I'm also loving the bioshock-y first person animations.

Yeah, it almost looks like first and third person might be 1:1, so they won't use separate anims. The scene where Dovahkiin hits the edge has me hoping the pc will hesitate before leaping, if there isn't a ledge within range to grab. Not that I should be restricted from jumping off High Hrothgaar, but maybe the jump is more like a fall.

How much more realism do you want? They have been working on this game's realism since Oblivion.

This comment was posted on a Youtube video of the trailer somewhere...

"Funny thing is, dragonic (the language they use in the song) sounds exactly like swedish. I'm not kidding guys, I don't even need text below to understand what they say in swedish. What our hero yells is "Ostkaka" which means cheesecake. And then the choir starts sining of how delicious it is and how they want beer with it, at twelve o clock, and some other random stuff. Pretty hilarious coincidence for all swedes."

Legit?

Well then, there's some good information in that, especially the races thing.

Well for those of us unable to access the video or with super slow connection, what was said?

Some of what I found to be important:

  • The game will not be as alien as Morrowind, but more strange then Oblivion.
  • The three "craft" skills corresponding to warrior, mage and rogue are Smithing, Enchanting and Alchemy.
  • Race and Racism will play a more important part in the game. Further, each group of Nords will have some cultural variation like how the Houses and Ashlanders in Morrowind all differed from each other in style of dress and architecture.
  • They stopped counting at 100 outdoor "points of interest" in addition to the previously mentioned number of dungeons.
  • There are more creatures yet to be revealed.
  • They have somehow altered the way factions are implimented.
  • The Nine Divines and Daedra will still be worshipped, and the quests related to them will be some of the most fantastical as well as some of the most rewarding.
  • Giants and other creatures are given some depth of AI beyond "walk around and attack the player," and have a logic to their programming. For example, groups of Giants will often keep mammoths.
  • Mountains make the game "feel" bigger than Oblivion even though it is statistically the same size due to the fact that you have to go around or over them.

There was some more, but I don't remember it all.

Well that definitely trumps my bullet list then, doesn't it?

I'm very glad to hear that.

Still, the interview tells me they will still approach quest and faction design as though everything should be playable out-of-box by each archetype (warrior, thief or mage). Personally, I do think they should have brought back skill requirements for factions. They shouldn't make it impossible to join the mages guild as a warrior but atleast require some skill or atribute level. That way the player could focus on a non-quest goal: get good enough in a skill/attribute to join or be allowed a promotion in a guild.
