The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Morrowind Moonlight

Posted by: Loranna Yesterday, 11:50 AM

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary:

Loranna, and her companions, have recently experienced a shift in reality, finding themselves in a world where Azura emerged victorious in the Blue Dawn. The heroes who used the Eiodolon to defeat her never made it, and now Azurites were fighting against Captain Cyndarius's men for Ald Raathim. Dres Jazbet, with his Lady Kethiah, control the castle, Jazbet's precognition making him a deadly foe, and the heroes were forced to flee to town, which Cyndarius's men controlled.

The Eight who were to go to Allerleirauh, bearing the Mythopoeic Tome, have been chosen and entered the spheres though Diamond was forced to turn back at Kyne's gate. Goranthir has joined the party, however, and now the new Eight, with a guide (Saint Deothur of Dibella), have sojurned through the realms of Akatosh, Kyne, Dibella, Arkay, Julianos, and Mara, where Luxi has been forced to turn back. The Seven now travel through Zenithar's realm while Tris looks for an eighth to join them.

Meanwhile, Cyndarius, the 103rd Legion, and those who did not go with the Eight make their way through Skyrim to the fallen Imperial City, hoping to rescue the Emperor from the Azurites. His men have recently joined up with the 95th Legion, and have encountered some more heroes and refugees, including Gram Pyrel, last seen heading out to Skyrim. The legions and the heroes, flush with a recent victory over the Azurites in Pale Pass, conintue their march, praying for the success of the Eight.

Oh ... it's also snowing out. Cats and dogs.

Update

Goranthir, a Prince of Firsthold, is one of the Eight, seemingly reluctant to show his True Self, he is appearing now as his hero, Tris.

Posted by: Allerleirauh Yesterday, 11:55 AM

ooc: The Eight - seven, since Luxi was forced to turn back - are in the realm of Zenithar, a magnificent city where anything can be bought for the right currency.

Tris Gaerington, having taken Luxi back to Ald Raathim, is having trouble juggling priorities. He needs to take her someplace safe; but he also needs to find a replacement to join the Eight on their journey.

Summary for Nalion:

Outside, Cyndarius made his polite goodbyes to the Potentate, saw him on his way, and turned toward his tent, where he knew Merey had taken the obviously observant young lady.

Cyndarius walked into the tent to find Lyssia sitting there, still holding her mug of tea, "Now you were to explain what was going on, your Generalness?" she asked, sipping her tea. It was auful, she thought, tea that was not good for any palate

Posted by: S'reddit Yesterday, 11:57 AM

"What do you want for that?" Goranthir asked the flower seller, pointing to the most miserable, rotten rose.

The flower seller was a young girl. She smiled into Goranthir's face. "A handsome young fellow like you wants a better rose than that!" she said, laughing. "I trade in memories, sweet scents from childhood. Ephemeral, like my flowers."

Summary: Herwyn Brand, one of the Eight, has given up all of his being save for his personality and will. He kind of hit a breaking point, and is now an amorphous, rather megalomaniacal spirit with very little respect for those who haven't grasped enlightenment with as open-armed an embrace as he has.

Oh, and he now talks in a
spooky grey voice!

Cyndarius blushed noticably. "Call me Cyndarius, please.

"Thank you Merey," he said to the Lieutenant.

"No problem," said Merey, but he didn't make a move to leave.

"May I ask your name, Lady?" Cyndarius asked, sitting down on a folding field chair.

"I like it," Goranthir smiled, knowing that the face of Tris would warm any heart. "If you value it so low, perhaps I could have it for free?"

"I am the Baroness Lyssia Biennie of Daggerfall, the heiress of my father, Baron Dunhem Biennie of Daggerfall. You sure had this tent set up fast," she poured out the rest of the tea onto the ground and continued, "I was in Daggerfall planning my wedding, my Fiancee, Landon, in there, had just gone to hire us our priest... and then suddenly, I was here, in the Pale Pass, with a race of creatures that should not exist anymore besieging the pass... it was like the world slipped into an alternate reality. My fiancee knows nothing of what happened... it is like this is the normal world for him... but its not for me... tell me, do you know whats happing?" Lyssia finished blurting everything out at once

"Be a fool, it bothers me not," said the swirling spectre of Herwyn Brand, "but do not, for the sake of our mission, dirty your hands with the things sold here. They will burden your soul even more than it already is, which is considerable enough to be lamentable, at present.

Two baleful eyes appeared in the grey mist.

"Tris Gaerington is not nearly such an [censored]. Nor is he such a fool. Imitate him if you are too weak to do otherwise, but do not mock him."

Having no hands, the insubstantial being did not take the rose.

Loranna walks down the sword-path, mulling over whether to go kick Goranthir in the back of the head first or to cast Absorb Willpower on Herwyn for five minutes straight first, or to leave the two of them alone and take Slyvos aside for a talk she really felt she needed to have, now.

And as she's walking, one voice out of the many that fill the air catches her ear:

"Used Reputations bought and sold! Be the Grand High Phumba, the Eternal Champion's Older Brother, or the Scourge of Tamriel, all for a bargian price! Tired of being the World's Slowest Guild Guide, the Betrayer of Kings, or the Prince of Failed Plots? Step right up and trade it in!"

Loranna pauses, blinking, and turns to look at this stall more closely ...

Cyndarius sighed, smiled, and offered the woman something to drink other than that awful tea.

Then he set about explaining how the world was broken, how some people were aware and others weren't, and how some things mattered now and others didn't. In short, he explained the unexplainable.

Somehow parts of it seemed best illustrated using farm stories.

Goranthir shrugged, ‘A gift is still a gift even if not accepted,’ he said, quoting his grandmother on his father’s side, of whom he hadn’t thought in years. He continued down the road, rose in his pocket.

The tent entrance flapped open and let in a cold gush of wind and was quickly closed again behind a medium-sized Breton in a robe. Nalion was able to overhear the last bit of conversation.

Gazing at the persons present, he courteously adressed the lady in front of him.
"Good day to you, my Lady. A most unusual sight on a battlefield like this, but not unwelcome. I hope you fared well these last days. I am called Nalion.", the mage greeted her, then turned to Cyndarius with a wry expression on his face. "One of your men told me to look for you, Cyndarius, and what do I hear... farm stories? I guess there's more to it than that, though, given the Lady's comments."

Cyndarius looked over the flyer, honestly pleased by how out of place such an offer was at the moment. He loved unshakable hope more than any other quality, in a person.

"I would be honored to attend, My Lady.

"Until that time, I'll be asking you to accompany me to the South. You see, if your beloved fiancee falls in battle here, all will be set right in the end, but if you do, then...

"It would be safest if we... 'heroes' as you put it, stuck together. I hope that doesn't inconvenience you too... Ah! Nalion, there you are.

"This is the Baroness Lyssia Biennie of Daggerfall. She'll be travelling with us, from now on. Although I don't consider it a real blessing for her, she knows what's going on."

He handed Loranna a potion vial.

She smiles and kisses the vendor on the cheek. "Thank you," she says, turning back to rejoin her companions.

Only time would tell if the deal she had made would work out as she thought it would; that was the great frustration and joy of being mortal.

"Yes, Maranda. I have met her a few times. Your family is truly remarkable, Lyssia, to bring forth two of such potential.", Nalion commented, taking a careful sip of the content of his cup, then listened to Lyssia's story.
As she began to cry, his expression began to soften. Nalion put down his cup and stood as well. Since Cyndarius had taken her into his arms, he simply offered Lyssia a warm smile.
"A true hero is not born, but made, shaped on the anvil of surrounding events. Your ability to see and understand what happens right now is just a beginning." Nalion was reminded of his own past and the time it took before he realized what happened around him. "Give it time and let it grow."

Were the cup Nalion had just put down still in his hand, the mage would have dropped it at Lyssia's reaction. His eyebrow shot up again and he looked stunned and surprised. He clearly had not expected this sort of reaction.
As Lyssia had left the tent, Nalion slowly regained his composure and his mouth snapped shut.
"Lucky her that healing spells can be ranged, too...", he muttered.

Turning to Cyndarius, he said, "She's right though, it's growing dark and it's time for sleep. There may come days where we need to be rested. I'll do likewise. Thank you for the tea."
With a nod, the mage left the tent and headed to his own that had been prepared for him.

Isidor walked around Zenithar's sphere, examining all of the wares. He had wanted to punch Goranthir and Herwyn, but had resisted. His personality had left him at the gate, and now he felt upset. He didn't have the sense of humor that he had thought he had for so many years.

Summary: Anya, the Bosmer Rogue left temporarily mute by her sister's shade, is traveling with the Eight. She has become extremely emotional as she passed through the spheres, innocent by nature now, and empathetic to others feelings. She is now appearing younger too, as if she's aged ten years younger, even more lithe and smaller than before.

Oh, and she doesn't get to talk in a spooky grey voice.

IC: Anya was a whirl of emotions now, no amount of rational thought tempered them. She was scared at Herwyn. The disdain that came off him terrified her, that one could care so litle for those not of the same mind. Goranthir angered her. The mocking tone he carried, whether he knew it or not, was enough to make her mad. And how he seemed to care so little for others help now.

And the busyness of this next sphere overwhelmed her. She felt small and meek, like a lost child, admist the haggling and bargaining. Nothing caught her fancy yet, and she supposed she should be grateful, as she didn't know how she would act if she didn't.

Anya huddled close to Isidor, the one rock in the sand she could see. Arms pulled tight, she stared wide-eyed at all of the venders and merchants.

That night, Shaka walked into Nalion's tent. He knew he looked more at peace than he had for a while.

"Tris came to me," said Shaka. "I know now why I didn't leave with the Eight at first. I have to go."

Having said his goodbyes to Shai, Marein, Teleran, and the others, Shaka cast the spell of Recall.

Shaka found himself in an empty field in Ald Raathim. In this world, Loranna had never built an arena.

The Argonian ran at full speed to the Drunken Guar tavern, activating the Amulet of Shadows.

Shaka walked into the taproom. Azurite locals sat laughing at tables over tankards of ale, having cleaned up the Drunken Guar somewhat. He noticed the mystic blades still spun at one end of the room, eternally revolving around all axes.

The battlemage paused for a moment and tried to tamp down his fear. Unlike the original Eight, he knew beforehand what the blades would do to mortal flesh.

You're running out of time, he thought to himself. Come on, go; women endure the pain of childbirth without dying; they have faith. Go.

With a battle cry like tearing metal, Shaka ran into the mystic blades. The pain was beyond his imagining . . .

The Azurites whirled in their chairs and stared at the mist of blood, scales dropping to the oaken floor like a handful of seed.

As Tris hurried back through the gates with her in his arms, she feel uncounsious again.

Luxi...

A voice called to her from far away.

Luxi...

"Who's here?" Luxi shouted into the darkness.

Luxi... I need your help...

Luxi began to run through the darkness.

"Where are you?"

I need help, Luxi.. help me...

Luxi stopped running, trying to figure where the pleas of help came from.

Then she heard something big running behind her.

She ran. She ran as fast as she could through the darkness.
She could feel the breath of the beast chasing her on her neck, and she could here the pleas of help ahead of her.

Luxi... I need help...

There was a growl behind her, and a light ahead of her.

She ran to the light.

Luxi....

Luxi found herself floating, watching...... herself... and her mother...

They were in the garden, planting ash yams.
Ahjaar kept calling to Luxi for her to help her plant this one ash yam, but Luxi didn't respond.
She was watching something in the forest.

"Luxi?" Ahjaar gets up and goes to where she was standing.
"Luxi, whats wrong?"

Luxi said nothing. She only pointed into the forest.

Ahjaar looked, but she saw nothing.
"What?"
Luxi begain to walk into the forest, and Ahjaar followed.
"What is it?"

Luxi walked deeper into the forest, then they stopped
A large bird stood in their path. It hissed at them, but did not move.

Ahjaar drew her blade, but Luxi rasied her hand, stopping Ahjaar from attacking it.

The bird walked over to Luxi, it's beak touching her nose.

Ahjaar rasied her blade...

The bird opened its beak....

Ahjaar swung the sword back, then brought it around...

A white wispy strand shot out of the birds mouth into Luxi's...

Ahjaar's blade hit the bird in the back..

Luxi fell backwards, hitting her head...

The bird squaked in pain and crumpled to the ground...

Ahjaar brought back her blade for another hit..

The bird disapeared...

Summary: Kratos the Ordinator is standing outside in the cold of Pale Pass contemplating what he had done to his Ordinator brethren with his very own Gavel nontheless, the one that perhaps some of them took their oath upon in service to Lord Vivec himself.

The ones he initiated as Ordinators to protect and serve now strewn before him in a bloody mess.

He reached down and picked up an Indoril helm and stared at it noticing the blue hand mark on it, "This is a dream, none of this is real, I couldn't have, could I?" He cast the helm down and dropped to his knees muttering a Temple blessing to counter the evil he felt on the field of battle.

Rubyn shivered and pulled his cloak tighter to his body. He was thinking back, back to when the Breton Nalion had met with him. He would have to meet again, when the situation was more conveniant. Was Cyndarius one of the others Nalion had spoken of that also knew of the strange events? He hoped so. He felt lonely. He knew everybody around him, and yet, it was as if he didn't. The strange events had made him feel detached to those he knew best.

QUOTE(Xyber02 @ Aug 24 2005, 12:49 PM)

*

Isidor hugged Anya and said "Yeah, it's a bit odd for me too. Hopefully we'll get the Oblivion out of here soon."

He looked for Deothur, after thinking about his comment in Mara's sphere. "You said that you tell secrets to those who you love. I thought Dibellians loved everyone."

Anya simply stood there and basked in the safety. Something about Isidor said trust and comfort. She listened to the emotions in him. He was quite possibly the least changed of them all right now. That might mean he has never covered himself with a facade. She felt calm determination, like tempered steel. But underneath that was a quiet turmoil.

She was already growing shorter, where once she was nearly the some hieght, she now stared chest level at him. Her cheeks where even rounder, and she developed more doe-like eyes.

She stood with Isidor as he questioned Deothur. Why was I able to talk? Was it... That must be it. She must have made it where I couldn't do it when I focused. Everytime I wasn't trying to talk, it just came.

She cleared her mind, simply let go. She didn't focus on forming the words. She opened her mouth... but still nothing would come. I thought I had it... Tears brimmed in her eyes again.

"Where is that scrap heap you were talking of, Deothur?" Goranthir asked. "You said the people here throw away many valuable things?"

He smiled at Anya, clearly unaware that he was angering her.

Shaka's Run -- Sphere of Dibella

It was good to have lips, thought Shaka. If only he had time to stay in this paradise.

Running along a razor's edge must be faster for one instead of a group, the evolving Shaka reflected. He dove in ---

Kratos sat alone outside of his tent trying to start a fire to thaw his scrib jerky and himself, he finally got a spark and lit the kindleing under the wood, and relaxed on a rock next to the fire.

He removed his gauntlets and put his hands near the fire, "I wish I could've gone with Loranna and the other seven but I am needed here as well, I hope they are having luck saving the Universe." He said smiling under his helm."

Shaka died again and again as he worked through the gods' spheres, stripped of his illusions. He had always had the more-than-human agility of his race; now he was unremarkable.

Shaka's luck had always been strong, he realized for the first time in his life -- how else had he survived the explorations of his youth, avoided the Blue Dawn altogether, avoided the fateful Hogithums? But luck was no longer a factor in his life, as another mask was discarded like a child's toy.

Speed, will, strength -- all changed, rendered meaningless. Even his personality, the charm that he had been able all his life to wield, making others see through the mask of scales -- puerile now, meaningless.

Shaka suspected only one, perhaps two, parts of him remained now. Intelligence, if no other; though the gods knew he was no genius. Perhaps endurance.

He ran to the gate to Zenithar, and felt only gratitude.

There was a sound like thunder. The remaining seven turned to look back in the direction of the gate from Mara's realm.

The sky was eclipsed by a dragon there. Green, black and red, the creature held a globe in one claw, and in the other was a spear. The dragon raised the claw with the globe, and disappeared.

A Redguard stood before the seven, holding a globe in one hand, with the Spear of Bitter Mercy strapped to his back. His armor was orcish in appearance, with the usual mixture of fine craftsmanship and massiveness. The man had scaled green armor on part of his face, which seemed to be part of his flesh, not metal. His eyes were still hazel.

The Redguard turned the globe over and it disappeared; the armor also vanished for the moment. His hair was tied back and held with an Akaviri clasp, the amber stone within it familiar. Shaka smiled warmly at the group.

It was so cold. The snow was getting deeper by the minute, but the figure just continued north, hoping to go through the pass and head east. He tightened his cloak and continued walking. He was used to most types of weather, but that didn't mean he liked them all. He didn't like this. The Imperial gazed out of his hood torward the pass. Fire. He saw a small flicker in the steady snow and, as he got closer, he saw figures. He reached for his weapon and silently snuck closer. Imperial Legionnaires. "Finally, some good news" thought the figure. He walked up to the fire and heard a soldier call out a question about who he was.
"Hail! I am not hostile. I merely wish for a rest by your fire and maybe offer your group my help, if that is possible."

He stared at Thom curiously then spoke, "Have you not heard it has been over run with Azurites, they control the city now." He warmed his hands by the fire again, "You are welcome to join us, we could use a few good swords around here."

Kratos waited a few seconds then spoke again, "We are on our way to Cyrodiil to rescue the Emperor from those scum Azurites, if he still lives that is and hope that..." He was about to let the information about Loranna and the others slip to the stranger but thought better of it, "When you have time you should see Cyndarius about joining with us, he would be more than happy to see more soldiers come to join the Legion, just tell him Kratos sent you."

He turned his attention back to the Orc, "Sounds like you have been hard at work there Kokotr, it is good we have seasoned armorers here or we would be a naked force just begging for a sword through the gut." He said with much humor.

Kratos returned his gaze to the Imperial, "You do know this is not reality it is a tie between chaos and order, the loved ones you had in Ald Raathim could yet return."

He mentally smacked himself for letting that much information slip, he didn't know if he could trust the Imperial yet, he could be an Azurite spy just waiting to take knowledge of their quest back to Azura herself.

"Concerning burdens... I fully expect that at the next gate, as I leave yet more mortal weakness behind, that my being will grow even more unrestrained and limitless."

A grey hand formed from the chaos, holding a pure white arrow. The hand pressed the priceless thing toward Anya.

He calmed down and continued, "Loranna and another seven warriors from Ald Raathim are currently traverseing the Aedra's spheres on a quest to confront and stop whoever or whatever is causing this."

"Once inside, you will become like one being, in many bodies, sharing the eight traits which remain. As long as any of you live, you all live. If one of you reaches the far gate, you will all reach it."

The Eight went on to the bladed gate. The hooded figure was waiting, as before.

"They are expecting you,"  the figure said, to Deothur. "Mara has appealed to Stendarr for justice;  they will detain you, or even slay you, if they can. Go as far as you can undetected;  when you are spotted, run. Let the one among you who still has mortal speed pass this gate first.

"Once inside, you will become like one being, in many bodies, sharing the eight traits which remain. As long as any of you live, you all live. If one of you reaches the far gate, you will all reach it."

He gestured towards the gate.

Goranthir nodded, and looked to the group. "I relinquished my speed. Only my agility and luck remain."

Loranna frowns. "I see," she says, looking to her friends. "Then let us go, my dears; one more gate after this, and our destiny awaits." She steps through the gate.

The sword sweeps down, and next to go is ...

How odd, this time was. For the past year or so, she hadn't defined her intelligence by her mental successes, but rather her failures. Could one lose dumbness, instead of intelligence?

The foolishness of a girl who thought her father would come back even after months had passed. The essential silliness of a barmaid's life, full of boys and games and backstabbing to make a noble wonder where peasants learned such skills, but not her - no, she was always too naive to really catch on, or perhaps willfully ignorant, which was foolishness as well. The single stupidest thing any person has ever done - say to the sundered Azura Yes; let me be your vessel, my dear Lady of Dusk and Dawn.

What else could top that? No one stupidity, rather the culmination of constant short-sightedness, of not thinking things through, of assuming no one would react badly when children laughed and praised Azura's name, throwing snowballs and chanting about sweetrolls ...

All this, Loranna gave up, feeling grateful to realize that it wasn't the real her ...

Tamriel, Cyndarius' 103th and 95th Legions at Pale Pass:

Kratos hurried to rouse the troops in his tent and pack it away in one of the wagons as the rest of the Legion packed camp and readied to march out of Pale Pass and into Cyrodiil.

The trumpets blew and Kratos took point at the front line of the march with Cyndarius on his steed leading them. They were marching toward the capitol city of Cyrodiil. They made their way through the pass and into the northern border between Skyrim and Cyrodiil.

Goranthir leapt into the blades, and felt the age of his new body. His new, older body heavier, more stiff, more awkward, as his agility slips away, all his much trained fighting skills forgotten.

Only his luck remained.

Shaka didn't bother to put on his armor before passing through the blades. He came out on the other side knowing that his endurance was gone.

Yet Shaka was not without endurance. He had always had his share and more, enough to walk from one end of Vvardenfell to the other, enough even to bear the recent numbing cold.

Endurance was merely another veil that hid him from his true self. Shaka took off the old veil, not caring if it were packed away for later, or discarded.

"One more step! I wonder, shall I be god, or devil, in the end?"

With a rush, the grey thing shot through the gate. The sword fell, cleaving from Herwyn Brand his very personality; the thing that defined his every action and opinion. Every illusion about himself stripped away, Herwyn stepped onto the bridge beyond the gate.

He was Herwyn Brand. All five-foot-eleven, black haired, pleasantly built bit of him, and all he wore as clothing was a slight silvery glow.

He wasn't naked in that embarrasing, carnal, sometimes amusing way that mortal men are, but in a pure, new, innocent way.

Regardless, Herwyn Brand was, at the very core of his being, a very private man. Trying in vain to be modest, he stood on the bridge awkwardly, his eyes wet with emotion.

Looking at his companions he said, simply, in a terribly ordinary voice, "I am very sorry to you all. I know better now."

Anya lept through, felt the swords bite deeply into her, and cried in pain. As the left, they took part of her with it. She felt sluggish, yet moved with unatural quickness. It was nearly a paradox of losing her speed, and feeling slower than a mudcrab, but yet moving as a quick as an experienced marathon runner. I wonder if this is how Tris feels?

She stood up, her mind suddenly flooded with others. It took her a moment to realize she felt whole again. Not the whole she made for herself, or even the true whole she had become stripped of her facades, but made of of bits an pieces of her companions. With it came their emotions full forced, and it caused ehr to grab her head and shake in in an attempt to empty it.

There was but a twinkle in Goranthir's eyes. Yes, he was now a king. But he was also a 16-year-old boy, and this was a lot of naked flesh. But it was only a twinkle, not a blush, which would have been his normal reaction.

Then he turned to look at the sphere, to see how to progress through it the most stealthily.

It was too late for Herwyn though, she realizes with dull shock. The lion ...

Deothur was helping Reichi; that left the lions and the bird rider by her ...

There's only one thing to do, now, she thinks to herself, chanting the words to a spell she had prepared for desperate times ...

Her limbs grow strong, her body toughens, backed by regeneration magic. Her skill at fighting is blessed ad her feet become fleet.

With a resounding cry, Loranna begins engaging the lions and the rider, intent on stopping them for as long as her body is still intact.

QUOTE(f15tray22 @ Aug 24 2005, 06:53 PM)

Even as Kratos thought that, Thom had approached from the east. Though he wore a dark green cloak, Thom knew plenty of tricks to hide himself in snow, and used them to get back into the ranks just about where he left. Thom said, "I have met up with another scout. Neither he nor I have seen anything to worry us. I checked alittle more east, and didn't encounter anything."

*

Kratos didn't look in his direction he knew he was there, "Good job Thom but we are headed south, it was good you informed me, Cyndarius looks as if he could tan a few hides right now with what little progress we are making, I will let him know Thom."

He kept his eyes forward and marched in pace with the rest, "Thom if you will could you find me a couple of mages and bring them up here for me, I think i have an idea to clear a path through the snow."

Posted by: Allerleirauh Today, 04:03 AM

The lion's jaws clamped down on Herwyn's head; there was a brief struggle, and then it was over.

The bird rider's spear went through Loranna's chest, a moment before the two bird riders were engulfed in their own reflected flames. The other lion leaped at her, bearing her to the ground.

The second tentacle slapped, futilely, in the direction of Reichi, who had run far enough to be out of reach.

The first tentacle erupted from beneath the ground again - straight through Loranna.

The other person still on her feet was Anya, running alongside Deothur and Reichi. She found herself pinned between two riders, fighting for her life. Deothur left her there, running ahead.

Reichi saw that the bridge entered a cave now. Inside it was dark, and full of rustling noises.

"This is the worst part," Deothur yelled. "Let me go first. Then you go while they tear me to bits."

He raced ahead into the cave. There were rustles, and tears, and then the mindless screaming of a man in pain.

"No problem...And I meant I looked in the Southeast direction, not east." Thom smiled and dropped back into the ranks of soldiers. It took not more than 15 minutes for Thom to find four mages and to bring them back up to Kratos.

"I found four mages for you."

Posted by: Aki Today, 04:08 AM

Reichi grimaced and rushed headlong after Deothur into the cave. Hoping that on the gate was close. For some reason, this run seemed longer than any of the others. Maybe it was because Stendarr was putting up better resistance to the party.

On The March

This time Kratos averted his gaze from his front and looked over the Nord feeling the importance his spirit gave off, "You there are you familiar to me, I feel as if I know you from somewhere." He looked over the magic capable Legionaires and then back at the Nord.

"Thank you, Thom, and greetings to you, Ordinator Kratos. My name is Dane Rubyn, and I will be honered, as will my 3 magically inclined companions here, to clear the snow away for the army." Rubyn gave a polite bow, and thought about the task at hand. His mother had been half Breton and half Nordic, and his father was pure Imperial. Some thought it was an odd mix, but he enjoyed it. The Breton in his blood allowed him to take using magic in combat to better lenghts than most in the Imperial Army. Rubyn had made sure to take that advantage, and had trained for long days in honing his destructive talents.

Anya was running full bore now. The lions on either side, plus their mounts, and seperated her from Reichi. Tears streamed down her face from the fear, but she kept going.

She grabbed her spear, and with her remaing agility, lept onto the back of the lion mount. She raised her spear to jam it on the rider's head. Bringing it down, she saw him whip an arm up, grabb the spear, and in one hard throw, tossed her to the ground.

She layed their with the wind knocked out of her, gasping out "Shaka!"

"Depends on which taverns you frequent, my Dunmer friend," Gram says with a merry twinkle in his eye. "Can't say I've met too many Dark Elves in fancy armor like yours, though. But I'll grant you, this company is blessed by Kyne and the Nine, and so we are all brothers in arms on some level."

He holds out his hand. "Gram Pyrel, called Gram the Wild and Gram Twilight Slayer; when the Dawn first arose I fought the Khajiit blue-eyes down south, and now I'm back to finish the job. Seems someone hid a bnuch of Azurites under a rock somewhere for a snowy day." He chuckles.

Falco approached Gram with a large sack of loot. "Hey Gram! Mind carrying this stuff for me? Thanks." Without waiting for an answer, he tossed it to Gram. He then looked to Kratos, "Hey there Kratos. Didn't know you were here. Listen, I know that we got off to a rough start, but I'd like to make amends...." He extended his hand in friendship to the Dunmer.

Shaka, however, had fallen long ago.

One of the riders plunged his spear into Anya's chest, and it was over.

Reichi never did see what was in the cave; Even holding the Dagger of Senses, the darkness was impenetrable. Only the feel of the blade beneath his feet kept him heading in the right direction. He could hear Deothur's screams for a few moments longer, and then they stopped, to be replaced by a wet snuffling and a horrible tearing sound; then the sound of galloping paws.

Something hit him, hard, in the back. Again the golden armor saved him.

Ahead was the gate, and the gatekeeper, placid as ever.

He looked at the group and spoke, "Listen up men Cyndarius is your commander and I probably should not be making orders for him but this time it is needed, we need to clear a path through the snow for the rest of the Legion so we can pick up the pace."

He continued, "Alright each of you I trust have the ability to cast a strong fire spell, this snow needs to go men, we need to space out 50 yards apart and 30 yards in front of Cyndarius there on his mount, if you would be so kind to help I think the General would be rather grateful."

Gram was about to reply when he had a bag of loot shoved into his hands. Watching Falco talk to Kratos, he shrugs, and looks at the bemused Legionares.

With a grin, Gram opens the sack and pokes through, pulling out a flask, which he promptly opens and takes a swig from. He snorts like a bull and rumbles "Ahh, Grotnor's Best! My gut hasn't rotted like this in ages!" He grins broadly and picks up a shovel.

"Well lads, let's build up our sword arms a little with some shoveling; we wouldn't want to only half-decapitate some poor Azurite," he jokes, before attacking the snow. With the expert work of the troops, the snow has no chance to withstand the assault.

Rubyn nodded his agreement, and moved to his group.

"Alright men, this is how we are going to do it. We all have large area damaging fire spells that can be cast from a range. I think one of us casting at a time will be best, as we do not want to wear ourselves out. Let's get to work!"

So they started casting flames to melt away the snow one by one. The snow vanished, but Rubyn started to wonder if the mud would be as much of a problem as the snow.

As Reichi passed the gate, the others felt themselves yanked through it, the last of their mortal lineaments stripped away.

The gatekeeper spoke.

You have walked the Dragon's spine, passed the house of the widow; passed through paradise and walked through the body of the virgin who was violated; escaped snakes and scholars, merchants and men of law. And now you are here, at the last gate.

Kick aside the ladder by which you climbed now, deny the Eight Lies and climb still higher, through me to the summit, which belongs to no one yet.

What you knew as laws - mating and bearing and birth and death - wind and weather, courage and faltering - logic, the attempt to codify the ineffable - toil and commerce - mercy and justice - even time itself - these are only local laws; leave their realm.

Here no one was ever born, nor died; no winds stir, and courage is without meaning, for all challenges have been surpassed; the ineffable shines forth in all its glory; toil and money alike serve no purpose, for all is plenty; and mercy and justice are not needed, for here there is no sin, and none to sin against. Go now beyond time, beyond bodies, beyond the world.

Welcome to the antechamber of the soul. Here rest, and prepare yourselves to enter the ninth sphere, the plain of the eternal conflict.

The Eight, and Deothur, were standing in a very large cave. Around them, in the dim light, countless others also stood, talking, dancing, arguing.

Clearing the Snow

Kratos saw the snow coming but said nothing to Falco as he watched him fall to the ground covered in snow, "Thanks anyway Falco, now i'm off to clear a path."

He sprinted 30 yards in front of Cyndarius and 50 yards apart from the others and began casting long ranged yet low magicka diminishing fire spells melting the snow in front of the Legions.

Kratos smiled as he heard the troops pick up their pace and shouted, "Alright men lets go pick it up before they catch us!" He began a jog and then a run while casting fire spells to melt the snow.

A blond woman, decked only in jewelry, brushes her hair with a brush of silver and ice; her skin is healthy and pink and her eyes are as blue and as deep as the oceans and below her eyes, faint tearstreaks can still be seen. By her side is the book that the party had labored so hard to transport, and next to it lay clothes seemingly woven from ice and silver, with traces of gold.

Still seated, she parts her hair, revealing a face that is recognizably Loranna, though no longer Nordic, specifically. She blinks, her brush still in her hair, and she looks to Deothur with a somewhat shocked expression.

And she says to Deothur "I've ... I've done this before?" confusion passing over her face.

A being both humble and horrible stood there, cackling with power and yet simultaneously maintaining a meek and mild tone. one side of his body was that of a kitsune like being, a pure being. The other side was a demonic, dark-hided being with a malefic green eye, taloned hands, and oddly formed feet. A perfect balance of opposites.

one side of his face was set in a small smile, and, the other in a devious smirk. If you knew what to look for... you would see it was slyvos.

"So this is what I am... and yet somehow I always knew."

His voice was both soft and horrid.

Anya stood there. A lithe girl, barely 15 years of age. She wore a plain, light tan gown that dropped to her knees and hugged her body tight, except where it flared out slight at the skirt. She stood behind Shaka, staring wide-eyed and open-mouthed at everyone. A curious look on her face.

She wore her emotions on her sleeve now. Almost overreacting to everything. Recoiling at horror, unintentionally, at Slyvos. Staring in awe at Goranthir. Looking with jealousy at Loranna. Immense love and passion for Shaka. It overwhelmed her.

Isidor stood, holding only his axe. He was bare, and looked younger, more immature. His hair was a flaxen, golden bland, not dulled by Skyrim, or Dagon Fel. He was well built, and looked strong, but portrayed a sort of weakness. He looked attractive, and seemed to be taller then before. The Trueflower was stuck behind his ear, and his armor had vanished.

He looked around at the room. He saw Loranna, who looked more beautiful then ever. He looked at Slyvos, who frightened him for a moment. He looked at Anya, who looked a frightened child, not the same rogue she had always seemed to be.

He looked around again, a smile on his face.

A marvelous white werewolf, and the Dragon armor was molded to suit its form. "...Well, it seems my Lycanthropy is more than skin-deep...."

The March To Cyrodiil

They had made good progress after Kratos came up with his snow melting idea but still not enough to make up for what they lost.

He had heard it from Cyndarius himself, they would be marching through the night. Kratos sucked up the pain and continued marching like a veteran of his stature would. He thought to himself, this will be good for the greenhorns and the recruits, He shouted Cyndarius' order to the rest of the troops and heard it echo to the back, "Marching through the night!"

He only wished that his Ordinators were there to show the Legionnaires up in how well they marched and followed kratos' orders, they didn't even have to be told to march through the night they just did it anyway even if Kratos would allow them to make camp. he wished in vain.

He knew very well that what was left of his order was either with the Azurites or not tied to reality if otherwise. He thought much about his service to the Temple and his protection of Vivec City while they marched on their way to the capitol.

"Hah, dear," Loranna says to Herwyn, rising and reaching for the clothes. "Earlier than that; I've been mulling over this since Allie sent her letters. I like to plan ahead."

She pulls her hair back into a loose ponytail and begins dressing. A short dress, reaching to her thighs, woven from ice and silver, with gold trim. Over that, a jacket that fully covered her arms, coming together at her neck and leaving the dress's silver designs visible. Knee high sandals to protect her feet, and glittering gloves to protect her hands.

Undreneath the outfit, there had been a simple silver crown and staff; she places the crown on her head and hefts the staff, getting a feel for its weight and balance. A blue and gold cape finishes her ensemble, and she turns to look at her companions.

" ... I ... I remember," she says. "This isn't the first time I've lived; this isn't the first time I've been ... me ..."

Shaka looked at his hand for a moment, the hand of a Redguard, darker now, obsidian yet still warm. He gazed at the one who had worn the mask of a Bosmer with love, then sat for a moment in a meditative posture.

Shaka was illustrated in crimson. Tattoos covered his back, arms, chest, and formed mystic symbols, shifting gently from one to another.

His right hand touched the ground, and his left hand formed a different mudra. All illusions, all vanity, every fear and hope had been stripped away. Shaka was a Thought now, but also Compassion.

" ... We met because of our mortal lives, our feelings were born from shared illusions," she says, touching the demonic side of his face. "But you're just as I've come to see you - split down the middle, but under that still, a soul worth loving."

She pauses, and adds "You, nor Jazbet, have been my first real loves. In other incarnations I've had other lovers, mortal, and otherwise. But none of them are you."

She looks to her friends once more, really looking at them - noting Anya's distraction and Isidor's youth and Herwyn's unassumingness and Reichi's primal nature and Shaka's crimson illustrations, and she smiles like a child in a garden.

"When we find ourselves in the antechamber of couls, would we even recognize one another?" she asks, rhetorically.

"One mask is gone, but these are still masks,"  Deothur said. He had not changed a hair. "There are masks within masks within masks... I don't know how deep it goes. If we could truly see ourselves, the eternal beings we are, making eternal choices so potent that the fate of Tamriel seems like a candleflame, I think we would all tremble."

He looked around at the others.

"This is the fun part, I think."

"This part beats getting pierced through by a long shot," Loranna says, laughing and grinning at Deothur. "Dear Deothur, simple shepard, thank you for guiding us to this place. I can think of no other I would have wanted at our side, in the life I just left behind or the ones before that."

She walks over and kisses Deothur on the cheek, her lips lingering for a moment before she pulls back and smiles.

Rubyn took in some of the liquids that allowed him to rejuvinate his body so that he may continue to help melting away the snow, and passed the flask on to the others. He had recieved the order that they would be marching through the night, and it had been a while since he had used so much magicka in one time period. It was going to be a long night.
