The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Blue Dawn

Posted by: Loranna Jan 24 2005, 12:37 PM

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look http://sekkairc.freewebpage.org/.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.

Thank you, and have fun!

This RP is a direct continuation from the Evening/Morning Star Parade RP; if you were in that RP, then you are wherever you left off there.

New players are still welcome, of course.

We enter a new RP thread, with new challenges and new wonders; enjoy smile.gif

Summary for Loranna:

Loranna is currently resting at Jazbet's estate, recovering from her abortion and planning what to do with her life now that she is free of Azura.

Posted by: Allerleirauh Jan 24 2005, 12:46 PM

ooc summary:

Allerleirauh dallied with Jazbet and Loranna after her walk through Jazbet's estate; she's making plans to visit the families of Dres Gaor and Dres Wyrloc. She also wants to see to it that his estate is made more secure, and that the people there are turned into something resembling a disciplined fighting force with similar goals.

Doll is in the library of Jazbet's estate, looking for magic books and planning to disturb Solin for magic lessons. She also read an intesting scroll about the travails of someone named Setzer.

Tris hasn't been seen since his arrival at the estate. He and Ciel seem to be keeping a low profile. After he asked Arynel for help in recovering his abilities as a Void Ranger, Arynel took him through the Void to Solunastra. He was unable to return on his own; however, Leseth, the monstrous black Orc who severed his foot, brought him back in time to make the boat trip. It remains to be seen what his relations with Leseth will be like now.

Mirea is spying.

Dragon and Skein remain at Solunastra.

Summary:

Dagoth is... doing things after spending some time with Loranna. He is also a tad bit worried about the Azurites finding them, but otherwise nothing much.

Summary
I shall start with a bio of my character... since it has been a while since I have played...

Name: Maranda
Age 26
Race Breton
Class Conjuror
Items of significance
Daedric Robe of Cleanliness - A powerful robe that is brilliant against Magic attacks, it has the strange ability to suck up dirt
The Ring of the Shadow Mind - This mythical ring can block ones mind from telapathy. It can also be used to summon a Flame Monarch once per day
White-Gold Sword - This sword is a mystery, who created it was a mystrery, what it is made of is a mystery, it gains its name from the strange white-gold colour of the blade... If it was to be classed, it would be a Katana... there is no enchantment on this blade

Story so far...
Maranda at a young age could be considered a child prodegy in her native home in the
Kingdom of Daggarfall, gifted with the art of Magic, she threw herself into study. However, she became interested in the darker side of Magic, and begain to serve the Daedra... how she came to worship Meridia is a complete mystery. She was punished, however, for failing an important mission from her mistress, and went into a deep depression, wandering all over Bretony for three years... this is where, by chance, she came across Loranna, the incarnate of Azura.

Once more, Meridia saw a use in her, and ordered Maranda to place a signet ring apon one of the taverns patrons, who promptly attacked Loranna with the Daedric Scorage. However, this plan failed, and Meridia took up host in Maranda's body for the time being...

She once more ran into Loranna on her way to Morrowind, but under the direct control of Meridia, she had no control over herself. Traveling on the so-called Trail of Frozen Tears, Maranda managed to pick up the Moon Riever Sword, and the Ring of the Shadow Mind from Meridia in the city of Solitude, before urgently being forced to head for Blacklight, where she obtained the Curiass of the Saviours hide... and employed the services of three inderviduals, Daidez, the Dunmer Assassin, "He-who-hunts-elves" the Argonian Thief, and Shardie, the Redguard Crusader.

They made thier way to Gniss, where they made a deal with a certian individual to get a name... however, they were betrayed by that indervidual, and had to flee to Vivec, where, once more, the temple threw thier weight behind Azura's incarnate, and blacklisted them... Daidez went off to Assassinate this indervidual that betrayed them, while the others retreated to Ebonheart, where Maranda decided to talk to Loranna in Suran.

However, in Suran, she was betrayed by Shardie once more, who handed the Moon Riever Sword to Loranna's party, whilst Loranna's guards attacked her. Fleeing once more to Ebonheart, she was charged by Meridia to hunt down, and kill Shardie. Maranda left her Argonian Servent with the Curiass, while she made her way to Narsis, where Shardie was heading.
However, "he-who-hunts-elves" was slain, and the curiass taken. Maranda met Shardie in Narsis, and killed her, whilst renouncing her faith in Meridia. It was true, the only person she ever killed was her best friend... She left for Cydoriil to make a new start, when she encountered, in the
Imperial City, a Red Robed indervidual... 'All Events are preceded by Prophecy, but without a hero, there is no event" Maranda is currently searching for the identity of this strange red robed man, he seems to have somthing to do with Shardie, and why she betrayed her...

Summary

Setzer is a rogue gambler playboy type who showed up after the adventures had slowed down, very recently. His past is dark, and is still a mystery. He seems to have a lot of money and is not afraid to spend it. Having come in boredom, he now feels invested in the cause. He is leaving the library at Jazbet's having read some heart-wrenching history.

Proweler the scamp.
After making a bargain whit a librarian. Proweler has spend years in the imperial library doing the mans ultimate research on the N'roc Diputus, a corn eating beetle. The conclusion was that they are tasty and best eaten when squeezed first. That for filled the bargain and ruined the librarian's future career. Proweler was free to roam the world.

Spending years near the vicinity of books, his intelligence got limping above the scamps's average. Being intelligent for scamp, people assumed Proweler was rich. Supposed rich people never have much trouble getting around.

-------

Prowler was sitting in a village inn, unaware of his location. Drinking beer whit the idea that when he kept asking for more they wouldn't ask him to pay. The lady's looked rather handsome, he'd hope they heard the legend that speaking scamps are rich.

The inn was a rather shoddy building, the kind that comes whit the farmer villages. Maybe some adventurer would come by for a drink and company, maybe he could convince them that one of their rings summoned them and hang on for a while. Assist in quest and get a fair share of the bounty, that sort of thing he'd read about. All you had to do was make a stupid mistake and let yourselves be saved by the character that was obviously a lot more intelligent.

Posted by: SEKKA Jan 24 2005, 06:18 PM

"Mead! where is the Mead!" Yelled the Sekka at the bar. The innkeeper yelled back "I told you we dont serve that nordic mudwater here!, when are you going to pay me for all those drinks you have bought!" Sekka grabbed the girl cleaning the tables and kissed her, then said "nope shees still ugly...give us some more mead!" The girl sceamed "DADDY!" and the innkeeper pulled a rather large club out from under the bar, Sekka rubbed a ring on his finger, hoping it was the right one, the ring turned him slightly invisible and a scamp jumped out from behind a table..."never seen it happen that way before...o well..." a few minutes later Sekka and the scamp were running away, being followed by the barmids father....and nine brothers...and a rather large boyfriend...

Posted by: proweler Jan 24 2005, 06:53 PM

"So, now we are running together what is your name?"
"Arn't you supposed to stay behind and fight for your life"
"Me? Are you mad! look at those man, average farmers redneck, that sort of thing"
"yes...we understand...but we summoned you...HOLD THEM OFF!"
"So?"
"So you are supposed to protect us?"
"Well, you got to run faster then, I could bite your ankle if that would help. taking of those boots would help too"
"no these...these boots are very important to us...cant leave them behind....we just summoned you..why don't you go away??"
"So, now we are running together what is your name?"
"Why don't you go away"
"That's what I'm wondering about, guess this is your lucky day. You have a permanently bound scamp. Mind you not an ordinary scamp, an intelligent one"
"We get called Sekka...Sequa...Sekka...Sequa....Shut up both of you...what do they call you?"
"Nice to meet you Sekka, Proweler is the name. Call me Scamp if you like, no other scamps around"

Posted by: SEKKA Jan 24 2005, 07:00 PM

Sekka and the Scamp dove behind a rock and watched the large group of farmers run past...."whew that was waaaaaay to close...yyour such and idiot....your the dumb one....why did we run we should have fought....11 men??...shut up...this scamp seems rather nice...its a SCAMP KILL IT...no we summond it...shut up!"

"ummm sir, what exactly are we doing now?"

"well....uhhhh....we are gonna go find something to eat, that sounds good..."

Posted by: proweler Jan 24 2005, 07:20 PM

While hiding the thought dawned on Proweler that this might not be the hero from the books he was looking for. This one seemed to lack... Well lack a lot of things. "Maybe this is one of those anti-hero's, I've read a book about that sort of thing" Proweler mused. "Got to work whit the tools you got"

Update:

Jazbet, Khajiit knight of House Dres, is the hosting the remnants of the cult of Loranna/Azura at his estate on the coast of mainland Morrowind. He lost his eyes at the coming of Azura in Vivec, but is gradually learning to get along without them, with the help of his precongitive visions. He is also trying to catch up with his estates finances, a slow process since his seneschal Kallen must read the copious accounting books to him aloud. (Don't worry I'm not RPing this tedious process)

Kallen is a 17-year-old Dunmer, peasant-born but a prodigy with numbers and organization. Despite his youth, he is Jazbet's right hand man at the running of the estate.

Razbiah is a stout, middle-aged Dunmer woman, in charge of the house itself, organizing the servants and (unfortunately) supervising the meals, which she thinks are most healthful when they're as bland as possible. Think of her as your favorite aunt: friendly and easy-going, but there are rules ...

The centerpiece of the estate is a thirty-six room castle, filled with many parlors and libraries, a central tower which is Jazbet's living quarters, and -- though no one has discovered it yet -- a dungeon beneath (which is currently used for storage, though the keep itself is ancient and may contain many secrets). It is perched atop a beautiful bay which is safe for swimming and fishing, shielded from the sea by a chain of mangrove trees.

Beyond the castle are fields of saltrice and wilderness. The people who work the fields are peasants, not slaves, as Jazbet was a former slave himself.

Several small villages are in the fifty mile zone of Jazbet's domain. The largest of which is Ald Raathim, only a few miles down the road, which has several shops, an excellent tavern (for those of who who grow tired of Razbiah's cuisine), and port with regular boat services to Vvardenfell and Mournhold.

Whew. Enough of Fodor's guide ...

Out of the area, Elysana, the Queen of Wayrest, is on her boat, heading for Wayrest. She has twenty of her best soldiers with her, and a playwright named Baloth-Kul who she is considering sponsoring. The rest of her army, hundreds of men, are waiting in Sheogorad for more ships to come.

Bosriel, the little dark-haired girl with hungry red eyes, the Void Vampire, is in Ebonheart, watching Lliryth, Helseth's mystic, examine a mysterious Dwemeri/Altmeri artifact.

Summary like object...

http://www.imagehosting.us/imagehosting/showimg.jpg/?id=171246, meanwhile, is still on the beach. Having fallen asleep. He found the sand, sun, and surf comfy. He however, no longer has his netch armor. That having been messed up at the Coming of Azura in vivec, then finished off in his battle with Tarenen.
-------------------------------------

Reichi awoke, mumbled in coherantly, and sat up. He checked himself for all his things, someone could have took his stuff while he was sleeping. His hand went first to his throat, the collar was still there, he was still wearing his robe, he could still feel his Daedric Shortsword and the Dagger of Senses in his robe.

Then he remebered one thing he had almost forgotten. He took out the grand soul gem. In it contained the soul of some fiend that had assualted the group in Suran. The essence swirled through the magnificently carved gem.

"Heh, i really gotta find a use for this thing," he mumbled before pocketing it. He stood and reached in the robe, Grasping the Dagger of Senses.

The moment he did, his senses expanded rapidly, the feeling was exhilirating. He removed his hand once he had ascertained that there was nothing around that posed a threat.

Reichi headed off towards the estate.

Synopsis for Latius Maltne:

An Imperial born man, Maltne earned the respect of the Dunmer through mercenary service. He joined the ranks of Buoyant Armigers, and advanced to become a leader of the order. In response to recent events in Morrowind, the antiquated archcanon ordered him to protect Loranna at Ghostgate. He helped to keep her alive until Azura called forth her uprising. Mostly, the Armigers remained loyal to Vivec and not Azura, so they will continue to combat the Azurites. Captain Maltne chose to remain with Loranna's party, because it's in his interest that Sen-Yedda be born a healthy baby. He represents an almost extinct religion and a defunct ideal, but he has the right to shrug the weight. It's not his fault.

(OOC:) Latius has become a really secondary, unimportant character. I will keep roleplaying him, but I might discontinue it all later.

Ebonheart, Morrowind

Lliryth put down the ancient manuscript. It did not seem possible. As he passed his subordinates in the halls, they saw on his face something the icy professional mystic never showed: amazement. The Altmer even seemed to grin -- a peculiar working of unused facial muscles -- a little at his discovery.

'Where is the King?' Lliryth asked one of the royal guard, once again the consummate professional. 'I need to speak to him immediately.'

Zaldaar smiled, "If I could rest, I would. But this is too important."

"Well I'm hanging around. I can tell I'm going to need to pull you out of the fire a few more times."

"You wish." Zaldaar laughed.

"Impressive indeed. Now the question becomes, could it and should it be used to stop this new cult? You say that it will safely syphon energy, however, in my experience, there are always risks.

"Excellent job Lliryth. Keep finding out as much as you can about this Eidolon, including how to activate it as well as any possible risks." Helseth thought for a few moments before returning to his chambers, leaving Lliryth to his work.

Well since this will be the first TES RP thread i join i guess i should make a bio for my character.

Name: Jean
Age: 17
Race: Nord
Class: Barbarian
From: Skall Village.

Items of interest: His leather chain mail: Jean's armor is custom fitted leather armor with chain links sewn into it, to provide much of the armor rating of chain mail, but providing a medium weight armor piece that allows almost a complete range of movement. He owns a silver sword with the visage of a wolf carved into the pommel stone.

Bio: Jean was on the path to becoming one of the great skall warriors when he went out on a hunt. A few days out he got lost in the mortag glacier region, the former home of Hircine, the daedric prince of the hunt. One night, during a terrible blizard, he stumbled upon a cave. He stayed there for the night, and the next morning found that he was snowed in, and couldn’t leave through the way he came. As he went deeper into the cave, he found that the entire area was honeycombed with ice caves. He fought and killed the few Grahl that were in the cave, and he lived off their meat.
One night, at least he thought it was night he couldn’t really tell, he chanced upon some sort of wolf creature, that immediately attacked him. The fight lasted only briefly, he did not know it at the time but the creature he killed was a werewolf and the silver sword had weakened it severely. he also didn’t relise that the bites he had received transmitted Sanis Lupis ((ooc: I’m pretty sure that is the diseases name)) later that night he found another cave entrance that had been sheltered by a group of tall trees. When he left it, he found himself near the imperial colony of raven rock. He stayed there while he suffered a fever, but on the third day when he woke up, the village was in ruins and many lay dead. He was hauled away for no explanation to Fort frostmoth and thrown in jail. Later they transported him on a ship to Khull, and later to ebonheart to be executed. But while on the ship, he transformed again, but this time remained in control of his mind. He hid, afraid of what he had become, and suffered through the night. When the dawn came he was exhausted and starving. That afternoon they reached Khull and he was taken off the ship. But he managed to escape when the moon arose again, and he hid in the nearby wilderness.

Sitting on the beach, Arynel wove his arms and summoned up a lute. The Breton smiled, and began to play a bouncy tune:

Way down on mainland Morrowind
Lives a cat who calls Dres his kin
Out past the cove where the magroves are
You'll find an estate out by the shore
But if you want a time for revelry
Head up north to the isle of devilry
Up there where the Mountain looms
And ashen faces preach of doom
Turn your back for but a moment
And you'll find they're not but hornets

Somewhere in the Wilderness of Vvardenfell

Three robed Figures approach Jean, one of them lowers their hood, Revealing a Redgaurd male, his long hair worn in a dreadlock style.

"Ey..monz, whatchu be doing in da woodz ey, don't ya dats the worse thang ya can do? People who hide in da wildz often git keeled," he said. One of the others snicked, the shortest one. The other hooded and robed figure didn't move.

Posted by: Master of Nas Jan 25 2005, 03:27 AM

The shadows prevented them from seeing Jean's form. The moon was just over head, and Jean wasn't in the shape to answer, at least not coherently. Their snickers were met with a howl, and then a growl of feral rage. As Jean turned and his robe ripped off, they saw a red glint in the were wolf's eyes. Either from madness or the moon, they couldn't tell.

Posted by: Aki Jan 25 2005, 03:42 AM

"Ah, Tohe, he bey da Solstheim Kind! I told yous!" The Redgaurd said, nudging the shortest robed figure, who's hood fell off and revealed the Breton boy. Five claw-like slashes crossed his face, his brown hair hung to his shoulders, and his brown eyes turned towards the other figure.

The third robed figure removed it's robe, revealing a large White Werewolf.
However, it wasn't Reichi. Its eyes were a light blue, like that of a wolf pup's, it's white fur was marred by patches of black fur, esspecially one on the muzzle. However, the bigest difference was that it was a female.

"Git 'em Eya!" Tohe said. The Werewolf, Eya, leapt for Jean. Trying to struggle him to the ground and pin him there.

Posted by: Master of Nas Jan 25 2005, 03:44 AM

Jean fell to the ground with her and then launched her off him with his feet. in the same motion he had jumped back up into a defensive position, ready to fight.

Posted by: Aki Jan 25 2005, 03:47 AM

The Redguard nor Tohe had been idle, both had disappeared from view. Several Paralyze spells shot out at jean from behind trees. While Eya jumped for him again. Once again trying to pin him.

Posted by: Master of Nas Jan 25 2005, 03:55 AM

Jean managed to dodge most of the spells, but one still managed to hit his left leg, it went completely numb. He landed and stumbled to the ground.

Posted by: Aki Jan 25 2005, 04:00 AM

Eya placed a knee on the leg that was still in working condition, then pinned Jean's hands down with her own.

"She got 'im." The Redgaurd yelled to Tohe. The Breton nodded, and cast other spell, just to be sure.

"Told ya we shoulda came in day, at least he could have TALKED then," the Breton said to the Redgaurd.

"How waz i suspostah know 'e was a Solztheim kind like Eya?" The Redgaurd responded.

"Well, now we got to wait till day."

"Fokk."

Posted by: Master of Nas Jan 25 2005, 04:02 AM

Jean still understood some of what they were saying, and catching the gist of it he stopped struggling.

Posted by: Aki Jan 25 2005, 04:10 AM

"He stopped strugglin'," Tohe anouced. Eya gazed him a look that seemed to say "Duh". The Redgaurd snickered at Tohe, then looked to Jean. "Shame we don't got one 'o dem rings like Reichi 'as," he said.

EBONHART

Issa Yojimbo, the half-dunmer-half-imperial treasure hunter is sitting in a bar in Ebonhart. His last adventure showed him that times were changing in Tamriel.

Most importantly, his sword, the blade marked with ever-changing glyphs, the weapon that is tied directly to the Elder Scrolls themselves, the blade that can change prophecy, is missing.

Issa Yojimbo, weaponless and in shock, reflects on all that had happened. He knew that he was a differant man than he was a few short months ago. He knew he had to be stronger.

SADRITH MORA

"Why am I even here?"

Felix Felices, a tall Knight of the Imperial Order dressed in elegant flowing robes, with an enourmous sword strapped to his back, walked down the street of the Telvanni city toward the Legion Garrison.

Back at Jazbet's estate, Loranna was nowhere to be seen. Or at least, Setzer couldn't find her. Resolved that he would fight for her cause, he knew he would have to bet back into shape.

Carefully he removed each of his rings, earrings, and other jewels. http://eyesonff.com/ff6/images/characters/setzersd-tn.gif. Then he set out from the castle, and began to jog around the fields. As he passed various people, a few seemed to want to talk. Finally, after an hour of sprints and jogs, he went over to them to speak.

"My name's Setzer. What can I do ya for?"

A bell was rung from the kitchen.

'There ain't enough room for everyone to sit down at once,' said Razbiah to the other servants. 'Just feed 'em whenever and wherever they show up.'

Jazbet's housekeeper and her staff had put together quite a feast. Boiled meat, boiled vegetables, and it was hard to tell which was which. Everything was the same warm, wet, soft texture, and just about the same shade of beige.

The wine, by contrast, was excellent.

After helping to make Jazbet speechless and blushing, Loranna had given serious thought to heading off to bed.

When the dinner bell rang, though, she decided she could use at least something to eat first, and then maybe chat with people for a spell, before calling it a day.

Loranna heads for the dining area, smiling; she manages nott o bat an eyelash at the vittles, and accepts her meal gratefully.

The wine, though, made up for it, and soon she was nibbling away industrially at her plate.

Tris emerged from his room at the smell of food. He had shaved, which he hadn't done on the ship, of course, and bathed. And he felt - well. Pretty perfect, all things considered, except for his foot, and it wasn't there so it would just have to stop whining.

He wondered what drugs existed for pain that wasn't real.

He smiled at a passing servant. "I'm foraging; can you tell me the way to the food?"

The food turned out to be no great treat. The wine, however, was lovely. He took a glass and retreated to a place by the fire. Where Khajiit met Dunmer - the embroidered floor cushion. Very nice.

Walking to the fireplace, she raises her glas to Tris, smiling. "Hello there; behold, your chin has returned. How you doing?"

"No wager, I guess." said Setzer, his curiosity piqued. "But Teleran, you say you want a game of dice? Speak no more, there is no greater darts player in all of Morrowind than Setzer. We shall play a game...but that is the dinner bell. We will play after."

Together, Setzer, Reichi, and Teleran went off to dinner to meet with the others.

Issa walked down the road in Suran, twirling and juggling his new Steel Katana. He focused his magicka on it as before, but aside from a faint glow, nothing happened. He missed a beat, caught the blade with his hand, and deeply cut his palm.

"GAHHHhh....", Issa shouted. He missed the lightness and form of his old blade. He could no longer cast the spells of power that he could before, neither could he travel through the Void. He never felt so powerless.

At Dinner the first thing Reichi went for was the meats. Finding those not to his liking he went for the fruits and vegatables, when those weren't particularly tastey either he stayed with the wine. He rather liked the wine.

She takes a very tiny sip of the wine. " ... We may want to head down to the village later, maybe check out the tavern," she suggests. "I'm feeling slightly nostalgic ... as is my palette, as you may or may not guess."

Dinnertime; Setzer had lots of wine - it was one of the best bottles he'd had since the Mournhold 1054 he'd won off of Soscean at the Winged Guar.

"Hey there, Loranna," he mumbled unfocused. "You're looking fine tonight. And might I add that is a great dress. Well, well, now, look at those stars. Aren't they romantic? Look, I can see shapes in the stars!"

He wandered off, woozy.

Teleran was amazed that Setzer had managed to lose his sobriety so quickly. He slipped some of the more obnoxiously large baubles into Setzer's coat, but kept a few of the more interesting jewels. He ate his fill of the dishes served, despite his earlier belly-aching. He pulled a diamond encrusted ring out of his winnings and wondered if there were enough diamonds for an invisibility potion.

Vren made his way through the room in no particular direction. As he made his way through the crowd his hands were constantly busy, 'finding' things and putting them in his pouches. He snatched a glass of wine, drank it, and then the glass mysteriously dissapeared. He may have been absent minded, but he was still good. NOt one single person relized there purses, or rings, or dining utensils were missing for a while. In Fact vren didn't even notice his hands doing all the 'finding'.

as he walked his hands noticed a ring engraved to look like a wolf on someones finger. His hands almost seemed to pull the rest of Vren over to it. The wood elf, of course, was completely oblivious to what his hands were doing as they went for the ring.

Loranna blinks at the exchange between Setzer and the woman who he thinks is Celeste.

" ... Er, you have heard about the events in Skyrim and Morrowind in the past few months, yes lady?" Loranna asks, starting to get a strange feeling from this woman.

Maranda in Cydoriil
The Hinterland, near Chorrol

The farmland ended near a spectacular forest, and within that forest, according to the townsfolk of Chorrol, some strange cult was based... a ruined Alyid Temple, apparently. Maranda hoped it was the cult she was after, the Lunar Cult of Shezzar. Slowly, she drew her white-gold sword, and entered the forest... carefully watching out for monsters. The townsfolk said that there were Minitors in the forest, Harpies, and even somthing they were too scared to mention, somthing they only called Billy...

However, Maranda was not afraid of Minitors, Harpies or even these mysterious "Billies" and slowly made her way into the forest, her Quest Compass showing her the direction the way to the ruined temple. A terrible screech was heard from above... Maranda turned and faced the fiend heading for her, a Harpy...

"I see ..." Loranna says, her expression showing concern. " ... Er, quite a bit has happened in recent years, I'm afraid."

... Lots more than really ought to be dumped on this woman's head right now, Loranna decides. She sounds like she's still rather out of it ... hmm ...

" ... You sound as though you've been traveling a fair ways to reach here," Loranna tells the woman. "I'm about to get a second helping, would you like to come and get some food as well? The food's a bit bland but the wine helps it go down easier."

Posted by: Tricrux Jan 25 2005, 06:33 AM

Setzer stumbled off to his room, and was asleep instantaneously.

The woman also chose not to speak with Loranna. She left the castle, apparently going to wherever she would be sleeping.

Maranda in Cydoriil

The Harpy screached, as its long claws struck at Maranda's unarmoured arm, diging in deep... this was unexpected, but Maranda took the pain, and swung her sword to strike the flying Fiend. The harpy flew back in an effort to dodge the blade, but not fast enough, as the sword hit the Harpys Talon... Screeching once more, it flew off in pain... but then again, Maranda was also in pain. She dropped her sword, and wraped her wound with an old rag to stop the bleeding... It worked, but the pain was still there... but she was used to pain, she just hoped that the smell of her blood would not atract any more fiends, or that the harpy would return with her friends... bearing the pain, Maranda carried on, deeper into the woods.

What vile fiend will our hero encounter next? Will she find the mysterious Red Robed Nord? Will the Lunar Cult actually be at the ruins? find out in the next installment of Maranda in Cydoriil

Far from Lord Jazbet’s keep, in the northern reaches of Vvardenfell, a cold wind caressed the rocky fragmented isles that were the Sheogorad region. Dreary and overcast, grey was an apt term to describe the weather. The Sea of Ghosts hurled itself upon the shore countless times in what seemed like a futile attempt to overcome the land. Typically, this was the normal scene undisturbed save for the occasional rat or mudcrab that would shamble across the beach.

Things were not typical at current though. Tents dotted the shore, perched comfortably above the tide lines. Men and mer, both in and out of mail patrolled between them, sat gathered around several small fires waiting on food, and otherwise attended to the business of the armed camp.

Several men, all recently promoted, sat in council in a large pavilion that served as a command post of sorts. It was a luxurious tent, warm and well made; its former owner no longer needed it having suffered a blow that resulted in his somewhat recent death. Several guards were posted around the perimeter preventing any curious ear from over hearing the conversation within.

Reichi shook his head, then went back to drinking.

Meanwhile, in Vvardenfell...

They had tied up Jean and subdued him with a sleep spell. Now all that was left to do was wait for dawn. Eya had gone off into the woods hutning, while Tohe and the Redgaurd gathered round the fire.

"We's gotz ta leave diz Island. All oblivion is breaking looze." The Redgaurd said.

"Your right Camassim. We should leave. Via Khuul in the morning."

"Where would we's go? We'd need out own ship. 'Specially wit Eya and dat guy?" The Redgaurd, Camassim, replied.

"The Mainland i suspose."

"Where in da mainland?"

"Wherever we land. We can't miss it...."

"True Dat."

Razbiah watched the woman from the kitchen, smiling, 'Beautiful women. You can never predict whether they're going to be rude or stupid, but it's always one or the other ... And in rare cases like this, both ...'

She returned to the kitchen. The larder would need to be replenished. They were eating everything she was feeding them, bless their hearts.

Loranna watches as the strange woman declines getting any food in favor of getting rest, and reflects that there might have been some wisdom in that decision.

Having said she was going to get seconds herself, Loranna feels obligated to actually do so; Razbiah did work hard to prepare this food even if she managed to cook all the flavor out. Still ... it was good for her, she had been told ...

Loranna makes her way back to get seconds. She may not be much of a Nord by upbringing but she had Nordic blood in her; she could handle a second helping of Razbiah's cooking.

Loranna smiles as she asks "Another helping please?"

Solin sat out on the sandy beach. The simulacrum was, as always, nearby. He had pestered a servant into wrapping up what foodstuffs he could and brought it out with him. He lounged, back against a rock, and enjoyed the view of the evening sea.

Maranda in Cydoriil

There was a small stream up ahead, and Maranda sat down close to it... She took of the bandage, and washed her wound. She heard a russle in the bushes behind her, she drew her sword, and turned to face any threat that was heading her way... nothing came out. She quickly filled her canteen with Water, and took a piece of bread from her pack, when a thunderball blasted out of the forest, straight at Maranda. The spell was absorbed into her robe, as Maranda turned to see three men running from the bushes, swords drawn, towards her. There were two nords, and a breton each with a red piece of cloth tied arount thier arms. She placed her hand on the ring of the Shadowmind, and whispered some words...

ROAR!!!!!

"Anyone else 'showing up' is going to be tied in knots, taken up to the top of the tower, and dropped from there, head first. I'm afraid this isn't one of your open parties anymore, Loranna. There are lives at stake here, the lives of people I care about."

She turned to Razbiah. "Can you tell me where Jazbet is? Obviously security is more urgent than I expected it to be."

Dante, now dressed in his full onsuite of armour, sat not too far off from the main group, eating rather slowly. Illidan however has found himself exploring the island, for reasons unknown.

Meanwhile, on a dark Island somewhere near Vvardenfell (spooky, no?)-

"You, failed to subdue him?" Asked a surprisingly tall Dunmer, his voice sounding deeper and raspier than the usual Dunmers'. "Yes, he managed to escape our reach..." Replied Brum, crouched down on one knee, staring at the floor, his hood was now back.

The tall Dunmer man sighed, "I will give you one, but one more chance to get this job complete, I would think it be rather simple, here, to make it even easier for you, take some of the cultists."

He made a small hand gesture and atleast a dozen figures stood up, all bearing tattoos similar to that of of the recently encountered characters, yet their tattoos were much simpler than that of Brum etc.

The aged Dunmer began walking into the closest room, each footstep cracking the material he walked on, the atmosphere around him rippling, making it very dense, he dissapeared out of sight with a "Don't fail me..."

"Okay, let's go, we have a general idea of where he was last heading, let's check it out." Stated Brum, making his way out of the door, Inzoliah, Merciander and the group of cultists not too far behind.

'You're already trying to get my guests so leave after one day,' said Jazbet, stepping into the kitchen. He was wearing a suit of black, trimmed with midnight blue, as befitting the lord of a Dres manor house. The Khajiit also wore a new blindfold of black silk. 'You are the finest house mistress in the land, Razbiah, but this place could use some etiquette lessons.'

Maranda in Cydoriil

At the sight of the giant before them, the three cultists stopped and stared at the massive Flame Monarch that was Flamey
'Kill them all' She said quietly... 'this is your chance to make amends for your previous mistakes'
ROAR!!!! Flamey replied happily, as a massive fireball formed in his hands.
The Cultists, seeing this, turned to run, but it was too late, Flamey fired the fireball at the three cultists, the explosion hitting them directly. Maranda canceled the summon, and slowly walked up to the three charred corpses... the breton, it seemed, was still alive, but only just.

'Kill me' the Breton said in a dry voice
'Only after you answer some questions' Maranda said, her sword ready, 'Are you members of the Lunar Cult of Shezzar?'
'Yes...' croaked the Breton
'Very good. how would I get into thier headquarters?' Maranda asked
'The door is in a cave near the ruins' he said
'does it need a key to enter?'
'No, you must press... the bu... button by... the...' finished the Breton before falling dead. Maranda looked at her quest compas, which told her that she should head up the river. Sheathing her sword, she started up the river

Keep your mouth shut and your ears open at this Lor; it's time to start your learning and growing into an adult, she tells herself as she follows.

Lord Dres Jazbet’s study was on the highest level of the tower, up a narrow stone stairwell. Its wide windows looked out to sea beyond the bay, and into the woods, as far as the lights of Ald Raathim in the west.

In between the windows, tapestries hung to keep out the chill on winter nights. A huge double-sided desk dominated the center of the room, with several smaller tables and chairs scattered throughout. The papers and ledgers were neatly organized by Kallen. The fireplace was already lit.

Aricyn had washed down the last bite of his meal with a grimace and a glass of wine, thanked Razbiah for a lovely meal, and then left the hall, the old wolf following behind.

The two returned some time later, Aricyn looking rather proud of himself with a dead wild boar slung over each shoulder.

"MEAT is serv... Where is everyone?" he said to the wolf.

"Gwuf."

Aricyn put the pigs where the cook was sure not to find them, and followed the stairs to Jazbet's office.

Allerleirauh turned to Doll. "Find Master Arynel, and tell Master Solin to get his nose out of a book and join us."

"I'm not laughing, Jazbet," Allerleirauh said. "People should be able to live in peace. Pax Imperium, right? You've done well. Now we test the notion that people who have known happiness are willing to fight even harder to keep it. Your people should be armed, not to defend us, but to defend themselves. And we must at once make a survey to determine if any of them have strange blue eyes.

"Teleran, you have a point. Does anyone have any suggestions?

"Setzer, the woman was first in my mind. Do you know anything about her?

Solin appeared in the study’s doorway. Doll had found him reflecting on Jazbet’s beach. The mer gave a slight bow as he entered. Retreating to a corner of the room, he remained silent as he listened to the ongoing discussion about the keep’s defense and security, bringing himself up to speed on their current topic.

Loranna speaks up.

" ... I don't know much about defending against winged beasts," she says, "but since the Azurites want me dead as much as any of us and since I am so distinctive, perhaps I ought not to be here, to draw attention to us all."

... Or at least people should think that, she ponders, wishing she could reach her thoughts out to Allie.

'Kallen,' said Jazbet, turning slightly to where he knew the seneschal was. 'She is right. We should begin by bringing all the guards together to see if any of them have succumbed to Azura. Once we have determined that, we can begin a thorough search of the domain. Now, where we're going to get weapons to arm a thousand peasants, I have no idea.'

He still didnt want to respond. A sensitive subject, perhaps?

Then he heard what Loranna said. "What? She has no recollection of the last four years?"

Suddenly he buried his head in his hands and began to weep.

"Blessed Mara," he whispered, "it's Celeste. You can trust her, I guarantee it. She's here to find me, no other reason. I can tell you more later, at a more appropriate time. But rest assured, she can be trusted. Oh, praose the Nine, she's alive..."

We need allies, yes, and if you would add your strength to ours we would be grateful - but even a gambler has to share his hand with his partners, good cards and bad."

"Please - if you truly wish to fight with us, be open; all of us have known pain and none will fault you for having done so as well. If not, then it would be best for you to stay away; I would not wish you to die in a cause you did not have full faith in."

"I met Celeste when we were in our early growing years, before she was beautiful. I loved her first for her personality, her ability to make me laugh, make me cry, make me somber, all at a whim. Four years ago, we got involved in the sacking of a slaveholder's castle. At the top of his tallest tower, we went up together, to see the view. The mob thought we were the man we had just slain, and tried to bring down the building. Celeste and I fell from the rooftop, and as we fell...I could have saved her. I could have broken her fall by latching onto the wall and grabbing her in the same motion. My arms would have snapped and I would have died, but she would have escaped without a scratch. But in that moment, I was unable to do it. When we hit the ground, I was the one who made it. To this day she was thought dead, and I thought she had left me. The stables were located a few yards behind the castle. The first thing that the group notices on seeing the building was how much taller it was that a traditional stable. If anything, it resembled a saltrice silo, which is what any who explored the area would have assumed it to be.

The vibrations, the ceaseless buzzing was evident before Kallen opened the door.

It was dark inside, but the stable master, an Argonian, stepped forward, surprised. He was polishing a saddle. More were strapped up on the walls.

'We wanted to see the parraptons,' said Jazbet.

The Argonian rubbed his dry hands together in a clumsy sort of a buzz, and the darkness above came alive.

Wasps the size of horses lit down from above. Twenty of them, as Kallen said, sixteen adults and four little ones, huddled around the monstrous queen.

Loranna looks up. Her eyes widen.

" ... Riding those must be quite the experience ..." she says, briefly picturing Jazbet riding one of these parraptons, laughing. "... So the Azurites don't command the air as much as I thought at first ..."

Allerleirauh had known what to expect, having seen one long before, in her travels. She had never seen so many, though. The smell was overpowering, like the woods full of crickets and cicadas on a summer night but stronger.

Tris had never seen one, although he had heard rumors of such a thing. His eyes were wide, but not with fear.

Dante, looked up at the flying insects, his face twisted into a grimace and he began to shake his head from side to side quickly.

"Hey Dante, what's up...?" asked Illidan, just now showing up at the site, "Hah, they expect us to fly around on these things..." Dante laughed nervously.

"Oh, right, you're afraid of heights, well Dante, maybe if you're nice enough they'll let you ride one of the baby ones, they'd probably be more at your pace eh?" Illidan chuckled, stepping forward, from behind him Dante clenched his fists angrily.

Teleran's jaw dropped at the sight of the parraptons. Then his face split into the widest grin he had worn in a long time. "Which one's mine?" he asked the Argonian keeper. "Silt Striders always struck me as an annoyance, no real use, just miss the scenery, but these..."

Teleran realized he was gaping again, and shut his mouth. Then he began inquiring of anyone nearby how to give basic commands to the mount and how to tell what the parrapton wanted to do.

She will sense if you are too frivolous or drunk or in any way unworthy of her patronage, and might hurt her children. You need to approach her with respect.'

Loranna nods. "I understand," she says, growing more serious.

Loranna slowly approaches the queen, Sanja's innate majesty almost palpable to her. These weren't just giant bugs, any more than Kynidus was 'just' a horse - these were companions, who were going to be asked to risk themselves for the sake of their riders' cause. Insect or no, they deserved respect for the efforts they were going to make, the dangers they were going to risk.

Loranna nods once to Sanja, awaiting the queen's judgement. She stands straight, not slouching or wincing - such disrespect was unthinkable.

Jaster walked up to the Queen with a confident air. He had ridden these creatures before, and the Queen was comfortable with him. The Dunmer bowed slightly.

"If they don't approve, their sting only hurts a little." Said Jaster, placing his hand on his right shoulder. Jaster then picked up a strange looking saddle and placed it on the largest of the parraptons. Making sure all could see what he was doing. It was obvious he had performed this demonstration many times before.
