I love speculation as much as the next person, but I can only read so many of those "Do you want spears?" or "Is there fast travel in Skyrim?" type threads without my head exploding.  I would like to use this thread for posting any official information about TES V: Skyrim.  If you find it, put it in here!

See Todd Howard unveil TES V: Skyrim at the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards.

Lore Related Information

You should have acted.
They're already here.
The Elder Scrolls told of their return.
Their defeat was merely delay
Til the time after Oblivion opened,
When the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood.
But no-one wanted to believe.
Believe they even existed.
And when the truth finally dawns:
It dawns in fire.
But,
There's one they fear.
In their tongue, he's Dovahkiin: Dragon Born!

I beg to differ, good sir, but we all have opinions, do we not? To me, while an enjoyable game, Oblivion was leagues away from the greatness Morrowind was. I hope Skryim isn't another step back, but we'll see. I'm obviously excited, but also cautious.

Anyone else think the giants are conspicuously dragon-looking?

I agree. Morrowind offered a far enjoyable setting!

I can only echo the comments already posted here. Oblivion was certainly enjoyable and visually engaging but lacked the depth and atmosphere of Morrowind.

One can only hope that Skyrim has readdressed the equilibrium between the utterly absorbing ethos of Morrowind and the visual excellence of Oblivion.

I think of all the nations of Tamriel not yet explored in a stand alone Elder Scrolls game Skyrim was the one many of us were inwardly praying for, I know I and most of my friends certainly were. The Elder Scrolls series remains the gaming RPG experience par excellence, therefore I remain confident they will not dissapoint with Skyrim.

According to the French subtitles from the teaser trailer it is spelled 'Dovakhiin', not 'Dovahkiin'...

According to the official Twitter feed, it's "Dovahkiin".  There must be a mistake in one of them, and I don't see it as a big deal right now.

Im kinda new at this but I did come accross this in the Akavir section while reading the different documents and I found something that seems to me could be connected to elder scrolls V Skyrim and the trailers clues.

The Ka Po'Tun entry from the Mysteriouse Akavir has some interesting conections for example they say that there was a single member of that race that became a dragon and that they were waiting for the time to return, please if someone could validate my reading or if im going crazy with anticipation id trully be thankful for it.

please investigate, Thank you

Lets keep speculation out of this thread for now. I replied here..

In december a Dutch Game journalist was in Washington for an unannounced game. An NDA is probably keeping them from actually coming out and saying it.

The feature will appear in the februari issue of dutch print-mag Power Unlimited (on magazinestands 28 january 2011). Website: PU.nl

The same journalist also works for tv program and videowebsite GameKings.tv. They say the item pertaining to the trip to Washington will be on the website in the following weeks. But since GameInformer has exclusivity on the first details (and apparently the only one allowed to advertise that they will feature the game) it will be after the GameInformer Issue.

Oh, my god. That theme is truly refreshing after hearing the Oblivion version over and over.

So, anyone has a subscription to Game Informer to report for tomorrow?

I don't think the subscribers are getting it until a bit later in the week. I'll try and hit up my local gamestop this weekend, though I doubt they'll have it yet.

I took the liberty of taking the image out the page. It easier to view it in the browser.

Do we know if spears, crossbows and thrown weapons (knives, darts, etc) will be included?

I haven't heard either way, but I don't visit the Skyrim forums much anymore, for fear my head will explode.  Perhaps someone else can shed some light on the subject.

I hope so. Though, even more, I hope there will be children. I long to make a companion group comprised of only children. We'll run around the cities pickpocketing the nobles and giving to both ourselves and the needy. We'll call ourselves the Children of Moda, the God of Thievery!

Pretty sure children are in.

Really? Did they mention them or do you just say that because of Fallout 3?

It was indirectly mentioned in the Game Informer article.

When talking about Radiant Story they said that if you dropped a weapon in a village, there is a chance a child might pick it up and bring it back to you.

Also, there was concept art in one of the Game Informer videos that had the title: "Child with toy sled".

Perhaps it's childish of me, but I truly hope that M'aiq the Liar, or at least one of his descendants, is still kicking around up there.

It should be Mai'q himself. I consider him the Tom Bombadil of TES.
