The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Playing Houses

Posted by: Loranna Oct 14 2005, 02:11 AM

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

Newcomers, we ask you to
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855 before starting up; everyone will be happier for it smile.gifAlso, read http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737 as soon as possible; this will give you an idea of who is in the RP.

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP, on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From there, type /join #Loranna_RP

You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Oct 13 2005, 06:04 PM)

Lyonswurst House, High Rock
Laurent Lyonswurst escorted Erilyn across the lawn towards the stable.  The hedges and bushes were formally laid out, perfectly trimmed, with not a dead spot or a stray leaf or twig.  He picked her a red rose for her to carry as they walked.

"My private stables are right through the woods, past the well," Laurent was saying, smiling, and not dropping his expression, he punched her hard in the belly. "But you still stink."

He grabbed her by her hair to drag her towards the well.

*

Erilyn was, of course, a bit more than she seemed, and just at the last moment saw the punch coming. Her only reaction, however, was to tense her belly and bend with the blow.

It was a less effective reaction than one would think. As she collapsed to her knees and retched, she felt her hair grabbed roughly.

When she saw where she was being dragged, she screamed.

ooc summaries:

Allie and Tris are in the same place at the same time doing the same thing! Well... not exactly the same thing. On second thought, maybe it's none of your business what they're doing.

They're with Goranthir, in an abandoned parrapton nest, just outside Ald Raathim.

Mirea is at Ivytyde Manor, with Quill.

QUOTE(Xyber02 @ Oct 13 2005, 05:00 PM)

Anya stood up, brushing herself off. Her mind abuzz with emotions. She tried to change her train of thought, "You're, um, getting better. Much faster than last time. Yeah, much better."

"Um, how about that drink now?"

*

“A drink sounds good,” Telera agreed. She could still feel Anya’s lip pressed against hers, Anya’s body against her own… Telera tried to terminate that line of thought, not her place to think that. “A drink.”

Posted by: Sheogorath Oct 14 2005, 02:17 AM

Summary

Goranthir, Prince of Firsthold, is ... well, he's in a silk nest in Ald Raathim, rolling around nekkid with Allerleirauh and Tris, if you must know.

Laurent Lyonswurst is at his estate in High Rock, beating up a "prostitute" (actually an agent of Herwyn Brand, the Spymaster of Wayrest) and about to toss her down a well. He's a psychopath, by the by.

Quill is in Ivytyde House with Mirea, weirdly enough wishing he was at Lyonswurst House to see Laurent get what's coming.

And in more down-to-earth goings on ...

Kethiah, former assassin, is getting the new tavern in Ald Raathim, the Nymph and Noggin, set up for business with her partner and lover Isidor. She has recently hired on Diamond as a barmaid, and is looking for a cook ...

Posted by: vaanic~one Oct 14 2005, 02:19 AM

OOC Summary: Vaan is in the Drunken Guar, trying to work out how some magical stones work...

Though, if one of those things does start working in the Tavern, someone will be in for a nasty surprise...

Posted by: Argonians rule Oct 14 2005, 02:21 AM

OOC: The Red Falcon is currently being pursued by 2 imperial ships towards the Sheogorad region. It is a truly high speed chase with tons of special effects (No CG stuff).

IC: The crew of the Red Falcon was growing nervous, if they moved left or right they would be intercepted by one of the enemy ships, not to mention their captain's solution is borderline suicidal. Falco could see the tiny islands on the horizonShouldn't be more than another few hours

Posted by: syronj Oct 14 2005, 02:21 AM

Summary: Shaka, an Argonian, has finished soultrapping a Golden Saint to pay for a sculpture by Diamond.

"Shut up," Laurent chuckled, grabbing her neck, shutting off the noise and air. His hand was huge and strong. "It's time for your bath."

The well was high with water and she didn't fall more than ten feet. But the sides of the well were slick with moss.

Laurent sat on the side of the well, beaming down at her, holding the bucket and rope in his hand.

The water was cold, and threatened to cramp Erilyn's already aching belly. She kicked off her slippers and tried to find a secure hold on the side of the well, but to no avail.

Letting herself sink under the water, she let out a gurgling cry and stretched out her pleading hand for the rope.

"Drop her the rope," Herwyn said from behind the laughing Laurent, and he could feel the power of the ring in his voice as he spoke.

Drakar is in Gnisis waiting with the rest of the Redoran Council for the arrival of the Indoril Emissary.

Ver'dan is in Blacklight with the 'Freebooter' recruiting sailors and waiting for work on the 'Privateer' to be completed.

Benar is in Khuul doing what Benar loves best, analyzing information.

Somewhere West of the Sheogorad Isles there is a Imperial Commander wondering if he will get in range of the Pirate ship 'Red Flacon' so the Imperial Battlemages can do their stuff. As the Islands start to come into view it is begining to look very unlikely.

Anya found her and Telera an unoccupied booth. Waving a barmaid over, she ordered some food to snack on and a drink.

What is happening? Anya had never felt a physical attraction to women, certainly not before. Am I just starved for genuine care?

Throwing away the difficult thoughts, she took a long drink from her mug.

Summary:

Thom and Ahjaar did eventually go to the Drunken Guar, where they had some drinks. After a while, Ahjaar went back to the castle to see Luxi, and Thom made his way back to his camp. Currently, Thom is on his way back to town.

"Now help her up," said Herwyn, watching as the man unquestioningly did so.

Erilyn gave Herwyn a look of relief, and squeezed the chill water out of her hair.

"Now then, Lord Lyonswurst," said Herwyn. "we're all going to go up to your study and have a little chat. I need you to do some paperwork for me.

"Please be so kind as to lead us by whatever way you usually use, when escorting young ladies such as this, but ensure that we pass a servant or two, if you don't mind.

"Just tell them to mind their own business, if they ask."

Erilyn gave Herwyn a surprised, questioning look. She had never thought of her Spymaster as being all that imposing a figure.

Laurent Lyonswurst did as he was told, but he wasn't sure why. What seemed like a better plan was to let the girl soak for a while longer. and then chew on the softest parts of her while she lay on the grass too exhausted to do anything but scream. What seemed like a better plan was to pull this fellow's eyes out, and drop coals on his naked body.

But for some reason, it also struck Laurent as perfectly reasonable just to do whatever this fellow said.

He led them into the house, and into the library where he had attempted to eat Tris earlier. And they did pass a servant along the way, but the servants in Lyonswurst House do not speak to their master unless spoken to.

"Get whatever pen, ink, and paper you usually use for correspondence, Lyonswurst. I wish you to write a few letters for me.

"And call for some towels for the poor girl, here. Shame on you for making her freeze.

"Oh, and one other thing, M'lord... If you keep a private journal, do fetch it for me, will you?"

Telera sat quietly with Anya, not sure how to start a conversation about what had happened with Anya. She didn’t touch her drink as she looked over at Anya. Anya, what to do there? She worried that she may have hurt Anya earlier, maybe Anya didn’t want that , maybe-the barmaid interrupted Telera’s thoughts to hand her a note the barkeep had been keeping it for her:

I'm leaving. Someday I'll be back. I don't know when.

She knew almost instantly that it had to be Shai who had written this. Shai had left Ald Raathim and she would not be back for a long time. Telera didn’t know what this meant for her anymore.

She took a gulp of her own drink before turning to Anya to ask nervously, “Want to talk?”

Within a few minutes, the servants had brought quill, ink, parchment, and his lordship's best towels. Laurent brought out from a secret room in the library his eight volumes of journal, which were all in code. Just the key for the symbols was enough to make any healthy person sick to their stomach.

Laurent had taken a dislike to Herwyn Brand. He hadn't killed many people in his career, at least not directly, but Brand would be a fine exception. It would really be a pleasure, Laurent thought, to say "No" to any of these requests. And then it would be a pleasure to immobilize Herwyn Brand, put him in a room with a mirror, so he could watch the terrible things being done to his body, but not be able to move ... That would be nice. Very nice.

Instead, it seemed, Laurent was going to write. A very poor substitute, but it seemed he had no choice.

(OOC:)
Isidor, male Nord, is working on his newly bought tavern, with his lover, and business partner, Kethiah.

Isidor's children, Tyradil and Tilitalia, are sleeping, after their homework.

Tsei, female Argonian, is somewhere in Daggerfall. Hmm ...

Solise, female Breton, is in a room of the Drunken Guar, dozing off, after talking with Marien about her profession.

IC: After working for a while longer, setting up tables and chairs in the tavern's main room, Isidor asked Kethiah "Now that the liquor has come in, would you like a drink? I know I would."

Summaries

The past thread was a big one for Marein, Shai, Diamond, and the Moonguard Nobles.

Marein has healed slightly. He was charming around the traveling mystery, Solise; he is now in the Guar.

Shai ran away, wanting to see the world. She left a single brief message for Telera.

Diamond got a comission from Shaka for a jeweled carving to hang in the Nymph and Noggin. Her financial troubles increased, but were quelled by fantastic news: She now has steady employment at the Nymph, and a steady set of comissions: Wall-Hanging reliefs of Ald Raathim's heroes.

The Lord and Lady of Moonguard were about to leave Valenwood and head east when an old friend of Marein's from his revolutionary days, thinking fast on his feet, deflected them to Hammerfell.

Posted by: syronj Oct 14 2005, 04:17 AM

Before Recalling to his campsite, Shaka walked to Diamond's shop. He planned to give her the filled soulgem; perhaps she would know where to get the best price for it.

Shaka found the shop closed, but didn't feel like leaving Ald Raathim just yet. He found himself walking to the docks again, to check both the new construction and the Nymph and Noggin.

Diamond's limp was pronounced. But Shaka had to admit she was uncomplaining, and even holding down a second job. It was humbling to him to realize it.

He turned to the ranger. "Thom, I think they bought the inn only this week or so. I'm glad for them."

"I've gotten all sorts of advice, from finding help in the House of Dibella to getting drunk and finding another girl. It's just more than I know how to handle, and I don't know what to do. And when you kissed me, several feelings came that I was never expecting, like with Maranda."

After a while, he got up and walked outside. Gesturing in Recall, Shaka appeared near his yurt in the woods. Time to call it a day.

High Rock

QUOTE(Rhedd @ Oct 13 2005, 06:41 PM)

Herwyn looked over the parchments, and blew lightly to dry the fresh ink. He read the words that he had dictated to Laurent, making sure Tris Gaerington's name was mentioned in all the right places.

"Alas, Lord Lyonswurst, these documents, along with your..." Herwyn cringed to think of man's diary, "...journal, don't really paint you in the best light.

"You should know that I work for the Queen of Wayrest. You should hereby consider yourself in my custody, in the name of Queen Elysana.

"Now, tell your servants to call for a carriage. We're all going on a little trip."

*

Laurent did as he was told, and as the carriage rode off through the moonlit streets, he thought to himself. It was funny -- the less he was able to do, the more violent his thoughts became. And the more expansive. Not only did he want Herwyn to die slowly, he also wanted very much to find everyone who was dear to him and kill them before his eyes.

Now what was this about Tris Gaerington? It could hardly be a coincidence that the day after he attempted a little fun with Tris, he was being set up in a way that involved him ... Tris too should die ...

It was frustrating, but when your mind is free to dream doom, the miles become shorter.

“I like what I see,” Telera said, biting her tongue, “I’m sorry, I’m just making things worse aren’t I?

"Don’t apologize for who you are, if you were someone else I wouldn’t love you.” Almost swallowing her tongue this time she tried to amend the statement, “Er, like you, like you.”

A voice piped up in the back of Telera's mind, sounding rather snippy,
‘Tongue slipping all over the place today isn’t it? By the way, about your change, we need to talk. We can work with the violent thoughts you entertain when you spend too long trying to figure out how it actually worked and trying to find a way to reverse it without getting anywhere—not that you’ve spent nearly enough time doing that—but you’re getting sentimental now, stop that.’

Trason walked up the cobblestone path through the city to this new tavern everyone was talking about to try and find himself a job. Trason is a young ambitious warrior, but his guilty pleasure is cooking... HE loves to cook, and with no previous schooling, he is quite the chef. He just returned back to the city after he escorted a party of pilgrims to a shrine just west of the city infested by daedra. He wasn't to happy about the results, the quest was indeed a failure... He was the only one that got out with his live... As he ran from his party like most cowards would, he turned around managed to get a glimpse of... Something. He had never encountered a creature of that build before... It pointed to him.

Trason shook his head to clear his mind before this job interview and made his way to the front of the tavern. He took a look at what he was wearing and saw his sword holster just below his hip.

"I do not deserve to wield any kind of weapon... I deserve to be hit by any kind of weapon." He said as he through the sword in the nearest bush.

He entered the tavern.

He took a good look around, but saw that there wasn't much business, so he walked straight up to the bar and took a seat.

"Excuse me bartender, but do you know where the owner of this fine establishment might be? I'm looking for a job"

"L- love?" Anya glanced nervously, hoping it really was just a slip of words. She responded to the compliment instead, "Um, thank you?"

Anya snatched a mug from a passing barmaid, and started to drink. She continued to drink up, gulping it in, until the glass was bottoms up and empty. Not another triangle.

Anya looked at Telera. The potion had certianly done it's job, and done it well. She certianly enjoyed the time she spent with Telera. Had things happened that she was just oblivious too?

A large tree in the vicinity of Ald Raathim: the three laziest people in town

"Goran," Tris said, pointing to the sky. "Tell that bird to fly into town and buy me a drink and bring it back here."

Soon the necessities of life would force them from their nest. In the meantime, Allerleirauh, Tris, and Goranthir were talking. Tris was doing most of the talking, which didn't surprise anyone.

Allerleirauh privately thought that if Tris could be convinced not to talk after making love, she might do this sort of thing more often.

"I knew you had a sister," Allerleirauh said to Tris, continuing the thread of a recent conversation, "But you've never mentioned her before."

"Well, we don't have much in common," Tris said. "We don't even look alike. My father wanted a pretty daughter who liked parties, clothes, and boys; and a sensible financial genius son. Unfortunately for him, he ended up with a pretty son who liked parties, clothes, and boys, and a financial genius daughter with a face like a camel."

"You're as cruel as a little boy," Allerleirauh said. Her words were mumbled; she was kissing Goranthir's chest. "I'm sure she's not that bad."

"To be fair, I've never seen her when she wasn't trying to be unattractive. I was supposed to marry a title; Iolanthe was supposed to marry a royal. Not the heir, of course, although even that's not beyond the reach of a merchant prince in Wayrest. 'If you can't bring back a Septim, bring back a Gardner,' my father used to tell her. And it just wasn't going to happen."

"Does she work for your father then?" Goranthir asked, one of his hands rubbing Allerleirauh's neck while the other was rubbing Tris's foot. These Void Rangers ... they were like cats ...

"That would seem to be the obvious solution, wouldn't it?" Tris said. "My father perversely shuns obvious solutions. He couldn't very well keep my sister completely away from our business interests because the house is on the docks next to the warehouse. But he did his best. I had the city's best tutors; she had to teach herself out of my textbooks. Another reason I wasn't her favorite little brother.

"Eventually Iolanthe got so sick of parties and nobles that she went and got pregnant by one of our dock guards, thinking that would put an end to my father's dreams for her. The irony is that my father started his career as a dock guard. Anyway, the man disappeared, my sister spent a year in a Maran convent in another province, and the baby was adopted out somewhere. After that my father allowed her to attend university, and that's where she is now. Honestly, I should visit; no doubt she's an interesting person now that I'm no longer twelve."

"The two of you do have something in common," Allerleirauh said. "You both found a way out of that house."

It was frustrating, but when your mind is free to dream doom, the miles become shorter.

The backroads through High Rock were where some of the heaviest fighting of the period after the Warp of the West took place. There were still whole forests that were blackened and dead, with no new life taking its place, even twenty years later.

One of the few pleasures the people of that region had was the annual visit of Quill's Traveling Circus. It had passed that way some months ago, and they were surprised and delighted to see a few of the wagons bounding along the desolate roads again. It wasn't the full circus, only the parts of it that stayed in High Rock while the rest went south to Hammerfell. Still it was noteworthy.

It did block the road the carriage with the arms of Lyonswurst was taking.

Quill jumped out of the wagon and approached the carriage.

"Good day to you, entertainer. Problems with your wagons?"

"What was that?" Goranthir shuddered again, turning back to Allie and Tris.  The birds had given him an instant of warning before Leseth had shown up, and were now comforting him and each other, but still, though the warmth had returned to the air, he still felt the chill of the creature's presence.

"Part Orc, obviously," Tris said. "Part I-Feel-Sorry-For-His-Mother. You've seen him, Gor, in Nalion's book. Leseth, who took my foot."

"I believe she was a dark elf, from the eyes," Allerleirauh said. "He's one of my oldest and most loyal friends."

She did not add that social graces did not come naturally to him. That was more than obvious.

Allerleirauh pulled her dress over her head. It was time to get back to business.

Goranthir nodded. He remembered that part of the book well -- he still sometimes had nightmares about it.

Slowly, he started putting his clothes on, but he had to add. "You know, this nest is great, but the next time we want four days off, we should go back to the House of Dibella. They bring you food."

Herwyn looked hard at the man, and remembered him, both from the circus performance where Herwyn's agents had made an attempt on Kethiah's life, and from only a day ago, when, from the Void, Herwyn had noticed him wandering up and down the narrow road that ran along the back of the Lyonswurst manor.

Inside the carriage, Edlyn quietly placed her hand on her knife.

"I am aware of that, Count Dygbal." Herwyn said, bluntly. "That man has tortured many people."

"Ah, to be sixteen again," Tris said, kissing Goranthir. "Four days of this would kill me stone dead."

The three of them went up to the castle to bathe properly. Allerleirauh went home to Solunastra, to do the business she had there. And Tris went into Ald Raathim to see about his sword.

"Here you go, boy," Floki Longhammer said. "Won't break again."

Tris felt much more comfortable with the familiar weight of the ebony longsword at his waist. Ald Raathim wasn't the comfortable little village it had been; and it was full of new faces right now. Rough faces.

The three men who accosted Tris on his way back to Ald Raathim proper from Longhammer's smithy weren't Nords. Imperials, he guessed. Maybe part Redguard, the one man. They were taller than Tris, and broader, legs covered with dried greenish mud that indicated they had been working with the team sinking pilings into the new harbor.

"Nice sword," one of them said.

Tris knew a setup line for a robbery when he heard one. He smiled, said, "Thank you," and walked on without pausing.

"What's a pansy do with a sword like that?"

"I beg your pardon?" Tris said.

The man who seemed to be acting as a spokesman made a comment about Tris's personal behavior, and then a suggestion about what Tris could do for the three of them in exchange for being allowed to continue on his way. It did not appear that the man intended his suggestion to be taken seriously; it was a pretext for a fight.

"You have got to be kidding," Tris said. He could feel that his face was flushed; in fact, he was so angry his ears were ringing. It had been - what, years - since anyone spoke to him that way.

"I don't believe I am," the man said.

"Then let me show you something," Tris said. "Just because a man likes other men doesn't mean he's no longer a man himself."

The three men exchanged glances that said they didn't understand what Tris was talking about. But they figured it out quickly, after the first punch.

Tris didn't report the incident to the town guard. After all, he had hit first; technically he had broken the law.

His shirt was ripped. Another damned shirt. And the encounter had definitely taken the shine off his day.

Wayrest:

The Gaerington manor was conspicuously grand, set among warehouses and financial institutions. Indeed, it could be called a financial institution itself; loans which determined the fates of armies and nations had been concluded in the downstairs parlor. Tris had been born here, had studied magic and swordsmanship and history both Imperial and Breton here, under a series of expensive tutors; had lost his virginity here, to a distant cousin, during a fancy grown-up's party; here his mother had delivered four stillborn babies and had three miscarriages; here he had waited outside her door while healers came and went; from this house he had, at last, run away, to take his chances as an athlete, competing in races for money.

He had run away. But he could never manage to stay gone long.

Tris bent over his baby brother's cradle, saying a soft stream of nonsense words. He hadn't been here since the baby was born, four months ago, on his birthday. His half-brother, born under the same stars. The kid would be fast, as Tris was.

He had checked before entering to be sure that everyone was occupied. His stepmother, Ymalna, was napping in the next room. The baby's nurse was upstairs sorting laundry. His father was downstairs in the counting house.

Which meant that Tris was startled when his father turned the doorknob and entered the room.

"You didn't wake her?" Alistaire Gaerington said, turning towards the room where Ymalna slept. "You're useless, utterly useless."

Tris was taken off guard. The last time he had been here, his father had poured him a drink and embraced him. Usually relations between them were not so cordial. He didn't know what to expect.

"She's asleep," Tris said. "I didn't want to disturb her."

"Asleep, she does nothing BUT sleep! What good are you, boy, how do you make excuse to the gods for breathing air. You can't even be trusted to betray me properly."

Tris's ears were ringing again. "Father, you're not making sense."

"Look, boy. When a woman brings a child into the world, it takes life from her. For a time after, she's weak, everything wearies her, she weeps at nothing, she misses the attention others gave her, she feels ugly. A woman doesn't need to be rejected by her lover at such a time."

Maybe he was making sense.

"You can't... what are you saying," Tris said.

"The poor creature has been making herself sick over you," Alistaire Gaerington said. "Crying so that she's not fit to be seen in public, sleeping at all hours, even pinching her own pitiful flesh black and blue in her misery. Would it harm you to spare a few moments to visit her? Is your pride so great that you would refuse her?"

Tris was too outraged to lie about it. "You perverted old swine!"

Tris's father laughed, a dark, ugly laugh, deep in his throat. "I? I'm not the one committing incest."

"I thought - I didn't - you were supposed to be ANGRY!" Tris said, exploding. "Not encourage me to greater feats of... I can't believe I'm hearing this!"

"Tristayne," his father said, the only person left alive in the world who called Tris by his full name. "I married her for her title. I don't care who she sleeps with, now that I have a son by her. But she's my wife, and I'm fond of her. I won't allow anyone to abuse her good nature."

"Shut up shut up shut UP!" Tris said. "You sick perverted old bastard!"

"I know who my parents were," Alistaire Gaerington said. "How about you? You take after your Dibellan mother, I'll give you that..."

"DO YOU WANT ME TO KILL YOU?" Tris screamed. "IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE AFTER?"

"Don't raise your voice to me, boy. What I want is for you... just once..."

Alistaire Gaerington paused, and coughed, and went on in a considerably weaker voice.

"...to do your duty to this family..."

He stopped again. Tris saw, suddenly, how old his father was. His father's heavy face was bright red with fury and exertion; the veins in his forehead stood out like cables.

"Tris," Alistaire Gaerington said, in a voice that sounded like it came from down a well, "Bring me a glass of water."

Then he fell. His forehead made a thudding sound on the rich carpet.

Anya looked at Telera. The potion had certianly done it's job, and done it well. She certianly enjoyed the time she spent with Telera. Had things happened that she was just oblivious too?

"Ciel. Ciel, help me."

Now that Tris was here, he wasn't sure what he expected Ciel to do. He had run to him the way a child runs to his mother with a banged-up knee.

“Certainly,” said Lord Laurent Lyonswurst, smiling warmly but with eyes that showed nothing but piteous regret. “What happened to your sister was regrettable without argument. I can only suggest that I was too rough too early in our arrangement. I take full responsibility for the fact that she isn’t here today, happy as usual to eat my horses’ waste in exchange for a little break in the whipping … It distresses me to no end that her nerve broke, and I never had the chance to rape her before your eyes … I think she deserved that much respect.”

Quill, face still as a statue, had his rapier out and it was pressed against Laurent’s heavy chest.

Quill just looked at Laurent, shaking his head.

Laurent Lyonswurst looked back, a quiet, friendly smile on his face.

"I am angry," Quill said, after a moment. "I am angry and afraid. I don't want you to hurt anyone else ... Do you hear me?"

"I hear you, see you, smell you," Laurent replied. "The other two senses can wait."

Quill sighed, his sword moving lightly across Laurent's body. "I want revenge on you. You did something terrible to someone I loved. I want you to suffer like she and all your other countless victims suffered ... But that's not going to happen. It is impossible for me to be in the same league as you without losing my mind, so I can't inflict pain at the same level that you did. I want to, so badly, I think you deserve it and much, much worse."

He stopped with the blade at Laurent's throat. "You must do whatever I say, is that right?"

"Seems to be that way," Laurent chuckled softly.

"Absolutely anything, no matter how vile, painful, and debasing?" Quill asked.

This attracted a little glimmer in Laurent's eye, a shadow that rose, like the flicker Tris had seen. "Oh, yes."

"Then stand still."

The blade simply slipped into Laurent's heart, killing him instantly. A humane, easy death.

Quill went over to the carriage, and knocked on it. "Thank you," he said. "It's done."

"Umm, Sure... Just show me where everything is I guess..." Trason said with a surprised tone in his voice.

He walked behind the bar and entered the kitchen.

"Hmm basic kitchen I guess, I wonder what I shall cook" He thought to himself.

He noticed the cupboard labeled "Meats" and immediately decided what he was going to make. When he used to travel the country side, he made very primitive dishes over fires from nixhound and rat meat. With a controlled flame and a calm atmosphere, he could make a KILLER dish.

He put the meat in the furnace looking machine in the corner to unthaw it. During that time he managed to make a marinade to put on the meat out of herbs and spices mixed with some scrib jelly. He tooked the meat which was now unthawed and beat it with a small hammer he found lying by the door. This was to tenderize it. He put the meat in a container with the marinade and waited.

20 minutes passed and the meat was ready to cook. They couldn't resist this, it looked simply delicious.

Another 20 minutes passed and the meal was finally done. He placed it on a plate and watched the steam rise and smelt that beautiful odor. He wanted to take a bite so badly but he resisted. A good cook can't eat his customers food, thats just down right wrong.

He walked out back to the bar and watched as the crew quickly gathered to the bar.

"I take it you guys are hungry! Well I made enough for 3 of you... Each of you take one slab and I'll fetch some drinks." Trason said triumphantly.

As he walked away he looked from the corner of his eye to see there reaction to the dish. He had hoped he had done a good enough job.

Having just recently had their hulls cleaned, and in no need to have any more barnicles removed, the Imperial ships drop some sail to slow down, turn to the north, and break off the persuit. They watch in amazement as the 'Red Falcon' heads straight into the Sheogorad Isles. Madness, Desperation, Insane Geinious... well maybe just insane.... crossed the minds of many of the sailors.

A few balls of fire were hurled by the Battlemages but fell just short of the pirate ship. The Imperial ships were not going to enter the region. After hanging around long enough to make sure the 'Red Falcon' was not going to turn around they left to return to Blacklight. Smaller ships would be dispatched to make sure the pirate ship was indeed wrecked or a least gone for good.

A Desolate Road in High Rock, A Few Hours Ago
The blade simply slipped into Laurent's heart, killing him instantly.  A humane, easy death.

Quill went over to the carriage, and knocked on it.  "Thank you," he said. "It's done."

*

Herwyn waited for the man's footsteps to recede, thinking that if it were him, he'd prefer not to have the company of strangers at such a time.

Stepping down from the carriage, he examined the small, neat hole that ended Lyonswursts miserable life, noting that it was the first time he'd seen the pudgy face without a smirk.

He didn't bother to close the blank eyes which stared up at the leaden sky.

"The Count is a good man," he said over his shoulder as Edlyn climbed out of the carriage, trying to keep her skirts out of the mud.

"Well, at least there's no more reason for a roadtrip," she replied.

The carriage driver had long since disappeared, and so Herwyn unhitched the horse and slapped it's rump, sending it on its way back to town, or greener pastures.

"Leave the body, and go back to headquarters. I go to the Queen."

"Ah, good," she said, giving the corpulent body a sharp poke with her slipper. "I was worried you were going to tell me we had to carry that thing back with us."

Herwyn forced a smile.

With two flashes of magic, the road was again as empty of secret agents as a country road rightly should be, but not of corpses.

Vaan gave up.

There was no way he was going to get these damned stones to work...

He decided to head to the Mages guild, maybe someone there could help him.

He took one last gulp of his drink, and headed out onto the street, whistling a happy tune.

Summary:

Kratos is headed to the mages guild to purchase some more spells to broaden the horizon of his magic skills.

--------------------------------------

He stepped through the door and wandered over to the nearset mage.

"Say mage, you wouldn't have any shield spells for sale by chance, would you?"

"Well actually, I might have one or two, what kind of protection do you require from the elements?"

"I'd like to purchase any kind, if you have them."

The mage demonstrated the spells to Kratos.

Vaan entered the mages guild, and, like a ghost, wandered over to a man whom he presumed to be the Enchanting expert without really attracting any attention at all. He quickly explained the Issue of the stones to him.

Handing the stones over for inspection, as requested, he stood around waiting for the Enchanter to finish.

Soon enough, he heard the sounds of spells going off. It wasn't odd considering the location, but it caught Vaan's nevertheless.

What his eye also caught therefore, was the Dunmer in Ordinator Armour

Cold Horror swpet through Vaan's body....An Ordinator? In a Mages Guild, In Ald Raathim?

It did not add up for one reason only: All the Ordinators had been Destroyed.

A sense of overwhelming curiosity was next to sweep over Vaan's body.

His heart pounding, sweat forming on his brow, Vaan made his way over to this Dunmer, and tapping him slowly on the shoulder, Vaan began:

"Please Serjo" (and pointing to the armour, continuing:) "Tell me that you were once one."

The Red Falcon was deep into the Sheogorad isles before they dropped anchor. It was too dangerous to sail these waters at night. Besides it would be a few days before any other ships more suited to this kind of place arrived. By that time they would be long gone.

Once they had become stationary the crew loafed around, as there wasn'r much to do. A few honed weapons. But most who weren't busy doing such jobs gambled in games of shells.

Falco retied early into his cabin along with his favored crew member, Heelja.

Solise: Drunken Guar, Ald Raathim

"I think so, but we should talk over the menu," she said, still chuckling a bit. There will be enough room for more than two taverns in no time at all. "It will always be Quill's Circus," he laughed. "But there were three Quills before me. Someday there will be another. But let us go now, while I still can call a carriage around here ... The circus will be in Sentinel the day after tomorrow, and I want you to have some time to practice, since we're bringing out the giant scorpions for the animal act ..."

Goranthir had just been eating at the Drunken Guar.  That was the one thing 24 hours of sex in a nest deprives one of.

"Of course," he said, looking at her.  There were people who looked more beautiful smiling and people who looked more beautiful serious.  Allerleirauh was the rare creature who looked like a goddess either way.  He picked up his sword, and then turned to her. "Anything else I need?"

*

"Compassion," Allerleirauh said. "His father has just died."

They went by means of the Mages' Guild. Tris and Ciel were in the music room, talking.

"I'll be back when I know more," Allerleirauh said, and kissed Tris on the forehead, before disappearing up the stairs.

Kethiah frowned a little.  She liked this chef/warrior, but tired and scatter-brained on the first day?

"Do you need a place to stay?" she asked. "I hadn't really thought about room and board being included with the salary, but it would be convenient to have you around in case someone needed a meal at an odd hour ... At the moment we have fifteen vacant rooms."
Kethiah laughed. "Well, that's a good sign, partner.  We think alike."

He noticed the disappointment in her eyes...

"No... Im just a little sore, these joints are aging faster than me... Im just going to go outside for a little while, clear my head so I dont get very distractions. Oh, just for your information, midnight snacks happen to be my specialty." Trason said with a smile.

He opened the door of the bar and stepped outside into the moist air.

At his funeral there will be people, people who know me. Perhaps even the Queen herself, my father was the foremost merchant in the city. Ald Raathim
Trason decided to go for a walk instead of just going outside. He doubted anyone would show up at the tavern-in-the-making at this time of night. He walked around the vacant town, staring at the beautiful architecture. He walked with the collar of his jacket rubbing against his neck and hands deep in his pockets. It was a cold night, but suddenly Trason started to feel warm, as if he was getting hit by waves of heat. He turned around and saw a shadow in the distance lurking in the darkness.

Trason picked up his speed and made a U-turn in the nearest alley.

Sweat began to run down Trason's face as he feared for his life. This... Thing... Got closer and closer by the minute. He had no Idea what it was following him.

He turned the corner of the alley to only find himself in a dead end.

He didn't turn around to see what was behind him, but felt the warm breath of what ever it was breathing down his cloak. Paralyzed by fear, Trason struggled to breath.

"G..G..Get away... Yo... You... You MONSTER" Trason yelled as he turned around to find that whatever was chasing obviously wasn't there anymore. He had never been more relieved in his life.

"Stupid n'wah! Some of us are trying to sleep! Go home you little ruffian!"

Trason turned around to see what was yelling but was pelted by a shoe right in the side of the face.

He ran back to the tavern and walked inside, only to see Isidor and Kethian about to head upstairs.

"Im going to bed, g'night" He said rather quickly

He quickly ran past them and grabbed the furthest room down the hall. He slipped into his undergarments and fell quickly to sleep. Before he dosed off he thought of what he might've encountered in that alley besides and old woman.

"Ah, so you weren't around for the more fiercer times that I lived through then?" He asked, ordering sujamma from the keep.

"I was thinking of taking it up with Loranna or Archpatriarch Allerleirauh, of the New Temple,' He sipped the sujamma the keep brought to Vaan and himself, 'but we would need very good reason to get her to reconsider the abolishment of our Order."

Kratos saw the excitement overwhelm Joshua.

"Easy now, we still have to bring it up before the New Temple and other councils before we can start anything." Kratos replied.

"If we are able to reestablish our Order, you would have to update yourself on our Ideals and method of training before you jump right in,' He continued, "but I would be glad to accept your help."

"Aye, I would certainly have to catch up on the ideals and methods of training, but I believe it would be a fun task to undertake. That would make 3 trainers; yourself, the other survivor, and me. We would need to divide that up somehow. We'll decide when the time comes."

He set his fork and knife down, and blotted the edges of his mouth with a piece of cloth before pushing a little bit away from the table, signalling he was done.

"Kratos, would you happen to have any reading material I could borrow on the Ideals and training methods, so I could go ahead and get a head start?"

"It is risky business trying to rekindle our Order, it might not go the way we would like." He said.

"I will have books delivered to you, although they are in Temple script, which I would believe to be a challenge for you to decipher." Kratos added.

"Ah, you mean Daedric? No problem at all. Learned how to read and write Daedric, and speak, read and write Tamrielic when I was a child. Anyway, you'll have to deliver them to a special place. I'll give you some directions. Fairly easy. Go to the farthest right hand corner of the dock, on land, and walk along the shore until you find a small alcove. There will be a boat there. That's where I'm living. I know this is risky business, but that makes it all the more fun." he finished with a smirk.

He got up from the table, and said..."I must leave you now. I will be sleeping on that ship which I just told you about, so, I will see you tomorrow, Kratos, friend. I hope we can rekindle the Ordinators, most were friendly people."

He left before Kratos could reply.

"Daedric?' he muttered, "He really does need to catch up on our ideals."

I never thought i'd see the day when Ordinators would be referred to as "Friendly people". He thought to himself.

Anya's mouth hovered open, but she couldn't think of anything to say, and it was apparent Telera didn't want to talk either.

Anya sighed, and rested her chin on her arms, on the table. She waved the barmaid to bring another drink.

*

After a long silence and much study of the table Telera opened her mouth to speak, “I…”

She fell silent again. She needed to say something, not leave this half-done, “It wasn’t a slip of the tongue. Well not entirely, it doesn’t matter though. It’s you and Shaka who are together. I should have just let you be, selfish of me to impose myself. I, I shouldn’t have done that.”

Anya looked up, "No... no..."

She straightened back up in her seat, "I'm not sure you need to be sorry. But... you're still Teleran?" Anya asked, placing emphasis on the n, "and what about Shai?"

“She left,” Telera murmured, avoiding Anya’s eyes, “Not coming back for a long time it sounded like. And before that, well, I love her but not like I did prior to this change. It feels different somehow. I know she didn’t love me as she had before but, when I realized that, it didn’t hurt like I expected it to, I felt …relieved.”

Telera looked at Anya now, “Teleran? Sure I am, well for the most part anyway, I think.”

"I'm sorry Tel," Anya said, "At least it didn't hurt so much."

Anya stared for a moment, unsure of what to say. Finally she spoke up, "Do you really love me? Look at yourself, how much you've changed. And from the way you sound, the change is more than skin deep. Maybe it's just you fhaving someone to talk to, I don't know."

Any paused for a moment, hoping to say this right, "Let's not worry about this right now. You're still adjusting, it hasn't even been two weeks. We'll, ummm, reevaluate after a while. Okay?"

“I think I loved you before I changed. Or at least, that’s how I remember it now, though I don’t think I thought so at the time,” Telera smiled.

A bit more seriously she continued, “I love you, I wouldn’t have said so otherwise. Of course you’re right that we should give it some time, it is a bit sudden.”

Telera took a deep breath and then asked, “Do you love Shaka?”

"No, I didn't think so, I was just hoping for a longshot." Anya murmered.

“Hopefully you’ll feel that way with me someday…” Telera mumbled; she spoke more clearly, “Make sure he knows that, too.”

Telera got up from the table and lingered a moment before leaving, “I’ll see you again very soon Anya, for now I’ve monopolized your time long enough. Take care of yourself.”

‘What the hell are you doing? Kill the lizard so he can’t take her love! Get back in there and-’ Telera shut the voice out.

Anya had mentioned something about Maranda, something about kissing and the feelings it had stirred in her. ‘Maybe Maranda will know something that can help us,’ Telera thought to herself. She made her way to the Mages Guild and purchased passage to Cyrodiil. A few moments later she was heading through the streets of Cyrodiil towards the House of Dibella.

When she reached the House of Dibella she asked the first person she saw, a beautiful woman with very little on, “I'd like to speak to Maranda, do you know where I can find her?”

Telera picked up the coins and found her way to a nearby clothier, which perhaps due to the proximity of the House of Dibella, carried a far more interesting selection than the ones Telera had been in before. Telera decided on a tight fitting dress that revealed rather more than it concealed and paid for it with the money Maranda had offered her.

Telera then made her way to the tavern Maranda had mentioned in her new clothes and found a table where she could sit facing the rest of the room. She had arrived a few minutes earlier than Maranda had mentioned, but she hadn’t had time yet to think about what Maranda had said. Her thoughts chased themselves in circles as she waited for Maranda, almost ignoring the world around her entirely.

Maranda returned, changed into her normal dress, a wolf fur coat covering her sholders, to keep the coolness of winter out. There was a cool Northerly wind from Skyrim, adding a bit of chill to the air. She found Telera rather easier, 'Now that looks nice. So you want to talk about Anya, do you. Gnisis

The Indoril Emissary had arrived the previous evening and the Redoran Emissary left with the ship for Indoril lands. This morning the Council was engaged in a formal meeting with the Emissary. Drakar mostly sat and listened, he had a number of questions but was saving them for later. Pieces of a larger puzzle were slowly falling into place. For good or ill was yet to be forseen.

Meanwhile, in a place where problems focus less on wub and more on keeping daggers from being thrust between your ribs.

Falco awoke next to Heelja. He dressed himself and left the cabin. Although the morining was still very early he went down below deck to make quite a ruckus.

"Wake up you useless lumps of flesh. We're moving out! Wake up!" Damn crew's always falling asleep. I'll have to set up a night shift.

Once he had woken all the crew that was sleeping, the Red Falcon Began heading north, weaving in and out of the islands of rocks. Falco knew that once they were free of the region it would be seift and easy sailing.
