Uriel VII, Septim

Author:
Xan

The Emperor of Tamriel, and liege lord of all of the kings and queens of the land. His forebearer, Tiber Septim, conquered the continent more than four hundred years ago, ushering in the 3rd era of history. He took the throne in 3E 368. He is the 24th Emperor of the Septim dynasty. Uriel VII has been, for the most part, a strong and effective ruler, but harsh and unyielding in personality, and private and secretive by nature, he has never been popular with the people. He has declared heirs, Geldall Septim, and the younger Septims, Enman and Ebel.

At 3E 389, his former trusted Battlemage, Jagar Tharn captured and imprisoned him in Oblivion. The mysterious champion of Ria Silmane (the former apprentice of Jagar Tharn) defeated Jagar Tharn in 3E 399 and restored Uriel VII to his throne. The champion is declared as the Eternal Champion by Uriel VII.

At 3E 405, Uriel VII sent his agent to Iliac Bay to investigate the death of Uriel's former friend, King Lysandus of Daggerfall and also to track the letter previously sent by Uriel VII to the queen of Daggerfall. The agent finally unearthed the truth behind Lysandus' death. The quest to track the missing letter led the agent to the recovery of Numidium, an ancient powerful Dwemer Construct.

In the later years of his reign, he sent another mysterious agent to the island of Vvardenfell in Morrowind Province to uncover the truth about the Sixth House of the Dunmer and the Nerevarine Prophecy. The agent fulfilled the Nerevarine Prophecy and became the Nerevarine. He destroyed the Sixth House and their leader Dagoth Ur.

In 3E 433, Uriel VII and his heirs are assassinated by a daedric cult of Mehrunes Dagon. Martin, son of Uriel VII and the last of the Septim, tried to restore the Empire, but the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon crossed the weakened barrier between realms and invaded the mortal realm by himself. Martin sacrificed his life and managed to summon the Avatar of Akatosh. The Avatar of Akatosh defeated Mehrunes Dagon. But the last of the Septim is no more, and the Third Era ended.
