The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Morrowind Moonlight

Posted by: Loranna Yesterday, 02:17 AM

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna, Female Nord: Loranna is in the study of her castle, having just seen a glimpse into the lives of many of her companions due to the power of the book Nalion has recovered. She is coming to realizations that have been in the back of her mind for a while, and trying to help her friends who were overwhelmed by the experience.

Summary: Anya, the bosmeri rogue, has just looked at the book, and saw memories she'd rather forget, again.

QUOTE(Loranna @ Aug 17 2005, 05:57 PM)

Loranna holds out her hands to Anya.  "I can relate.  Reliving having Azura inside me was ..."  She shrugs, letting her expression complete her thought.

*

Anya grabbed her hand, and smiled, "I noticed, mine wasn't the only past I saw. That wasn't a good time for anyone, I think."

ooc summary: Tris, male Breton, visited Daggerfall City in a search for Herwyn Brand. He didn't find Herwyn, but he did learn that Herwyn had paid his old lover Bryn to come to Daggerfall before disappearing. Then Tris was almost trapped in the House with no Doors when he went to visit Ciel.

At the present time, Tris is with the others in Loranna's study. He alone of the group did not touch the book and he's feeling a little odd about being the only one who doesn't know secrets.

QUOTE(Moonblink @ Aug 17 2005, 05:14 PM)

Luxi was alone in the arena. Apparently everyone was at some meeting at the castle.

She wondered if Ahjaar had finished her bussiness in Sadith Mora.
If she had, she would be coming back tommarow.

Luxi shot her bow, the arrow hitting an outer ring.
The next shot hit the target at an odd angle, and fell to the ground.
Luxi sighed. She was so much better at melee.

*

"Don't try to push the arrow out of the bow," a very quiet voice said behind the young girl. It was Cyndarius's scout, the one they called Spooky.

The little Bosmer was barely larger than Luxi. His eyes were as black, unreadable, and, well... spooky, as ever, but the expression on his face was kind.

"Do you want me to show you?"

Summary

Goranthir is with the group in Loranna's study, still reeling from the effects of Nalion's book.

QUOTE(Nalion @ Aug 17 2005, 08:18 PM)

"I know what you're all feeling now. I am sorry, but it needed to be done. Now you know what's at stake.", he said, almost in a whisper.

*

Goranthir had found himself looking down, towards Tris's leg. That was a story he hadn't been told, a nightmare of a dark creature in a dark space, a horrible little girl, screams and blood in the middle of nothingness.

He steadied himself, looked at Tris, and then at Nalion: "I understand, sir, but I would appreciate it next time if you could add a bit of a warning ..."

But he was smiling again. The new stories were settling.

QUOTE(Loranna)

"Nalion," Loranna says quietly but firmly, "you had to do it." She looks at him and offers a small, understanding smile.

"I know, Loranna. I know.", Nalion answered.

QUOTE(Arynel @ Aug 18 2005, 02:18 AM)

The Breton Arynel is in the study at Ald Raathim, examining a book that contains records from the lives of all the party members.

*

Nalion walked over to Arynel.
"As far as I could discern, these two pages are made of so-called memory stones. They can be found in High Rock, yet they are extremely rare. These seem to be special in their abilities, though."

"'
Normal' memory stones record one's thoughts on touch and 'replay' the thoughts over and over again. These seem to work different. They are recording in intervals and they keep recording everything that happens to this group. It seems to be attuned to us. These stones also let the one who touches it control what he wants to see. It needs practice, I guess, but it could be done. It's another aspect that makes this book dangerous."

Spooky's huge eyes were swallowed up in a smile. Quick as a snake, he drew three bone-shafed arrows from his quiver, nocked all three at once, and let fly.

Two of them instantly hit the bullseye that Luxi had been firing at. The third shot wildly upward, clearly not behaving as well as it's mates.

After a moment, gravity caught up with the arrow, and it began to fall. It came to rest squarely in the middle of an extra target that was lying at the edge of the arena.

"Wooden bows are no good," Spooky said in his strong accent. "The wood is angry, and fights with you."

"Try this one," he said, selecting a Dunmer-made chitin bow from the rack.

Luxi was stunned at Spooky's archery skills.
She had never seen someone so good with a bow.
"Wow.."

Luxi took the bow from his hands. She immeditly felt the differance in wieght. The bow was much lighter then the wooden one.

She notched an arrow and aimed carefully.
She let go of the string, and the arrow hit the bull's eye.

"This bow is better then the wooden one." Luxi commented as she examined it more closely.

"You have the heart of a Khajiit," said the little man in his rolling accent.

"Not your eye," he said, pointing at her face, "or your hand," he said, touching the hand that held the bow with light fingers.

"That," he said, pointing to her heart, "is what you should use when you shoot."

A short time later, after everyone had gotten their armor and weapons, Loranna leads the party down to the Arena. Loranna found herself looking forward to today's bout with even greater enthusiasm than before; after touching Nalion's book, she had felt much like she had on the eve of Hogithum.

Things were falling into place now. The time was coming when all their work and suffering would either pay off, or they would fail and all would be lost. It was a sensation unlike any other.

He was a strange man.
What he said made sense.... in an odd way.

"Bye!" She said as he hurried off.
What a strange little man...

Luxi looked up at the crowd coming closer.
She put back the bow and sat down on a bench, hoping there was going to be a skrimish.

Raithen headed the way of the arena, no longer limping or using his staff a a walking stick. Upon arriving he said, " I'm feeling better, but now I am eager to watch the upcoming battle." An odd gleam reflected in his eyes--but only for a second.
"Yes, old age has it's disadvantages..." he chuckled.

Nalion eyed the new face curiously. "My greetings, Sir. I am called Nalion. May I ask for your name?"
He stretched out his arm towards the mage, then noticed that he still was clad in travel-stained clothes. Nalion shook his head which stirred his brown, shoulder-length hair and laughed. "These clothes surely don't make an excellent first impression."

Ahjaar and Terryn set off to the south.

They talked about alot of different things. Ahjaar found out that Terryn was, surprisingly, from Sothstheim. He had lived their untill he was 17, then he had moved to Vvardenfel. When Red Moutain exploded, he and his soon to be wife fled to Sothstheim to escape the lava, but the ship sunk, and his Fiance died.

They came upon the south shore, to the east was a cavern in the cliff.

Isidor stands in the Arena, axe in hand. He swings it a few times, to exercise his arms. He has a sort of fiendish grin on his face. He wanted to fight now. He needed to fight.

He turns to Goranthir.

two years ago, Blackmarsh

Rain... it was always rain... did it ever stop? the swamps of the blackmarsh consumed everything, and they were all tired... tired of adventuring, tired of each other, tired of the world. It had been several months since the party left, and they were finally near the end... the Seven Adventurers, Lord Landon and his six Paladans of Justice were huddled around a campfire, trying to keep it from going out. Oh, how he hated this place, landon thought to himself... the water was seeping into his armour, it was useless now... Issacs horse had run off and Arisa was being harrased by Paul. Cerius and Red were not talking to each other, and Elverere had a cold... Thunder struck behind them... if they did not leave now, they would not make the Bone Fortress before the storm worsened. They were nearing the end of thier adventure... Landon quietly ordered his Paladins to prepare to move out, an order they begrudgingly accepted.

At Cyndarius's words, Gruznob let out a horrible roar that echoed off of the hillsides, and sent up a racket from the nearby parrapton stable.

"Gonna be a [censored] [censored] slaughter, if you ask me," said Merey, taking a seat beside Nalion.

She was excited to see a fight, they were always fun.
Ahjaar and her would bet on who would be the last standing, and usally they would both got it wrong.

She hoped that one day she could fight in them too.

Luxi loved to fight, she got that from her father. She gained her speed and agility from her mother.
The combo made her a better warrior then most.

The only thing that bugged her was armor. It always slowed her down.
Ahjaar had told her that chainmail was good armor for her, and she had bought her a chain mail shirt, which she had on now.

Still smiling, Fernando said "Right, right.. To the task at hand." Shaking his head as if he still could not believe it, he muttered to himself. "Raithan! My word.."

His face turned serious as he activated the enchantment on his exquiste shirt and his form became encased in bound daedric armor. He activated his ring, a modified ring of equity without the reflect (more efficient use of charges) and made sure the remaining ring's constant effect shield was at full strength. Gruznob smiled even wider as the mage levitated from the rear lines. He raised one huge hand and pointed a claw-nailed finger at the enemy.

A pitifully small ball of fire, about the size of a peach, shot from his finger.

A split second later, it impacted with Fernando's spell, only a few feet from the the levitating mage's hand.

As the two colliding spells exploded, spreading the effects over Loranna's group, Gruznob roared, "FORWARD, BOYS!"

As one, the legionairres broke into an ordered trot, raising their huge shield s in front of them like a wall.

However, the wave of demoralizing and blinding magicka washed over him and he could feel his vision blurring, his nordic courage still held, though.
He tightened his grip on his axe, then charged in the wake of the Kynarine blast.
"Goranthir, charge.", he shouted, "Loranna, I need a dispel!"
While running towards the opponents, he prepared a forceful backhand slash from the lower left at Gruznob.

Goranthir was blind, however, from the reflection of Fernando's spell, and he felt panic welling up in him.

This is the darkness, where the creature Leseth lives, and the pale girl, who are coming ...

"No!" he cried, and used his belt to dispel the effects. It would only work on himself, he realized, as light and reason returned. He looked to the others to see if they were similarly effected. He might have to protect them all.

Raithen felt the heat of the blast, but it wasn't close enough to cause any (to-too much) damage. But he felt his vision dim a little.

He summoned up the small army of Lesser Daedra that he had made a pact with. There was a Hunger, a Dremora and an Ogrim. After being summoned, he sent the Daedra into the front lines to intersect with the advancing enemy. Raithen then disapeared again.

Gruznob had no idea what spell had detonated on the opposing team, but he was sure he wanted to take advantage of it quickly.

But then that wind... Hadn't seen that since Skyrim. He and the front line picked themselves up off of the ground. His shield had gotten ripped from his huge arm, and lay some yards away.

One of the heavily armored soldiers was bleeding, now.

"Steady on, man, daedra incoming," Gruznob said.

Behind him, Spooky had his face to the ground, whispering something to the dirt behind the huge orc and his shield wall.

Her footsteps light, causing them hard to track, she moved to the side to get a better angle. Several arrows flew towards Gruznob.

Loranna's dispel spell finally took effect and Isidor's vision cleared.
Seeing that Gruznob was pushing two Legionaires to the front, Isidor changed his target, but not his stance. Goranthir began making an almost silent chirping noise in the back of his throat.

Something in the woods behind the advancing soldiers answered. The sound of buzzing and the beat of tiny wings.

If the soldiers turned around, they would see they were sparrows. Simple, every day little birds.

But there were a hundred of them, heading for the rear of the squad.

Gruznob barely flinched as the arrows impacted his shoulder, even though one made it through his heavy armor to the thick shield of muscle beneath.

Finished with whatever he was saying to the earth, Spooky drew three, carefully selected shafts from his quiver and, in a replay of his earlier demonstration for Luxi, arced them over Gruznob's head.

Guided almost unnaturally, each found their mark, and with three bursts of bluish-white light, and a pop, three daedra ceased to exist in the mortal realm.

Raithen's fireball washed over the shields of the front line, bathing Gruznob's group in flames. Someone screamed. Then, each soldier flashed brightly as they activated their bracelets of healing.

"Hold here!" Gruznob shouted, and the group stopped, shields locked into place.

He drew his sword, and watched Isidor and Shai advance.

Loranna frowns as she sees the Daedra disappear, but she sees what Goranthir is trying to do and moves to take advantage of it.

Flicking out of sight for a brief moment, she uses her bracelet to rise up just enough to get a clear line of fire, and shoots a Demoralize Humanoid spell into the Legion soldiers rear ranks, to enhance the effect of the sparrows's distraction.

She hurriedly tries to get back to earth, not wanting to be a target.

Fernando was not a particularly agile man. But bound boots helped that. He had quietly drifted off to the right and now had a clear line of fire toward the legionaires, avoiding his own allies. Using one of his enchanted gloves, the red one, he fired a rather weak frostball before launching the real attack: The most powerful area effect absorb health he could dependably muster. The frostball should intercept any chicancery of the like that foiled his last attempt.

Posted by: Xyber02 Yesterday, 05:26 AM

Anya swore. "Blasted thick-skinned orcs!"

She reached into her second quiver, pulling out several enchanted arrows. She sent a few more towards Gruznob, two paralysis arrows and a fire arrow, and two area effect fire arrrows at Spooky. I need to be careful, I have limited reserves of these.

"Lotus, get you're lazy carcass over here."

Posted by: Nalion Yesterday, 05:28 AM

Isidor
Isidor saw that the legionaires were taking position and hiding behind their shields, yet Gruznob, the large Orc stood tall. With a battle cry on his lips, the towering Nord swung his battle axe upward to aim for his opponents head and arc over the shields of the legionaires.

Posted by: Aki Yesterday, 05:30 AM

Reichi rushed towards the Phalanx, hoping the Legionaires would successfully distracted enough for him to break through the defenses. With his Shortsword and Dagger his chances of breaking down the sheilds were about null, he had to get them to seperate enough to strike. When he reached melee Range he struck at the sheild with his Daedric shortsword, Bloodfang, in a attempt to bat away the sheild so he could get in a good strike with his Dagger.

Two years ago, The Bone Fortress, Blackmarsh

Death... it surrounded him. The best men and woman whom he could gather, his paladins were defeated... defeated by this one man. His teeth looked evil shaded against his black skin, his sword shone with fury... Landon drew his ebony broadsword and charged at the man

"why" Landon said to himself, his eyes still closed, "why am I remembering this?" He slowly pushed the bedding off him and looked out the window. As per curfew, there were few people on the streets, only the guards marched huddled in groups... he pulled down a ladder and walked to the roof, to find Maranda laying there looking at the stars
"Could not sleep, Maranda?" Landon asked as he lay next to her
"Not quite" Maranda replied "I have stuff to think about..." Maranda said, remembering a visit from Duke Drevious earlier that day... his message was clear, he had returned to Tarmiel, and she had to face him. Yes, the Archfiend had returned

Posted by: Rhedd Yesterday, 05:51 AM

Gruznob roared as Isidor's axe fell towards him. A huge green hand, as hard and leathery as a saddle, reached up and grabbed the long haft of the axe, just below the blade. Gruznob wrenched hard, threatening to pull the Nord over the shields and off his feet.

The legionairre to Gruznob's right took the opportunity to stab at the Nord's exposed armpit, as the one on his left turned his shield and raised it slightly, blocking the orc's huge form. The rain of incoming arrows pattered against its surface, but two of them exploded in a burst of flame which licked the shields and the armored men behind.

Just then, another spell hit, and the legion felt their life leeched from their bones. It was painful to be sure, but it would take more than that to fell them.

Spooky still on all fours, glanced under the raised shield and took aim, sending an arrow beneath the legionairre and into Reichi's leg.

The sounds of the birds caught Gruznob's ear just as he grabbed the axe. For a moment, he looked worried.

Another spell hit. He wasn't sure what it was, but he was suddenly very worried. Gruznob had been through a number of battles, but this one seemed to be going badly. He was sure that the others must be feeling the same. He could smell the fear of those next to him.

As the huge cloud of birds bore down on the arena, there was a sudden shift in the wind. A subtle breeze, nothing more, but even the helmeted warriors locked in battle felt it. It smelled like flowers, like fresh grass after the winter... It smelled like Springtime.

Suddenly, the birds were all chittering and singing, spiralling in daring swoops around each other, finding, in all the crowd of them, that special one that was irresistable, that perfect mate. Still singing and chirping, the great mass of them happily broke up and went their separate ways to do what all good birds do in springtime.

Spooky smiled, and whispered a thanks to the earth near his face.

But the happy birds were not the only thing in the air cutting through the musical twittering was another sound, like a ringing in the ears.

Without warning, from straight above and out of the noonday sun, a parrapton appeared. It dove straight for the ground at full speed, falling faster than things fall naturally.

At the last moment, it became apparent that it was not one of the familiar creatures from Daruhn's stable, but a thinner, waspier creature, glittering purple and black, its long, butterfly-colored wings buzzing wildly.

At the very last moment, the black-armored Dunmer on its back released his long, wickedly barbed lance and it fell like a lightning bolt at Loranna's chest.

Pulling out of the wild dive, the huge insect lowered it sharp, deadly hindquarters and struck the running mage, Fernando.

Four Years Ago, Alik'r Desert, Hammerfall

She was on her knees, as she watched the black robe man walk into the distance... but he was not a man... that she knew... she was weak, the battle had been long, and despite her name as a prodogy, she was defeated. "I want to be stronger" she said weakly, as a voice sounded in her head, "I can make you stronger..." she looked up, feeling her strenth returning to her body to look at the little girl that stood before her... "You can help me?" Maranda asked
"Yes I can" Meridia replied

*******************************

"And so he is back?" Maranda said
"Yes he is," Duke Drevious replied, leaning up against the wall. He had been visiting her alot recently, almost every day
"So, even though she said she'd help me she didn't"
"But she did"
"How?"
Drevious smiled... "She likes you, you know... she would not have gone through all of that if she did not think you had potential"
A slight wind blew through the allyway, and Drevious was gone

Posted by: raithen Yesterday, 05:59 AM

Raithen ran out of the cover of his allies, and cast an Armor Eater spell at Gruznob's men. Raithen then recast invisibility on himself, renewing the spell.

Posted by: Nalion Yesterday, 06:04 AM

Isidor
Isidor grinned into the face of the Orc. He had hoped that Gruznob would block his blow with his bare hand and tried hard to keep his balance. Then, he had finally regained his feet.
"Feel the icey breath of Skyrim...", he shouted, and then, a frost spell - birthright of every true Nord - crept up the hilt of the blade and towards Gruznob. To Isidor, the cold did nothing, as Nords did not care about ice.

However, his exposed armpit too the hit from a legionaire and pierced his armour and clothing.

Posted by: JustinSane Yesterday, 06:07 AM

Fernando was not pleased. His protective shield had taken the brunt of the physical impact and the bound cuirass had slowed the stinger, so he had not been skewered through. The impact had still sent his round form rolling, and poison was still painful. He didn't like getting involved in physical combat. That was usually a sign that battle was not going his way, he thought as he downed two potions: One restored health and cured poison. The second restored his magicka as its invisibility effect removed him from sight. "Try to hit me now, parrapton" he whispered within his mind as he pulled himself to his feet and tried to move as quickly as he could from where he had been when last seen.

Posted by: Tri Yesterday, 06:09 AM

Taking advantage of the situation, Shai hoped to coordinate her attack with Gruznob's temporary shock, if Isidor's plan succeeded. She literally bounded lightly onto Isidor's thick back and sprang off. She hoped that because Gruznob was currently parrying Isidor, his hands could not stop her too. Descending, she moved to plant her foot in his back and the heel of her hand in his neck, what could prove to be a knockout blow, or at least extreme pain.

Falco sat on the benches watching the fight, although he cared not what was happening. His worst memory had been shown to him again, and to all of the others. They won't want to travel with a murderer. I should leave them now. He stodd from the bench and walked off down the main street of Ald Raathim, intent on no longer holding the group back with his presence. He entered the woods nearby.

Reichi fell, the arrow stuck firmly into his netch greaves, and in his flesh. "Little N'wah," he cursed, drawing something from his boot, from his prone position he could sight the Bosmer Archer. He flung the two steel throwing knives at Spooky before grabbing his weapons hauling himself back to his feet.

Goranthir stares in helpless horror as Loranna gets skewered, a cry of pain erupting from her lips. The parrapton came and went before he can even react.

"Anya, shoot that Bosmer," he says, turning to see if Loranna needs help, even as he begins making clicking and howling noises.

Loranna, however, was staggering, but not falling; Slyvos's ring nd her own weakened regen potions were helping her stay up; she says "I'm okay ... damn, we should try that later."

Gruznob was the easiest target to aim for; timing her spell, she whispers "Give me your strength, dear," and casts an Absorb Strength and Burden spell at the mighty orc warrior.

"Goranthir, help Fernando," Loranna says, and the young mer nods, already moving.

"It's not that," Tris said. "It's the crowds. You can't imagine until you've done it..."

He was interrupted by a flash of light.

Well, not light exactly. A flash of white.

The sky was white, from horizon to horizon, featureless and strange. It was almost impossible to look at it.

On the battlefield, the fighers found themselves slipping, tripping, and falling. The good earth beneath them was also doing something strange. It was featureless as a platter. The grass was gone, the clods of earth were gone, the hills and rises were gone.

It lasted only a moment. Then everything was as it had been a moment before. A Dunmer girl in the stands screamed; then as quickly as she had cried out, she decided nothing had happened. Nothing could have happened.

The winds rose, the clouds darkened, as if the sky felt the need to reassert its authority. It began to rain, driving torrential rain.

Tris, who had leaped to his feet, then fallen, picked himself up and wiped the mud from his elbows.

"That's not good," he said. "Not good at all."

The people of Ald Raathim had for the most part already forgotten. But not the fighters in the Arena.

"We do not know! but the Imperial Guard seems to have been slain Captian Marova!" the soldier yelled
The party of battlemages and night blades made thier way past the carnage on the route to the dungeons... they had to save the emperor!

Opening his eyes from that terrible, terrible night all those years ago... it still seemed like only yesterday. Daggerfall harbour was quiet... a ship was anchored off the coast, but had not done anything for the past few days. Cerius thought this strange, and despratly wanted to investigate the vessel... pitty he could not swim... he cast charmelion quickly as a gaggle of guards wandered past. Cyndarius was on his feet instantly. "Gruznob! Stand down!"

Gruznob already had, however. His frozen arm hung limply at his side as he stared, face upturned in the rain, at the sky that wasn't there a moment ago. He barely realized he'd just been kicked in the back of his bull-like neck.

The parrapton rider had already dismounted, long raven hair and a girlish face showing as she removed her helmet, and was helping Loranna remove the spear and heal her wounds.

"What in the [censored] [censored] was that?" Merey asked, presumably of Nalion.

Diamond gasped. "What just happened?" she asked, bewildered.

Straightening the crown on her head, she stumbled towards the others. The fight was clearly off. Years of ingrained training told her to hold back on strong language except at a tense position at a negotiation, and then only for intentional dramatic intent. This wasn't enough, in the situation, to hold her back.

"Damnit," she muttered.

Marein: That's not strong language, Diamond...but I must agree with you. Damnit!

"Nothing that's going to cause anyone any permanent harm," she tells Luxi.  "We won't let it ..."

Softly, she hums a little song she learned as a child to Luxi, weaving a small calm effect into her voice.  Her eyes half shut, her tearstreaks glistening.

*

"She's a child, but she's not that young a child," Tris said. "Besides, we're all children in the face of this. Luxi, that was the Nine Divines taking a little break for a moment. That'w what we're getting ready to go and fix, that's what the practice is all for."

Softly, she hums a little song she learned as a child to Luxi, weaving a small calm effect into her voice.  Her eyes shut halfway, her tearstreaks glistening.

*

"But wha-" the calm spell's effect stopped her in mid sentance.

"Wha-.... That was sooo weird..."

Luxi shook her head, trying to shake away the spell's effect.
"What happened, exactly?"
The calm spell obviously didn't keep her from being curious.

"I didn't know breaks last 2 seconds." she said wide eyed.
She closed her eyes for a moment, then reopened them.
"I know whats happening here."
Luxi motioned towards the castle. "Everyone is going up. We should too."

Loranna stops using the calm spell, and smiles at Luxi, her face looking even more lovely with the tears glistening on her cheeks.

"You're a storng girl, Luxi; I wish I had half that strength when I was your age," she says, kissing the girl gently on the forehead. "Let's go; we'll dry off and warm up inside, and get ourselves together again."

She stands, and offers Luxi her hand.

"From now on, we watch the skies as well as the field," she says. " ... And learn to count too," she adds, laughing a little.

"My Demoralize didn't seem to have as much of an effect as I would have hoped, though," she adds, frowning. "Makes me wonder how much use that spell will be Outside - these were warriors with decades of experience, and they kept ranks. How much can my spell then do to warriors with milenia of experience?"

Goran," Loranna says gently, "Hogithum is only a few months gone. This isn't quite old hat for me yet."

She smiles a bit. "When Hogithum was approaching, I was filled with worry, didn't think I was strong enough to help make a difference, feared Azura was going to end up destroying us all and Nirn with us. And I talked with Allie, and she told me how she lived through the end of the last age, when people thought the world was going to end as well. But it didn't. It could have, maybe, but it didn't."

She shakes her head. "Since then, I've had faith that no matter how bad things get, no matter how much I grumble and worry and fret ... things will eventually get better. With my help, however little it may end up being. With my friends' help, with the help of new heroes and new friends."

"We will get through this," she says. "When we're on the firey plains, you'll see; I can feel it."

Loranna walks in silence; she had doubted too, though not quite as much. But then, Allie was much better at dispelling doubt than she was.

... We're coming soon Allie, Loranna tells herself. ... I and my friends will see you, soon.

After the moment they had all shared today, any other outcome would simply be unacceptable.

"That's an improvement," Loranna says, chuckling. "Okay ... silly idea; suppose we had me, Raithen, maybe even Anya invisible to start off and taking positions to either side, our main force with Daedra perhaps in the center. We on the flanks start off with a few volleys, use Recall to snap back to behind our own lines when people turn to start returning fire, then our warriors pick out an easy-looking target to cut down? Or, hopefully, a vital target like their healer?"

"There's a point at which weakening the other team ceases to be useful... such as when your own team is in the way," Tris said. "You notice the other team all took small amounts of damage, then they all healed, using minor items. That's never going to work, healing is too easy. You have to do more damage than the healers can handle at once, spikes of damage, enough to make them lose control of the situation."

Now he tells me, Loranna thinks to herself.

"All right; initial debuffs, then focus on either helping drain one target down while the boys slice it to pieces or else throwing up more buffs, unless someone needs a dispel like what happened today," she says, pausing and frowning.

"Yes, that was a nice trick," Tris said. "I feel sure the people we'll be facing will have thought of using spells at detonators. It's tricky to do without training; you have to see the other person start to cast and basically anticipate them. But the people we'll be facing do have training.

"As for hexing... the purpose of hexing is to keep your own people from being sliced to ribbons while they do their job. It's up to you to figure out the balance, on the fly."

He smiled. "If I seem a lot more educated, it's because I spent several hours last night in Dragon's favorite tavern in Daggerfall city, talking to retired veterans and Arena afficianados. There are experts at everything in this world; all you have to do is find them and talk to them."

Anya was fustrated, she took pride in her skills, and spent weeks of almost none-stop training to get her marksmanship back in shape. She was more fustrated at herself that she was outdone with the bow by that curious Bosmer that came with the Legionnaires

Remembering Loranna syaing something about getting trainers,, she swallowed her pride and decided to seek him out. After asking several of his comrades, she learned that after recovering a bit, he left for a group of mongroves near the beach.

Out of habit, she approached with soft footsteps only Bosmer could achieve. She stopped at the edge of the trees, realizing that he might not like it if someone tried to sneak up on him, though she was sure we would have noticed her anyway.

"Spooky? Do you have a moment? My name is Anya, I was wondering if you could help me..."

"Daggerfall is a day away for most of us," Loranna mutters. "Blasted inderdict ... well, we have Cyndarius and his men to talk to, and given the way Anya was letting loose with the arrows, maybe we should consider timing our spells so she's keeping people dodging while we're throwing the big bad really shouldn't be detonated spells."

" ... You know, most of this seems a lot easier when we did it before - hell, I have spells designed to hex and buff all in one," she says, mostly to herself.

"I still think trying to divide the enemy's attention is worth trying out," she says. "It should be easier to pick a vulnerable target if the other team's trying to deal with attacks from two fronts at once. You know, kinda like what we did, when you came up from behind while I was casting from in front."

"To those questions, I have one answer," Spooky said. "That does not happen."

Smiling what he hoped was a charming smile to a female, he continued, "That is the difference between you and me.

"I will teach you, if you like, but it will not be on an archery range. It will take time... more time than you have, and to speak to the world where you are going is to speak to a stranger in a foreign land. I do not know if it would listen."

He truly hoped she understood (He had been told that sometimes girls didn't.) and that she would say yes. Wouldn't Fox be surprised when he returned with the tale of speaking at great length to a female!

His black eyes betrayed him. But to what, she didn't know, she just knew something interested him as well. Sometimes I wish I did grow up in Valenwood. Sometimes it seemed she was only Bosmer in face, and face alone.

She smiled. The smile she often used when trying to 'persuade' a shop owner or politician, hoping to at least unnerve this Bosmer, "I'd love too."

Spooky blushed a few shades of red and brown before motioning to the girl to follow him into the dripping mangrove forest.

Overhead, the sky continued to release it's fury upon the earth. Beneath the heavy old trees, however, it was a distant roar.

There were so many things Ddeuilwyll wanted to show her. He wasn't sure where to begin.

"We need as much practice as we can,"  Tris said. "Maybe going over tactics with Diamond's miniatures, if people aren't up to a practice. As for the wedding... well, it's another act of faith isn't it?  Two bloodlines joined together, a new family, moving forward into the future. So let's RSVP."

"I’ll go to the wedding with you, Tris," Goranthir said, still not smiling. "I’ve never been to High Rock, though … Is Daggerfall near Wayrest?"

Anya dropped down behind him. Watching his slight agitation, guessing he was flipping through his knowledge, she though to her self, Looks like I'll need to go to the Library before the nights done.

She was eager to see what she could learn before the day's end.

"Not far, out on the end of the peninsula," Tris said. "The weather's the same, anyway, but the wine is worse."

He smiled, studying Goranthir. You know we're just whistling in the dark, he wanted to say. We don't take this lightly, not at all.

But Goranthir probably knew that about him, having held the book earlier. What a thought.

Goranthir looked at Tris. 'That's good. I'd like to pay a call on my dear Aunt while we're in the neighborhood, and see what she has to say for herself.'

Tris opened his mouth, but it took a moment to find the right words.

"Her majesty Elysana," he said - he always used proper titles, when referring to members of Goranthir's family, to his face - "I don't know, Goran. She seems heartless, yes. But there's so much fear there, a great ocean of things to be afraid of, and she's like someone living in a city under the water level watching the dike for cracks. I don't think it's possible even to guess what went on in that family."

He caught himself. 'That family' was Goranthir's inheritance.

Goranthir finally smiled. It was his mother’s smile, his grandmother’s smile, his uncle’s smile, and curiously enough, they had no blood in common, his aunt Elysana’s smile. "I can guess. And I know what she did to you ... I should go get changed."

Goranthir left quickly, but Tris could see the determination in his eyes.

Shaka sat in his room for a moment. The moment when the world had strobed white had sobered him, with the others, and he knew the seriousness of the situation. But part of him wished he hadn't touched the book. It felt like a violation, like spilling his guts to all the other adventurers some drunken night in a tavern, only far more completely. And he had never wanted to know as much about the others as he had been shown.

I'll have to have faith that it was necessary, he thought.

He couldn't shake the worry that Anya would dislike him now, with such knowledge. But at the same time, his problems didn't matter compared to the crack in reality they were charged with healing.

Isidor trugged back to the castle, with the rest of the group. He was still seething, but glad he had almost bested the Orc.

The Archive
Part II

The one chosen to find the scribe happened to be a mage and he found that the scribe's whereabouts were unknown, his path could not be found and no one could tell how he looked like. The mage's mind was troubled and the solution far. So he took his mantle and with the help of a ritual, the mage was able to see the scribe's face and name. Thus, he would know who to seek, yet not know where the scribe put his steps.

The mage called upon his trusted apprentice and taught him the ritual as well and sent him out on a journey to find the scribe, for the mage himself had many things to prepare still by himself. For the protection of the apprentice, the mage put a golem to his side to guard him from evil. So, the apprentice, being taught the ritual to recognize the scribe, and the strong golem looked into the world.

Long the search was and arduous, without hints where to find the scribe. The apprentice and the ever vigilant golem looked over high mountains and deep valleys and the wide and never-tiring oceans, seeking for clues and comparing the face and name the ritual showed them with endless amounts of men and mer, they did not find the one they sought.

Great was their disappointment and their despair, until they found a scribe busy with noting all that he experienced. As the apprentice compared the name and face with the ritual's given image and the golem nodded that they were safe, they were jubilant for they had finally found the one they sought. And thus, they laid before him their sorrows and the scribe listened to them and said.

"See, I record the story of this world since the dawn and will continue so until the end of times. There is much to record and so much work to do. Tell your master that he shall seek me out and plead his case, and I will consider your request."

Having accomplished as much as was possible at this time, the apprentice returned with the ritual and the golem to their master's quarters and found him anxious to hear their story. After they had completed the tale, the mage set out on the journey...

"Eh ... I'd just as soon get in as much actual practice as I can, myself," Loranna says.  "I believe wit hall my heart we're going to succeed, but all the same, I'd like to lessen the amount of pain we're going to have to endure as much as possible.  Tomorrow we dscuss focused fire, I figure out when to switch functions on the fly, we toss up the idea of keeping a coupe people hidden in reserve for a lightning blitz like that parrapton did, and we give it another go as soon as we can.  Next time the world unravels ... something might not come back when it re-establishes itself.  Something important."

Luxi was silent during the whole discussion.
Mostly because the conversation did not concern her, and mostly because she was lost in thought.
But she spoke now.

"I don't think everything came back this time, Loranna."

Completely oblivious to the goings on of those around him, a new conciousness was born. As he woke in his hut he looked upon the body he had been granted.

"Who am I," he spoke aloud, "What is this place?"

He rose and went to the door. He could hear some one on the other side.......
