The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Blue Dawn

Posted by: Loranna Mar 22 2005, 06:26 AM

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.

Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna

Loranna, like the rest of the Eidolon party, is in the Heart Chamber, captives of Alandro Sul. She is currently looking upon the newly-born Sen-Yedda, her fear and defiance mixed with her awe of the Chamber and especially the baby before her.

OOC: The Breton Arynel is trabbed in a cage in what was once the heart chamber in Red Mountain eyeing Solin-Sul and the Pillar of Azura. He's had his tail handed to him and his worst fears have come to pass.

And it looks like it's about to get worse.

Summary

Reichi is stuck in some ghost-net..thing and in the heart chamber with everyone else. Being bored to death by Solin-Sul....

Tohe and Eya are in Foyada Mamea, having a Azurite buffet.... biggrin.gif

Afinhager, Raddin and the WHOT are also in Foyada Mamae, advancing towards Ghostgate as much as possible.

Teleran is with Arynel, not looking good.

Posted by: Tricrux Mar 22 2005, 06:31 AM

Marein, in the Ghost Shell, Heart Chamber.

Shai, approaching Ghostgate

Celeste, lying near-death at Moonmoth, no longer plotting anybody's doom but her own.

Me, not believing it's over.

-----

"Come on, Nal...you can do this!" muttered Marein. "When the time comes..."

Posted by: Nalion Mar 22 2005, 06:34 AM

Nalion, the Breton mage, is currently trapped with his companions, the Flamekiss jewel and the Eidolon in a magickal cage, at the Pillar of Azura in the former Heart Chamber. He's running through some words he read once to keep the trickle of a flame of hope alive. But even this flame seems to be flickering soon and threatens to blink out.
Still, he has a task yet at hand, the next moments will decide whether he will be able to complete it... or fail in the attempt.

Foyada:

Cyndarius was surrounded by Twilights. His horse staggered and went down. For a moment, the golden-haired head was lost beneath a
sea of Daedra. Every Imperial soldier gasped in agony as he went down.

Little Doll, soaring above the battle, screamed, and cast her most powerful destructive spell, right at the commander.

Cyndarius, like his twin Aricyn, was born under the sign of the Atronach. He stood up, dazed and bloody.

Mirea popped out of the Void.

"Commander! We've lost Moonmoth. We've lost Balmora. But Shai found something, I don't know what good it is - Master Arynel's sword! It's in pieces, but it's all I have."

Mirea's face was streaked with tears and ash. She looked like a little girl.

Yasur is curretly trying to think of more insults to throw at Solin-Sul to keep his mind of the fact that he will probably die with everyone else in the Ghost Shell, in the Heart Chamber.

Summary:

Solin is currently possesed by the spirit of Alandro Sul and awaiting the summoning of Azura.

Ciel is fighting with the army from Parrapton back. Tris is nearby.

Sul glared into the shell.  His gaze spoke volumes more than he did, then again they were not his eyes.  At this moment, silence would be the only response the prisoners recieved, they had been given more than enough words...

"Love like Starlight," Allerleirauh said, looking at the baby. She turned her eyes to look at Solin. "Sen-Yedda is born, and you showed her love like starlight, didn't you, Solin? Starlight is an amazing thing, it shines, even when you can't see it..."

(Foyada Mamaea:)

Cyndarius's teeth were black with ash and his face was caked with blood, but still his smile was comforting.

"If that's all you have, then that's all we need," he said.

He carefully took the shards, then reached under his grisley breastplate and withdrew a small, wrapped piece of honey candy.

"For your trouble, My Lady," he said with a wink.

He paused to pat his fallen mount's neck one last time. He had once traded a priceless warhorse to a farmer for this great animal. It had served him well and died honorably.

"Only a few more steps to go!" his strong voice carried to the weary army. "Only a few more steps to Ghostgate, and then we can all have a rest!"

Knowing exactly how preposterous that was, the army cheered, and their efforts doubled.

Ahead of them, Aricyn continued clearing a path.

Sul turned back to the glowing sphere. His brow was wrinked in frustration.

"What do you mean by that, witch?" he asked harshly. "I've nearly had enough of you're noise making. Silence or you will become very close in your final moments."

Nalion listened to Allerleirauhs' words. Then he looked at Solin and looked into his eyes. He didn't really know what to say, but yet he offered his own small words.

"Always present, even under the surface," Loranna adds, looking to Solin. "No matter how many times the Dawn seems to banish the starlight away, it always shines forth again once Dusk passes. Showering us with its beauty and wonder, inspiring us to reach higher and higher to reach the stars ..."

"Show Sen-Yedda that starlight now Solin; you, who built the womb to house her when I could no longer carry her, you who have been by her side all along, you who have risked madness and worse so that she may live, helping even one you had perfect cause to hate ... show her Solin; show us your starlight."

"Solin! Do this for Sen-Yedda! Show the child love!" cried Marein. "Please, Solin. Love Sen-Yedda like we have loved you always!"

Then quieter, but easily audible. "Like we still do, Solin. Like we still do."

(Foyada Mamaea:)

The Azurites, their army seemingly endless, had, unbelievably, held troops in reserve.

Before Aricyn stood ordered ranks of mer, their azure armor glinting in the rosy sunlight, tall red plumes waving from their helms. Once they had been Indoril, now they were the elite of Azura.

Aricyn's ears rang, and his every breath sprayed blood.

He did not stop.

Behind him, his brother led the last charge up the long hill to the Gate.

Before him, the gate cracked.

"How many Troops are left?" Raddin asked? His normally white hair streaked grey with ash, and his armor badly damaged, his axe wasn't exactly farring well either. "Not many, perhaps thirty Bro..." Afinhager said, rushing after him, his armor was likewise damaged, but his weapon was hardly used, Afinhager had been using spells thus far.
The remaining thirty WHOT struggled onward towards their goal.

Just ahead of them, two blood covered Werewolves assisted in clearing a path.

Reichi remained quiet. His expeirance pertained to killing things most of the time. Persuading people to not kill him wasn't somethng he was good at. He'd probablly hurt more than help.

Meph is currently helping the war effort by creating an illusion of an army to distract the azurite army.
Meph saw the army make its move towards ghostgate and a wave of relief went over him, and in this moment of distraction the illusion fell...

Standing before Meph was a red armored Daedric Lord. Any who saw this scene would think it the most hopeless situation ever. A simple looking Dog, standing up to this beast, this Demon of Oblivion.

The Dremora spoke..."This illusion ends now, I expected to have a battle with a great mage but I find a muttt..."

the Red Armored Dremora raised his sword to strike Meph down, the sword swung and Meph vanished. In the next moment Meph reappeard, a thousand times. Images of Meph surrounded the Lord, Meph felt his mind being invaded and fought it off he sent the same thought a thousand times into its mind..."kill them all". The Dremora tried to recast dispel but now Meph had his full attention on the situation. Everytime the Daedra raised his arms to give the motion for dispel something would prevent it, a fireball, a lightning bolt, a telekinetic burst of energy, or even a dog sinking magically enhanced teeth and claws into his body before he could react. This wasn't going to be as easy as he thought, and the dog was overloading his mind reading powers.

Meph was only doing this to prevent the Demon from casting dispel, his real attack was yet to come. He knew that if he destroyed this Crimson beast he would take much power away from the azurite army but he was not sure if he could do it. Finally he saw his opportunity, the thing was trying to swing his sword at a dodging illusion and the Daedras neck was exposed briefly. Meph cast Recall, and appeard on his mark, on the armour of the beast. He took the split second to gather his energy and clamped down full force on the back of the unprotected neck. Meph released every bit of energy in his being into the bite and he felt his teeth sink into the steel strong flesh, The beast felt the sting of the bite and tried to shake the canine off but Meph had dedicated himself to this and his teeth would not come unclamped. Meph dropped all other magic powers he was using and funnelled everything he had into destructive energy. The Red Lord's streangth was overwhelming and he shook the poor dog greatly, but Meph could no longer feel it, so much energy had been transfered to his jaws and skull that his eyes had been burned out and his head had become charred, but he still lived and the power flowed strongly through his fangs. Wone massive muneuver the Dremora shook Mephs body so violently that his neck broke and his body fell to the ground with a severd neck, but the power was increasing exponentially and the teeth continued to close tighter and tighter, the Daedric lord fell to his knees and with a flash of lightning Meph's jaws snapped shut.

two severd heads rolled away.

Yasur looked at Sul smugly. "Tell me Sul," he began, "When you took over Solin's body and destroyed his good looks, did you do it to all the other Azurites? If you did, I don't see much of a future for your kind, what with everyone retching whenever they see each other."

Solin-Sul for a moment appears shocked. His ashen face became a portrait of conflicting features. He shook his head as if to clear it. A cry of frustration and then a laugh burst from his lips. It was amused, as if enjoying a joke. About the chamber armed Azurites exchanged nervous glances but attention was focused on the invocation which had just begun.

Loranna feels the ice ants start to crawl under her skin.

"Solin, it's now or never dear," she says, squeezing the hand of whomever is closest to her. "Don't let the Moonshadow hide your starlight; come forth and help us put an end to this, for Sen-Yedda and for all Nirn!"

"Silence!" Allerleirauh screamed, trying now to disrupt the invocation. "Rude spirit, come not into this place! We forbid it, we repell you! In the name of the Nine, in the name of the Lord Tiber Septim, in the name of Alessia the Queen of slaves, we defy you, and if you come here you will be cast down as you were before!"

Posted by: Nalion Mar 22 2005, 07:16 AM

"Solin, not everything that is forgotten is lost. I know you are there, here, present with us. We've been fighting and bleeding together. Let us not die in vain for the principles we - you - hold dear. Think of Allerleirauh, think of Arynel. Think of Sen Yedda. And then, think of you. We believe in you."
Nalion urged, still not releasing his eyes from Solins face. The chant from Nibani Maesa sent shivers though his spine...

“Please tell me they aren’t doing what I think they’re doing. No they are,” Teleran mumbled. “Well, if we are going out, we might as well go out with a bang. Solin, want to give us a hand with this one. It’ll be much more fun out there.”

(Red Mountain:)

"SUL!"

Aricyn's voice echoed through the hollow mountain. He stood by the door, leaning on his sword, dripping blood.

The guards nearest him fell, clasping their hands to their helms.

Nibani Maesa fell to her knees, stunned by the sound.

"I have something for you."

Aricyn raised his injured left arm, shaking. The ring that Allerleirauh had given him sparkled on his blackened hand.

There was a flash, and Solin was englufed.

"Thralls of Azura, see you now TRUE greatness!" Loranna roars, emboldened by Allie's cry. "Straighten your spines and cast off the chains the Chimer shed long ago! Be men and mer, not puppets to the uncaring Prince of the Rose!"

Ghostgate:

Outside, Aricyn's voice had opened up a path.

"CIEL!" Tris shouted. "FOLLOW HIM IN! HOLD THE PATH OPEN!"

The parraptons swooped into the passage of destruction left by Aricyn, a path that was already starting to close over. Behind them, Cyndarius and his army pressed forward. Before them loomed the Ghostgate - with a gaping hole where the Towers of Dusk and Dawn had been.

It was the Azurites who had torn the Towers down, to bring stone for the
New Temple. Without its ancient fortress, the weakened gate had fallen.

Nibani Maesa rose to her feet. She moved now, not with the frail uncertainty of an elderly woman, but with a careless grace.

She snatched the infant Sen-Yedda from the young Ashlander girl who was carrying her, and raised a dagger above the baby's throat.

"
You are too late," she said, with a voice they recognized from their travels with Loranna. "I have come."

The Azurites turned, as one person, and moved to attack the party.

The knife plunged down.

And - there was a way to the Chamber. Shai ran, kicking aside anything that dared stop her. She stumbled to a halt inside.

"SEN-YEDDA!"

To act Shai would have to descend to a level of consciousness she had visited only once - beyond pain. Because challenging Azura would surely hurt...

She grabbed a nearby rock and threw it towards the knife, then ran to steal the child.

When the light subsided Solin was on his knees head bowed. The Wraithmail was ragged, gapping holes and loose strips of chain. He looked up, then around the room, and then laughed again. Shakily, he rose to his feet. With a loose tug the armor that had served to imprison his mind fell to the floor. The shirt he wore underneath was likewise tattered.

"Nord!" he shouted to Aricyn. "Stay where you are."

Seeming oblivious to the other shocked mer in the room, he crossed the room.

"My apologies," he said grasping the warrior's injured armor. "And my thanks."

He turned back to the Ghostshell. The gear mechanism floated in front of him. With a bloody hand the Dunmer pushed with all his strength. The sphere screamed as if in agony but gave way and deflected inwards, the binding chains fell to the floor leaving the mechanism in the mer's hands.

Loranna falls free, getting to her feet as quickly as she can. Her mind was whirling with impulses; Azura, Sen-Yedda, the Eidolon ...

"Nalion, do your thing!" she shouts, casting her strongest fortifying spells and protective magics to bolster her allies. She then starts absorbing the health of Azurites as quickly as she can, to help stem the tide long enough for Nalion to activate and control the Eidolon.

The image before the Breton was that of a storm, raging. He reached out and touched it, saying:

"Twirling, twirling with all energy of youthful angst, molded now into a more fittting formation."

With that, the storm became still, and it rested in his hand.

Arynel slipped through the Azurites like a gust of wind, cutting them down with the blunt side of his fatigue draining blade.

As the chains dropped to the ground, Yasur rushed out, summoning a single golden saint as he went. This was followed by half a dozen atronachs, and then he finished by casting the greatest ball of Magicka he had ever cast. It formed on his hand, glowing with every kind of destructive energy one could imagine. Yasur let out an inhuman roar and his eyes blazed with emerald fire. He flung the ball of pure destruction at a great group of Azurites. He then drew his sword and began his assault.

Red Mountain: Pillar of the Dawn

The baby let out a little wail as the two women fought over her.

The Pillar of Azura pulsed, and everyone in the room felt a strange shock, like falling asleep for a moment. Or letting go of a branch and falling.

Outside, the Azurites began to chant, simulataneously.

HAIL AZURA! HAIL AZURA! HAIL AZURA!

The louder the chanting became, the stronger was the temptation to let go and fall. If the Pillar increased in strength, they would all fall asleep forever.

The WHOT, to begin with, wasn't in the condition to make it through the Ghostgate, but several spell and potions to fortify speed and endurance got them through. Raddin grabed something from his pouch as they made it to the Chamber, preceeded by Tohe and Eya, who promptly knocked several Azurites into the lava near the Pillar.

Reichi, now freed, threw his ruined left guantlet off. Raddin threw something and Reichi caught it. Oddly enough, it was a silver looking ring, and had a small sculpted wolf's head on it. One ring to seal the beast, one to to set it free... Reichi thought, recognizing it. It was the opposite of his ring.

The Dunmer began tossing cchunk of armor at random Azurites, as he slipped the ring onto his finger, grinning madly.

Posted by: Nalion Mar 22 2005, 07:49 AM

Nalion felt strangely relieved now, not only because he was freed, but because now, standing in front of the Pillar of Azura, with the Eidolon in place and the Flamekiss standing ready, he knew what to do.
Grim determination showed on his face as he brought up every defense he had available.
He was still lacking something he needed dearly.
"Skein, I think now is the time to fulfill your words. The tools will be provided."

Celeste staggered into the Chamber, a sword still right through her. As she approached Maesa/Azura who was fighting with Shai, she pulled the sword out of her chest and swung, falling forward into the deep lava pits.

Shai ducked.

(Red Mountain:)

A group of Indoril burst through the door, backwards. Cyndarius came too, his sword flashing. Behind him surged the vanguard of the army.

Graceful for his muscular frame, Cyndarius rolled under the arm of one guard, and sprinted across the short platform.

Behind him, the guards fell, one by one.

"Sorry we're late," he said to everyone, panting. "We won't be going out that way, but I brought something for you."

He held out the bundle of shards.

Teleran rushed form the collapsing ghost shell at the Azurites, his daggers cut through the air in wide arcs and his spear taking the closest through the stomach. His gauntlet detached and flew out in front of him grabbing an arrow out of the air and snapped it before heading towards the would be archer with grim purpose.. He charged, drawing his remaining dagger as he closed the gap with them. His other dagger tightened their arcs to help against those nearest him.

Summary-

Dante, with the group, inside ghostgate, fighting Azurites.

Illidan, probably amongst smoldering vampire corpses.

Brum, Inzoliah, Merciander and friends...holy plankton! I forgot...

"Nalion," Allerleirauh said. "I hope you came through for us."

The shock from the Pillar struck her, and for a moment she forgot who she was and what she was doing. She had been in the Pillar before, recently, and her spirit's connection to her body was still weak.

"AZURA IS OUR FOE!" she cried. "RALLY TO NALION!"

QUOTE(Temple of the Dawn @ Mar 22 2005, 01:29 AM)

Red Mountain: Pillar of the Dawn

The baby let out a little wail as the two women fought over her.

The Pillar of Azura pulsed, and everyone in the room felt a strange shock, like falling asleep for a moment. Or letting go of a branch and falling.

Outside, the Azurites began to chant, simulataneously.

HAIL AZURA! HAIL AZURA! HAIL AZURA!

The louder the chanting became, the stronger was the temptation to let go and fall. If the Pillar increased in strength, they would all fall asleep forever.

*

It was, for Loranna, like feeling herself being crushed down in her dreams; she staggers, and Azurites swarm forward, grabbing her, stabbing at her, clawing at her armor and robes.

Her potions were keeping her intact for the moment, but she was in trouble; between being swarmed and fighting the effects of the Pillar she was close to losing her feet and being trampled down ...

" ... Nalion, everyone, here goes," Loranna says to herself, grabbing the nearest Azurites in her hands and drawing their power into herself. She pushes up as best she can, draining Azurites as they touch her, though there were always more and more coming ...

"My friends ... resist her ..." Loranna says, channeling the power she was absorbing into a fortify willpower spell, letting it radiate outward to touch her companions.

Then, the Azurites manage to pull her to her knees, and she reaches up to drain them again, feeling herself being weighted down ...

" ... No ...!" she seethes, somehow managing to wriggle herself mostly free of the mass of Azurites. The weight was lifted, as she fought to break off from the pile.

Yasur felt a dozen blades slash at him, but they meant nothing. He was a beast, caged for a thousand years and then unleashed upon the world. He was power itself. His blade sliced through them like a knife through scrib-jelly. He cared not for his friends, his wounds, or even himself. He cared only for the destruction of his enemies.

Posted by: Arynel Mar 22 2005, 07:56 AM

Arynel observed what was going on, took in all things, unfolding like a kaleidascope before his eyes.

The Breton rushed over to Nalion and Cyndarius and the shards.

*

The Breton mage moved over to Cyndarius and investigated the package. He carefully unfolded the cloth and stared at eight shards, the shards of Arynels sword.
He touched them in wonder, eyes wide open. He glanced towards Arynel and wanted to bow to him, but they had no time. He took the shards.
"I know what to do with them." he said with a smile despite the battle around him. He looked towards the Eidolon, then to the pillar.
"Allerleirauh, I believe we need Flamekiss very soon."

Solin held in his hands a spool of gears. It was empty, without a thread to hold. His magicks held back the oncoming foes like a wall of light. The world shook. He heard the cry and answered.

Posted by: Teleran Mar 22 2005, 08:00 AM

Teleran responded to the call to Rally to Nalion, backpedaling towards his position, but keeping a wall of blades between himself and the nearest foes as he made his way back towards Nalion. Running and slashing at them as they followed seemed to be working better than charging them had they fell with regularity, but were replaced faster than they fell; the one to his left screamed as a spear erupted from his chest and joined the daggers in their flight. He stopped and stood his ground to keep them off Nalion. The Azurites fell in droves to his silvery blades.

The pure white Werewolf, Reichi, tore threw Azurite after Azurite, quickly looking more like a red Werewolf than a white one. His ring, the one that kept him from transforming at night, was around his collar, the last remaining piece of clothing he had left, on his left hand was the Ring of Hircine that had triggered a day-light transformation.

On the ground, the Dagger of Senses and a Daedric shortsword lay on the ground.

Tohe and Eya had already made a game of seeing who could knock more Azurites into the Lava. Which the remaining WHOT engaged the enemy at their leisure.

Posted by: sjvan0 Mar 22 2005, 08:10 AM

Yasur vaguely heard the shout of Allerleirauh, but it meant nothing to him, merely another noise among the screams of those he struck down. The blades of the Azurites stabbed into him, piercing his armour, but he felt nothing. He was already dead, nothing but the pure rage inside him held his body together. His blade continued to slice into the Azurites, cutting them down. His atronachs tossed the Azurites around like rag dolls, and his golden saint cut down countless foes, but slowly they were being killed. The flame inside Yasur was waning, and finally, it was extinguished all together, the energy flying off into the sky. Yasur's lifeless body fell to the ground.

Entering Red Mountain:

As the pillar flashed, it was as if Ciel and Tris's parraptons struck a wall.

Tris's luck failed him; he felt it returning to normal. Like a blow in the face. An Azurite spear pierced his mount, which screamed and hissed and died. Beside him he saw Ciel falling, and cast a levitate spell on target on him.

The air was thick with Winged Twilights which all seemed to be attacking them, none of the other warriors.

The parrapton queen dove into the midst of the mass. She was torn to bits. But she had saved their lives.

The two men were bloody and battered by the time they entered the chamber of the Pillar.

Red Mountain - Pillar of Azura
Nalion investigated each shard closely and touched their surface. They seemed to be shards, but they were much, much more. He lifted his head towards Arynel, then gazed around an looked at his companions.
"We have been gifted with a great present in the hour of our greatest need. These shards hold one pure essence each, the pure essence of the idea of creation itself. These shards represent the eight Aedra."
Nalion looked up, eyes glowing.
"We will use them. Together. Like it has been done before." He turned his head towards Arynel.
"It is best you explain the next part, my friend. You were the one with the initial idea." He nodded, eyes showing great respect.

Yasur may have died, but his summonings lived on. With each flash of the pillar, the Golden Saint felt a resurgence in power, and she slashed at the Azurites furiously. Azurite after Azurite fell as she cut deeply into them with her glass blade, blocking their blows with her shield. The Atronachs continued to toss the azurite around, blasting them with spells as they dropped to the ground again. The blades that cut into them melted, froze and shattered, or became conductors for electricity, and the few that did make it into them only damaged the atronachs slightly. But they could take only so many fo those attacks, and eventually they fell, just like Yasur.

Nibani Maesa and Shai were still struggling over the baby princess.

There were other forces struggling, too.

The chamber was soaked to the saturation point with CHIM. So many heroes gathered in one place.

And Azura, she who had called Vehk a mocker because he dared to make himself one of the gods, filled the chamber.

Every few moments the Pillar pulsed like the Heart it had replaced, and the heroes felt a slipping sensation.

And then the pendulum would swing the other direction. They were very close to something. Something that cast a huge shadow, like a Dragon.

Arynel nodded towards Nalion, and then he turned his attention to the others. The Breton began to speak:

"The selective danced on the tower and broke the dragon. We, now, have the ability to dance on the tower ourselves, and the need, for you are all aware of what will come to pass if we do not act. We have before us eight shards, each one represents the power of one of the eight, the Aedra. The selective, in order to dance on the tower, took up the mantle of the eight, took up the names and personas of the gods, so that they could tap into the power of the wheel itself. We, now, can do the same. We have eight shards, each respresenting the power of one of the eight, and eight of us must take the persona of one of the eight with a shard, and in so doing this, we will play, albiet briefly, the role of the gods, and so we will be able to tap into the power of the wheel, of existence, itself. I cannot tell you which shard to pick, which god to take as your own, that is yours to choose, the power you will yield like a blade, the name like a cloak, and for a brief moment you will tap into the power of a god, and we, all of us together, will end this horror. I warn you, though, we must be very careful, if we fail at this, we could be destroyed, or worse. In the Provisional House:

The world became very still.

The heroes looked at each other seriously. The first name proposed was Marein Nightscar, the gambler, concerned primarily with money, for Zenithar. The second was Aricyn, blessed by Kynareth, master of the Thu'um, for Kynareth. Allerleirauh, the Welwa, a spirit of the maternal earth, aspect of Mara, and foster mother of Sen-Yedda, would be Mara. Lovely Loranna, born under the sign of the Lover, would be Dibella. Allerleirauh proposed Arynel, who had come among them as an innocent boy and gained godlike powers, for Arkay, and Nalion the wise scholar for Julianos, and the others quickly agreed. After a few moments Ciel, the Just officer of Wayrest, who had spared their lives in Skyrim, agreed to be Stendarr the Merciful.

That left Akatosh, dragon father of Time. No one was bold enough to put himself forward. Finally the others persuaded shy Dante to accept the position.

After it was decided who would accept the shards, Nalion walked up to each one of the volunteers. The Breton mage looked somber. He gazed intently into the eyes of those he gave the shards. He was not able to speak, but his eyes told everything.
Trust.
Faith.
Hope.
Determination.

The shard of Julianos he took for his own. Wisdom and Knowledge

(The Provisional House:)

Aricyn knew the voice of Kyne better than that of his own mother. This was right, and he knew it.

Stepping forward, he took the cold shard of metal that was destined for him.

"Remember," he said with no trace of a grin, "anyone screw this up and we'll be having tea with the Dwemer."

Posted by: Tricrux Mar 22 2005, 09:01 AM

Marein took his shard reverently.

How fitting, he thought, wry humor never leaving him. The gambler and the god of luck.

Time to make one last wager...

Posted by: Allerleirauh Mar 22 2005, 09:02 AM

Allerleirauh was calm.

Mara, Azura, Nirn... they were all the same beneath the skin. Mantles. She had worn hers for years. She took the shard and pushed her heavy grey hair back from her face. And gathered her thoughts.

Tris watched Ciel, trying not to be anxious. Ciel was like Stendarr, though he would never have said so himself. Ciel felt uncertain about his own goodness; he measured himself constantly against perfection. Tris had no doubt of Ciel's goodness.

Only a day ago Tris had tried to reclaim his inheritence in Wayrest and his own father had tried to have him killed. He hadn't even mentioned the news to anyone. It seemed trivial, a million years ago and a million miles away.

Outside, Dragon sank to his knees in bloody mud, leading Kynidius, who was lame, and looked up at the flash of blue light. Something had happened inside. The battle was being fought on a higher plane now.

Posted by: Arynel Mar 22 2005, 09:03 AM

Arynel reached his hand forth, towards one of the shards.

"As the path goes, winding ever on, seaward driven, running until at last unfolding in the end where all things meet and find last laments. Is it not fitting, then, that I would take charge of that which I spoke of so often?"

The Breton took the shard as his own.

Loranna's eyes widen slightly as she is proposed to embody Dibella; she thinks for a moment about how she had once before tried to take on the power of a goddess ...

" ... Of course," she says after a moment, laughing a little at herself. "That was the whole reason I took Azura into myself to begin with, wasn't it? Because I responded to the beauty of the hours of dusk and dawn, because deep down I thought the world a lovely place and wanted to help make it even more lovely, more beautiful ..."

"I was mistaken before, thinking Azura was those things. I know better now; I'll wield Dibella's power and help show the world for the beautiful place it is."

Tears following silver tracts down her cheeks to a smile that was both joyous and sad, Loranna accepts her shard and says " ... Even here, even now, there is beauty to be found; you are all lovely people and I bless the days I met you all."

Ciel, at first, did not want to receive the shard he had been nominated too. He didn't feel right for it. The others had finally persuaded him to take the piece of the shattered blade. He held it in the palm of his hand and stared.

Justice and Mercy…

The sound of the chanting outside, the pulsing Pillar, he could not help but feel once more that something had taken his life end hand and lead him as it had in the past, it seemed like an age had past. Here they stood on the cusp of Azura’s domination. What is a world without Justice and Mercy?

Dante held his shard, Akatosh...

He remained silent, a worried look on his face. To be quite honest, he didn't have a clue as to what he was supposed to do with the shard. And thoughts kept creeping into his mind, thoughts which made him cringe.

Solin looked to his companions who bathed in the light of the pillar. He wore a serious expression on his face after listening to the Breton's words and adding his own thoughts over the shard wielders. His eye held a hint of sadness.

“Friends,” he spoke quietly. “I can not be here for this, my place is elsewhere. I will take one path and destroy any foe I find as I go.”

With those few words the Dunmer turned to take the small exit of the great cavern.

Silently, at the same moment, the Eidolon turned on one small end and blossomed, like a huge metallic flower. Inside, swirling, half-real devices cast a strange purplish light. Where the light touched, the world looked a bit less real.

The Breton mage motioned his companions to form a circle around the pillar. Viewed from above, the pillar was the center of it, the eight shard-bearers surrounding it.
Nalion took the shard of Julianos in both hands and took a deep breath. Starlight like of pure Aetherius seemed to surround him, engulfed him in a mantle, consisting of aspects showing up, vanishing, being replaced, reappearing.

HISTORY.

LAW.

LITERATURE.

CONTRADICTION.

Wisdom shone in his eyes and his lips spoke knowledge.

"You all are afraid of what might happen now, but do not despair. This is how it was meant to be. This is the moment where you all will shine."
Julianos extended his arms in blessing.

"May the blessings of JHUNAL of the Eight be upon you.
Where there is doubt, let there be
WISDOM.
Where there is ignorance, let there be
KNOWLEDGE.
Know that both, wisdom and knowledge, do not reside only in your mind, but also in the heart. Where minds knowledge fails, let the heart speak up."

"I give you all this blessing, the knowledge to right what is wrong, to mend what is riven and to save who is held dear."

He struck the pillar.

Soundlessly, and with great music, Aricyn's shard struck the pillar.

Every hero of every legend of every age; Each was born with my breath in their lungs. Each was touched by my cool fingers. I am Kyne. Each who stands here, at the end of all things, shall possess the strength and heroism to accomplish what must be accomplished. They shall not fail.

Allerleirauh struck the pillar a third time.

I mark you, my daughter, I fold you to my heart. Tamne, little Tamne, wicked as all children are wicked, innocent as all children are innocent, be marked, be set apart. You are mine, my daughter, the daughter of a true mother who shall not forsake or forget her children. Let my love protect you.

Loranna strikes the pillar a fourth time.

Beautiful in your simplicity, lovely in your depth, your most cherished moments those of laughter and innocent fun that show the perfect beauty of happiness and joy. Blessings of Zenithar, Lord of Commerce, Luck, and Money, be on the thief Dar'Var for the service he has done...mark him to survive the Azurite kind. May he thieve another day.

The winding string which I wind about my hands, pierced by the road which I yield as a sword, that becomes a guilloteen. I come now as the executioner, fulfilling all the dire requirements of justice, and so justice will speak and pronounce guilt, and so the guilty I will cut short, those threads I will cut off and those paths I will wipe away, but those roads who are named innocent, and have been named innocent, those I will exempt, and those threads I leave untouched, to continue on in whichever way they will. Winding road, from first breath to final reprieve, I take as my own, and stretch forth my hand to make an end, a road no more, a yarn cut short and ripped from the spool."

Julianos, Kynareth, Mara, Dibella, Zenithar, Arkay…

Ciel stepped forward bearing his shard. Stendarr… for justice and mercy. Things were wrong and needed to be set right once more. The knight took a deep breath and then swung at the pillar.

The Prince Azura was bound to this mortal existence and tainted by that which is Mundane. Azura, who’s sphere is that of the dawn and dusk, who’s dominion is moonshadow, be cleansed. Retake your place free of this realm of dirt. Let mercy be granted to this world of mortals.

Dante stepped forward, and held the shard above his head...

I, Akatosh...dragon god of time and chief deity of the Aedra, shall lay waste to this cursed pillar!

At that, Dante brought his shard down upon the pillar. The chamber rumbled and shook, and the pillar cracked. Slowly it collapsed, falling back down into the lava below.

Red Mountain:

The sun sank below the sky in a blaze of red and gold. It was Dusk, Azura's hour. Hogithum had ended.

In Shai's arms, Sen-Yedda squirmed and opened her eyes.

They were gold, like her father's. Molten pools of liquid gold.

As the sky darkened into night, all twelve constellations shone high above. It was the Hour of the Dragon.

One by one, Azurites screamed. One after the other they lifted their dying voices to the sky until all of Tamriel screamed. Their very existence consumed by lashing purple flame, curling inward, into nothingness.

Then they were gone from the world.

The mountain was silent. No voices chanted to Azura. No steel rang against steel.

The mountain rumbled, then shook.

Below, the lava boiled and hissed, pressing it's tortured mass upward, higher and higher.

It was a single, lovely, beautiful moment, with all the constellations shining in the sky. And then it was a single, frightful moment, painful but just.

And then it was time to ...

"RUN!!!" Loranna yells.

Arynel nodded, and looked to the others.

"Well played, everyone, will done." The Breton said. "I wish you well, each of you, but I think it time I make my leave. Perhaps I will see you again, and I do believe I will."

With that, we wove his arms and disappeared in a flash of green light.

....

Arynel's form materialized in the Library at Ald Raathem, where he had left his mark.

On a far hillside Solin stood, alone, watching the heavens. In the not so great distance Red Mountain stood likewise, lit by the stars. The earth trembled, still he waited. She would come, he had waited his life. She was coming, the last bit starlight.

"Give her to me," Allerleirauh said to Shai, reaching for the baby.

One Azurite had not died. Nibani Maesa. However, the old Dunmer woman looked dazed and confused, no longer the vessel of Azura.

Tris found his weapon, halfway through the neck of an Azurite, through nothing.

Outside, Dragon turned at the sound of the mountain.

It was time for them all to run, or recall, if they could.

Shai looked fondly at the baby and stroked her hair.

"She's beautiful," she whispered as she handed her to Allerleirauh. "And more powerful than we might ever imagine."

Shai walked off to Teleran.

Alone.

"Goodbye, Little One.

"You will be missed."

Nalion stared at the firmament in wonder. This day had seen the sperent rise at dawn and the twelve signs at dusk. A marvelous sight to behold.

Then, the reality catched up to him. The wails of the Azurites and the roaring of molten rock. It was past time now. They had done what they had to do.

Nalion nodded, then fled. His figure vanished in a flash of a Divine Intervention spell, taking him to
Fort Moonmoth.

She bowed near unto the earth and looked long into her lover's face. What Solin saw, no one else saw.

Then she was off on her journey once again.

Reichi grabsed the Dagger of senses, the Daedric shortsword, and activated his own recall amulet, followed by Tohe and Eya, arriving outside the Parrapton stalls near Jazbet's estate.

Afinhager, Raddin, and the remaining memebers of the WHOT activated their marks, winding up in various places around Ald Raathim.

Moments before at the
Velothi Mountains...

Four lone figures stand atop a mountain overlooking the
Inner Sea. Vvardenfell lays on the horizon like a distant mirage, covered by dismal red, and gold clouds. The prophets of Azura watch the island like an inmate watches the axe of the executioner.

”I have seen this day, this exact time, this exact moment, many, many times in my nightmares.” The leader of the prophets, Isaiah Nabi, says to himself with a sigh. “But yet... I am still afraid.”

“It’s funny really.” Jeremiah says, sitting Indian style, behind Isaiah on the ground. “I thought we would be more scared then this. You know the lot, running around screaming our heads off, that whole bit.”

Isaiah’s withered, Dunmer lips crack into a smile. Even in this dire situation Jeremiah still made him laugh. He would miss that. “When you know the end is coming you just sort of... accept and embrace it.” Isaiah says shrugging his shoulders a bit. “It’s the way of life.”

Isaiah tosses a glance over his shoulder and sees Ezeka staring at him. He gives her a small smile, which she returns. She then looks down at the figure standing beside her, holding her hand.

The little girl looks up at Ezeka with big, cherry colored eyes. “Will it hurt, mommy?” The little girl asks, in a voice so small its barely heard.

“Only for a little while, baby.” Ezeka chokes back tears. “Remember to do what I told you.”

The little girls embrace tightens. “I don’t want you to go, mommy.” The defiant child blurts out.

Ezeka leans down to give her child one last kiss, as a brilliant light covers Tamriel.

Teleran ran to Shai and gave her a quick embrace, “We have to hurry, you have your Mark set right? Okay, good. I’ll see you in Ald Raathim then.” Teleran cast recall, in a flash he was transported from
Red Mountain to Ald Raathim, in his quarters. He sprinted from his room to Shai’s room and burst into the room yelling as he entered, “Shai!”

Loranna raises her hands, and casts Recall; soon, she is standing in her room back in Jazbet's Castle.

Upon seeing the friendly, familiar sight of her room, she lets out a breath she didn't remember holding, and laughs. Then, she opens the door, not even pausing to take off her armor or ash-stained robe, and starts calling out the names of her companions, to ensure everyone made it home.

And along the way, she heads for a certain room.

Aricyn stood looking into his brother's blue eyes as the lava rose higher and higher.

Both brothers smiled, then hugged each other solidly.

Behind them, the lava hissed and screamed.

Aricyn motioned the young Helgi to him, and, reaching up, took the shining helm from the top of the standard.

He handed it to Cyndarius.

"Tired of looking at my face?" Cyndarius said with a smile.

"Your haircut makes you look like an Imperial," Aricyn replied.

The two clasped arms one last time, Aricyn shouted, one last time, and was gone.

"Alright, boys!" Cyndarius called to his men, "Let's go home!"

None of them recalled until they saw their captain safely gone.

Helseth stood on the battlements of Castle Ebonheart watching as a flash of light passed over him. Once it had passed, the Azurites were no more.

"They were true to their word Karrod. And have saved all of Tamriel from the Azurite plague. For that, they receive my gratitude. So much devistation. It will be long before we have rebuilt fully."

"Atleast we are around to rebuild." Noted the usually quiet Karrod.

Marein Nightscar remained inside Red Mountain longer than anyone else, watching silently, tearfully, into the lava below. His only love lay down their dead, and for a moment he was near joining her.

Then he looked around and realized that he was free of his past.

He was a new man. After checking in briefly at Ald Raathim, Marein Nightscar went far away. Very far away. He would tuck away for long periods of time in a cave in High Rock, studying magick and its more creative uses.

He would surface again when the time was right.

The Gambler would play again.

He fell forward now, his face among the ash, much of it tear stained. Suddenly he felt a cold hand on his shoulder, and he was wisped away. Back to the

Tamne stood very still, looking out at the garden where Skein knelt.

She had understood only a tiny bit of what had happened to her.

She didn't like the feeling of not being a person though. She didn't like Azura.

Her eyes were still blue when she looked in the mirror.

She wasn't sure why that woman would have saved her. Why anyone would save her. She wasn't a very nice little girl.

She hoped that woman didn't expect to be called Mommy.

The first wave of fire and ash past and Solin was gone.

For a brief moment anyone traversing the darkness that was not would feel the dim light of moonlit evening embrace them. Red like the fiery eyes of a Dunmer and muted white like ashen skin. Uneven, it rippled not unlike the shine of water. Dark and Light danced together forming an intricate interplay. Then, with the swirling of a cloak, darkness once again overtook the Void and it was gone.

In Ald Raathim, Solin retrieved his pack from where Alandro Sul had left it on the writing desk.

"I could fit half of Skyrim in that mouth, lad," Dragon said, smiling. "I think we'd all notice if anything happened to it. Let's find that river and wash off. I want to be clean again."

QUOTE(Loranna @ Mar 22 2005, 04:55 AM)

Loranna looks down at the sleeping Sen-Yedda, her smile radiant; her smile turns to a silent chuckle as she looks fondly upon the little girl's ears.

"They are funny, but adorablely lovely," she says quietly, taking a deep breath and looking back up to Allie.

" ... I feel so silly for ever having doubted you and the others when you said we would somehow pull through," she tells Allie.  " ... And yet, I'm sort of happy I doubted at first; somehow it seems to make the knowing all the sweeter, now that I've seen the truth of it."

She looks back down ar Sen-Yedda.  "That's two girls now in as many months, no?" she asks.  "How fares the girl you saved; she's been on the back of my mind ever since you took her to Daggerfall."

*

"Sen-Yedda's foster sister," Allerleirauh said. "Tamne is fierce as anything, loyal, brave. She runs through the Void now whenever she's in trouble to get away from us. She'll be something amazing some day, as Jazbet predicted."

She was afraid, for a moment, looking at Loranna's radiant face. Afraid that if she ever let go of Sen-Yedda, Loranna would never give her back.

But it was time to trust her friend. She had come so far, from madness and slavery to a Daedra to walking humbly in the steps of a goddess.

"Here, you hold her," Allerleirauh said, shifting the baby and holding her out.

Aricyn hugged the Breton like he had before they had parted, then ruffled his already messy hair.

"You did good, wizard. Very, very good.

"I can say that... because I still have a mouth to say it with!"

*

With visible effort, Nalion tried to free himself from Aricyns grasp, to no avail. Then, he returned the embrace. As they let go, the mages' expression turned serious for a brief moment.
"I had help. Great help. Arynel. Allerleirauh. You all here. The soldiers out on the slopes. We did it. Together."
The smile returned to Nalions face and he tilted his head slightly.
"You weren't bad either... for a Nord." The Breton chuckled.

QUOTE(Allerleirauh @ Mar 22 2005, 03:57 AM)

"I really can't stand Colovia,"  Tris said, laughing. "I've been afraid to tell you. Being a hired soldier for a lord... do you think you could stand that, now?  The taste of freedom is addictive. I like Solunastra. We're not formal there. And they celebrate New Life on the Wayrest day, just to keep me happy."

*

"No, I don't think I could anymore," Ciel smiled. "It sounds quite nice actually. There is something I must ask you, though. Daggerfall? How?"

The knight's grin broadened as he asked.

Tris laughed. "Daggerfall wine's not bad, if you like the taste of horse urine. Truth be told, I run across the border whenever our cellars get low. And the apples. I have to have Wayrest apples. You know those ones from Penvale. And I guess I avoid thinking about politics! And I confess, I still spit whenever I walk by that statue of Kynareth. We have one just almost in our backyard, at the guildhouse. Damn things everywhere."

Loranna gently takes Sen-Yedda from Allie's hands and cradles her as close to her chest; her expression is filled with wonder and joy.

" ... Thank you," she says quietly to Allie. "Someday, I still hope to be cradling healthy little Nord babies with cute little patches of fur ... someday."

She holds Sen-Yedda for several moments, saying to Allie "Princess Starlight though should really have a mother who knows what it means to be a princess, yes? Even if she will have aunts and uncles who hail from every walk in life; from universities to taverns to castles to the open woods and beyond, every place we've all called home at some point."

"She's one of the luckiest little girls in the world; she has one of the best families a baby could hope to have."

Ald Raathim, Jazbet's estate-

Dante looked up at Illidan, his eye was sore from tears, they had cleansed one of his ash covered cheeks. Illidan looked down in kind, and gave a nervous smile, he stepped back as Dante rose to his feet.

The two locked eyes for a long moment, before Dante spoke, "You bastard..." He muttered, resting his face in Illidan's shoulder.

The knight laughed with Tris.

"How wonderful," he said shaking his head. "I suppose it still is better than Colovia though? Ahh, look at us, we are a right mess."

"I bet every washtub in this house is in use right now," Tris said, grinning. "One moment, sir."

He returned from the guildhouse in Daggerfall moments later, bearing a washtub on his head.

"They did," Loranna says. "It was incredible to look upon that - though having to dash off from encroaching lava made it a most fleeting moment."

Loranna chuckles. "Meh, we made it home alive, we won, we were part of something incredible. And there is still a world for us all to live in."

She gently hands Sen-Yedda back to Allie. "Thank the Nine for today," she says, grinning. "And, once more - thank you, for everything. If you ever need a hand with her, give us a hollar; even with the work ahead I think we can find the time to help Tamriel's Number One Mom."

She winks at Allie. " ... And there are probably a bunch of people who could use a healer right now," she says. "I should let the two of you rest; talk more come the morning?"

"Well, we Nords are good at some things," Aricyn said, easily picking Nalion up with one hand and chucking him in the ice-cold river, before diving in himself.

Allerleirauh kissed Loranna's cheek. In the morning she would think about how to take Sen-Yedda back to the safety of Solunastra. But there would always be time to spend with her friends.

"Of course," she said.

Loranna kisses Allie back on her cheek, and turns and heads outside, to Ald Raathim. Those who were in need of her healing noted that her smile alone was almost enough to make the pain and sorrow of the day's losses bearable, reminding them of the fact that they had, indeed, won against impossible odds.

There would be mourning for the fallen soon, and somber moments, and a lot of hard work ahead; however, it would all be worth it.

The icey water felt as if it would sear through his flesh, but it was invigorating at the same time. After he overcame the first shock, Nalion found the river refreshening. He shook his head and drops of oily, ash-mingled water spilled from the tips of his hair. Its brown colour began to shine though. He began wiping the smears from his face. He felt newborn in this instant, a fitting feeling after what had happened.

(Freetown:)

Cyndarius stood, freshly bathed, staring out at the town as the new sun rose on another day. The day after Hogithum.

The streets seemed empty this morning. They were. Many who had walked there the day before walked no more.

"Here's the bleedin' paperwork," Merey said, entering Cyndarius's room. "No matter what happens, there's always plenty of friggin' paperwork."

Cyndarius wiped the tear from his eye and then turned to Merey. Reaching for his quill, he signed the orders for the funeral arrangements. The lost Azurites of Freetown would be honored along with the fallen legionnaires. They would all receive a hero's burial.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Role Playing Epic, Blue Dawn, has come to an end. The world of Nirn has survived to see another day, another crisis, another mystery.

For now though, it is time for our heros and heroines, and for our villians and villianesses, and for our dearly-beloved supporting players, to take a much-deserved break.

All hail the passing of the Blue Dawn; thank you for playing and watching, and hope to see you all again next time! happy.gif
