Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: High Rock Hijinks
Posted by: Loranna Apr 16 2005, 05:23 AM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized
individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and
discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player
whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using
this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look
http://sekkairc.freewebpage.org/.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna:
Loranna is currently at the tower of the late Breton wizard with a wussy name,
helping distribute loot to former slaves and party members alike.

((OOC Summary:))
Didryn is outside, still nauseated by the reproachful scene with the Altmer
wizard.
Posted by: Allerleirauh Apr 16 2005, 05:25 AM
Tris is on top of the late Breton's tower, with Sharlian, the
lovely Redguard wizardess. Being, um, naughty... a little. Tris has recently
acquired a very spiffy set of ebony armor! Anyone here wear heavy armor?
Allerleirauh is at Solunastra in Daggerfall, making plans and tending to her
household.

Summary
Reichi helped kick the wizard type guys abominable snowmen in at the Tower
thingy. Tohe is in the abandoned mine thinggy with the others and the witches.
Wheee.

OOC: The Breton Arynel is at the void ranger guildhouse in
Daggerfall.

OOC: Frostien Marcelle is currently exploring the cave.
Posted by: Teleran Apr 16 2005, 11:17 AM
From fighting golems to being a golem, well not really but you'd
be hard pressed to tell the difference with the shiny golden crown Teleran got
recently. Now that he's finished picking through the tower he'll try out some
of the enchanted item he found, not that he knows what most of them do yet.

OOC: Summary
Nalion, the Breton mage, still sits under a tree near a witches cave, planning
and thinking about the near future.

OOC: Summary
Cyrcius is poking around the tower, while chuckling a little to himself as he
thinks about Tris's fast work. He is looking over two enchanted rings and an
amulet that he hasn't figured out how work yet.

Leaves rustled as the trees moved in a light late afternoon
breeze. A squirrel jumped nimbly from branch to branch, searching for nuts. As
it found one, it pulled fiercely at it, but the nut slipped from its tiny paws
and fell down upon a figure laying under the tree.
Nalion woke with a start as the nut struck his forehead, then looked around.
"Hmm... what?" he mumbled. "Must have fallen asleep." He
brushed through his brown hair and looked up at the sky. "It's already
late. Better I get my lazy Breton hide back to the cave."
The mage rose slowly, then stretched. Walking over to his horse which he had
left nearby, he mounted and rode back towards the cave, carefully tracing the
path the party had cleared of traps before.
As he arrived, he climbed off his mount and entered the cave.

The Witches' Cave
Nalion, upon entering, may notice that the newcomer Frostien seems to have
headed deeper into the cave. Faint chanting can be heard.
For Frostien, the chanting is more noticable, coming up ahead and somewhat to
the left of his current position. To the right, however, he can make out faint
shuffling sounds, and the suggestion of a growl.
Sharlian's Tower, Earlier
Loranna sighs, sitting in what used to be the Breton wizard's study, her boots
by the side of the chair. Distributing the loot to the former slaves had been a
bit more involved than she anticipated - not so much because it was hard to
figure out how much to give each person, no; Loranna takes a little pride in
having figured out a standard amount of gold, potions, and minor magical
knick-knack that would see everyone safely to wherever they wanted to go and
get a leg up on rebuilding their lives. No, the trouble was in explaining in a
nice but firm tone that no, the Daedric Armor and chest of soul gems were not
part of the 'severance package' as it were.
Still, minor grumbling aside, the slaves had been seen to, and Loranna sits now
with her share of the loot - a most enchantment-worthy gem-studded adamantium
mace, some books on rare alchemical ingredients that she was reading through
and taking notes on, a few extra soul gems and scrolls. Given that Tris was ...
occupied, she figures she has some time to sit and read.

The Witches' Cave
Tohe, who had been by the entrance of he cave, nodded to Nalion as he came in.
He had been wondering what the faint chanting was, but given the fact these
were witches, he had decided against investigating.
The Tower type object
Reichi stood by the lake, skipping stones across its surface to pass the time.

Cyrcius wanders through the hallways, looking into one door and
seeing Loranna reading, leaves her alone. He steps outside to test his new
items. These three things were hidden in a secret compartment in to Breton's
room so they had to do something interesting.
He activates the first ring, a smallish gold affair with an onyx stone.
Suddenly a ball of utter darkness shoots out and obliterates a large stone that
Cyrcius was standing in front of. He took out the amulet and put it on,
activating its affect. Suddenly he seemed to see everything moving a little
slower, as Reichi's rock bounced at slower speeds across the water. He was
about to test the last ring, a band that seemed made entirely of a red
substance, when he remembered the book he had found in the secret compartment.
It seemed to be a journal, but written in code. Given sufficient time he could
decipher it, but he decided to show it to the rest of the party first. He
wandered off, looking for Tris, Loranna, or Teleran.

The Witches' Cave
The Breton mage walked into the first room of the cavern which still was a
mess. he nodded back towards Tohe, then made sure no one else was watching and
walked over to the desk where he had taken out the summoning parchments
earlier. Having read them under the tree, he now put them back as to not raise
unnecessary suspicion.
As Nalion neared a tunnel leading to a deeper part of the cavern, he heard a
faint chanting. Raising an eyebrow, he listened intently.
"Hmm, Peryites summoning day has passed already." he whispered Tohe.
"It's no summoning day for any Prince today. Still, this doesn't feel
right. Let's investigate."
The Breton mage followed the sound of the chant deeper into the cavern, but
moved carefully. The witches and their help had proven themselves quite capable
in setting up traps.

The Witches' cave
Frostien halted at the sound of the growl. He peered into the dark void outside
the small sphere of light generated by the torch on the wall, but saw nothing.
For a moment he thought he could make out the shape of something, but it soon
moved out of his field of vision. He didn't know what it was, but he was
certain it wasn't a good thing. He attempted to hear the soft sound of
footsteps, but the nearby chanting drowned out most other noises.
Damn, I wish I knew light or night eye. Oh well, if I'm going ot be
attacked, I may as well go down fighting.
Frostien pulled out his ebony axe, and prepared for the worst.

Avrian follows the Breton to the cave entrance and watches as he
enters....Avrian thinks for a moment, trying to find out what he should do, he
needs to find out what Cyrcius is doing he has been sent by a group in High
Rock as... a spy for lack of a better word...
Avrian had been tracking the party for many days now, it had not been to
difficult a task until they got to the higher ground where the tracks were
harder to read on the hard rock...
OOC: Avrian is a male Bosmer, an Archer, and he carrys a quiver full of Ebony
Arrows and a bag full of assorted nic knacks...Wears nothing but a black

Witches Cave
The chanting ceases; Frostien is close enough to be able to hear voices pick up
soon after to the left, though they don't sound like they're chanting anymore.
The noises on the right, meanwhile, grow tantalizingly more distinct; a
scraping sound of something hard against stone can be heard. The lighting in
this area is really, really bad - though from the smell of things, maybe that's
a good thing.
Sharlian's Tower
Sephirus finds Loranna still in the study; she notices him this time and waves.
"Hello; what's going on?"

The Breton mage turned as he heard the sound of footsteps echoing behind him
and gazed at the Bosmer standing in front of him.
"So, what are you doing here?" the mage inquired, holding his steel
staff loosely in his right hand. A purple enchantment gleamed if the staff was
viewed from the right angle. "Do you know where you are, friend? And what
is your name and purpose?"

"I am Avrian I have been tracking you looking for a friend of your's I

Cyrcius was supposed to be there over three days ago, so the guild sent me to
find him." Avrian tells Nalion.

Summary thing:
Slyvos had been in the witches cave the whole time, silently helping out as
best he could.
He wondered what Loranna was doing at the moment, then after a few seconds of
wondering he continued going along, silently...

Cyrcius walks up to Loranna and shows her the book. "I
discovered this in the Breton mage's room. It seems to be a journal, but it is
in code. I could probably crack it given time, but I thought I should show it

Witches' Cave
The growling became louder, and a vile stench filled the cavern. Trying to
ignore the smell, Frostien took a blind swing at where he thought the foe was.

The mages voice still was serious... with traces of suspicion.
"So, following us? This is not the best place to track someone." he
replied. "Can you hear this chanting. I have doubts that this is something
good. We were about to investigate this and thus, forgive me for being blunt,
sneaking up on someone isn't the most polite approach. The one you seek is not
there."
Nalion sighed, then smiled a thin smile.
"I fear I cannot leave you here alone nor send you back, so you will have
to come with us. Would you please take point?"
The Breton pointed deeper into the caves.
"Oh, you can call me Nalion, Avrian."

Witches Cave
Frostien hits the cave wall most impressively, drawing a throaty,
reptillian-sounding chuckle from something just five feet ahead of him. He can
make out the outline of a Clanfear as it charges at him, a pice of rotting meat
falling from its maw as it swings its claws.
The talking to the left stops abruptly; Slyvos, being quietly poking around,
may hear running footsteps from the direction where the talking was.
Sharlian's Tower
"Hmm, interesting," Loranna says, glancing through the journal.
"I'll show this to Sharlian; she may know what to make of it. Thank you
dear."
Putting the journal on the desk, Loranna asks Cyrcius "So, how have you
been enjoying your time traveling with us? Exciting and exotic or just plain
crazy?" She grins.

Slyvos' ears perked up as he heard the footsteps.
'strange... better check it out..'
His natural curiosity was getting the better of him here as he walked in the
direction of the noise. As he reached the source, he found someone fighting
with a clannfear, though he couldn't make out exactly who it was from here.

Outside the Witches' Cave...
An ebony colored elf, stands outside the witches cave in a brown, Netch
leather, trench coat, his brow lowered deep in concentration. Next to him
stands a large Ogrim picking at his belly button. The late afternoon breeze
tugs on the ebony Mer’s coat, making it jerk and sway wildly, like a chained
animal.
The Mer’s brow untightens. “They’re here, I can sense ‘em.” A smile crosses the
Mer’s face. “We finally caught up with them, and it’s a good thing too.”
The Ogrim throws an uninterested glace at the Mer before it continues to hunt
in its belly button.
“We’ll be nicked fa' sure if we don’t make nice with these people, Mate. If
we’re friends with Loranna’s famous group, they'll be no way we’ll be convicted
for that little “thing” we did in Ald Raathim.” The elf motions to the Ogrim.
“Come on, It’s dark so be careful.”
The elf turns to go in the cave then suddenly stops like he remembered
something. “And don’t step on my feet like in that dark cave in Molag Amur, you
damn near broke my foot in half.”
The Ogrim lets out a tiny, shaken roar.
“No!” The elf responds with a look of utter disgust. “I will not hold your
hand.”
The two disappear into the cave.

ask Sharlian about it first."

"Foul daedroth! I'll chop you up and sell your heart!"
Frostien shouted at the clannfear.
His left hand became coated in the flames of a fire spell, and swung his axe
with his right.

Slyvos just watched the fight, knowing that Frostien could
handle himself like this.
'help given, when not needed... is really no help at all...'

Witches Cave
The party who just entered the cave finds no one present to greet them, though
the area looks like a bunch of people have been camping out in here for a few
days, and haven't really learned how to keep things neat and tidy. Sounds from
deeper within suggest a scuffle is happening.
Slyvos, Nalion, Tohe, and Avrian see a comely Breton girl who couldn't be more
than seventeen run up from the left side of the cave. The girl's brown tresses
hang just past her shoulders and her bangs fall into her eyes, and her simple
brown robe billows open as she runs - she didn't secure it all that well
evidentally, nor did she bother to put on anything else.
"What are you all doing this far into the cave?" she demands, looking
irate. "Aren't you supposed to be guarding us from those stupid vampires?
And who's the idiot fighting ..."
Frostien's flames and axe both bite deep into the Clanfear, producing a loud
death cry; the Daedra slumps, its chest scorched and its skull split.
"AHHH!!!" the Breton girl cries, rushing to Frostien. "What are
you doing! That was my first succesful long-term summoning, and now you sent
him back to Oblivion! Why are you poking around in here instead of guarding and
stuff!"
Her fists clench and her face screws up in a most distressing way, as only an
upset youth's face can.
Sharlian's Tower
"Let's let her look at it first," Loranna says. "Loose ends, you
say? What sort, may I ask?"

A loud yell comes from deep within the cave, and faster then lightening the

“Little John, let go! Let go, you twit! I can’t breath!” The elf shouts through
choked breaths.
The Ogrim reluctantly, and slowly lets go of the elf, who drops, hard on the
ground.
“For Vivec’s sake, LJ. Ya’ gotta be the worst Ogrim in history. Git a hold of
yourself.”
The Mer brushes his coat off and they both continue to venture down the cave.

Upon hearing this, Little John lets out a shrill roar and
crosses his arms.
The tree bark, colored elf begins to laugh. “He says, the same could be said
about you.”
Avrian wishes he could make a pincushion out of the Mer but decides not to
start making enemies now, and just frowns without a word...

Letting the Breton witch be a Breton witch, Nalion focused his
attention on the Mer.
"So, what are you doing here? Keep your... Ogrim in check, please. I've
seen too many Ogrims running free on the Grazelands of Vvardenfell and
attacking travellers to easily relax when seeing one." the mage replied.
"What brings you here?"
The defensive barrier around Nalion was still up, he was maintaining a
non-agressive, but clearly wary stance.
"Um..." The Mer begins to think quick. "We're just helping out
fellow adventurers. It never hurts to have extra people in your corner
traveling this unforgiving plain, aye Mate?”

Witches' Cave
The young Breton girl bite her lip, thinking to herself that the next time the
head witch tells her to "go see what all the ruckus is about" she
should feign illness, or else summon up some armor before running around the
mine. All these crazy people were making her more nervous than she intended to
admit.
" ... Look," she says, slowly unclenchng her fists, "could you
all just go back up front and continue guarding like you agreed to? There's
nothing down this part of the mine besides some forgotten twists and turns with
the occasional goblin anyway."
Stupid loud adventurers, I should curse them with bad luck for killing that
clanfear, she thinks to herself. First time they let me take part in a
long-term summon and now its dead ... well, maybe this time when we resummon it
they'll let me handle more than a quarter of the ritual myself ...
She makes shooing motions with her hands, keeping herself from staring at the
odd elf and Ogrim lest she not come across as the fearsome wise woman witch she
manifestly was.

QUOTE(Arrogant_Hero @ Apr 14 2005, 02:46 AM)
I try my hardest to conceal a smirk... I fail.
Bet he thinks I meant to hit him with that first swing, bet he thinks I didn’t
know he would move. Ha, all this I saw the moment he wouldn’t draw his sword. I
was once told to be a great warrior you must see the end of the battle before
it has even began... I have.
Luciel moves paper light in my hands, dipping downward, vertically, parrying
the Nord’s mighty blow inches away from my right calf. The coolness of the
blade, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand.
The sound, I’m guessing can be heard in High Rock.
The collision is great, greater then I expected. Luciel whines, and shakes,
begging to be let go, but my hands hold firm.
“You’re fast, kid, I’ll give you that, but you lack power. I’ve taken harder
hits from wenches.” Luciel flips in an arch, almost as if she’s moving on her
own, straight to the kneeling Nord’s head.
“LET ME SHOW YOU HOW IT’S DONE!”
This Orc wasn't as slow as he should be for his size, that was for sure. Aricyn
was surprised to feel his sword hit steel instead of bone. Even more surprised
that the steel held, instead of screaming and shattering like so many other
blades that had parried his.
The most surprising thing, however, was how, less than a heartbeat later, the
giant axe was falling down on him again. Nice move. There was no possibility of
raising the long blade to meet it. It's tip faced the ground, and still would
be by the time the Orc's heavy blow split his head open.
Luckily, it was a very long sword. Nearly as long as Aricyn was tall. He
shifted his grip and swung the hilt into the axe's path. Aricyn was confident
that the hilt would hold and not break. Quite confident, in fact, since
once-upon-a-time he had tried every way he knew to destroy the accursed thing,
the only result being that the hilt was now black and twisted, as if burned.
Aricyn dropped to one knee, sheltered by the crossguard.
"You speak well enough... for an Orc," he said, mostly to distract
his attacker. At the last moment before the bone-crushing impact, he rotated
the sword, letting it's downward-pointing tip rest gently atop the Orc's right
boot. A nail for the hammer.

Midave Astien had awoken with a clouded head, and when he came
to he realized he was without his precious ebony armor, the armor that had been
given him by his master, the armor that broke his fear of magic users like
crumbs of bread. Midave Astien had cursed the lost armor, but realized he was
too dizzy to do anything about it, and he was weak. The Breton-Dunmer half
breed had pushed himself to his feet and drug himself a short distance, to a
place not easily spotted, a secluded area he had frequented many times before,
but was mostly unnoticed by passersby…
It was here that Midave Astien had collapsed, slowly, then, he had awoken, and
now his eyes had begun to focus, and he felt his strength returning. His armor
was still gone, and his weapon, having no knowledge of magicka, he was
defenseless. He remained where he was.

Aricyn took one long stride forward and swung, at head level. It was easy to
dodge, but the momentum carried the long blade above his head in a circle, and
right into another blow, just like it. They were simply swings, practiced, but
not unusual, and they left him in an awkward position with his back nearly
facing his enemy.
That's when Aricyn poured on the speed. The speed that had killed a Daedra
Prince, the speed that had cut Allerleirauh in half in an alley one rainy
night; the speed of the Wind.
He continued the spin on his right heel, and turned the blade's point toward
his enemy, placing his off hand on the pommel, and driving the weapon forward
as hard as he could.
Long before he was sure of what the blow had hit, if anything, he instinctively
followed it up with an elbow to the Orc's face.
He instantly wished he hadn't.
He might as well have walked over and elbowed the castle gate, for all the good
it did. He felt an unbreakable tooth cut his elbow, all the way to the bone.
Orcs. Aricyn really liked them. Hopefully, he'd live to meet a couple more.
Standing, wincing, with your elbow in an Orc's face, however, wasn't the best
way of insuring survival.

"I don't think you need to worry about Louisie and whatever
that Altmer fellow was named," Tris said. "Unless you summon
them from the afterlife, they are no longer your problem. And we have plenty of
weed."
He offered her his. He had already run home to Daggerfall, to share some with
Allerleirauh; she was doing her own work, investigating the properties of
the lakeside weeds. But he had kept more than enough.
The Breton woman accepts Tris's weed, smiling. "I remember our first
encounter with those two; I would find more cause to summon scamps," she
says with a smooth laugh.
"This will take some time; sadly it is impossible to say how long,
exactly. You should expect to wait for at least until tomorrow late, from
experience. We shall get to work now."
She turns and makes her way back into the cave.

Tris lingered in his bedroom, breathing deeply. He felt more like himself just

The move was choreographed, I knew the outcome of the move before the Nord put

always crack a smile.
The fools back is to me, so I grab it in an embrace so tight it hurts my ribs.
For the first time Luceil falls from my hands, as I latch on my other arm in

death hug, because he would before I squeezed the life out of him, I know that
for a fact. This Nord is too crafty to die like that. So, I lift him up and
beat the back of this spine a few times before tossing him a few feet away from
me. Just at a far enough distance that he can’t counter without me having
enough time to react.

Things weren't quite going the way Aricyn would've expected. It'd been a long
time since he's been in a fight he couldn't win. He had been trying to impress
the Orc, but now it was down to simply staying alive.
Still, the corpse of the greatest warrior in the world stank just as bad as the
corpse of a politician. Aricyn wasn't in the mood to kill a great warrior
today.
Of course, he also wasn't in the mood to die, and his sword was about two arm's
lengths to his left, and he wasn't entirely certain that his left arm worked,
anyway.
He waited. Waited until the Orc retrieved his enormous axe. Waited as he said
something. (Aricyn's ears were ringing and he wasn't certain what was said.) He
waited until the Orc had taken two steps forward.
He opened his mouth and the world went silent.
It wasn't a shout that would topple castles, and it wasn't a shout that would
pulverize mountains. It was a little shout, almost a song. Just enough to smash
a man's joints. Just enough to make him lie like a heap of holiday jelly until
someone fed him a healing potion.
Aricyn watched as the wooden haft of the huge axe turned to splinters. The
heavy paudron that the Orc had worn on his left arm flew like a bullet, it's
straps broken, and shattered on the castle wall at the top of the hill. The Orc
himself was not far behind.
His heels left deep trenches in the ground, and with a boom like thunder, he,
too, hit the stone wall.
Aricyn smiled, and struggled to his feet. It had been a fun fight.

mockingly, throwing it around through the air and what not.
The Breton continued forward, knocking Teleran's dagger out of her path. She
leapt forward towards Loranna, her shortsword ready to impale her.
The Stahlrim dagger spun towards the ground. It never hit though, as it
reversed direction and came back at the Breton, under the impaling blade
towards the vampire.
Teleran continued towards her. His granite fist readying to swing forward as he
closed within reach.

"Fighting outside," Tris said. He already knew
the witches were no good at fighting, since the wizard and the constable had
been able to terrorize them. "Looks like some vampires. You'd better stay
inside, together, in a place with only one entrance, so you can watch it. Ready
to fight if they burst in here."
One of the women gave Tris a sharp nod. "Come on, girls!" At that,
they ran back down the corridor they appeared from, ready for a fight.

Loranna stops moving forward and shifts herself slightly to the right, twisting
her torso; the Dwemer blade which had been aimed for her heart ends up skidding
across the front of her ice armor, rending her robe but leaving her otherwise
unharmed for now.
Of course, being this close to a vampire was never a good thing, and Dante by
now had been bleeding for longer than Loranna liked; it was time to heal Dante
and stomp these vampires, which meant it was time to get some breathing room.
"BACK!" Loranna bellows, casting Turn Undead; on such strong-willed
undead the effects wouldn't be terribly impressive but it ought to buy her
enough time to get to the wounded Dunmer - and give her companions a moment to
get in a strong strike.

...Aricyn smiled, and struggled to his feet. It had been a fun
fight.
Damn it. I knew, I fah’ging knew that this Nord had that power. I had met many
tongues in my time, and I knew one when I saw one. Even though I knew what they
where capable of, it didn’t make me ready for it. The blast is tremendous. Its
funny how something so loud can cause everything to get so quiet. I only heard
it for a second, and that’s all it took. I’ve only jumped a few times in my
life, and It had been so long I had almost forgotten how it felt.
I remembered now.
It wasn’t the stone wall that hurt the most, it was the blast that got me to
the wall. The wall acted like a cushion... it caught me. The God’s only know
how far I would’ve flown if it wasn’t there.
Things were broken, I knew that for a fact by the way my insides were screaming
words made of fire and pain. I shifted out of the wall and fell to my knees,
with my arms outstretched in front of me. Ribs, almost all of them broken. My
left arm fractured. Both legs... broken. But I’ve felt this pain before and
pushed it back.
On my knees, bloody, and battered I feel that cool breeze again, and through
the pain I smile.
I’ve only had to do this a few times in my life, and it was in fun, never in
desperation. If I was to die today I might as well die this way. I look to the
sky and let out a roar so loud it echos in my head. My heart begins to beat
faster, my muscles bulge, and pulse with untold strength, and lastly my bones
don’t hurt as much. This will only last for a few minutes, but even if it is a
few minutes these will be the worst few minutes of this Nord’s life. I rise up
quickly from the ground and charge the Nord full speed.
This has definitely been a good fight.

Frostien unleashed the spell. Streams of flame came spouted from

He turned his attention to the breton, and rushed over to her, axe rasied over

Rarnir dived out of the flames path, snarling as some tickled his arm. Luckily,

Reichi had expected the parry, but not the jump. He wasn't
acustomed to opponents jumping over him like that. Usually he was the
one who did the jumping over and attacking from behind, and that was usually in
his Werewolf form.
Still, he knew how way to counter it, after one victim he had played with by
jumping over had eventually figured out a counter and stuck him in the shoulder
with a silver shortsword.
Reichi turned around, thrusting the blade of the Dagger of Senses out, being
held as it was, he didn't need to fully turn to thrust. Rarnir's toe wouldn't
connect with Reichi's neck, but rather, the point of his blade.

There was a lovely noise in Aricyn's ears. It sounded just like the wind,
whistling through a Skyrim valley. If he could have, he would've smiled, since
he knew it was only his own blood, rushing in his temples. Still, it was a
lovely sound. Very calming.
Beneath a wildly swaying tree, the old wolf sniffed. The tall grass whipped at
his paws. It was a familiar smell. He stayed where he was.
It was growing dark. Aricyn knew what that meant. He saw the Orc towering over
him, a huge, tree-like arm raised. Saw him silhouetted against the iron-grey
sky. Silhouetted by lightning.
The song in his ears was growing louder. The pain in his leg was much, much
farther off than it had been. The Orc, he though, should bring that fist down
soon, or he'd die on his own and rob him of the victory. The pain wasn't his
own anymore. Something gentle and cool took him beneath his arms, and bore him
upward.
Upward, not to the sky, but to his feet.
The cool voice sang to him. Sang a song of gratitude.
A banner, ripped from the castle battlements by merciless wind, flew past and
caught, whistling, in the dancing tree.
Aricyn knew that smell as well as his wolf. It was the smell of the breath of
Kyne. The sweet breath that breathes life into the lungs of heroes.
Aricyn wiped blood from his lips and looked at the Orc.
"Shout at you now?" he said, quietly but still heard over the roaring
wind.
"Fine."
He opened his mouth. This time, he remembered that his opponent was not a man.

"Damn, he's fast," Tris said, whipping to one
side, out of the path of the thrown knife. They were all fast. But he trusted
himself to be faster.
He reached into the Void, to fiddle with his speed. It wasn't something you did
with your conscious mind; consciousness wasn't fast enough. Before his
conscious mind had time to think of a plan he was on top of the Altmer woman,
ebony sword in hand, plunging it towards her throat. Never stand off and fight
a mage with magic. The thing to do was close and cut their heads off.
Little John lets out a high pitched roar.
"Yeah, I saw it." Wind answers back in his best unconcerned voice.
“But not as fast as me.”
“Rahh, rook.” Little John remarks.
“No, I am not jealous.”
“Rookha, raaa.”
“Just shut up, you twit.”

The Breton could not parry this time 'round, her dagger in
Frostien's chest. The dagger left a cut up her chest, and she gulped as
Frostien's next attack closed in.
The Altmer shrieked, her hands meeting Tris' wrists. She began to sit up,
casting multiple absorb spells at Tris. Teleran's flying weapons became more
noticable.
The Breton screamed, she began to run around like 'a headless chook'. It was
quite a sight really. She was like a giant candle stick.
Teleran’s blades continued towards the Altmer, adjusting for the sudden
appearance of Tris stabbing at the sorceress. He was closing now though he
slowed to give more care to his daggers’ paths. The first launched were close
enough now that they came even with Tris, coming in behind Tris’s stab.
Nehtayem stabbed into the Breton vampire, slicing into the cut it had inflicted
just before.

Reichi rolled with the hook, the blow carrying him out ofthe way
of the dagger, Reichi stumbled and dropped into a crouch, before pouncing up
with a upward slash of both his weapons.
Tohe stood around, wondering what do. He decided his time was best spent
keeping any other vampires that may be lurking around from sneaking in the
cave. Not that he knew if there were any.
Rarnir jumped back, Reichi's blades finding only air. He ran forward again,
spinning on the ball of his foot and sending a backhand towards Reichi.

As Frostien tore the dagger out from his flesh he began to heal
himself with what little healing magic he knew. The cut closed, but it would
leave a nasty scar. He put the dagger away as a souvenir, and turned to face
his next target, Rarnir.
Rarnir snarled, he turned towards Frostien and launched two throwing knives
towards him.
QUOTE(Allerleirauh @ Apr 17 2005, 05:11 PM)
Unfortunately the Altmer mage hadn't calculated on the
enchantments on Tris's clothing. Her spells were reflected. And the sheer speed
of Tris's thrust meant that her blocking him with her hands snapped both of
them through the air like a skiier getting his poles stuck in front of him. He
landed with his sword upright, thrusting it towards her throat.
The Altmer screamed as the blade pierced her throat. Once she fell silent, a
second scream was heard approaching. There was a wounded Breton vampire
charging towards Tris, on fire and with a dagger thrust into her chest.

see her enemies die as quickly and as cleanly as possible. Then, she raises her

QUOTE(Rhedd @ Apr 17 2005, 03:41 AM)
There was a lovely noise in Aricyn's ears. It sounded just like
the wind, whistling through a Skyrim valley. If he could have, he would've
smiled, since he knew it was only his own blood, rushing in his temples. Still,
it was a lovely sound.
"Shout at you now?" he said, quietly but still heard over the roaring

risen to his feet and I can’t help but smile, as that damn cool, wind blows
over me again, washing away my pain and worries.
Damn, it’s a great day.
From the Nord’s words I know what’s coming next.
I close my eyes expecting pain that never comes. Well... it does come... but
only for a second, before I slip into the nothingness of the cold hand of
death. It’s a feeling I can’t describe in words, because, that wouldn’t be
giving it justice.
How did he get up? How did he get to his feet? How...?
My thoughts are leaving me now...

Teleran’s blades turned from the deceased Altmer and embedded themselves in the
charging Breton. The spear came in level straight at her stomach, a pair of
daggers diving to take rake through her legs. Nehtayem pulled itself from her
chest and moved to eviscerate the vampire.
Glancing back at Tris, Teleran exclaimed, "Where the hell did he go? I

ensure that the Breton stopped, aiming to slice through joints at the elbows

Loranna had felt her jaw drop slightly upon seeing the Breton, aflame and with
so much of her vital energy sucked away, continue her charge, driven by ...
something.
What is pushing her on? she had wondered, feeling a mix of awe and
respect for the Breton. Why won't she ...
More convinced than ever that the Breton deserved a peaceful death; she raised
her hands, about to cast another Absorb Health. Her mind for just a second asks
Maybe ... we should spare her, give her a chance to surrender?
Then Teleran's daggers cut through her, and Loranna visibly winces; that
certainly wasn't the peaceful death she had intended to try offering ...
That just left Rarnir, who was trying to bite Reichi; Loranna changes her spell
to Fortify Strength and casts it at the Dunmer werewolf, hoping to help him end
this fight once and for all.
Whoever these vampires were, there was something extrordinary about them; it
felt like a waste somehow that they were destroying them. Though perhaps she'd
feel differently when she was busy healing her friends and reflecting on the
casual callousness that they showed in lopping off Dante's ear.

From within the Void, Tris watched the battle and tried to get
his bearings. These vampires were good, they must be very old.
He wondered why they didn't want the cure found, and who they were working for.
But it didn't look like they would get a change to ask.
He dropped out of the void behind Rarnir, ready to plunge his sword into
Rarnir's back.

Rarnir felt an ebony blade pierce his back, he let out a gargled moan before
Reichi's strike reached him. His head rolled across the flattened grass, his
hands were gripped on Reichi's collar and as his limp body fell he took Reichi
with him.
The Breton vampire had finally fallen also. Unsatisfied deaths were always the
most painful.
"Dibs on that guy's gauntlets." Dante said, approaching Rarnir's

"Of course, if you'd like the easy way out, the way where your ancestors
laugh at you for shouting into the Wind, then I still have my sword.
"But, like I said, that'd be an awful waste of healing potions."
Laying here in this Nord’s presence I can only think of one thing...
“Before I make my decision, just how did you survive that fight?”

Outside in the hall, the little maid that had been assigned to be the

"Hmm. I understand your unease." He pointed to the old wolf who sat

After leaving the tower, Didryn had been lagging behind from the
rest of the group. He, for some reason, couldn't stop thinking about his family
and friends. The more he tried to push the painful thoughts away, the harder
they pushed back. Each time, the thoughts were more painful than the last.
Painful as they were, Didryn eventually gave up trying to stop thinking about
them. It tore him apart. The thoughts became more painful every second, until
eventually he collapsed under the pain.

After the Battle ...
Loranna had offered to keep an eye out for further vampire attacks for the
remainder of the evening, and had easily convinced Slyvos to join her on watch.
Loranna schooled herself not to get too wrapped up in talking with her lover
while guarding the cave, though in truth she had offered to stand guard partly
to have a chance to talk with Slyvos without disturbing the others.
There was a lot to talk about; after hearing Slyvos's recounting of the farcas
with the Clanfear, Loranna related her party's adventures at Sharlian's Tower,
to the amazement of her Khajiit companion. Slyvos grew more animated as Loranna
talked, which made Loranna smile; seeing him smile and hearing him laugh always
made her heart pound in her chest. Then again, his company for the past few
days were either witches or else a bunch of guys he didn't really know all that
well; she could feel his relief at finally being able to speak with her again.
In retrospect, asking him to guard the witches, while perhaps logically sound,
was kind of cruel; Loranna resolved to try and make that up to Slyvos once both
got to Westcastle for a much-needed bath and an actual bed with a mattress.
Though, a pound of cure was usually less helpful than an ounce of prevention
...
Loranna had made copies of some notes from Sharlian's Tower she knew Slyvos
would find interesting, and had found a nice little ebony dagger she
whimsically named Khajiit's Fortune, after its luck-enhancing and sanctuary
enchantments. She presented these gifts to Slyvos and showed him her new shiny
adamantium mace, which he obligingly endowed with enchantments to enhance
strength and attack; she dubbed her new mace Bell-Ringer and confessed she had
even named her shortsword after Allie enchanted it, naming the blade Caress.
Her armor, though, she had not named; the only name she had come up with,
Spelldrinker, sounded vaguely silly to her ears so she had left her armor
nameless until she found a better name.
From that tangent, the conversation drifted to talk of the future, specifically
their own with one another. Loranna was secretly pleased to hear that Slyvos
and she were thinking along similar lines when it came to their future goals,
though as usual the conversation ended with her feeling both like there was so
much more to discuss, and yet nothing more to say ... or perhaps she simply
didn't want to say it all at once, prefering to save other things to discuss
later. Besides, she had the faint feeling that to say too much too quickly
might end up unsettling Slyvos, no matter how much he seemed in line with what
she thought.
Loranna reflected, once more, on how much she and Slyvos were alike; it was
firghtening and beautiful, and again she wondered how she was so blessed to
have him. Him, and Jazbet, though he was gone now ...
And then, the sun rose, and the rays of sunlight touched the corpses of the
vanquished vampires, reducing them to ash. Loranna and Slyvos both stood to
either side, solemnly watching the dissolution. Loranna spoke of how the Breton
had impressed her, made her wish they had a chance to speak before fighting;
Slyvos commented that everyone, even the seemingly hopeless, had the chance for
salvation, and Loranna concurred, watching the ash scatter in the morning
breeze.
It wasn't much, but at least the Breton and her companions did not pass away
unseen, nor wholly unmourned. Hopefully it would be enough.
Now, though, it was time to head for civilization, and a most thorough
scrubbing, and perhaps some more conversation in more pleasant, relaxing
environs.

Sharlian felt her blood start to simmer; Louisie had been callous, cruel, and almost
wholly nuts about his precious stone creations, and Landis had been slimy and
condescending in ways that she refused to think about, but both had always
managed to inspire a healthy respect in her, for their skills and willingness
to put them to ruthless use if nothing else.
Midave, however ... she knew he was a good fighter, better than she was

petulant brat who thought he was the bloody Emperor or higher. She felt an urge

Or else I may just decide to kill you myself Tris's wishes notwithstanding,

doubtless, but the moment he opened his mouth all she could see was a whiny,
petulant brat who thought he was the bloody Emperor or higher. She felt
an urge to go find Tris and ask him just what he had been thinking in letting
this fool live.
"I will stay for a time; how long is not your concern," she says,
forcing down the majority of her ire. "Your room has been left
mostly untouched; don't overstay your welcome though."
Or else I may just decide to kill you myself Tris's wishes notwithstanding,
she thinks to herself.
Midave turned and began to walk off in the direction of his chamber.
He stopped, suddenly, and turned towards Sharlian.
"There's something wrong, isn't there? What is it?"

"I think your bedframe got a little cracked," Sharlian says sweetly.
"It took me a moment to tell the others there wasn't anything of value in
your room. But I'm sure that won't be a problem now, will it?"

"No, I should think not." Midave returned to the Redguard. "But
if it is too much of a problem perhaps I will sleep in your room
tonight."
"I'm sure you can find a place for the night, after ransacking the
place."

Sharlian's lips twist into a scowl. "Maybe you should just take an
Intervention scroll and head to the city; you evidentally are still smarting
from that little bump on your head," she says, her tone icy.

way shortly." Midave Astien said to Sharlian. "Would you happen to
have an intervention scroll available?"

Sharlian rolls her eyes, pulls a scroll out of her belt, and tosses it to
Midave.
"Silly question ..." she mutters. "Did they leave you your money
pouch or did they take that with the remnants of your common sense too?"

"Inquiring of my money sack, are we?" Midave Astien said. "I
might be compelled to spare some change if you're short. Oh, but you will do
fine here by yourself, farewell."
The Breton-Dunmer half breed rose the scroll in his hand and prepared to
activate it...

"Fetcher," Sharlian says, her throat constricting, her eyes narrowing

Midave choked.
"Have you Dunmeri kin?" He asked Sharlian, quickly adopting his
normal, emotionles facade. "I am quite suprised that, despite your
apparent loathing of my presence, you have kept my room in some order and
offered me an easy method of departure. I must say, I don't understand you at
all."

"Do I look like I have Dunmeri kin?" Sharlian asks, her tone
exasperated. "No, I was just insulting you because everyone knows how you
get about your Dark Elf side. It's not like you're a hard read, you know."
"And to be honest I thought you had been killed; knowing you I'd have
thought you'd have thrown yourself on their swords rather than admit defeat.
And just what do you have that the slaves or heroes would have wanted, anyway?
They already got that off of you personally."
She waves her hand. " ... It's over Midave; whatever game you were playing
here under Louisie, it's over. What are you going to gain staying in an empty
tower with a few walking statues and the occasional Daedra summoning trap
anyway? You're damn lucky you're alive; just try to avoid getting yourself
killed too quickly and find something to keep yourself occupied."

"Am I decieved are do you care about my future prospects?" Midave
said. "I will go, then, and make well of myself. What of you, Sharlian?
What will you do? Stay here, in this tower, is that your plan?"

She had tried to make her tone sarcastic, contemptuous even, but it came out
sounding confused instead.

"Well, you seem quite content with staying here yourself, but quite urgent

this tower is really the dead-end place you claim it to be, why stay
here?"

built up in the past few years is still in these wretched walls, Midave. And to
be honest ... I don't know where yet to go next."
"As for wanting you out ..." She raises her hands in a frustrated
shrug. "Surely you can guess, right? You know none of the slaves really
liked you, that Louisie and Landil didn't like you ..."
"Well," she admits, "Louisie wasn't big on fleshy beings to
begin with and Landil was convinced anything that wasn't Altmer was just a
beast or a doll for his amusement; I guess it's not fair saying they didn't
like you because they didn't like anybody."

Didryn had no idea how long he had been out. All he knew was
that his arrows had fallen under him, and his side ached. He couldn't remember,
but he must have been dreaming about his family, because he realized he had
been sweating in his sleep. He stood up and warily made his way to the mine.
When he made it to the mine, Didryn tried his best to avoid eye contact with
anyone, but he couldn't stop the lone tear from falling to the ground before he
entered the mine.

and find out when you get there?" Midave said.
"As for the general disdain for my presence, well, I'm sure the slaves
were fond of lavishing you with praise. As for Louisie and Landil, they were
employers, not family."
