good for the inhabitants of
Ald Raathim, is going to happen. When he asked one man what is going on, the
man ignored him, and speeded-up. Also, large groups of armed men were
frequently seen in the streets. He has decided to visit the Nymph, and ask the
owner what is going on, when he saw a man with a bronze armor and blue skirt on
him , walking in the same direction as he, and Morteus approached him:
Excuse my sir, but can you please tell me, what is making all the people
nervous? [15]

[19]
Vaan turned to Morteus.
"Bad things. Very bad things. Best to stay indoors."
He would have loved to have been less brief, and have told the man about what
was about to happen, but it was nay a wise idea.
He thought for a while, before adding:
"Can you fight? What's your name?"[20]
"My name is
Morteus. I am capable of fighting, altough strength is not my priority. I
prefer more, "stealthy" fighting. And may I know your honorable
name?"
This man was more than interesting. He surely knew what is going on and he
surely was no one to play with. Morteus decided to get as many information from
him as he can. [21]

"Me? I'm Vaan Surethi, Lord Grandmaster of the Muatramer order of
protection, and loyal servant of the New Temple."
"Fighting, that's good, you're going to need that. Come (Vaan

When they entered the Nymph, sound of a lute and chatter hit their ears. Vaan
pointed towards an empty table and they both went to it. As soon as they sat
down, a barmaid has arrived.
"I'll have a flin." said Vann.
"One sujamma here." ordered Morteus.
When the barmaid has left, Morteus said:
"Here we can have a undisturbed conversation, I hope. And you can tell me
more about this Muatramer order." [31]

[35]
"Indeed. The Muatramer order is a part of the New Temple. It's the
military arm, and the servants of the faithful of Morrowind."
Vaan took a sip of his Flin, and continued.
"There are four orders; the Order of protection, the Order of War, and the
Order of Intelligence. The fourth Order protects Temple property. I am the
leader of the Order of Protection (we protect the people), My friend and master
Necron leads the Order of Intelligence(they stop the enemy from infiltrating
the temple), and Lord Kratos leads the Order of War (they fight our
enemies)"
The Word "Muatramer" means Spearmen, generally. More specifically
it's "Vivec's Spears".
He paused for awhile. "And you? Are you affiliated with anyone,
Morteus?"

Morrowind, and I haven't decided to join a faction, if any." said Morteus,
taking a sip of his sujamma.
Morteus looked around and said:
"I saw people with similar armor like you, armed with spears and with
swords. Did they come with you?"
Morteus wasn't a religious type, but gods, worshipped by the Dunmer Temple,
always fascinated him, so did the Daedra. [41]

Vaan nodded. "Yes, they did. They are Muatramer troops of my order,
originally here to help support the Refugees".
He took a another sip of his Flin. [46]
The Breton Arynel entered the Nymph and Noggin and surveyed the goings on inside, before ordering a drink from the barkeep. [47]
Another man entered
the tavern. He was wearing a cloak. The man looked around the tavern and walked
towards the barkeep, probably to order a drink. There was some kind of
authority around him, at least Morteus thought that. He dissmised the man and
turned to Vann again.
"And what is the Order of Protection doing in Ald Raathim?" he asked.

"No, he's not in the Muatramer, but he's one of the Pillars of the new

very wise too, clearly."

Summary for
Dastril:
Dastril is in Nymph and Noggin upstairs making himself cozy and preparing to
get downstairs to hear latest rumours.
***
"Greebo, eh? That's what the stable-boy called you? Now there's a good
cat-name that I can approve. Greebo thou shalt be." The cat in front of
Dastril nodded and... spoke something. In a strange language.
Dastril nodded. "Yes, we should go downstairs now. I'm gonna need a drink
and you... Milk? No? You want something stronger? Okay, okay, I'll put some
flin on a plate and hand it to you."
The cat jumped on his shoulders and they headed together downstairs, looking
for a free table. [64]

[68]
Morteus took a last sip from his drink, emptying the bottle.
"Well, back to the current situation. I saw group of soldiers, even
Muatramer ones, in the street, and I see them more and more frequently. Some
people act very strange, like they know something the others don't. I don't
know what is happening, but it probably isn't anything good. I think (altough I
may be wrong) that you are not going to tell me, it's probably something very
important. I won't try to discover, as I don't want to even raise the
excitement. I was thinking about joining the local Militia, or Imperial Legion
to earn some gold and so on. Can you direct me to someone who can help me with
that?" [69]
Dastril approaches
Vaan's and Morteus' table noticing the free seat in otherwise full inn.
"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" [70]
Slashes-With-Claws,
commander of the armed forces of Ald Raathim, is at the barracks, giving out
orders for setting up defenses of the city.
Jei-Set sits in the Nymph & Noggin, drinking some Heshkal. [71]

Vaan nodded.
"Correct, I can't, and won't, tell you what is about to happen. There is,
however, a barracks in this city, where the local Army lies, training."
He made a very quick sketch using some charcoal from a pouch, showing the route
to the Barracks from the Nymph, on a scrap of paper that was lying around.
"I think that's it...no...wait.."
He rubbed a bit out, and re-drew it. "There, that's it. I think."
He handed the scrap to Morteus, and smiled. "The Commander's name is
Slashes-With-Claws. You should speak to him about joining."[76]

Dastril sat, and
Greebo jumped from his shoulder to under the table.
Then Dastril waved a waitress to come.
"Two bottles of flin and a cup. Oh, and a deep plate, please." Then
he looked at those who shared the table with him.
"Is there anything you want?" [81]

Vaan pointed to his own Flin:
"I'm fine for the moment, but thankyou for the offer."
Putting two and two together, he commented very quietly on the animal
underneath the table.
"Two Flin's, one for you and one for what appears to be your cat. Or
judging from that, not a cat, and in fact an Alfiq, am I right?" [91]

"My name is Dastril, and I'm on a tour for sight seeing." He said it

Vaan's eyebrow's rose a little. He assumed that this man could not tell an
Alfiq and a cat apart, either that, or he was lying. Vaan decided not to press
matter further, because it was only a harmless little mis-truth.
"A drunken cat...how adorable" He said, with a smile. [105]
"Ok, my friends,
I have to depart. I hope we will see each other again. Vaan thanks for the
instructions, Dastril, nice meeting you. Goodbye." said Morteus, he stood
up, put some money from his pouch on the table and he headed for the door.
He planned to head for the barracks. Following the instructions on the paper
from Vaan, he came in front of a medium building. He knocked on the door. A
voice from inside replied:
"Yes?"
"I'm looking to sign up for the militia, can you help me?" [106]

Vaan spoke once more, while taking a sip of his Flin while doing so:
"So, what brings you to Ald Raathim?"

"Ah, I just came here to observe the whole situation. For...
Sightseeing." He would really make up a good lie to explain why he was
there. Until then, he would just have to make some hazy reference's to some
event.
"So. I think I've missed your name on some point. What was it again?"

summary:
Slyvos had spoken with Shaka a short while ago, having told him a few of the
important details of his past and giving him the armor for Anya to wear. And
now, our furry mage was wearing one of his more informal purple robes,
wandering around the outside of the castle from part boredom, partly from being
fidgety, and partly from being worried as hell and having nothing else to do.
---------------------------------------
And indeed, he did look a bit worried if you managed to get a good look at him.
"okay, okay, maybe the others are around somewhere... at least talking
to someone might take my mind off of things, because what I usually do isn't helping."
The only place he could think to look for company when the castle was basically
empty, was where he went; the Nymph and Noggin, which he was now heading
towards. [191]
OOC Summary
Dar'Tessir is in the Nymph, He had decided how to spend his money, or some of
it anyway. He had bought a rather large, hot, meal and thoroughly enjoyed it.
He's currently sitting and digesting. [192]
OOC Summary
Reich is..well...read.[193] [194]
---
Reichi examined the Dagger Of Senses carefully, it was in much much better
condition now than it had been after escaping Ald Sotha, good as new in fact.
Longhammer and the other Nords who worked for him never ceased to amaze Reichi.
He had gotten his armor and Bloodfang repaired as well, as Bloodfang's edge was
begining to dull, and his armor had a few nasty scratches and dents.
Finished with getting his stuff repaired, Reichi got himself a nice satchel and
paid a visit to the mages guild for some useful scrolls and potions, before
heading down to the Nymph and Noggin. [195]
OOC Summary:Vanyel is at the Nymph and Noggin, just recently having talked to
Kiseena for a second before going to do his own thing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vanyel had left Kiseena's table to get a drink, originally planning to return
and continue his conversation as before, albeit with something to drink, but he
was soon caught up in talking to a complete stranger. His conversation spanned
several minutes and he was almost sure his newest friend was thoroughly
enjoying his company (as well as the fact Vanyel was paying for the drinks),
despite the fact that his new comrade didn't seem to respond that much, rather
choosing to dig his head into whatever was in his mug. This didn't overtly
bother Vanyel too much however. Before long though, his new friend was a heap
of flesh on the floor, "Hmph, people are just so rude sometimes."
Vanyel attempted to register what he was doing beforehand, eventually
remembering his fellow acrobat Kis was here as well. Sure, he didn't talk to
her that often, but after a few months of throwing daggers back and fourth at
each other's heads and putting faith in each's ability(lest serious injuries
follow) he was sure that counted for a bit of trust at least.
Making his way to the table he turned to Anya, "I quite apologize for
leaving so rudely earlier, I don't know what came over me. I haven't had a
chance to properly introduce myself, even though Kis has already done me half
the favour, Vanyel Orseau at your service." He made a slight bow, but even
being slight it was somehow rather exagerrated in it's own way, his right arm
placed to his chest and his left leg lifting off the ground, as he tilted
himself slightly foward. He lifted himself back up and reached out his hand in
a friendly gesture. [196]
Slyvos popped his head into the entrance of the Nymph and Noggin, obviously curious as a cat. "ah, good, I'm not the only person here." The mage promptly took a seat a little bit away from where Anya and her newfound companions were, giving alittle wave. [197]

cold, but he gave it little measure. "A pleasure to meet you Miss, -or is
it Misses?- Anya. Discussing any business prospects with Kis? It's been rather
slow at the Arena lately. Vanyel is quite bored, and a bit low on income as
well."
Vanyel's reference to himself in the third person was a bit odd, but his mixing
of speech patterns seemed to come naturally. [207]

"Just Anya. Just sharing similar passions, Vanyel. The only
business prospects I tend to do are for the Duchess." Anya nodded her head
curtly, "Perhaps though, if money's tight, Ald Raathim always has need for
people how might be willing to stick their necks out."
Anya smiled when she saw Slyvos walk in, "If you'll excuse me for a
moment, Vanyel. Slyvos! It's good to see you here. I want to thank you for
working on my armor, it'll save me a lot of trouble."
[213]
Slyvos gave a small smile, looking towards Anya. "it wasn't a problem, gave me something to do other then worry about this whole war thing. But, I'm just glad I could help." He leaned back in his chair, sighing with a look of exhaustion on his face and staring up at the ceiling, before he learned that chairs are not for leaning back on, and him and the entire chair fell backwards. "gah..." [214]
Dar'Tessir was in a good mood. He hadn't had food of such quality or quantity of food in a very long time. He felt like talking, not his usual meathod of recreation. He looked around and saw the woodelf that had interrupted his reading a while ago along with a small group. He walked over, "Dar'Tessir greets y-" He was destracted by a falling Ohmes-Raht. He couldn't help laughing a little. He turned to the fallen khajiit, offering his hand, "Is the Ohmes well?" [215]

Shaka took a break from the fortifications and returned to the Nymph and Noggin
to eat. He managed to let concern for Slyvos win out over laughter.
"You all right, Sly?" he said as he carried a wooden platter of food
over to the table.
[220]
He shook his head a bit, as though to clear drowsiness, and looked to the two that asked about his wellbeing with a look that said 'what does it look like?' "I'll be fine, don't worry about me. Just got to consider myself lucky I wasn't drinking, or I'd have probably lost consciousness..." He got up by himself, looking aggitated again. "remind me never to do that again." [221]

said with a smile. [226]

Through the streets of the city he walked, looking around, smiling at the

The guard at the castle gate looks a touch uncomfortable as he says "One
moment; I will see if the Duchess is in ..."
"She's not; she's running around right this moment," the robed figure
of Loranna says as she walks up to the castle gate, the taste of mead still in
her mouth. She offers the guard a quick grin.
"Your Grace; may I present Pythus Angelicus, emissary of His Highness the
King," the guard says, without missing a beat; Loranna offers the blond
Royal Guardsman her hand.
"A pleasure, serjo; please forgive our hecticness today. What can I do for
you?" Loranna asks as the guard escorts them into the castle.[232]

Running, through the city, she had never run so fast in her life. Would they have sent scouts to inform them? She doubted it... But she knew nothing good would come from it... Maranda Skidded around the corner, and the castle wall was in sight... 'I need to speak to Loranna, NOW!' Maranda yelled, as the guard, recognizing her, informed her that Loranna was in her study, he was actually quite surprised at the tattyness of her clothes. Up the stairs she went and before long, the study door was before her... its unusual that I write twice in one day, but I have to, its that amazing...
As I left the carriage, I found myself in Tel Sigrid. This city was once held

Tower in which the city gets its name from. When did the city fall? Well I had
no time to contemplate this, I was lead straight to a tavern, where several
drunken men were toasting each other, I could remember clearly one of them
toasting, 'To Faryon, the commander who took the city without one fatality!”
And I saw the man sitting back enjoying his flin. I sat down next to him, and
got him to explain to me what happened. He was not very open about how he
managed to do it with so little damage to the city itself, I think he was too
drunk. I did catch something about the arrival of the Tribune, Ayem, and her
summoning of a massive army to destroy Ald Raatham... and thats all I got out
of him before he passed out. Really, Dunmer have no tolerance to alcohol!

QUOTE(Shardie @ Jan 4 2006, 10:00 PM)
[304] Running, through the city, she had never run so fast in her life. She burst in to find Loranna conversing with a man she did not know and Slashes, 'Tel Sigrid, has fallen!' she panted, 'A massive army is heading this way right NOW they are right on my tail!'
[306]
"Commander," Loranna starts to say, when Maranda literally bursts
into her office.
Loranna stares with wide eyes for a second, then moves to cast restorative
magic on Maranda. "Maranda ... dear, I need you to tell us everything you
can about this army ..."
She looks to the others, her teeth grinding together a bit. Even in her most
gloomy predictions, she hadn't thought the enemy would move this fast ... [307]

Kethiah stepped into the office a moment later, panting, holding her belly. She
looked angry. The damned thing was slowing her down ...
Then she looked at the faces in the room.
"You have heard already," she said. "I am sorry I could not tell
you before, but they couldn't find me ... At least I can corroborate. The flag
of the Redoran is flying over Tel Silgrid again."
Pythus could be seen whispering. Talking to his master, the King.[312]

[319] A few minutes later,
Kethiah came running down the stairs, nearly falling. Her face was pale.
"We're in trouble," she whispered to Isidor. "I'll be right

She ran through the city streets towards the castle.
[321]
"We're always in trouble." Isidor said, with a grimace. He made his

he waved her over. [322]

"The day we've been dreading has come," Loranna says, straightening
her back. "And our enemy bears machines of war like no other ...
Commanders, ready your troops. Get our scouts out to confirm the approach of
the enemy. Kethiah, Kallen, sound the alarm bells; get every civilian into the
castle or the forts, just like we drilled these many months."
Loranna calls for a servant to warn Magister Zadion of the approaching threat,
the business of doing helping to keep her nerves steady. They'd been preparing
for an attack all along, after all; they could get through this ...
"Alert the harbormasters and the captains; if the unthinkable happens the
sea is our main avenue of escape," she says, forcing herself not to think
on the one main fact: They had never seen anything like these crabs before ...
Was that a faint tremor she felt through the floor? No, that was her nerves;
she places a hand over her belly, whispering quietly to her baby as she
prepares to direct the defenses of the city.[328]

Maranda, seeing as she was no longer needed, made her way out of the castle to the temple. In the city, Egalius Soccitus moves his slightly pudgy self to the nearest fort

Vvardenfell
Kratos stood next to his son, bloody corpses and hulking piles of scavenged
chunks of metal lay about the north plain of Molag Mar. A very fierce battle
had been fought there that day, one that had almost ended all hope of victory
for the Muatramer.
The Grandmaster's armor was completely dented all over, blood and shards of
metal decorating it.
Ivelaes was in no better shape, he had two arrows protruding from his back and
a small, metal claw stuck in his helm, luckily causing him no serious damage.
The healer approaced him, pulling the arrows out and drowning him in a wave of
blue light.
One look and any who had been at the previous battle for Molag Mar would notice
that this time around it was ten times worse than before: The inner and outer
walls had been made into rubble, the canton almost looked like it was about to
sink into the ocean.
The Muatramer had suffered heavy losses, far heavier than the previous battle.
Kratos had lost at least a third of his men in the ferocious combat.
Telasero had been abandoned; Kratos saw it was a futile effort to try and hold
it. He recalled his Muatramer back to Molag Mar, he needed every man that was
under his command to fight, and hold headquarters.
The Shrines the Muatramer and Anya fought for were completely lost; there was
no way they could have defended them in enemy territory.
The Grandmaster and his son, healed now, had begun working with the remnants of
their forces, putting metal and dead bodies into piles.
They couldn't stand up to another attack from a force like that again, they had
barely pulled through. The Muatramer Fire weapons that the Temple scientists
had created proved very effective, again, but the victory came from the
strength of soul and will that the Temple servants possesed.
"Almsivi save Morrowind." Said Kratos, dragging one of his dead
soldier's bodies to the pile.

“You jest, commander, I am barely able to lift a sword. I cannot fight,” Arynel
answered, “the battles I leave for those better than I.”
“But war has come to Morrowind,” the Breton continued, “and it is even now at
our doorstep. I would give you my words to give to the Muatramer, if you will
play the messenger.”[397]
In the office, Reeds
heard the pealing of the alarm bells going off. Innately, he knew that was no
drill.
"alright!" He shouted to the clerks going about their duties, "I
want everything we can't afford to lose up to the castle YESTERDAY! Everything
else we leave here, then attend to your families!" Reeds pulled a small
amulet of fireball over his head. It had four charges, enough to set the entire
quartermaster office ablaze should the need arise.
As his clerks staggered up to the castle with the most important material,
Reeds strapped on his sword and headed for the courtyard. [398]

"Had this funny
feeling this was gonna happen," Reichi muttered, slamming down his mug and
grabbing his helmet. He brought the dull silver helmet down over his head,
hiding his face behind the unmoving metal one that formed the faceplate of the
helmet. The Dunmer hurried outside, Bloodfang already drawn. Reichi rushed onto
the walls of Castle Daruhn. He had little skill with marksman weapons that
weren't darts, or throwings stars/knives, but he wanted to watch the battle
until, if it managed to, came inside the castle walls.
Well, if some archer dies near me, I'll take his bow and arrow and see if my

OOC: Out for the night. [420]
Gladro dug into his
bag and took out a oddly shaped armor. It was his father's and just as trying
to Gladro's patience as the memory. It was too sturdy not to be used, however.
Gladro then shined his dwemmer axe and doned his armor.
"If there is war, there is death. Let it be embraced for the strong and
protected against by the weak.", Gladro said unremarkably. [421]
Shaka stood on one of
the outer walls of the city and waited. Around him, the regular soldiers were
hurrying into position, and readying the catapults and ballistas.
We're not ready, he reflected. Everyone thought we had weeks, perhaps; and even
then maybe the major cities would catch it before we did. But Ald Raathim
counts as a city these days, and a strategic one at that.
Shaka held the Spear of Bitter Mercy, still in its leather sheath for now. His
right arm for the last twenty years, and it would stand with him until the end.
Then the daedra would take it back. Shaka wondered briefly who would wield the
Spear when he was gone; male, female, dunmer, n'wah, whoever.
He had had most of a year in Daruhn, after you subtracted the time wasted in
Black Marsh; the most intense year of his life and maybe the best. No regrets.
Well, maybe that he wouldn't have a life with a woman by his side after all.
But Shaka didn't intend to make it easy for the warrior Houses. [422]

[453] QUOTE(SpartanShea117 @ Jan 4 2006, 09:12 PM)
[454] Kratos glanced at the
dead Muatramer's bodies in the pile.
"I can guarantee that myself and my men would do anything, fight and die
for the sake of Morrowind and Almsivi." Kratos stated.
[456]
“You may find time to see if that is true,” Arynel said, nodding to Teras also,
“I urge you and those under you not play as fools of fear. Those who fall will
only be better able to serve their ancestors in the future.”
“Take this, and ALMSIVI be with you in this time,” the Breton said, fishing a
sheet of parchment out of his pocket and handing it to Kratos.
This is what it said.
The Scripture of the Sword, First:
'The sword, treated as a delicate meal, is the Symbolic Collage. It serves you
well in the first half of life. Name one dynasty that knows this not.'
Second:
'The unity of my approach is understood by the immobile warrior. True eyes are
acquired. Rejoice as my own subjects and realms. I build for you a city of
swords, by which I mean laws that cut the people who live there into better
shapes.'
Third:
'Girls burn their dresses on my arrival if I am armored. They crawl to me as
bled pilgrims. Minor spirits die without trace. Follow me of all the ALMSIVI if
you are to mark your days with killing. AE ALTADOON, the third law of
weaponry.'
Fourth:
'The immobile warrior is never fatigued. He cuts sleep holes in the middle of a
battle to regain his strength.'
Fifth:
'Instinct is not reflex action, but mini-miracles held in reserve. I am the
welfare that decides which warrior will emerge. Beg not for luck. Serve me to
win.'
Sixth:
'The span of the apparently inactivated is your love of the absolute. The birth
of God from the netchiman's wife is the abortion of kindness from love.'
Seventh:
'The true sword is able to cut chains of generations, which is to say, the
creation myths of your enemies. Look on me as the exiled garden. All else is
uncut weed.'
Eighth:
'I give you an ancient road tempered by the second walking way. Your hands must
be huge to wield any sword the size of an ancient road, and yet he who is of
right stature may irritate the sun with only a stick.'
The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Ald Raathim,
Loranna's study
There was a knock at the door of Loranna's study, and before anyone could
answer it, Nalion stepped into the room, scrolls in his hand. Dark rings framed
his eyes, he obviously hadn't slept at all.
"I came as soon as I heard the alarm bells. So it has begun, yes? These
bells can only mean one thing. The enemy will be here soon...", he stated,
his voice tired, but with determination.[458]

yet."
The office was somewhat more quiet than it was a moment ago; Loranna found
herslef thinking of last night, her conversations with Anya and Nalion, and
Slyvos as well.
... Dibella, my home ... she thinks, tears coming to her eyes. Our

Kethiah said. "Your Grace, the gossip will be spreading soon. The people
will need a post from you about what is happening, and what they should do. The
children know how to defend themselves, and what to do in case of trouble,
Dragon and I have seen to that, but if you will write a notice, I will be post

Kethiah waited for Loranna to compose the post, and then hurried off to put it

[465] Dar'Tessir, wanted to help. It seemed Anya was taking the acrobat with her, maybe she needed more help, he decided to wait for her to get back. He didn't have to worry about getting anything, he always carried all his belongings.
[467]
Anya was on her way to Slashes-With-Claws, when she noticed Dar'Tessir
loitering in the tavern. "Dar'Tessir, right? It's been a little bit since
we talked. Look, if you're needing something to do, I'm taking some people out
with me. Just make sure to have some sort of Recall on you."
*****
Lotus wheeled high in the air, clacking his beak. At this height, it was easy
to see the advancing army. He didn't have much of a concept of numbers, but
Lotus recognized a threat to territory well enough.
Lotus turned lazily in the air to let Anya know what her saw. He,
unfortunately, didn't take notice of the small advance force the enemy had sent,
until it was too late.
Anya was waiting with the small force of scouts. Their orders were simple, do
whatever they could to damage the enemy force. She was balancing a knife by
it's point, preoccupying herself. Anya's eyes went wide when she heard a soft
thunk, and turned her head to see a arrow quivering in the tree she was leaning
on. "Oh boy..."
Anya turned, seeing the small scouts charging after them, trying to snipe her
group as well, "By the Nine, get out of their line of sight! Keep your
eyes, don't let any fall back to warn the main force."
It was too late though, several of the scouts had broken off and began to make
their way back. Anya cursed loudly, "Keep ready, I'll get those few."
She quickly cast Invisible and sprinted after those that had broken off.
By that time, the main body of the Redoran and Indoril scout force had reached
the area that they had set up for the ambush. Leading were several dunmer with
their longswords drawn, bucklers ready. Several mages were already warming up a
few spells, and the archers stayed with them. All of them were lightly armored,
They nearly matched the Ald Raathim force one to one.[468]
Once Kiseena reached
the Ald Raathim Arena, she did her best to enter it somewhere other than
ground-level. She was in no mood to waste time by working against a possible
sea of people all with their own tasks at hand. She found her way to her room
there and began pulling on her chitin armor as fast as her paws allowed.
"Sweet Mother, let friend Anya still be there when Kiseena returns,"
she thought. She checked the two silver daggers into their ankle-sheaths, made
sure her quiver was full of arrows and left once more.
Her heartbeat was loud in her ears as she bounded from the arena's wall, using
nearby rooftops to hasten her travel. When she made it there, she shouldered
her way into the tavern. Her eyes moved quickly all over to find Anya, but...
she was nowhere to be found.
"Curse Kiseena's feet and legs," the khajiit whispered. [469]

Dar'Tessir sent a fireball in the enemies' direction while he ran off to the

The Grandmaster looked over the carnage once more, noting the fortitude and
resilience of the faithful servants. He was proud of them, how they didn't let
their emotions take control, how calm, and agile they seemed after the heat of

Reichi had joined the small scout force, after deciding the walls really weren't a good position for him. He drew his dagger and shortsword, charging at the Redoran and Indoril scout force. He let loose a furious barrage of blows on the first enemy he saw. "Die rebel scum!" [480]

The bulliten reads:
My friends, this is not a drill; the enemy marches upon Ald Raathim. The war
has reached our borders at last.
All able-bodied souls, report to the barracks to be issued arms and armor, and
to receive your orders. Children, seniors, and non-combatants, report to the
castle or the nearest fort for shelter from the imminent battle.
By the grace of Nine and Three, we will show these rebels the soul of Ald

Looking up from her just-finished bulliten, Loranna answers Nalion. "It's
begun; already our scouts are flying forth to see the shape of the enemy ...
but the crab abominations come."
She reaches into her robe an produces a potion. "For your stamina, dear
..."[496]
Anya finds several
frostballs streaking toward her - or, rather, toward Reichi and the other
members of the scout team, but Anya happens to be in the way.
A particularly wry-looking Dunmer bears his teeth as he whips out a short sword
and a dagger and fences with Reichi, his long limbs flashing in the air as he
dances in a web of steel.
Dar'Tessir's magic splashes into a couple of scouts, causing yelps of pain and
anger. Arrows screechthrough the air in the direction he was last seen in.
Kilseena, and indeed everyone in the scout party and still out in Ald Raathim,
can now feel it - a low, rhythmic rumbling from the earth, the pounding of many
metalic feet marching ineroxibly toward the city.
In the castle, Loranna looks to her friends; she know this time, it wasn't her
nerves.[497]

He placed the scrolls onto Loranna's table, then pulled out two other scrolls

"These two are protecive scrolls, shields, in fact. For you, and the heir

Dar'Tessir quaffs two potions, one to replenish his magicka and the other to
fortify his willpower. He decides to use a favorite spell of his to help the
others. He casts and a green ball flies from behind the tree, connects with an
enemy soldier and bursts into a large green plume. About 10 of the enemy find
it suddenly harder to see.
Dar'Tessir laughs as two stumble into eachother. To himself he wonders What
causes the earth to shake in such a way? [507]
Anya easily dodge the
frost spells, since none were aimed directly at her. The distance was rapidly
closing between her and the few attempting to warn the army of her team.
Anya shimmered into view, after several throwing daggers left her hand. Anya
pulled out her spear in a quick twirl, holding it by her side at the ready till
the precious seconds passed and she would close the gap.
Her eyes were locked on her prey, glowing brightly in the distinctive sheen of
a vampire. She had lost concentration with the thought of prey in front of her.
Her last passing that was that she supposed it was a good thing she seperated
from the main body. [508]

Kiseena squirmed in worry as she felt the rumbling. Her tail frizzed out
somewhat, and she bounded her way quick as she could to the nearest section of
wall. Even if her arrows couldn't deal with what was coming, she still would
rather see it than not.
With hardly a sound except for the chitin-on-chitin of her armor, Kiseena
landed near Shaka. She glanced at the argonian a moment before setting her

"Kiseena does not like this feeling," the khajiit breathed. [528]
Dar'Tessir's blind

Anya hears a gravely voice growl "So the rumors of Dres cavorting with

Then, after a pause... "The situation is graver than I already feared

It was visible to Loranna that Nalion was more than just worried now. The mage

"I will do what I can." [539]
Anya took the brunt of
the fire spells, squinting her eyes. All they did was elevate the pain she was

enchantment barely contained the damage, contending with the damage from the

[censored] of that Dibellan harlot! Cut off her head; we'll throw it into their
castle's tower!" The Dunmer strike like a rabid pack of wolves whipped
into a frenzy ...
Reichi feels arrows grazing his sides and arms as he sinks Bloodfang into his
opponent's chest, the glassy-eyed stare of the lean-limbed scout showing surprise
at the very end. The daedric weapon draws the lifeblood out the dying Dunmer
out, healing some of Reichi's wounds - but not all of them, and while there are
fewer arrows falling now, Reichi can see mages raising their hands to blast
him.
Dar'Tessir himself has two spearmen coming at him; one is frozen in place by
his magic, but the second resists the green ball of paralysis and grabs at an
amulet around his neck. "May your bones break, slave!" the spearman
roars, a Bonebiter charm being hurled at the Khajiit as the Dunmer's spear
seeks Dar'Tessir's neck.

Anya then. . . . Kiseena, right? I met you
briefly in the tavern."
Shaka leaned the Spear against the battlement for a minute. There was no
way he could tell Kiseena about Anya's vampirism, not yet. "I see
you've hit it off with her already. She caught my eye quickly too, back
on the Bitter Coast. Long story, Loranna's company of adventurers was . .
. raising funds on Vvardenfell, and Anya fell in with us. The bosmer's
one of a kind, all right."

Kiseena nodded when Shaka asked her name. She tried to keep her eyes on the
argonian, but kept finding them drawn toward the world outside the city walls.
"Friend Anya is the first to be so nice to Kiseena in quite some
time," she said softly. "If Kiseena had been more fleet of footpaw,
perhaps Kiseena would be with Anya now, wherever Anya-"
She ducked as an arrow or two shot past where her head had been. A growl
rumbled through her throat as surprise took the bow from her back, knocked and
arrow and anger looked for some soft, fleshy targets in the air. [566]

Cursing, Shaka grabbed the Spear and unsheathed it. The cry went up and down
the line of defenders: "Incoming!"
The Dragonbone Cuirass protected Shaka wholly from the flames, and he tried to
shield Kissena as well. The battlemage began hurling fireballs at the war
parraptons. Ballistae thrummed and quarrels whistled through the air, joined by
the arrows of the archers.
OOC: out until tomorrow.[572]
Anya snarled in rage
at the Redorans, "I said shut up!"
As the Redorans attempted to surround Anya, the exposed their backs to the rest
of her scout team. Quickly, the set upon them, hacking away, and diverting some
of the Redoran's attention.
Anya used this to her advantage. She quickly shaped her claws, tipping the last
third of her fingers, wicked, hooked daggers. She punched the nearest scout's
abdomen, breaking the armor. She pulled her arm back, her hand covered in his
blood. The scent quickly rose to her nose, and her pupils narrowed.
Sweeping her spear in a close arc, she tried to make create some berth for her.
She focused her attention on the commander, spouting a quick, cackling laugh,
"Let us see you shout those obsenities again, cattle." [573]

"Dar'Tessir is no slave jekosiit!" Growled the Khajiit. Less than a
second later he was floored, every bone in his body hurt as if being pressed by
massive vices. His fall caused the dunmer's spear to miss its mark, clipping
his ear. Through the pain he just managed to grab the haft of the spear and
stand up inside of the business end. [583]
The Redoran Anya
gutted falls over, his expression one of horror mixed with holy rage; the
commander gets a worried look in his eye as he swings his Dwemer blade to block
her spear, not noticing that many of his men were getting shot in the back by
Anya's scout team.
Reichi's meat shield gets blown to bits by a shockball, viscera and blood
nearly blinding him - but he was close enough to the mages to lash out at them.
Dar'Tessir sees the spear looming over his heart, plunging own ... and then
with a scream, the Redoran falls to the side, dead, one of Anya's scouts having
tackled him and sunk a steel dagger into his throat.
"Watch yourself now cat," the Dunmer says to Dar'Tessir, holding out
a hand. "It's slippery out here - and going to get a lot worse." He
points to the horizen, where the shapes of the lumbering crabs can be seen
towering over the main Redoran army. "Those bastards'll be on the city in

Shai snapped out of

She found the scouting mostly underway already, but went up onto the walls and
helped out there. If the walls were breached she would be ready. [585]
Anya charge the
commander, ignoring the other scouts and their holy vengence. Her team was able
to keep most of their assualt off of her, though she was still harried.
Anya attacked the commander with a series of moves, ending with her locking the
blade between the two blades of her dwemer halberd head. She drove the blade
towards the ground, freeing herself and diverting the commander.
Anya cast Invisible, but moments later shimmered into directing behind the
commander. Her hands were vice grips along his head and shoulder, opening up
his neck. She opened her mouth wide, savoring the smell. "This [censored]

accelerated rate, feeling estatic. [586]

[595]
Dar'Tessir stood up with difficulty and thanked the Dark Elf, though he
despised being called "cat." He was still in pain, though not as much
as when the enchantment had hit. Dar'Tessir limped over to the spearman's
corpse and took his bonebiter amulet, he wouldn't need it anymore. He waved to
the groups healer, "Dar'Tessir was hit by bonebiter!" The healer
threw a blue stream of light towards him and he was bathed in a blue glow. It
was a great feeling of relief. Dar'Tessir turned his attention to the horizon
and stood transfixed for a moment, "Nine!" A lightning ball exploded
near him and he turned to throw a frostball at the mage who sent it and
reentered the fray.[596]
The scouts fighting
around Anya and the screaming Redoran commander are pelted by magic and arrows,
or fighting for their lives - though, out of the corner of her eye, Anya thinks
she sees one of her own people staring at her with a shocked expression on her
face.
Reichi gets a hand, and a scream, for his efforts; he also earns himself
several curses, both mundane and magical.
The Redorans however are being mopped up - but by now the earth is shaking
quite noticably, and Anya's scouts are looking worried. The crabs and their
attendant soldiers and machines are drawing ever closer to Ald Raathim, a
seemingly endless river of yellow pouring toward their home.[597]
Dynate stood on the
battelfield, he just looked down with cold eyes at the body of a dead High Elf
scout.
He was a friend of his, he was the one he talked to at the wedding after him
and Anya finished speaking.
They where both in the same group of friends at the barracks.
He wasnt here long, and friendly relationships where crucial in new places.
Dynate didnt move, he could only stare at the face of his friend, as the breese
swept past his short hair.
Dynate looked up at the sky, he renembered one day back...
He was building up the defences, pounding on wood for hours, when he got back
to the camp, he made a few sparring rounds, before being called to the
courtyard by Slashes.
He told them the war was finally uppon them, all the preperation they had done
was going to be put to the test.
After praying heavily, he became pretty quite that night, no one was reeally in
th mood for talking when there told, tomarrow there number could be up.
Especially the scouts, they where the first ones sent out in battle to check
the enemys numbers and locations.
He would be called on the next day no doubt, he just hoped he would be able to
see the end of it.
After the fatigue and healing potions got drunken down to stop the swelling and
the exaustion for tomarrow, Dynate collapsed on his bed, and was waken the next
day to the loud sounds of yelling in the barracks. The bells where sounding,
they where hear, Dynate lept out of his bunk, dressed himself in a pair of
pants and shirt. He began to equipt the new armor.
He looked at the more lighter weight scout armour now placed in the chest by
his bunk.
No more heavy recruit armour.
He equipt himself head to toe quik as possipal, there was no time to marvel at
thenew armor, it was time to take it to those who opposse the empire, and to
fight for thewonderful city he had quikly grown aquianted with.
He placed the helmet over his eyes, he was equipt, he was finally there... a
soldier in the Ald Rathim army.
Something green cought his eye when he was closing the crate.
He pulled out, a finely woven Nordic Amadent Shortsword.
The intricasy of the welding made it a work of art.
Green and grey covered the swords.
He would need to find an equally fine short sword to accompany this one, for
now he pulled out one of the dwarven artifacts he had bought, the shortsword
weighed about as much as the Amadent one.
Time was wasting, Dynate sheithed the swords, grabbed his new wooden long bow,
and quiver from the weapons rack, and marched out.
They where filed into scouting groups, Dynate saw that woman Anya go off with
one party, but he had to focus, they where at the gate and about to be released
onto land where they could be killed by thousands of enemy soldiers, and worst
of all, they had to go tword the army.
Dyn was in a rather large group, they had walked about a mile before the sounds
of arrows whizzing by caught there ear.
Seventeen soldiers dropped to the ground, some dead, others maimed.
It was an amubush.
From the bushes to the right, dozens of redoran charged forward taking the
group by surprise.
The scouts loaded there bows, and had time to give off two volleys before the
redoran got in close range.
The redoran had picked an incredible hiding spot, and probably would of killed
off the entire scouting group if they where closer, the redorans made a mistake
by charging around fifty feet away.
It gave time for the recently trained to the bone scouts to let off on them.
fifteen redoran where killed because of there mistake to charge at that range.
When the redoran got close they had been running downhill, with that increase
of velocity, they where be able to bash into the frontline at a powerful force.
Soon the ranks where broken, and the battle became one huge furray off
assorated fighting.
Bonemold and steel clashed against one another.
Dynate who had stayed in a small cluster of scouts shooting arrows from the
side of the battle at opponents where getting charged at from the left flank.
Dyn drew his swords, and with the small cluster charged back tword the other
cluster.
The man next to Dyn took a spell to the face, while a man behind him was
tackeled and stabbed.
Dynate heard his screams for his mother, and Dyn's thoughts went back to his
mother back home for a moment.
Before they went to the redguard whos eyeslit on his helmet was penatrated by
the blade of Dyn's new toy. That made 6 kills for him,
he saw a redoran flag carrier run a soldier threw.
Dynate ran behind him, and slit his throat. than sliced the flag off the pole
as a trophy.
The battle raged on, thanks to a few well placed concentrated attacks the scout
groupwas able to finish off the remainder off the Redoran.
And thats what brings us to the present time.
Dynate finding his friend dead, but how many other friends of someone else
where on this field of battle? How many fathers? sons? daughters? or mothers?
whom had a family they couldnt go home too.
Instead of seeing his kids grow up, the flag carrier was bleeding to death,
face first in mud.
The scouting group pressed back to camp, they had injured in need of treatment
NOW.

making up for that, if theres anything in here that was wrong, let me know, i
tried hard too make it work best i could) [598]
Anya pushed hard on
the commanders neck, hearing the distinct crack of the neck as he went limp,
Anya let him drop to the ground. Anya was able to compose herself, from the
slight elation from the feeding. She was still quivering, however.
Anya wiped her mouth and turned to turned to her troops, "Close those
mouths, what do you expect from a wood elf. Clean yourselves up, and move these
bodies out of sight. Now."
Lotus floated done, clacking warily. Anya turned to him, "About damn time
you showed up. ... That's a good bunch of troops. How many were there? A lot?
That helps. At least how many constructs are there? Well, how many of yoiur kin
would it take to drive them back? What kind of answers is 'Enough'?"
Anya held her seemingly one-sided converstion for a little longer, until
finally gleening the information she needed. Anya turned back to the team,
"There's roughly 30 of these constructs with the main body, and hundreds
times more soldiers. Unless the rarest of opportunities presents itself, we
can't do much.
"What we will do is wait for them. When they get close enough, kill all
you can from a range. It shouldn't take any measure of accuracy needed, with an
army that size. Get a bow from a dead Redoran if you need, collect as much ammo
as you can. When we've done all we could, we'll Recall. Everyone should have
gotten an Amulet of Recall if they didn't already have the spell or another
amulet."
As the team went to work, Anya walked over to Reichi, her body still quivering,
her pupils still narrow. "It's harder than it looks to control." she
whispered. [599]
Reichi nodded as he picked up a bow and a quiver of arrows, his own blades sheathed. "It is indeed," he said. "Its like forcing oneself to breath water instead of air. Or somesuch." [600]

before all's said and done."[605]

"Hah. We'll see. At the very least, moving people out of the way would be
a good idea." Anya said, winking, "Hopefully, I wouldn't be crazed
enough to actually charge their army on my on or some such thing."[611]
Commander
Slashes-With-Claws stood upon the wall, he had equiped himself for battle as
well. Numerous potions of healing and magicka restoration hungon his his belt,
along with several steel throwing knives and the glass poison dagger. On his
back was his dwarven claymore and a quiver of arrows. In his hands was a
bonemold longbow, notched and aiming at one of the bugs that swarmed overhead,
raining fire down on his men. He called out orders as he fired. "Archers!
Open fire! Mages! Fire resistance, now! Mele fighters! Get under cover, and
help put out those fires! We do not want the whole city to go up in
flames!" When the mian force hit, he planned, the mele fighteres would be
used for stop gaps, incase the enemy breached the walls, to go out and meet
them would be suicide.
Meanwhile, Jei-Set waited with Anya to ambush the approaching army. His chitin
armor was already damaged and spattered with blood, both his and enemies. He
had drunken a healing potion and was ready. His dwarven halberd had claimed the
lives of at least two of the Redorans. He brought a chemelion spell to mind,
ready to conceal himself when the time came. [612]

"Allright, allright, no need to scream!" said Morteus and departed
quickly before his commander could answer.
Where to get a bow.
Bow racks were all empty, or with broken bows. Morteus searched for dead archer
bodies, and he found one near the outter side of the wall. His bow was light,
altough inaccurate. He picked up some arrows and ran up on the wall again.
Shooting with bow was not his style, altough he had some experiences. A rain of
arrow fell on the wall and Morteus was almost hit, so he had sticked closely to
the wall and aimed at one of the flying beasts. [623]
Dastril felt something
cold touch his back. He woke up with a shudder, and sending Greebo from his
chest down tumbling. Greebo hadn't expected this when he had lept from his side
to his chest to try the stare trick. Dastril popped his ear plugs from his
ears. It was hard to sleep in a city's noises.
A grumble could be heard from the floor. "What?! An attack? Where? Who?
How?" Dastril's questions were answered by a brief growl.
Dastril did as he was bid, and listened to the sounds of the town. Instead of
the usual background noise, consisting of distant talk, laughter, music, bells
and the sounds of walking, his ears met unusual silence, broken by random
screams and shouts. He smelled smoke on the air.
He rushed to the window and opened it. His expression was grim when his eyes
met the sight. He slowly closed the window again.
Dastril walked calmly to the drawer, and started unloading his items. A
necklace filled with minor enchantment rings, to his neck for use when needed,
a small potion bag with healing and mana restore potions, his sword and shield,
his blood-red cloak and his wooden armor painted with the same color.
"Oh, I almost forgot this one." He pulled out a collar from a small
pouch. It was decorated with silver, and it gleamed of an enchantment.
"This was meant for your graduation, but this time is a better time for
it. It contains a long-lasting chameleon spell, so you'll remain better hidden
in battle." He attached the collar to Greebo's neck. Greebo thanked him
with few syllables.
Greebo spoke. "Oh, I think you're right, we should be going now."
Dastril looked into the alfiq's eyes. "Go around and heal people. Fight
only if you have to, you aren't yet very good with those destruction spells. If
you need me, I'll be at the walls. Now, let's go." He awkwardly patted
Greebo's head, and opened the door for him. The alfiq stalked past him, melting
into the shadows as he went.
Dastril walked down the stairs calmly and opened the front door to the chaos.
It took him a little while to walk to the walls, but he used his time well to
observe. There was some strange, large wasp-like flying above the city. Every
once in a while, it seemed to him, they dropped something. It usually resulted
some fires.
He saw one approaching above the houses. It was smaller than some that he saw
flying around. He launched a fireball against it, just to see it's effects. It missed.
The beasts were faster than he had thought. It flew almost above him and
continued to the other side of the city, where a lucky arrow caught it and
brought it down crashing.
He continued his walk to the walls. [624]
By now, the invading
army was clearly visible, in all its glory - the flights of parraptons darting
overhead, unleashing spells, spears, and bombs to harass the defenders of Ald
Raathim and attack their engines of war, the chanting hordes of Redoran soldiers
charging forward with holy zeal blazing in their red eyes, the clanking,
not-quite-right loping of long-necked metallic beasts and the chittering claws
and swaying stingers of hulking metal scorpions that trundled forward.
Unearthly screams pierced the air as Daedra of all sorts were summoned.
And in the back, looming over everything ... giant emperor crabs of gleaming
metal, sporting claws that could snap three people in half in a single pinch,
each step they took shaking the earth ...
The people of Ald Raathim were a hardy bunch; they had fought the Azurites and
won when no one else had, they had faced the rebel Redoran before at Tel Sigrid
and Molag Mar and beat back their frenzied assaults. However, the sight of the
earth-shaking emperor crabs, invulnerable and implaccable, slowly marching
forward amid a sea of murderous soldiers and metallic beasts, was more than
anything the people of Ald Raathim had faced before. Many defenders fell,
struck down by arrows or spells, simply because the mere sight of the
approaching house-sized crab machines struck them dumb and flat-footed upon the
first sight ...
Battle was well and truly joined now; the walls of the outer city shudered with
the force of the yellow tide that was crashing against them. And though the
walls held for the moment, everyone knew that it was only a matter of time
before those monstrosities got in close, and those huge, gleaming pincers tore
into the walls and reduced them to rubble, and then turned on their shops,
their temples, their homes and their flesh ...

Anya watched the large
body of troops continue foward, safely hidden from their view. She clenched her
fists tightly, fustrated. She waited long enough, more than some would like,
for the force to start to pass her team. Meanwhile, she was watching all the
types of troops that intermingled. There was no way to even reach their
fabricants, large or small.
She raised her hand slightly, and dropped it, a signal for her team to open
fire. Aiming wasn't as big a concern as just firing as many projectiles as
possible. Hundreds of arrows were shot before the Redoran forces sent a task
force to elminate them. Anya shouted the order to recall. She waited until all
her team was gone before she activated her amulet. A wave of arrows thudded
into the ground were moments before the team had stood.

Anya appeared back in Ald Raathim. The massive army was already in view. She
cursed loudly as she left to restock her supply of arrows and throwing weapons.
She wasn't sure how many soldiers she had killed, but everyone that died out
there meant the defenders of Ald Raathim could kill someone new. [636]

won when no one else had, they had faced the rebel Redoran before at Tel Sigrid
and Molag Mar and beat back their frenzied assaults. However, the sight
of the earth-shaking emperor crabs, invulnerable and implaccable, slowly
marching forward amid a sea of murderous soldiers and metallic beasts, was more
than anything the people of Ald Raathim had faced before. Many defenders
fell, struck down by arrows or spells, simply because the mere sight of the
approaching house-sized crab machines struck them dumb and flat-footed upon the
first sight ...
[640]
Commander Slashes-With-Claws lookd at the crabs, his outward appearance
sugested calm and composure, but his real fealing were of concearn and worry.
He had never seen anything like teh crabs that marched towards them now. The
smell of blood and thrill of combat drove Slashes' predatorial instincts wild,
his eyes looked like those of a wild beast, and when he spoke his voice had
more growl to it than normal. The crabs were still well out of range, he called
out to his men, rearranging formations, moving almost all the archers and mages
to the west wall. They fired at both buzzing bug and marching mer. He
instructed the mages not to use fire because of the dunmer resistance to fire.[641]
QUOTE
[642] Anya watched the large
body of troops continue foward, safely hidden from their view.
A wave of arrows thudded
into the ground were moments before the team had stood.[643]
[644]
Jei-Set opened fire with his bow, letting lose a constant swarm of arrows,
kiling many enemies. At the signal he recalled and went to the walls to help
hold the city. [645]
[646] QUOTE(Loranna @ Jan 5 2006, 01:36 PM)
[647] Battle was well and truly joined now; the walls of the outer city shudered with the force of the yellow tide that was crashing against them. And though the walls held for the moment, everyone knew that it was only a matter of time before those monstrosities got in close, and those huge, gleaming pincers tore into the walls and reduced them to rubble, and then turned on their shops, their temples, their homes and their flesh ...
[649]
Shaka had been stunned like everyone else by the sight. I can't believe they're
committing so many forces against a city of traders, he thought. This isn't
Mournhold . . . . But the warrior Houses must have launched an all-out
offensive against the province of Morrowind.
Near Shaka, anti-air ballistas swivelled, trying to lead their targets, the
parraptons, many of whom were too fast to be struck. Area-effect spells had a
little more success.
The mangonel and catapult soldiers worked on, feverishly. The crablike walkers
were the toughest targets, seemingly invulnerable; but they could plow furrows
through the ranks of smaller fabricants and soldiers near them.
With his scrollcase and memory, Shaka hurled spell after spell at the enemy:
frost, shock, fire. He tried to cast shielding spells at the nearby defenders
as well. This was Molag Mar all over again, but on an unimaginably larger
scale. The fighting would be hand-to-hand before they were done, no doubt . . .
.
Where are you, Anya, he wondered for a moment. If anyone could land on her
feet, that rogue would. [650]
The royal army, such as it was in the two small garrisons west of the village of Ald Raathim, also fell back to the walls. They had taken heavy losses already, but one could look in the eyes of every soldier and see they would fight to the death. [651]
Slyvos paced around
Loranna's office, in one of the spots not taken up by the rush of people and
messengers, a look of disgust on his face from the entire situation. "Let
us just hope, that they do not make it to the castle proper.. for all our
sakes." He left the room, the people around him giving him a wide berth as
he hefted the mace back up over his shoulder.
The khajiit mage just stood there, silently a few feet in front of the main
entrance to the castle, waiting for the inevitable breaking of that door... [652]
Dastril stood at the
top of the wall. He could see the hostile army now. He raised his eyebrow at
the emperor crabs. "Strange..." He aimed a parrapton carefully, and
launched a lightning bolt against it. It almost missed, but then hitted the
wing of the parrapton, sending it down tumbling.
Dastril smiled, and then sighed, letting the smile fade away from his face. He
could see that the enemies outnumbered the defenders badly. Dastril attached
his attention on the enemy ground units. In some point the battle would go to
melee. And he most likely would be amongst the battles. He chose another two
rings from his necklace. There was only six rings left after this. He wore
those rings and sent two bolts to a singular targets. During some while, they
would get weaker in health and strenght, and he would heal better and get
stronger. That would have to be enough. [653]
Dar'Tessir threw two shock spells, choosing ones that did more damage at the expense of area effect. On the signal to recall he cast and failed once but succeded the second time.
~~~~~
Dar'Tessir appeared in the Nymph, it was empty. Dar'Tessir could hear the
sounds of Ald Raathim's residents and soldiers running and yelling outside. He
drank a magicka potion, he was beginning to run low, but he was sure he would
be able to find more. With that Dar'Tessir walked out into the nearly deserted
city, the fighters and mages up on the walls and the old and young in safe
places. Dar'Tessir began to walk the streets before going up to the wall, to
clear his mind and prepare when he saw a young Dunmer trying to break into a
store.
"What is the Dunmer doing?" he asked in a mock-innocent voice.
"I... uh.. I was just..." and with that boy ran off.
Dar'Tessir usually didn't have a problem with stealing, he had done it most of
his life in Senchal, but one shouldn't do it when everyone else is hiding or
fighting a war. Plus, the Khajiit thought to himself, judging by his cloathes
he didn't really need it. [654]
[655] QUOTE(Loranna @ Jan 5 2006, 12:36 PM)
[656] And in the back,
looming over everything ... giant emperor crabs of gleaming metal, sporting
claws that could snap three people in half in a single pinch, each step they
took shaking the earth ...
The people of Ald Raathim were a hardy bunch; they had fought the Azurites and
won when no one else had, they had faced the rebel Redoran before at Tel Sigrid
Kiseena was also awestruck once she had seen the river of metal crabs coming
for them. A few of the oncoming bolts and arrows were dodged almost by reflex,
but the splash of burning oil wasn't something she was used to. With a yowl of
pain, she dropped down below the battlements, grinding her arm and shoulder
against them to scrape the heat away.
She crouched, panting, her burned arm shaking. She started to wonder what she
was doing up on this wall, risking her life just because she wasn't quick
enough to help Anya directly.
"Kiseena is a silly cat," she whimpers to herself, peeking just over
the battlements at the crashing flood of war. [659]
"Yes she is." Anya called out. She was still bloodied from the fight,
mostly along her curiass where the commander and spilled, and some underneath
her chin, "Didn't your mother teach you to not stand in open view."
Anya looked at Kiseena, a strange expression in her eyes, one that came from
the expectation from fresh blood. Though Kiseena wouldn't know why Anya held
it. She handed Kiseena a healing potion, "This'll help the burns, drink
Kiseena permitted herself a light smile when she saw Anya. She nodded and
looking up at Anya. "Kiseena is unsure arrows and daggers will work."
Her paw tightened around her bow, peeking sideways over the battlements again. [679]
Shoot, reload, fire. Shoot, reload, fire. This was getting rather repetative. Valerius bent over for what seemed the hundreth time to load his crossbow when he heard shouts from above. Looking over the wall, he saw the enemy march ever closer, their footsteps increasing in magnitute. Dodging a fireball, he shouted to his men over the din of combat, "FASTER!" [680]
Reichi's recall he
brought him back to his room in the castle, after a moment's hesistation,
Reichi opened a drawer. In the drawer lay a ring, very similar to the one on
his hand, however, where the wolf's head was engraved into his ring, the other
ring's wolf-head protruded. In a way, both rings represented their functions,
one sealed the wolf in, the other drew it out. This was Hircine's ring, a ring
that when worn, and willed into use, could turn one into a werewolf for six or
seven hours, with all the strength and speed of a werewolf, and none of the
bloodlust. Reichi's one, on the other hand was only of use to a lycanthrope, or
any other manner of werebeast, and prevented a transformation, and could be
used to prematurely end a transformation. It had been a long time since he used
it.
Reichi removed his helmet so he could place the ring on his collar for safe
keeping before replacing the helmet and hurrying out to the castle walls.
Reichi didn't really intend to use that ring, so much as well, if the city fell
he didn't want to lose it, but if the city came dangerously close to falling,
then he would use it.
Reichi readied the bow and what arrows he had left, and saw the enemy Parraptons
flying overhead. He took several potshots at them, they all missed of course,
but it vented some frustration.
"Crush the rebel scum. Let their waves of men and machine break against
the solid rock that is Ald Raathim." [681]
Archmagister Zadion
flew through the skies of Ald Raatham, looking at the approaching army before
floating up to the tower of the castle where Loranna's office was located.
"Make certain you put some archers and mages up here to repel any other
mages or parraptons," the Altmer sorceror said as he stepped in through
the window. "I should tell you that several people have tried to break in
to the Guild to flee through the Guild Guide. If worse comes to worse, we'll
help with refugees, but I've placed a powerful lock on the door to the
Guildhouse for now. People shouldn't be huddling within when they can be
defending the Duchy."[682]
Women, children, men and mer too old to heft a sword ... all stood within the
sheltering stones of the castle; some were crying, bearing wounds on their
bodies, while others bore wounds visible in their eyes, wounds brought from
fear and loss. Some people cried; others screamed; still others were laughing
and a few stared blankly upwards, toward the ceiling.
The sounds of the bombs and spells dropped by the enemy parraptons was like a
heavy rainfall, the rumbling brought by the crabs was as thunder rolling in the
pouring out from the frightened people.
One Dunmer woman stands slightly apart from the others, her arms lacerated and
Dynate had helped push
arrows the rest of the way through his friends bodys for long enough.
He had heard the screams of archers for long enough.
It was time to get back to the fighting.
He got four friends of his tword the wall, there lightweight bonemold armor had
blood across it, Dynate looked over at his pauldron, a bloody hand streak was
wiped across it from one of the old veteran orc he had cared for.
"Goodbye Oopugof" he muttered, and pointed two fingers up to the air.
When they got to the wall parapent, it was astonishing the sight he saw,
through the fog of war, they saw giant crabs in the distance.
A large boulder from the seige weapons flew through the air, which crashed into
the the ocean of yellow.
Dynate couldnt move, he was too blown away by the huge mass that was ahead of
him.
During his imobilisation, a magic spell shot forth, which struck him in the
face, he was knocked backwards off the wall top....
He fell downward, until he was caught by someones float spell, he lay
motionless when he got to the ground. The spell had hit him directly, and taken
effect, Dynates friends ran downward to him, when they got there Dynate was
just laughing.
"An ice spell? hahahahaha im too nord to take that [censored]." [688]
Summary
With Telasero abandoned, Mr. Winston fled with what was left of the Telasero
force, the numbers were grim and Commander Winston was much ashamed of himself
for doing such a cowardly act I should have fought died in honor He
thought to himself. They were working their way back to Molag Mar; not knowing
if Molag Mar had sustained the onslaught or gave into it... [689]
P'Rassha Summary:
These moments weren't P'Rassha's favorites. Mass battles have not the thrill of
skirmishes. They were plain and simple butchering. Insane and useless
slaughter.
But he stood behind the walls, his axe in hand and Violetta close to his heart,
prepared to protect the ones he liked.
Oh, and as always, he stood among the masses, with his 9 feet and jaguar spots
all around his body. Just like any other Cathay-raht Khajiit. [690]
Reeds locked the
quartermaster's office and moved out to the walls, making sure he knew his
relative position to the building, should the walls fall.
When he reached the walls, he grabbed a bow off someone who clearly would not
be needing it any longer and joined in the attack. [691]
Slyvos tries to filter out the sounds of despair and fear within the castle,
which was pretty obvious from the way his face twitched occasionally, before he
finally just gave into both the worry, annoyance, and sorrow he was feeling all
at once. He looked around, trying to see who needed help with anything, as if
anyone DIDN'T fall into that category. And of course, the khajiit saw too many
to count, his hand going up to his face in frustration at being helpless to do
anything to help them in any way but physically.
why do I even bother to worry, we're all gonna die anywa- no, can't start
thinking like that, we're going to get through this. He thought to himself,
his eyes closed in contemplation of what he should, and could, do.
And then he saw the woman who was wrapped up in her own shirt, her arms
bleeding profusely and staining the fabric with it's crimson colors of death.
"as Loranna alway says... Nine be with us." He walked up to the
Dunmer woman slowly, putting his hands on her arms gently, as a blue glow from
a healing spell eminated from his fingers. [696]
Valerius fired off his
crossbow and reloaded it one final time before the ladders started going up. He
hooked his crossbow onto his back and pulled out his sword and shield. Tapping
the broadsword on the shield, he muttered "Nine be with me." And
charged across to defend the walls.
Around him, his command drew their weapons and prepared to face the attackers
head-on. [697]
her arms no longer bleed. When she does speak, her voice cracks over her lips:
"Please; my husband. He ... he fell; he's always so clumsy. Please, please
The number of arrows and spells comming over the wall had increased and Dar'Tessir decided it was time to get up on the wall. As he ran up the stairs an arrow just missed his head and by the time he was on the wall he was dodging arrows at regular intervals. He turned his attention towards a group of mages who were particularly skilled at throwing lightning at the defenders on the wall and causing casualties. He brought two spells to mind, first he cast a large area but moderate damage shock spell immediatly followed by an area effect sound spell. Several of the mages yelled as the ball of lightning crashed among their ranks, though it didn't kill any. Then the sound spell hit, its noise distracting the mages and causing some to fail they're spells, it would last a short while longer, Dar'Tessir hoped that was enough time for the other mages and archers to take them out. [703]
It was never the time
to fight, P'Rassha knows, but it was always the time to share a story.
P'Rassha's Bosmeri longbow was clearly usefull to kill redoran invaders past
the wall, but the Khajiit tried everything he could do to cheer his infortunate
companions, watching over the wall.
After an arrow struck a Redoran directly into an eyeball, P'Rassha couldn't
helped but do what he's doing the best.
To everyone that could hear him, he said:
"It reminds P'Rassha of a skirmish P'Rassha had against 25 bandits."
He shot another arrow, that missed its target.
"P'Rassha was with his Nord friend Elidrian. We had nothing to defend
ourselves except P'Rassha and Elidrian's axes. P'Rassha bow and Elidrian
daggers were out of reach when the bandit attacked."
During his speech, two redoran soldiers felt to his arrows. He had only 10
arrows remaining.
"We fought to the end. We thought we were going to die. What could
P'Rassha do against such a great number."
Nine arrows remaining, and another Redoran soldier down.
"We managed to reach a small abandoned house in the middle of a forest
before we died."
7 arrows, but the two shots missed.
"Do you know what P'Rassha did? He fought bravely, but he was struck by a
bandit. P'Rassha had a very serious wound."
6 arrows.
"But P'Rassha wasn't alone. Elidrian, with all the fury of a Nordic woman,
she attacked and killed so many bandits that the remaining ones fled, feeling
the prey wasn't worth the effort."
5 arrows.
"What P'Rassha meant with this story? No matter what happens, trust the
friend behind you. He is your only hope of success."
4 arrows remaining. [704]
Shaka glanced over at Anya. Though the Bosmer vampire was one of the few who
could fully read his face, he showed both relief that Anya and Kiseena were
alive, and concern over the blood on Anya.
Feeding on the enemy, he thought. I guess it's no worse than cutting them down.
But it will be dangerous if she gets to liking it too much. A talk for later,
if there is a later. . . .
"Glad to see you and your scouts made it, Angel," he said.[709]
Isidor's axe cut through a redoran, as he jumped over the wall, atop a ladder. Isidor pushed the corpse back over the wall, knocking down the ladder that he had come up on. Isidor shook his head, war had hit home. [710]
Valerius swung his
sword over the walls, chopping off a redoran's head as he ascended the ladder,
"Twenty-three." He dodged and arrow, three more stuck into his
shield, and he let an unfortunate battelmage with a jump spell impale himself
on his sword, "Twenty-four..."
Looking down, he got an idea. pointing his sword at the ladder, he sent off a
giant shock spell, which hit the ladder square. It rocked to the side, stopped
for a moment, then fell under its own momentum, casting redorans to their
deaths. "Fifty."
Isidor smiled, and winked at P'Raasha. "As long as you're not coming over
it back off, sending it thundering to the ground. [726]
Slashes became
concearned by the enemies making it to the walls, they we using ladders,
levitat, jump, any way, but they were making the top.
"Squads three, six, and seven! Walls, now!"
He had his claymore in his hands now, clieving enemy soldiers as they made the
top. Arrows bounced off his armor, one finding it's mark on his elbow. He
yanked it out and healed the injury, good as new. [727]
Shaka had to fight to
keep a clear head; the enemy were upon the outer walls of the city, whether
through ladder, spell, or grappling hook. The Spear decapitated a Redoran
before he could climb over the battlement, and then Shaka invoked a storm
atronach. He only had charge enough in the Spear for four more this day.
The atronach pushed a ladder from the battlement, then jumped into the army
below. The impact of the rock-like golem sent stress fractures through its
legs, but the unliving summon couldn't bleed.
The atronach tore into the enemy soldiers emotionlessly, until it was pulled
down by a score of Redorans and hacked apart. It had taken almost that number
down with it, though.
Meanwhile, the spear was a blurred arc as Shaka helped the defenders try to
keep the Redorans from climbing onto the parapet.[728]
Indoril, wake up!'
A moan came from Faryon as he rolled over... who was that beautiful woman he
was with last night? Everything was a blur of the previous night, err morning,
'What is it?'
'Councillor Vaden's forces have reached Ald Raatham, sir, they are about to
assult the outer walls'
Faryon woke up, 'I thought my intelegence said there were no walls around Ald
Raatham'
'Apparently, due to popular opinion, they were put in'
'Silly people! They had to go make our jobs harder. Anyway, is the mirror set
up?'
'Yes, its the 54 inch mirror, with surround sound'
Faryon pulled himself off the floor, and brushed himself off, making his way to
the tower.
A group of soldiers were gathered around the mirror, watching the battle in
progress, oohing and ahing at the various attacks by the Parraptons on the
city, as the crabs approched the outer wall, a wall that was gleeming with
newness. Faryon found a seat, and sat down to watch the fight [729]
[730] QUOTE(Dagoth Lich @ Jan 5 2006, 07:48 PM)
[731] Slyvos sighed, taking
his hands off of the dunmer's arms as slowly as he put them on, feeling them
covered in blood as he had to touch the woman to heal her with that particular
spell.
"where did your husband fall at, near the castle or near your home?"
He asked, concern finally finding it's way into his voice. He glanced to the
servant, saying nothing.
[733]
The woman gestures, a brief flicker of hope coming to her face; her words spill
out of her mouth. "Just outside; we were leaving our shop - it's the
Baker's Guar, over by the Arena, you know - and there was a shadow overhead and
I heard him trip, but he told me to keep on going, and then I tore up my arms
on something, I don't remember quite what ..."
The servant winces, looking upward, as the sound of a ballistae bolt smacking
the castle's roof causes many people to jump. "Ayem be with us ..."
he says, shaking his head morosely...
Then, the thunderous shaking of the ground increases ...
On the walls, the fighting was fierce; forevery Redoran who fell or was cut
down, three more took his place. Gleaming metal monstrosities and screaming
Oblivion spawn clambored over the bodies of the fallen, seeking blood to spill
and flesh to rend.
And then, the giant metal crabs, which up till now had hung back, flinging
ballistae bolts and spells, began to move forward, their pincers extending into
attack positions as they marched inexorably toward the walls.[734]
Anya pulled the string of her bow and fired. A small radius around the area
erupted in ice. She nocked her bow with another arrow.
"Don't speak too soon, honey, it's just starting."[739]
A flight of parraptons
flew high above the city of Ald Raathim, and paper showered down below.
Pythus Angelicus rushing to join the royal army in defending the city walls
picked up one of the papers.
"THROW DOWN YOUR ARMS AND SURRENDER NOW AND YOUR LIVES WILL BE
It was written in Cyrodilic, and in the cants of Argonia and Elsweyr and
picked up his sword, and resumed what he was doing. Now I can't die, he
thought jokingly to himself. [745]
The Redorans were on
the wall and Dar'Tessir didn't like that, he wasn't much use against hordes of
armored warriors looking to kill him. Nonetheless he gave it his all the whole
time swearing in ta'Agra, breaking the stream only to cast spells.
[772] Valerius swung his
sword over the walls, chopping off a redoran's head as he ascended the ladder,
"Twenty-three." He dodged and arrow, three more stuck into his
shield, and he let an unfortunate battelmage with a jump spell impale himself
on his sword, "Twenty-four..."
Looking down, he got an idea. pointing his sword at the ladder, he sent off a
giant shock spell, which hit the ladder square. It rocked to the side, stopped
for a moment, then fell under its own momentum, casting redorans to their
deaths. "Fifty."
[774]
Valerius had thrown down three more ladders in the past few minutes, raising
his count to 139. Seeing the crabs appoach and the subsequent electrical storm
from the walls. Valerius adds his sword's enchantment a bit belatedly to the
Dar'Tessir heeded the Argonian's call and threw shock-balls toward the crabs. Dar'Tessir
will die today, either by the crabs or shock at his survival he thought.
Dar'Tessir noticed one of the leaflets. He picked up a deadman's bow and an
arrow, pireced the arrow through the note and fired it towards the enemy army.
He wasn't much of a shot but he was sure someone would see it. With that he
went back to attacking the crabs. [780]
Knowing her arrows wouldn't be nearly as effective as Anya's against the crabs,
she kept her own shots toward the Redoran themselves. Every so often, though,
she had to drop her bow to sink her silver daggers into the unarmored areas she
could find. Any pain still in her arm from the oil faded into the haze that the
sounds of battle formed in her mind. [785]
Reichi looked at the
peices of paper falling from the sky, and paused to grab one and read it,
before discarding it with a scornful "Hah!" Reichi tossed his bow and
empty quiver at a random enemy soldier.
Reichi then rushed at those enemies already on the walls, with his blades,
using his usual tactic of striking many more times then they could handle.
Reichi forced many off the walls or killed them outright, Bloodfang's
absorbative enchantment healing wounds Reichi gained in the process. His
bloodstained and gore covered armor made him a fearsome sight. It'd be a pain
in the ass to clean later, but right now Reichi was glad he had used that one
[790]
Slashes's mages unleash a torrent of magic at the advancing crabs, lightning
crashing into their metal surfaces, causing some burn damage. A lucky blast
catches the ballistae on top of one crab and neatly cracks the seige weapon in
twain.
However, the mages soon learn that their opponents can absorb a great deal of
damage; not a single crab stops moving or even looks like it's going to slow
down. Several soldiers, their nerves already stretched taut, snap, mindlessly
throwing everything they have at the encroaching crabs, and succeeeding in
accomplishing exactly nothing.
The first few crabs reach the walls, the Redoran soldiers concentrating their
fighting in that area to ward off Ald Raathim's attackers. The metal pincers
thrust forward, gouging huge rents in the wall, then open and pulverize the
stone. The wall shakes, and it's obvious the crabs will break through in a
Shaka took a moment to cast a healing blue light over Kiseena's burns. Up and
down the line of defenders, other healers worked to stabilize the injured and
drag away the seriously wounded for further aid.
The vibration underfoot from the enemy attempting to breach the outer walls of
Ald Raathim was almost like being at sea now. The din of battle was deafening,
with war-cries on both sides and the screams of the wounded.
with spears raised, prepared to gore him.
Without even looking back then, he casted a spell to fortify his speed, and
Valerius hears the orders and sees the general retreat. Ordering his mean to
fall back to the courtyard, they fall in near the front of the battle lines.
eight of the fifteen men he had started command with were dead. [820]
With a resounding
crash of rubble, one of the crabs breaks through; a moment later, a second crab
bursts through a few dozen yards down. The crabs hunker down, and upon the top
of their shells, hatches open, disgorging more fabricants and soldiers into the
city. The Redorans give voice to a loud cheer, singing Almalexia's praises as
the pour through the breaches.
The streets already are filled with chaos, as some of Ald Raathim's soldiers
fight with downed enemy parrapton riders. Slyvos's quick action, while netting
him bruised feet, manage to add two more downed riders to the choas, as his
fireball causes the parraptons themselves to screech in agony and crash.
Even with invisibility, it takes Slyvos a lot of doing to avoid being attacked
again, and the bodies of the slain on the streets are a grim reminder of what
awaits him should he mis-step, or not pay attention for but a moment.
Eventually, though, he reaches the Baker's Guar ...
... and finds the body of a Dunmer lying face down in the street, an arrow in
his back. His arms are outstretched, and his eyes stare the glassy-eyed stare
of the dead.
Soldiers fall off the walls as more crabs attack, and those soldiers that have
broken in begin fighting their way into the city's heart. A large fireball
sails overhead, smashing into a pawn shop; the force of the blast brings half
the wall down ...
More wounded are brought into the castle; Loranna, having done what she can and
being less skilled in military matters than her generals, takes time to help
her servants administer potions and healing magic to those who need it. The
Duchess can't keep the tears from coming to her eyes as she sees faces of
people she knows covered in dirt and blood, their expressions full of fear.
" ... You there; have you seen my husband?" Loranna asks the servant
Slyvos had spoken with briefly, a while ago. Theservant gulps, and points to a
window, muttering "I'msorry, Your Grace; he moved 'afore I could tell him
it was hopeless ..."
A young Altmer girl cries out for her mother; Loranna squeezes the girl's hand
reassuringly, but her eyes are glued to the window ...[821]
