Hey All,
To give a quick OOC summary, we are about to cap
off the campaign which started over a year and a half ago, which
chronicled events inspired by the Hogithum Hall/Trial of Vivec
threads. We've seen the vengenace of Azura for Vivec's trick on
her, the civil war in Morrowind that broke out due to the fall of
the Tribunal, the rise of Mannimarco and his seeming defeat, and
much more.
Now, we're poised in the last months of 3E433.
Several of the heroes who have fought for Empire and their fellow
man lie imprisoned in the Imperial Dungeons, others fret over the
fate of their friends, and still others have seemingly vanished
from the face of Nirn. The war in Morrowind has quieted down,
becoming a cold war between the royalist and opposed Houses
factions, and preperations are made now for a great ball
commerating the wedding of Prince Gedall, one of Uriel Septim's
sons. The ball is scheduled for the 27th of Last Seed ...
This
last thread will be the true finale of the Loranna RP that started
two Septembers ago, and will herald our promised haitus before we
return in a month or two to begin a new RP based on the events in
Oblivion.
Hope it's been as enjoyable for you all to read
as it's been for us to write!
And now, the curtain rises
...

Update:
The Imperial City in the last months of 3E
433 was seasonably cool and clement. The sky over the capitol is a
curtain of blue with nary a cloud, peaceful yet expectant, while
all below, the city seethes with activity, particularly around the
palace.
In just a day’s time, it will be the
engagement party of Crown Prince Geldall and his bride-to-be. It
had been decades since an Imperial Prince had taken a wife, the
Emperor’s wife having died long ago, and their sons quite
middle-aged bachelors all. Every king and count in the Empire had
tried unsuccessfully to link a daughter to Enman, Ebel, or Geldall,
but none of the delicate flowers of romance and politics had taken
root. It was scarcely any wonder. Had a Prince taken a bride from
any of the provinces, he would have alienated the other nine. If he
chose a mate from Cyrodiil, he would have been missing an
opportunity for a good alliance.
The actual identity of this
girl whom Geldall intended to make his wife, who would someday
doubtless be Empress of Tamriel was a well-guarded secret. So much
so that no one knew where Geldall, the Emperor, and this mystery
woman was for several months before the Engagement Ball, where she
would be revealed to all.
One thing that people noted as the
palace began preparations for the Ball was the abundance of
fountains, waterspouts, and other aquatic décor that was
being installed for the occasion. Was this theme a hint? The palace
observed wondered.
The better taverns in the Imperial City
were quickly filling up, but rooms were available in all quarters,
as the citizens found it profitable to rent their rooms for the
occasion

Summary
Nalion
Nalion is still abiding his time in
prison and with day to day and week to week, his small cell seems
to get smaller. The food tastes bland and Nalion had long stopped
listening to the rambling of other prisoners, who, whenever some
guard came down the stairs, muttered about "someone coming for
you...".
The mage continued to talk to Somnia in his
dreams, the only freedom he seemed to have. He also repeatedly
talked to Slyvos and Loranna whenever they were dreaming and Somnia
was able to join their dreams.
Gistral
Gistral was
last seen travelling in the Alik'r, apparently oblivious of the
imprisonment of some of his friends.
Dana
Dana,
still suffering from nightmares from the battles of Kalaan and Tel
Dresori, is continuing her service as a Knight of the Circle in
Sentinel, and by that, ttries to overcome her very own demons.

Summary for Loranna
When Sir Ceil had imprisoned her
years ago, she had welcomed being locked up; at the time, she had
wanted nothing more than to be kept from inflicting any further
harm on the world. But, people in power wanted her free and so she
did not get her wish.
Now, with both a family and a city to
care for, Loranna wanted nothing more than to be free; every day
was a day she wasn't spending watching Fjord and Alanya grow or
experimenting with her herbs or just frolicking in the snow-covered
fields of her hideaway. But, people in power wanted her locked up,
and so she did not get her wish.
The guards were tolerable;
even disheveled as all prisoners are, she was still pretty, and the
guards were inclined to treat the pretty ones nicely. The prisoner
in the cell across from hers never failed to remind her of the true
nature of the guards' generosity, however, all while insinuating
that he was in good with the guards and could arrange for them both
to share a cell. For some reason, Loranna felt little desire to
encourage him to try. That left few things to talk about with her
dubious companion, however; her ashen skin and blond hair elicited
a few ... interesting comments and inquisitive querries, but beyond
that, he had little to mention beyond which prisoner had died in
their cell last month or which guard was caught having improper
relations with some Argonian pickpocket last week or the latest
method of killing rats favored by the prisoners. This week the
method of choice involved trying to get the nasty little buggers to
eat the food the guards brought for the prisoners; Loranna's prison
mate boasted that it only took him five minutes to get a rat to
nibble.
It only took the rat ten minutes to roll over dead.
Loranna, however, was convinced the other guy cheated, based on
things she could hear going on in his cell - things she wished she
hadn't heard.
By day, there was nothing to do; her magic was
denied her, she was shackled, the cell offered too little room to
really excersice in,not that she didn't at least try to stay
somewhat active. By night, her only solace were her dreams, shared
often with Nalion and Slyvos; these moments of companionship
Loranna clung to with fervor, offering Somnia whatever aid her
dreams could provide to keep her from becoming exhausted.
Thus
did the Duchess of Ald Raathim pass her days until the 27th of Last
Seed, when she was surprised to learn that her invitation to the
ball was still good ...

Last Seed, 3E433
Shaka stood before his armoire and
chose the clothing for the Engagement Ball, then began packing his
gearbag. His travelling clothes would be practical and plain, but
he had decided on brighter clothing for the Engagement Ball: a
crimson and gold robe over black clothes. He debated whether to
take armor, but settled on packing the orcish cuirass.
It
didn't take long to pack, though Shaka also made sure to include a
katana and the glass longknife. He could probably leave them
wherever he would be staying during the festivities, if he had to.
Before locking the cabin, both physically and mystically, Shaka
paused outside his front door.
Forgive me for attending
this while you're not free, he thought. Shaka could only shake
his head and start down the trail for Ald Raathim; the trail which
he had kept camouflaged for years but which now, with the advent of
something like peace, he had cleared.
When Shaka neared the
city, he found himself hoping that he would find Anya at the
festivities. For the thousandth time, he also wondered where Telera
had disappeared to, and prayed that the Dunmer/Nord cross was alive
and well these past several years.

Summary
Glacia Rysleire made certain that she
and Reeds were in the Imperial City long before the ball, and
continued to make entreaties to the guard to let her speak with the
Emperor when he arrived, or at least let her meet with the Duchess.
To the former request, the guards told her that there were many
people who wished to meet with the Emperor after his long absence,
and she would have to wait her turn in the hierarchy of importance.
To the latter request, she was denied again, until she hit on an
unusual strategy.
Kallen still had the Duchess’s
invitation to the Engagement Ball. The diplomat produced it, and
after some discussion, it was agreed that it was good currency. The
Duchess would be permitted to attend the Ball, under guard.
That
small goal accomplished, Glacia returned to the tavern room she had
booked with Reeds Saloat. For the last week, in deference to the
Imperials, she had worn light-colored, simple gowns of their style.
Now, she wore a dress of Dunmeri design, which was a trifle more
revealing that her usual modest attire.
“I have to
get the Emperor’s attention as soon as I see him,” she
explained with a slight frown to Reeds when he saw her. “And
I have to use every trick in the book, even the oldest one a woman
uses to attract a man’s attention.”
Kethiah,
her husband Isidor, her brother-in-law Ingmar, her stepchildren
Tyradil and Tilitalia, and her three-year-old son Eodir left for
Cyrodiil the day before the Ball, traveling by Guild Guide to the
Imperial City. It would be nice and educational for the children to
see the Imperial Province, but they could not be gone from the
Nymph and Noggin for more than a couple days. Besides, Kethiah had
other obligations to attend to, which she could temporarily
re-entrust to Alas and Alack, but not for very long.
It had
been difficult, worrying about Loranna, Slyvos, and Nalion, and
trying to gather intelligence about their well-being, but Kethiah
could not help but smile at how nice her little clan looked,
dressed for the ball. She was particularly impressed with
Tilitalia, though she suspected her stepdaughter did not like to be
in such formal “girly” clothes, as she had become quite
the Arena warrior. As for Eodir, she was not worried about him at
all: though he was strong and active, he was an unusually quiet
toddler, and very well-behaved.
The family found a house on
the outskirts of the city where they could stay, and prepare for
the party.

Blue-Water-Scales, Hesek, Commander Slashes-With-Claws to the
warmbloods, was in Ald Raathim. He had declined the invitation to
the ball so he could spend time with his children, Shesekar and
Telmet, and mate, Chalovk. He would have liked to go and see what
could be done about freeing Loranna while he was there, but others
better at handling such things were already working on it.
He
was still a commander by choice. He had been offered promotion to
General, but had declined. He liked the closer work with his men
that commander offered, as well as being on the front line.

Summary for Julius Varrus
Over the past years, Julius
Varrus had fought on many fronts and had slowly come to the
attention of his commanders, and was up for promotion from Knight
of the Garland, to who knows what else. Apparently, his commanders
had seen something in him. Or, so they said. Varrus now had to stay
in the Imperial City for most of the time, when not out fighting.
Being cooped up in the Imperial City was not what he wanted
to do, but his feelings didn't matter; the Empire did. A few things
had stayed constant over the years. His brown hair had stayed
short, and his brown eyes were still sharp, but had developed a
far-away look to them. However, there were more scars, and he had
become more muscular, due to constant fighting at the front of the
Legions.

did not do it justice in comparison to the attire whe wore of the

he continued, throwing his white cloak over his shoulders and
fastening it, "whatever you wear is just gilding the lily."

At last, the day of the ball had come. People from all over Tamriel
flooded into the Palace District of the Imperial City, dressed in
their best finery. Carriages bearing the heraldry of hundreds of
different nobles sped past the cemeteries maintained on the outer
edges of the district, through the lanes that cut through the
meticulously kept lawns and flower gardens to the soaring White
Gold Tower.
As was customary, the first two floors of the
Palace were open for the public; the first floor, larger than the
second, had been decroated with an abundance of fountains,
waterspouts, and other aquatic décor. The pit orchestra was
arrayed in a large fountain, illusiory water creating a fine mist
over them as they struck up a vibrant, celebratory tune. The tables
bearing food and drink were seemingly carved from cyrstal, shaped
like foaming waterspouts, and in those places where the Red Dragon
symbol of the Empire was not proudly emblazoned, shades of blue
dominated the massive hall. Everywhere one could hear the soft,
gentle sounds of flowing water, leading more than one guest to
speculate in hushed tones that the Prince's soon to be wife was
some manner of water nymph, and that the next Emperor's reign would
be a rather wet one for Tamriel.
The second floor's decor
was more modest and subdued, consisting more of smaller fountains
unobtrusively placed the the myraid of sitting rooms. Shelves of
books awaited for the literary-minded guest, though the light
volumes available in the second floor paled in selection to the
grand library located elsewhere in the castle. Of course,
everywhere one looked, one could see the Imperial Guard,
resplendant in the mirrored, gold-trimmed armor, keeping a careful
eye on the proceedings and cautioning people to keep their voices
down.

Those
guests inclined to roam further were told politely but furmly that
the rest of the palace was strictly off-limits ...
The music that filtered through the palace,
by musicians placed at strategic locations to pick up and carry the
arrangement wherever the guests wandered, was soft and tinkling,
also like a gentle stream.
No one entering the palace could
be of any doubt that security was in force. Battlemages and knights
wore the uniform of the Imperial Guard, and their eyes were
everywhere.
“No magery,” the battlemages would
discreetly whisper to any obvious sorcerors as they entered. “By
order of the Emperor. No exceptions.”
Already, there
was much gossip, not all of it centered on whether the Emperor was
back yet, or who the mysterious woman was who had taken Prince
Geldall’s heart. The royal family of Mournhold were in
attendance, as were the major powers of the former Indoril/Redoran
Alliance. The royal family of Firsthold were expected soon.
Sovereigns from all over the Empire were present, and discovered by
a little exploration through the salons of the palace. There was
Queen Barenziah, who had heard what the theme of the ball was
through her spies, and was appropriately dressed in an azure-blue
gown that shimmered with gems as if kissed by dew. There was Queen
Elysana, who also had spies and also dressed in an aquatic manner,
but with a different interpretation: her dark amethyst colored gown
appeared like a sea in a storm, with silver filigree representing
whirlpools and tidal waves.
The former stepmother and
stepdaughter greeted one another politely before moving on.
The
guests looked at one another. If those two could be polite, surely
this would be a very peaceful evening.

Loranna had been somewhat dumbfounded to
hear that she was being allowed to attend the ball, but she
accepted the offer gratefully, though she did insist that her
husband and her friend Nalion also be allowed to attend, for surely
both would also have been invited?
Loranna was taken from
her cell early that morning, two female guards escorting her to
chambers where she could wash herself up and make herself
presentable. A simple but elegant blue gown and some basic gold
jewelry was provided for her, as was a more hearty breakfast than
she had been used to of late.
Untangling her hair had proved
to be something of a challenge, for in the past few months it had
grown longer than she was wont to keep it, and lacking even a comb
she could'nt untangle the snarls that developed. It took the
judicious use of a pair of scissors and a stiff brush to work her
hair back into something close to its proper luster. She had lost
weight during her imprisonment as well, which showed even despite
the bath and the hearty meal. Still, in the space of a few hours
she went from looking like a beleagured prison rat to the lovely,
is careworn, Duchess of Ald Raathim, her exotic looks compensating
for the relative plainess of her attire.
Her guards warned
her not to try leaving their presence or else suffer the
consequences; with a quiet sigh, Loranna asked to see her husband
and Nalion so that they could go to the ball together ...

Slyvos did not particularly care about the
ball right now, but the fact that his wife was going, and indeed,
that he was going as well, was enough incentive to get him to go
along without much of a fuss.
Of course, as ragged as he
would look from his time in that cell, he was led off from his cell
by two guards to what would be his chambers. He proceeded to wash
up, contemplating during that time the prospect of just beating the
two guards and finding his own way out of here, but he decided
against it. Formal events weren't his forte to begin with, but
going to them under forcible guard... suffice it to say, he never
did, and never would, recognize the authority of any monarch or
ruler over him. But for now, the fact that he could see his wife
and friends in person was enough to hold his temper.
He was
dressed up in a simple red robe, with minor adornments to make it
look presentable at a Ball. He just sighed, letting himself be led
along by the guards...

Her
guards warned her not to try leaving their presence or else suffer
the consequences; with a quiet sigh, Loranna asked to see her
husband and Nalion so that they could go to the ball together ...
The snickering harsh voice of a prisoner from
another cell reached Nalion's ears.
"They come for
you."
Indeed, heavy footsteps could be heard and Nalion
moved to the cell door. The footsteps stopped in front of Nalion's
dark chamber and then a key was turned in the rusty lock. The door
opened - a door that had been closed for what seemed ages to
Nalion. He looked into the face of two guards, armored in steel and
holding a sword in their hands, the tips pointing at his
belly.
"Your presence is required.", the guard. "Come
with us quietly."
Nalion did not know why they took
him, but he could guess. At best, he would finally see someone who
could help him, or at least listen to him. At worst, cold steel or
hot flame could wait.
The mage was surprised when he saw where
they took him, to a bath - which he used excessively - and then to
a room where food had been prepared, and Loranna and Slyvos had
been waiting. It was there where Nalion was informed of the purpose
of all this, Geldall's Ball.
Nalion felt that finally, he might
be able to bring someone to listen to him, Geldall, or perhaps the
Emperor himself. And thus, he smiled with hope.
The mage was
given clothes, not as fine as some of the clothes he had possessed
before he was imprisoned, but good enough to not shame him at a
ball like this. Soon, he wore a blue vest with red ornaments and
dark blue pants with matching shoes. A pair of enchanted bracers
that inhibited using magic completed his outfit, hidden by the long
sleeves of his shirt.
The mage felt fresher than he had in
months, which was not hard considering the circumstances, but he
looked older, too, the strains of imprisonment and worries still
written on his face for those observant enough to see.
He
was briefed of the rules that would govern his presence at the ball
by a battlemage who would accompany him as a "shadow"
throughout the evening, watching him closely. Thus prepared, the
mage entered the ballroom with slow steps.

Reichi Sari has rented a room in
the Tiber Septim hotel in Cyrodiil, and had left all his equipment
back in Ald Raathim, knowing that he likely wouldn't be able to
take a blade into the ball, it was the Imperial Palace
afterall. Top-level security. Reichi got himself a finer set of
clothes for a ball. The clothier had recommended a Black and
burgundy outfit, one commonly wore by the nobles of Cyrodiil.
Reichi didn't argue and thus was outfitted in a new outfit with a
pair of gold-trimmed shoes.
Thus, Reichi set off for the
Ball.
---
Reichi marvelled at the sheer size of the tower
as he aproached the Imperial Palace. Even if they weren't the
nicest of mer, no one could question that the Wild Elves had been
masterful artitects when they ruled this land. Reichi continued
inside, past the Guardsmen outside, and found himself both
marvelling and wondering at all the water-based decorations and
what the general watery theme meant. He could already overhear
speculation on it, some even had speculated a water nymph being the
wife Geldall would wed. Reichi simply shook his head, that seemed a
bit absurd. But anything was possible, he guessed, as he reflected
on the love-lives of his friends. Reichi then began roving about,
looking for familar faces.

P'Rassha had prepared in advance. He didn't want to miss his first
travel to the imperial city in 5 years. It has been a while, he
thought.
He asked his sister-in-law, Iwha'nil, to accompany
him to the imperial province. Needless to say, the huge Senche-raht
was mainly there for P'Rassha to make a theatrical appearance. And
he did. Several days later, when they finally arrived to the
imperial capital, the size of a giant tiger as tall as two Altmers
frightened many Cyrodiils, and many guards came to check the
strange duo, but they recognized the hero of the War of the
Wormgod, P'Rassha the storyteller. Needless to say, P'Rassha rare
breed pretty much gave it away.
P'Rassha laughed from the
imperials effort to find a stable fitted for Iwha'nil in the
crowded city, but decided it was better for her to simply wander
the wilderness around the Imperial Capital. Afterwards, when the
ball began, P'Rassha changed his outfit for the most elegant robe
of his size he own and entered the Palace District, in search for
friends. P'Rassha knew, though, that friends were more likely to
find him than the other way around.

"It seems even bigger than the last
time I was here years ago," Loranna mutters as she looks
around the ballroom, her eyes looking for familiar faces in the
crowd.
It was hard for someone with Loranna's looks to walk
into a crowd and not draw attention; already people were whispering
about who she was, she could hear. She idly wondered what the
current rummors for her imprisonment were.
Seeing Shaka,
Loranna's face lights up. "Hail Shaka," she says, "it's
good to see you again ..." She raises her eyebrows at his
newly-shaved head, the unspoken question in her eyes. However,
aloud all she says is "Pray tell, how are things with you?"

“No
magery,” the battlemages would discreetly whisper to any
obvious sorcerors as they entered. “By order of the Emperor.
No exceptions.”
Anya chuckled, twirling her hand. What she did,
well, technically it wasn't magic. Anya loitered on the edges of
the crowds, using a soft voice to make people hazy as to who was
there. With the Cyrodillics looking for her blood, it wasn't
because she disliked crowds that she hid from the attention of
others. Not even her friends would recognize her at first
glance.
She wore a customary dark cloak, neatly embroidered
for events such as these. Normally, she wouldn't have even come,
but with her friends being let out for some light, she couldn't
miss it. The ebony dagger from Her Fangs was neatly tucked away
from view and scrutiny.
She tapped her foot, waiting for
something interesting to happen.

The

Additionally, the mage tried hard to ignore the feeling of two

step foot inside, staring in awe at the water based theme, each

braiding her hair into tight knit rows, allowing the pair of Silver

The grayishness of Ora's gown, plus
the sapphire accents along the trim, are reminescent of rainclouds,
on an otherwise sunny day. While Osa's dress may be more
contemporary, Ora's shows a considerable amount of flesh,
especially around the leg region. The Ebony jewelry she wears seems

yet an Ebony Barrette finals the ensemble.

scandal?" Princess Mynisera said, taking P'Rassha's paw. "I'll

Thus, the young teenaged Redguard Princess

to the group.

his face, the invisible weight that sat upon his shoulders. But
when he spoke ... you couldn'r see the tired, frail-looking shell
of his body, you could only see the Emperor of Tamriel, blood of
Tiber Septim that even the man-god Vivec bowed to with
reverence.
"Your Highness," she replies, standing
a little straighter in Uriel's presence, "Yes; there seems to
have been a bit of a mistake ..."
"Let me say from the first that I am
not quite so senile to forget Sentinel and the heroes of Ald
Raathim rescuing me during that terrible time with the Azurites,"
the Emperor said slowly, looking Loranna, Nalion, and Slyvos over
with an old but sharp eye. "Your friends must truly love you,
for they have been pestering me non-stop since my arrival earlier
today, disrupting all my other business until I was fully briefed
on your case. Or cases, I should say, as Master Nalion has been
charged with different offenses ... But let us talk first about
you, Loranna Pyrel ..."
Uriel Septim VII brought out
the warrant and put it in front of Loranna.
"You should
know what this pertains to. I would hear your thoughts on the
matter."

smiles with quiet pride at Anya. "So tell me Kingston, was
Skyrim to your liking?" she asks, ignoring any stares from
thin-lipped Imperials ...
"That's good," Kingston smiled.
"It's a rare thing when 100% of any vampire tribe gets along
that well, even if it is two out of two. As far Skyrim, it was -- I
think you'll be surprised to hear this -- quite cold. I got far up
north, and into a scrape when I was lured to a mountain peak which
turned out to be an iceberg that floated away. As you know, water
and my kind are not compatible, so I had to wait until the winter
and the sea froze again to return ... That was a hungry autumntide,
but ... I made up for it. Are you hunting now, Anya?"

Loranna smiles. "My friends include
some of the best people in all Tamriel," she says, the light
catching her tearstreaks and giving her face an etheral air. "I
would go to Oblivion and back for them - for they would do the same
for me."
She looks down at the warrent and nods slowly.
"The Tales and Tallows Ball; the Daedra Princes of Madness and
the Dusk and Dawn were both in attendance, working their chaos upon
the innocent revelers. By the end of the festival, many children
had died - and they were not the last, I am afraid to say."
She
takes a deep breath. "At the time, Your Highness, I was naive,
foolish; I did something no sane person would ever think to do and
the end results of that mistake brought naught but death and
destruction to Skyrim and Vvardenfell, and imperilled all Tamriel."
She slowly lets out her breath.
"There is no excuse
for what I did, Your Highness," she says, facing Uriel Septim
VII with a feeling of serene calm. "I realized finally in
Morrowind the folly of my actions, and in the presence of witnesses
I swore I would dedicate the rest of my life to addressing my
crimes, to fixing what I thoughtlessly broke. By the grace of my
friends, I was given a chance to do so - some of them literally
went to Oblivion and back, for me."
Her eyes were
moist; she didn't know if what she said was wise, but in the
presence of the Emperor, she could be nothing but truthful. At long
last, she stood before the Empire she had wronged and come to fight
for with her life, and answered for what she had done.

Julius Varrus strolled into the ball room slowly, catching his breath. He had sprinted to the palace from his small residence down the street, as he had just remembered about the ball. He had his sword on his left hip as usual, and he was wearing ceremonial armor, without the helmet, as well as a cape that bore a Gold Garland on a dark blue background. He looked around and after getting over the sight of a Giant Khajiit, and not seeing anyone, he settled to conversing with any of the guards he came across. Whenever he started conversing, he would get each of them a Flin, mainly to help the guards stay awake and lively while on duty, but also to loosen their tongue slightly, even though he never learned anything, other than rumors about this general sleeping with that noble's daughter, etc. etc. He continued to speak with the guards while looking around, hoping, in vain he thought, to possibly catch a sighting of one of the Ald Raathim group, as he hadn't seen them in ages.

The ball was proving to

The Dunmer felt the

Loranna and the Emperor talked. He took the papers from Uriel VII's
hand, but he already knew what would be written there in a tiny
script. his own handwriting. He took a deep breath, then began to
speak.
"These writings were tools, your Majesty. I acquired
them years ago, during a crisis that ravaged Morrowind and affected
many parts of the Empire: the first Azurite threat and the war that
resulted from it. With the help of these scrolls, I was able to
devise a means to control an artifact called the Eidolon and how to
employ it with my friends against the Azurites, which culminated in
the battle of Red Mountain five years ago. The Eidolon was a weapon
of mythopoeic power, and the means of operating it likewise delved
into the mythopoeic. There are not many texts that either remain or
deal with these powers, and the I felt that the need and danger of

As they moved out onto the floor,

The guests bowed as the Emperor moved forward into the Ball. He was
followed by his two younger sons, Prince Enman and Prince Ebel.
After a pause, the couple in whose honor the evening was being held
came to the door. The Emperor’s heir, the Imperial Prince
Geldall and his fiancee.
The crowd drew their breath
collectively at her almost unearthly beauty. Her honey-colored hair
was pulled back in a formal, but still youthful chignon. The pink
of her pale, flawless skin was heightened by her simple red silk
gown, which spoke of modesty.
The couple moved forward to
the center of the room, while the Emperor took his seat and beamed
at them, proudly.
“Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed
guests, I had a speech prepared, but fortunately for you, I am not
going to give it,” Geldall smiled, addressing the crowd in an
authorative but conversational tone in the hushed room. “I am
certain there has been plenty of gossip over the years about
whether I would ever marry, and tonight, who the girl would be.
Well, let me put all that to rest, and allow you to gossip about
something else.
“I met my love, my bride-to-be, a year
ago tonight, while hunting in a remote forest in the Colovian
Highlands. It had begun to rain, and my men were miserable, so we
decided to seek shelter in the nearest place we could, a ruined old
shack we had passed on the way. Imagine my surprise when it was not
only occupied, but the person within was the loveliest maiden I had
ever seen.”
To this, the young woman blushed, but she
did not avert her eyes. All the time, they were focused on Geldall,
twinkling.
“She lived there alone, she told me, after
her parents had died. There were no neighbors, no friends, no one
to help, so she did everything on her own. And, the delightful
thing is, she had no idea who I was!”
To this the girl
laughed, nodding her head, a little embarrassed.
“It
was such an extraordinary experience, being with someone so
beautiful but so unspoiled by civilization, whose humor and
observations were keen but unsophisticated in the best sense of the
word,” Geldall took her hand. “When I asked her what
her name was, she said that as her mother had given birth to her at
the rising of Magnus, she had always been called Tamrialle, for
‘Dawn’s Beauty.’ I knew at once I had to beg her
to be my wife.
“I’m sure you can imagine, the
poor girl was frightened as I took her out of the wilderness and
into the cities, but I have always tried to shield her while I
taught her. My dear old father knew right away this was no forest
nymph I had brought back for a dalliance, and it was he, not I, who
first asked me if I intended to marry her,” Geldall’s
voice broke slightly with emotion. “I told him yes, but I was
worried that I was disappointing him by not marrying the heiress of
some great dynasty, forming some political pact … He told me
that Tamriel could survive an Emperor who married out of
love.”
There was, some close to him noticed, a tear in
the Emperor’s eye as he smiled, looking on Geldall and
Tamrialle.
“I hope you, friends, will wish us no
lesser blessing than that,” the Imperial Prince said, turning
to his fiancee and kissing her. “If when I am Emperor, I can
bring the land even a small part of the happiness that is in my
heart, it will be a golden age.”

She's touched by Dibella, Loranna
thought to herself as she watches Tamrielle, her beauty and her
simplicity both catching her eye. She's got something about her
that feels almost like Deothur ...
It was beautiful and
sad all at once; it made Loranna think of Harman's first words to
her, that they must be absolutely like a child in the garden, and
of the lesson of the lily shortly thereafter. A marriage of love,
yet she would become the most powerful woman in all Tamriel - and
withthat power would come all the cares Loranna had discovered over
the years as Duchess, and more. Loranna felt her eyes moisten and
she smiled to herself; she was such a crybaby at times ... after
all, she was the Weeping Redeemer ...
Something nagged at
the back of Loranna's mind, a vague feeling of disquiet that she
couldn't identify. It had been a hard past four years, between the
Azurites and Sentinel and the problems in the heavens and the war
in Morrowind. The Heart of the World had been hammered upon twice
in recent memory, the Tribunal was gone ... surely now Tamriel and
her champions deserved the promise of a bright future, no?
I
should talk more with Tamrielle, Loranna thought to herself.
Not just as a noblewoman but as a fellow woman, a friend; she
shouldn't have to face the rigors of entering this new world alone,
even if she's always been self-sufficient ... She frowned,
reconsidering her proposal, but shook her head. I'll let her
decide; it might be the best gift I have to offer her at this
time.
Now all that remained was to find a time to talk
to the blushing bride.

Shaka watched from a distance as Loranna, Goranthir, and Rinalla
met with the happy couple. Tamrialle was a stunner, he had to
admit; almost too perfect. Better late than never for the prince
though. The heir would have to breed soon if the dynasty were to
continue, looked at bluntly.
The Ra'Gada thought back to a
conversation he had had over three years before. Shaka had told his
friends that with the Tribunal gone and Vvardenfell devastated,
they were at the end of an era. Yet Shaka's eyes told him
differently this day. Which judgement was true?
Maybe the
era's end was only that of Morrowind and the House system. Shaka
should celebrate as freely as everyone else this day.

After both sisters meet and greet with the soon to be newlyweds,
Osa's again whisked away by her father's
friend...however:
"Arranged Marriage!!!" Osa
shouts, momentarily forgetting where she is and who happens to be
present, before recomposing herself and muttering a low 'sorry' to
those near her...Ora finally approaches to see what all the huff is
about
"What the hell's wrong with you?" Ora asks
whispering
Osa then grabs her by the arm and leads her up
the stairs to the quieter and less crowded book room
"Father's
arranged for me to be married" Osa starts "...to the
Seafare family" she ends
It then became abundantly
clear why Osa was so upset...certainly this was a perplexing turn
of events, as each sister recalls the memories of the 'Seafare'
family, sending a cringe down each sisters spine. Unlike most
nobles the Seafare family of Rihad could care less what people
thought of them, and for good reason.
The family were
anything but the flawless graceful people that were attending this
ball...instead being on the obese, obnoxious, pompous side of the
spectrum. Baron D'marko Seafare, was a bloated overly repulsive
mass of flesh topped off by the wort on his face, half the size of
his puffy cheeks, and the two strands of six-inch long gray hairs
that hung by his face like a pair of earrings. The absolute stench
of death that eminated from his mouth when he spoke to you could
make an Ogrim cry, and the yellow, black, and gray smile that usually
followed could cause even the strongest of stomachs to think twice
about keeping breakfast down. Though he was Redguard by blood a
lack of proper hygiene had left him smelling and multicolored, his
hands the stickiest most degusting things each sister had ever
seen.
Baroness Seafare was no better in the plumpness
department, yet her massive bosom would have you think otherwise.
Osa had remembered as a child being horrifyied to be near her,
scraed that one of her breasts would strike her upon the head,
killing her instantly. Though in her youth she may have been the
envy of every woman she knew, that was a far-cry from the
three-chinned gargantuan woman she had become now. All she cares
about now-a-days is her sweet, sweet daughter Tareva...and about
whats for dinner.
Tareva meanwhile was probably no
different then how the sisters remembered her. A hell spawn of a
child since the moment she was conceived, and didnt grow as a
person as she matured. She was obese, same as the rest of her
family, but such a spoiled one. When and if she didnt have her way
(which rarely happened as Ora remembered it) she would throw
herself on the ground, despite where ever she happened to be at the
time, and proceed to squeal like a pig at slaughter until someone
finally gave her her way. 'Spoiled' is to nice a word to describe
the now mature girls behavior, although each sister doubted the
tantrums had ceased.
And finally there was the most
disgusting, unkept, blob of a man that ever lived named D'onni
Seafare. It would be D'onni that Osa would be marrying and the very
thought of such an endeavor made her stomach turn completely over.
Like the rest he was a big man, yet years of laziness and lack of
excercise had left him much more obese then the rest. The putrid
stink of just thinking about his musk made each sister grit their
teeth. Not to mention the fact that his feet were never cleaned,
and were now probably darker then nightfall.
When the
sisters were sent to stay with the Seafares as children, it was
always a journey of dread. The manor the family lived in looked
nice enough on the outside but it was the inside that caused the
sisters panic. Once through the door the sisters senses were
immediately bombarded by a wide range of nasty scents and foul
images. The floor of the manor was garbage ridden and filled with
peril, though not enough to detour the maggots and worms swimming
through the various piles of rotting food and discarded trash.
Where a normal family of nobles would keep silverware or other
valuble eatery, in this house the shelves were filled with mildewey
dishes, each more rot with mold then the last, a plethora of greens
and blacks makes it hard to assertain exactly what material the
dishes used to be.
The walls are splatted with numerous
pastes and sprays of oranges and reds the sisters had been too
horrified to determine what they were as children. The desks and
various tables are overflowing with papers, crumbs, bugs, and all
other manner of ill filths. Thinking back now, Osa later
determines, the house was actually worse then the Sewers, Scourg
Barrow, and Lasthold combined...probably easier to navigate to.
It
used to be a game when they stayed to see how long the newest maid
would last, though not many could stand the smell for too long. I
was one scent from the rotting garbage and the messy house...it was
a much different smell when a person was immenating a more rank
scent. Neither sister wanted to experience that again...ever.
"So
what are you going to do?" Ora asks
"I have no
idea...kill father I suppose" Osa says melodramatically
"Why
you though? Dont you find it odd?" Ora questions further
"Not
really" Osa says "...I figure it was because if it were
you, you'd probably terrorize the whole family"
Ora
cracks a grin thinking about D'onni waking up to her sharpening her
Sword every morning, and the undoubtedly menacing smile she would
be wearing
"And things wouldnt be different with
Ota...I actually think it'd be worse" Osa says a look of
concern working its way across her face
"Well...how
long do you have?" Ora investigates
"No
idea...although Treyn said something like a year" Osa begins
"...even though he said the family might attend this
ball"
The prospect of the thought makes Ora cringe
again
"I guess we'll have to deal with it when it
happens" Osa says a gleam of hope in her eye "...c'mon we
should go back downstairs"
With that both sisters
proceed downstairs

"If
you ever wish it, I would be more than happy to recount my
adventures to you," Loranna says after a brief hesitation,
feeling self-conscious. Ah well; the current company didn't seem
big on standing on titles anyway, even if Goranthir rattled off
hers without a hitch.
"I would love that, your Grace,"
Tamrialle smiled, and added with a wink. "As soon as possible.
I am sure there will be many more adventures to come, and
soon."
There were still a few people in the crowd
behind them, and Goranthir excused the three of them, so others
would have a chance to greet the couple. As they did, Tamrialle and
Geldall met the fairly pompous but very rich Viscount of
Alrorne.
"She didn't have any trouble remembering his
correct title," Goranthir whispered to Loranna, frowning, as
Tamrialle called the Nord "Right Honorable" as is
tradition.
The Emperor meanwhile had been beaming at the
couple, nodding in recognition of old friends, but letting the
night belong to them. The smile had gradually left his face, and he
leaned forward to say something to his son Geldall.
"Do
you want me to come with you, father?"
"No, no,
you should dance," the Emperor said, looking a little pale.
"I'll be fine in just a few minutes."
With that,
the Emperor pardoned himself and with a half dozen of his guards
helping support him, he left the Ball.
In anticipation of
the dance, the orchestra struck up a few chords.

her leave with Rinalla and Goranthir.
At Goranthir's

fair, I couldn't for the life of me remember what her proper
title under the circumstances would be. It was all I could do to
avoid calling her dear in front of the Crown Prince ... still,
observation noted."
Noticing the Emperor heading out,
Loranna wonders what prompted him to take his leave so soon, but
she shrugs it off, saying to Goranthir "Now, Your Royal

Reichi had been, as many others had been, surprised by Geldall's
choice of a wife. It was a smart choice, in all aspects, he
thought, though it still left him mystified as to why there was so
much damn water. He was also glad to see Goranthir at the
celebration, and that the color had returned to him. The news that
Rinnala was going to take up adventuring was a bit surprising
though, following in her brother's footsteps, it seemed.
Reichi
watched others take to the dance floor, and decided to watch.
Though there were alot of noble-folk around, the heros of Ald
Raathim being present probably meant he might get to see a giant
Khajiit trying to dance with someone half his size or something
equally amusing.

Goranthir was not Tris, but he was an
excellent dancer nonetheless; some of those boring lessons in
statecraft evidentally included dancing. Loranna soon lost herself
in the joy of the moment, the ballroom whirling around her as she
danced, Goranthir her center as the two of them glided across the
dance floor.
Loranna mostly kept her promise, though when
Goranthir spun her, she unconsciously let her eyes smoulder and her
hips sway. She behaved herself when they were close together
though.

Loranna had been looking for Slyvos, having
just finished dancing with Goranthir and thinking to herself how
nice the day was turning out to be ....
For a single,
shocked moment, she stares at Gedall's dead body, and at the
triumphant look on Tamrielle's face, and the realization that she'd
been totally fooled by this young woman caused her own heart to
stop for several long beats. The whole evening came crashing down
around her amid the screams of the panicked guests, the battle
cries of the assassins, and the snarling threats of the guards.
Then, as an armored foe came within her line of sight, a
single thought passed through her mind.
I will KILL that

She didn't have her weapons or her armor, but she
chanted the words to a shield spell, the magicka flowing sluggishly

Dayla, meanwhile,

This party's gotten wild!" She likewise casts a shield spell
on herself and on Reichi, not suffering from Loranna's lack of

He didn't
care if he broke the rules about spellcasting, which he was not

Amid the chaos, Shaka noticed a few nobles were starting to Recall
or use Intervention scrolls. He was suddenly struck by a thought:
By the gods, we've got to get Helseth and the others out of here
too. Barenziah, Dinara . . . Not to mention the Duchess and
Glacia.
But Shaka also shouted "Anya!" and
looked around for her before giving up. No time, and she could take
care of herself anyway. Not to mention someone like Helseth could,
with his fabled ring and who knew what other resources.
The
assassins, whoever they were, wore a scarlet and metal armor that
reminded Shaka vaguely of Ra'Gada design somehow, though he
suspected they were from nowhere near Sentinel. Shaka unleashed the
Adrenaline Rush and the battle seemed to go into a dreamlike
slowness.
He slashed one cultist's throat, nearly
decapitating him, and crushed the skull of a second with the Bound
mace. Shaka called up a frost atronach but was careful to order it
to only attack the assassins. Damn it, there were just too many
civilians here . . . .
Still in the slow-motion perception
of the Rush, Shaka noticed several assassins converging on a
middle-aged noble. He couldn't get to Ebel in time as the Emperor's
son was stabbed over and over, a third assassin holding his head
under a fountain pool until he stopped thrashing. Shaka saw the
threads of crimson eddying in the fountain as Ebel slumped
lifelessly into the pool.

Diamond's last dance ended abruptly, her last partner a mingling
murderer.
The beautiful bride-to-be had been close enough
to brush against Diamond only minutes before, and here she stood
revealed to be a conspirator - and successful.
Diamond had
never thought her training would be needed so soon. The heavy
silver walking stick she leaned on (a sapphire set in its head)
became a defensive staff as she incompetently warded off anyone who
got too close, whatever their role in this chaos.
Strangely,
her first rational thought was, Goran has a new girlfriend;
and she shoved her way through the crowd to find him.

There was wrath and determination and pain in Nalion's expression
as he rushed through the ballroom, wielding fire and lightning. The
path he took led him closer to the fighting, the place where
Geldall had been murdered, and where Enman and Ebel had stood.
Fighting was all around the mage, many of the guests taken by
surprise. Panic had followed, and confusion and chaos. Women were
shrieking, noblemen - dressed for dance and not for combat -
fervently tried to find weapons against the assassins heavy armour.
The ring of steel against steel, palace guards against armoured
murderers.
Nalion ran, then he saw him. Enman was fighting,
holding a candelabra and trying to fend off the blows of an
assassin, his two bodyguards swinging their blades against two more
enemies.
Nalion cried out a warning and stopped, pointing an arm
at the assassin assaulting Enman, then the mage incanted a fire
spell. The bolt shot out of his outstretched palm and engulfed the
assassin, the heat burning the enemy alive. For a moment, Enman
seemed to relax, then there was a flash of a blade close to
him.
There was a woman standing behind the prince, clad in
ball garments and wielding a dagger. Another flash of the small
blade and an eyeblink later, a red streak of blood appeared across
Enman's throat. Uriel VII's son stared in shock, his hands moving
towards his throat, then, Enman fell to his knees.
The woman
flimmered as she stood over her victim, and her gown was replaced
with the fearsome armour of the assassins. She lifted her bloodied
blade high into the air...
"BEHOLD THE BLOOD OF THE
DRAGON! THE BLOOD TIDE SHALL COME! NU-MANTIA! LIBERTY!
Loranna
Apr 7 2006, 07:37 PM
Lucidity set into Loranna's mind for a brief second, as she
realized the sheer number of innocent civilians that were milling
about, including important people, heads of state, the remaining
heirs and somewhere the Emperor ... she and the others needed to
band together, to save as many people as they could from this
bloodbath, this ...
... and then, three armored assassins
rushed her, and there was no more time to think. If she was to do
anything useful, she had to survive the next few minutes.
She
had none of her enchanted items, none of her potions in her system,
no weapon and no armor; her shield spell buckled under the viscous
assault of bound axes and maces, forcing her back several steps
toward a fountain. One of the assassins pushes his advantage,
lunging at Loranna with his axe, intending to chop her in
twain.
"Fool!" Loranna hisses, twisting to the
side and grabbing his arm. "Give me your strength!" She
may have been rusty from her months in prison, but after long years
of study and adventuring, absorbing magics were as natural to her
as breathing; the assassin slumped in her arms, weak as a kitten,
unable to resist as Loranna twisted him in front of her as a human
shield.
Seemingly uncaring of their companion's plight, the
other two assassins charge Loranna, intending to push her and her
hostage into the fountain to finish her off. She braces herself
against the foundation of the fountain and hisses another spell,
sucking the very life force out of all three of her opponents while
making sure her hostage takes the full brunt of the daedric maces
raining down at her. A skull cracks and the body in Loranna's hand
becomes even more dead weight than before; Loranna pushes the
corpse into the next assassin and raises her arm to ward off a
mace, the impact bringing down her hastily-cast shield.
Snarling,
Loranna grabbed the offending assassin's arm and pulled him
forward, taking advantage of his temporary lack of balance to send
him headfirst into the fountain. Yelling out a plea to the snows
and frosts of her native Skyrim, Loranna engulfs the fountain and
her attackers in a torrent of freezing cold, the fountain's water
freezing and trapping the third assassin's head and shoulders in
ice; he panics as the ice saps his strength, lack of air and
hypothermia conspiring to send him to his death.
More
cautious now, the last assassin calls up a Storm Atronach to deal
with Loranna, its fists crackling with lightning. It claps its
stony hands and unleashes lashing bolts of lightning all around;
Loranna barely gets a spell absorption enchantment up in time to
whether the assault, but with the power gained from that tactic,
she points at the fleeing assassin and finishes him off with a
blast of cold, dismissing the Atronach in the process, though not
before the massive Daedra drives her to her knees with a
double-handed blow ...
Staggering to her feet, Loranna finds
herself facing a fouth assassin, one that was lunging at her with a
bloodied bound dagger; Loranna screams as the dagger slams into her
shoulder, and her vision swims from the blow and the lingering
effects of the daedra's pounding. The assassin, sensing victory,
pulls the blade out and raises it for a finishing blow ...
...
and Loranna throws herself at the assassin and wraps her good arm
around him, her lips pressing against his helm in a passionate,
desperate kiss. The assassin froze in place for a moment - enough
tme for Loranna to get her breath back and whisper "Give me
your life ..." as she embraces the assassin more fully,
becoming aware as she drains the life force from her opponent that
it wasn't a male's chest pressed against hers but a female's
...
The bound armor disappeared in a flash of magic as her
victim expired, leaving the surprised face of Tamrielle staring at
Loranna with sightless eyes. Loranna stares at the woman who almost
killed her for a brief moment, then shakes her head.
"
... I guess I was wrong about you ..." she says, a leaden
weight settling in her chest.
She drops the body and turns
back to the fray; there were other, more important people to be
worried about. Her friends needed help. The heirs and the Emperor
and the civilians needed saving. She needed to get to work.

slaughtering the assassins that came close to him, so far having
taken out 3 himself. The khajiit mage noted how, while his skills
were not what they were before his incarceration, that his magical
skills had not taken as much of a blow as he originally thought.
Such was almost instinctive to him, after all this time.
if
need be I will kill every one of these traitors... finally. he
thought to himself, looking at an incoming attacker with a cold,
heartless gaze as he launched a spell at him that he had not used
in years. He was not sure if it was safe useing it, but at the
moment it as the first that came to his thoughts, as he watched the
specially altered Damage Health spell dissolve the flesh from the
assassin's bones, as a warning to any others that may seek to hurt
him as he makes his way towards the others to lend his aid.

If Diamond had glimpsed the beautiful elf of Firsthold, it was only

hair, it could have been anyone in the melee.
Then, she was
pushed aside in the current of flight. "Goran!" she
shouted desperately. "Goranthir!"
He may have
heard her - if he was even there.
A dagger slashed towards
her, and she stumbled, her blood spraying in an arc from her arm.
Throwing her staff back as she fell, she sensed the silver catching
steel in midswing and knocking it aside.
The assassin's
dagger spun off and lodged itself in the throat of an innocent man,
wealthily clothed, and Diamond was instantly horrified - but
brought back to Nirn by the assassin's charge.
Fumbling
panickedly, Diamond held up her staff for a second block.
Inspiration suddenly came to her, a memory of Marein's bizarre

She activated the staff's enchantment,
unloading a deadly electrical charge into the would-be killer's

Diamond
fled, searching still for Goranthir and the other heroes.

Damnit, where was Anya and Kingston? Dayla thinks to herself as she
weaves between screaming ballgoer and yelling guard alike. In all
this chaos, she couldn't find either of them ...
Few people
thought to go after Dayla, for she made a point of looking like the
assassins whenever she saw them coming for her, and a guard
whenever anyone else came along. Those mortals who she couldn't
disuade with her shapechanging fell victim to her command magics,
finding themselves turning and attacking those few Cyrodiilic
vampires she recognized. Occasionally, she would grab someone who
was dying and help them to a more peaceful death, figuring the
blood she took from them was a fair trade for ending their
suffering mercifully quick - and it kept her bloodlust to a more
manageable level, for in the excitement her vampiric senses were
going wild with the coppery taste of blood on the air.
She
passed by an assassin frozen in a fountain - now there was a clever
idea, she should try it sometime - and saw the lifeless body of one
of the heirs floating in another fountain. Well, that didn't bode
well; it looked like these assassins, whoever they were, had thrown
the Empire for a loop, especially if the third heir was also
dead.
"Uriel should have remarried and made an extra
son or two, just in case," Dayla muttered to herself, before
stopping to consider that that attitude was callous toward the
newborn son. " ... Eh; he should have made sure his sons were
never together in one place at once, then."
"I'll
make certain to tell him that," a reedy voice whispered from
her left, and then a Daedric claymore bit into her side and she
screamed, taking on her snakewoman form despite the crowd and
glaring at the smiling Imperial who was even now licking her blood
from his blade.
" ... You're Bathogorgen," he
said, smiling again. "You should have known better than to
come here."
"You're Cyrodiilic," Dayla shot
back. "You should have known better than to give pause."
She lunged forward with the speed of a cobra, though her opponent
lashed out with inhuman grace and reflexes. Hissing, Dayla and the
vampire fell to the ground, wrestling with one another for a long
moment ....
When she rose from the floor once again, Dayla's
belly was distended, though it was swiftly contracting; with an
evil grin, Dayla went off to find her filia and her friends before
anyone got around to killing them.

he mused. Thank the gods that Loranna's children were nowhere near

"For [censored]'s sake.." Reichi muttered. "She was
a bloody Assassin." Reichi didn't know any spells for bound
weapons, but he did know how to fight unarmed and unarmored, and
that would have to be enough. Then he saw the Cyrodiilics attack,
and cursed again. He rushed forward, running towards the twin
vampires who had sent Kingston flying. He closed the gap quickly
and began throwing a flurry of punches and kicks at the nearest
one. The vampire was caught off guard and received several sound
blows to the head before his brother could respond. Reichi ducked
and weaved out of the blows of the second twin and swept the
vampire's leg out from beneath him as the other one recovered from
the blows to his head. Reichi waited, as the second one got up and
both swung their weapons at him...
Reichi ducked just in
time, and the twin he had given a beating to screamed, and the
other curse. Reichi felt something soak his clothing and hair, and
heard a soft thud followed by a clatter as a hand with a dagger
held in it dropped to the floor. Reichi dove for it and tossed the
hand back to its owner. "I think you dropped this," he
explained. The vampire was much to busy clutching his bloody stump
and was slapped by his own hand, just as Reichi blocked the other's
blade with the borrowed dagger. The two fought for several moments,
blocking and striking neither landing a blow. Until the other
brother threw a spell at the two fighters, and Reichi leapt back.
The lightning spell sent Reichi's opponent to his knees,
his blade clattering to the floor, while the other vampire cursed.
Reichi quickly took advantage of the situation, he rushed the
kneeling Vampire and buried his brother's dagger in his throat,
stealing his blade from where it had fallen. The remaining brother
stepped away, the angry glow of fire spell on his remaining hand.
The Vampire thrust his arm forward, launching the spell,
Reichi responded by throwing the dagger.
The Dagger struck
the spell seconds after it left the Cyrodiilic's hand. The burnt
body hit the floor seconds later, after screaming in pain. "Of
course, he had to bleed on me..." Reichi muttered, looking at
his clothing.

Eight brawny assassins armed with bound axes and swords
charged the group.
"Or a retreat retreat," Kethiah
said, pulling down the tapestry between them to give the heroes a
moment.
"Anya! Reichi!" Loranna cries,
but depsite herself Kethiah's words were hard to deny ...
"All
right," she says, hating herself. "People, get moving!"
She casts Fortify Speed spells for the group. "To that gate,
then?" she asks, staring in the direction Nalion indicated.

Kratos cast a weak but effective lightning
spell at one of the assassins as the curtain bought them some
time.
"I say we get out of here before we bite off more
than we can chew." The Dunmer suggested.

Shaka broke into a run with the others.
Trying to keep from choking up, he said: "Anya can take care
of herself; go invisible, look like anyone. I hope." How had
this day of joy gone so wrong? Had it been like this when the Blue
Dawn erupted?

"Any direction, just go!" Kethiah
cried, slashing at one of the assassins as the group ran for the
arched doorway, amid the sea of chaos. Goranthir helped clear the
path with a well aimed wave of the Kynarine.

"They can handle themselves, Loranna."
He said reassuringly, as he made a run for it as the others were.
He would have loved to kill the assassins, but right now there were
more important things to do then vindicate a treachery.

As the Chaos ensured, Faryon had found his date, Alyssia after battling his way through the ballroom. His next task was escape. He cast Ageis around him and Alyssia, and quickly ran towards the door... Faryon knew a host of Destruction and Alteration spells to go with his Heavy Armour and Blade skills, however, many of his Destruction skills were Area Effect, the only one he could use without harming anyone other than the intended target were Touch Spells...

The heores flee through the arched door and down the stairs
therein, following a winding passage that leads gradually north and
east. The magnificient architecture of the Palace gives way to a
grittier, grimier brown stone, festooned with mildew, and the air
grows dank and stale as the party continues further.
Loranna,
Nalion, and Slyvos realize it first, as they make their way down
into the dimmed chambers; the passageway led to the dungeons. The
sounds of metal clanging against metal, the mutterings of prisoners
and the scittering of rats, confirmed the realization for the three
who had been in these very halls but some hours before.
Other
noises echo through the hallways as the party flees; sounds of
pursuit dog their footsteps, though strangely, none of the
assassins seem to be behind the group when people look back. Twice,
the group can swear they hear walls moving somewhere beyond them,
and at one point they find themselves passing through a secret
doorway that had been left slightly ajar, leading deeper into thr
dungeons.
It soon became hard to keep track of their
direction; the Dungeon looked the same no matter which way you
looked. All sense of time vanished after a short while as well; it
seemed like hours that the group stumbled its way through the maze
of passageways ...
Then, finally, voices from somewhere
ahead float to the party's ears:
"... lock that gate
behind us ..."
"My sons ... they're dead aren't
they?"
"We don't know that sire ... said they were
attacked."
"No ... they're dead; I know it
..."

What follows beyond this point, is
another story. One which will be told at a later date.
This,
good prisoner, is but one tale of what came before your star did
rise; others would tell the story differently and none can say
whose tale is the most true, but none of that matters now. None of
this will be remembered when your tale is told.
Take the
Amulet of Kings; let it not fall into the hands of the Prince of
Destruction. There is one yet who can wear it. Find him, and close
shut the marble jaws ...
... of OBLIVION!
