The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Playing Houses, Part 29
Posted by: syronj Nov 28 2005, 01:51 AM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
===
Newcomers, we ask you to http://http//www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&st=40&p=2871855&#entry2871855!!
before starting up; everyone will be happier for it. Also,
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737. as soon as
possible; this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html to help you get up to speed, here
is perspective. This summary doesn't cover everything but it sums up some of
the bigger events our campaign has covered. Note: She will probably update and
edit this summary as time goes on.
===
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of
disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character
at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are
encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for
some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is
not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there
for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can, http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP
You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!
===
IMPORTANT: WE HAVE JUMPED SIX MONTHS INTO THE FUTURE; IT IS NOW SECOND SEED IN
THE RP (i.e., May)

Summary for Loranna: Loranna has just had a visitor from Clan
Aundae, warning her that vampires from the west were planning on coming to
Morrowind, and extorting her not to trust the human-seeming, beautiful
monsters. Considering that the vampire, one Gthyon, faded into her bedroom,
bypassing her security measures, and woke her from a sound sleep, the meeting
went remarkably well
Loranna's discussion with Gthyon was cut short by a letter from Mournhold,
which informed Loranna that Queen Dinara has just had Ald Raathim declared a Duchy
of Morrowind, and Loranna is now the Grand Duchess. This news has left
Loranna's jaw on the floor, coming so quickly on the heels of dire portents.
(Incidentally, the proper form of address for a duke or duchess, from what I
can see, is "Your Grace". Just letting you know now, so there's no
confusion )

Councillor Indoril Faryon knows nothing about the Duchy of Ald Raatham yet, but
once he finds out, he will sure be irate... He is, at present, sleeping, like
any good Dark Elf would be doing during the night.
Maranda Biennie is partying somwhere... its best not to ask what shes up to,

ooc: Isidor, male nord, is in the Nymph and the Noggin, lazin'
around.
Ty and Til are doing ... stuff that nordic children do.
Ingmar is somewhere, to be revealed at a later time.

Slashes-With-Claws was back on duty, training the many new
recruits.
Jei-Set casually sits in the Nymph & Noggin, chatting with a pretty
argonian female, a former slave.
A young Dunmer man, Gadave Dres, waits for news he will most likely never hear.
The news of the death of his father's killer. He grows more impatient every
day.

Loranna enters the Nymph and Noggin, dressed somewhat conservatively for her -
a darker green dress with more severe lines than is her usual wont, her hair
pulled back in a simple braid. She holds Dinara's letter in her hand.
" ... We need to talk," she says to Kethiah when the Dunmer woman has
a free moment. "Some stuff has come up."

"Well, I actually had a rather busy night last night," Loranna says.
"Recieved a visitor from Clan Aundre, a well-spoken gentleman who warned
that the western clans were looking toward Morrowind, and Ald Raathim. He
promised to be back. And then, I recieved this." She hands Kethiah the
letter, keeping her face nuetral for the moment so as not to give anything
away.
"Between those and a dead assassin in my jail, it's turning out to be a
busy week ..."

Isidor waved to the two women as they went upstairs. He would've
liked to have heard what was going on, but that was Kethiah's business, not
his.
Isidor was eager to do something; anything. A battle, a raid, something. As
much as he lived his life now, he was an adventurer at heart.

"Seems to be part of Helseth's plan, to change over the traditional power
structure of Morrowind, and reward those he considers loyal. As for the
vampire," she lost her smile. "I don't have much experience in that
world, though it would make sense for there to be revolutions in the shadows.
The Aundae, Quarra, and Berne are part of the old ways, and times are changing.
I'll keep my ears and eyes open."

"One can become paranoid about a great many things," Loranna says,
thinking of Barenziah's words to her some time ago. "I'll read up on the
western clans, whatever material there is to be had at least. In the meantime
... help spread the word among our more adventurous friends to keep their eyes
and ears open too."
"Which leaves me to figure out how to announce the news of our becoming a
duchy without sounding hopelessly self-aggrandizing," she continues,
making a mock face.

The Moonguard nobles didn't have spies in Ald Raathim, but they
kept tabs on the goings on at Daruhn.
When they heard that Loranna had been appointed Grand Duchess, they scoffed. That
barmaid, outranking me? Impossible...
Helseth, it seemed, had lost his mind.

Kratos and Ivelaes are in Molag Mar. The Grandmaster has recently received word

Astien is in Ald Raathim, most likely to be found in the Temple of Dibella.

Kratos sat at his desk, frowning. The news had come too fast for himself to
grasp it. He was planning to attack Telasero, but now a large force was
gathering just beyond his door step. Ald Sotha was not at all too far from
Molag Mar.
There was no other choice but to prepare for battle.

Daeyn fumbled with the many loose parchments and open books littering the
quaint little desk he was occupying in the Mages' Guild Library. Shoving the
many essays and notes into a cloth backpack, he sighed, cleared up the area,
and briskly left the Library. Hopefully the alchemical report was good enough..
The Dunmer made his way through the hall, and was about to enter the foyer when
he heard the voices of the Magister and an unfamiliar voice - perhaps an
Argonian. Always one for peaking through the grape vine and being informed on
everything, he stopped in the hall to fiddle with his travel pack, though this
curious Dunmer's ears were certainly focused...

"Interesting, and this just started happening?" Zadion asked, and
followed up the question with more about Reeds and the symptoms of his
affliction, including his place of birth, the date of his birth. As he asked the

currents of magicka as his spells identified through restoration, alteration,
mysticism, and the old school of thaumaturgy.

Daeyn's eyebrows rose slowly at the unfolding conversation. How
interesting! I've never heard of anything like that...
He edged closer to the semi-shut door, peering through the small opening in
hopes of catching a glance at the Argonian. As quick as he had stepped forward,
he stepped back, hiding himself in the shadows of the low-lit hallway, weary of
the creaky floorboards.

Kratos roused the troops. They were to get ready and meet outside on the

They would prepare for battle now, and lay siege to Telasero by nightfall.

While waiting for word from the Muatramer of possible missions
or quests, Shaka was growing a little bored. He walked to the local Temple, now
New Temple, and talked to the priests there.
Shaka was browsing through their small library when he received special
permission to look through the Temple archives and armory.
Soon he was standing in some awe before a daedric warhammer. An acolyte took
the weapon from its wooden stand and gave it to Shaka to heft.
"Veloth's Judgement," murmured Shaka to himself. Heavy as hell too.
The warhammer had been specially crafted to kill vampires; it was rumored the
Nerevarine had once wielded it in the service of the Temple. Shaka replaced it
with respect.

'When one pens a letter, one must use vermillion ink' she
thought. Vermillion was one of her favorate colours, after all. She begain,
looking over her throne room, ever so finly. Her realm was colourful, but this
room was a simple, gothic interior, the stain glass behind her, however, was
magnificent, the Platinim floors were shiny, the roof covered in a mossac of
art and Magic, 'The simplicities of life' she said simply as she finished the
letter, 'Mortals face strife, they fight for what they believe in. But the sad
thing is, that even once they have gained what they want,' she put the letter
in an envelope, 'After a few years, it falls into war once more,' a seal on the
envelope of her house, and the clap of her hands as a scamp entered the room,
'Deliver this to my dear Maranda, same way as last time'
The scamp took the letter and scampered off
'Drevious, are you there?' she asked
'Yes my mistress' the dark figure of the Daedric Duke appeared from the shadowy
corner
'It is time to finish the mess we created. Prepare to dispatch'

"Here, here," Kethiah laughed, clinking Loranna's glass with one of her own. She rarely drank, but now seemed like a fine time to do so. At least one glass.
Isidor walked over to the women, and with a smile, kissed Kethiah.
"Anything interesting on your news circut?"

He then presented Reeds with a bill. "Sorry, chap, but we have to keep the Guild's profits up."
Feeling somewhat cheated, he paid the magister and began to leave. Sensing eyes
on his back, he spun around in time to see a door close shut. Walking over and
pulling the door open, he was confronted with a dunmer, obviously listening in
at the now open door.
"Enjoy the conversation?"

you're talking about... I was just returning to my quarters." His eyes
darted from his pack, to the floor, to every crevice of the room. Changing the
subject, he judged, was the best way out. "What brings you to the Mages'

Molag Mar
Kratos surveyed his army, gathering supplies, strapping on their armor, and
packing down the siege equipment for travel. There would be bloodshed that
night, lots of it.
The early morning sun was partly being covered by clouds; Ivelaes was helping
his company gather rations for the march. He was nervous, as everyone would be
before marching to battle, but he knew it was for the good of Morrowind.
The Grandmaster made his way down from the canton as he left one of his
commanders in charge of the remaining recruits, soldiers, and the citizens of
Molag Mar. He ordered the lines to be formed as they gathered the last supplies
and finished packing the siege equipment.
The drums and trumpets sounded; the booming sound of many footsteps was heard
as the march was initiated. There would be time before they reached Telasero,
but they would most likely reach it by nightfall if they kept a steady pace.

Sixth House remnants, he mused to himself. I thought they had perished years

"Well that's fine. I guess i'll go tour around for awhile. Maybe i'll see

nodded to him, and left to look around a little more.

Later that day she brought the completed paintings of Anya and Reichi to
Kethiah. To reiterate Anya, Reichi, Goranthir, Isidor, and Kethiah are all on
the Wall now. Diamond doesn't want to do Grand Duchess Loranna or General

Despite his better judgement, Shaka found himself shaking the daedroth's hand.
A cold feeling had settled into the pit of his stomach. "Your spell is
powerful indeed . . . Duke? I find that I can't even put my hand to the Spear
right now, to use against you."
"You speak in riddles. Who is the friend that you must slay? Or is it one

"Have you been given a charge by an even higher daedroth to slay someone?
Don't you have free will enough to refuse?"
Shaka felt the unreality of the situation. The army marched on to Telasero, a
few men and women glancing their way but confident in their numbers.

His strings cut, Shaka sat down on the rock that Drevious had vacated. A
Daedric Duke, he found himself thinking. That must mean he serves a Prince. But
which one? By the Nine, that's a high rank . . . .
He spoke aloud to himself. "A metaphor, chasing two hares . . . He doesn't
care about my personal life, that was stupid for me to assume that. Drevious is
referring to the battle ahead, at Telasero, no doubt." But Shaka couldn't
put the pieces together yet.

A glorious new chapter in Ald Raathim's history begins!
By decree of the King Helseth and Queen Dinara, Ald Raathim is henceforth a
Duchy of Morrowind, taking its place among the other duchies. This is a
tremendous honor for our fair city, a testement to the indominable spirit of
Ald Raathim's citizens; through our hard work and steadfast courage, our humble
home has become one of the true shining lights in the providence.
With the new appointment comes new changes; Lady Dres Loranna Pyrel is now the
Grand Duchess of Ald Raathim, new forts shall be built to better protect our
people from bandits and the forces of Redoran and Indoril, new trade and
culture over and above what we have already shall add to our prosperity. A
celebration shall be held in honor of the occasion.
Again, we have shown that no matter what, we will continue to survive and
thrive. Even in times of war, the people of Ald Raathim tirelessly build a new
and bright future, shining bright to remind the world what good men and women
are capable of achieving when they try.

Molag Amur Region: Just outside of Telasero
Kratos ordered the army to halt as Telasero came into view. They were facing
the eastern wall, out of range from magicka and arrows. They began to set up
the siege equipment; Ivelaes eyed their defenses, noting the many battlemages
that dotted the ramparts on top of the fortress. Many young men filled the ranks,
sons of the veterans that had fought at Molag Mar. Ones that wanted revenge for
their siblings' lost lives. There would be much bloodshed, on both sides.
Kratos sent a messenger to Anya. She was to take as many men as she needed to
try and circle around to the western wall, undetected, where the stronghold was
less defended. They could then use the ladders to raise themselves to the
battlements.
Kratos' mind was full of tactics, but this one seemed to be the most able to
work. The clouds would help as well; Masser and Secunda were completely masked
by them. It would be hard to spot even a large force, if they managed to stay
quiet and far enough away from the fortress until they could make it to the
wall.
The time would come to attack, but there was still some time to prepare before
then.

Battle for Telasero
The lines were formed; mere minutes passed by before Kratos sent a small number
of scouts with magick and archery skills in to test their strength. He frowned
as he was told they couldn't get very far without having a hail storm of arrows
and spells cast at them.
He ordered the giant wooden shields be placed in front of the ranks; they could
stop arrows, but not magicka. Kratos wanted to avoid as much bloodshed as he
could, but a charge was the only way to distract them long enough for Anya to
get her force around to surprise them.
The charge was issued. The frontlines ran forward followed by the others.
Ivelaes gripped his sword tightly as he charged forward with his father. A
volley of arrows went forth; most ended up in the shields, others plunged
themselves into the bodies of Muatramer. They were close to the walls now, but
not close enough to get at the defenders.
The battle had begun, the battle for time.

Anya motioned for a few Muatramer to bring her climbing rope. Smiling at Shaka,
she looped the ropes around her belt and cast a Jump spell, followed by
Invisible. "See you at the top, honey. I'll give the ropes a few tugs when
you can send everyone climbing, wait for me when you get up there, all of

Bunching her legs, she lept to the top of the battlements, nearly overshooting.
She slew the sentry that patroled this section, and quickly tied the ropes and
jerked them. She crept along the battlements a little ways, making sure no
other sentries would find them as the Muatramer made their way up.

Shaka had blackened those parts of his armor that weren't already ebony. He
held off on using the Amulet of Shadows for now. The Argonian levitated to the

Five Indoril and Redoran battlemages patrolled not too far away from where they

Kratos urged his Muatramer on; finally a ladder managed to touch the wall and
go up. The enemy reacted fast, doing damage to ladder at their fullest extent.

She quickly issued some orders, keeping her eyes on the Redoran. "Keep hidden, I want five troops with me, and five with Shaka. Don't do anything to give yourselves away. Search for high ranking officers, essential supplies, and information, in that order. Don't do anything unless you have positive confirmation, there are too few of us to openly attack. Now go."
Shaka signaled the direction he was going to take, and activated the Amulet of
Shadows. The rest of his squad followed suit with chameleon spells or amulets.
Soon a half-dozen ripples could be seen moving down the stone corridor, if the
watchers knew where to look.
Shaka's nerves were on edge as they headed down into the fortress and began
checking rooms; the stronghold felt claustrophobic, as if sentries could appear
from around any corner.
As they began systematically clearing rooms, the squad found itself dispatching
low-level warriors and hiding the bodies. No officers of note had yet been
found, and the clock was running.

As the forward regiment was begging to break, Mr. Winston
ordered his company forward, to fill the gap. Arrows and magikca whizzed by, a
greater fireball bursted directly on a wooden shield, Mr. Winston and some men
were taking cover in, leaving embers and splinters airborne. The impact
prostrated Mr. Winston, but like a true commander he got to his feet and “Forward!”
he issued.

Reeds was in the Nymph and Noggin, celebrating for the second

figured out how to control the colors.
In a fit of good cheer, he ordered a round for the whole bar.

Many Muatramer fell courtesy of arrow and spell fire. Kratos couldn't do much
but cast a fortify strength spell on a few Muatramer around him. A few more
ladders went up as the first collapsed due to fire spells.

Kratos motioned the rest of his troops with his sword. They spread out and
waited for the enemy to emerge from the depths of the fortress.
The enemy emerged from the door. They poured out onto the fortress. The
Muatramer immediately pounced on them. Swords swinging, blows glancing off of
shields; the shear force of the Muatramer was too much, their numbers too
great. The door only allowed a few to come out at a time, this was an advantage
for Kratos, they began to push them back.

Shaka's spear was a blur as he slashed into the enemy, standing with the

Anya must still be with their officers, thought the battlemage. As they emerged
into the upper floor of the fortress, Shaka shouted "Fire in the Hole!"
and sent a Greater Fireball exploding down the length of the hallway. Most of
the Redoran and Indoril failed to reflect it, and the Muatramer were prepared
for the spell.
The air was sucked from everyone's lungs for a moment, and many of the foe had
become human torches. Shaka helped the Muatramer to give them a faster and
perhaps more merciful end.
The battle stayed hand to hand, sword and mace; archery wasn't called into
play.

hallway. Most of the Redoran and Indoril failed to reflect it, and the
Muatramer were prepared for the spell.
The air was sucked from everyone's lungs for a moment, and many of the foe had
become human torches. Shaka helped the Muatramer to give them a faster
and perhaps more merciful end.
The battle stayed hand to hand, sword and mace; archery wasn't called into
play.
The Redoran and Indoril force was no match for the large numbers of Muatramer
pouring down the tight hallway. Spells were cast, men lost their lives. They
were falling fast.
The force crumbled; some tried to turn and run back into the depths of the
fortress, The Muatramer didn't allow it. They continued the onslaught until the
threat was finally over. The enemy stragglers were mopped up and given quarter
if they surrendered.
A loud cheer echoed up through the stronghold which led to cheer outside. The
day had been taken by the Muatramer. They still had the strange Sixth House
leads to follow, but the battle was over.

Shaka leaned on the Spear to catch his breath, then moved to help heal the
wounded, both Muatramer and enemy.
Now to find Anya and her squad.

Reeds had finished celebrating and was thinking. He was sick of
adventure for now, and his purse wouldn't be full much longer if he kept
staying here without a job. This town was nice enough, and there didn't seem to
be too much competition in the same area...
Reeds decided to try and open another bookstore.
But for that, he would need money, and quite a bit of it. He didn't know anyone
with that much cash to spare, short of buisnessmen, bankers, tavern owners,
adven....
Tavern owners, hmm.
Walking up to the bar, he asked for Isidor, saying that he had a 'buisness
proposition' for him.

Telasero; Day after the battle
The fight went well for the Muatramer. Many had been lost, but it wasn't as
devastating as the aftermath of the Battle at Molag Mar. The bodies were
gathered and given burials; prisoners were locked down in the lower levels of
the stronghold, to be transported to Mournhold or another prison site later.
Some would be traveling to Molag Mar with the Muatramer.
Some remaining Sixth House creatures had been found in the fortress and
exterminated. There were probably more, but they would be found none the less.
Kratos had garrisoned a portion of his army at Telasero, leaving the command in
Commander Winston's hands. He believed that Winston would be able to handle it.
Kratos would check in again, but for now he would have to return to Molag Mar.
The remaining Muatramer army formed their lines. The victory theme was sounded
and they began the march home.
Ooc:If your char participated in the battle and you want them back
in Molag Mar, assume they're on the march as well.

Mr. Winston watched as the main army left the stronghold Telasero, the sun was
setting in, a beautiful site up from the battlements. He turned around to one
of his lieutenants.
“Numbers?” He asked
“Around 200 strong, maybe more, sir.”
“Good…” Mr. Winston turned his head, inspecting the stronghold from the
distance “Let’s restore the defenses lieutenant, gather all the enemy weapons
and replenish supplies.”
The young lieutenant was nodding as he jotted down some notes.
“Don’t take any notes, just get it done.”
“Right.”
Mr. Winston was a simple minded man, his age was getting to him on the
battlefield but he was a great mental commander. Always making sure the troops
were faring well.

Telasero;
Day after the battle
The remaining Muatramer army formed their lines. The victory theme was sounded
and they began the march home.
Shaka headed east with the others to Molag Mar. He was a little quiet, thinking
of the Sixth House remnants they had wiped out. Shaka had never explored a
Sixth House lair during the years Dagoth Ur had been alive; few did and lived
to tell the tale. He had gone through an abandoned cave once, months after the
Nerevarine had cleaned it out.
The Sixth House was disturbing to Shaka. More unnatural even than vampires or
necromancy . . . . At least vampires kept many of the trappings of humanity.
The cultists destroyed by Nerevar Reborn had vountarily given up all their
possessions, even clothing, in the name of Dagoth Ur.
The ash slaves slain at Telasero weren't in the same league as days gone by, as
far as Shaka could judge. But the images from their lair would take a long time
to get out of his head.
Shaka glanced at a box travelling on a Muatramer wagon. He had even found a
Sixth House bell hammer. Shaka planned to take it back to Ald Raathim instead
of donating it to Molag Mar.
The columns trudged east, the Inner Sea to their right. Suran lay west of
Telasero, but had gone unvisited by the expeditionary force. Shaka still didn't
know how much was left of that once-scenic coastal town, presumably buried in
rivers of mud or ash by Red Mountain's eruption. Suran was probably rebuilding,
as Vivec City and so many other places were attempting.

The Muatramer army passed over the bridge; cheering was heard throughout the

Kratos' mind was still on the army gathering at Ald Sotha. He would need to

wouldn't hold up if the spiy's information was correct.
Kratos and his son made their way to Anya, Telera, and Shaka.
