Are they Daedra or Goblin-ken? Their appearance is similar to the Homonculi of Arena which suggests an origin on Nirn if they can be bred and experimented upon. However, they also appear similar to the Banekin.

The Origins of Conjuration, a TES:O lore text, suggests imps are daedra but doesn't say so explicitly.

Personally I think Daggerfall and Oblivion contradicts this and I'd take their word over TES:O's, given a choice. I don't think they are daedra or goblinken. I think its okay just to classify them as mortal monsters. Its just frustrating we basically have zero lore about them.

I do like the idea of connecting them to Arena's Homunculi and having them be magical servants who have, over the millennia, escaped and formed their own colonies in the wilderness.

Homunculi from Arena are said to be constructed from pieces of various 'demons' (like Frankenstein's Moster type of thing, or the Gatekeeper from the Shivering Isles). So, if Imps do have a connection to them, it would still mean they are, in a way, Daedric.

Wouldn't being stiched together/experimented upon invalidate the idea that they are Daedra? Daedra's forms dissipate and reform in Oblivion when "killed" or presumably grievously wounded/torn apart. The Xivkyn are a counter-example, but their very essences were altered within Oblivion itself.

If they're daedric, we'll finally have an answer to the question of what mysterious winged daedra flew off with Naarifin

It could also have been a Winged Twilight or a Daedric Titan.

They look like the creatures I saw in Homonculi of Arena.  Or are they Daedra?

Imps are usually nature spirits, I don't see why they shouldn't be in TES. So goblins of a sort, I guess.
