Loremaster’s Archive and a Progress Update

Have you been keeping up with ESO's Loremaster Archives? This weeks entry is all about Hircine and werewolves, and is definitely worth a read. As always, you should submit questions for the series to community@elderscrollsonline.com - I'm sure you guys have some great things you're itching to know.

Although we've fallen behind on reporting news around the Library, lots of progress has been made. Thanks to the help of laurelanthalasa and the nighthawker, the Emperor's Guide transcription is nearing completion. The next chapter, covering Hammerfell, will go live early next week, and we'll be rolling out the rest week by week. Art, currently absent, will be added as the final step.

We are also most of the way through uploading the new books from ESO, with most of the remaining texts being journals, notes, or duplicates from previous games. New books are being added every day, and once they're all up, we'll be turning out attention to uploading the Loremaster's Archive series mentioned above, as well as books from Beta that did not make it into the final game. Not to mention, of course, updating the timeline and our articles with all the new information.

Why do you have be 18+ to be on the site? It isn't as if I'll see anything pornographic.

On the ESO website? The game is rated M for mature, so you need to be over 17 by ESRB guidelines.

I've already been uploading the Loremaster's Archive books, Lady N. They're marked with a Librarian's Note. The ones at the bottom of the links are already in our archives, typically, but the stories on top are new. Haven't done anything with the "Ask us Anything" info yet though. Was gonna ask you about that one.

Mature Rating:

MATURE

Content is generally suitable for ages 17 and up. May contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.

ESO specific:

Quote:
Rating Summary: This is a multiplayer online role-playing game in which players assume the role of a warrior in the fantastical world of Nirn. As players explore open-world environments, they can perform various quests and complete tasks. Characters use swords, arrows, axes, and magic attacks (e.g., lightning, fire attacks) to kill human-like and fantastical enemies (e.g., orcs, demons, giant insects). Players engage in melee-style combat, hacking and slashing at various enemies; battles are highlighted by cries of pain, impact sounds, and blood splashes. Some sequences depict large amounts of blood streaming up-close as vampires attack/feed on characters. In some quests players have the ability to mount creatures' severed heads onto pikes; some environments depict corpse piles or skeletons hanging from torture devices. Text descriptions or dialogue sometimes contain references to sexual material and/or innuendo (e.g., “She...raped the men as cruelly as Bal had ravished her”; “In his mind, she would be the sheath to every knight's blade”; “No sweetmeat for you”; But it is huge! It could take me all night!”). During the course of the game, alcohol (i.e., wine, mead, ale) can be purchased and consumed by the central character; one sequence prompts players to engage in a drinking contest, resulting in the central character's blurred vision/slurred speech.

In Europe it has a 16+ rating (which doesn't exist in the ESRB).

If you need the consent of an adult to play these games, then you have mine. Go forth and grow your imagination. It's good for you.
