The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Playing Houses
Posted by: Loranna Oct 29 2005, 03:09 AM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
===
Newcomers, we ask you to http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855
before starting up; everyone will be happier for it Also,
read http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737 as soon as
possible; this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.
To help you get up to speed, here is
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html told from my character Loranna's
perspective. This summary doesn't cover everything but it sums up some of the
bigger events our campaign has covered. Note: I will probably update and edit
this summary as time goes on.
===
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of
disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character
at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are
encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for
some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is
not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there
for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP
You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!
===
IMPORTANT: WE HAVE JUMPED SIX MONTHS INTO THE FUTURE; IT IS NOW
RAIN'S HAND IN THE RP (i.e., April)

Isidor, male nord, is in the Nymph and Noggin, drinking and talking with the group, after finding out that Falco was the Butcher of the Bay, and bringing him to justice.
Nalion quietly amused himself about the captain of these Muatramer, another
event that he had apparently missed. The name of these soldiers forced him to
hide a wide grin by scratching his chin.
The mage turned to Doll and Loranna. "I think I'll leave you two for a bit
of girl talk and fetch myself a drink.", he said with a wink. Before
leaving for the bar, Nalion bowed down to Doll's ear and whispered "Coming
back for you soon.". He left, leaving a soft kiss on her cheek.
At the bar, he chose red wine for a drink and spotted Isidor. Sitting down next
to him with a smile, he greeted his friend.
"You're looking very well, Isidor. Looks like you and Kethiah are very
happy. I'm very glad for you. How are Tyradil and Tilitalia?"

there are events that are sad and sorrowful, I would be so much poorer if I
were not here."
"Much time has passed, but I see you were quite successful! I like the

through thick and thin, risked his own life for the sake of Ald Raathim and
Lady Loranna. Turned out to be a complete scum; he was banished from Ald
Raathim for repeated stealing offenses and responded by going pirate, killing
our own, and spearing their bodies for the world to see. He's been beaching
ships with corpses tacked on for months anonymously. Fate finally caught up
with him, though..."
Face twisted, Marein stared off into the distance.

In the northern area of solstheim
Ki'airre recalled to the ruins of a black tower weathered by time and the
blizzards of solstheim. Ki'airre studied the tower for awhile until a shape
appeared from the tower entrance. The gondolier type helm and the cloak with
the symbol of the nightmare was the trademark of the soldiers Ki'airre once
commanded.
"Stormsurge, what is going on? I thought all the Seekers were killed in
the siege of Zeig's tower." Ki'airre was clearly happy that a few of his
soldiers survived, but something was amiss and he knew it.
Stormsurge was a typical seeker with a large height and broad shoulders.
"my lord we did not expect you, if we did then the construct would be
ready."

The Dunmer nodded. "Thank you, it is an honor to be able to help you run
your company."
Alexi looked at him more carefully. "I bet, but I warn you, if I find out
you are skimming anything off the top then you won't even have to worry about
being arrested. Now, get started."
The Dunmer nodded and walked off. Alexi sighed and relaxed in his chair. That
was the last of them. Everyone had been set in place and he was no longer
needed to run trading any more. Now he could concintrate on more interesting
things, like training men and sleeping, and drinking.

Ald Raathim
Captain Ivelaes Vandal kneeled at the Shrine of Saint Delyn in the Temple. He
made an offering and received a blessing as he thought to himself. Father
would be proud of me if he were still alive. I joined the Temple and am a
soldier just as he was. He was an Ordinator and I am a Muatramer. If only he
were here with me now.
He gathered his things and saluted a Muatramer guard as he left the Temple and
continued his tour of Ald Raathim.

"Um, yes. Can I help you?" He noticed something familiar about the
man, in both voice and appearance.
"Yes, yes, I think you can. You see, I'm in need of a job, and I heard
your tavern was hi-, I'm sorry, have we met before?"
"I don't believe so," Isidor said, slightly puzzled. "Unless
you've been to Dagon Fel, or here, I doubt it."
Ingmar nodded and said, "Still ... I think we've met before ..."
After this, the two men sat down to discuss the cook's job, and other details
about Ingmar's employment.

Diamond was just transitioning from the Noggin to the Nymph
when...
The Lord and Lady of Moonguard entered the tavern!!
Gasping, Diamond hid in the kitchen while she waited for somebody to react.

that the people who entered were well dressed. "Can I help you, m'am,

"Good, make shure things move according to schedule is that understood?
now if i am needed i will be in Ald Raathim." with that Ki'airre turned

After wandering awhile around he found a place to drop off his supplies and
stay a few nights. he then headed towards the Nymph and Noggin for a drink or
two.

A courier arrived with a letter from Captain Ivelaes addressed to Kratos.
Kratos accepted the letter and waited for the courier to exit his office before

Two well dressed women came down the stairs from the Nymph.
Doll, an elegant young lady dressed in Breton fashions, with an exotic face,
and Loranna, who looked really like nothing else on Tamriel; tall and built
like a Nord with a Nord's blonde hair, but with a Dunmer's ashen skin and
strange, tear-like markings on her face.
In the Noggin, full of roughnecks, gamblers, dockworkers, and sailors, the two
women stood out like a beacon.
Doll smiled to see Marein, whom she hadn't seen in some time.

Loranna's social graces were still hampered by nearly twenty years of being the
soft-spoken, accomodating little girl who avoided any conflict - traits which

"Diamond is her own woman, living on her own and providing for

Glaring at Reichi (with a bit of fear) and at Loranna, the Lord
said, "We'll settle us between ourselves. Diamond is a welcome member of
our community, and our daughter, and wea care for her greatly. She is only here
because she has been deceived by a certain Bosmer - that one I presume."
"You care for me greatly?" Diamond repeated. Though she was a polite
young woman, she was blunt now, yet eloquent as ever. "Since when do you
care for me greatly? When you paid any attention to me at all, it was to push
me in a direction I didn't want to go.
"Do you want to know who cares for me greatly? Marein does. Loranna does.
Kethiah, Isidor, Goranthir, Shaka, Anya...even the traitor, Falco, paid me more
respect than you did. These are the people who have understood my most simple
dreams and helped me realize them. See that painting on the wall? I painted
that. That carving? I carved that."
"Diamond, we never knew you wanted to be an artist..." said the Lady.
"You didn't know, but I told you. I told you my entire life. That's what
this is really about. Not my desire to be an artist, but that you never
listened...and let me tell you something. When I injured my arm in Moonguard
last year, you didn't come help me. Marein, a complete stranger then, fixed me
a sling. When I was dealing with other people's voices in my head, it wasn't
you who was there; it was Anya. Facing a deadly gate of swords, I had the
support of all of Ald Raathim's heroes - but neither of you. When a vicious
woman drove her sword into my thigh, when I thought I might never walk again,
you didn't come to my aid. These people did." She gestured at the
surrounding people.
"This is my family."
"Diamond," said the Lord, adopting a much kinder tone, "we
couldn't have possibly done. We were looking for you - "
Marein glowered. "Don't lie, you elitist [censored]. There's no way it
would take someone nearly a year to find their own daughter. You've been
sitting in your well-padded chairs in High Rock all this time."
Diamond felt the heat of passion flowing through her. "Why do you want me
back?" she asked, firm and in fact somewhat intimidating.
"You're our flesh and blood," said the Lady. "It's our job to
protect you from ever having to set foot in a tavern like this. Come home to
us, where we can give you anything you want. Horses. Dolls. What do little
girls play with?"
"So you basically don't want people asking scandalous questions about your
second daughter and where she disappeared to. Well, I'm not a little girl, and
I don't want any part of that damned inheritance. You can go home."

few of these ways are visible as sculptures and paintings."

sorry you all had to see that, but I don't think I could have done it without
you."

shook his head sadly. Obviously, he had hoped that Diamond's parents would
understand her daughter's wish.
"Now I wonder why they have left Moonguard at all.", he asked noone
in particular.
"Indeed ..." Loranna says, feeling disappointed, though in a way
hardly surprised; problems with parents were common among her friends. She
hoped the trend didn't continue to her own children.
"We just helped you realize what you knew all along, dear," Loranna
says to Diamond, smiling.

The Butcher of the Inner Sea paced his cell. It would be a few days before his
trial began. During that time he would stay here, no visitors, no talking, no
contact with the outside world; just a bit of bread and water each day and a
menacng glare from the guards.
The argonian had been known to escape from a great amount of prisons throughout
his life, but this was the one time he didn't try. Falco Redflash had finally
decided to own up to his crimes, and face the consequences. Although, he would
have still liked a book to read so that he wouldn't die from boredom in this
"filthy stinking festering armpit of the world" as he referred to his
new accomidations.

Shaka was planting in his gardens, an hour west of Ald Raathim.
He scattered some seeds, then paused to admire the flowers nearby that had been
bulbs six months ago, in Autumn.
The ornamental fish had made it through the winter well, though winters this
far south were mild in any event. Telera had kept up the property well also.
Shaka reminded himself again to talk to Slyvos this week about camouflage
spells for the land. While he might be able to use something like chameleon on
the clearing where the yurt stood, the stream and ponds might be more of a
challenge. Shaka wondered whether it would be possible to make an unwanted
visitor think the waters were a poisonous swamp, as well as make the fish
invisible. Something to ask Loranna's husband.
He reflected for a moment that in the quest for the lich Manavrio, he had
forgotten that Slyvos had been a lich himself for what, four millennia. Maybe
he should ask Slyvos whether he remembered why he had become one in the first
place, if the question wasn't too personal. Had Sly sought power, or been
troubled by the short lifespan of a mortal, as Shaka suspected Manavrio might
have been?
Slyvos has come a long way too, in the ten months or so that I've known him, he
thought. Back then he could barely stand to be around people, other than
Loranna.
Shaka took the empty seed-bags back to the yurt, finished for now.

He set a Mark near the yurt for future Recalls, then walked to town.
When the battlemage checked in with Loranna's guards at Castle Daruhn, he

'looking for someone, Shaka?'
Shaka turned to see the familiar Ohmes-Raaht mage, more human or bosmeri than
some types of Khajiit. Shaka had never known Jazbet, the original tenant of
this body, so he was never disturbed by Slyvos' use of it, unlike some of Ald
Raathim's citizens. But then, after almost a year for Shaka, there were
probably fewer of those citizens who remembered the earlier lord of Daruhn.
"Hello, Slyvos. Yes, I had a few questions about possible means of
camouflaging my gardens and yurt, now that it's wartime . . . . "
Shaka went on to ask if it would be better to fool trespassers into thinking
the stream was unhealthy and uninteresting to any army passing through; or
whether some form of invisibility or chameleon might be better.
Posted by: Dagoth Lich Oct 30 2005, 04:19 PM
Slyvos thought on what Shaka was suggesting, which seemed
reasonable, but he had few ways of doing this that wouldn't take weeks to set
up...
'well, chameleon is probably better, so as to make them think it's just another
piece of rock or such, rather then just make it invisible and have them trample
all over it. But, to set something like this up in a way that is actually
permanent and can cover both the yurt and the gardens, it could take a

Shaka nodded. "Maybe we should at least get started on it, just in case
the lost Redoran battalion was a sign of what's coming in the future. I can
physically camouflage the yurt and the trail as well, while you concentrate on
a chameleon spell for the gardens and ponds. They're more important to me than

They stepped out into the main area of the Cathedral.
Nalion was about to leave Maranda and the reception hall of the Dibellan temple
as Diamond's parents appeared. He looked at their faces for a moment to try to
see in which mood they were, then he approached them. The mage assumed that
they would recognize him from the tavern, since he had spoken up for Diamond.
"'It's hard to be a parent, especially with you.', that's what my father
used to say to me when I was young.", Nalion began, speaking in a polite
voice. "I haven't introduced myself back in the tavern. I am called
Nalion. I would like to speak with you about Diamond."

"No, no. I grew up in the South of Skyrim. Small village, though."
Anya smiled lightly and shook her head. "It wasn't a compliment."
She took a seat next to Shaka, "But neither was it an insult."

"Well, probably half of Skyrim's related to each other anyway," said
Shaka. "You should talk to Isidor and Kethiah when you get the chance,
though. It'd be nice for him to have a relative around, even if a distant
one." He shook the Nord's hand and turned to Anya.
"It's good to see you, elf. I talked to Slyvos about something today, but
maybe we should move to where you were seated first, before I talk about it
openly . . . ."
Shaka and Anya returned to her original table, which was a little less public.
"I'm going to try to camouflage the yurt and trail better, because of the
war. I figure your Imperial mentor probably taught you a lot more about
concealment and distraction than I'll ever know. Maybe you'll have some ideas
along those lines, if you feel like it."
"And Slyvos is researching ways to use chameleon spells on the stream and
gardens."
"How's your day so far?"

years to return and a long time to catch up with my parents. In the end, both,

Nalion resisted the urge to shake his head, the only reaction that was visible
to the couple was a raised eyebrow.
"Don't you see? You cannot offer her all she could ever want. And you are
not supposed to. You confine her in a cage, golden as it may be, but it is a
cage nontheless. She now is the hero of her own life, a hero in more than one
way."
Nalion didn't mention anything about her entering the Spheres.
"Diamond has her future firmly in her own hand, and it's a good one and
not waste. Do you want her to be a noble? What is true nobility? Do you wish
her to move in noble society? Not few of us have titles of their own in the one
or other way. I daresay she has made friends with more important people than
she would ever get a glimpse at in Moonguard."

Tris took several deep breaths trying to calm himself. He didn't like being
called a pretty boy; it was something he'd had to deal with his entire life. It
didn't matter how many times he saved the universe from certain destruction; to
some people he would always be no more than his face. Not even his scar helped.
"It's like highway robbery, or a bump and run," he said to Alack.
"Only, instead of stealing your money, she steals your sanity."
He took a moment to think rationally. He could probably get Maranda
excommunicated for drawing a weapon on someone in holy orders inside the House
of Dibella. But then she would be exiled from one more place. It wasn't exactly
her fault that she was a raging lunatic. He didn't wish her any great harm.
Well, that wasn't quite true. He wanted to twist her head around until her eyes
popped out. But that would pass, if he breathed deeply for a few more minutes.
He smiled at Alack, with just his eyes. "Now, why did I guess I'd find you

Tris followed the first half of the conversation with a barely repressed smile;
then the smile dropped off his face. He and Loranna and Kethiah had joked about

Tris laid a very gentle hand on Alack's back.

Nalion grew tired of having to talk to the wall that the two
nobles from Moonguards built around themselves. However, he was quite amused at
Tris' disappearance and wondered what these two would be thinking. Probably
evaluating their chances - or those of Diamond.
He excused himself with some polite words, then headed outside the temple. He
was still a little bit worried about whether they planned to do anything about
Diamond, though right now, there wasn't much to do. Doll and Dragon were more
suited and experienced to watch them.
The mage shrugged and directed his steps towards the Nymph and Noggin.

Tris laid a very gentle hand on Alack's back.
"You didn't disturb me. In fact, I was looking for you. You and your
brother - if he is your brother?"
"Yeah," said Alack, wincing slightly despite Tris's gentle touch. "He's
me brother, though his mum and dad ain't mine. We was born in the same tribe,
but I was borned ten hours before him, which is why they say I'm an Ohmes-Raht
and he's an Ohmes. Funny, them moons."

Tris felt certain that with his Dibellan training, he could touch it just
right.
Not exactly playing this cool, Tris thought, trying not to laugh at himself.
"We're in a House of Dibella," Tris said. "What do you

"Alas asked for someone like you," the Khajiit said, bringing him to

A young Dunmer man, about Tris's age and physique, stepped into the room.
"I'm gonna leave ya," Alack whispered. "But any chance that Lady

"Loranna is a devotee of Dibella - the temple was built at her request.
And she's married to an Ohmes-Raht, if that tells you anything."
Tris nodded to the Dunmer, whom he knew quite well, as he knew most of the
Temple regulars.
Wonder how I look by this light, he thought. It was taking him a moment
to surrender his fantasies of the pair of Khajiit together.
He asked for someone like you. Wait - did that mean -
Suddenly, the little room was very warm. He waited only a moment for Alack to
leave, before turning his attention to Alas.

Tris couldn't think of a time previously when he'd had direct evidence that he
was the focus of someone else's fantasy. It was almost too thrilling to endure.
He leaned over Alas until their lips almost touched, wondering if the Khajiit

"Ye Gods, you can even do the voice," he grinned, rolling his head,

The Lord and Lady had acknowledged Tris briefly, but when the
Lord moved to continue his argument with Nalion, the Lady seized him by the arm
and dragged him back to the room for strategic discussions.
"Do you know who that is?" she hissed.
"That's the son of Count Sternhart, isn't it? I thought he ran with
riffraff."
"No! That IS Count Sternhart! His father died recently."
"Ah. So your point is..."
"The boy's hardly older than Diamond, and our eldest is already
married."
A look of comprehension worked it's way onto the Lord's face. "You
mean...High Rock's most eligible bachelor is acquainted with our
daughter?"
"Yes! They're friends...and, of course, one of the reasons we came this
far was to recover the potential dowry...this is perfect!"
There was a new plan of action now: Get Diamond to fall for Tris, she would go
home to High Rock but live in Wayrest, there would be no question of where the
family's daughter was, and she would marry them all into wealth, influence,
power...

Kethiah could be found on the docklands, renegotiating some tavern-related
trade with a merchant. It was her contention that with the Butcher of the Bay
no longer terrorizing the sea, the price of goods should go down. The merchant
agreed to a slight discount, not as much as she was suggesting, citing that the
war still made the Inner Sea dangerous.

Slashes-With-Claws sits at alchemy equipment. Busily working on
a mixture. This was a special mixture. He had paid quite a sum of money to get
certain herbs, ones only found in the marsh.
The potion will be an argonian beverage, tasty, but hard to find locally. He
made two bottles of it. One for himself, and one to present as a gift. A gift
to Tsei, he wanted to get to know her better and thought this would be a good
way to begin, he hoped she would enjoy it.

Ald Raathim
The whole time he had been in Ald Raathim, Ivelaes had been staying at Kratos'
house. With the Grandmaster's absence, the house had begun to look abandoned
and inadequate to live in. It would even frighten the small children who would
refer to it as, "Haunted" or "Ghostly", as they passed by.
The inside did the place no justice. It looked the same as the outside if not
more eerie. The tables and shelves were piled with dusty and cobwebbed books.
The only place that stood out from the spooky feel was the bedroom upstairs
that had served as a study/relaxing room for Kratos.
Ivelaes was not one to snoop but the desk sitting in the corner of the room
seemed to beckon to him. He searched through the pile of doctrines and books
and came across a letter that was addressed to Kratos. He read through it and
finally came across one sentence near the end of the letter that read, "I
am with child now."
The letter slipped from his grip and floated to the floor as he read the
writer's signature. "Always yours, with very much love, Athera."

Ingmar's
expression changed very quickly. First to what seemed to be shock, then to a
frown. "Ah ..."
He didn't know Isidor very well, but he had dealt with angry husbands and
lovers before. They usually had very large axes.
"Well, I suppose that's fine."
"I hope it's fine with him too," Kethiah replied, more softly.
"I am sorry about what I did to you, but you have to understand that ...
well, he's a man. And not many men are comfortable with hiring on men who have
been intimate with their women."
She touched his shoulder affectionately. "Stay here, I'll go talk to him
now."
Kethiah left Ingmar on the docks.

Ingmar stood there, considering.
Isidor was sitting at the bar, when Kethiah came in. "Did the cook talk to
you?" He asked with a smile. "He seemed like a good guy."

Shaka
was packed and ready to obtain the final ingredient in the metamorphosis: a
sample of Redguard blood. He looked up Anya at the Bloody Sandal.
"Anya, I'm going to travel to Sentinel to try for an audience with King
Lhotun. I wanted to say goodbye to you first. Could you give my
best to Telera when you see her also?"
Anya frowned, "O-Ok, I guess I assumed I would be going with you, but I
can see how this might be something you'd want to do alone."
Anya smiled, and gave Shaka a tight hug, "I'll be sure to find
Telera."

"I
apologize, Sir, for my outburst. You must understand how abnormal it is to
stumble upon something like this." He replied.
He lowered his head to the ground. "That is indeed my mother's
handwriting. But she told me that my father was killed in battle while in
service to the Ordinators. I can't possibly believe that she would lie to me.
Of all the people, could Grandmaster Kratos actually be my father?"
"Please, Grandmaster, leave me now. I have much to think about before I
face up to my commandant." Ivenaes said as he took a seat at the desk.
Vaan stood for awhile. "Parents, Ivenaes, are frustrating. But don't let
that cloud anything." He turned and walked down the stairs, when doing so,
shouted up to Ivenaes: "Let the heat chill boy, let the heat chill."
And, as he Walked out the door, muttered. "and may ALMISVI guide you, boy."
His mind wandered to his own parent issues, as he headed back to the Nymph and
Noggin.

Mournhold
Falco was in true agony. Not just your every day agony. This was some seriosuly
hardcore agonizing agony.
He looked around the dimly lit room he was being tortured for information in.
All sorts of pokers, kinves, strangling devices, blunt objects, etc... hung on
the walls. He had been through some seriosuly unpleasant things in his life,
but this took the cake. The argonian had in reality no real information to
give. He has already told him his deal with the Redoran:
The Butcher would attack any enemy ships he came across. He would be allowed
free docking at any Redoran-controlled port. For each ship defeated, he would
be payed a sum of gold, whose amount was determined by the type of ship. When
it became abailable he would be given intelligence concerning shipping lanes
and charts, although these were rare.
That was the extent of his knowledge of the Redoran. The one-eyed rogue wasn't
one to ask to many questions of his employers. But after he had told all he
knew they continued torturing him for more information, he didn't know if they
believed he had more info or if they were just inflicting pain for the sake of
inflicting pain, but he was an unhappy reptile because of it.
To ease the pain, Falco had taken to offering them advice on how best to cause
pain. Most of the advice was along the lines of:
"No! No! No! Don't use clean, sharp knives. Use Dull rusty knives you
morons! Where'd you learn your pain-causing techniques? The House of
Dibella!?"
or
"That poker should be white hot before impaling me with it! Not red
hot!"
Needless to say the now infuriated torturers were now severely pissed off at
him, exactly what Falco intended.

"Maybe when it's time to travel to Cyrodiil, you and I could both go.
Telera as well, if she wants to. Take care of yourself, Anya."
He had a strange thought as he hugged her. Could this be one of the last days
that he embraced someone as an Argonian?
Soon Shaka began the series of connections through the Mages Guild to
Hammerfell, and the city of Sentinel.

The springtide fog was thick in the streets of the Redguard capitol of Sentinel,
rolling up from the coast, blocking out the sun. It was cool for the season,
but the citizenry looked like nothing so much as ghosts as they conducted their
business.
The King, Shaka learned at the palace gates, was in residence. His sister,
Aubk-i, the Queen of Daggerfall, was also visiting, having shown up as part of
a practical joke during Jester's Day, following diplomats with petitions of
war. It was a pretty good joke, most agreed.

Shaka found himself enjoying the Spring fogs of Sentinel, a
welcome contrast with the heat that Summer would bring.
After learning the King was in residence, he surrendered the Spear of Bitter
Mercy before the audience.

"Of all the taverns, in all of the world ...".
"Well, that's certainly ... an interesting devolpment. And you don't have
feelings for him anymore?"

then I left as soon as the job was done. I wasn't very nice, I'm afraid ... But
he says he's moved on too, and has no feelings for me if he ever had any. Maybe
it would have been best not to tell you, because there's nothing to tell, but
if you found out some other way that we had a past ... I don't want you to be
more jealous than you already are."

Shaka enjoyed the chance to study the royal zoo's inhabitants while he waited.
It occurred to him that he might want to build an aviary on his Ald Raathim
property someday, after seeing what was possible here.
I wonder if Lotus could ever breed more of his kind, for that matter, he
thought. Would their offspring have some of Lotus' greater intelligence, and
blue coloration? Or would ordinary female cliffracers have nothing to do with
Lotus? Shaka had once heard that albino animals had a rougher time surviving;
maybe Lotus would have had a harder time of it too, without Anya.
Shaka remembered from the company's rescue of Lyssia that Lhotun was considered
a good man, not just a good king. He seemed to have the same honest face now as
he had had over six months ago, as far as Shaka could tell from Lhotun's
discussion with his sister, Queen Aubk-i.
