Chapter Three

Your use of magic is based on your skill level in the six schools of magic. Increasing your proficiency depends on gaining uses and training to increase your skill level. New spells can be learned by buying them from people or completing certain quests.

 

School of Alteration

Students of the School of Alteration manipulate the physical world and its natural properties. Alteration effects include water breathing and walking, jumping, levitating, burdening, opening and locking, and creating shield barriers against physical damage.

  • Buoyancy
    Increases the caster's swimming speed by 1 pt for 20 seconds.
  • Burden of Sin
    When touched, the target's carried weight is temporarily increased by 40-60 pts for 20 seconds.
  • Burden
    Temporarily increases the weight carried by the target by 20 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Cruel Weary
    Temporarily increases the weight carried by the target by 50-70 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Crushing Burden of Sin
    Temporarily increases the weight carried by the target by 60-80 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Crushing Burden Touch
    Temporarily increases the weight carried by the target by 60 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Crushing Burden
    Temporarily increases the weight carried by the target by 60 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Dire Weary
    Temporarily increases the weight carried by the target by 60-90 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Feather
    Caster's encumbrance is temporarily reduced by 20 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Fenrick's Doorjam
    Locks a container or door forever, until unlocked by a key, pick, or spell. A lock level of 10 is placed on the container or door when touched.
  • Fifth Barrier
    Creates a magical shield around the caster's body which adds 50 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from attacks.
  • Fire Barrier
    Creates a fire shield around the caster's body which adds 1-10 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 10 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from fire attacks.
  • Fire Shield
    Creates a fire shield around the caster's body which adds 10 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from fire attacks.
  • First Barrier
    Creates a magical shield around the caster's body which adds 10 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from attacks.
  • Fourth Barrier
    Creates a magical shield around the caster's body which adds 40 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from attacks.
  • Frost Barrier
    Creates a frost shield around the caster's body which adds 3 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 10 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from frost attacks.
  • Frost Shield
    Creates a frost shield around the caster's body which adds 10 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from frost attacks.
  • Great Burden of Sin
    Temporarily increases the weight carried by the target by 40 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Great Feather
    Caster's encumbrance is temporarily reduced by 100 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Heavy Burden Touch
    Temporarily increases the weight carried by the target by 40 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Heavy Burden
    Temporarily increases the weight carried by the target by 40 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Levitate
    The caster gains the temporary ability to levitate into the air at a speed of 10 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Lightning Shield
    Creates a lightning shield around the caster's body which adds 10 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from lightning attacks.
  • Ondusi's Open Door
    Opens a locked container or door, up to a lock level of 50 when door or container is touched.
  • Second Barrier
    Creates a magical shield around the caster's body which adds 20 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from attacks.
  • Shield
    Creates a magical shield around the caster's body which adds 5 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from attacks.
  • Shock Barrier
    Creates a lightning shield around the caster's body which adds 1-10 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 10 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from lightning attacks.
  • Sixth Barrier
    Creates a magical shield around the caster's body which adds 60 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from attacks.
  • Slowfall
    Slows the caster's rate of descent by 30 pts for 10 seconds when falling, reducing damage received upon landing.
  • Strong Feather
    Caster's encumbrance is temporarily reduced by 50 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Strong Fire Shield
    Creates a fire shield around the caster's body which adds 12 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from fire attacks.
  • Strong Frost Shield
    Creates a frost shield around the caster's body which adds 12 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from frost attacks.
  • Strong Levitate
    The caster gains the temporary ability to levitate into the air at a speed of 20 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Strong Open
    Opens a locked container or door, up to a lock level of 50 when door or container is touched.
  • Strong Shock Shield
    Creates a lightning shield around the caster's body which adds 12 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from lightning attacks.
  • Swimmer's Blessing
    Increases the caster's swimming speed by 5 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Third Barrier
    Creates a magical shield around the caster's body which adds 30 pts to the target's Armor Rating for 30 seconds, and also greatly reduces damage from attacks.
  • Tinur's Hoptoad
    Increases the height and distance of the target's jumps. The proportional increase in the jump's height and distance is increased by 20 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Ulms's Juicedaw's Feather
    Caster's encumbrance is temporarily reduced by 50 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Vivec's Kiss
    Lets the caster breathe underwater for 100 seconds.
  • Water Breathing
    Lets the caster breathe underwater for 30 seconds.
  • Water Walking
    The caster is able to walk on water for 60 seconds.
  • Weary
    Temporarily increases the weight carried by the target by 30-60 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Wild Levitate
    The caster gains the temporary ability to levitate into the air at a speed of 1-50 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Wild Open
    Opens a locked container or door, anywhere from lock level 1 to 100 when door or container is touched.

School of Conjuration

The spell effects of the School of Conjuration include the mental domination of mundane and magical creatures, summonation of otherworldly weapons and armor, and summonation of Daedric or undead servants to serve and protect the caster.

  • Blessed Touch
    When touched, temporarily increases an undead's flee rating by 100 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Bound Battle-Axe
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric battle-axe for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Bound Boots
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric boots for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Bound Cuirass
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric cuirass for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Bound Dagger
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric dagger for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Bound Gauntlets
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric gauntlets for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Bound Helm
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric helm for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Bound Longbow
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric longbow for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Bound Longsword
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric longsword for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Bound Mace
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric mace for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Bound Shield
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric shield for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Bound Spear
    Conjures a lesser Daedra bound in the form of a magical, wonderously light Daedric spear for 60 seconds. The weapon appears automatically equiped on the caster, displacing any currently equipped weapon to inventory.
  • Command Creature
    Makes targeted creature (up to level 5) fight for the caster for 30 seconds.
  • Command Humanoid
    Makes targeted humanoid (up to level 5) fight for the caster for 30 seconds.
  • Commanding Touch
    When touched, makes targeted creature (up to level 5) fight for the caster for 10 seconds.
  • Dwemer Animunculi
    Summons a Centurion Sphere from the Outer Realms for 120 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Holy Touch
    When touched, temporarily increases an undead's flee rating by 10 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Holy Word
    Temporarily increases an undead's flee rating by 5 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Saintly Touch
    When touched, temporarily increases an undead's flee rating by 25 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Saintly Word
    Temporarily increases an undead's flee rating by 25 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Summon Ancestral Ghost
    Summons an ancestral ghost from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Bonelord
    Summons a Bonelord from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Clannfear
    Summons a Clannfear from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Daedroth
    Summons a Daedroth from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Dremora
    Summons a Dremora from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Flame Atronach
    Summons a creature from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Frost Atronach
    Summons a Frost Atronach from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Golden Saint
    Summons a Golden Saint from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Greater Bonewalker
    Summons a Greater Bonewalker from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Hunger
    Summons a Hunger from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Least Bonewalker
    Summons a Least Bonewalker from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Scamp
    Summons a Scamp from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Skeletal Minion
    Summons a Skeletal Minion from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Storm Atronach
    Summons a Storm Atronach from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Summon Winged Twilight
    Summons a Winged Twilight from the Outer Realms for 60 seconds. It appears six feet in front of the caster and attacks any entity that attacks the caster until the effect ends or the summonded creature is killed. If you summon a creature in a town, the guards will attack the creature and you on sight.
  • Turn Undead
    When touched, temporarily increases an undead's flee rating by 50 pts for 10 seconds.

School of Destruction

Destruction skill is the mastery of the spell effects of the School of Destruction. Their spells harm living and undead creatures, and include elemental damage, draining, damaging, vulnerability, and disintegration magical effects.

  • Armor Eater
    WWhen the target is touched, this spell damages 10-30 pts of a target's equipped armor.
  • Black Hand
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Health by 5-12 pts with an additional 5-12 pts of Poison damage.
  • Blood Despair
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Willpower by 7-14 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Clench
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Speed by 1-20 pts.
  • Clumsy Touch
    When the target is touched, this spelltemporarily lowers the value of a target's Agility by 5-20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Cruel Firebloom
    This spell produces a manifestation of elemental fire. Upon contact with an object, this manifestation explodes, causing 10-16 pts of damage in 10ft radius around target.
  • Daedric Bite
    Lets the caster shoot out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Health by 50 pts.
  • Deadly Poison
    When a target is touched, Deadly Poison causes 1-20 pts of damage to a target's Health for 10 seconds. The target continues to lose Health for the duration of the spell, unless canceled by Cure Poison.
  • Dire Weakness to Fire
    Decreases the target's resistance to elemental fire by 2-60 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Dire Weakness to Frost
    Decreases the target's resistance to elemental frost by 2-60 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Dire Weakness to Magicka
    Decreases the target's resistance to non-elemental Magicka by 2-60 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Dire Weakness to Poison
    Decreases the target's resistance to poison by 2-60 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Dire Weakness to Shock
    Decreases the target's resistance to elemental shock by 2-60 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Distracting Touch
    When the target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Intelligence by 5-20 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Distraction
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Intelligence by 5-20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Doze
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Fatigue by 1-20 pts.
  • Drain Athletics
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Athletics skill by 5-20 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Drain Block
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Block skill by 5-20 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Drain Blood
    When target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Magicka by 5 pts for 30 seconds and drains Health by 5 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Drain Blood
    When the target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Health and Magicka by 5 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Drain Destruction
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Destruction skill by 5-20 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Emasculate
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Endurance by 1-20 pts.
  • Enervate
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Endurance by 5-20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Evil Eye
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Personality by 1-20 pts.
  • Exhausting Touch
    When the target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Fatigue by 5-20 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Fire Bite
    When target is touched, this spell produces a manifestation of elemental fire, causing 15-20 pts of damage.
  • Fire Storm
    This spell produces a manifestation of elemental fire. Upon contact with an object, this manifestation explodes, causing 1-10 pts of damage for 10 seconds in 10ft radius around target.
  • Fireball
    This spell produces a manifestation of elemental fire. Upon contact with an object, this manifestation explodes, causing 2-20 pts of damage in 5ft radius around target.
  • Flay Spirit
    When target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Magicka by 5-20 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Fleabite
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Fatigue by 1-10 pts.
  • Frost Storm
    This spell produces a manifestation of elemental frost. Upon contact with an object, this manifestation causes 1-10 pts of damage for 10 seconds in 10ft radius around target.
  • Frostbite
    When target is touched, this spell produces a manifestation of elemental frost, causing 15-30 pts of damage.
  • Fuddle
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Intelligence by 1-20 pts.
  • Gash Spirit (Ranged)
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Magicka by 5-20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Gash Spirit
    When target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Magicka by 5-20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • God's Fire
    This spell produces a manifestation of elemental fire. Upon contact with an object, this manifestation explodes, causing 11-60 pts of damage for 10 seconds in 10ft radius around target.
  • God's Frost
    This spell produces a manifestation of elemental frost. Upon contact with an object, this manifestation causes 11-60 pts of damage for 10 seconds in 10ft radius around target.
  • Greater Fireball
    This spell produces a manifestation of elemental fire. Upon contact with an object, this manifestation explodes, causing 1-10 pts of damage for 10 seconds in 10ft radius around target.
  • Greater Frostball
    This spell produces a manifestation of elemental frost. Upon contact with an object, this manifestation causes 2-40 pts of damage in 10ft radius around target.
  • Greater Shockball
    This spell produces bolts of elemental lightning, causing 2-40 pts of damage in a 10ft radius around the target.
  • Heartbite
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Health by 10-50 pts.
  • Hex
    When the target is touched,the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Luck by 1-20 pts.
  • Hornhand
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Fatigue by 15-35 pts.
  • Lightning Bolt
    This spell produces bolts of elemental lightning, causing 10-50 pts of damage in a 10ft radius around the target for 2 seconds.
  • Lightning Storm
    This spell produces bolts of elemental lightning, causing 2-10 pts of damage in a 10ft radius around the target for 10 seconds.
  • Magicka Leech
    When target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Magicka by 6-15 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Ordeal of St. Olms
    When the target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Fatigue by 5-20 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Poison
    Creates a poison spray of acid in a 5ft radius around the target, causing 2-30 pts of damage to Health.
  • Poisonbloom
    Creates a poison spray of acid in a 10ft radius around the target, causing 1-20 pts of damage to Health for 5 seconds. The target continues to lose Health for the duration of the spell, unless canceled by Cure Poison.
  • Poisonous Touch
    When a target is touched, Poisonous Touch causes 15-40 pts of damage to a target's Health.
  • Potent Poison
    When a target is touched, Potent Poison causes 20-40 pts of damage to a target's Health for 5 seconds. The target continues to lose Health for the duration of the spell, unless canceled by Cure Poison.
  • Scourge Blade
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Short and Long Blade skills by 5-20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Shock
    When a target is touched, this spell produces bolts of elemental lightning, causing 1-15 pts of damage.
  • Shockball
    This spell produces bolts of elemental lightning, causing 2-40 pts of damage in a 10ft radius around the target.
  • Shockbloom
    This spell produces bolts of elemental lightning, causing 1-25 pts of damage in a 10ft radius around the target for 5 seconds.
  • Sleep
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Fatigue by 5-15 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Soulpinch
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Magicka by 1-20 pts.
  • Spark
    This spell produces bolts of elemental lightning, causing 2-20 pts of damage in a 5ft radius around the target.
  • Spirit Knife
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Health by 1-20.
  • Spite
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Personality by 5-20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Stormhand
    When a target is touched, this spell produces bolts of elemental lightning, causing 5-12 pts of Shock damage with an additional 5-12 pts of damage to the target's Health.
  • Strength Leech
    When the target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Strength by 20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Stumble
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Agility by 1-20 pts.
  • Temptation
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Willpower by 5-20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Torpor
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Speed by 5-20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Toxic Cloud
    Creates a poison spray of acid in a 10ft radius around the target, causing 2-15 pts of damage to Health for 10 seconds. The target continues to lose Health for the duration of the spell, unless canceled by Cure Poison.
  • Viperbolt
    Creates a poison spray of acid in a 10ft radius around the target, causing 10-50 pts of damage to Health for 2 seconds. The target continues to lose Health for the duration of the spell, unless canceled by Cure Poison.
  • Weakness to Common Disease
    Decreases the target's resistance to common disease by 1-20 pts for 10 seconds.
  • Weakness to Fire
    Decreases the target's resistance to elemental fire by 10 pts for 5 seconds.
  • Weapon Eater
    When the target is touched, this spell damages 6-25 pts of a target's equipped weapon.
  • Wearying Touch
    When the target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Fatigue by 5-20 pts for 30 seconds.
  • Wild Distraction
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Intelligence by 5-20 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Wild Exhaustion
    When the target is touched, this spell temporarily lowers the value of a target's Fatigue by 5-15 pts for 60 seconds.
  • Wild Flay Spirit
    Temporarily lowers the value of a target's Magicka by 1-20 pts for 3 seconds.
  • Woe
    When the target is touched, the caster shoots out magical energy which lowers the value of a target's Willpower by 1-20 pts.

School of Illusion

Spell effects of the School of Illusion alter the perceptions and thoughts of living subjects. Illusion effects include blind, light, paralyze, silence, calm, or frenzy, chameleon, and invisibility.

  • Alad's Caliginy
    This effect obscures the vision of the victim, reducing his chance to hit an opponent with weapon or hand-to-hand attacks by 10-30 pts for 30 seconds on touch.
  • Brevusa's Averted Eyes
    This effect conceals the presence of the subject from observers. If the subject attacks, speaks, or activates an object, the effect is dispelled. The caster is 100% invisible for 10 seconds.
  • Calm Creature
