The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Playing Houses
Posted by: Stargazey Nov 7 2005, 03:21 PM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
===
Newcomers, we ask you to http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855
before starting up; everyone will be happier for it. Also, read http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737
as soon as possible; this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.
To help you get up to speed, here is
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html told from my character Loranna's
perspective. This summary doesn't cover everything but it sums up some of the
bigger events our campaign has covered. Note: I will probably update and edit
this summary as time goes on.
===
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of
disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character
at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are
encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for
some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is
not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there
for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP
You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!
===
IMPORTANT: WE HAVE JUMPED SIX MONTHS INTO THE FUTURE; IT IS NOW RAIN'S
HAND/SECOND SEED IN THE RP (i.e., April/May)

Falco Redflash, male argonian rogue, is currently discussing his
upcoming trial with his lawyer, Cadus Calogus.
Eats-With-Claws, male argonian warrior, is in Mournhold, hoping the trial and
subsequent execution are to be public.
Hlaalu Zainab Ondave Yasulnabbi Redflash, male Dunmer swordsman, is currently
in Falco's old bandit hideout in the Ascadian Isles, awaiting the end of the
war.

Summary for Loranna:
Loranna is in Ald Raathim, having recently participated in the battle at Molag
Mar - a act which caused her husband Slyvos no end of anger and worry. The two
of them talked, in which Loranna revealed the prophecy Sheogorath told her
prior to the battle - that she would bury two she loved most dear - and that
even after ll this time she still tries to be Superwoman to compensate for her
earlier actions under Azura's influence. She has agreed to stop taking part in
battles while still pregnant, and to find someone to apprentice in the healing
arts.

Dar'Tessir, male Khajiit nightblade, is in the nymph where he has just spent
his last coin on cyrodiilic brandy and is reading a noted and ear-marked book

Slashes-With-Claws was in his quarters. His armor was being
cleaned and repaired. He sat contemplating the recent battle.
A few years ago when he still served in the argonian army he would not have
cared weather any of the dunmer lived or died, though he would have prefered
died.
Now that he had commanded a group of them into battle and watched them die he
felt sorrow at their deaths. He realized that he no longer thought of them as
dunmer. He thought of them as what they were, his men. It ws not just dunmer
and other races that died in the battle, it was his men that he was commanding,
dieing on his orders. He had changed much in the past few months.
He put on his light armor set and went out to the bar. Perhaps he would see Tsei
there. They could plan their dinner.

Summary
Goranthir, Prince of Firsthold, is still undercover in Vivec, investigating the
false Tribunal's true identities. He has witnessed the riot in Vivec, which was
then put down by Almalexia.
Helseth is returning to Mournhold from his successful invasion of Hla Oad to
commence the trial of Falco Redflash.
Kethiah, the ex-assassin and now co-proprietor of the Nymph and Noggin, is at
her tavern talking to her former lover and -- it is revealed -- half-brother of
her current fiance, Ingmar.
QUOTE(Stargazey @ Nov 7 2005, 04:21 PM)
Ingmar had his eyes closed, and looked up, startled, when Kethiah spoke. "Oh, yes. It was terrible. More bloodshed then I've ever seen, or hope to see. And that was before Almalexia showed up."
"The reports I heard were not exaggerated then, I hoped they were,"
Kethiah said softly. "Do you want to be alone?"

(OOC:)
Isidor, male nord, is somewhere in the Nymph and Noggin.
Tyradil and Tilitalia are doing schoolwork.
Tsei is ... (more on this later).
Ingmar, Isidor's half brother, and ex-lover of Kethiah is, talking with
Kethiah.

"No," Ingmar said, looking down at his feet, "no, I want to be
around someone. That battle," he said, shifting in his seat, "it made
me feel so cold. I can't describe it."

Oblivion come to Nirn. I'm glad you want to talk about it, though," She
smiled a little. "You and your brother both have a tendency to drink

OOC summary
Reichi Sari has returned from the bloodly bloody battle of molag mar, and is
currently cleaning both him, his armor, and weapons. Which is quite a chore, as
Reichi managed to get himself soaked to the point where he'd probablly still
small faintly of blood even after washing.

Falco's cell in Mournhold
Cadus and Falco finished going over the documents in front of them.
"So Cadus, you really think we can win with this defense?"
"Any fair trial would have you win with it. But I'm not going to lie to
you Mr. Redflash, I sincerely doubt this is going to be a fair trial."
"I know.....I know.... Thank you Cadus. Thank you, for all you've done to
help me."
"You're welcome Mr. Redflash, I'll see you at the trial."
He gathered up the documents and left the cell, wich the guard subsequently
closed and locked. Falco crossed his arms and waited, humming silently to
himself.

Summary: Shaka, an Argonian battlemage, has finished a
conversation with Telera in which he told her his plans for the offering to
Dibella. Telera has reminded him that although she changed gender seven months
previously, she still loves Anya as a man.
Shaka returned to Ald Raathim with his gear bag. Although there would be a
lengthy waitlist, he needed to give his assorted armor to the Nord, Longhammer's
forge for repairs.

After having a drink of Flin Slashes decides he need some
relaxation, something to get his mind off the battle. He heads to the shore and
walks untill he can no longer see the city. He sheds his armor, he never wore
anything under it, and dives in the water.
As he swims he sees a fish and gives chase. Catching it, he then eats it. It
had been a while since he had fished like this before.
After chasing fish for a while and eating his fill he returns to the beach to
sun himself, his body and mind both refreshed and envigorated.

The three members of the Tribunal to judge Falco Redflash were Hlaluu Llethan
Barreth, a distant cousin of the King's representing trade, Deacon Holare
Niris, representing the Temple, and, representing the crown, the Queen of
Morrowind, Dres Dinara. The Tribune had their chairs in front of the accused.
The King sat in his throne behind them, observing the proceedings.
"On the grounds of treason, murder, rape, piracy, extortion, and
conspiracy, how does the accused plea?" Queen Dinara asked.

another, and since there is no evidence of this crime I move that it
immediately be removed from the list of accusations. Since he is not a citizen
of Morrowind, and he never swore any loyalty to you or any house, any act of

Dane felt hungry for blood, fresh blood that is.After the battle at Molag Mar
he feasted well on fallen Redoran and Indoril soldiers, though he didn’t want
the others to know. He climbed all the way up on one of the spiral towers of
the castle and looked down upon the city of Ald Raathim, Dane could easily see
the people doing there daily commutes. He had a thought that he couldn't get
away from his mind…No, no I shan’t do that he tought. It had almost been
year since he turned into this…this thing. Yet he still could not live with the
sins that were brought upon him.

Cadus nodded to him and walked a few steps closer to the Tribunal. He began his
case, "Let us begin at the beginning. Falco Redflash is a privateer, a
mercenary of the sea. He attacked mostly war supply ships, although the
occasional merchant ship was also attacked. Of this there can be no denial, as
I have the official reports of all those ships attacked right here." He
held up several documents. "They're quite genuine (wich they indeed were).
He was hired to attack these ships by house Redoran. I'm afraid I do not have
the official contract of their deal with me today, as it was lost along with
his ship when it sunk. But I'm sure the Redoran have a copy. So, unless we gain
that copy I cannot prove their involvement. But I believe that we can accept
said deal as a given.
Tell me, your honors, on a purely hypothetical basis If you have a prisoner of
war, do you execute him simply for his involvement with the side of you
enemies? Or do treat him or her with civility, dignity, and mercy that you

QUOTE(Argonians rule @ Nov 7 2005, 07:38 PM)
Cadus
nodded to him and walked a few steps closer to the Tribunal. He began his case,
"Let us begin at the beginning. Falco Redflash is a privateer, a mercenary
of the sea. He attacked mostly war supply ships, although the occasional
merchant ship was also attacked. Of this there can be no denial, as I
have the official reports of all those ships attacked right here." He held
up several documents.
Tell me, your honors, on a purely hypothetical basis If you have a prisoner of
war, do you execute him simply for his involvement with the side of you
enemies? Or do treat him or her with civility, dignity, and mercy that you
expect your own men and women to be treated with, should they be
captured?"
"Our spies kill themselves upon being captured," King Helseth said,
still frowning. "How much civility, dignity, and mercy our enemies show to
their corpses is not the question today, though there is ample evidence that
your client is not a great example of mercy in that regard himself."
"Is the Advocate finished with his case?" the Queen asked.

Prisoners of war. Men and women who put their lives on the line for your
cause. Would you not want them to be treated with civility and mercy? Do
you care nothing for them?
Before you answer these questions, I believe my client has something going for
him in the aspect of mercy. He himself is a follower of Stendarr, anf when he
told me 'that any who asked for his mercy during those attacks recieved it.' I
believed him. Now I know you have little faith in the truth of his words, but I

He held up several more documents.
"These are the records of the crewmembers of all those ships attacked. I
will now begin reading them:
The crew of the Ocean breezer, 36 set out on last voyage. 32 corpses
found on wrecked ship.
The crew of the Winged Steed 42 set out on last voyage. 37 corpses
found.... [Cadus continued in this manner until all of the ships had been
mentioned.] Now, the question probably on you mind is 'where did the missing
crewmen go?' Well, according to my client they asked for mercy and were turned
over to the Redoran as prisoners of war the next time he took his ship to port.
My client does not know what became of them after that. Now, I cannot prove
that he didn't simply throw them overboard. But I can say for sure that him
sparing their lives is most surredly in the range of possibilities."
The two of them awaited their reaction.

"The defendant will remember the rules of the court and not address those who disrupt the proceedings," said Hlaluu Barreth. "And the Advocate will remember that we will direct the guards, not he. If the woman will restrain herself from further outbursts, she may stay. As for the motion for the witness, it is granted. Please proceed."
Cadus nodded and Falco hurredly whispered something in his ear. Then Several
guards brought forth one of Falco's crew. He was a Dunmer, age: 129. Cadus
began to question the pirate, who was missing half his teeth (the other half
were a greenish color),
"Mr. Odiln Hauald, are you aware that you are under oath to tell the full
and total truth?"
"Aye."
"Are you also aware of what happened to those aboard the ship that were
killed, and those that begged for mercy."
"Aye"
"Please tell the court all you know on the subject."
"Well, the cap'n always said ta' the crew that we wuz ta' spare the lives
of any that asked for mercy. When we dropped ancha' a' a port we gave 'em ta
the Red'eran. Those that he killed were done in durin' batul'. I can promice

"Dar'Tessir
is fine," he had forgotten his custom of saying "I" again, too
many introductions to remember.
He wondered if they had noticed his eyes, he was self concious of their size
and unusual color (light purple) for a khajiit.
Loranna's own eyes were a lovely shade of blue, and marked by silver
tearstreaks which traced paths down her ashen cheeks. In the light of the
tavern, they gave her expression an ethereal sense of sorrow, even though her
lips and eyes were smiling as she turned to Dar'Tessir.
"Well met, friend; I'm Dres Loranna Pyrel of Ald Raathim. Welcome to our
fair city," she says. "What bends your steps to our lands, may I ask?
Or are you simply passing through and enjoying a warm meal and good company
while you rest?"
She gave everyone else a friendly smile, noting the marks of the recent battle
on the faces of several people; her eyes linger on people for a brief second as
she says quiet prayers asking the Nine to give her friends strength.

Turning to Dar'Tessir, Nalion spoke up.
"I may have something for you. I've spend some time at the school and
helped build it. The headmistress recently complained to me that she hasn't got
enough teachers to care for all pupils who have to make their studies. She
asked me to keep my ears open for someone who could watch them while doing
their reading excercises, so that the teachers can actually hold lessons in

"Dar'Tessir, would be glad to take this job. He also asks how old are the
children? He has not much experience with caring for ja'Khajiit. He also needs

But, you know, the next time someone is looking for a quest, you could send them into wartorn northern Vvardenfell, into the Dwemer ruins below my old cottage, and have them retrieve a couple of my old weapons. I'd certainly pay them for it."
"That could even be a gift to you, Kethiah. What do they look like?"

Loranna raises her eyebrows. "So that's why you picked that spot to make a
garden," Loranna says. "I was wondering why you'd try to grow
anything up there ..."
She gives Isidor a quick glance, half-grinning.
"Speaking of adventuring," Loranna says, with a rueful smile to
Nalion, "this last battle has driven home a point to me; a pregnant woman
has no business being in the middle of danger like that. I think it's high time
I started training someone to cover healing duties for our merry band of
heroes, least while I'm out of action."

"Like I said, your presence will be more than gift enough," Kethiah

open unless he's particularly skilled in lockpicking or has an unlock spell of
great power ... I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't a few corpses around
the chest if anyone already tried to raid that ruin."
She stood up to get Tsei a drink, as the barmaids seemed to be particularly

The Breton took a sip from his ale, then nodded in return to Loranna's comment

War was a terrible thing, he reflected simply. He dipped his
toes gently into the waters of the sea and dug his heels into the sand.
He picked up a handful of rocks from the surrounding beach and wrapped his
fingers around them, and he squeezed until he bled, and as he bled he wept, and
his tears and blood washed into the waves...
Nothing would be the same now. Maybe Marein Nightscar was the most susceptible
to war-related trauma after his experiences in the Twilight, but Molag Mar had
hit him hard. With a frustrated scream, he hurled his new dagger out into open
water and watched it drop under - but when he pulled out the old Daedric, still
stained with Celeste's blood, he could not bring himself to throw it away.
As much as he had come to hate war, he realized, it would always be a part of
him. He didn't want to play anymore, but he loved the game. It was like
gambling; everything you lose hurts, but when you win...you win.
Sheathing the dagger, he walked away from the beach.
Presently he arrived at the Nymph and the Noggin and was brought up to speed on
wedding plans.

Shaka sat down near Anya. "After what we saw at Molag Mar, I believe it.
But I wonder why. . . . For that matter, I wonder sometimes what the Daedra
worshippers have been up to, these past six months. Would they see the civil
war as an opportunity to grow stronger, or are they running for cover? Or
what?"
He addressed these speculations to Loranna and the others, but saw that the

Mournhold
Falco lay on the bedroll of his cell, unable to sleep. He had been thinking
about all of those he caed about, all of those he wanted to see before he died.
The argonian sighed and thought of two people in particular. The two people he
loved. He had left his son with some departing words, but they were rushed as
he didn't have much time when he said them. The other person he had lied too.
Lied to because he was a selfish villain. He never told them that he loved
them. Now, it seemed to be too late. Falco silently cursed Helseth. He wished a
fate on the king worse than death. He hoped, more than anything that Helseth
could feel his pain.
Eats-With-Claws lay asleep in the winged guar, having watched the trial the
previous day. He hoped to come to this each part of the trial until his son was
executed, like the shameful creature deserved.

Ingmar walked over to Kethiah, and said, in a voice barely above a mumble,
"I can't work here anymore. I thought I could, but I can't. Whatever ...

QUOTE(Argonians rule @ Nov 8 2005, 02:38 PM)
Falco lay on the bedroll of his cell, unable to sleep. He had been thinking about all of those he caed about, all of those he wanted to see before he died. The argonian sighed and thought of two people in particular. The two people he loved. He had left his son with some departing words, but they were rushed as he didn't have much time when he said them. The other person he had lied too. Lied to because he was a selfish villain. He never told them that he loved them. Now, it seemed to be too late. Falco silently cursed Helseth. He wished a fate on the king worse than death. He hoped, more than anything that Helseth could feel his pain.
The trial of Falco Redflash began early the next morning, as before, with the
three members of the judicial Tribune (Hlaluu Llethan Barreth, Deacon Holare
Niris, and Queen Dinara) present. The King was also present, glowering.
“I believe the Advocate was about to call the Defendant to the stand?” said
Queen Dinara. “Unless there were other witnesses?”

Cadus nodded and the questioning of the defendent began,
"Mr. Redflash, did you ever engage in the practice of piracy in any waters
under the jurisdiction of the king. Or under the jurisdiction of any of his
vassals."
"Privateering. Not sure if that counts as piracy. I'm not sure if thats
illegal or not."
"What about the act of murder?"
"It was a time of war, they were enemy crews. Since when is killing one's
enemies in wartime illegal?"
"I don't believe it is against the law, Mr. Redflash. After all, we don't
charge soldiers with murder because they killed other soldiers in battle. So,
did you kill any soldiers off the field of battle."
"No."
"Did you ever engage in the action of espionage?"
"Espionage to me is the illegal acquisition of intelligence from another.
What most may call spying. If that is what you mean by espionage, then no I
never acquired or passed on any information to the Redoran."
"What of extortion and theft? Did you not take the cargo of those ships
you attacked for yourself?"
"That is the spoils of war. As far as I know, taking your enemy's
possessions after you have defeated them in battle is quite legal. In fact, it
seems to be one of the major benefits of conquest."
Cadus smiled and looked to the tribunal, "Care to question the defendent
your honors?"

Yilier entered the town of Ald Raathim with slow steps, his cane
making constant *knock* *knock* sounds. Right after he complained to himself
about his back, he looked at the city in which he hadn't been in for so many
years. "This isn't your typical Dres city, nah, nah!" - he thought.
There was a crowd of people walking around, carrying goods or just hanging
around, but what surprised Yilier the most was the race of some of these folks:
Khajiit and Argonian - these would have never been found in such abundance the
years before slavery was supposely abolished. Their presence gave him the
shivers, as he wasn't too used to being in the presence of "beast races".
"It's the tails" - he said to himself. "They are creepy".
He continued to walk for a while, looking for a tavern - or some other
establishment - where he could have some food. He was starving. He looked
around, looking for some sort of sign that would show him where to find one,
but to no avail. Finally, he decided, as a last resort, to ask someone. He saw
a beautiful dunmer lady, who put on a face of discontent when she saw the
dunmer old man approaching her.
"S'cuse me, muthsera, do you know where an old man such as me could find
somewhere to eat?"
She let out a "Sure" with a fake face of happiness, and pointed:
"The Drunken Guar's over there, serjo."
"Well, thank you, sera! I even like the name!" - Yilier said, as he
walked away.
sHE wIlL BE deAd iN An yEAr - the voices said.
Yilier looked at the woman, sobbed, and proceeded to the Drunken Guar.

Cadus spoke then, "Just one thing, your honors. The Killing of T'Zar, legal or not, did not occur within your territory. Since this is neither an imperial trial nor a local trial of Winterhold, you hold no authority there. I move that this even be discounted from the trial totally and completely." He awaited their response.
"The King is the Emperor's official representative in Morrowind, and as
such this is an Imperial trial," said Helseth calmly. "Anything
else?"

A dunmer man enters the tavern. He's anti-social and has a hard
time interacting with people. His family was brutally slaughter. He carries a
Deadric Curaiss of Fortify Cooking, and a large four foot butcher knife and a
hooded cloak to cover his unusual eyes.
As he walks in, he promptly punches the nearest bar-worker, to show how capable
he is so the leading party of this town will hire him. Despite the fact he's
more likely to get arrested. Turning to Isidor, he says, "I need work. I
cook good."
Before Isidor answers, the dumner Bob speaks up again with angst etched on his
impassive face, "I lost my entire family to assassins that I track. Now
I'm heartless. As I watched my sister, whom shall remain nameless, was brutally
hurted lots. Now I'm anti-social. My traveling companions whom I've all fallen
in love with have all met horrible deaths. It has hardened me from ever caring.
I see a pretty barmaid named Cidala, and now wish to pursue a relationship.
Excuse me."

Yilier thanks the argonian as he goes on duty, and then enters
the tavern. He looks up: there's a sign reading "Noggin". When he
enters the tavern, he stands at the door entry for a few seconds for a while.
When he realises no one is looking at him, he lets out mutter of disappointment
and heads to the counter.
"Bartender! I need something to entertain myself with before that
Commander Sit gets back... I mean a mead."

It was many months ago. I was asleep aboard my ship, The Sea Skimmer. We
were on a routine delivery of mead to Dagon Fel when we were attacked. At first
all I knew was that we were being attacked by pirates. It was chaos and
confusion. Men and women screamed as they were cut down by
that....that...MONSTER!" here he pointed at Falco, "and his crew of
brutes! I saw the unarmed try to run from him. He would toss them a sword and
tell them to fight him. These were merchants not soldiers. We didn't stand a
chance." Here he stopped and shuddered, obviously unnerved, "Then I
felt a blow to my head and blacked out. I came to the next morning, bound with
six of my crewmen, all the survivors. He smiled at me. Smiled! He laughed a bit
as though killing people was some kind of joke to him! He then told me and my
men that we were being spared. That animal, for that is the only thing that
describes such a murderer, told us to swim to shore, wich we did. We all made
it and reported this incident to Imperial authorities." Here he shuddered
again and his face seemed paler. "Thats all, your honors."

"Quite a few people have asked for a moment of the court's time,"
said Berrath. "Too many, in fact, for us to give them all the time they
deserve. I would ask that each of these family members of alleged victims of
the Defendant confine their comments to one minute or less."
So began a horrible parade, more horrible because the individuality of the
persons slaughtered by the Butcher was made evident by the individuality of the
speakers. Most were tearful described their lost loved ones, some to the point
of incoherence. Others were angry, screaming at the defendent, calling him all
sorts of names -- a few of these had to be dragged away from court by the
guards. A few were calm, having come to peace with their loved one's death, but
wishing to have their voice heard by the murderer. There were even a few who
asked their King to be forgiving, hoping not to add blood to blood.
It took the better part of two hours for all to be heard who wished to be heard
in the matter, and there was hardly a dry eye in the court.
"Is there anything more than needs to be said before the Tribune adjourns
to reach its decision?" asks the King, looking to the Advocate and Falco.

She shook her head, and waited for the verdict.
