As I mentioned in my Intro post, I am the current author of the Book Covers Skyrim mod on the Nexus and I am in the planning stage of a mod which I am tentatively calling "Book Covers Skyrim - The Lost Library". I intend to create new covers for previous TES books and official stories which never made it into Skyrim in the same vein as the Tamriel Compendium and Books Books Books.

I need to check in advance what permission I need to seek and what credits are appropriate to go with that permission.

I would like to include both the official TES books as well as some of the Developer Lore which I understand might need more specific credits?

As far as I know, you are free to use anything here. Just make sure to credit the authors of any texts not directly from the game in the mod description/readme.

That is good to know, thanks. I had assumed that from previous comments on the forum but I thought I should check first in case the situation had changed.

I will have questions later but I will start a thread about anything specific. I am likely to omit any books that have no real content such as Boethiah's Pillow Book and the Blue Book of Riddles (although I may invent a Green Book of Riddles with some actual riddles in it).

Let's keep this thread as the general thread for any permission issues.

As long as it's a book from a previous game, you can use it credited to Bethesda Softworks. Any Obscure Texts should be credited to their respective authors.

Thanks for the clarification on the permissions, Lady N. Do the images in the books come under the same rules? I am referring to the line or brush hand drawings in the 35 Lessons of Vivec for example.

I'd credit those specific ones to Michael Kirkbride. I think that's the only case of images being in a book when they weren't in game. I actually have better versions of most/all of them - send me a PM and I'll get them over to you.

Redirected from here.

Nice to meet you, dear librarians and readers.

My name is deopse, a Japanese fan of The Elder Scrolls and The Imperial Library. I would like to make the fan site for translating TIL, so that Japanese fans may enjoy TES much more. So I know my rudeness, but would you mind permitting for it?

Thanking you in anticipation.

From what you say, I understand that making a mod that would bring books from previous games to Skyrim,  by copying and pasting them from here, is allowed then?

Yes. There are actually a lot of mods that do that already.
