Hello,
and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and
socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
===
Newcomers, we ask you to http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855
before starting up; everyone will be happier for it. Also,
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737 as soon as
possible; this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.
To help you get up to speed, here is
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html. This summary doesn't cover
everything but it sums up some of the bigger events our campaign has covered.
Note: She will probably update and edit this summary as time goes on.
===
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of
disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character
at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are
encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for
some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is
not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there
for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP
You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely
to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously
not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

IMPORTANT: WE HAVE
JUMPED SIX MONTHS INTO THE FUTURE; IT IS NOW MID YEAR IN THE RP (i.e., June)

Summary for Loranna: Loranna is in Ald Raathim, anxiously awaiting news from
her companions in Vvardenfell on the state of Goranthir, who seems to have
become a completely different person. She also continues to work with the
effort to reclaim southern Morrowind, and is quietly keeping her eyes open for
whatever might have come in on the dead ship that drifted into the mangroves a
few days ago.

Meanwhile ...
Dayla feels Goranthir's sword bite into her neck, and instinctively, she forms
maws inside her stomach, biting into Shaka and draining blood to replenish herself.
However, she lacks concentration to keep a strong hold on him, and with her
neck wound being the most important thing t ofix, her belly remains ...
ventilated ...
With a powerful two-hnded blow, Dayla punches at Goranthir to knock him off ...[1]
OOC Summary: Vaan is still in Ald Raathim, making proper arrangements for the servitude of the Muatramer. [2]
Marein and Shai are,
to reiterate, basically off doing their own things - one being rich and the
other training.
Diamond, however...Diamond just got kidnapped. [3]

Summary: Shaka is imprisoned within the undead shapeshifter Dayla, and still
under a command spell.
Shaka felt the slaughterfish-like mouths within Dayla crunch into his scales
and flesh, but was beyond caring as his blood began to pump into the vampire. [8]
Summary
Kethiah, ex-assassin, co-proprietor of the Nymph and Noggin tavern, the
Duchess of Ald Raathim's excise tax and import/export agent (and secretly, her
Spymaster) is at her tavern, meeting with merchants. Though her mind is on her
unborn child, which she has just learned is going to be a boy, and on Isidor's
suggestion of getting married soon ...
And Goranthir, Prince of Firsthold, is "dead," as in no longer
in conscious control of his body, which is instead occupied by Geht, emissary
of the King of Worms, who possesses Goranthir's ability to communicate with
animals, amplified manyfold.[9]

Summary for Nalion
Nalion, a Breton mage, is currently fighting with a snake-woman, being
assaulted by Indoril guards while trying to rescue Vampire-Anya and a charmed
Shaka. All the while, he tries hard not to get hurt himself.
/Summary
As the Breton mage saw Shaka fighting with multiple mouths of this strange
snake beast, Nalion cried out in dismay, making his way towards the Argonian
Battlemage with a whirling staff.
As he was close enough, he cast an absorb health spell onto the snake woman to
distract her, then tried to grab Shaka's hand to get him out. Nalion sincerely
hoped that Anya did not attack him. [14]
OOC Summary
Reichi Sari is in Ald Sotha, currently nearly rooted to the floor because of
Nalion's burden spell. And as such, unable to really contribute to battle. [15]

[19]
Shaka felt a softskin's hand in his. He automatically closed his claw around
Nalion's hand. The mouths within Dayla that were bleeding him resisted at
first, then began to let go as Nalion began pulling Shaka forward.
The Argonian found himself lying on the tower's floor, dry-heaving and trying
to clear his mind.[20]
OOC Summary: Anya is
now a feral vampire, trying to kill her master.
Anya focused her eyes. She had used Groanthir's distraction to latch her hands,
tipped with her claws, onto her mater's neck. She was squeezing as much as
possible, her glowing eyes burning with hate.
Anya snarled at Dayla, "You hurt me no more." [21]

The mage pulled Shaka out of the snake-woman's immediate range of action. Then,
Nalion kneeled over to him, relying on the shield spell he had cast just before
the fight began, for the necessary protection from a possible attack. Putting
his hands over Shaka's wounds, they glowed in a diffuse blue light, and
hopefully, the wounds would begin to heal.[26]

After the healing spell on Shaka was completed, Nalion directed his attention
elsewhere. The danger of more guards was still there, and weakened as they
were, they needed Reichi now.
"Sorry, Reichi!", Nalion thought, as he turned towards the Dunmer,
then summoned his will again and sent a dispel spell flying towards his friend.

Blood flows freely from Goranthir's broken jaw as he gets to his feet. His
golden eyes, so mild and unreadable since his "transformation" into
Geht, blaze with naked emotion. Foremost is fear. He needs to be gone. The
second emotion is less classifiable, but almost seems to be a strange sort of
jealousy.
Dayla's back is to him once again. He rushes her, slashing at her with his
sword.

The spell hit Reichi and the Dunmer got up from where he had been sitting.
Reichi readied his blade, "Next time Nal, use a fireball. I lack burden
resistance but do have fire resistance." [50]

Anya ignored the buzzing coming from the argonian. If just furthered to anger
her more when he knew her name.
Anya snarled at Goranthir, this was her's to kill. Her's to get revenge. Her
mater, the one that took so much away, and gave her back more. She twisted,
keeping one hand locked in Dayla's neck, while another whipped out in a blur

[59]
Goranthir/Geht and Anya's eyes met.
They were similar creatures now. And both of them knew it.
Goranthir nodded, and unable to speak, made a gesture upwards.
Then he ran for the stairs.
[60]
Goranthir's
sword-swipe sinks into Dayla's back, and without a ready source of blood, other
than Anya, the wound does not immediately heal. Dayla's eyes go wide and her
mouth opens, as if to bite Anya ...
... and she stops, conflicting emotions so powerful raging through her, that
not even her serpentine face could mask them. For a single second, she stands
paralyized, her claws in Anya's limbs, hearing Anya's cry for vengeance ring in
her head and seeing the look in Anya's eyes.
And her mind confused by her emotions, her instincts took over. To stay here
any longer meant death; self-preservation demanded she flee. She swung her arms
again, to free herself from Anya, her undead strength unfettered by any
restraint.
" ... Run; we must run!" Dayla hisses to Anya, her body shifting back
to full Dunmer form as she turns and flees. "Don't look back!"
The guards who had not been slain before had already fled, knowing when they
were outmatched - but the sounds of shouting indicate that there are more

Shaka was on his feet, and took Anya's face in his hands. It was like moving a
marble statue.
"I guess I'm well served, my love," he said. "All the times I've
been condescending, or like a father, or like Vondicus. And now you can kill me
without trying."
"But I'm still yours, even if you do."
His first sight of Anya was burned into his memory. Hey Isidor, he had said. Is
that a cliffracer attacking that woodelf? And he had run to try to save the
maiden.
[66]
Anya hastily pulled
her hand away from this argonian's face. Dayla's blow was enough to knock Anya
to her knees, and she cradled the arm that she had hit. She had watched her
mater run, was still wasn't strong enough to kill her.
Anya didn't know what to do. She was about to stand up when another hunger pang
shot through her body. Anya still hadn't eaten yet, and she couldn't feed off
of these people anymore. She gripped her stomach and snarled, picking up on the
sounds and scents of the new threat making it's way towards her. [67]

collasped, "I got her, c'mon we're outta here!" he shouted. [72]

Goranthir ran up the winding stairs, higher and higher. He knew that this mind
knew a healing spell, but it wasn't working. The pain in his jaw was too much
to concentrate on it. He hoped Anya understood him when he pointed up, and
would know which way to run. He hoped the others would pay heed to him, and
follow.
Most of all, he hoped his roar had been heard earlier, because with his jaw
broken, he couldn't do it again.
He climbed out of the narrow window at the top of the stairs, and scurried out
on top of the spire above.
Looking down onto Ald Sotha from this height, his eyes widened at what he
beheld.
[77]
Reichi followed after Goranthir up the winding stairs, he wondered where the hell Goranthir was heading. Unless there was some sort of monolithic cliffracer outside the tower would trap them. Reichi tossed Anya up the narrow window at the top before climbing up himself. [78]

[87]
Reichi raised a eyebrow, and looked down where Goranthir pointed. [88]
Looking down at Ald
Sotha from the tower, Goranthir and the others could see a chilling sight.
First, they could see the sheer number of extra accomodations made to house
people; it was clear that there were many, many people in the former ruins. A
seemingly endless number of soldiers were scrambling below, each armored in
heavy armor and bearing a mix of ebony and Dwemer weapons. But that was not the
worst thing.
Second, they could see gleaming metal constructs the size of men or bigger;
long-necked, loping metal beasts with wide eyes, bulky metal scorpions with
waving pincers and tails. Though not as numerous as the soldiers, it was clear
there were many such monstrosities, and each looked fully capable of rending a
man in armor in two. But that was not the worst thing.
Third ... they could see the metal crabs.
The large as a house metal crabs.
The dozen large as a house metal crabs, bearing pincers the size of an ogrim
and with embankments built into the gleaming metal shell, where archers or
mages could rain death on those below.
The dozen metal crabs ... that looked like they were outside simply to be
worked on, for there were huge new buildings that could fit those dozen metal
crabs, and easily a dozen more ... or perhaps two dozen more ...
And even that was not the worst thing. The worst thing was the single guard who
happened to look up at the wrong time, and whose voice rang through the night.

Goranthir sighed in relief as his injured jaw mended, healed itself. He tested
it once with words. "Thank you, Slyvos Dagoth Lichlord," he said.
Then he roared again, looking out to the sea beyond.
It was empty of all but the azure blue waves between Ald Sotha and Vivec city.

them, and the five of them were trapped on the roof of the tower.

quietly to himself.
I knew I should have done more research into Goran's situation ...
Slyvos thinks. I hope we can figure out how to fix this - before that army

[119]
The armored footsteps on the stairs could be heard coming closer.
Then the dark shape exploded, waves crashing some miles distant, but the sound
was unmistakable.
It was sapphire green, this thing, two hundred feet long, that launched itself
into the sky. Its leathery wings unfurled, to tilt its trajectory towards the
tower.
Within a few beats of its wings, it was there, looking at the heroes as it
hovered, its face long and sleek as a snakes, but with a cat's eyes, ears, and
whiskers.
"You could live a thousand more years and never see a dragon,"
Goranthir said, stepping onto its wide back, ridged with four foot long spikes.
"Come on."
[120]
"Dragons...underwater....?" Reichi asked, incredulous. Reichi hesistated a moment before hopping on the dragon's back, grabbing onto a spike out of caution. "Unbelievable..." [121]
Slyvos mutters
"Loranna's going to be jealous she didn't get to see this ..." s he
tentatively climbs onto the dragon with Reichi.
Below, thousands of armored heads stare upwards, beholding the sight of the
dragon. A silence descends over all of Ald Sotha - the silence of mer who haved
looked upon true majesty and been awed into silence.
The guards who were coming upstairs burst out onto the tower - and are
similarly stunned. One manages to mutter "B'Vehk ... a Dragon?!",
another prays to ALMSIVI, and the rest hold back, unsure what to do.
As Goranthir said, they could live a thousand years more, and never see this
sight again. Even the most bloodthirsty knew that.[122]

[126]
Once all were on the majestic creature's back, it rocketed upward, into the
clouds. Goranthir growled a few words to the dragon, and it growled back in
response.
They were three thousand feet in the air in no time, but the air was warm and
there was almost no wind, though they could tell they were flying very fast.
The moons and the stars lit their way.
"Where do you need to go?" Goranthir asked, and then looked at Anya.
"And what do you intend to do with her? The sun will be rising soon."
[127]
Reichi stared out at the incredible scenery, the stars, the moons, the warm and almost windless air, the dragon. "I think we need to go to Ald Raathim, we're done in Vvardenfell, as far as I know," he said after a time. "As for Anya...I have no idea. Maybe if we could find a cave or something..." [128]

Anya stared at the glistening scales, at the power behind each corded muscle.
At the call of this beast tongue master. She clutched onto the magnificent
beast, the ultimate in power. She couldn't fathom what ran through it's veins,
and felt no need to find out.
Anya grimmaced. The aches running through her didn't show signs of stopping. In
the air, she had lost the scent of these Dunmer, Khajiit, Argonian, and Breton.
And her mind had quieted from it, but her body still needed sating.
"I'll find my way. I just need someone, anyone..." [133]
[134] QUOTE(Aki @ Dec 20 2005, 12:26 AM)
[135] Reichi stared out at the incredible scenery, the stars, the moons, the warm and almost windless air, the dragon. "I think we need to go to Ald Raathim, we're done in Vvardenfell, as far as I know," he said after a time. "As for Anya...I have no idea. Maybe if we could find a cave or something..."
[137]
"That's a good suggestion, Reichi of Balmora," Goranthir nodded, and
growled instructions to the dragon. It snorted in response, a plume of hot dark
gray mist spilling out of its nostrils.
It made a gentle quarter turn and dove back down through the clouds, slowly
angling itself towards the Velothi Mountains in the distance.
"There are some foothills outside Ald Raathim," Goranthir told the
others. "A pretty extensive cave network. There might even be a wild guar
or two in the area she could kill to slake her thirst before daybreak."[138]
"That sounds good," Reichi said. Though a guar wouldn't taste as good as a person, Reichi guessed, it'd have much more blood, which was probably more important right now. "If there isn't time before daybreak someone can go grab one for her." Reichi took the time to look down as the dragon swooped towards the Velothi mountains. [139]

[143]
The dragon circled down, and just for an instant, those on its back could see a
second dragon, a black one, twice its size, arch into the mountains,
disappearing into a canyon.
Their ride did not reduce its speed as it shot across an alpine meadow, and
then over a lake, the water below reflecting the green just for an instant
before the force of the wind parted the water, splashing ten foot tall waves on
either side.
They were coming into familiar foliage, and before the dragon veered into a
cave, a royal fort could be seen, and the tower of the Duchess's castle over
the treetops.
The dragon landed gently on the wet cave floor. Its long tail provided a slide
of sorts to the ground.
"You are three miles east of the village," Goranthir said. [144]
Back in Ald Sotha, a
naked Dunmer woman was still staring up at the sky, the image of the green
dragon still vivid before her eyes.
With everything that had happened that night, it was a wonder Dayla's mind
didn't turn completely to mush; in the past few days she lost everyone she ever
cared for, including the first woman she had ever made into her filia. The
sensation of Anya's clawed fingers on her throat still lingered; reaching up to
touch her neck, Dayla could swear she could feel the cool softness of Anya's
skin ...
Her belly ached, wanting blood, wanting to feel soft warm flesh against her
insides. Her fellow filia had thought her desires strange, and even her mater
had moved back to simply biting people, or else siphoning their blood through
her fingers, but she always liked the feeling of closeness one got from
swallowing. Right now, she needed any sort of comfort she could get ...
Her mater would be furious at what had happened tonight, not to mention the
loss of her fellow filia. Ald Sotha had been important; now, who knew what
would happen, now that their presence was discovered. She could already feel
her mater's eyes on her, boring holes into her flesh.
Her own filia ... she ran away from her, turned on her ... no; the monster Geht
did that. Everything was fine up until he and the others showed up, made a mess
of everything. She'd have been able to control the Khajiit if not for them, her
filia would have fed and been satiated, everything would have been fine ...
A sound catches her ears, bringing her mind back from the endless circles it
was racing in. She saw a group of three soldiers approaching her, their eyes
still showing the awe and wonder that she herself had felt upon seeing the
Dragon.
Dayla smiles; at least the ache in her belly would be satiated now, though not
the ache in her heart. And as she used her magic to render the guards helpless
and shifted to swallow them whole, she tells herself "I'll come back for
you as soon as I can, my filia; my darling filia ..."
Her neck still felt warm where Anya's fingers dug into it, however.[145]
The Caves Outside
Ald Raathim
As Anya, Reichi, Slyvos, Shaka, and Nalion slid off the dragon, Goranthir
addressed them, his golden eyes mild once again. "As much as our destinies
do not collide, I wish you luck with yours. I have no doubt we will see one
another again, and I say sincerely, I hope it will be as friends again."
To Anya, he added. "Despite your bloodlust, there is much of the old Anya
that remains. You may be able to preserve that. You may embrace the darkness.
If you wish to change, my Father can help."
He looked to Slyvos: "You too will have some trials ahead. Mannimarco can
protect you."
The dragon shifted with curious agility, avoiding the tiny people at its feet
as it turned to face the cave entrance again.
"Tell those who loved Goranthir that they may mourn, for he is dead,"
Goranthir added.
The dragon launched itself out of the cave, its wings beating a wind nearly
strong enough to knock the heroes off their feet. [146]
Anya tackled the guar,
easily holding it to the ground. She would have liked to have taken down
something from a dead run for a bit of fun, but the guar was too slow, and she
was too hungry.
Anya opened her mouth wide with fangs elongated, the warmth from the beast
tickling her throat. Her eyes narrowed at the scent, of the life giving liquid
flowing through. She swiftly bit down, peircing it's hide. The creatures futile
cries just furthered to pump the blood and excite Anya all the more.
She bit down again, and agian, almost chewing out a chunk of it's skin. The
blood washed through her, hitting the pit of her stomach with an explosion. It
was as if a lost person just recieved their first drop of water after days.
She could like this. She could learn to really enjoy it.
But, but she wanted more. The blood eased the pain, and all wounds were mended
easily, but she was not sated. She craved more. Her nose was tickled with the
scents of man and mer alike. That was the scent she wanted, the veins she
needed, not this dog's food.
But the waxing sun caused her to hesitate, it would burn, wouldn't it? She left
back towards the caves, using her hand to wipe the excess blood from her chin.
Anya ignored Goranthir's offer. She had heard that there were ways that man and
mer would use to cause her to loose this power. But she wouldn't let them take
it. She could be safer now, the power was a gift. They were wrong about that,
not a curse. It couldn't be a curse.[147]

Grace. Beauty. Majesty. Elegance.
There seemed to be more than enough words to describe Nalion's feelings as he
saw the dragon and and carried away by him, but despite this variety, none of
these words fit properly. It seemed like a dream, flying high through the air,
despite that they had just escaped a grave danger.
For a brief moment while riding on the dragon, Nalion was able to cast off the
sorrows and fear he had carried these days. Fear about Goranthir and Anya, dark
thoughts about Mannimarco, sorrow about the victims of the war...
But then, Goranthir's words in the cave brought him back from this dream.
"We will see each other again.", Nalion said in a low voice, but with
a rare defiance in his eyes, the same defiance had had felt when refusing to
let Azua control him on that horrible day in Vivec. The same defiance as he
fought the Azurites in the Imperial City. "There is hope yet."
[152]
Shaka sat in the dust,
his hands covering his face. All that I cherished in Anya, gone; he thought.
Without looking at the others, he said: "The greatest war machine of an
era is going to fall upon Helseth's side, and upon Daruhn. What can we do
now?"
There are still dragons in the world, he thought. Incredible.
Shaka stood up, feeling for the moment like the old Argonian he would be
decades from now, if he lived that long. "We've got to tell the Duchess,
try to prepare for the battles ahead. The Houses Redoran and Indoril can win
the war now, or at least prolong it."
"And . . . I know it's only two beings, but we have to save Anya and
Goranthir."[153]

The Duchess, it turns out, had indeed risen early to take her morning swim -
which these days was less vigorous than what she usually did, but Loranna found
the excersice relaxing.
Her hair is still wet when she greets Kethiah in her study, a few dropplets of
water making her tearstreaks glisten. "What news?" she asks, seeing
Kethiah's body language and surmising her Spymaster is worried.[159]
After goranthir and the dragon left, Slyvos just growled a bit, spitting where the dragon once stood. "I need no protection. Mannimarco can keep his help..." He just looked around the cave, wondering what they would do next... [160]

... But then it got me worried. There's always something happening, a raid, a

OOC SUMMARY
Dar'Tessir is in Senchal with Argonian bookseller Reeds Saloat to meet with an
old aquaintance of his who can sell Reeds rare books.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dar'Tessir woke up. It was still dark and probably very early, or very late and
he hadn't slept long. 'Reeds was right to take the floor,' he thought to
himself as he sat up in the lumpy bed and rubbed his back.
He couldn't get back to sleep and decided not to try. Instead he thought about
Senchal. He had lived there all his life, except a few months, and he wondered
why he liked it, his life there hadn't exactly been wonderful. It seemed to
have gotten better, but then, he had always sort of lived in the slums. [176]
Commander
Slashes-With-Claws continues to prepare his men for the battles ahead, he has
no idea of what is happening in Ald Sotha though.
Jei-Set is getting paid to hunt for wild guar. [177]
Slyvos sighed, looking
around one more time before casting recall, so he could return to his mark back
in the castle. He laughed a bit, collapsing onto the floor of the library and
looking a bit less intense. "home sweet home... well, almost."
Apparently no one was able to get the lock he had placed on this part of the
libary open yet, as he noticed from the dust covering everything. "need to
get that cleaned up..."
He walked over to the door, unlocking it with a little spell, and shutting it
behind him. He nodded in recognition to one of the servants that passed by him,
wearing a look of surprise. The servant immediately ran towards the study,
knocking on the door saying, "master slyvos is back!"
Sly of course, didn't take his time in heading towards the study himself, but
didn't rush like the servant did. [178]
Loranna's reply to Kethiah is intrerupted by the servant's news.
"What?!" Loranna says, looking elated and worried all at once.
"Get him up here, right away!"
"It's a relief he's alive," Kethiah nodded, stepping back to wait for
Slyvos dusted himself off alittle, still only having pants on from the little spying operation he did. He poked his head into the study, looking around after the servant had told him where Loranna was. Loranna's first reaction to seeing Slyvos is to sweep him into her arms and
shower his face with kisses. Her second reaction is to pull back and glare at
him, her stare promising that they will talk later about his little side trip
to VVardenfell ...
"Love, thank the Nine you're safe," she says aloud. "We'd lost
all contact with Vvardenfell ... what's been going on? What did you go to
investigate? Have you heard anything aboot Goranthir, or Ald Sotha?" [199]
Slyvos walk further
into the room, wondering which question to answer first. Then he figured, might
as well answer where he's been first, or his wife would have his head. And he
needed that, 4000 years of information and magic was in it! "I was...
investigating, if you could say that. I was trying to find the source of
Not sure still what was the cause, because something had cut my search short.
However, as far as I know, there is no item or creature around that could
create such energies... except maybe those rumours of Vivec and Sotha
Sil."
He looked a bit worried then. "I pretended to be a slave, in Ald Sotha...
and I learned something that may just save us. Fabricants. The slaves are
building frabricants for some reason. I'm not sure exactly what these...
things, can do, but they have a few that could probably tear down even this
She turned back to Slyvos. "Go on."
She sighs. "We'll worry about that some other time though. I'm just happy
you're back. But we have a lot of work to do. Anya and the others need to be
helped, Her Majesty needs to hear this news you bear, and we need to prepare
ourselves for a possible attack in the very near future." She gives Slyvos
a questioning stare. "I'm guessing you and the others were seen in Ald
Sotha, yes? So the enemy knows you escaped?"[227]
He had that 'oops' look on his face, showing that yes, he had messed up. "yes, they saw us... alot of them got killed though, luckily. And more were food for that... thing. Those were the unlucky ones. So yah, our cover is blown." [228]
[232]
"I suspected as much," Loranna says, smiling sadly. "Then the
enemy knows their big surprise isn't so much of a surprise anymore; that makes
it even more imperative to warn Mournhold of the coming threat."
"First, you tell us where the others are and we send them help, while I
contact Barenziah. She'll want any and all information on both Ald Sotha and
Goranthir's condition that we have. Whatever you heard about these fabricant's
abilities, let me know; that's vital information. How they're constructed, how
powerful they're supposed to be, how many there are and how fast can they be
made."[233]
"unfortunately, I
don't know how many of these things there are yet, or how fast they can be
made. Cause, well, the slaves only worked on the outer shells to house the
parts, not the parts themselves. I've only seen the house sized ones in action,
and well, those walls won't last long against their claws. Stone barely helps
against them... actually not at all." He looked around nervously, wondering
how to say the next thing... "and, giant crabs, houseing soldiers and
other such things to aid the fabricants in whatever ways they can. Other then
that, just some buffed up dwemer centurions scattered about."
He kissed Loranna a bit, before pulling away. "as for the others, they're
in a cave, 3 miles west from us at least... if they haven't moved on yet of
course."[234]
Shaka decided to stay
in the cave for a while and wait for Anya. He was actually closer to Castle Daruhn
on foot from there, compared to Recalling to his yurt.
He made sure to thank Nalion and Reichi for the rescue from Dayla, as well as
Slyvos before the latter Recalled to the castle.
Shaka sat back down in the cave and tried to meditate for a while, keeping one
ear out for Anya's return . . . .[235]
Loranna nods. "Slyvos, do me a favor?" she asks. "Down in the
alchemy lab, can you bring me up the vampire cure vials? They're locked in the
special cabinet. Also, bring up some healing potions; if Anya is hungry,
they'll at least assuage her bloodthirst. We'll go down to look at Anya as soon
as I've informed Her Majesty of the situation."
She hands Slyvos a key and turns to the mirror, preparing herself to speak with
Barenziah. [245]
Four hours and going.
Dynate poured to an old breton. [246]
Anya sat in the corner
of an offshoot in the cave system. That argonian was still sitting there,
waiting for her even though she had already gotten past. Couldn't he see the
light outside anyway? It's not like it was a hard feat to remain undetected,
anyway, it was a lot easier than before too.
She huddle her legs close. The smell of him intoxicated her, but she couldn't
feed. Something held her back. Anya remembered before now, but it shouldn't
matter to her anymore. They were just cattle, after all. Still, she knew these
people.
Anya pushed these things aside. She couldn't be hurt now, anyway. They could
try if they wanted. She busied herself by watching her hands. She practiced
shaping her claws how she wanted, settling on a curved, dagger design tipping
the last third of each finger. It was difficult to hold long though, and she
snarled in fustration. [247]
Shaka's ears caught the snarl. By the Nine, he thought, surfacing from his
meditation; She's already back.
The battlemage could smell her now, faintly; the smell of animal blood from the
guar combined with a faint echo of Anya's old smell, like opening an old bottle
of musk and forest scents that had dried up. She no longer sweats, he thought
to himself.
"Just you and me now, kiddo," he said. "I can't let you kill the
Barenziah was dressed in an elegant Imperial gown of silver, a color which
matched the steak that wound its way through her hair. Pearls of a similar
color wound their way through her hair as well. It was a very formal ensemble.
Evidentally, there was an important meeting going on in Mournhold.
When she saw Loranna's face, she did not waste time with formalities and
greetings. Evidently, the fact of the Duchess's bad news could easily be read.
"What's happened?" the Queen Mother asked, her eyes wide.
"I'm a one-trick pony, Anya. A few destruction spells, some healing. I
couldn't make you strong like Dayla did."
He sat cross-legged near the entrance to the cave, but managed to face inward.
At least Shaka would be able to see her coming if and when she attacked him.
"Not bad, sunshine," he murmured. Shaka wondered if Anya knew how to
Embrace him, or if he would only be drained to a husk. Not that he wanted to
"I feel badly for you, love," Shaka said. "You can't see the
[294] OOC SUMMARY
Dar'Tessir is in Senchal with Argonian bookseller Reeds Saloat to meet with an
old aquaintance of his who can sell Reeds rare books.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dar'Tessir woke up. It was still dark and probably very early, or very
late and he hadn't slept long. 'Reeds was right to take the floor,' he
thought to himself as he sat up in the lumpy bed and rubbed his back.
He couldn't get back to sleep and decided not to try. Instead he thought
about Senchal. He had lived there all his life, except a few months, and
he wondered why he liked it, his life there hadn't exactly been
wonderful. It seemed to have gotten better, but then, he had always sort
of lived in the slums.

Reeds awoke to a tickling sensation on his snout. Slowly opening his eyes, he
saw a pair of beady black ones staring back at him before the rat to whom they
belongs scurried away.
Not exactly a superb way to start the day. Reeds sat up and stretched, the
floor had taken a number on his back, but not nearly as much as thet lumpy bed
would have. Good, Dar'Tessir's awake.
"Shall we go and meet this friend of yours?" Reeds asked as he pulled
his scabbard from its position across the door. [297]

in news from Firsthold for a while, at least until Goranthir's ... situation
... is resolved," she says. Remembering the last look on Barenziah's
face, she takes a deep breath.
" ... Anyway, Anya's the priority now," she says, a bit more
loudly. She touches the mirror again and says "Shaka; I need to
speak with you."
[367]
Loranna's face had appeared before Shaka. "I'm here, Your Grace," he
said softly. "Reichi, Anya and I are in a cave three miles east of town.
We're still able to talk to her, but we could use your help." [368]
[369] QUOTE(stargate525 @ Dec 20 2005, 07:11 PM)
[370] "Look at me like we're discussing," Reeds asked, needing an excuse to keep his head turned. After a few moments, he responded. "Four of them, all cloaked. Two look to be mer, one might be an Imperial or Breton, and the fourth is definately a Khajiit." He looked a moment longer, and Dar'Tessir could see Reed's eyes widening in fear and surprise, "And those enchantments I mentioned... They're slave bracers."
[372]
Dar'Tessir's stomach fell to the bottom of his legs. He didn't need to ask any
more questions, a group of people stalking an Argonian and a Khajiit holding
slave bracers wasn't hard to interperate.
"Prepare yourself mentally, don't reach for anything or prepare any spells
until they get half as close as they are." Dar'Tessir was worried and it
was audible in his voice. He wasn't much of a fighter, he usually snuck around
his problems. He knew destruction spells and hoped that would be enough. [373]

[382]
Reeds heard the worry in his voice, "Glad to hear this isn't a normal
occurence in Senchal." He discreetly reached his hand to his sword and
loosed it from its scabbard. He was lucky. He didn't know any magic, and so the
bracers would not disable him, though he was ready to assume they were prepared
for seomthing like that.
Not knowing the capacity of Dar'Tessir for fighting, and knowing his all too
well, Reeds began to look ahead of him for places that they could lose the
slavers. A few alleys, no idea if those were dead-end or not... some stairs,
good for defence but not exactly an escape route... Reeds saw something that

This doesn't sound good, Loranna thinks to herself.
"I'll be down in a little bit," she tells Shaka. "We once had a

it. I'll be there in an hour."
Breaking the contact, Loranna sighs, and goes to collect the supplies Slyvos

"Enough, Reichi. And thanks." Shaka decided to take a chance and got

"You're not crazy, Anya. And you were already strong, even before Dayla
got her hooks into you. Remember that it was she who enslaved you all over

Shaka put a hand on the vampire's shoulder. "Loranna's on her way, she'll

Reeds, however, did notice the deficit. Looking around quickly and drawing his
sabre, he saw the two invisible assailants, a bright yellow to him, hiding in a
side alley a mere feet from where he now stood.
"It isn't nice to sneak up on people like that," Reeds said, Bringing
his saber slashing across one of the attackers' chests. [426]
The Imperial had never
felt so much terror coursing through his veins. He fled, Dar'Tessir's move
successful.
The Khajit, however, was ready with a high reflect - something Reeds might have
foreseen - sending the fireball back to its maker.
The Dunmer woman leapt back, shocked that Reeds could see her, and she and her
husband raised their hands to cast spells.
The husband cast a slow-acting Fatiguing spell. [427]

Dar'Tessir dodged but the fireball none-the-less singed his fur. He decided it
was better not to cast any more spells at the Khajiit, and instead cast a small
jump spell on himself, drew his dagger (a cheap iron one) and leapt at the
Khajiit, hoping his skills were enough to overcome the traitor's. [432]

Two young Khajiti males stepped into the alley, watching, with wide, relaxed
smiles on their faces.
"Looks like the slavers don't know who they're dealing with," said
the first of the Khajiit, whose fur was lightly silver in patterns that ran

"Anya, if we get out of this situation I promise I'll try never to

The other attacker, Reeds was not so lucky with. He felt magic hit, and the

some security blanket to hide behind, was it?
Loranna probably wanted to tell her how this was wrong, and wouldn't protect
her, too. She was half tempted to cast a chameleon or invisible spell just to
get everyone to stop looking at her.
QUOTE(Nalion @ Dec 20 2005, 10:33 PM)
[532] "Welcome Loranna, Dram.", Nalion said as he turned towards them. "It is good to see you. I fear, we cannot bring good tidings. Shaka already told you through the mirror, I guess. We are all in danger. And Goranthir's and Anya's current state does not help raise our spirits at all."
[534]
Loranna smiles, her tearstreaks giving her expression a sorrowful cast. "I
know; I just told the Queen Mother of what you all found in Ald Sotha, and of
the calamity that befell Goranthir. My heatfelt thanks to all of you for
everything you've done these past few days."
She turns to Anya, noting that she was wearing Nalion's robe. "Dear, I'm
glad you're back with us; it happens that we have the means to reverse the
change even at this state - this isn't the first time one of our own has been
turned despite themselves."[535]

[539]
Speaking so that only Nalion could hear, Shaka said: "Thank you for giving
your robe to Anya, Nalion. I'm ashamed that I didn't think of being the
gentleman today."
More loudly, he said: "It's good to be back, Duchess, Dram."[540]

[542] Reeds looked around
and shook his head to clear it. Must've been one hell of a spell...
He noticed the two Khajiti near him. "Hello?"
[544]
"Hello," said the brown-woad-painted Khajiit, and there was an
awkward pause as he looked to the silver-furred Khajiit. "You say
something."
"I don't suppose you're interested in a career in slavery, are you?"
asked the silver Khajiit.

The silver-haired Khajiit chuckled at this. "Well, that won't do at all.
Sarcasm in a slave, who'd ever stand for it? No, the thing to do is free
you."
"Is there some legal process we have to go through to do that?" the brown
Khajiit winced. "I'll just keep them if there's too much paperwork."
"I think we can just say 'You're free,'" the silver one replied with
authority. "There, that's done. Why don't you throw your chains over the

"All the better," the silver-haired Khajiit laughed. "So who are
you, and what brings you to Senchal, if not a desire to enter the profitable
and rewarding world of slavedom? I'm Alas, and the handsome fellow over there
is my associate, Alack."
Alack raised his glass to Reeds and smiled, handing Dar'Tessir a glass.
It was excellent. [589]
[590] QUOTE(Xyber02 @ Dec 20 2005, 10:51 PM)
[591] Anya shook her head, hair waving, "Uh-uh, I'm not going back, not now, not yet."
[593]
Dram frowns at Anya, but says nothing. Were Loranna looking at his face,
though, she would see the gears turning in his head - the quiet determination
that action was soon needed.
Loranna, however, was busily looking at Anya's face, seeing for a moment not
the Bosmer-turned vampire, but the innocent young girl that had stood by her in
the Ninth Sphere, the sister to the tortured soul that she had tried to help
see clearly.
A shiver runs down Loranna's spine, as she finds herself seeing another face
reflected in Anya's - a Nordic face, sweet and innocent but wounded inside so
badly she didn't even know it, then offered power ...
"Do you know the price that comes with this power, Anya?" Loranna
asks the Bosmer, her tone bearing no malice, no pre-judgement. Just a simple
question.[594]
Nalion bowed towards
Shaka, and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"It's okay."[595]

[596] Anya shook her head, hair waving, "Uh-uh, I'm not going back, not now, not yet."

Hearing Anya's words, Nalion turned to Loranna with a worried expression.
"She will not be as easy to deal with as Illidan, Loranna.", the mage
whispered. "Please, you're the one with the big heart. I entrust her to
you. I need to talk to some people. We are in grave danger. Ald Sotha is
bustling with soldiers and fabricants as well as those giant crabs. This may
turn the tides of war."
Nalion touched her arm, trying to be encouraging, then gazed for a long moment
at Anya. He closed his eyes briefly, took a deep breath and left the cave.
Outside, Nalion turned his steps towards the shore, looking for someone. Solin.
[599]
Isidor sat at a table in the back of the Nymph, drinking a mead. As the wedding drew closer, Isidor thought back about his life, and other women in his life. Elidilia, who he had left in Skyrim. How had she ended up, after he had left? Were Ty and Til better off with him? He also thought of N'taka, the redguard courtesan. How was she doing? Did she even remember him, one nord, through her numerous clients? He thought, for a moment, of her warm, dark, skin and closed his eyes, thinking back to that day. [600]

"Dar'Tessir really ought to cultivate friends in a better class of
neighborhood," Alas smiled, pouring another round of wine. "Was it
business or pleasure?"
Behind them, a Khajiit female stepped out onto the balcony. She was easily one
of the most beautiful creatures they had ever seen, clad in a tight
tawny-colored dress which matched the color of her skin and hair. She said
nothing, but just shook her head, and poured herself a glass of wine.

The tell tale signs of a dying campfire are the first sign of the Dunmer that

the shore. A netch leather mask lies in the sand at his side and simple
steel-shod staff rests across his lap. He is dressed for combat. [625]

Kethiah finished her meetings with her merchants connections. It was
frustrating. No new news. She stepped downstairs and saw Isidor. She stifled a
laugh at his expression, sitting there with his eyes closed.
Sitting down next to him, she whispered. "What are you thinking of?"

Arynel had left
Goranthir, Reichi, and Shaka shortly before their arrival at Ald Sotha, and
they had not seen any sign of him until now, when he suddenly and inexplicably

Shaka waited to hear Anya's answer, but had begun to despair. The People of the
Root would have known what to call Anya: demon.
What had happened to the Bosmer he had known, the sweetness despite the harsh

Anya's eyes darted around the ground. Her hands gouging the ground where she

There was still something more. Something that could help her. Even with this

She stood up, and faced Loranna, her voice low, "I'll do it." [711]

[713] Anya's eyes darted
around the ground. Her hands gouging the ground where she flexed her claws open
and closed. Still, she hadn't found what she needed. There was still
something more. Something that could help her. Even with this gift, Anya was
still victimized, used.
She stood up, and faced Loranna, her voice low, "I'll do it."
[715]
Loranna smiles, and pulls out a vial. In the background, Dram nods
imperceptibly.
Loranna hands the vial to Shaka. "Would you do the honors dear?" she
asks.[716]
[717] QUOTE(Solin @ Dec 20 2005, 11:04 PM)
[718] "Almsivi's,"
Solin corrected.
"The lie's power will grow, doubtless, but the Clock-maker was not the
only one to raise legions of machines. Anumculi, it is said that there
are some of house Telvanni that can set them to do their bidding."
[720]
Nalion was taken off guard by Solin's correction. Gazing at the sea for amoment,
he thought about what Solin referred to, then the Breton mage looked back at
the Dunmer and smiled.
"Almsivi's Temple.", he confirmed, understanding.
It had been some time that Nalion had thought about the Telvanni. After he had
quit the House during Loranna's Parade and was officially expelled shortly
afterwards, he had had no dealings with the Dunmer Great House.
However, in his time as shopkeeper in Tel Uvirith, there were some rumours
about Telvanni trying to build them.
"Perhaps. My relationship with the Telvanni is not too good though, I
think. But it may be worth pondering the thought. House Telvanni was not very
active in the war so far, though I figure that they have been hit hard. We
might need all the help we can get." [721]

"We must all prepare for what is to come. There is another thing that
troubles my mind. Goranthir. He seems to have been claimed by the King of
Worms. He does not seem hostile towards us for the moment, but still, the

Anya took the vial and drank it's entire contents. Was it supposed to be this
sour?
She didn't know what to expect, but wasn't ready for this. Anya's stomach
flopped inside of her, causing her to double over. She shuddered as her abdomen
cramped and pain shot through her. She dry-heaved, trying to keep the potion

Despite himself, Shaka found himself shutting down emotionally. The gods
really, really don't want me to become human, he thought. Even if I can become

She walked over to Loranna, leaning foward. Her lips hovered near Loranna's

Anya leaned back, and sat in the back of the cave again, a few tears coming out

[813]
Loranna stands very still when Anya moves close enough to bite her, but she
doesn't move away. Her eyes lock with Anya's for a moment ...
"When I was Azura's Incarnate, I had the power to look into other peoples'
minds," she says to Anya quietly. "It took a while for me to realize
why this was a bad thing - and then, I was surrounded by thousands of people,
their thoughts just at arm's length at any time, and several of those minds and
hearts I so dearly wanted to touch and share with ..."
"And some of those people still bear the scars of my touch today."
Loranna looks down at her feet for a moment, then looks back at Anya.
"We'll find the answers, Anya. For you, for Goran, for Morrowind, for all
Tamriel. Someway, somehow, sometime."[814]
An image appeared to
Anya, and only Anya, in the shadows of the cave. A soft-faced young man, with a
bright pink and white complexion, scarcely more than a boy, in a rich robe of
black darker than darkness. His eyes were wholly black as the cloak. On his
head was a spiky crown, each spike a bone.
He had a beautiful guileless smile.
Anya knew it was Mannimarco, and knew too he wasn't present, but in her mind.
He vanished without saying a word.[815]

Shaka finally found tears in his eyes at hearing that. "But it does matter
to me, I . . . "
"I'm sorry, Anya. None of this was your fault. If only I had fought harder
when Dayla and the other vampires appeared."
He lowered his head. She'll never grow old now, he thought. She doesn't feel
hunger, thirst, heat, cold . . . . No reason she should even feel desire, as a
living woman would.
What if she finds the potions a poor substitute for the real thing, and she
starts to kill the people of Ald Raathim? How can I sleep on my land again,
knowing she's out there and could kill me any night of her choosing?
That's not what it's about, is it, he admitted to himself. She just doesn't
need you anymore, if she ever did. She's strong now.
Shaka knew he was being selfish. He would try to fight that weakness within
himself. And there was still a war on; that was more important than Shaka's
petty regrets. [820]
[821] QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Dec 20 2005, 10:13 PM)
[822] Kethiah finished her
meetings with her merchants connections. It was frustrating. No new
news. She stepped downstairs and saw Isidor. She stifled a laugh at
his expression, sitting there with his eyes closed.
Sitting down next to him, she whispered. "What are you thinking of?"
[824]
"Oh," Isidor said, opening his eyes with a start, trying to clear
what he had been thinking of out of his mind. "Nothing, nothing. Just ...

Loranna had frowned when Anya and Shaka spoke, but kept her mouth shut for the
nonce, thinking over how best to word the thoughts in her head. After
everything these two had gone through to finally find a bond of love between
one another, it seemed offensive to think that Anya's ... change ... would
destroy all that.
Then again, Loranna reflected, she herself had been willing to press a lich
against her naked body and shower its skull with kisses, so perhaps she wasn't
the best person to be making judgement of Anya and Shaka. But that didn't stop
Loranna from thinking ...
Anya's outburst caught both Loranna's and Dram's attention, however; Loranna

Dram's hand reflexively grips the hilt of his sword. The Dunmer's expression,
normally calm and reserved, was hardening into a mask of grim resolve.
Loranna gently puts her hands on Anya's shoulders, wishing she could make all
the monsters tormenting Anya just go away.
"Child, child, never fear" Loranna sings quietly, rocking Anya
