In the previous installment of this thread, Loranna's Dunmer
stand in was swiftly murdered by the assasin known only as Left Hand - but
Loranna appeared on the scene as soon as Left Hand left, thus presenting the Dunmer
with the apparent rebirth of their Incarnate. This miracle completed, the
procession has showered Loranan with gifts, money, devotion ... and requests to
create a new temple, or take control of Ghostgate, or something.
Elsewhere, Kasha learns the truth of her lover Dur'el's background - from
Dur'el himself, or rather a previous incarnation of him. With time running out,
Dur'el and his companions prepare for what promises to be the Redguard's
greatest battle.
Allie and Arynel check in on B and meet the leader of the Psijics, and Tris and
Ciel continue their journey, Tris going through some changes ...
As always, mirc irc.ChatSpike.net channel #Loranna_RP is our official chatroom
for the event. Everyone who plays is welcomed and encouraged to join the chat
so that we may discuss plot developments and swap jokes about our characters
Those who can't get into the chatroom are encouraged to PM Loranna about any
plot ideas or scene-effecting actions they have in mind; I will try to answer
you with all possible speed.
Part Fourteen begins ...

Issa finishes loading the last of the crates onto the carts.
"Whew! I'm doing an awful lot for a bunch of people I just met. Still,
there is something about that Loranna. She is Azura. What does that mean? The
last time this happened was the Dagoth Ur Crisis. What does this all
mean?"
(OOC: Yay! First post!)

Summary:
At the end of our last installment, Allerleirauh spoke to the Buoyant Armigers,
reminding them that their loyalty is to Lord Vivec himself, not to Azura or
even the
Dragon, Skein, and Mirea remain at the Void Ranger Guildhouse in Daggerfall.
Tris has a new artificial limb, courtesy of the
Doll remains at Ghostgate with the main party, keeping an eye on things.

Summary for Loranna:
Loranna has had her skin turned ashen colored for transgressing against Azura
by paying honest homage at the Fields of Kummu. She has recently effected a
'miraclous' rebirth when the assasin Left Hand struck down Aricyn's Azura Stand
In, and has been given devotion by the procession for her flashy entrence, as
well as offers of crops and plenty of coins. She's trying to figure out what to
do next, given the calls for a new temple and the trials she knows lie ahead.
===
"Thanks again," Loranna says, storing the now emply vial. " ...
So, four down, three to go - and Maranda and the Moon Riever still unaccounted
for, and King Helseth still having no reason to love me."
She looks over the mostly quiet crowd and mutters " ... And practically a
small town's worth of people following along ..."

Summary-
Dar'Var is still high and drunk off his spotted owl as always. Hes in a cart
somewhere smoking skooma.
Reichi was helping load the carts. But thats all done now ^-^
Meanwhile in Vivec, Tarenen is waiting with the hunters that serve under him
for Loranna to arrive.
So they're prolly playing poker or something in the meantime.
-----------------------------------
Reichi took a seat on the ashy ground. Looking at the sky. "Huh...lesse,
if we leave within a few days, and maintain a good pace..we could reach Vivec
by the time both moons are full.." he mumbled.
Meanwhile, from one of the carts rose a smoky white cloud as Dar'Var continued
smoking his Skooma. He had about one more vial left befor ehe was out.

QUOTE(Solin @ Dec 30 2004, 01:25 AM)
Ciel handled the prosthetisis with care. It was of impressive
workmanship without the illusion.
"Perhaps," Ciel began cracking a light smile, "But she has a
good eye."
The Breton couldn't help but think of the coincidence himself, the barefoot
saint, a gift from Dibella, and the young man across from him. It was
a match... and a great loss.
"It's even clumsier than the crutches, although the man who fitted it said
I'll get used to moving in it. And I haven't mastered the trick of getting it
on properly," Tris said, wrestling with the broad leather band that held
the artificial limb to his leg. "But... I'll be able to wear a whole pair
of shoes again. And strangers in the street will assume I have a sprained
ankle, not a tragic story to tell."
The symbols on the ivory shimmered, then flashed with green light, and the
illusion was renewed. Tris set his foot carefully on the ground and stood up.
"Ah - I think I still need the crutches, at least for today. But I'm going
to get dressed now. And then we're going to find a nice tavern and have that
meal I promised you in Elinhir. Ought to be an adventure walking back on this
new leg, drunk as a lord."
He grinned. But although his mouth smiled, his grey-green eyes were shadowed.
They would not be going to the Rat's Satchel, where Tris's friends hung out,
trading gossip and arranging races. Not now. Maybe not ever.

A strange glint caught Shardie's eye… in a barrel in the corner,
along with a number of other odd looking weapons a strange sword sat. As Shardie
pulled the sword from the barrel, the Dunmer "Merchant" if you could
call him that, spoke, 'Ah, that is a good choice, its previous owner… a member
of House Indoril, actually, I am not sure of the make, or even if it is from
Tarmel. Akavri design I think, but I am not sure what it is made of…'
Shardie looked down the blade, it was White… not pure white, but a sort of
Gold-White… if one could say that… It was very light, but rather sturdy… she
could not see a magical shine to the blade, obviously telling her it was not
enchanted.
'How much?' Shardie asked, this Katana was much better than her old ebony blade
'100,000 gold…' replied the Dunmer
'100,000 gold? How can I pay for that?'
'With gold… or if you really want the weapon, you could perhaps do a little
task for me… I'll throw in an Ebony Mace to seal the deal…'
''What do you want done…'
'Apparently a Scamp in Caldera holds a fortune in gold and other rare items…'
'Oh, no, I am not killing Creeper!' Shardie said
'Hmm… then take this note to the Morag Torg… you'll have to find them yourself,
though'
Shardie looked at the note, 'I, the Mysterious Dunmer "Merchant"
request a writ on the head of a certain Scamp by the name of Creeper…'

QUOTE(Arynel @ Dec 30 2004, 02:30 AM)
"Why should the Dunmer worship a her?" Arynel asked.
"What right does she have to treat them as such, obeying her every
command, worshipping the ground she walks on? Why can she not let them
be?"
"Let me say this plainly... Who? Cares?
"'Let them be'? Let them be WHAT? Useless? They've been that for far too
long already. Like I said, this isn't about them.
"You're quick to pass judgement. What do you call judgement that isn't
based on fact? I don't know, but there's got to be some fancy word for
it..."

Summary:
Solin the Dunmeri sorcerer is late of the companionship of Arynel, a Breton
Bard, and Allerleirauh of Solunastra. He sits at Ghostgate. His travels through
and to the Clockwork-City of Sotha Sil left his mind frayed and tattered. He is
often given to wandering thoughts and dreams on occasion (not so much now) of a
great mechanism which he must somehow correct. Every now and then he will smile
and laugh as if the world and everything in it was his private joke. He is a
strange mer but has good friends.
Ciel a Breton knight, believed dead for most concerning parties travels with
Tris, a young man who saved his life when the broken knight decided that the
Queen was not worth dispensing his duty to others, both living and dead. He
both admires and grieves for his companion.
Liris, another lord of High Rock, accompanies Loranna everywhere he can. Once
assumed to be a pawn of the queen of Wayrest this power hungry Breton has
declared himself to be Loranna's servant renouncing his ties to Wayrest.

"I know this." Arynel began. "Azura is a daedra, and should be
in Oblivion right now."
The Breton paused, searching for words.
"I know that Vivec bound her to the mundus, and shattered her spirit. I do
not know why he did this, other than revenge for his fallen companions. Whether
he intended to or not, though, he has given Azura a chance to understand the
world from the mortal viewpoint. That is the one thread in this that could go
well, though it may not. In any case, the Nord-demon has not given anything of
value to the Dunmer, and has caused more destruction than I care to
contemplate. Let this by done, let Azura return to Oblivion, and Loranna to
whatever tavern she chooses, I do not care."

Yojimbo rests after lifting overly heavy crates. He sits down on
a cart and thinks about his life.
Azura told him he was held prophecy honed to razor's edge. "What the hell
did that mean?", he thought. His mysterious sword, marked with
ever-changing glyphs tied to the Elder Scrolls themselves, was truly the stuff
of prophecy, but he was clearly out of his proverbial league. Plus, there was
the matter of his dreams.
In his dream, he was chained to the ground in front of a Winged Twilight.
Suddenly, thousands of poisonous darts fell from the sky, piercing him over and
over. Then, he was surrounded by leaves. That is when he awoke.
"Maybe Loranna will know."
But then, he glances to the group already speaking to Loranna, and the
thousands of worshippers waiting.
Then he saw a figure apart from the rest of the crowd. A hooded, sinister
figure. Very sinister.

"Look, boy, I know you and Allerleirauh scheme, and I know your opinions
about Loranna, so I'll say this plainly, too; You do what you want about your

Phyrdalion sat down next to the sleeping Mharakin. He picked up
his sword and looked over it. "I think this should work." Phyrdalion
muttered to himself. He held the sword in front of him and whispered a few
daedric words. The sword instantly morphed into a long, slender blade. He
whispered a few more and the sword morphed into a scimitar. "Interesting."
Phyrdalion said, wrapping Chrysamere once more in its cloth. He placed the
blade on the ground next to him, and leaned back on his hands looking up at the
stars. One of his mentors in the cult had taught him how to divine the flows of
magicka by looking at the stars, but Morrowind's stars were far different from
those of Cyrodiil. He began unstrapping his armor, and musing on the events of
the day.

'Hmm…' said the Morag Torg agent, 'I am afraid we do not deal
with Daedra… ' he tried to hide the smile from his face, 'let alone… a Scamp…'
the Agent could not hold it in any more, and fell to the floor, bursting out in
laughter, gaining the attention of the other partons of the tavern. Shardie was
rather embarrassed at this, and wondered why the Merchant asked him to do such
a thing… but sitting, giggling whilst hiding behind a copy of the Complete
Sermons of Vivec was the Mysterious Dunmer Merchant. Shardie moved over to the
table and sat opposite to him
'I am sorry, young Redguard, but I just had to do it… here,' he handed the
sword to her, 'only 20,000 gold..'
Shardie placed the money over the counter, and received the second part of the
deal, an Ebony Mace
'I hope to do business with you again, Young Redguard…'
'As with you, mysterious Dunmer Merchant…' Shardie said, leaving the Tavern,
sheathing the sword, and hanging her mace off her belt… she returned to the
Puzzle Canal… to find about five Royal Guards cramped into the Shrine, around a
map of the Temple Canton… she returned to beside Krazzt, and tried once more to
discover where he kept the swords he receved…

of hide awnings was empty but for small clouds of dust and ash stirred by the

"The young Bosmer who would devour me?" he whispered as a jesting,
"Yes."
He sat up right again.
"I missed seeing you at New Life in the guild hall," he said,
"What have you been up to, young mage?"

The time in-between time…
Many years had pasted, for Dur’el, in the time it took a bird to fly from one
tree to another.
Dur’el had long since begun training under his older self. When Dur’el asked
the old Redguard how he had learned of the old ways of the Sword-Singers, the
aged Redguard told him a story, of how the very, first Dur’el that was sent to
the in-between times wasn’t alone. Another that didn’t belong in their time was
here. And he taught him and gave him a scroll, which Dur’el was reading from
now, The Book of Circles.
In addition, Allimar spent his time eating and learning healing magicka spells.
Meanwhile Kasha’s headaches were getting worst by the years. Kasha knew Dur’el
knew something, but he wouldn’t tell her. And she kept asking him how he could
live for over a thousand years, but he always brushed her off. She would find
out the answer to both questions sooner or later she thought to herself.
Dur’el kept training and time continued to fly by.

she can read my mind, then I must learn to have no mind."
She leaned her head against his shoulder briefly. "I missed New Life too.

"Do not feel to bad, I returned to my home," Solin continued,

"Duly noted," Loranna says dryly. "Trust me
on this one though dear - it was probably for the best, given what I did, that
I went off on my own to do it - but at this point I've been told my path lies
at the head of this procession."
She smiled at the passing Ashlander, though Aricyn might notice a slight look
of unease in Loranna's face.
"Well, no harm done. It worked out fine on this end, all things
considered.
"Our mystery assassin didn't get you, at least, although something's going
to have to be done about that little problem. I suspect he'll learn of his
mistake very soon, and be back.
"About this money for a temple, by the way, it wouldn't be a bad idea, but
I think it's a bit premature."

"I imagine that shadow would be after what Vehk did to
Azura," Solin laughed, "It is strange, that it would subside when so
much worship is being directed to the Prince."
He smiled flashing his teeth for all the world to see.
"So that's when her skin became covered in ash?"
"You're handsome when you smile," the child said, not like a
compliment, but critically, as if she were appraising his market value.
"Your teeth are younger than your skin. Yes, that's when Azura cursed her,
and spoke to her, and left her shaking. She's been obedient ever since. But
Azura was her last friend and now she has no one. That's why she clings to that
dead creature, the lich. She still has a Nord's hair, though. I wish she'd take
better care of her hair, it's so dry anyway and this weather is terrible for
it."
Doll put a hand over her mouth and giggled. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to
be so boring."

Bosriel had fed. A drunken prostitute slouched against the corner of a building
in Mournhold had suddenly felt her life drain from her, mercifully quickly.
With Leseth, she had tried to find their patron, Elysana. But the Queen was
still over water, unavailable to meet.
So they stayed in the Void outside of the palace and waited.

Helseth had made the arrangements for his troops to ambush Elysana when she
landed in Morrowind and was now travelling to the Palace basement.
Strapped to a blood stained table was Tirin, one of Helseth's councelors. The
King smiled at the look of utter panic on his vicitm's face.
"Tirin. I am very disapointed in you. You could have hid the fact that you
were working for Elysana a little better. It would have made it more fun finding
out. Lucky for you, I have plans elsewhere, so this will be much shorter than
what it should be. However, I don't want any information from you - torturing
you will be purely for my pleasure."

chamber. They finally stopped an hour later when Helseth finished the job.

“Where are you to meet them?” asked her sage Vonnod.
“They told Ryvad,” the Queen said, referring to her spymaster, “That they would

“Doesn’t it make you nervous, being in your stepbrother’s kingdom like this?”
Elysana laughed girlishly. “The number of times I’ve slipped in and out of this

Tel Dres, Morrowind
The Queen of Wayrest wore a heavy dark cloak, and her small band of guards were
similarly disguised as they wound their way through the streets of the city.
They needn’t have bothered. No one was on the streets who might’ve recognized
them – no one was on the streets at all.
“A quiet town,” said her sage Vonnod, a little nervously. “Perhaps they’re all
still recovering from New Life …”
Elysana said nothing in reply. When they reached the gate of the palace, she
rapped on the door. It didn’t open, but she could hear armored footsteps in the
street behind her, and she knew a trap when she saw one. She had set up enough
of them herself.
“Helseth,” she said to no one. “You’ve learned a thing or two about
manipulating your enemy, haven’t you.’
Vonnod fainted when the King’s guards took him. Elysana merely smiled sweetly.

The time in-between time…
Time passed as quickly, as rain drops in a storm, but the only one who seemed
to be getting older was Dur’el’s older self. Kasha, Dur’el, and Allimar looked
like they hadn’t aged at all.
Dur’el stood, sweating, and exhausted, out in the desolate, crimson smoked
field, which he hated. His older self had told him the field builds character,
makes you stronger, but he also reluctantly said the field would also drive you
mad, if you stayed more then two hours in it.
“Come on, concentrate. Close your eyes and envision the sword.” The aged
Redguard proclaims.
“I can’t.” Dur’el utters dropping down, and putting his hands on his knees.
“Something troubles you. What is it?” The Redguard inquires.
Dur’el reluctantly replies. “Why are you the only one aging? Why won’t you let
me tell Kasha her fate? There are many things you haven’t told me, and many
things you won’t let me tell, why?”
“I see you’ve had this bottled up for sometime now.” The old man says with an
unconvincing, smirk. “I’m ageing because your fate can’t begin until mine ends,
and you know why Kasha, and Allimar aren’t.”
“Kasha at least deserves to know.” Dur’el says through gasping breaths.
The old Redguard sighs. “What would that do? Make her worry for the remaining
time she has left? There’s nothing you can do to stop it, so leave it alone.
The Bosmer will die in your fight, and Kasha will have gone mad from the
headaches, long before then. It’s already written, it’s never been changed, and
it can’t be changed. Let them live out the remainder of their life in peace,
not worry. Now back to training, I don’t have long left in this plain.”
Dur’el bites back tears and continues training.

In Relativity, matter tells space-time how to curve, and space time tells

Yojimbo's sword told relativity to go get a quick snack.
The Dunmer found himself falling toward High Fane at rapid speed. Shortly
afterwards, he found himself falling toward High Fane at rapid speed,
and decided that panicing was the wrong thing to do.
Reaching into his satchel, he found his Amulet of Slowfall, and used it
promptly.
"This sword has a mind of it's own, it seems. It never seems to take me
where I want to go. For example, I would have enjoyed a nice rest with some...company...at
Desele's House in Suran, but nooo..."
Issa decides to head over to the arena or foreign quarter. Anywhere far from
the Temple.
Once again, the glyphs changed.
"Something...isn't right. Maybe I shouldn't be here..."

It was a strange procession, a White Robed Breton Girl, a
Redguard with a strange sword and five Red Armoured Royal Guards… The
Ordanators reluctantly made way for the small party as it headed towards the
nearby cantons to scout out positions for the Royal Guards to hide and ambush
from. Entering the St. Delyn Canton, the party made their way to the top, where
a sympathetic Priest recognised Maranda, and invited them into the chapel for
meed and kwama eggs
'The Heretic has desecrated the Tribunal far enough, and the Hierarchy does
little to stop it, no, even encourages it… what has become of this Nation?' The
Priest said, still discusted by the Archcannons orders… the rumours had spread
through the temple, even if it had not officially been announced, 'You and your
people are welcome to use our Shrine to rest anytime in your wait for the
Parade lead by the Heretic, Loranna to arrive… we can even help with the
capturing of her…'
'It does not matter,' Maranda said, looking around at the strange assortment of
people in the chapel, 'I do not wish to sacrifice any more innocent life than
necessary, and not bloody this Sacred City any more…

Nalion emerges from the Tower of Dusk, where he had a rather
rough sleep, cramped between two Dunmer, without a blanket or pillows. All
rooms had been full, some of them wer used by more than one person.
Even if he had the money to pay to clear and rent a room while demands was
high, he was unlikely to get one. Though he kept a low profile and tried to
hide the fact he was a Telvanni Retainer, it was very unlikely he would get a
room at all at Ghostgate, where Temple Ordinators, Buoyant Armigers and House Redoran
members resided...
"At least I got out of the ash and under a roof." he mutters,
stifling a yawn. He looks a bitt scruffy, with his once new blue robe now
wrinkled and his brown hair dishevelled. He straightens himself and his clothes
as good as he could, then walks off to search for a bowl of water.

A clangor of hammering, chatting, and the sounds of general
labor began to rise above the ambient noise of the camping followers. The
gathering Solin noticed was growing around the small fortress. Folk of all
races were beginning to work at the towers. There were scraps of wood here and
there and men and mer were working them. Where they had managed to salvage the
material from was a mystery but it was there and doubtless more would come.
Craftsmen were being called with hides, paints, and dyes. There was scuffling
between the guardians of the fortress and the workmen but the shear number of
followers was oppressive. Work was beginning.

The Inner Sea, Morrowind
Elysana had been separated from her guards and her sage Vonnod. They might have
been alive or dead. She was alone, in chains, in the hold of a ship sailing
across the sea.
Throughout it all, she kept smiling.
“Are your chains too tight, milady?” asked one of the younger guards.
“No, my dear,” she sighed and gave him a wink. “I’ve felt tighter. Can you tell
me where we’re going?”
“I don’t know if I’m supposed to,” he said. “But I suppose it won’t do no harm.
You’ll know soon enough. Vivec.”
“Oh, good,” the Queen of Wayrest said. “I haven’t been there before. This
should be very educational.”

The time in-between time…
Time had been harsh to the old Redguard, and he had spent his whole life in a
cruel, irregular, time-bending world, as had the many before him. Even though
he was in a place time had hid him, no one can hide from death. The old
Redguard lay on the ground, in the cave he’d called home for incalculable
years, waiting on death, encircled by Kasha, Dur’el, and Allimar.
“My time on this plain is at an end. I feel it.” The Redguard said with slow,
irregular, breaths. “I pray to the Gods that I have taught you enough to
finally get us free of this blight. I curse Molag wherever he is now. I pray
that you don't die like me, alone and laying on a cold cave floor.” The
Redguard takes a hefty, deep breath and continues.
“I’m going to leave you with this last bit of knowledge. It was never told to
me, so that means you’re the first to hear it, but I wish to the Gods someone
had told what I'm about to say to me. It might have helped me and I wouldn't be
dying like this…” The old man then trails off like he falling asleep.
“Take your time.” Dur’el pronounces, concerned.
“Remember this young one… You don’t have to beat him... just make sure you
win.” The aged man suddenly begins to cough profusely. After his coughing spell
he collects himself. “Now, I’m going to take a nap… just a short one. Just a
short little nap…”
Dur’el’s older self closed his eyes, and never opened them again.

From her vantage point, it is interesting that while most of
Loranna/Azura's followers are Dunmer, it is actually a surprisingly
multicultural group. Bretons and Imperials are working on the structure,
together with Orcs, Redguards, Argonians, Khajiit, Altmer, Bosmer, and, yes,
more than a few Nords.
"Sorry about that," says one of the Nords to the Dunmer working next
to him. "You know, we Nords tend to drink too much sometimes."
The majority of the Dunmer looked at her with hostility, however. And
many drew their weapons.
A voice like thunder rolled down the valley, shaking stones loose from the top
of Red Mountain.
"HEAR THE MOCKING WORDS OF THE ANCIENT ENEMY OF YOUR PEOPLE! HEAR HER WHEN
SHE LAUGHS AT WHAT YOU DO! REJOICE! YOU, OH DUNMER, KNOW THAT AN ENEMY THAT IS
PLEASED WITH YOUR ACTIONS STAYS STILL, WHILE ONE DISPLEASED MOCKS YOU AND
DRIVES YOU TO A DIFFERENT PATH!"

"B'Vek," said one of the Dunmer, before clapping his hand over his
mouth. That oath was just a force of habit. 'I mean, by Azura ... you can
hardly hear the hammering with all the shouting going on.'

Allerleirauh had seeded the crowd. She had been waiting to see
if any of the Armigers would dare to speak. One, low, rumbling voice cut
through the hysteria of the crowd.
"I served in these towers for 100 years," the Buoyant Armiger said.
"The Temple said they should stand forever as a monument to those who died
here."
She was unafraid of anything they might cast at her. Let them try. She had yet
to see the magic that could harm her faster than her alchemy could heal her.
The only thing she feared was Aricyn's thu'um, and even then she could duck
into the Void.

Loranna glares at Allie, finding herself thinking something she
never thought she'd ever think:
What idiocy is she trying to pull here?
Loranna speaks up, her voice reaching everyone's ear despite her not quite
having Allie's powerful lungs.
"Shall you all forget the Pride in yourselves celebrated earlier, that
you'll let one silver-haired northerner's words drive you to rage? She rants
and raves because she sees something she cannot stand; let her yell herself
silly until she turns blue in the face. In the end, it's just empty air."
Allie hears Loranna's voice in her mind - angry, and with a hint of pain.
Just what the blazes is this going to do? You see something stupid and you
decide to start a riot - what the heck are you using for brains right now?

The crowd echoed this back.
It is impossible to tell who did what in the crowd, as massive as it is, but a

Seeing himself die brought up a lot of strange and confusing emotions, that
can’t even be put into words. Dur’el sat down next to his older self and wept.
He wept for Kasha, for Allimar, for himself, and for his future. He knew after
this was over he had to focus completely on fixing the wrong done to him, or he
would end up dead on a cave floor.

sorry, ooc: I'm outta here for the night. If anyone wants to
play 'The Crowd,' go ahead. My 'mass motivation' was that if you get a bunch of
worshippers in a location, and hang around without giving them anything else to
do, and some of them start making the place into a temple, they're all going to
join in. And a floating Nord woman insulting them, and a few guards aren't
going to dissuade them. So, do with it what you will, with my blessing.

The Buoyant Armigers glanced at each other. Selling their lives
dearly wasn't what they had planned to do today. And neither was fighting their
own people. But they didn't mind fighting Ashlanders.
The Redorans fought the Outlanders. The Ordinators and Imperials fought the
crowd. Soon there was a seething riot going on. But it died quickly, because
the crowd had been thoroughly seeded by Elysana. The native Houses found
themselves outnumbered in their own territory.
Still, blood had been shed. Enough blood that the founding of Azura's new
temple would be remembered as a day of battle and confusion. Already the
myth-makers were at work to say they had cast out the weak and cast down the
heretic, but the people who worked to build the temple now built with an
entirely different attitude. Most were unclear about what, exactly, had
happened. All had heard Aricyn's shout about the loyalty test; not all had
believed or understood it.

be carried to take the load from the assorted Dunmer; all before finally taking
a deserved rest*
*When he wakes, he finds the camp slightly disorganized, but nothing overly
odd; all while hearing speak of Redorans*
"Great...and I thought Indarys had pledged to try to sway the
council..." Erenius mutters, disgusted at Redoran 'honesty' and 'honor'.
"If I ever find a need to use a House Dunmer for anything, Banden Indarys
shall be the first one I use...followed by his councilmen, and then the
remnants of the Temple..."
*Regardless, Erenius pushes such musings from his mind as he goes over the tallly,
noting a swell of almost five-hundred additional people from his last tally*
"So, that makes just over thirty-nine-hundred followers, excluding those
following since the very beginning through Skyrim," Erenius says, making
the final tallies in his log-book.

Red Mountain
Arynel lay weeping, his hands sunk into the ash on the hard ground beneath him.
Where his tears fell, tiny rivers carved through the ash.
"I lament, for the world is not well." The Breton said, his face red
and his hair tangled. "There is the blasphemy of the fallen Daedra, of the
monster that houses her! And then there is this, all of this, how I lament! The
Nord is a beast and called Arycin and called savage! How I lament, for the world
is not at ease! And now these people unravel! The Dunmer destroy themselves!
And of what strength is my hand in this? Of what pool do I drink to end this?
My heart cannot let me keep my hand still, nay, my hand cannot be still after
what my eyes have seen!"
Arynel pushes himself off of the ground, and looks up towards the sky.
"I swear by my life and by my soul and by my feet. I swear as the path
doth lead and the road doth run. Til the earth meets the sky and the mountain
the sea I will not cease in my labor. I make of myself a servant, I take upon
my girth the shackles of slavery. My heart has been torn from the wrongness of
this, and my soul bound for the plight of a cursed people."
He fell to his knees, and then collapsed in the ash.

“He is waking,” said the voice of a small girl.
B’s eyes opened and his gaze met that of one of his young pupils. “How long

“You have been in a coma for over a week, and lessons have not been the same

Smiling slightly B replied, “I’m glad I was missed. I’ll be good as new in a

The young student frowned. “Yes, you must rest, but Loremaster Celarus will

And with that, B closed his eyes.

“My Lord,” said Dres Gaor, joining him. His head was bandaged, evidently from
the scuffle. “I have been looking for you. I know that the Goddess did not
expressly give permission to make these Towers into a temple to her glory, and
I would not like you to think that I encouraged their construction. It was an
outpouring of love from her worshippers, and I hope she will be pleased.”
He pointed towards the Towers which were still being worked on. Above the
parapets were permanently cast spells of light which illuminated the sky with
an ever-changing blend of pinks, blues, and purples, sunset and sunrise
captured.
“That, I have to admit, was my idea,” the Dunmer said modestly. “The colors of

There was nothing else she could do. And precious little chance of any of it
making any difference. She moved her hands, and recalled into the Tower of
Dusk.
Later ...
As it turned out, Loranna didn't get much chance to do anything; guards loyal to
Azura surounded her and kept her apart from the battle, and Allie's assesment
of what Loranna would do forgot to account for SnowHawk. Remembering how much
death came simply from her whispering into the ears of children to be playful
and mention her name, Loranna held back from trying to pacify the crowd
directly and the din of the riot was more than her voice could overcome. So she
stood apart, armored men and mer hemming her in to keep her safe from any blade
or bolt or spell, and watched as everyone tore into each other.
And while the riot seethed for its short life, Loranna heard Azura's voice,
meant for her ears alone:
From this point forward, Incarnate, thou must embrace the
destiny before thee, lest it leave you broken and failed as the ghosts in the
Cavern of the Incarnate. Walk the true path as revealed to thee and thou shalt
have the strength and wisdom to act rightly.
Azura's voice was serene, pure, godlike, but Loranna felt the anger and
disappointment that the words themselves did not explicitly say. Azura had been
content up till now to simply act when at a shrine to demonstrate her power;
after the events of the last few days, however ...
Loranna wiped tears from her eyes, feeling sickened at how quickly the Dunmer
had been willing to attack each other, at how Allerleirauh had been willing to
incite them to kill one another rather than let them worship Azura, at the
impetuousness of trying to rebuild Ghostgate into a Temple when she hadn't even
said she was wanting that, at ... at ...
... everything?
Am I even a monster? she wondered. Surely a monster would understand
things better than I am right now; I feel so ... alien ...
Wasn't life precious? Was it worth killing people for an overabundance of
enthusiasm and a lack of foresight? Hadn't she herself been condemned and
vilified for causing death and destruction?
What was the difference between the death she caused and the death brought
about tonight? That she had caused death in Azura's service while tonight was
caused to oppose Azura's plans? ... To fulfill Vivec's dreams for his people,
at any cost? Even if his people didn't all seem to want to follow his dreams?
Suddenly, humility was starting to feel more like humiliation - either that, or
people were really, really ... broken. Broken but broken in such a way that the
whole system somehow lumbered on, and to try fixing things would only cause it
all to come crashing down ...
Loranna sighed. She wasn't fulfilling her destiny as Incarnate by dwelling on
these thoughts. She had agreed to see this through, she was carrying Sen-Yedda,
and Azura was closer to finally returning to Oblivion and resuming her throne
in Moonshadow ...
... and like she had told Aricyn, if it wasn't done through Loranna's flesh, it
would be done through another's. Better one Incarnate get destroyed fulfilling
this destiny than two, or three, of ten.

When Dagoth got like this, Loranna usually smiled; it was cute when he acted
all devoted and worshipful. Seeing Lord Dres Gaor act in a similar fashion
inspires ... different responses in Loranna.
Still, she made herself smile; Azura was pleased at the show of devotion, the
people here did need someplace to stay, and the people had chosen to do
this on their own - after all their work and the riot, to simply dismiss their
efforts seemed needlessly cruel.
... She finds herself wondering how Allie or Arynel would pontificate on how
this decision just proved her to be a bigger monster than ever.
"It is lovely; the Dusk and Dawn is pleased," Loranna says, nodding.
"Let it stand for now and shelter the faithful; we shall see what the
future has in store for this place - the permanent transformation to Azura's
new Temple or the harbinger of an even greater ediface elsewhere."

Nalion could only shake his head. House members against
commoners, comrades-in-arms against those they should protect, but fanatists
all. He sits alone on a stone halfway up the western slope of the Foyada
Mamaea, arms laying weak upon his knees, shoulders sagged, disheartened. The
call to awaken had been sound, heard, misunderstood and been used as a reason
for bloodshed.
Mountain that is fiery red,
Dominates horizon far,
The Dunmer on its slopes have bled,
Forsaking what they truly are.
The Breton pulls another piece of parchment out of his pocket and writes some
lines. He rolls both, the parchment and the report he had been writing earlier,
together and seals it with a small piece of dreugh wax he always carried with
him.
His mark spell is quickly cast, followed by an Almsivi Intervention spell that
brings the Breton mage to the Temple compound of Ald'rhun. He can feel the
suspicious stares that were shot at him from the Redoran guards patrolling the
streets. The Breton quickly moves over the plaza and enteres the local Mages
guild. Approaching the guild guide and handing her some coins, he is quickly
teleported to Wolverine Hall.
Sadrith Mora:
The Breton mage leaves the Imperial Fort with quick strides, passes the
cornerclub and enteres Sadrith Mora. A short while after, guards open the gates
of Tel Naga Tower, letting him in. The majordomo of the Tower looks startled
and astonished as Nalion approaches and gives him the letter he had written
earlier.
"Deliver this to Reynel Uvirith in Tel Uvirith with all possible speed!
This is urgent! It is for his eyes only." Nalion says harshly. The
majordomo flinches and nods.
"Yes, Serjo, I will send this letter immediately." came the response.
"Good, if the letter is not delivered, I will hold you responsible."

"It is lovely; the Dusk and Dawn is pleased," Loranna
says, nodding. "Let it stand for now and shelter the faithful; we
shall see what the future has in store for this place - the permanent
transformation to Azura's new Temple or the harbinger of an even greater
ediface elsewhere."
“Thank you for your blessing, Mother Goddess,” said Lord Dres Gaor, still on
his knees, eyes on the ground. “We hope only to serve you and proclaim your
name to all. I know your journey has not ended, and that you will lead us on,
but I pray here and elsewhere we can keep permanent remembrances and shrines to
this great time. If you inspect the interior, you will see artisans are already
creating tapestries and icons to represent the return of Azura. The blessing at
Gnisis, the monster of the cave, the holy dinner at Balmora … All will be
remembered, this I swear.”

Loranna represses a smirk and a giggle at the thought of a dinner in which the

"I see," Loranna says, smiling a little. "Perhaps you could

There was a haze.
Then light.
Then understanding.
Arynel's eyes opened, and he lifted himself off of the ground.
"There is much to do." The Breton thought aloud. "First I must
go get something. She may be there, waiting in the void. I have sworn my life
to this deed already, if my life is drained from me and I whither like so many
a tree during a drought, then let it be so. My life has already been offered
up, to return to me at what time I complete my task."
He whispered a string of power
He fell below the ash
And rose above the euphoria of misapprehension.

The holy feast in Balmora was, of course, phantasmagorical. Not only were the

The 20 yards, perhaps a slight measure more, that seperated
Azrael from his newly spotted destination seemed, to weary eyes, a great deal
more. His lips were chapped, throat parched, having run low on water shortly
after the strider his gold has comandeered dropped him into the foyada. In the
distance, from which direction he could not tell, came a series of low rumbles,
indistinguishable in his clouded mind, barely audible anymore. To this Dunmer,
nothing mattered more than reaching the Ghostgate, at that point. How he had
suddenly turned from a healthy energetic mode to his now drab, shabby look, and
sob, emotionless facial expression, was beyond his fatigued comprehension.
A fair few minutes passed, and the idle feet of Azrael had made their way to
the road before the towers of Dawn and Dusk. Refusing to think before moving,
he chose to head to the western tower, whose name he could not identify, for
his thirst overtook his sense of direction.
"Why have I become so thirsty?" he thought to himself, the light
dimming in the sky, as he entered the tower, "This is not natural--I have
been in countless worse situations, and have yet to feel effects such as these
from so short a journey."
Azrael would have continued his train of thought, but the cool air of the tower
hit his face in full force upon entering. The temperature seemed nearly
perfect, and though it did little to rejuvenate him, it did allow for him to
move at a slightly quickened pace to find the nearest source of water.
Still a tad disoriented, he began to wander about the halls. . .

Issa Yojimbo has been mindlessly wandering around Vivec for the
past several hours, thinking of Azura's words, his sword's actions, and the

He had also been seeing things. He thought he was straining under madness.
People appearing out of nowhere, then walking through walls. Entire landscapes
disappearing, being replaced by something stranger, then reappearing.
"Maybe I should get back to Ghostgate."
He begins to spin and twirl his sword, humming and focusing on the glyphs. He
disappears behind a curtain of Reality.
Normally, he would end up in a location near to his destination, but quite a

This time, he felt himself falling through an icy blackness. Then, he saw a
face that would haunt his dreams for a long time. He blinked once, and saw

Daggerfall, Solunastra:
Within the mundane guildhouse in Daggerfall, Allerleirauh was talking to Dragon
and Skein. Mirea sat fidgeting at the end of the table.
"You shouldn't have lost your temper," Skein said. "You are too
powerful, you draw powerful people to you, and powerful people oppose you.
Loranna has destiny on her side. Which means, idiotic and undirected as she may
be, all powers near her will tend to strengthen her course."
"What is the solution then?" Allerleirauh said. "I cannot simply
walk away. Besides, I have sworn."
"You swore to preserve the Dunmer people," Dragon said. "Perhaps
these are not the Dunmer people. Or, I mean, they won't be when Loranna's
through with them."
"Yes," Skein said. "You were right about one thing, they are
going backwards. To be the Changed Ones is to be rebels - from imprisonment to
greater freedom. From the frying pan to the fire, some might say. But it's a
course which moves in a direction. The Altmer followed the Aedra; the Chimer
followed the Daedra; then they followed gods chosen from among themselves. The
next step is freedom, as Vehk tried to show them. If they worship Azura in an
increase of order, not liberty, they are no longer what they have been. Perhaps
their skin will change again; perhaps they will take a new name."
"I wish I were Dunmer," Allerleirauh said. "I would speak
to them with wise words, I would comfort their hearts. But a Nord speaking to
them can only hope to rouse anger."
"You would fail, in any case," Skein said.
Allerleirauh changed the subject. "Dragon. Any luck in the task I gave
you?"
"You might call her a Void Vampire," Dragon said. "I felt her
touch. I know her as well as anyone can. I think I understand what she is,
though not how she became that way. It's anyone's guess how she became that
way. I am doing research, studying paths through the Void, but it takes time.
And it's dangerous right now. I wish I could talk to Leseth."
"When I meet Leseth next I will whip him like a dog," Allerleirauh
said. "Then, if he can explain himself well, I may let him live. Mirea. I
have a task for you, if you are not afraid."
"I'm not afraid of anything except thunderstorms," Mirea said.
"And that's only because I hate getting wet."
"The Void is as dangerous as it ever was. But I need my spies. That was
not a natural crowd, someone paid those people to be there. I need to know
who."
Mirea grinned hugely. "So the leash is off?"
"The leash is off. Be careful."
"Oh, I will be. The little girl with the spooky eyes better watch out for
me."
"It remains to be seen," Allerleirauh said, "Whether Loranna
will want me near her, after this. Although she needs me as a bodyguard. Some
very powerful enemies want her dead. I hope no grave harm comes of my returning
to her; that foolish lich thinks he can oppose me, as if I have not spit on the
dust of a hundred liches. I would hate to destroy him; he is unique."
She rose, and the others also rose. Allerleirauh embraced Mirea, who shrugged
out of her grasp like a child being hugged in front of strangers.

magicka suspended in the air before him. The Breton's skin was drained of color
and his clothes were wet with sweat. From his eyes came blood red tears, each
finding their way down his cheeks.
The Breton reached out a trembling hand towards a thread...
There was a jolt and he was knocked to the ground, the magicka-wheel wavered,
but righted itself.
Arynel took in a deep breath, tiny drops of blood began to seep out of the
pores in his skin. He picked up the sword, clutching it in his hands.
The Breton clenched his teeth, and lifted the sword into the air, blade down.
He slammed the sword into the center of the magicka-wheel, and there was a
convulsion and a shattering. A reaction to an action and each multiplying the
other in all aspects. A hideous consumation of a chaotic matrimony.
There was a riviting episode matched by a shattering climax. The magicka-wheel
contorted and folded in over the blade, surrounding it by glowing threads of
Aetherius, and seeping into it's form.
The world slammed back to rightness, and Arynel collapsed.

Dragon looked at her blankly. But Skein had gone rigid, staring at some tiny
creature that crawled along one of the cracks of the table, almost too tiny to
be seen.
Allerleirauh rose and entered the true Solunastra. It had grown, since she had
last seen it. The tree arched over her head. There were flowers in the grass.
And the foundations of something that looked like a palace had been laid.
Arynel lay beneath the tree, very still and pale. She bent over him, already
reaching in her pocket for a vial of healing potion.

A mobile of swirling spheres
A woman dusting off an apple, and handing it to
her young son
A man reaching his hand into the sea, and drawing out a scared old woman
A mobile of swirling spheres
A young boy screaming as a worm eats its way out
from inside his stomach
A wrinkled old vampire draining a man of his strength and life
The Breton lay unmoving beneath the tree.

"Arynel, what are you doing?" Allerleirauh called. She was afraid.
Yet it was almost impossible to be afraid, here. She didn't want to stop him,
if he was in control of the situation. Yet it was so difficult to know when he
was in control. She suspected that he rarely knew himself.
She knew the names of the flowers in the garden. This flower was for strength,
this one for courage, this one would make you greatly beloved.
Have faith, little heart of my heart. We cannot see the ends of our actions.
But we can be true to our own hearts.

(THE VOID:)
Something small, flat, and bright caught the attention of Leseth's red eye.
It was an envelope. In the world, it was carefully and intentionally wedged
between two stairsteps. In the Void, it hung motionless.
He pulled it free and opened it. The letter inside was written carefully, and
was to him. He read it carefully, and then showed it to Bosriel.

*Erenius walked back to his little shelter, but a tent, a fire,
amongst other trinkets found about a small camp*
"Thank you," Erenius says, as a Dunmer hands him a plate of hot scrib
jerkey, some hound meat, and a few forkfuls of kwama egg.
*Plate in hand, Erenius returns to his camp and eats his meal, returning the
plate when he was finished, thanking those that gave it to him*
"Seems like anyone doing anything here is of quite a bit of status,"
Erenius says as he sits on his bench, trying to stay warm due to the general
cold of the night, despite being relatively close to the exposed lava at Dagoth
Ur's summit. "And its rather cold"
*With that, Erenius takes a cloak from his supplies and wraps it around him,
suprised his belongings kept him comfortably warm while tracking across Skyrim
while being insufficient at the base of a semi-active volcano*

As the procession goes about it's normal activities, Dagoth
floats somewhere on the edge of the crowd, hidden by magic.
'Ah the ignorance and faith of the Dunmer. It is...... sickening to say the
least, but it is this weakness that shall help Loranna free herself of Azura.
And if we can find a loophole in the prophecies, or in the way they are
interpreted, then perhaps things might end happily for her. That...... is all
that matters to me, her being happy.'
And so Dagoth continues to endure the raging thoughts of the crowd all at one
time, finding nothing but an dark emptiness, with a single warming presence
within.

The Breton let the blade drop, and it's tip landed on the ground. The hilt he
still held in his hands. He opened his mouth, a million words on his tongue,
and none on his teeth.
"Continue." Arynel said at last. "Is there anything else?"

Among the stuff discarded from the ghostgate when it was being
made into the new temple by the followers was the Werelioness-skin rug. Dar'Var
found it and took it, grinning happily.
"Heh, i got a trophy. Didn't have to skin it either. Stupid Dunmer."
he muttered to himsel, then curled up in a cart and went to sleep.
Reichi meanwhile took the lull in activety to practice his skill with
shortblades. He stood on the ashen ground, swing and slashing about with the
Dagger of Senses and the Daedric shortblade. One in each hand.
The swords must become a extention of your body. They must become like
claws, like fangs... he thought to himself. Remebering his old lessons with
a Shortblade.
He noticed a odd lump on the ground and stopped. He knelt down and brushed the
ash off it. "Oh..thats where that went.." he mumbled, looking at the
heart. Aside from the Dunmer Stand-in for Loranna being the only person he knew
having their heart ripped out recently, it stank of her scent.
"...wonder if that means the assassin knows...prolly.."

(RED MOUNTAIN:)
Aricyn walked slowly through the growing Temple of Azura.
Dunmer are like ants, he thought. The things they could build in a short time
were just stunning. Usually stunningly ugly, but stunning nonetheless.
Alone he walked by the tapestries, one by one. The workmen were taking a break
nearby. He found himself just slightly disappointed that none of them showed a
tall, white-haired fellow in them.
He was just going to have a small word with the artists when he noticed one
light-colored tapestry near the end. In the top corner it showed Loranna, the
only black thing in the picture. She pointed downward towards what was
obviously a depiction of Skyrim made by someone who had never been there.
Following her finger, an enormous, wolf-headed monster filled the white sky,
his mouth open and the wind of his breath rushing downwards to tear apart all
of the tiny, carefully stitched cities of Skyrim.
Aricyn chuckled coldly. "See that, old man?" he said, holding his
sheathed sword out in front of him. "I bet you're proud, eh?"
Leaving the temple, his face brightened a bit. "I want to see THAT,"
he said to the old wolf at his side, "hanging in a gallery in the Imperial
Palace."
"Grworf," said the wolf.
Aricyn laughed.

Tel Uvirith, Upper Tower
The servant left with a bow, backing through the door. Reynel Uvirith, Lord of
Tel Uvirith looked at the parchment the servant had just brought. The seal on
it was unbroken. The wizard eyed the parchment curiously, then grabbed a small
dagger from the table and broke the seal.
He took the larger parchment first and read through the writing, it was clearly
written out in the field and not in a chamber with a desk and chair. It was a
report from Nalion Leoriane on the so called Incarnate Azura and the recent
events surrounding her pilgrimage. Of course, word of this had spread even in
Telvanni territory but there was no detailed report until now.
The other, smaller letter attracted the wizard more though and he began to
read...
QUOTE
To Telvan Reynel Uvirith, Lord of Tel Uvirith
written on Turdas, 30th of Evening Star by Nalion Leoriane, Retainer of Great
House Telvanni
Greetings, Serjo,
With this letter you have received my report on the so-called Incarnate of
Azura, the Nord Loranna. The recent events enclosed in this report brought me
to a point where I have to choose a path to tread that will lead me to an
unknown fate. The choice is my own and I do not wish it to cast a shadow on my
House. I do hereby regretfully resign my post and affiliation with Great House
Telvanni. The duties I was entrusted shall pass unto the care of a more
appropriate person than myself.
May the new year bring good tidings,
Nalion Leoriane
A bitter smile appeared on the face of the wizard. He directs a spell of
telekinesis to a small gong, ringing it. The servant appeared immediately.
"Spread the word that Nalion Leoriane, former Retainer of Great House Telvanni
is to be expelled from our halls. No Telvanni may offer him service and help,
and see that his hospitality papers are to be confiscated as soon as he enters
Telvanni Territory.
Search for a capable alchemist and enchanter to succeed him in his shop. If
there are personal belongings, put them in a chest and store them in the
cellars. Now, leave me."

*Erenius sighs*
"Well, get up, and sleep elsewhere," Erenius says roughly as he opens
the side gate and tosses Dar'Var from it. "There should be a spare bedroll
nearby, and if that doesnt work, stop by at my little shelter nearby and I'll
give you a blanket and spare roll."
Posted by: Aki Dec 31 2004, 05:47 AM
Dar'var mumbled a curse in khajiit and tossed a empty bottle of Skooma
at Erenius before running off, leaving a visible dust cloud. The enchanmentts
on his armor still worked rather well and he was out of sight within secounds.
Only to sneak back into camp later.
Posted by: FireMaster Dec 31 2004, 05:48 AM
"Least he's gone...for now," Erenius mumbles, cursing
Khajiiti and their Skooma-induced laziness as he kicks the bottle away, towards
a Dunmer addict who opens the bottle, finding nothing; to the addict's dismay.

QUOTE(Arynel @ Dec 30 2004, 10:27 PM)
Arynel appeared next to Allerleirauh, holding the sword in his
hands.
The Breton looked to Dragon and Skein, but said nothing.
Daggerfall, Solunastra Guild House, training hall:
Dragon's method of sword training was unorthodox, but exciting. "Half the
trouble with learning to use a sword is not being able to practice on real
people. So you don't know what to do the first time your sword sticks in a
man's arm, you get rattled the first time someone hurts you and you see the
color of your own blood. Plus you don't get to use a good sword and your real
equipment, because somebody might get hurt. We work around that. Thanks to our
good General and her amazing skills in alchemy."
"No need to flatter me, Dragon," Allerleirauh said, smiling.
"What happens," Dragon said, "Is that you drink this potion.
You'll heal faster than anyone can possibly hurt you, with a few exceptions. So
does she. And then you both go for each other as best you can. We're not using
that thing you have there, I have no idea what that does. Set it down. This one
is a similar length and heft." He handed Arynel a sword very similar to
the one Loranna had given him.
Allerleirauh lifted, not her usual sword, but a silver broadsword.
Dragon showed Arynel how to grip the blade, how to stand.
"I wish we had Tris here," Dragon said. "He could have used the
practice. He's fast enough but too squeamish about taking blows."
"He's probably learned a few things, since we last saw him,"
Allerleirauh said darkly.
"No doubt. General, go easy on the boy. He can't learn if you bat his
sword right out of his hand. Now, go."

Issa stumbles through the crowd, looking for a familiar face,
hanging on the edge of sanity. Its seems he was at the wrong place at the wrong
time. Raising his sword in the air, he screams aloud
"SOMEBODY HELP ME!!"
He was half-hoping for a dramatic silence and then for the crowd to turn to
him, but hardly anyone even glanced at him.
Then, he spots Reichi performing a shortblade kata, and decides to head over to
that direction.

"This might sound weird, but I think I'm suffering from culture-shock.
I've lived on Vvardenfel as long as I can remember, and I've seen some pretty
weird stuff. But nothing like what's been going on recently. Loranna said I
held some kind of prophecy, but there seem to be powers at work here that I've
never seen."
Yojimbo begins to twirl and juggle his blade around, and electric energy sparks
all around it.
"But I have a feeling that I'm going to need this in the near future. I
saw something on my way to Gnisis..."
He catches the sword and the air around him crackles.
"...that freaked me out, man. It seems like the only people who know

Arynel clenched his teeth and went towards Allerleirauh.
The Breton swung his sword towards the silver haired Nord.
Allerleirauh blocked his blow, sending his sword tip into the ground.
"Very nice - you attacked me, not my sword. Many beginners attack with
blows that would never hit even if you didn't block them."
"Use the impact when she parries," Dragon said. "Let it carry
your blade around for another blow."
On the second flurry, she didn't block, but let his attack land just above her
knee. Arynel could see bone, but only for an eyeblink, before it healed.
"I let you have that one so you'll know not to be afraid of hurting
me," she said.
They fought for the better part of an hour, with periodic stops while Dragon
explained something about technique.
"You may be good someday," Dragon said. "You don't run backward,
like a lot of beginners. You have adequate reflexes and a good eye. And those
are things that can be increased with alchemy."
"He's a little rash," Allerleirauh said.
"Sometimes the best ones are," Dragon replied. "Now, General, let's
show the boy some fighting."
Dragon hefted his own sword, which was a broadsword of Dwemer manufacture, and
she dropped her blade and drew her massive claymore.
Any frustration he might have felt during the past hour of taking punishment at
Allerleirauh's hands was somewhat abated by watching her take punishment from
Dragon. The two Nords laughed; blood fountained high into the air, then was
drawn back into flesh by magic. Heads were cleaved then made whole.
"That time I got you, Dragon!" Allerleirauh said, laughing.
"So you did. I'm a tired old man. Shall we go wash off?"
