The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Playing Houses

Posted by: Loranna Oct 20 2005, 07:06 PM

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

Newcomers, we ask you to
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855 before starting up; everyone will be happier for it smile.gifAlso, read http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737 as soon as possible; this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From there, type /join #Loranna_RP

You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna: With Redoran and Indoril declaring war on Helseth for his destruction of Bal Tereg and the surrounding area, Loranna has been busy, authorizing the construction of a navy to protect Ald Raathim's shipping lanes, accepting Dragon's agreement for Ald Raathim's new army, laying long-term plans for the betterment of her domain, and continuing to plan her wedding and discuss men and clothes with Allerleirauh.

Summary

Goranthir, Prince of Solitude, is in Solitude, buying warships for Ald Raathim.

Kethiah, ex-assassin and co-proprietor of the Nymph and Noggin, is at her tavern, after a bit of a fight with Isidor. She is suggesting they go pick up the children from school.

Barenziah, Queen Mother of Morrowind, is in Tear, after a mysterious meeting with a cloaked figure. She is accepting Tris's "gratitude" (tha nekkid kind) for manipulating the situation in Wayrest, giving him and Ciel a pardon, and paving the way for his inheritance.

Summary: Shaka, an Argonian battlemage, is drifting in the stream near his campsite and waiting for Telera.

Summary: Anya, bosmer rogue born on an uncertian day to uncertian parents, is tired of struggling with love, relationships, and the like. So instead she's thinking "Whoo, time to go kill someone!" with the thought of impending civil war. So to prepare for that, she's getting drunk... again, since Isidor was so kind as to provide her with free beverages. (Not so sure he was thinking straight when he agreed to that.)

*

Telera arced back around to see what Shaka was doing, why he had stopped the game. She saw Shaka drifting, he looked so peaceful there; she was loath to disturb him.

She hovered upstream for a moment before letting herself drift for a second too. She made a little kick which carried her next to Shaka, shoulder to shoulder, “Shaka, thank you for showing me all this.”

Kethiah, as usual, had not been still.  In addition to the various meetings she was having with importers and exporters in the rooms upstairs on behalf of the Lady of Daruhn, she had been serving guests and making sure the staff was efficient and honest.

But then she found Isidor. "We should go to school and walk the children home.  Who knows what rumors they might have heard."

*

Isidor nodded and said, "Before we go ... I want to apologize for before. Whatever you want to do, it's not up to me. I am very sorry."

"It was my pleasure, beautiful. And I made a decision while I was resting here. . . . It sounds morbid, but if I don't make it through the war, I want Anya to have the property. But I want you to feel as if you can spend time here too, as long as you want. When I see Anya again, I'm going to make it official that she inherits, but you can visit whenever and for however long."

He swam to land. "I have some towels and robes in the yurt."

"It's not up to you if I dye my hair or make a dirty joke, or do something that is just for me," Kethiah said, taking his hand. "But this business of mine does effect you, and that's why I wanted you to know. I will help us financially, not only with the salary Loranna's paying me, but the business it will bring to the tavern. It will also help because we will know before anyone if there's trouble ahead ... But it does come with some risks."

"It's the closest thing I can do that I'm good at without leaving Ald Raathim," she said. "The spy is the close cousin to the assassin."

“You’ll make it through the war Shaka,” Telera said, “And you’ve certainly made me feel welcome here, no need to worry about that.”

As she followed Shaka back to land she mouthed the word ‘beautiful’ to herself. She could get used to that for a nickname.

Once inside the yurt, Shaka lit a few oil lamps and a paper lamp. He deposited their clothes and weapons on some wooden chests.

The yurt was spare, but had imported rugs on the floor and some calligraphic scrolls on one wall. The beds of pillows served as chairs for now. Shaka handed Tel a large towel and a robe.

"I think Loranna and Ald Raathim have at least a fighting chance in this conflict," he said. "The Redorans have always thought of themselves as a warrior race, and of course the Indoril used to supply most of the Ordinators; but Helseth's side has a lot going for it too. I have to admit there may be more to him than a tyrant and a poisoner. With Barenziah as your mother, there has to be."

Kethiah smiled. "I know why you are worried, and I wouldn't lie to you and say there are no risks. You're an adventurer yourself: you know about risks and rewards. I will promise to be careful ... just as I'll believe you the next time you are off on a quest and you promise to be careful too. OOC Summary: Adanorcil has been minding his own business lately and is now arriving in Ald Raathim, looking for a place to stay.

IC:

Adanorcil's grey cloak covered his entire body and the hood cast a shadow all across his face. Finding it slightly impolite to ride a horse in the middle of a town, he lead the animal through the streets, searching for a place to stay.

He saw a large wooden sign, dangling from an iron rod in the autumn wind. "The Nymph and Noggin", Adanorcil said to himself. Adanorcil looked at his horse. "Beats the cold hard ground, doesn't it? And the name doesn't sound that bad either." The horse whinnied and Adanorcil smiled. "You don't really think you can make me believe you understand me, do you?"

***

Adanorcil took of his cloak and warmed his hands at the fireplace before stepping up to the bar. Realizing there was nobody there, he returned to the hearth and took a seat, waiting for the innkeeper to return.

“Of course we have a fighting chance,” Telera said off-handedly as she dried herself. “We always do. It’s the poor sods who fight against us that should be worried. Can’t say I hold any particular good feelings for Helseth. Though, his Mum seemed nice enough when she was here. She was very good with Isidor’s children.”

Laughing at the description of Redoran, she added, “They’re the same race as Hlaalu whether they like to admit it or not.”

“What does this one say?” She asked pointing at one of scrolls.

"I know, and it's sweet, and I'll try to be a good girl, much as I can be," Kethiah kissed him back. "We have a new guest ..."

She went to the man by the hearth. "Good day to you, sir. Do you need a room, or a drink, or a meal, or all three?"

Posted by: Slashes-With-Claws Oct 20 2005, 09:57 PM

Slashes woke from a brief rest at the Nymph and Noggin. He would have to meet with Dragon later, but he had a things to do first.

First he cleaned his armor and blade, then himself. Slashes set out for the local smith to get his broken pauldron mended. As he walked he drew his claymore and checked the edge, still sharp.

He could feal a tension in the air. People acted differently now from when he first arrive a few days ago. The thought of war was playing on people's minds.

The smith shop was busy with people buying weapons and armor, usually kinds that are not suited for them. These people would need much training if they were going to fight.

He was distracted by the sight of Tel drying off. "It says something . . . Er, that one's taken from a message in a bottle that someone once found:

'Through trees entwined with cool autumn air, my sorrow is lured by fragrant, bittersweet memories. I am at home as much as my world and consciousness allow.'

He was silent, looking into the blue eyes of Telera, as remarkable as Dres Loranna's own.

"We have a varied menu that gets more varied by the day," Kethiah said, signaling to a barmaid to come over. "Piralle here will tell you what our chef has prepared today, and can show you a room too, if you'd like. If you'll excuse me, I'll be back shortly."

Kethiah and Isidor left to pick up the children from school. On the way, she told him about Tris's suggestions for the tavern, saying that he was interested in investing gold into it.

"Ah." Isidor said. "Well, I guess it's good to have friends with lots of money." He smiled, and they arrived at the school.

Tilitalia stood alone outside again, and when he asked where Tyradil was, she replied with, "He has to do some extra work on his illusion." Isidor raised an eyebrow, but assumed that she wouldn't be lying to him. The trio made their way back to the tavern, while Tyradil did ... extra work.

"One thing I did want to ask you," Isidor said, sitting at the bar, "was, does this new 'job' require you to be gone, a lot, or can you do it from here?"

He couldn't help smiling at that one; Telera would know very well that Lotus was likely to be the only cliffracer around, if you didn't count the harbor birds.

Kethiah had tracked down dangerous people with excellent stealth skills from one end of the Empire to the other. Finding Tyradil's secret meeting spot wasn't too hard.

She smiled when she saw them, and left them to their privacy.

Back at the Nymph and Noggin, she resumed her meetings with the merchants, ship captains, and other parties interested in the little town which was now on the major shipping lane.

Trason just finished making the newest customer a meal to eat and a nice cold beverage to side it. Trason was under alot of stress and the thought of war added to that. He hadn't seen that "thing" since the one night in the alley. He is afraid that it might make its return far too soon.

He walked out of the kitchen wiping his hands down with a thick cloth. He looked around and saw Isidor dealing with some customers. He waited until Isidor was finished talking and made his way over to him.

"Isidor... I hate to be looking on the down side here, but what exactly is your plan if Ald Raathim is invaded? I've grown quite attached to the little ones and I'd rather kill myself then put them in danger's way... What are we gonna do?" Trason said quietly.

They continued to walk up from the beach, and soon they had reached the Nymp and Noggin'. "Hey, you two want to get something to eat?" As they stood infront of the new tavern, Thom noticed the bulletin board. Quickly, he read the notice and frowned. "I figured out what the smoke it about..."

Meanwhile.....in a place where problems focus left on relationships and more on keeping a knife out of your chest.

The Red Falcon cruised silently South. Falco had revealed their course to the crew. They were going to do a bit of 'hunting' in the shipping lanes of Tear then when war broke out they would hire themselves out as a privateer ship. (In case you haven't figured it out by now Falco=villain)

QUOTE(syronj @ Oct 20 2005, 02:10 PM)

He nearly fumbled the bottle of fairly good brandy he was seeking.  "Not at all.  I'm glad of the company."

Not able to look at Tel just yet, Shaka said, "I was hoping you'd stay tonight so that you or both of us wouldn't have to hike back.  There are cliffracers in these woods, they say."

He couldn't help smiling at that one;  Telera would know very well that Lotus was likely to be the only cliffracer around, if you didn't count the harbor birds.

*

“Hehe, you know these woods are safe enough Shaka,” Telera giggled, “If you wanted me to stay you could just ask.”

Telera added in almost a whisper, “You’re nervous around me, is it something to do with myself and Anya?” Then she said at her usual mode of speech, “I suppose it can’t be helped much if it is but I’d like you to feel comfortable around me. I find being around you wonderful, well since you learned what was happening with Anya, before that I was walking on eggshells around you.” The thought of her foolishness in the matter brought a chagrined expression to her face.

Grasping Shaka’s hand, the one not holding the brandy, she said, “I’d like you to feel happy around me too. I’d love to stay the night Shaka. Sunrise in your garden is something I would truly enjoy seeing.”

They continued to walk up from the beach, and soon they had reached the Nymp and Noggin'.  "Hey, you two want to get something to eat?" As they stood infront of the new tavern, Thom noticed the bulletin board. Quickly, he read the notice and frowned. "I figured out what the smoke is about..."

"Whats it say?" Ahjaar asked, as she went over to read it.

After she read it, she looked at Thom, shaking her head. "Well... that explains the smoke..."

Solitude, The Shipyards

Goranthir was well-dressed enough to be taken seriously when he asked to talk to Lorick Moon, the representative of the shipwrights of Solitude. In the back room of his favorite tavern, Goranthir told him what he was looking for.

"I'm sorry, you want to buy a ship?" Moon asked. He was not hard of hearing, but he liked people to repeat themselves when he wasn't sure.

"I want to buy nine ships," Goranthir said. "One square-rigger, two brigatines, three warships, three frigates. And I'll need a crew for each."

"Why don't you come back tomorrow with your money and we'll see what we can do for you?"

Goranthir nodded, and left the tavern for his room in the city.

"Let's talk inside," said Goranthir, pushing Tris into the grand tavern where he had rented his room.

Being Goranthir, of course, he had automatically rented the best room in the place, where the hot springs that heated the entire block surfaced. Half the room was open to the sky, with a view out to the Sea of Ghosts beyond, and the snow and cold air made the boiling water merely a pleasantly hot bath.

"I suggested months ago that Ald Raathim needs a navy, but just building the Akarvina was enough to make people worried about what kind of a message it would send, building a warship in a time of peace," said Goranthir, as he stepped into the bath. "I suggested it again. Allie and Loranna thought it was a fine idea now, but I was too young to take charge of the project, and that someone with money -- like you -- should pay for it."

"So, I came out here to buy the boats, but I think I'm looking like an idiot," Goranthir sighed.

"Are you jealous of me?" Tris said. "Help me out of these damned black clothes."

The bath looked like a very pleasant idea. Solitude was all right, if you were a Nord, but the short walk outside had made his fingertips hurt. He hesitated, half out of his jacket, remembering that he had come here straight from Barenziah.

"Well, it was peacetime then, and it's wartime now," Tris said, reasonably. "Still, someone should have thought that it's possible to build Ald Raathim's navy in Skyrim without a soul knowing about it. As for being young, you are young. Give it four years. Then you'll be me, wishing everyone would treat you like a child again."

Eats-With-Claws found himself signing up for the Ald Raathim military. He was a bit surprised he did this. The tough old argonian normally was against war in any form. But now felt it was his duty, as one able to fight, to protect the good people of Ald Raathim. But for the time being he would simply continue his labor and fight the war only if it came to the prospering city.

Tris joined Goranthir in the bath.

"You're working under a handicap," he said. "I'm Count Sternhart, with the Gaerington fortune backing me. You're Prince of Firsthold, but you're supposed to be incognito. You don't have the trappings to wave in people's faces. And being taken seriously takes practice, practice you didn't get at home."

He thought of what Goranthir had said about making animal noises, that in the past he had let people think he was crazy to avoid fights. The sort of trick you learned when you were low on the social ladder. Goranthir didn't belong there naturally. But forces had conspired to put him there, while he was growing up.

"Goranthir, the ships of Skyrim are good, but there's one thing you can do that I can't," Tris said. "You can get Altmer ships. And those are better. Those are legendary, in fact. Shaka felt himself relax as well. Anya would probably always be his soulmate -- but just now he felt himself luckier than he had any right to be. Even one born under the sign of the Lover.

He put his brandy down and embraced Telera. With mock gravity, he said: "I should warn you that now you're in danger of being nuzzled to death . . . ."

Tyradil returned to the Nymph and Noggin, a short time after being spotted by Kethiah. Instead of going up to his room, he sat in the main room of the tavern, doing his school work.

In the morning, Shaka and Telera stood watching the sunrise, as planned, near those few plants that had already flowered this year.

He looked over at the Dunmer with affection, but a little sadly, and squeezed her hand. Shaka couldn't fool himself any longer; whether with Anya, or Tel, or any other non-Argonian -- it wouldn't work out. The species were too different, physically or any other way.

Shaka knew any other Argonian wouldn't even have been interested in a mammal, or made the attempt to please one. But his soul was different.

Just how different? Perhaps it was time to go back to his roots and find out.

No one was in the kitchen. That was good. Kethiah didn't want to lose her temper in front of too many people.

"You are not to interrupt private conversation I am having with anyone," she said, her eyes flashing. "That will destroy my business. You are especially not to interrupt private conversations I am having with Isidor, Tyradil, or Tilitalia. That will destroy my new family. You are not to humiliate an 11-year-old boy who was too shy to tell his father about the little girl he has a crush on by crowing about it in the middle of the dining room."

"If you want to keep your job here, you will go back in there and in a whisper, promise Tyradil that you won't tell anyone about his ... girlfriend ... or whatever she is to him. I didn't get enough of the story before you interrupted it."

He felt really stupid at this moment, wishing he could take back his words.

He walked out of the kitchen ahead of Kethiah and kneeled down before Tyradil.

"Tyradil, buddy, I didn't mean anything about that before... I'll keep it my secret and wont tell nobody! Don't you worry!" Trason whispered to him.

He stood up and looked towards Kethiah who was on her way over.

He mouthed the words "Sorry" again to her.

"Im going to sit outside for a little bit, If you need me you'll know where to find me" Trason said.

Trason walked outside thinking that he should watch what he says. He's not out in the wilderness anymore... This is a job, and a priviledge. He should be thankful for this job.

He walked around to the side of the building and pulled out a small pipe and had a smoke.

He mouthed the words "Sorry" again to her.

Kethiah nodded, still not smiling, though the anger had gone out of her eyes.

QUOTE(Stargazey @ Oct 20 2005, 08:38 PM)

Tyradil nodded, his eyes looked puffy, but there were no tears on his face.

He looked up at Kethiah, and said, "I like her ... she's nice to me. Some of the kids in school aren't too receptive of a new kid."

*

Kethiah sat back down next to him. "Why didn't you want your father to know?"

Tyradil shrugged and said, "... I don't know what he'd think. I thought he'd be mad. I don't know. And, I'm not even sure what I'd tell him. 'Dad, there's this girl that I've been kissing as often as I can,' doesn't sound too good ..."

"I can assure you he wouldn't be mad," Kethiah smiled. "You can tell him when you're ready to, but I know he's trying to be more involved with your lives, if you let him."

QUOTE(Teleran @ Oct 20 2005, 08:35 PM)

Telera stretched, standing beside Shaka, looking out at the sunset. He was preoccupied again, but this time she thought she knew the reason. Shaka had come up with some remarkable ways around it, but he still was too different from the life he wanted. His words confirmed it for her.

“You knew you had to go,” Telera said quietly. “May you find what you need to in Argonia, Shaka.”

*

He hadn't expected that somehow, and tears filled his eyes. "You're a good woman, Tel. A good person. I'm going to try my best to come back . . . unless I find something there that I can't elsewhere."

Shaka embraced her strongly and started walking back to town.

Alexi walked through the streets. It had taken him a bit to find and finish off the rest of the bandits. Slashes had probably returned by now.

But Alexi had no idea where to meet this Dragon fellow again. All the guards had returned before him as well. Alexi went up to a dunmer overseeing some construction. "Hello good sir, could you please direct me to the where abouts of a fellow named Dragon." He asked. The Dunmer nodded and gave Alexi a confusing set of instructions. But he managed to figure them out and he found where Dragon was.

"Good sir, I have returned." He said

Dragon wasn't hard to find - he was at the recruiting station outside the Nymph and Noggin, along with several others who were interviewing recruits, to determine their abilities, experience, and starting pay.

"Made it back in one piece, I see," Dragon said, with a grin. "What news?"

"They're all dead, and I brought proof." Alexi took a bag off his belt and tossed it at Dragon's feet. "The head of the leader, albeit a little scorhed."

Shaka sat down and shook his head, smiling faintly. "Are you trying to drive them out of business by drinking the profits? Never mind."

He took her hand for a moment. "Anya, I never thought this day would come, after a quarter century. But it may be time for me to go back to Black Marsh and figure out who I am."

"I promise I'll return to you if I find that's the best answer. But if I don't return within say, a year . . . I want you to have the land. The stream, the view, the lot." He pressed her hand to the blue blaze between his eyes.

"I'm not going to take the Dragonbone Cuirass, I think. Too much trouble explaining to my people one legendary artifact, the Spear, as it is. If I don't return within that time, sell it to the museum in Mournhold and make sure you get a good price for it."

Shaka stood again. "I'm going to talk to Loranna now; I didn't want it to look as if I'm skipping out."

" I just wanted to tell you that I remember. What it was like in the Spheres, to be really able to ... love you as you deserve. Take care of yourself."

IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT

After tonight, the Playing Houses campaign will be making a SIX MONTH jump into the future. Players are asked to determine what will happen to their characters during that time frame - the events of Morrowind at large during that period will be detailed when the time jump occurs.

Thank you and have fun planning what you'll be doing for the next few months smile.gif

Anya felt her shoulders droop, and her eyes started to water, "You're leaving me?"

She pulled him close to her, and held him in a tight embrace, "I won't let you." She said softly, keeping her voice from cracking. She held him close to her, and buried her face in his shoulder.

She didn't want him to go. She was trying to find help, so they could be together. Wasn't that enough?

Maybe she was just being selfish, didn't she, just the other day, tell him that she might be going away herself?

She pulled back to arms length, and looked into his large, dark eyes, "Please don't go... but.. if you think you need too... I can't stop you. That's not my right." She gave him one more tight hug.

"Aw, angel . . . ." This was one of the hardest leavetakings yet, worse than Telera or Ahnassi.

"I'm not running away from you, I'm trying to find myself. As you should still do for yourself."

He closed his eyes for a moment. So easy to agree, and stay in Ald Raathim with her.

"Take care of yourself, do whatever you can to help Loranna's people and to stay alive. This isn't the end."

He got up and walked to the castle before he could weaken.

Shaka himself was looking a little weary from all the goodbyes. But it would be disrespectful not to pay this visit.

"Dres Loranna, it's the worst of times for me to decide this, but I think I have to go back to Black Marsh for a while. I don't know how long."

He tried to gather his thoughts. "If I don't return in a year, please deed my land to Anya. I'll leave the Dragonbone Cuirass with you for safekeeping, but she can sell it at that time, or do whatever she feels best, if I don't return."

"You've been more than kind over the months. The only other thing that occurs to me is that maybe I should have tried to talk to Lady Allerleirauh before reaching this point. I could probably use advice on personal transformations; what the price is."

"I'm not going to go to the daedra; it would be like trying to catch lightning in a flask. Bad enough that I quested for the Spear when I was a lot younger."

She didn't like him being gone, though she knew he had to do this as much as she had to take care of herself.

She stopped a waitress, and decided to make due on Isidor's offer tonight. Though, she would tip well enough to cover most, if not all, of the costs.

She also wondered what this meant for her and Telera.

"We've all done things when younger we would never do now," Loranna says, her lips curling into a knowing smile. She walks over to Shaka, and puts her hands on her shoulders, her tearstreaks giving her face an unusually serious air.

"Coincidence is an illusion in the Arena," Loranna says. "Things happen for a reason - least that's what I've seen, in this past year. You coming here happened for a reason; you finding yourself called back to Black Marsh must surely be for a reason as well. I wish you luck in your journey, and will have you in my heart and prayers until you return to us safely."

Her smile becomes sad. "Be careful dear. I don't know whether I should encourage you to seek acceptance of your shell or a way to change it, but in any event, be careful. Morrowind is the hot spot right now but danger lurks wherever one goes these days."

Telera stayed in the garden for a while afterwards, enjoying the fountain and the pond. She would miss Shaka.

She broke from her reverie to head to Ald Raathim. Shaka should be well on his way through saying his goodbyes, not an enviable task. Besides, Anya would need someone to talk to. At that thought Telera felt slightly guilty, it was after all, somewhat her fault that Shaka was leaving so suddenly.

She made her way to the Nymph and Noggin and poked her head inside to look for Anya, there she was sitting alone with a mostly drunk glass in front of her. Telera sat beside her, “How are you doing Anya? I take it Shaka has been round.”

"Well... I wouldn't sit here sullenly if he said he was saying." she teased, meekly.

Loranna grins.  "The same," she says, "goes for you, dear.  May the Nine watch over you on your journey."

And may you come back in a better shape than you leave us dear - whichever form that may be, she thinks to herself. I hope I'm not being an idiot for not trying to talk you out of this.

Shaka left the castle, making sure to say goodbye to Loranna's staff as well. He gave the Dragonbone Cuirass and his other possessions to them for safekeeping, and hit the road south.

He wore his usual mix of armor, with a standard Guard cuirass this time, and carried the Spear. Shaka tried to look back as little as possible.

Shaka did have the sobering sight of the destroyed Bal Tereg's smoke before him, though somewhat diminished now.

Summary: Tamriel -- 6 Months Later

If Tamriel is an Arena, it has been booked for the last season straight, with the finest gladiators around.

In Skyrim, the conflict is over several cities taken by the Nords during the War of Bend’r-Mahk. Dragonstar in particular is a divided city with a wall literally dividing the two factions warring against one another.

In High Rock, Queen Elysana and King Gortwog’s surreal alliance has held, and as marriage between the heirs is quite out of the question (“It would be grotesque,” says the Queen diplomatically), it is a question of land. Menevia is now entirely under the reign of King Gortwog, with Elysana as its protector. Likewise, Elysana controls the entire mouth of the Bjoulsae River, with Gortwog acting as her muscle.

In the Summerset Isle, Queen Morgiah has continued to laugh off the broadsheet printed about her. Most people agree it is outrageous libel, not worth the trouble to respond … except where is the child Goranthir?

In Cyrodiil, the Emperor gets older and undoubtedly wiser. His three sons continue to be bachelors, however. Are there no Queens worthy of marriage?

In Elsweyr, the Cyrodilic County Leyawiin has won back lands west of the Niben from the Khajiit who settled there. While the settlers have moved on, a group of bandits who call themselves the Renrijra Krin have taken up the cause of returning the land.

Black Marsh has become even more insular. Though there is the question of the prison break in the impenetrable dungeon called Blackrose which has everyone wondering what new dangerous criminals have been loosed on the land.

And Morrowind …?

Summary: Morrowind – 6 Months Later

Morrowind, as anyone who has been following the story so far, is at war with itself. King Helseth unapologetically has made a grab for absolute power, recognizing a vacuum of power as the Tribunal has fallen.

His first move was to marry, some five months ago, a daughter of the House Dres, once known as Vendama, now known as Queen Dinara. The ceremony was a beautiful mixture of ancient Velothi and modern Imperial traditions, and all in Morrowind were invited to attend. Of course, certain characters in the RP – Loranna, as Lady of Ald Raathim; Goranthir, as nephew of the groom; Tris, as, well, occasional paramour of the groom’s mother, attended, for certain. Others may have depending on their wont.

Then, actually before the wedding but after the engagement, there was the attack on the Queen Mother Barenziah, and the resultant attack on those Indoril radicals in Bal Therec who ochestrated the attack. Helseth’s decision not to ally with the Indoril and the Redoran on their terms, and his attacking of an Indoril stronghold alienated the two Houses to a degree which could not be ignored.

Nor was it. On the very same night that the marriage was taking place, the Redoran attacked the bride’s estate of Bodrom Mora, capturing her brother, and holding the land, despite Helseth’s attempts to retake it.

Gnisis, the heart of the Redoran colony in Vvardenfell, was laid siege to for two months in response. The noble Redorans never surrendered, but with all supplies cut off, the Royal army and navy was eventually able to march in and destroy the rather feeble defenders.

Helseth has focused his energy on the Indoril and Redoran pockets closer to home. In the Deshaan plains, battles have been won and lost by both sides, though largely by Indoril. Helseth has proved himself a shrewd battle tactician, better than they could have anticipated. Likewise, the Redoran have been forced to climb northward, following a battle in Tel Silgrad, in which the army of Ald Raathim, pushing from the east, played a decisive role.

The alliance of Redoran and Indoril have proven their worth, by contast, on the field of battle in Vvardenfell. One of their most cunning moves was to apparently enlist the Neverarine in their battle plans. Old Imperial strongholds in Caldera, Pelagiad, Fort Moonmoth, and other locations quickly crumbled by a popular uprising, until it was revealed that the Nerevarine was a fraud when he died of a commonly contracted disease. The victory had been had already, however. The only parts of Vvardenfell that were not taken by the joint Indoril and Redoran troops were independent Telvanni towers and some Ashlander lands, considered not worth the danger in getting them.

Blacklight to the north continues to be the alliance of Redoran and Indoril’s strongest capitol, but it is facing pressure less from Helseth than from the Nords of Skyrim, who have seized on this opportunity to take back land from Morrowind which they considered theirs.

In short, where things are at now …

Redoran and Indoril control Vvardenfell utterly, with the exceptions of the Telvanni towers and Ashlander territories, as mentioned above, and Vivec City itself.

Vivec is controlled by the Redoran and Indoril, in the sense that their armies patrol its streets, but its heart is more divided. A Dunmer priest who calls himself the Moonstone has appeared, pointing to signs that Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Vivec are not gone. Firmly allied with the Indoril, he shows the people signs that they must resist the greed of Helseth, and keep their hearts with the true Gods.

Others in Vivec believe in the New Temple, a monastic order which follows the teaching of Almsivi, but reveres Azura, Boethiah, and Mephala.

Mainland Morrowind is largely Helseth’s domain, due to his alliances with the other Houses of the land. The exceptions are the north, which is Redoran (and sometimes, depending on the battle, Nord) territory, and the South, which has been held by Indoril, centered around Bodrom Mora. The Dres-hating Argonians of Blackmarsh have backed up this claim.

The Inner Sea sees battles daily.

And Ald Raathim ..?

Maranda Biennie, Knight of the Lily, proudly placed her self at the disposal of the Royal armies as a mercenary, fighting against the Fiendish Indoril armies around Bodrom Mora. She has recently returned to take up her position at the Newly Constructed Rite of the Passion of the Fiery Heart of Dibella, or for short, the Firey Heart of Dibella, in Ald Raatham. This towering cathedral would remind the OOC people of Spanish American Cathedrals in the splendour and grandeur, poking its nose at the humble construction of the other buildings in the city. It is strategically located on the opposite side of town to the Tribunal Temple, a striking symbol of Imperial and Royal domination within Morrowind

Ald Raathim

The city of Ald Raathim has, on the whole, prospered during the last six months. Steadily growing, the city now boasts three taverns total, including the expansive Nymph and Noggin, the traditional Drunken Guar, and the newly-built Bloody Sandal which stands in vendor's section just outside the Arena. Also built is the magnificient House of Dibella and the Temple of the Tribunal, for the true Tribunal faith.

The victory at Tel Silgrad is a major boost for the new army of Ald Raathim; even the veterans who had fought the Azurites now had a newfound sense of their identity as soldiers fighting the good fight. The new navy patrols the waterways, protecting the trade routes from privateers.

There is a general feeling of confidence in the growing city, but it is tempered by the sober realization that the war may come close to home very soon. Redorn pushed too far east this time at Tel Silgrad, but they have not been beaten yet, and even with the Nords attacking Blacklight, the Redoran presence still casts a shadow the people of Ald Raathim can feel.

ooc: There are going to be several of these. I'll do them as they come to me, and I reserve the right to say I forgot something important at any time during the next week. wink.gif

Tris Gaerington. Mirror. Lord Gaerington, Count Sternhart. Male Breton, 20 years old, and inheritor of... a lot of money.

His life has changed immeasurably in the past six months. He lives in Wayrest City now, in his ancestral home, although he couldn't sleep in his father's massive, antique bed - he had it moved into storage and replaced it with one of his own. His house now has a handball court instead of a portrait gallery; the portraits of famous worthies now hang in the lobby of Gaerington Amalgamated Mercantile and Shipping, next door, with a lifesized portrait of Alistaire Gaerington, commissioned by Tris. There's now a very fancy chapel to Dibella in Gaerington House. And... in the basement... a propylon chamber, salvaged from a Velothi fortress at great expense. Shh.

Tris attended the wedding of their majesties Dres Dinara and Hlaalu Helseth. He made a number of arrangements in regards to Helseth and Loranna, which should prove very profitable if everyone lives, and ruinous otherwise. He also helped Goranthir with the establishment of Ald Raathim's navy.

Oro, his ten year old brother, no longer lives in his house. Herwyn Brand helped him with that problem, after a terrible conversation in which Oro revealed that he knew Tris had slept with their stepmother before his father's death. Oro is now serving the Akatosh Chantry, and, if not happy about it, too far away to do any damage. Tris's sister Iolanthe is now the official manager of the Gaerington fortune. She goes over accounts with her brother every day.

Tris gets up at the same time every morning to run. He's in training for the Games again. Life goes on, despite war and finance, and running is his way to defy the world. He looks good - in better shape than he's been in since he was 18. He's also changed his hair completely; the short back made him look boyish, and his investors are encouraging him to develop a more mature, trustworthy image. Now his hair is all one length, brushed back, almost to his shoulders.

Another thing has changed, one of the hardest for him to get used to. On his run through the streets of Wayrest every morning, Tris is accompanied by a bodyguard, and other bodyguards are stationed along his route. He was nearly abducted by fortune hunters some time ago.

Dres Loranna Pyrel, Ldy of Ald Raathim:

The past six months have been very busy for the barmaid turned would-be goddess turned adventurer and noblewoman. Very busy, and very trying, but with moments of shining beauty despite the horrors all over Tamriel.

In her journal, Loranna describes these months as "The beginning of what has become a continuous stream of parties and gatherings," as the new noblewoman begins doing what nobles are supposed to do - meet other nobles and establish connections. The wedding of King Helseth and Queen Dinara proved to be an ideal time to start meeting people, not to mention a happy moment, as Loranna cheered at the wedding of one of her first friends in House Dres. She even swore afterward that she saw the King smile, genuinely smile ...

The capture of Dinara's brother Obael was a blow that turned an otherwise wonderful day bitter, and Loranna prays for Obael's release, even as she monitors her intelligence network for information about him.

There were other parties over the months, other chances to meet people, other chances to help encourage the growth of her city; if the construction before the war had strengthened Loranna's commitment to Ald Raathim's welfare, the growth during the war tempered it to razor sharpness. And with intent would come skill, slowly perhaps but surely.

The Lady of Daruhn did not just work for her people in noble gatherings, however; in the battle of Tel Silgrad, she stood by her army's side, her magic healing and fortifying, and she took up her place in the healer's hut once more after the battle to help the wounded recover. Since then, she has often looked to the west, toward Blacklight, and asked herself when the Redorans would try again ...

There were problems during the months; shipments of supplies that never made it, a couple of attempts made on her at the social gatherings she attended. Dram, her head guard, has become her faithful shadow, even if the second time it was Loranna's magic that stopped the assassin, not his blade. The attacks were puzzling though and Loranna investigates them.

The goddess Dibella, though, saw fit to bless Loranna's wedding with a day of peacefulness; shortly after Helseth and Dinara were wed Loranna and Slyvos followed suit - and, as the sixth month rolls past, Loranna finds that she has missed her period, a fact which brings a transcendant smile to her face.

ooc: Allerleirauh

Last month, at Hogithum, Sen-Yedda, divine daughter of Vivec and Azura, had her first birthday. There was a private party at Solunastra for the many, many people whom Allerleirauh adores, and the many people who have made her child's life possible. Loranna was invited, of course. But so was anyone who remembers the Dawn.

There was also a public celebration, in Vivec City. The official policy of the Temple is that Sen-Yedda is an allegory, not a person: Vivec of the New Gods raped Azura of the Old Gods, climbed her into heaven, and cast her down to earth, where she gave birth to Sen-Yedda, Princess Starlight (CHIM), the hope of the Dunmer. All a very nice fairy tale, move along, nothing to see here.

At the public celebration, a shrine to the ascended ancestors Almalexia and Sotha Sil was established. Costumed performers with streamers and gongs and drums acted out the events of last Hogithum. The new military Order of the Temple (which still needs a name) was officially established (although they have been recruiting and training for months now).

Those were the good days, before fighting came to the streets of Vivec. The Temple is threatening a schism; on one side, those who follow Azura, a dead goddess; on the other side, those who deny the deaths of Ayem and Seht. On neither side, the truth. Allerleirauh, once lover of Vivec, says, "The hearts of the Dunmer people are infinitely perverse."

Allerleirauh and her people have been present at many battles; but so far, they have not used their Void Ranger skills in aid of either one side or the other, or even in defense of their own interests. Skein says to Allerleirauh, wait. You cannot defy the will of Tamriel itself, without being cast into outer darkness.

Allerleirauh is still very much in love with Goranthir. After six months, it's starting to feel as if it might last. But she hasn't forgotten the words of Sheogorath.

Oh, and she made Loranna's wedding dress for her. I hear it was lovely.

Mirea... looks like she's smuggling a melon. This has cut into her performance as an acrobat. But it's what she wants. Hard enough to kindle an Elf, she says. Wishes she could have found Quill ages ago. But then, he wasn't born yet. Quill so far has resisted being married, even when Mirea suggested a wedding on trapezes.

Skein sees Herwyn Brand often. They talk a lot, and no one knows what they say. He doesn't seem to mind that her room is a mess. Herwyn is also a frequent guest at Tris Gaerington's house.

Tamne is taller. She's growing into the puppy fat she was gaining.

Jelsia, priestess of Dibella, resides at the House of Dibella in Ald Raathim. Although initially there were several incidents involving sabotage and the construction, the House is now flourishing.

Dragon is a General now. He fought at Tel Silgrad.

Whenever Loranna returns to her study in Ald Raathim, she will find a sealed letter on her desk. It bears markings from the mages guild mentioning a special delivery.

The content of the letter, written in a hand rather familiar to Loranna by now, is the following:

15th Rain's Hand

Dear Loranna,

the past months passed faster than I would have imagined and it has been a long time since we have seen each other. I hope you are doing fine, well, as far as the circumstances in Morrowind allow. I have to admit that I didn't care a lot about what happened elsewhere over the last six months. I am concerned and troubled about the tales of battles between Helseth and House Dres and Indoril. I would have wished that a civil war - especially after what Morrowind has suffered through after that night at Hogithum - could have been avoided, but my hopes were in vain. There's blood mingling with the sand of the Arena again.

Despite the troublesome news from the east, Doll and I had a wonderful time together, ending up home in Lainfair after a pleasure cruise around the Iliac Bay. My parents were overjoyed to see us both, and Relie, my mother, took an instant liking of Doll. Much time was spent catching up with the events and as wonderful as it was telling my parents of the world outside, it was always difficult not to slip to those topics that I - and much more, Doll - cannot share with them. At times, it seems that the roles my parents and I have played have changed: that I am an adult now, and they the children.

I haven't been the most settled person over the last years and in fact, I never truly was. However, perhaps I should take the chance to buy this nice house at the edge of the village, not to settle down permanently, but to have a place of my - well, and perhaps our - own to retreat at times. At least, I would have a space to put my books in instead of bothering your or Allerleirauh's library.

I'm talking too much about myself though. I hope Ald Raathim will stand fast in this struggle and especially that you and all our mutual friends are well. Please give my best wishes to whoever is around in Daruhn right now. I am missing you all, but still, various matters keep me from leaving Lainfair right now. I hope that the time to return will come soon. Until then and forever after, may you all stand fast in the flame.

Take my heartfelt greetings and fare well!

Your friend,
Nalion

ooc: Isidor. Ah, Isidor. He's come a long way, since he met Gram in Dagon Fel. A long way. Now, he's the owner of a tavern, in Ald Raathim, and ... an expectent father, with his lover Kethiah, who he has also asked to marry him. As for Isidor's two children ...

Tyradil is coming off of a bad patch between him and his 'girlfriend', Davala. Guess there was some sort of disagreement about something ...

Oh, and him and Tilitalia are both now 12. Yay! Another year older.

As for Tilitalia, well, she's become more of a tomboy then ever. Her long blonde hair? Gone, and she's started hanging out around the Arena, watching the athletes train, with great interest.

Tsei? Hmm ... Tsei. Tsei is ... almost done with her trip in Argonia, and she might be back soon.

Solise? She's become a member of the Ald Raathim army, and she fought in Tel Silgrad.

Posted by: Xyber02 Oct 21 2005, 03:26 PM

Summary: 6 months later.

Where to begin? Anya has largely refused to sign her life away in the army, remaining freelance. She has offered her services where ever her particular set of skills apply, disliking open warfare as she does.

She's enjoyed much of her time at the Arena. She was immensely pleased with it's finished construction, as it has always been her favorite spot, second to the Nymph and the Noggin. At the Nymph, she has made good on Isidor's offer for free beverages, though she tips well and the staff love her for it.

With Shaka gone, she's had less than happy days, waking up cranky and grumpy more often than not. She has spent much of her time with Telera. Though an open commitment to a serious relationship has never been made, and she's tried her darnest to keep some distance, it is fairly obvious to anyone with a keen eye that they're more than just two friends. It was helped with the fact that Shaka has taken a shine to Telera just before he left.

She has largely refused to go to the House of Dibella to the end, having found some stability and not really wanting to turn it upside-down. She still has a less than favorable view of Dibella.

Lotus? Who the heck knows what a cliffracer does in six months time, I'm sure it's substantial though.

Alexi's summery:

Alexi, rich merchant, good fighter, officer in the ald raathim guard, and something else. He has spent the last six months training fighters and regulating trade. Letters come in almost from Cyrodill and his servents daily asking for him to please resign from the military. Alexi laughs and ignors them. As for trade, he has set himself up firmly. Goods come in across rodes every day, supplying the new city. They are well guarded by Imperial soldiers hired on. Alexi also been contacting mercenary companies.

Secretly Alexi has been contacting others. He has conected with spy networks inside Morrowind and even into Vvanderval. Though he has yet to inform anyone of this.

Shaka's Journal. 21st Day of the Rain's Hand.

If my friends in Ald Raathim were here, they might not see much difference in my appearance. If I were human, however, they would find me bearded and with a six-months growth of hair. Much of my armor resides in my gear bag these days; a would-be Imperial still stands out too much within Argonia.

Anya might be able to tell that I'm thinner but more muscular. Fieldwork will do that, as when I explored tombs on Vvardenfell.

My Imperial has become rusty as I live speaking the language of my people; yet for them my speech will always be comic, heavily accented from my quarter-century away, and laced with outdated words.

I've told few where I come from; my people will never trust the Dres with whom I threw in my lot. No way to explain Loranna and her friends to them.

My gardens must be starting to bloom by now. I forgot to ask Anya and Telera if they would like to live at the campsite and take care of the place.

I miss the softskins.

------------------------------------------

Shaka put down the quill. He touched his necklace of bones: one taloned fingerbone for each Argonian he had had to kill. At least he hadn't struck the first blow, and was involved in no clan vendettas.

Summary of Thom after 6 months:

As the months went by, not a lot changed in Thom’s life, except becoming engaged to Ahjaar, and building his own home.

After speaking with Lady Loranna about the expansion of Ald Raathim and the future of the forest around his camp, Thom bought a small area of the forest, where he built a home for himself. Nylus and he cleared the area where his camp was located, and created a large cabin with the felled trees, where he could have permanent shelter and still be in the environment he loved.

As the weeks went by, Thom and Ahjaar became closer and closer, eventually becoming engaged, with Luxi’s blessing of course.

As for work, Thom now acts as a scout for the area around Ald Raathim, as does Nylus.

The war, at first, caused some anguish in Thom's heart, because of his former loyalty to House Redoran, but a very short time later, he accepted that that was the past. Thom didn't sign in with the Army, but did help at Tel Silgrad and swears to help in any battles that directly involve Ald Raathim.

Six-Month Summary:

Marein's life has been lacking some direction; he's not a fighter, thievery is frowned upon, his strategic planning is hopeless, and his magic...well, let's not even to get into that.

A guy can't spend his life gambling...

He's starting to feel out of his depth among all these heroes. He's heroic in nature, but he's no powerful mage, no brilliant speaker - he feels like he's nothing special. In his life he's identified himself as a student, a revolutionary, a recovering patient, a gambler, a hero...but what is he now?

For the time being, he's praying to Zenithar that luck follows all the soldiers in this war, and that the differences of a few don't lead to the death of many innocent soldiers.

--------------------------------

For Diamond, things have been simple. Though she frowns upon war, she is content to live her domestic life away from the political chess games she grew up with.

She's even more a barmaid and even less a young Lady these days. She had an unfortunate encounter with thieves at one point, but successfully stood her ground until help arrived.

From Frostfall to Rain’s Hand:

Six months passed very much as time normally did so for Solin. His reclusive nature continues as it has for the many months that came before. He is seen from time to time wandering the streets of Ald Raathim, sometimes in discussion with smiths, artisans, and even a number of the shadier residents of emerging trade city. Finding rest in the taverns of Ald Raathim from time to time he still writes in his large red tome often leaving his meals to grow cold.

Increasingly he appears with his clothing and gear smeared and discolored by stains of ash, blood, and dirt. Always, after such events, the Dunmer finds his way to the shores of the Inner Sea where he spends the starlit night in private contemplation. Every now and then he looks to the sky as if hoping to catch a glimpse of blue light.

Solin attended both Hogithum celebrations and, either out of his own volition or required politeness, a majority of the other notable events that occurred between Frostfall and Rain’s Hand. He has, since the young goddess’s birthday, begun to frequent Solunastra more and more. The future approaches at its ever steady yet seemingly always increasing pace.

Posted by: Adanorcil Oct 21 2005, 08:44 PM

Summary of Adanorcil:

Yawning, Adanorcil opened the window. The cool spring breeze made it a bit easier to open his eyes. He remember that he had rented this little house in Ald Raathim for one more week.

When he had arrived in Ald Raathim, winter was coming. The wind was getting cold and he had done a lot of travelling. Ald Raathim had looked like a cosy town to spend the winter months. The first week he had spent in the Nymph and Noggin Inn, after which he found a small house to rent via the local bank.

He had spent the winter months close to the heartfire at the Nymph and Noggin, where he had become a known face. He had filled his days listening to tall tales, reading books and, a single time, building snowmen with the children of the town.

To Adanorcil it seemed that the warmer the weather got, the more tense the people of Morrowind got. Tensions between the Houses had risen even more. Conflicts were imminent and Adanorcil was still in doubt on whether to stay and do what he could for Morrowind or to leave the province before the violence denied him all escape.

Posted by: Slashes-With-Claws Oct 21 2005, 08:51 PM

Soon after he helped to remove the threat of the bandits Slashes-With-Claws was made a commander in the Ald Raathim army.

For several months he trained his men. When they first arrived at the arena for training they were far from prepared for battle. Many had bought the first armor and weapons they could find. A lightly build dunmer wore full steel and had a battle axe, he would be almost unable to move in actual battle. Once Slashes got the equipment sorted out, each getting what best suited them, they were all issued bows. then training began.

Slashes trained his troops in mele fighting and use of the bow. He believed that if you could shoot the enemy before he could get close enough to swing his sword, then you were at a great advantage.

Magic training was also included, but only on the basics of restoration. Every soldier had to be able to heal his own minor injuries, this Slashes said would keep the troops in top shape through long battles. Major injuries were left to the professionals.

Slashes and his men were put to the test durring the battle of Tel Silgrad. His men's skills with the bow proved invaluable in keeping the invaders at bay. With their abilities in restoration Slashes company had surprisingly few losses. He subsequently received an award for his actions.

Not long after, Slashes and his company were sent to patrol smaller roads around Ald Raathim following attacks by raiders. One group of the Redoran raiders were exentually found, a few were captured.

One thing played on Slashes' mind about the war. Although he was fighting for Ald Raathim, where slavery was illegal, ald Raathim is part of Dres. He was through that fact helping slavers. But he had to think of it differently. He had to think that he was helping those of Ald Raathim who opposed slavery.

Six-Month Summary (Set 2):

The Lord and Lady of Moonguard abandoned their search and went home after a fruitless two months in north of Valenwood -- Important events, after all, were transpiring in their absence, and their daughter was not a suitable regent. They had just about given their younger daughter up for dead when a visitor happened to come into town. Yes, a young red-eyed Bosmer, now 18, and her occasional traveling partner, a Nord highwayman, arrived in Moonguard one fine day as spring rose upon the town and inadvertently directed the Lord and Lady to Morrowind, where they will head as soon as politics in High Rock cool down some...

---------------------------------

And it is that young red-eyed Bosmer, Shai, within whom we find the most change, and the most eventful occurrences.

Shai mostly stuck to the schedule outlined previously over these six months. There were a few important things that happened, though:

She met a bandit, a Nord, one morning when he was watching her meditate. Unsettled, she watched him vanish into the forest and expected never to see him again as she performed her morning exercises. In fact, she found him once more outside a tavern that very same day, and they conversed for a few hours - Shai was pleased by the progress she made socially, of which this particular conversation was a major benchmark.

Though she disappeared again that night, as she always did, Shai was to encounter the Nord again and again over the next months. Eventually they began traveling jointly for brief periods of time.

Shai's travels have awakened two curiosities in her: the desire to see her homeland, and the desire to learn that one form of combat and resourcefulness, requiring no weaponry or equipment, which she has yet to learn: magic.

Currently, then, Shai is heading south, to Valenwood. She's joined the Mage's Guild so that she can learn Magic wherever she goes, but never uses the Guild Guide service.

She's not coming back yet; she doesn't mean to come back for a while. She'll be back and mightier than ever in maybe four years.

QUOTE(S'reddit @ Oct 21 2005, 03:29 AM)

Summary: Morrowind – 6 Months Later

*

The Tower in Khuul has been compleated (Yippy). Drakar and his (five) Companion Guards now sport new, customized, cloaths and Armor that are heavily enchanted. Mitheral threaded cloathing with the Mithril and Adamantium composite armor have quite a stunning look. They definately stand out on the battlefield and opponents quickly learn to be where they are not. An Elite Guard is being trained by Drakar at the Khuul Tower but their number only stands at Thirty. Fifteen each Spellswords and Battlemages, they are equiped with Stylized Adamantium and Ebony armor respectivly and have Ebony weapons.

The Council have put Drakar in charge of rooting out Telvanni strongholds that are loyal to the crown in Vvardenfell. The nuetrality of the Independant Telvanni Towers were respected as well as the Ashlanders wishes to be left to themselves. Drakar pleadged to leave them alone as they wished but informed them that no help nor aid would be provided unless they joined forces with the Redorans.

Drakar's forces are garrisoning the old Chimer Strongholds from which they are quickly dispatched to aid with local defence's and offensive actions. They are using the propylon chambers to great effect to bring in supplies and re-enforcments as needed. Despite being able to hold Barandas and Khuul, Gnisis fell.

Drakar was furious that the council could not hold Gnisis. Time and time again he had told the council of the weakness's in traditional Redoran architecture. The outer defences had been crushed but the interior defences held out to no avail, even having a eggmine nearby did not help in the end. The only survirors on the Gnisi peninisila were the cilvilians that fled or the few soldiers that held up in local eggmines. Redoran forces still patrol the area but the council is undecided on re-building Gnisis (again). Drakar wants the entire pennisila and destoyed city placed under his control and authority.

The Council has divided itself to different locations. Three would re-locate to Blacklight, Two are at undisclosed locations. Drakar is still based out of Khuul and is chomping at the bit to be allowed to lead a counter-attack and re-take Silgrad Tower area. Drakar advises the Council to fortify the Island of Cormaris View and the Rivers of the Northern Coast to halt Nord advances and Focus on re-taking Silgrad and the River area to the south.

The Caldera Ebony mine is fortified. The Redorans also attempt to blockade and seal the passage between Blacklight and Gnisis. Drakar's ships also assist, their smaller size should give them a advantage in the tighter confines of the Innner Sea passage.

(OOC, if I forget anything, and I'm quite sure I have, there are other councilors to deal with it wink.gif)

Summary for Slyvos over this time:

Over these long six months, the once-chimer former lich khajiit sorcerer was doing okay for himself; as much as anyone like himself could at the least. He was there during several battles in this strange war, leading the spellcasters as though he was a living artilery platform. He also made himself useful through his many potent and versatile enchanted items, taking the down time to make and invent more for himself and the armies.

He was still getting used to being the consort of a Lady of one of the great houses, but he was not thrown into the spotlight too often, so this was not much of a problem for him through this time, save a few choice encounters with a necromancer near Ald Raathim. Of course, the necro is now currently a pile of ash in a cave covered by a rock, so no more problems from him.

And the happiest day of his new existence occured in this time; the day he married Loranna, and the fact that they actually got through that time without any interruptions. And of course, they did NOT blow up any taverns either. happy.gif

Now he currently is waiting for something new to happen, and of course going about his regular activities, rather cheerful considering the news from Loranna that he got smile.gif

Summary for Gram

Gram Pyrel, called Gram the Wild and Gram Twilight Slayer, bearer of Flametongue, his father's claymore, and of Frostkiss and Trueturner, mighty arms gained during his years of madness and unaccounted wanderings, has not been idle in the past few months.

After the adventure of the Eight Heros who passed through the Spheres, and a brief sojourn with Loranna to visit the carin of his dead wife, Gram returned to his home village, a place he had steadfastedly avoided since he was a lad of seventeen, tired at last of his father's unyielding harshness, determined to prove to his greybearded sire and the world that he was ready to assume the Pyrel legacy of heroism and glory. Thirty years later, having experienced failure, love, loss, madness, and then redemption, heroism, and acceptance, he came back, bearing the gifts of a grateful Emperor for his services in a time that never was and could not be spoken of.

His surviving family members were less than thrilled to see him. Even the rumors Gram's recent heroics during the Blue Dawn were not enough to erase the memory of the brash youth who left his home and failed to live up to his boasts, who married some girl in the lowlands only to leave her, and who eventually abandoned his only daughter. Gram's brother, in fact, threw his fist ito Gram's face at the sight of his father's sword on Gram's back. But while Gram will stand for no disrespect, he had come back to make good to his village, and after much quarelling, much bell-ringing, and much mead, Gram's open hands finally began to attract his village's notice.

Gram stayed a couple of months in his home village, making sure that the Emperor's gold was used wisely; the land of his family will prosper for many generations. People now speak of Gram the Generous, who brought wealth and security to the land as did his grandfather many years ago. People even grugdedly accepted that Gram's daughter went and married some cat in Morrowind and became a part of the Dark Elves' sheneigans.

Then, war broke out in Morrowind, and there were Nords who saw this as a chance to sieze land they considered theirs all along. His heart yearning once again for adventure Gram polished his armor and weapons and set out to investigate this new war, parental instinct stirring.

However, before he got a chance to fight, Loranna showed up and dragged him to her wedding; Gram didn't mind as much as his boisterous voice might have suggested and it was good to see the faces of companions he had come to admire and like, but by Kyne had Ald Raathim changed!

The battle of Tel Silgrad whetted Gram's appetite for glory, and the old battleaxe has decided to stay in Ald Raathim, to show the world the might of the Pyrels. He frequents Isidor's new tavern and the Arena when he is not training for battle or looking for other chances to put his axe to good use.

And he is praying to Kyne that Loranna's first child is a manly son, that he may pass down Flametongue to with pride smile.gif

Summary

King Helseth of Morrowind, as the six month summary of his kingdom has suggested, has been quite busy lately. Always up to now, he has been a political and diplomatic warrior, but now he has shown himself to be an adept commander, tactician, and fighter. The months following his near death illness spent sparring have made him stronger and more resilient than ever. He has not spent much time at home in Mournhold, but those who have seen him, even people who did not know what to make of him before, say he strikes an inspirationally regal figure, and is much beloved of his army.

Queen Dinara and her mother-in-law the Queen Mother Barenziah remain in Mournhold, in charge of the other aspects of ruling the realm. They are doing an excellent job, bringing in diplomats from the allied Houses and the Imperial Court to keep relations tight, and helping those whose lives had been shattered by the war, distributing food and leading rebuilding efforts, beginning in Bal Therec. Dinara particularly is the heart behind these efforts, and though she does her duties with diligence, her brother Obael’s captivity has caused her many sleepless nights.

Queen Elysana of Wayrest, as described before, is continuing with her alliance with Orsinium – though, of course, she has not giving up her spy network, and gets regular intelligence from Herwyn about the orcs, as well as the other potential threats throughout High Rock and Tamriel. She has been sharing some of what she’s learned about Helseth’s battle plans with the Redoran and Indoril, which is one of the factors keeping the southern Dres lands in Indoril possession.

King Gothryd and Queen Aubk-I of Daggerfall had their fifth child recently, whom they named Laurent, after their court favorite, found brutally murdered on a country road some time ago.

Quill, formerly Dygbal of Ivytyde, continues to run the Quill Traveling Circus, and his dark-humored entertainment has become much lighter since he learned he was to become a father. Still, he won’t allow Mirea to do any more acrobatic than jugglings and clowning until after the child is born.

Razbiah and Thianas, Loranna’s cooks, were married at the new Temple of the Tribunal in Ald Raathim, and all were invited. Since they didn’t cook, their staff at the castle created the meal – which was too spicy, frankly – and the cake, which was delicious, but simply a cube, with no magic. A wonderful time was had by all.

Kethiah, former assassin and now co-propriestress of the Nymph and Noggin, is, as Stargazey said, pregnant. Three months along now. She has continued in her (secret) job as Loranna’s Spymaster, gathering intelligence from the network who pose as merchants, but no one except her partner and lover Isidor knows that, even at the tavern. The bulletin board outside the tavern has become a regular place for people to get news about events outside of Ald Raathim. Kethiah’s bonds with Isidor’s children have also continued to grow, though only Tyradil calls her “mom” regularly. And every morning, regardless of guest and merchant meeting, she and Isidor walk them to school, and every afternoon, they walk them back.

The Nymph and Noggin is a massive place now, thanks to an influx of Tris’s money, and sprawls across the docklands. The rougher part, called the Noggin, is favored by sailors and soldiers, serving traditional fare and featuring plenty of saucy barmaids. Kethiah and Isidor won’t abide fights there, but they do tolerate a good amount of good-natured rough-housing and drunkeness. The more elegant side, called the Nymph, has become a gallery of Tris’s ancestral art and Diamond’s new paintings of the heroes of Ald Raathim. It is a good place for a quiet drink, a fine meal, or a discreet meeting in one of the private rooms.

Goranthir, Prince of Firsthold, divides his time between the forest – where, like Thom and Nylus, he acts as a scout, using his animal-speaking abilities to watch out for trouble – and the ocean where he patrols the coastways aboard the Akarvina. He fought at the battle of Tel Silgrad, and was injured with a sword slash to the back of his head. In order for it to better heal, he shaved his head (much to the dismay of Tris and Allerleirauh), but it is growing back in.

OOC: 6 Months later

Ahjaar

Ahjaar is now engaged to Thom and her and Luxi are now living with him
She has been able to find someone who could give her work often, and she often leaves town for her work. (For those of you who don't know, Ahjaar is an assassin)

She keeps constantly up to date with the war, and is considering joining the army... but so far she's thinking no... so we'll see if she does.

Luxi

Luxi has kept to herself also, going to school, training with Ahjaar and reading books in the castle Library.

Shamakand has been silent for a few months, not glowing talking or even answering when Luxi talks to her.

OOC

During the past sixth months, the Breton Arynel has effectively avoided the bulk of the war, believing himself to be too unknowledgeable about the goings on to risk aiding either side, though he has some vested interest in the wellbeing of Ald Raathim and was somewhat dismayed by the turn of events at Vivec City.

He has spent his time traveling here and there, frequenting a tavern and leaving a verse behind. He was present at the Guildhouse for Sen-Yedda’s birthday, as well as the ceremony at Vivec City.

Shaka thought for a moment in his hut, in the small village of his birth. Few remembered him; and the great irony he had found in trying to talk to Argonian females was that although Shaka could be able with them, the females were unwilling; the mirror image of his experience before now.

A middle-aged outlander who talked funny and thought like a softskin? What a catch.

This didn't dismay Shaka as much as he had expected. The tribe refused to let him complete his manhood ordeals, refused to discuss the secret of the Hist. He found Argonia to be inward-looking, a land of provincial towns and squabbling clans. It was time to go home.

Shaka stood up within the hut and spoke aloud. It seemed strange after six months to shape the language of the humans again, instead of clicks and hisses.

"I would like to speak with Dres Loranna, if any can hear me," he managed to say at last, feeling a little foolish at talking to himself.

Despite the earliness of the hour, Loranna was in fact awake; the Lady had always been inclined to be an early riser, and by the time Goranthir asks for her, she is in her study, going over early reports.

"Hello Goranthir; what is it?" Loranna asks, greeting the young mer with a smile.

Vaan and Necron's six month Summary:

The first major development for Vaan was being ordained as a Muatramer (The Military Order of the New Temple). Being one of the first three, and having had ordinator experience, he was made one of four Grandmasters, each being in control of their own area of Muatramer Duties (War, Protection, Preserving, and Intelligence). Each Grandmaster answered to the Grand Commander.

Vaan was the Grandmaster of the protection unit, the bodyguards. It was their job to protect high ranking Temple officials all the time. And he had done such, it was hazardous at times, with allsorts of assassination attempts being made by countless different organisations and rogues. Not to mention Redoran and Indoril, who had the biggest differences with the New temple, A schism was in the air.

the Main HQ of the muatramer was in Vivec, with seperate HQ's in other cities, one in Vivec, Necrom, Mournhold, and Molag Mar. Vaan's HQ lay in Vivec, alongside the Main HQ, which was convenient for him, but also because before the fighting, most important Temple officials had been there.

At this present time the Temple hierachy had pulled back to Mournhold, so naturally, Vaan had gone too, along with a lot of the Order of protection.

Vivec was too dangerous to have anyone important be there.

Vaan was extremely impressed with his new http://home.wnm.net/~bgriff/MW/new_ordinator.jpg(OOC: Courtesy of Rhedd), which was the standard dress for all Muatramer, the colours were bronze and blue, naturally.

And thus, at this present time, Vaan was Standing on a Mournhold balcony, looking up at the beautiful night sky.

Necron was made the grandmaster of the Intelligence Order of the Muatramer, it was only natural, since he had been an Inquisitor. His job was to stop Infiltration on all levels of the temple from spies and such. And he had been kept busy all those six months doing just that. His HQ was based in Mournhold, because it was a good place to get information on counter-intelligence and all that kind of thing. Also, Mournhold was the place where the Muatramer needed to be spy-free, especially in more recent times.

(OOC: In the Absence of Josh, I shall describe what the order of preserving does. It's role is to protect holy sites and temple's from harm. it's HQ lies in Necrom, the largest Holy Site of them all.)

Loranna's face swiftly turns busineslike. "Indeed; we need to flush out any remaining scouts," she says, looking to Dragon. "How swiftly can we get patrols into that area?"

Thom's eyes opened and looked out the window. Seeing the sun barely filtering through the trees, the Imperial rose from his bed and donned his armor and cloak. Setting his sword in his belt sheath, Thom looked at the beautiful Khajiit still asleep in the large bed. Slowly, he walked over and kissed her on the cheek, before leaving the house and slipping into the forest. For him, the last few days of scouting were uneventful, which he was extremely happy about, and now he hoped that his luck would hold.

Shaka packed quickly. He wrapped the Spear of Bitter Mercy until it was no longer recognizable, and then pulled on a hooded robe.

He stood for a moment in the hut, debating whether there was anyone to say farewell to, but there wasn't even that, really.

Shaka formed the mudra of Recall and uttered the words, rusty after six months of disuse. He appeared not far from his Ald Raathim yurt.

The campsite was deserted at the moment, but Shaka was glad to see it wasn't overgrown. Shaka left the Spear in the hiding place under the yurt, and ran down the trail to Ald Raathim, casting the Feet of Notorgo to speed his journey.

He paused as he emerged from the woods, stunned at the bustling city that Ald Raathim had become during his absence.

Also, in those 6 months time he has managed to obtains the boots and greaves of that armor he's been called (Which he has dubbed Shapeshifter's Armor for lack of a more original name, and a need to name it something.) As this leaves only the pauldrons to be found, Reichi wears the Shapeshifter's armor instead of his usual netch.

From Frostfall to Rain’s Hand:

Just because Helseth did not wage war according to the ancient traditions of the Great Houses did not mean that others could not. The Morag Tong, Morrowind’s legal guild of assassins, in the past they were used in lieu of commoners to wage the Great Game of the Houses. Great House Indoril was first to call upon their services of the Forester’s Guild. Councilor Indoril Thoryn was rumored to have arranged the first exchange between his House and the Mephalites. Not long following the massacre at Bal Therec was a public release of writs.

Let it be known:

These mer, present at the destruction of Bal Therec, are hence forth marked for swift and honorable execution in accordance to the lawful traditions and practice of the Morag Tong.

These names, borne under the sacred codes spun by Black Hands Mephala, have been allotted by PSJJJ.

Let none hinder on pain of sharing.

No member of the Royal family was included among in list of writs from Bal Therec or any list released after. It was speculated that neither House Redoran nor Indoril could afford the massive price of such a high ranked official’s death given the indefinite political climes of the West.

Six Month Summary: Trason the Cook

Trason continued working at the Nymph and Noggin for another four months until he took a small vacation to get in touch with himself. He was under alot of stress over the weeks. He took a trip back to Vvardenfell and visited his uncle who lived on the coast near Hla Oad. Vvardenfell was a very cautious place in these days, always on the look out, guards stationed everywhere imaginable, people frightened out of there minds... These were indeed dark hours for this nation. Trason was also very cautious as of late, but he still kept his cool. He made a trip back to the daedric shrine where he had been ambushed and watched as his group was slaughtered. With his new blade from Lucius, he cleared out that shrine and the weight from his shoulders lifted. During this time, Trason had grown a beard, and grown alot wiser during these 6 months. It may have been a short amount of time, but Trason felt alive! He did miss Ald Raathim though, and Isidor and Kethiah, and the kids... So he said "buh-bye" to his uncle and left back to Ald Raathim.

Six month Summary for Kratos:

The past six months for Kratos have consisted of being instated as Grandmaster of the Order of War in the newly decreed military branch of the New Temple called the Muatramer. The Muatramer headquarters for the Order of War is located in Molag Mar.

The Order of War consists of Temple crusaders and warriors bent on taking back cities and towns from the Indoril and Redoran in the name of the New Temple and the King of Morrowind. They play an integral role in the war by declaring and maintaining Temple law in the citizens of Morrowind by garrisoning troops in the cities they take back until the Order of Preserving can step in.

Kratos' latest excursion was the sack of Gnisis, in which he is residing at the moment with his army. He is having the tentative defenses of Gnisis built up before he embarks on a conquest of another Redoran controlled stronghold. With Gnisis in the Northwest and Molag Mar in the Southeast, the Order of War has found itself in a very advantageous position. Vivec is currently being contested over by Redoran, Indoril, and Muatramer forces.

Kratos is currently in his temporary command post in the abandoned Imperial Legion barracks. Having finished writing a report to the Grand Commander in Vivec about his recent success in gaining control of Gnisis and about bringing his army to a location to lay another seige to a Redoran controlled stronghold. He is calling a meeting of all of his commanders in the barracks to discuss what decisive vantage point to attack next.

6 Month Summary for Eats-With-Claws

Eats-With-Claws did not fight in the battle the army of Ald Raathim fought in. Instead he is in the Imperial city at the moment trying to talk his former buisness partners into financially backing House Dres's forces. At this rate the war will be over before they finally givve in.

Falco RedFlash

Much has happened to the crew of the Red Falcon. Or as it is known to the rest of the world: The Butcher of the Inner sea.

He has hired himself out as a privateer to the Redoran. Many Dres ships (For these are his favorite to attack) have been attacked, their crews mercilesly slaughtered. Then the corpses are mutilated and the rudders tied in one position, so that the ship will sail to the beaches of coatal towns.

Those unfortunate enough to discover the ships once they beach will always find one of the most grotesque sites imaginable. The walls are stained with blood. Entails, internal organs, and flesh of unknown origin are strewn about the floor.

Because of the horribly gruesome atrocities commited aboard these ships, the one responsible (whose identity is unknown except perhaps by Allie and her void rangers, although that is up to her) has become known as the Butcher of the Inner Sea.

All attempts to find the mysterious mass murder(s) have ended in failure.

Gnisis

Kratos called to meeting the commanders from his Muatramer army that had taken back Gnisis with him. As they all took a seat around a table, Kratos announced the reason they had been called. "I've brought you all to this meeting to consider which Redoran controlled city or stronghold to attack next." He informed them.

"I have informed the Grand Commander of our intentions and we've been given the go-ahead to assault another city or stronghold that we find advantageous for the war." He continued. "We must take into careful consideration where to attack and how we will approach them in battle." He finished.

They debated over such places as Khuul and Ald Velothi, but in the end Kratos had given the order to pack up the needed supplies and pick a few troops to stay and garrison Gnisis to defend it until they could send word to the Order of Preserving to come.

Kratos had ordered them to prepare to march. They were going to attack the ancient Dunmer stronghold of Berandas

The contact had been not at all what Kethiah had been expected. A smuggler who she had bribed into turning informant by asking Dram to turn the other eye to the illegal activities. Really a quite charming and helpful rogue, the Goldcat was.

Varnim Watch

Queen Dinara toured the ruins of the Indoril fortress which had stood there since Velothi’s time, and had been torn asunder. As much as she wept for her brother and her ancestral lands in the south being in the hands of the Indoril, she could understand too how wretched it must be for them. They had none of their ancient lands anymore, at all. Only Vvardenfell which they had retreated to, while the mainland was being taken, and the south.

Barenziah had scoffed at Dinara’s worries about the losses in Vvardenfell. The mainland was more important to take first, the Queen Mother had explained, and the crushing defeats that the Indoril and Redoran had suffered there they would not be able to recover from. With most of the mainland in their hands, they had the volcanic heart of Morrowind surrounded. And they would take that too over time.

One had to be patient.

Dinara watched while the emblems of the Indoril were ripped from the walls of the fortress and wondered if she could be.

Today, Thom headed west of Ald Raathim, instead of his usual south. And it paid off. As he slowly made his way through the trees, the Ranger found signs of recent travel not too far from town. After a few moments of following, Thom found a single figure glaring through the trees at the construction of some new house right on the edge of the city. The Dunmer was so concentrated on taking info that he didn't notice Thom until there was a dagger to his throat.

"Hello. Now, I think we should walk forward a bit and go talk to some of my friends. What do you think?" The Ranger said.

The Dunmer froze. "Well, I think that is a terrific idea, but I think I'll pass." He tried to jump away, but the dagger pressed just hard enough to lightly cut the mer. Feeling the blood, the Dunmer froze again. "Okay, maybe I will come with you."

Keeping his knife to the Dunmer's throat, Thom lead the Redoran scout out into the open and called for some guards. Soon, there was three guard around them, leading them straight to Dragon. "Hello, Dragon. I have a present for you."

Vvardenfell

The Muatramer army under Kratos' command passed through the gates of Gnisis and began to march over the bridge heading South to Berandas. He believed the fortifications he had instructed them to build would hold up in battle with the troops he would be leaving behind.

The siege equipment they had brought was slowing them down gradually, but Kratos had planned for this.
They would reach Berandas by nightfall and take the Redoran defenders by surprise.

He had a company of scouts patrol the area ahead of the main body of the army to bring back news of sentries and other forces that could be awaiting them on the way.

They had quite a long night planned for the Redoran soldiers, but first they would have to get there.

Posted by: Dagoth Lich Yesterday, 02:59 AM

Slyvos smiles, moving to the door and peaking down the hall curiously.

'hold on, let me get my things just in case.'

He proceeded to run down the hallway to the library, where he had left some of his enchanted items at from last night; hopefully no one had taken them...

Ald Raathim

Between the information learned from Kethiah's contact, and the intelligence gleaned from the scout Thom captured, Loranna learned that there was indeed a small, lost force of Redorans in her territory, keeping to the forests and trying to sneak away.

"No point in letting them run around loose," she declares. "We'll take a group of heroes and run them into the ground. Who's up for some action today?"

The actual battle shall happen in the next thread.
