The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Playing Houses
Posted by: Loranna Oct 19 2005, 07:25 AM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing
threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
Newcomers, we ask you to http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855
before starting up; everyone will be happier for it Also,
read http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737 as soon as
possible; this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of
disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character
at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are
encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for
some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is
not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there
for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP
You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna: Loranna has just heard about Tris's assumption of the
title Count of Sternhart, and has been invited to dinner at his place this
evening, a dinner she looks forward to despite the worrisome plume of smoke
visible even from Ald Raathim ...
She's also plotting doom for various people that we'll probably never meet, too

Summary
Helseth, King of Morrowind, is in Castle Mournhold, following a fiery
meeting with the ambassadors of House Indoril and House Redoran, where he
rejected their proposed new alliance. He also revealed to them that he had
destroyed the rogue members of House Indoril who had attacked the Queen Mother
... and everything else around them in a three mile radius.
Kethiah, ex-assassin and partner with Isidor at the Nymph and Noggin
tavern in Ald Raathim, is at the tavern, keeping busy.
Goranthir, Prince of Firsthold, has been watching the plume of smoke
down at the docks, trying to learn from the local fishermen what has happened.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Castle Mournhold
Helseth used the mirror in the study to communicate with his mother and
fiancee, who had left for one of the country houses.
"I see," said Barenziah after Helseth told her about the meeting, and
rejecting the new offer of alliance. "Did you keep your temper?"
"I bellowed a bit," Helseth acknowledged.
"It would be a good idea to have the wedding soon," Barenziah replied.

Vaan stood on the quayside of the docks at Ald Raathim,
mostly pondering the future.
his hands were behind his back, and he was pacing slowly. Yet more slowly, he
turned his whole form towards the plume of smoke, curious as to what it might
be.
Then, a hand fell upon his shoulder.
"Necron." Vaan said, flatly.
"Aye" responded the figure behind him. Vaan turned around again, to
reveal an old looking dunmer, with grey hair, and stern, but ancient, eyes.
Necron was wearing a Robe of Deepest red and black, the guild colours.
Vaan sighed with relief at the sight, and began to tell him everything that had
happened.

"Loranna," Kethiah said, stopping one of the merchants while he was

Over the past few months, Loranna had been getting better at figures, though
she still wasn't near Kallen's level of expertese. Still, her growing financial
sense suggested that doing business with this merchant would be a good idea;
his figures were pursuasive, and a little polite conversation to get a feel for
the mer's personality left Loranna feeling she could trust him.
Loranna places a few orders, looking ahead to the next spring planting now that
Ald Raathm was a bigger and more bustling community. She negotiates a little
with the merchant about prices and shipping times.

Tris caught Kethiah between merchants.
"Kethiah - I've been thinking, and I have a proposal for you. That large
upstairs room. I think Ald Raathim would benefit from a nice place where
meetings could be held. A place you could take ambassadors and priestesses and
queens, for an elegant meal and a few drinks, on neutral territory. Having a
banquet at the castle sets a tone which isn't always the right tone for the
sort of informal business we conduct here.
"Now, the place looks lovely, but it's a bit frontierish, because, well,
this is a frontier and it costs money to ship Argonian hardwoods. If you're
interested, I'll put up the money. Argonian panelling, a plasterer to do the
ceiling moldings, formal glass in the windows since they're too high for some
drunk to stumble and put an elbow through them. Paintings. Diamond's, of
course. But I have a house full of old Masters, and I'm going to get rid of
some of them to put in a handball court. That's what made me think of it in the
first place. A place to put the paintings. I know, I think of the decor first
and the function second. But it struck me as a good idea."

Kethiah laughed. "You are clearly a genius, Tris, because that lines up
very well with the plans already afoot for the Nymph. Since we're right on the
docks, Loranna is putting me in charge of fielding offers from various
merchants, and taking the best ones to her and Kallen. Cut back on the paperwork,
you know. There will be regular meetings, and I'm sure many if not most of them
will need to be confidential."
She told him more of her plans, and agreed that the tavern could be improved
even more, provided it continued to be rustic enough for the common sailors who
would be using it, but grand enough in its private salons for its other uses.
"What would you want in exchange to your monetary contributions, Tris? A
share of the business profits?"

Caves near Ald Raathim
Slashes hears the sounds of fighring from the other tunnel. "I think the
situation is well in hand." He says to the dunmer guard.
Slashes returns to the room with the stollen goods and gathers up the most
valuable. He puts gold and silver in a box, as much as he can carry.
He takes the crate through the tunnel and leaves it with the guard. He then
once again returns to the treasure hoard and gathers a box for the dunmer to
carry.
Once back through the tunnel he hands the dark elf guard the crate and picks up
the first one. "Let us get back to town. I am sure the townsfoalk will be
happy to see at least some of the stollen property returned."
Some time later
Slashes and the dunmer enter the town of Ald Raathim. They are quite a sight to
see. An argonian warrior with blood stains on his armor and a pauldron hanging
awkwardly with a large rent in it, a dunmer with a small hole in his cuirass
and a large blood satin around it, and both carrying heavy crates.
"I wish to speak with Dragon, or whoever is in charge!" The argonian
shouts.

Necron stood, facing the Plume, very, very, silenty.
Vaan shrugged, "It was fast....It just...happened."
Necron turned to him, "Let me just get this all straight, you met a
surviving ordinator, who after meeting you, proposed to one of the Triunes that
our order be re-established..."
Vaan nodded silenty.
"...And while you were speculating wildy, A crazy man stepped out of the
shadows, scrunched up your paper, and started spouting gibberish at you?"
They both laughed at the lack of necron's seriousness
Necron continued: "But Seriously Vaan, Archpatriach Solin was....spying on
you"
"I never thought of it like that Necron, I can't see why you see so much
into it..."
"because I was trained to! I was an inquisitor...and by the looks of
things....I'm about to return to that!" Necron said, smiling at the
somehwat innocent tone that Vaan was taking.
"I mean, seriously....Vaan, This is just...wierd, I was not
expecting this to ever happen, It's just so....sudden. One minute you're just
an washed up has-been....trying to re-gain some form of power....the
next....they hand you back everything you ever wanted..."
Vaan cut in: "Might do, it has not been confirmed yet..."
"Again...more innocence and nievity from you Vaan...The political
situation....is perfect for this...But back to the point Vaan, why was Solin
spying on you?"
Vaan shrugged again.
"Somethings not right there....I sense mistrust." Necron continued.
The conversation stopped there, Little else could be said, and to be honest,
both of them were confused, they stood now facing the smoke plume.
"Necron?" Asked Vaan, pointing to the Plume of smoke, "What's in
that direction?"
"Don't Know." Said Necron bluntly.

"Does that answer your question Vaan?" asked Necron.

Ald Raathim: beneath the Arena
In the athlete's training rooms beneath the Arena, Dragon was giving a speech.
The echoing concrete chamber was silent, except for the sounds of two hundred
males and females of all different races, breathing.
"Now. You all have worked hard for me, and I appreciate that. That's why
I'm going to tell you this first, before you hear it somewhere else. You've
done good work here, lasting work, work to be proud of.
"Shortly you're going to hear that there's a war in Morrowind. Indoril and
Redoran have rebelled against the King. Some of you are going to have to make
hard decisions.
"Lady Dres Loranna Pyrel is loyal to her king, and her Emperor. And more
than that, she's loyal to what they stand for. That no one part of the Empire
can oppress any other, no one race can oppress any other. That we all deserve
to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. This is Daruhn, and here all
dwell free.
"Now, I know that some of you who think that's not the way it should be.
If that's the way you think, well then, you're free to go, and no questions
asked. But if you want to stay, if the thought of someone tearing down your
good work makes you sick, then you're free to stay too. No one will speak a
word against you, no matter where you were born or what House you come from.
You all know the Lady, you've seen here with your own eyes, down in the
trenches. Has she ever oppressed any one of you? Asked you to do anything
without putting coin in your pocket to spend as you like?
"I know what I plan to do. I plan to stay here as long as I'm needed, and
defend the work I've done. Well, that's all I have to say. And I thank you for
listening to me."

Seeing that Vaan and the newcomer were still deep in
conversation, Shaka returned to the tavern. The docks were eerily quiet, as Ald
Raathim's construction had ceased for the day.
"Too many rumors flying around," said Shaka to no one in particular
as he reentered the Nymph and Noggin. "Maybe someone should use the guild
guide to Mournhold and see for themselves."

The recent destruction of Bal Tereg and the surrounding area have been
confirmed to be the stamping out of the renegades who attacked the Queen Mother
some weeks ago. There is no reason to worry that other communities shall be
suffering the same fate; the renegades have been accounted for.
These are stark times we live in, but the people of Ald Raathim are strong; we
are the people who repulsed the Azurites from our shores, protecting countless
refugees from their evil. We have all lived through stark times, and shall
endure and prosper in the future.

"Yes," said Kethiah. "Bal Tereg, quite a ways away to the south-east. Indoril territory. I just put a notice about it on the bulletin board, per her ladyship's request."
"Ah." Isidor said, "So, this is how it starts." He shook
his head.

Necron put his hand on Vaan's shoulder again.
"Come, there's a new Tavern open, called the the Nymph and Noggin, let's
go there, and maybe some good news will arrive."
Vaan obeyed without hesitation. When they arrived outside the Tavern, they saw
this:
QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Oct 19 2005, 02:57 PM)
The
recent destruction of Bal Tereg and the surrounding area have been confirmed to
be the stamping out of the renegades who attacked the Queen Mother some weeks
ago. There is no reason to worry that other communities shall be suffering the
same fate; the renegades have been accounted for.
These are stark times we live in, but the people of Ald Raathim are strong; we
are the people who repulsed the Azurites from our shores, protecting countless
refugees from their evil. We have all lived through stark times, and shall
endure and prosper in the future.
"Well, at least it wasn't a temple." Mused Vaan, somewhat
optimistically.Necron;s reply was not so enthusiastic however:
"It's bad, nevertheless, the Political side of this is catastrophic Vaan,
who knows what the aftereffects of such a thing will be?"
Without further words, they both headed inside the new Tavern.

"Dear, maybe you should put that other notice up as well we just talked

Walking over to Goranthir, she says quietly "Dear, come with me to my
study. We'll contact your grandmother, make sure she's all
right." She puts her hand on Gornthir's shoulder gently,
supportively.
"Where's Allie?" Tris said. "She'll know."
He wasn't worried that Barenziah was dead. Not for even an eyeblink or a skip
of the heart. But it did worry him that the General had left him so completely
out of her network. Who was she using to spy, with Doll and Mirea both gone?
Old Dragon?
Allerleirauh was waiting for them, in Loranna's study.

Slashes looked at one of the construction workers, "You, tell me. I have

"Ah yes" Said Necron "I know how to use these well"
Vaan shot a disgruntled look at him. Necron laughed.
"Of course, you're not familiar with using Enchanted items, are you?
That's understandable" he added.
"Actually, we owe our present Ordinator situation to that, I had to go to
the mages guild to find out how to work the stones, that's where I met
Kratos." Vaan replied.
"come to think of it, Vaan, where is Kratos? I'd like to meet him."
probed Necron.
Vaan shrugged "I don't know, necron, I don't keep tabs on him. Anyway,
back to the point.." (and pulling out the other two stones, he carried on)
"I have myself one Command Humanoid stone, and one Detect Humanoid stone,
along with the knowledge of how to use them. If I strap them to the back of my
hands, they are easier to use on a whim, only, I need some leather straps to do
that...."
Necron, luckily, had some, and gave them to Vaan. The stones, luckily, were
comfortable when strapped to the back of the hand, there were no inconveniences
to it, since the stone seemed almost designed to be there, their shape (being
mostly flat and a tiny bit rounded) was perfect for it. as an extra plus, the
stones had quite an aesthetic quality to them too.
"There." Mused Vaan "Perfect."

OOC Summary
Reichi's hanging around the Nymph and Noggin, after the grand opening party and
subsquent hangovers that ensue the following day.
---
Reichi stood outside the Nymph, staring at the plume of smoke as so many others
had, he knew what it was from the bullentin board, and it was worrysome news.
But then again, Ald Raathim had survived the Azurites, and as untrained as they
could be, they had winged twilights. Even the weakest little Azurite child
could bring a winged Daedra screaming on you. Reichi could remeber the
twilight-filled skies, how they could tear into ground based fighters with
ease. The sheer terror they could evoke in troops.
Redoran and Indoril, if they ever even thought of storming down here, couldn't
put up that much of a fight, right? Reichi shook his head, even if they could,
with the folks here, well, they might as well throw themselves on their own
blades. Reichi sighed, then reflected that things wouldn't be so dull
around here anymore.

forgotten -- unforgivably forgotten -- that was needed.
Dragon emerged from the castle with the news. Organization could be dealt with
later. In the meantime, there was a lot of shouting and cheering.
"I think this Redguard looks like an officer!" Dragon shouted.
"What do you think, does Danda Masterhouse look like an officer to
you?"
Cheering.
Clearly no work would get done today. Dragon sent the men off, and went to talk
to Slashes-with-Claws.
"Any military experience?" he asked. "We could use you."

Kratos
dropped his book on the table and turned around to face Necron.
"I've remained loyal to the Temple as always, and one rejection of a
proposal is not going to change that anytime soon." He replied.
"The war that is coming is between the Great Houses and the King. I
wouldn't think the Temple could be attacked so blatantly. Indoril and Redoran
are still loyal to the Temple." He stated.
“I wouldn’t think the temple's own would utilize such underhanded tactics, or
ignore the whim of one of their tribunes,” Arynel said.
“A fool can overthrow an army,” the Breton said, “so much more a wise man.”

Vaan, once again, continued off from here: "Politics are wierd, Sure, the
temple stands in a good postion now, but people change, as do governments, and
opinions. This war may be turn out to change the face of our Homeland, and the
new face could be anything, We need to protect the temple and it's

possibilities of a hostile government that could emerge from this!"
Necron carried on: "the possibilities and possible threats are endless
Kratos, we, the temple, needs to be prepared for it all. I feel, somehow, the
new ordinators can facilitate the safety of the future."
Vaan finished "This War.....anything could happen. the temple needs to be
prepared."
Necron chimed in an afterthought, "The problem is.....there are but three
of us!" he wasn't seriously worried about that though.
then Vaan added, "Even if they do reject us, we need to act no
differently, nothing changes, it's just that, with an Ordinator corp, solving
all that was just said, will be ten times easier."
This speech, they directed at Arynel as well as Kratos.

Tris shook his head. "Everything I had planned seems like a house of cards
now. Goranthir, I came here to invite you to dinner with me... nothing formal,
my father just died. But I didn't want to eat dinner with my family without a
couple of close friends there. I'll be back, and then we'll do that, assuming
nothing else explodes into flames."
Tris gave thanks for his sister. Iolanthe would handle his business, if he let
her.
His first stop was in Daggerfall, at the Rat's Satchel, a bar of shady
reputation, where Tris was well-known.
Bryn was already drinking.
Tris set a heavy purse down on the bar beside him, and Bryn looked up.
"By Kynareth, don't do that here! Oh, it's you. I already said no, go
away."
"This is because you said no," Tris said. "Go on, throw
it back in my face, tell me to keep my dirty money."
Bryn looked resentful. He was drinking too much; times were bad, and he didn't
appreciate being twitted about it.
"That money's a gift," Tris said. He set another purse down beside
the first. "This one's promotion money. What have you heard about Ald
Raathim?"
"New Arena there," Bryn said. "Doesn't matter. No one wants to
risk Morrowind. The air's like poison, six months of living there will crush
any athlete. Haven't you heard the way Dunmer speak? And besides rumor says
there's war coming."
"Don't worry about the war," Tris said. "War's coming everywhere
when our blessed Emperor's heart finally fails. Ald Raathim's safe as houses.
You tell everyone you know on the circuit. Travel. Tell them to come to the
games, big purse money for the footraces at Ald Raathim. It will be announced
soon."
"This is big money," Bryn said, opening the strings of the bag
and looking inside. "It's not counterfeit?"
"My father died," Tris said, and left Bryn sitting with his mouth
open.
He ran. And ended up in Tear, where he asked to be introduced to her majesty
Barenziah.

Alexi hurried through the passageways. He made his waay
through at least 5 more brigands before reaching a very large chamber. Standing
there was one of the largest nords he had ever seen, and 16 more bandits.
The nord grinned, "So you'r the one who been causing the trouble." He
rumbled. Alexi grinned back, "Yes." He said. Then let loose. His
fireball struck the nord in the chest, sending him backwards smoking. Alexi
darted forward, cutting down one surprised bandit before he could move. The
rest of them snapped out of their surprise and went on the offensive, but alexi
was in his element. There wasn't enough room for large swings and shields would
just get in the way. Alexi's short sword and dagger combination were perfectly
suited for such a fight though.
He used their numbers against them, dodging through the bandits and never
fighting more than one at a time. The three archers couldn't get a clear shot
either, Alexi always positioning one man in thier way. Alexi's blade took down
one then two then three then four. The dead piled around him. Alexi was careful
not to trip. One bandit wasn't as quick on his feet. He stumbled and Alexi's
blade tor his throat out.
The other bandits started to get desperate. They made mistakes. An arrow shot
off, missing a bandit, and Alexi, by an inch. The bandit flinched and Alexi's
dagger burried into his chest before withdrawing. Alexi enjoyed the blood
flowing through him. It had been so long since he had had so much fun, he'd
forgotten how it was to take a man's life. Another bandit moved a second too
slow and fell gurgling in his own blood. Alexi had taken minor wounds, but
everytime he killed an enemy he healed and continued fighting.
The remaining five fighters backed off to give the archers a chance to fire.
The first shot missed, as did the second. The third bounced off Alexi's blade.
He grinned and tossed his dagger, catching one archer in the throat. Another
dagger appeared and flew out, taking a bandit in the eye who thought he could
sneak up on Alexi. His last dagger came out and he charged one off the archers.
A hastely shot arrow glanced off the chainmail on Alexi's torso before the tip
of his sword pierced his enemy's throat. The remaining arhcer dropped his bow
and ran, soon followed by the remaining four bandits. Alexi grinned and went
after them.

The captain's cabin of the Red Falcon,

Falco awoke surprised Heelja wasn't lying next to him. Must've left already
He drressed himself, sat at his desk, and began writing a letter.
The deck of the Red Falcon
Heelja stared out at the ocean, pondering where Falco was taking the ship. She
smiled a bit, knowing that she was the favored crew member. That position was
one most saught after. It meant a warm bed, extra rations, and the captain
often showed leniency should she break a rule of the ship. Should Heelja choose
to, she could probably get away with the murder of another crewman (A VERY
serious offense with just a warning). She smiled a sly smile, knowing that hers
was a position of power, for she alone could influence the decisions of their
captain.
Below Deck
The crew was whispering where they could go next. Many wanted to head South
into Black Marsh. Others wanted to try their luck hunting mead-carrying ships.
Others who had heard the rumors that war was coming wanted to ply the pirate's
favorite trade, privateering. All wondered and speculated. Falco was due to
announce their destination later today.

Trason made his way to the local weapons smith in Ald Raathim. There were lines
out the doors... When people saw that smoke, they knew that they should brace
themselves. They all ran to buy weapons and armor, even though alot of the

A man's head peeked out the door leading to the back.

off quickly.
"LOOK LUCIUS, Im asking for a favor, and I do recall doing a lot of odd
jobs for yourself. Give me something, and we will catch up another time."
Lucius simply nodded and walked into the back. A few minutes later he came out
with a medium sized sword.
"Pure ebony... If you lose this Trason, I'll have your head." Lucius
said.
"Thank the heavens for you Lucius"
Trason grabbed the sword and dashed back to his room at the Nymph and Noggin.
If there was going to be a fight, he wasn't going to run this time.

Once they were all there, vaan started, bluntly.
"I don't think that being ordinators again will work."
Necron raised his eyebrows, for him, today had been confusing.
"We have gained independant thought, our own thoughts, for years, we have
lived our own lives, been independant. and frankly, we have lost our ordinator
ways. Now, maybe it's the alcohol saying this, but I think that we should NOT
go ahead with rebuilding our order. We're looking....for something else
now....ordinators do not do what we are looking for, and we can't change the
Doctrine of the order. Let's just let our order stay as it is....in the minds
of three, eh?"
Necron nodded "We are looking to be Temple Warriors and protectors, not
Enforcers of Temple law."
They both turned to Kratos, awaiting what the poor man would say.
Vaan felt sorry for him, having his dreams shattered like this, he almost felt
as if....he had betrayed him....
"This isn't the end though, our minds still have it all." he added,
for reassurance's sake.

"We have gained independant thought, our own thoughts, for years, we have
lived our own lives, been independant. and frankly, we have lost our
ordinator ways. Now, maybe it's the alcohol saying this, but I think that
we should NOT go ahead with rebuilding our order. We're looking....for
something else now....ordinators do not do what we are looking for, and we
can't change the Doctrine of the order. Let's just let our order stay as
it is....in the minds of three, eh?"
Necron nodded "We are looking to be Temple Warriors and protectors, not Enforcers
of Temple law."
They both turned to Kratos, awaiting what the poor man would say.
Vaan felt sorry for him, having his dreams shattered like this, he almost felt
as if....he had betrayed him....
"This isn't the end though, our minds still have it all." he added,
for reassurance's sake.
Kratos stared at the ground for a moment, pondering.
"I..I don't know what to say... Maybe it's for the best. Yes, if it's for
the good of all people in Morrowind, I will support it." He replied,
lifting his head up.
"Our order is phased out, we need to start new instead of reverting to old
ways." He couldn't believe he was saying this. "Maybe we could
suggest a new type of force to the Temple. They will be in need of a war branch
soon enough and we can provide this somehow." He remarked.

He sat down, and said, "Hello, Arynel. I just had a question- or two- for

"It is a good strategy, one I should have been prepared for as rumors of
war began. I will draft an agreement at once for your and the Lady's
approval, and then get scribes to duplicate it for the entire cohors."
Kallen had always spoken to Dragon with politeness, but there was more respect
than ever in his voice. The old man had organized something Kallen had
forgotten -- unforgivably forgotten -- that was needed.
Loranna's Study
Kallen was effecient and swift; in little time he had a proposal ready for
Loranna, and she read it over, carefully.
"It looks good," she says after carefully reading through the

She
cocked her head, listening to Vaan speak with the would-be Ordinator who had
approached her before.
"If I may, friend," Allerleirauh said. "Comfort is given,
justice is taken; this is a time for comfort. It does you great honor
that you do not feel good about war; war is a blight upon the land. But
you need not tremble, and you will not be alone. Lord Vivec was a great leader
in time of war, and he has not deserted this land."
Vaan recognised Allereirauh's face, they had first met in Sentinel, though
perhaps she did not remember, he smiled, since that time, her tone had been
less friendly, as she was questioning his guilds use of language.
"Those are uplifting words, Archpatriarch, I thankyou for this gift of
tongue and optimism that you give me. it reminds me, of a saying, actually:
"If Vivec is for us, who can stand against us?" "
He smiled, and continued:
"Say, perchance, is the Holy Temple making preparations, for this tide of
war, ma'am?"

Jelsia entered the room. She was veiled, as was the temple custom at certain
times of purification.
"There you are, my daughter," Solena said. "Good, you are both

"Jelsia is not senior enough to lead a House, much less a new

Eerie trumpets sounded; they were made of shell, and the sound was high and
piercing and seemed to come from farther away than it did. Then the whistling
of many bone flutes. The double bronze doors at the far end of the chamber
opened, and twelve Temple servants, naked men, entered the room, bearing a

Upon the litter sat a merish woman. She was entirely covered in gold paint,
naked except for a wig of gold wire and a veil which covered her face except

she was Dunmer.
The Great Censer, a firey cauldron as wide as a man is tall, was lowered from

The Dunmer Priestess kneeling in the coals sat upright. Even a Dunmer could not
endure such intense flames for so long; there must have been something in the
incense. It filled the room, a violet, choking cloud. Maranda began to feel
light-headed, and the colors seemed brighter, the wild animals sounds of the
people yipped and wailing and screaming began to make sense.
Solena Caro, standing with her arms outstretched, seemed more beautiful than
was possible.
"Morrowind, where the heart rests in a tomb of flames," the Dunmer
Priestess said, in a language Maranda would not have been able to understand,
if not for the incense working its magic in her. "Ald Raathim, seat of an
ancient line of kings. Power and passion, beauty in its purest, most
concentrated form, unbearable to all but the Initiated..."
Solena Cara spoke:
"The new Rite, suited to the Province and People of Morrowind, shall be
the Rite of the Passion of the Fiery Heart of Dibella."
The twelve temple workers helped the Priestess from the flames; she fainted,
and they tended to her.

QUOTE(Allerleirauh @ Oct 20 2005, 03:11 PM)
The
Dunmer Priestess kneeling in the coals sat upright. Even a Dunmer could not
endure such intense flames for so long; there must have been something in
the incense.
"Morrowind, where the heart rests in a tomb of flames," the
Dunmer Priestess said, in a language Maranda would not have been able to
understand, if not for the incense working its magic in her. "Ald Raathim,
seat of an ancient line of kings. Power and passion, beauty in its purest, most
concentrated form, unbearable to all but the Initiated..."
Solena Cara spoke:
"The new Rite, suited to the Province and People of Morrowind, shall be
the Rite of the Passion of the Fiery Heart of Dibella."
The twelve temple workers helped the Priestess from the flames; she
fainted, and they tended to her.
Several Hours Later
'Once more I am packing, its going to be an annoying trip' Maranda said, 'I
dont really WANT to go back to Ald Raatham, but its where I am being
stationed,' Maranda packed her Ferret in her bag, and looked at Jelsia, 'Are
you looking foward to this? I've been there before, Loranna is a nice person,
lots of interesting people visit...' she paused and thought about somthing for
a bit, 'You do realize Tris Allie and Goran would most proberly be there? Dont
worry, though I will help you out if you find yourself in trouble' she smiled
once more

Jelsia didn't answer immediately. She was thinking about how dangerous it was
to bring the ferret with them. Daedra were looking for that ferret. She had
never seen a Daedra, and didn't want to.
"Is it really as safe as you said?" Jelsia said. "Morrowind,
I've heard such bad things about the place. They have slaves there, and they
aren't loyal to the Empire."

was taken aback for a moment. Lizard-man?
"I choose this," he said. "If I haven't gone mad after

"But as for Anya being able to take care of herself, no argument

He looked at the dark elf, half his age yet one who had seen more of battle
than he ever had. What had he been thinking, to carry her here and show
her his place?
Still, he didn't regret making himself a fool for such as Anya and Telera.
Seeing Shaka’s response to the lizard-man comment, she instantly regretted
saying it. She had meant it as a playful jab at his insistence on referring to
Anya as mammal earlier, but it was obviously much more serious to him than it
was to her. “Good, then I won’t catch you bemoaning the fact that you are
Argonian and Anya Bosmer again."

3E397 Evermore, Highrock
'Lord Landon! We must flee now!' the soldier said
'No, we cant, we must wait for the Baron to Return!' Lord Landon replied,
'Manavrio is on to us, yes, but if he gets the jewels, all is lost!'
'Hes right, Dragonstar has fallen, its only a matter of time before this city
falls. But even so, the Jewels are far more Important,' Zoranzar replied, 'I
must prepare for the Ritual,' the Mage disappeared into the backroom.
'And now we wait,' Landon said slowly, 'wait for Baron Biennie to return'
Several hours passed as the storm became stronger, howling could be heard from
the back room, as Zoranzar returned, his golden skin sullen from the long
nights work, 'the ritual is ready, where is that baron? He should be here by
now…' the door burst open, and in walked Baron Biennie, his leather cloak
stained by the rain, his face scratched by the battles, 'I believe we have
mislead him for the time being, is the ritual ready?'
'Yes it is,' Zoranzar replied angrily, 'you took your time'
'Be quiet!' Baron Biennie replied somewhat angrily, 'we must start immediately'
the three of them made their way into a back room, covered in runes, with five
cages on the edge of a Penticle. Daedric letters lined the stars outer edges,
but a language Biennie or Landon could not decipher. Within the cages were five
animals, a cat, a dog, a ferret, an owl and a rat, 'Place a jewel on each of
the cages,' Zoranzar said, as he stood in the centre of the circle. The two
nobles placed the stones on each of the cages, as the Altmer began his chant.
The Penticle glowed a faint red colour, and those sensitive to the power of
Magicka could feel something coming…
'Pasha zarantra loras modrast
hesra possed contra lonetsr'
'Stones of the demons be gone!' Yelled the mage, as a bright light engulfed the
room, and the stones were… gone.
'I'm drained, take the animals and go, I'll hold off Manavrio if he arrives,
give me time to rest!'
'How do we dispell this enchantment?' Landon asked
You need an elemental alter to remove it. Your associate, Melenvar Ciccero has
taken the Sigil Pendent for safe keeping. Even if he gets all the stones, they
will be useless without the pendent! Quickly, go! Out the back door, I sense
someone coming!' Zoranzar said, before the scream of a guard was heard in the
next room. The two nobles gathered the animals and ran… out the back door, as
Zoranzar prepared to face his foe
'Manavrio, today you meet your end!' the Altmer yelled as the Lich slowly made
his way into the room, 'You will never get the stones, NEVER!'
'And how do you intend to stop me?' asked the Lich
Zoranzar placed his hands together, 'Like this!' he yelled, whilst praying in
his head, 'I'm sorry Baron, for not keeping my promise'
The explosion ripped through the building destroying much of the city block,
setting houses on fire in neighbouring blocks. The two nobles only just escaped
the radius of the blast, stopped and turned around, saying a silent prayer for
their fallen comrade, they mounted their horses, and made their way to Wayrest

Loranna's Study
Loranna had kept in the background while Goranthir spoke with Barenziah, struggling
to keep her mind from racing too far ahead. Now that war was actually here,
there were a million things that suggested themselves as needing to be done,
and Loranna had to remind herself that she wasn't expected to do all of them
herself - a good noble is supposed to know when to delegate.
Still, it was hard; she had studied to be a healer partly to help her friends
in action, but Ald Raathim needed her as a noble more than a healer now ...
Allie's entrnce rouses Loranna from her thoughts, and she smiles. "Hail

Loranna smiles to Goranthir. "Dragon and I discussed sea defenses
some earlier; we should talk to him about that ..."
"As dearly as I adore Dragon, he's not an admiral," Allerleirauh
said. "What you need is Aricyn. Goranthir, I hereby appoint you head of
the Ald Raathim Naval Defense League... until such time as someone thinks of a

"I
live in dread of the time I'm called for Temple duties and the Priestess of
Dibella looks me over and says, eh, not you," Tris said, with a
smile that said he was just a little serious, but not very. "Anyway, I'll
be getting properly into shape again soon. The Arena in Ald Raathim will be
opening, and if anyone other than me wins the first race there I'll have to fall
on my sword."
He laughed. "I want to stay here all night, but I've promised to go
back."
It was for her to kiss him, and not the other way around. He thought, looking
into her eyes, that he had been a fool to sleep alone last night.
Barenziah chuckled. "Yes, I remember that race in Ald Raathim on the
parraptons when Goranthir beat you ... or it was a tie ... he said you were
very angry about that."
She retreated slightly, to pour a glass of wine, gesturing for him to do the
same if he wished. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you what I was going to do
with young Lyonswurst. It wasn't entirely for you I did it. He was a blight on a
good family name, and his death if not his life at least accomplished something
good."

“I don’t mind,” Telera said, all trace of tension erased. Noting Shaka’s expression, she wondered idly what he was thinking about right now, then she dove under him, lightly tugged his tail and took off as fast as she could swim.
Startled, he laughed. "Minx!" he called out, and gave chase.

Well, there was an exception to the rule that he couldn't kiss her first. He

He was clearly not going to arrive in time for dinner tonight. His sister would

him.
He thought of this only for a moment, and then not again for quite a long time.

Kethiah, as usual, had not been still. In addition to the various meetings she

But then she found Isidor. "We should go to school and walk the children
