We seem to be at an impasse, then.
Odahviing
Indeed. Orin brit ro. I cannot leave here until you defeat Alduin, which you cannot do without my help.
(while I contemplate what to do with the captive Odahviing, Farengar approaches the red dragon)
Farengar
Incredible! Uh... sir, you have no idea how long I have waited for such an opportunity!
I would be most appreciative if you would permit me to perform some, ah, tests on you. Purely in the interests of the advancement of knowledge.
Odahviing
Begone, mage. Do not test my promise to the Dovahkiin.
Farengar
I assure you, you will not even notice me. Most of them are hardly painful at all to a large dragon such as yourself.
Surely you wouldn't miss a few scales... or a small amount of blood...
Odahviing
Joor mey! What are you doing back there?
Yol...Toor...Shul!
Jarl Balgruuf the Greater
Farengar! Enough, fool!
(Farengar runs off. Slightly amused, I approach Odahviing to give him my verdict)
Odahviing
You have reconsidered my offer, hmm? Onikaan kron?
You will release me - ro laan - if in return I promise to take you to Skuldafn and stop helping Alduin?
Player
I'm still wondering if I can trust you.
Odahviing
Zu'u ni tahrodiis. It was you that lured me here and took me prisoner... vobalaan grahmindol. I have done nothing to earn your distrust.
Player
You did try to trick me into letting you go.
Odahviing
Hin aar, orin nu. And yet here I am, still your prisoner.
Player
Yes. I'll set you free if you promise to take me to Skuldafn.
Odahviing
Onikaan koraav gein miraad. It is wise to recognize when you only have one choice.
And you can trust me. Zu'u ni tahrodiis. Alduin has proven himself unworthy to rule. I go my own way now.
Free me, and I will carry you to Skuldafn.
(I approach the guard manning the chains of the giant yoke)
Whiterun Guard
I can't believe that worked!
Player
Open the trap.
Whiterun Guard
You sure about that? You want to let that dragon loose after all the trouble to catch him in there?
Player
Yes, I'm sure.
Whiterun Guard
Your funeral. Someone else is gonna have to help you get him back in there again.
Get ready to open the trap!
This seems like a really bad idea to me.
Jarl Balgruuf the Greater
Carry on, soldier. This is all part of the Dragonborn's plan.
(with Balgruuf's reassurance, the guardsmen lift the yoke from Odahviing, freeing him)
Irileth
By all the gods...
Odahviing
Faas nu, zini dein ruthi ahst vaal.
(Odaviing turns and heads for the lip of the porch. He stops just short, waiting for me)
Saraan uth - I await your command, as promised. Are you ready to see the world as only a dovah can?
Player
I'm ready. Take me to Skuldafn.
Odahviing
Zok brit uth! I warn you, once you've flown the skies of Keizaal, your envy of the dov will only increase.
(I climb atop Odahviing's neck, just behind his horns. In a moment, we're off, Odahviing flapping his enormous wings as we rapidly leave Whiterun behind)
Amativ! Mu bo kotin stinselok.
Irileth
(watching us go)
You're either the bravest person I've ever met, or the biggest fool.
Jarl Balgruuf the Greater
May Kynareth guard you while you pass through her realm!
(Some time later, after a thrilling flight through the sky, Odahviing lands me at the entrance of the immense Nordic ruin Skuldafn)
Odahviing
This is far as I can take you. Krif voth ahkrin. I will look for your return, or Alduin's.
Player
(Odahviing takes his leave. Its time for me to prove my mettle to Odahviing and all the others. I make my way through Skuldafn, fighting off Alduin's loyal kin and their many draugr servants. Eventually, I reach the pinacle of the ruin. There I find a great portal, with light reaching into the sky. This must be the portal to Sovngarde)
Nahkriin
Zu'u uth nall thurri dein daar miiraak.
Player
(the portal is guarded by a powerful dragon priest named Nahkriin. Nahkriin wields a staff that is required to open the portal, and when I approach Nahkriin removes the staff from its pedestal and closes the portal. I slay him and claim both his mask and his staff, which I use to open the portal to Sovngarde once again. Then, without hesitation, I jump into the torrent of light)
