@Fiore1300
there is the Game Books section under the Pocket Guides in the menu on the left that shows all of the books that appear in each game.

Yes, but just using the advanced search using the categories under TES Game Book Games is a more efficient use of your time when searching by the game a book appears in.

The problem I see is that you can't limit your search with additional constraints. For example, I want to search only Online texts for a certain keyword. I get a lot of results. Unfortunately, I find a lot of books in the search I have already covered in previous research, namely books that have appeared in previous games.

So what I think would do us well here is to have a search system that allows the user to conduct more targeted searches. I want to search TES:O texts, but exclude any results that would also appear under Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, and Daggerfall searches.

There is no real way right now to include multiple categories in a search (or at least, this doesn't seem to be working, as I can select multiple but the search results don't reflect the multiple selections), and you can't exclude categories either.

You can always use the "Contains none of the words" constraint, but you run into problems with certain searches. I want to search "Skyrim" in TES:O texts, so I can't really use "Skyrim" as a constraint if I want to ignore texts that also appear in that game. So instead I have to sort through a ton of results, most of which have no mention of "Skyrim" within the body of text, beyond the tag of the game they appeared in.

EDIT: Also, the drop-down Categories menu is pretty clunky.

EDIT2: I think a big part of the problem is that the search engine doesn't distinguish between tags and words that appear in the actual text of a book.

On the book page "Jewels of Yokuda", there's an instance where Yokuda is spelled " Yokeda". Whether this is how it's spelled in-game or is just a spelling error is unknown to me, but I thought it was worth mentioning just in case

That's actually intentional :) Yokeda is a separate word from Yokuda, meaning something along the lines of "warlord." You can read a bit more about them in this Daggerfall book.

Good looking out!

The Confusion on the Zero Stone forum page broke. Going to it brings me to a white screen. I thought it might have just been my tablet but the same thing happens on my laptop. Everything else works fine

Same here. I think it broke after I posted a reply today.

Fixed, thanks for the alert.

As best I can tell, it was a < body > tag in Fiore's reply that confused the site's own html. It's best to use the "paste as plain text" button when pasting things into the reply box, so that no formatting carries over.

Okay. That shouldn't be possible in the first place.

Or maybe I'm breaking things too. Tried to post a picture in the Introductions thread. Shows up fine in the Comment box, but doesn't show up in the preview or the actual post.

The Daedric Real. Sounds like a thing Baudrillard would come up with.

In Daggerfall's page of Religion, Myths, and Legends the description of The First Scroll of Baan Dar says "An story" instead of "A story"

Riekrs of Wrothgar: An Observation's Librarian comment says "White the first two days" instead of "While the first two days"

Edit: The Librarian comment on the page Daedric Chain of Command has "heirarchy" misspelled

I was just brushing up on my lore & noticed a repetition in the First Era Timeline, Year 420, "The Rourken eventually eventually..."

I know its not a big deal, but thought I should bring it to someones attention... feel free to move/delete this post, I'm new around here & was unsure which avenue to use.

Thanks for all the stupendous work that goes into this site btw!!

I don't know if this is happening to anyone else, but on mobile when I go to create a forum post, the text box overlaps with the save button, making it impossible to post without severely shortening the text

Edit: If I open the Input Format drop-down, the Save button doesn't get covered

Typos are fixed, thanks for pointing them out!

Cordate, what OS and browser are you using? And are you emulating desktop mode? I've not seen this myself on Android w/ Chrome.

Whelp I did it again. Broke the Best Lore thread, probably in the same way.

It wasn't even the thread I was thought I was replying to. Must have confused by browser tabs.

Fixed the Best Lore thread - looks like your post should have gone into the bosmer/khajiit in the thalmor army thread instead? Feel free to delete and repost.

you have forgot about this book, i couldn't find it anywhere in the library, so, here is the book i was talking about:

NIGHTINGALES: FACT OR FICTION?:

The Nightingales:

Fact or Fiction?

by

Wilimina Roth

Mention the "nightingale" to any thief worth his salt and he'll laugh in your face. he'll tell you that the supposed avengers of the Daedric Lord Nocturnal are nothing but fictional characters who live nowhere else but within tales designed to scare young footpads into doing what they're told. But are they fictional or simply misunderstood?

While it's true that most scholars would scoff at the notion of a holy sect appearing within the normally unethical and unorganized rabble that is the Thieves Guild, evidence suggests that such a group existed at one time within the borders of Skyrim. One hundred and twenty years before the publication of this tome, a corpes was discovered wearing a strange suit of armor that was described as "forged midnight". The tattered armor bore a crest of some sort, the symbol of a bird embracing a circle of undetailed blackness. The remains and the armor was taken to the College of Winterhold for study, but it mysteriously vanished only a day after it arrived.

the crest from this armor as circulated around Skyrim for years but identification proved almost impossible. Then the most unlikely of sources, a prisoner incarcerated within the mines of Markarth, claimed that it was the mark of a group of thieves who called themselves the Nightingales. When pressed for more information, the prisoner claimed that the Nightingales were warriors of Nocturnal and performed her bidding without question. he claimed his source was someone he new within the Thieves Guild of Skyrim, but he refused to identify them by name, so his story was quickly dismissed.

the second piece of evidence pointing to the existence of the Nigtingales exists to this day just outside of Riftin. discovered at the terminus of a short pathway off of the main road stands a stone of unidentified blackened material. Carved into its face is the same avian symbol previously found on the dark suit of armor. To those that subscribed to the existence of the Nightingales, this was thought to be some sort of a meeting place. To others, this symbol was once again dismissed as a hoax or simply a diversion created by the Thieves guild.

The final, and most controversial sample of evidence is a passage found scawled on the inside of a cell wall in Whiterun. The cell had previously been occupies by a Dummer named Lorthus was incarcerated for murder and was set for execution. after the deed was performed, and Lorthus's cell was examined, the following was found etched into one of the stone blocks"

"Take my hand lady Nocturnal, for it's my will to serve you. As a Nightingale, i'm born anew. let my past echo our triumph".

This is the first and only time that a solid connection between Nocturnal and the Nightingale has been made. The usual nature of the passage, the religious connotations towards Nocturnal made by a career criminal, kept discussions lively for years regarding the possibility of this group actually existing. Sadly, since not a single piece of evidence beyond this has surfaced to date, this exciting discovery faded into obscurity and debate subsided.

With these scant samples of evidence, conclusions are difficult to formulate. all we're left with are more questions than answers. Can religion and thievery coexist? Does the Daedric Lord Nocturnal have active agents roaming Skyrim with a no-doubt nefarious purpose? Does the Thieves Guild have extensive knowledge of the Nightingales, but remain worn to secrecy? Perhaps one day the answers to these questions will be revealed, but at present it falls to you, the reader, to decide whether the Nightingales are fact or merely fiction.

I'm using this library as a means to follow lore whilst creating my own Tamriel Campaign for DnD. I came across a small discrepancy in your story. Looking through the timeline and the guide to the daedra I see there is two classifications for daedra/divines. In the guide to daedra the quote " One unique characteristic of the Elder Scrolls world is the existence of powerful beings (et'Ada) known as Daedra." Whereas in the timeline of the dawn era it states "Akatosh (Auriel) forms and Time starts. Gods (et'Ada) and Daedra materialize from the blood of Anu and Padomay after their great battle over creation." In one it state et'Ada are the gods whom are opposite of the daedra whilst the other states the daedra are also known as et'Ada. I could delve into all sources of this and see if the error persists but alas I don't have the time today to do so. So I thought maybe I would get a response quicker here. If i could be informed that would be great as well as having the possible error fixed. Many thanks for taking the time to produce such a resource for everyone who loves tamriel. Hail Sithis!

In the Shadowkey Storyline page, the character "Chef" should actually be "Chel"
