The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Playing Houses
Posted by: Loranna Oct 21 2005, 08:22 PM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
Newcomers, we ask you to http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855
before starting up; everyone will be happier for it Also,
read http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737 as soon as
possible; this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of
disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character
at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are
encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for
some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is
not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there
for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP
You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

IMPORTANT: WE HAVE JUMPED SIX MONTHS INTO THE FUTURE; IT IS NOW
RAIN'S HAND IN THE RP (i.e., April)

Summary for Loranna: Loranna has recently learned of a small, lost force of
Redorans in her domain, and is calling for heroes to take care of this force
before it gets away.

Summary: Shaka, an Argonian battlemage, has returned to Ald
Raathim after six months of attempting to fit back into Black Marsh,
unsuccessfully.
Shaka lifted a hand to volunteer. "I wasn't here for Ald Raathim's battles
earlier in the year," he said. "It's the least I can do."
He stood in the Cuirass and his usual mixed bag of armor, the Glass kukri
sheathed on his belt, and with the Spear.

Summary:
Thom is currently heading back out into the forest after capturing a Redoran
scout right outside of town. He left the scout in the care of Dragon and
Loranna.

Summary: Anya is gearing up for battle in the forests of Ald
Raathim.
"Just a small force?" Anya teasingly said, "Let me go get my
things nad I'll come along and help."
She always wore her throwing weapons, and a few daggers which include the
Dagger of Judgment, but she had taken to leaving her spear and bow in her room.
She left to retrieve them, and to join up with the volunteer force.

ooc: Isidor, male nord, is in the Nymph and Noggin, but after
hearing of Loranna's call for heroes, he's grabbin' his axe, and hauling owl
over to the castle.
ic: Isidor took his axe, and equipped his armor. He heard Loranna's request for
heroes, and he was more then willing to help out. So, he made his way up to the
castle library and greeted his friends. He was surprised to see Shaka standing
threre, though.
"Where have you been?" Isidor asked, in a low voice.

Summary: slyvos had gone to the library to get a few things;
namely the mace of molag bal from an earlier adventure (he carried it with him
at the time), and several rings and amulets with enchantments he was working
on. Now he was pretty much ready for battle and do what he does best in these
kinda situations... be creative with the powers available.
he ran to catch up with Loranna, smiling widely.
'I'm ready... when do we leave?'

Summary: Battle for Berandas
Kratos has ordered the march and attack on the Dunmer stronghold of Berandas.
Kratos has learned from information that he received from one of his scouts
that the stronghold is poorly defended with only a small company of Redoran
soldiers.
They continue the march on Berandas and will probably arrive by nightfall.

Summary
Reichi's getting ready for a skirmish outside Ald Raathim. Wewt, fighting!

QUOTE
Ald
Raathim
Between the information learned from Kethiah's contact, and the intelligence
gleaned from the scout Thom captured, Loranna learned that there was indeed a
small, lost force of Redorans in her territory, keeping to the forests and
trying to sneak away.
"No point in letting them run around loose," she declares.
"We'll take a group of heroes and run them into the ground. Who's up for
some action today?"
"I'll go!" Reichi volunteered, grinning. He was already ready,
Bloodfang sheathed at his hip on the dull silver colored and ornately decorated
armor. The Dagger Of Senses was in his hand already, though his hand hung at
his side.

Trason entered the city and made his way through it until he found the tavern.

The castle was in the distance and Trason ran swiftly to it.

Battle for Berandas
The Muatramer army marched over the small hills and rocks near Koal Cave in
order to disguise their approach from the Redoran defenders at Berandas. There
was a narrow valley in between the two sets of small hills and it lead to a
spot where Berandas was vulnerable to a surprise attack.
Around this time Kratos sent a messenger back to Gnisis to inform the officer
he left there that the Redoran had only a small contingent of defenders and
that he should inform the rest of the troops that they need to be on look out
for possible attack.
As the whole army silently finished maneuvering over the rocks and cliffs in
the hills, Kratos ordered a halt and for them to start setting up the seige
equipment. He posted sentries around the resting place and ordered his scouts
to be very careful so close to their objective.
The battle was coming to Berandas, but they would need time to prepare for it
first.

A foresty Hill, Near Ald Raatham
'We're lost, are we not?' The officer sighed to his scout
'It could just be I misread the map,' the scout replied
'Very well, intill we find out where we are, we will lay out our defences on
this hill, defensive ring, everyone, and noone make a peep! For the Tribunal
and House Redorian!' the officer yelled quietly
'For Redorian!' yelled the 30 or so soldiers he had with him, a bit too loud
'Be quiet! We cant scout out the enemys position and defences if they know we
are hear!' yelled the officer silently, 'now get into positions!'

Shaka stood in the forest, waiting for the scouts to return. He
had kept his distance from most of his friends, not wanting to explain Black
Marsh right now; Isidor stood nearby.

Anya returned to the group, who were waiting a few miles into
the forest. "A few scouts and I took a quick peek around. For trained
soldiers they sure do blugeon around the forest like a pack of guars. Anyway,
the scouts found them pretty quick."
Anya points off to a hill in the distance, though it was somewhat obscured by
the forest, "We counted a group of roughly thirty men, arrayed in a
typical defensive ring. If we keep quiet, it should be a simple matter to sneak
close and ambush them. Follow me, I'll show you the way."

Six Month Summary for Telera
Firstly she has charged herself with maintaining Shaka’s garden for the
duration of his absence, and while her inexperience gardening shows she has
managed to avoid accidentally killing any of the plants and has kept the garden
neat.
Telera has been frustrated by Anya’s insistence on keeping distance between
them but nonetheless has enjoyed her time with Anya, especially the times when
Anya neglects to maintain the distance.
Since the war started the dagger has been rejoicing most thoroughly, even
forgiving Telera for not unsheathing it during the weeks prior to war. It was
singing praises for a week after the Battle at Tel Silgrad and generally is
acting annoyingly upbeat as long as the war carries on. Its happiness and the
ideas it comes up with in its euphoria are even more disturbing than when it
was sulking. Telera has learned how to block out listening to the dagger very
well as a result.
--------------
Current Events
Teleran had been busying herself at the other end of town when news of the
Redoran scouts reached her; as a result she was very late in volunteering and
just managed to catch the others as they entered the forest.

Trason followed the young woman who suspiciously ran into the
woods, thinking that she might've been a spy.
He was about to yell at her, but he realized she was with a group of people and
in the midst of all of them, was Isidor.
Trason ran to the group quietly and no one asked anything of him.

Forrested Hill, Some Time Later
The Redoran scout resisted the urge to scratch his nose, remaining perfectly
still, hidden within the branches of a tree. His blazing red eyes scanned the
area, looking for any signs of approaching enemies.
He mentally chanted homilies from the blessed Almalexia to calm his nerves; he
and his cohorts were in the lands of Ald Raathim - the formerly worthless
little Land of the Thief, that had somehow stood against the irresistable
Azurites in the Blue Dawn, had become a city to rival even Blacklight, and who
had turned the tide at Tel Silgrad just a few months back. Ald Raathim, with
its crazy Outlander noblewoman, and with so many of the enemy's greatest
champions ...
A bead of sweat dripped down his nose, but he ignored it.

Anya watched the ring of defenders in the distance, unaware of
the the small party about to attack them for the moment.
She turned and outlined her plan, which involved distracting the long range
support, attacking one side, and breaking through on another during the
confusion. Which should break the formation and let them mop up.
She motioned for Telera to follow her. Pointing at the archers, she whisperes,
"I'll sneak in there, if you can jump/levitate, and pick them off with
your daggers."
A quick weave of her arms, and she was lost from sight. Using a trained eye,
she crept up to the archer she deemed as the one with the most skil, based on
how he held his bow and position. His eyes widened as an arm appeared in front
of him as she pressed her dagger to his throat, and she quickly slit him.
Using a jump spell, she lept out of the middle of the formation before she
could be targeted, already aiming daggers of her own to thrown. The main line
should have started attacking the Redorans now that they were distracted by her
and Telera.

Battle for Berandas
Night had begun to fall and Kratos knew it was time. He left his temporary tent
and made his way to a small fire his commanders had lit under an overhanging
cliff so they would not be noticed and began to speak. "Alright men, the
time is now, we attack Berandas. Srenki, you will take your company and march
on the left flank here." He said, drawing an X on the left side of
Berandas on the map that was laid out before them on a crude table.
As he continued to assign his commanders attack points, one of his sentries ran
up to him and panting spoke, "Sir, a man is approaching from the
North." The sentry informed him. "Alright, thank you. Now go back to
your post." Kratos ordered him.
The man came running up to the fire where Kratos and his commanders had been
planning the attack. They all looked up at him in confusion as he just stood
there. He was invisible in the darkness except the outline he made near the
fire. Kratos stood up and approached the soldier. "What are you here
for?" He asked him in confusion.
They all gasped as the soldier fell forward and became visible in the
firelight. It was the messenger Kratos had sent to Gnisis. He was covered with
blood and had three arrows protruding from his back. "They...they...had
taken Gnisis after we left." He coughed up blood and
continued. "I barely escaped... with my life... this is... a...
TRAP!" He screamed as the last amount of life he had was taken
from him.
Kratos immediately raised the alarm. They had been fed information that had
drawn them to Berandas, and this is how they were paying for it. The soldiers
quickly formed lines in the battle formation known only as the phalanx. Their
shields were tightly inter-locked together and their spears were outstretched
in the front lines.
They could hear the very near screams of the sentries Kratos had posted but
nothing could be seen in the darkness; no torches, no signal lanterns. They
heard it coming. The distant sound of footsteps all around them. The battle had
come to them.

Telera opened up with her daggers well before she landed, flashes of silver
issued from around the camp not well directed and only causing minor wounds,
but giving the impression of many knife throwers hiding within the camp itself.
Telera herself came down in front of a Redoran mage, just beginning to cast a
spell, and dispatched him smoothly before the incantation could be completed.
Turning to see Anya had jumped into the Redoran formation, Telera followed
suit.

Slyvos took this as a good time to cast a little invisibilty

distracted away from him, and proceeded to move forward with a fortify speed

archers before rushing backwards quickly, readying levitate spells to get them

the five or so archers fired thier arrows at the flying anya and the not so

close your lines!' he yelled
Anya was hard pressed to dodge the arrows mid-air, she quickly brought her

Landing lightly on the ground, she brought up and tossed several daggers as a

Trason followed behind Isidor and split up from him once the fight started. He had bashed an unsuspecting Redoran's helmet wide open which gave him quite a shock. Battle for Berandas
The soldiers were not ready for an attack. Most were still running around in
confusion as Kratos tried his best to form them into the phalanx. The footsteps
could be heard from every direction. The Muatramer army was too frantic. They
were supposed to attack, not be attacked.
It all came too soon. A volley of arrows soared through the nightsky, but all
that could be heard was the terrible sound they made whistleing through the air
and the screams of the Muatramer they struck. One by one they fell from every
direction. The source of the arrows could not be found in the darkness.
All of a sudden the arrow fire stopped but no one rejoiced. As if from nowhere
the Redoran infantry began to emerge from the shadows. They charged into the
right flank and frontline of the army. There was nowhere to hide now. Torches
were lit and light spells were cast down into the narrow valley. They were
exposed to arrow fire and infantry melee.
Kratos cast a shield spell on himself and led the frontline into the Redoran
infantry. The attackers began to fall and the Muatramer began to push the
frontline of the assault back up the hill. But the arrow fire proved too much.
Kratos knew it, they were outnumbered. The Redoran must have took careful
consideration to plan this attack on attackers. His forces were too far
stretched apart and the Redoran infantry began to take advantage of this.
They had lost Gnisis and now this? There was nothing to do about it. They were
fighting bravely but it wasn't enough. The Muatramer had proved their might to
the Redoran many times before, and somehow they had adapted to this. The
rightflank collapsed and the Redoran began to break through as the arrow fire
continued.
The call echoed through the lines, "Retreat!". They began to turn
East and take flight from the Redoran that had them gradually outnumbered.
Kratos had the remnants of his army seek cover in the mountains to the East.
From there they could make their way back to Molag Mar. Oddly enough, the
Redoran did not follow. They had fought with fierocity and courage and Kratos
was proud to be their commander, even if they had lost the battle.
In the morning they marched over the mountains and made their way back to headquarters
in Molag Mar.

Trason spoke for them.
"Filthy Redoran, drop your weapons and you will be killed swiftly. If you

The Redoran charged at him with there weapons above their heads. Trason waited

Trason threw the iron longsword at the Redoran on the left, knocking his weapon

Anya crouched on a branch, bow and arrow nocked, string loose.
She had caught up with the first Redoran in a matter of minutes, and silenced
him a dagger. The other two fell within the matter of half an hour, one to an
arrow, and one to her spear.
The last could be heard breathing heavily. He was calmer than the others, and
actually made an attempt to make false trails and cover his tracks. In the end,
it was futile, in the forest, few surpassed Anya. At least she liked to think
that.
She saw him coming through the forest. In one swift movement, she aimed the
bow, drew it taunt, and fired. He was dead before he hit the ground. She looted
the bodies for anything of value, coins, peices of armor and weapons she could
sell, and any sport of information no matter how little she could find. Anya

cunning and deceit. We cannot retake Vvardenfell by open assault, without
outside aid.
"Outside aid I will seek, now, at whatever price I can. Cunning and
deceit... this you must now learn, to your advantage."
"I will always remain faithful to ALMSIVI." He replied.
"Cunning and deceit sound like what we are in need of now. Beside honor
one must have the ability to be duplicitous. What would you have your servant
do in your absence?" Kratos asked.

Allerleirauh smiled. "You truly are a worthy servant of ALMSIVI.
"Rather than leading large assaults against them, I want you to
concentrate on a crack team of heroes. Study the weak points in the Redoran
defenses, with an eye to regaining control of the pilgrimage sites. It's very
simple: if our clergy are cut off from the shrines, the prayers of the true
faithful are not channeled through these essential nodes where Godhood touched
the mortal plane; the prayers as a result do less to strengthen the Tribunal,
and the Tribunal's blessings are impaired in their ability to descend on
us."

"I thank you, Grace." Kratos said, as he nodded.
"I understand. Must I enlist the help of the Dark Brotherhood or maybe the

The dagger knew exactly what it wanted to do with the wounded. Telera told it to shove off and, after ensuring that there weren’t weapons in the vicinity of the wounded in case they decided that they suddenly weren’t so badly wounded as they had thought, she continued over the hill to see how the battle on the other side had proceeded.
Shaka could be seen during the battle glancing at Telera and Anya with love and
something like awe. Almalexia herself with the Snake-Face on could be hardly
more fearsome, he briefly thought.
The Redorans, however misguided, had fought to the last man according to their
martial traditions.

It had been a long trip, and this would be her last stopover before she
returned to the Cathedral to take up her duties there. Before her was a fine
wine, of Summerset Vintage one of her friends from the war against the Indoril
gave to her, a fine wineglass pillaged from an Indoril manor, filled with the
wine. She was slowly sipping it, looking around the Tavern. It was dark, but
not too unplesant. There was an air of newness in the bar, being in the Arena

Her fight with Dragon was the last fight in the old arena... oh all the

A Villainous ship, somewhere South East of Blacklight
Falco looked at his crew. Each of them a trained killer, cruel, ruthless,
merciless, murdering, efficent, cutthroats. In other words: the perfect evil
doers. The crewmen hardly even needed orders any more. The ship was a perfect
machine, each man and woman doing is or her job instantly, perfectly, nd
without question. They were organized, and professional. Their captain gave
them combat drills. The place was looking less and less like a ship full of
pirates, and more like a sip full of elite special forces soldiers. Just as
Falco always intended.
The argonian himself had changed mmuch during those six months. He was leaner,
and stronger. His eye was quick, and never ceased darting around the room,
gazing on every moving object. His entire face and body was covered in thin
semi-visible scars, each one telling a different story. The effect this gave to
his victims was that of some horrible creature from oblivion, sent to Nirn to
terrorize the mortals. And perhaps, in the end, that was what he was....a
monster.

After
the battle, Shaka sought out Telera.
"I'm back from Black Marsh," he said, looking at her levelly.
Shaka felt more at peace with himself, and perhaps it showed in his eyes.
"You and Anya fought bravely. I don't want to talk to her just
yet; I'm going to the Dibellans next, to see what I can do to
change. Argonia was worse than I had expected, Tel; and I'm not going
back to being a lizard among men and mer."
He held a hand to the left side of her face. "I know that I asked
much of you and Anya, to wait for me. Wait a little while longer.
You have my heart . . . . I never stopped loving Anya, but
you as well."
“We missed you,” Telera said lovingly, then she slapped him, “Anya took it
harder than anyone when you left. Go. Talk. To. Her. Now. Then you can go to
the Dibellans and do what you need to. She comes first.”
Adding, “Sorry to hear things didn’t go so well in Argonia, welcome back.” Then
hugging him and kissing the side of his snout.

Diamond: Always watching, always listening - always aware. She
absorbed Arynel and Isidor's conversation without contributing.
---------------
In other news, Diamond completed a few oil paintings over the past six months.
There's the one with Reichi and others who are clanking tankards, from opening
night, which hangs in the Nymph and the Noggin.
There's a warrior-king Goranthir hanging on the Wall of Heroes. Next to him are
Isidor and Kethiah, together one canvas back-to-back.
She's currently working on Reichi, which should be interesting; she doesn't
want to do Loranna or Allerleirauh yet; she is not sure if she can capture
their inspiring majesty...though she managed with Goranthir.
The painting of Tris and Loranna's dance six months ago is in the back, under
Kethiah's care.

"But do you see how serious a choice it is? Tel, the potion accidentally
changed you instead of killing you, but I'm not going to go that route. And
trying to contact a daedroth and make a deal to change races would be even more
insane."
"I can just picture the reaction of the daedra worshippers: Sure, I'll
help an outsider get into special favor with my god, a favor he hasn't granted
his lifelong devotees . . . ."
"That leaves the Nine. I don't know if it's even possible to change myself

"I guess I'm explaining this badly to you two. But I'm here now. The past

Soon after the Redoran were killed, Thom exited the forest and
made his way back to Dragon and reported that he had no other contacts or signs
of recent travel. Excusing himself, Thom walked to the Nymph and Noggin' to get
a drink. He quickly ordered a flin, then made his way to a table at the back of
the tavern.

“I still don’t understand why exactly you want this Shaka. I know that you want
more than you can have like this, but Shaka you fit here right now. I was
hoping you’d realize that after going to Argonia.” Telera said, adding,
“Changing from one race to another would change more than just your shape.”

"Tel, Anya, you know why. I can't be your brother or your father forever,
or just your friend. Argonians aren't physically compatible. I wanted to be a
man for you . . . ."
"I'd lose things, like the more-than-human sense of smell and agility; I
wouldn't be able to hold my breath as long in water, and other differences. But
wouldn't my Self be the same, even without these outward differences?"
Shaka wanted to hold both women, but he didn't want to demand it just now, or
beg. This whole situation had to be freely chosen if it were to work.

Anya frowned. In the back of her mind, the memory in the Spheres
was still quite fresh. And though she might not admit it to even herself, she
was acting out of partially selfish reasons too. She loved him, and was
thankful for the security his presence brought, but she had tasted what more
could have been, where as Telera hadn't.
"Shaka... you don't have to do this for me or Telera. But... if you think
this is the only way for you, I won't stop you. I just wish you would have told
me sooner."

Changing the subject rather forcibly she continued, “Now get in the bath I may

need to clean off.”

After the conversation with Arynel, Isidor sat on a bench
outside of the tavern, taking everything in. For all the riddles in his words,
Arynel had made thing a little clearer for him. Life was never as simple as it
seemed, or as Isidor wanted it to be.
One thing that had been bothering Isidor, was Kethiah turning down his marriage
proposal. No matter how hard he thought about it, he couldn't wrap his mind
around it. They had lived together for seven months, and had been lovers for
nearly nine months. They were having a child together, and had been raising two
children together.
Whatever the problem was, Isidor couldn't figure it out.

Allerleirauh had washed the dust of Molag Mar from her clothes and hair. The

She nodded towards the Nymph, the private side of the Inn, with sumptuously

Six month summary
Gistral
Not much has been heard of Gistral over the past seven months. After taking his
leave from Ald Raathim, he has visited Mournhold for a day before returning to
Lainlyn and then heading for the Dirij Tereur festival in the Alik'r desert on
the 5th of Frostfall. The following months he has spent almost completely in
the Alik'r, guiding trade caravans, joining the one or other trustworthy group
of adventurers to investigate hidden ruins or just traveling by himself through
the sandy dunes, drowning himself in the beauty of this part of Hammerfell.
Gistral's current whereabouts are unknown, but chances are that he's still in
his home province.

Kratos had packed what he needed, and he was ready to hit the
road again. He had instructed one of his better commanders to take care of
business while he would be gone.
He was going to Mournhold to speak with his Muatramer colleague, Vaan. Many Temple leaders had gone to Mournhold to seek sanctuary from the war, and Vaan would most
likely be found there as well.
