Hello everyone,
I'm starting this RP off with an
announcement before the rules.
This new chapter of the RP, I
predict, will be a short one, focusing solely on the conflict which
we have set up over the past few months. We will see how well the
heroes of Ald Raathim fare against the ever-encroaching death that
awaits in the west.
This will also be the
last RP chapter for our role play during the time period between
Morrowind and Oblivion; after War of the Wormgod has
finished, there will be a reflections and epilogue thread to tie up
any loose ends and to set the scene for our characters in the final
days before the events of Oblivion, and then the RP will take a
haitus for a month or two, while we all play the new game till the
wheels fall off.
Since we are entering the grand finale of
our pre-Oblivion RP campaign, I am hereby stating that we
are not accepting any new players until after we start up again
post Oblivion. We apologize for this arbitrariness, but
it's not a good idea trying to shoehorn new faces into the plot
when you're playing out the last battle. Everyone will be welcome
once we start up again.

QUOTE
Hello,
and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we
adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before
we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
Loranna's
Roleplay, while an open roleplay where everyone is invited to join,
is not a limitless or unregulated game. There are rules we have set
ourselves that make roleplaying easier and more enjoyable for
everyone of us. Please take the time and read the following
guidelines carefully and, more importantly, act according to
them.
1. Have fun!
2. Fun does not mean
you can do whatever you want, though.
Let us please
clarify some points. While everyone is welcome to join in, they are
NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let's be very clear about what cannot be done
without permission:
Affecting other characters:
Any
action that effects another person's character, for ill or good.
Although most people realize they can't harm another person's
character without permission, many don't realize that you can't
HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters
have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise
fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the
player involved.
Major Events:
Any event that
would drastically change things that have been done to the world,
whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political(converting a population to a new cause), military
(killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every
situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some
reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT
FIRST with the group.
For the purpose of coordinating this
RP, backstage fun and discussing current and future events, we have
established a chatroom on chatspike.net, chatroom #Loranna_RP. We
strongly recommend that you have a glimpse in there, since it is
the easiest and most convenient way to discuss characters and
settings, explain rules, plan and give you the background
information you need to play in this RP. If you cannot get on
the channel for some reason, or if the player whose character you
would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this
board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
If you do
not have MIRC, you can Go
To This Link. Enter in a nickname where prompted and hit
Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust the signed applet. Hit
Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From there, type
/join #Loranna_RP You'll enter our chat channel and we can
talk to you.
Here are various other rules, tips and
information you should take time to read before joining this
RP:
1. Background History:
Loranna's
RP has accumulated a rich background history. Of course, no-one can
know all that has happened in this RP, but it is important that you
have at least an idea about the major events that took place during
the last one-and-a-half years. There are a few posts of Loranna
that explain the history of the RP from her character's viewpoint
and a summary of the events in the RP is in progress, you can find
them Here.
. Another summary is available as text file from Nalion, please
ask via our chatspike channel or per PM to Nalion for the time
being. We are working on a more permanent solution to provide this
information.
The chatroom #Loranna_RP on chatspike is
probably the best and fastest way to get yourself informed about
the RP, just ask the moderators and long-time players there if you
need any information. They will gladly help you. It is also very
advisable to read up on the most recent posts and threads to become
a grasp of what is happening right now in the RP. This will
significantly help you in finding a way to join the action and will
reduce the probabiliy of mistakes.
2. Reading and
catching up on the RP:
We're a dedicated lot of players,
and we love this RP. This means we put a lot of effort in our
posts, do a lot of planning and discussing to create our plotlines.
This requires time and dedication. And we require this of you as
well. This means, take your time to read the posts of the other
players and take the time to catch up on the plot if it progressed
while you were away. This simplifies your rejoin into the action.
It is also a sign of respect to the other players. If you don't
have the time to read their posts, why should they bother with
yours, then?
Again, please let me repeat this, for it is
very important. If you are not able or willing to put time and at
least reasonable effort in this RP, think again whether you want to
join this RP or not.
3. Gathering information
Gather
information about the RP, be it asking in chat, by reading older
posts and getting up to date on the history or by asking via PM.
No-one can know everything, sure, but everyone can ask about what
happened. We're glad to assist! Again, this can not be done without
some interest in the ongoings in the RP, effort and a good bit of
dedication.
4. Roleplaying
Roleplaying doesn't
just involve making your character say something (in-character
chat). It also has a descriptive element. Motions and emotions of
your character, worries, joys, mimics, movements... we want to see
them! Describe how your character acts, this gives you a better
grasp of your character and will help your fellow players build up
a relationship to your character. It's not only action and big
fights we have here in this RP, there is a major social aspect to
it as well.
5. Posting
Try to take your time
to post. Yes, we are aware that there are hectic scenes, like in
big combats, where some things move faster, but is it in general a
good idea to look over your post again to check it. Yes, we know it
sounds stupid and obvious, but please care about spelling,
punctuation and grammar. They are not just things you learned in
school once to forget afterwards. We are no decryption experts.
Those grammar rules have their meaning, and there are tools out
there to help you(word spell checker for example). Again, the chat
is a perfect way to ask for
time and coordinate with other
players if you have problems.
6. Character control /
multiple characters
Once more, about controlling
characters that belong to other players: You cannot control a
character that is not your own (with a few exceptions, like having
talked to the player of the character beforehand). This means
most of the time the following:
* In combat, you can only
try to attack another character, but whether you hit him or
how much damage is inflicted is up to the player of the character,
and only him/her.
* This applies to healing or helping the
character as well; feel free to try and offer help to a character,
but let the other player describe the effects of the
healing/helping.
* Especially in combat, you have to work
closely with the other players, the chatroom is the best and
easiest method to discuss these things.
Another thing
related to this topic is referring or speaking to other characters
whose players are not online. If possible, try to avoid involving
characters when their player is not present. It ties down your
character while waiting for the other player to come back, and you
don't know whether the respective player has other plans when he is
back.
Additionally, avoid generating scenes where you
involve a character, affect him with an action and finish the
action before the player can react (stealing, attacking, casting
spells or similar actions). Example: No running up to someone, rob
him and run away to safety all in one post. This is a no
go.
Controlling multiple characters. We have no
written limits on how many characters you may control; the limit is
you. In general, it is very advisable that you stick to one
character when you are new to RPing. When creating a character, it
is VERY important that you consider your character carefully.
Again, this has something to do with effort and dedication. It is
generally a bad sign if you join up, post a couple of posts and
then say you are bored with this character and make a new one.
Other players might get annoyed greeting and introducing their
characters to a new character when it is obvious that this
character will not last long because the player gets bored with the
new character. This RP is a social RP as well, and it is very
difficult to socialize with a character that is badly played, where
you can see by the style of writing that the player is already
bored with the character and will throw him away at the next
opportunity. RPing is all about characters and your character is
your "representative" in this RP, your voice, your arm,
your mind. Please take this into account when creating and playing
your character.
As a general rule of thumb, use only one
character until you feel comfortable with him, can control him,
have fun with him and the character is established in the RP. The
rest will run automatically after a while when you get more
confident and experienced in RPing.
7. Secret
plans
Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for
anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody
knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because
nobody knew about them. Examples: Your character suddenly remembers
that he has a castles all over Tamriel and calls in troops to help.
Or: Your character suddenly reveals he is a spy of the Emperor and
knows everything.
8. Ingame consequences of character
actions:
Morrowind the game was rather lenient when it
came to direct consequences after a character's action. This is not
the case in our RP. There are laws and local customs, and there are
guards and other authorities that are there to enforce them. So,
starting tavern brawls, stealing, murdering, open assault and all
other related actions are very likely to be persecuted and punished
(this can go up from your character ending up in jail, being
banished or to be executed). This doesn't mean that there are no
murders or thefts in the RP, but it does mean that if you do that,
be aware of the consequences your character will have to deal with.
9. Additional helpful information:
Please
make sure that you read the following post of Allerleirauh Here,
dealing with some of the above mentioned rules, as well as the
hints on character generation done by Loranna Here.
Please take the above mentioned rules and information into careful
consideration, they will help you in joining this RP quickly and
are useful to avoid problems. And more importantly: act according
to them!
** Not following the above advice will only
result in two things: your post is likely to be completely ignored
by everyone else as if it did not happen and/or you are asked to
leave the RP. This is obviously not good for anyone, so please,
discuss major events before doing them and act according to the
rules mentioned above. **
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary:
Mannimarco imploded the last remaining Blightstone, and somehow the
heroes that had been fighting his forces got pulled into Loranna's

they did before ...

P'Rassha
was waiting for that moment. In events like these, the huge Khajiit
knows when to talk and when to wait. The time to wait was over, and
the time to talk just began.
"Come, friends, come.
Tonight, let P'Rassha make you night confortable. Let P'Rassha's
tale transform this creepy night into an adventure to remember."
Lord Darius is organizing people who
volunteer for the story telling, and has candles brought out. "Now,
the tradition has it that in the old days, people told these tales
to one another to drown out the voices of the walking dead, but
light was needed to keep the dead away. Therefore, you had to tell
your tale before the candles burned too low, or else the light
would dim and the dead would get inside. So, when you tell your
tale, you must do it before the candle burns to the stem, and then
use it to light the next candle ..."
Hearing P'Rassha's
offer, Lord Darius gratefully hands him a candle. "Thank you,
friend; will you do us the honor of starting us off, then?"

Summary for P'Rassha:
The huge Cathay-raht khajiit was
within Loranna's dream and tried to distract the minds of the
manor's resident with a of his story.
P’Rassha made
sure that everyone was confortable, and started his story without
further notice.
“P’Rassha once went to the
library of Archen Grangrove, a medium-sized costal city of
Summerset Isles. The Altmers are knowledgeable fellows, and even
the smallest of their settlements include at least a small library.
The library of Archen Grangrove was nothing compared to the library
of Firsthold, and even less to the imperial library in the Capital
City of Cyrodiil, but it contained some rare documents. P’Rassha
was travelling with Violetta and Joalsonn a few years ago.”
At
the mention of Violetta and Joalsonn, P’Rassha had difficulty
to keep his composure, but as a good storyteller, he managed to
hide almost all his feeling about his two lost friends.
“Friend
Violetta and Joalsonn had good reasons to believe a rare book about
an ancient myth concerning Anu and Pandomy could be found at this
specific library. P’Rassha didn’t know anything about
Violetta’s project, and didn’t understand really the
myth outside those of Mother Ahnissi. Thus, P’Rassha wandered
between the shelves filled with books and carelessly looked at the
books while Violetta the scholar and her future husband were
searching for their book.
After several hours of wander,
P’Rassha’s sight crossed a mysterious book. It was an
old, battered book. The damage of the years were apparent both on
his cover and on his pages, but P’Rassha still don’t
know why, P’Rassha was attracted by it like a cliffracer to
adventurers. P’Rassha knew Violetta had still several hours
of search behind her, maybe the rest of the night, so P’Rassha
grabbed the book and found a confortable chair on which to sit and
read. Confortable is maybe exaggerated. All the chairs and tables
were made for the tall Altmers, but even the taller of the High
Elves is smaller than the smallest of the Cathay-raht, thus
P’Rassha found the less uncomfortable chair of the whole
library and started to read.”

Summary
Nalion
Nalion is dead. At least, he should
be, by all rights. Mannimarco himself had set a trap for the heroes
and destroyed the last Blightstone, thus causing a surge that
sucked the heroes into a strange and surreal dreamworld that had
taken the shape of the Hearthfire Ball of Lord Darius, the very
beginning of Loranna's adventure.
After saving children from an
out-of-control coach and from undead monsters, Nalion is now back
in Darius's manor, watching the proceeding, but still thinking of
how to return to the real world and defeat Mannimarco.
Dana
and Gistral
Dana and Gistral are with the army they were
assigned to and are fighting overwhelming odds. The battle is at
it's height, and the undead are on the advance. The fighting is
ugly, direct, bloody, cruel and there is no mercy...

Summary: Shaka, a Ra'Gada battlemage, is caught in a waking dream
for now, one of a score of adventurers, along with Loranna.
Shaka
sat next to the younger Loranna, still a Nord in appearance. He
looked over at her fondly but with a little wariness for the
daedroth Azura within her.
P'Rassha had a rare gift, the
storyteller's knack. Shaka had never seen him fail to remember one,
usually one appropriate to the day.
The battlemage glanced
over at the quiet Anya; looked for the real, more mature Loranna,
who couldn't be seen at the moment; at the Bathogorgen vampire
Dayla; and all the others. Despite the nightmarish day that had
passed, he counted himself fortunate.

"The book was written by a mage named Xarxes. A wizard of an
era long lost in the memory of man. It was a book about the Daedra,
their power and how to claim the power of the Daedra for yourself.
It was an interesting read, but quite a disturbing one, too.
The
book itself was simple, but as the story unfolded, P'Rassha had the
impression the book wasn't talking about the past, but about the
future. Many events cited in the book as examples of men grasping
the power of the Daedra were neither of the first, second or third
era. It was about a time where daedra walked freely in the land, a
land without any leader, without any emperor or king. If this was
trully a prophetic book, or only the divagations of a crazy old
mage, P'Rassha didn't know, but as soon as P'Rassha closed the
bookand noticed at the back a small carving without the leathery
cover. Two words unknown by P'Rassha at the time: Oghma
Infinium.
Violetta and Joansonn stopped their
searching at that time and the three of us went back to the inn
were we had rent chambers for the stay at Archen Grangrove. The
next day, Violetta and Joansonn went back at the library, but
P'Rassha went for swimming. P'Rassha's travels to a coastal city
were rare, and unlike many cats, P'Rassha likes to swin. P'Rassha
went into the sea, and found a small island on which enjoy the rest
of the day. P'Rassha laid down of the sand and felt asleep."

P'Rassha continued:
"When P'Rassha woke up, the island
was different. It was still as beautiful as before, but in the
middle of the small body of sand now stood a great statue made from
ebony, maybe even daedric.
The shape of the statue was
really weird. The common deadric statues represented Azura,
Mehrunes Dagon, Sheogorath and even Boethiah, but this statue was
different. It had no clear shape. It wasn't humanoid, it didn't
look like any beast P'Rassha knew. It was vaguely ressembling a
Sload, but even more chaotic in its shape than a Sload. It had
ears, eyes and mouth everywhere around its body, and the statue
represented him engulfing small humanoid figures ressembling
humans. According to their weapons and armors, P'Rassha guessed
they were Nords. And, without warning, the statue talked to
P'Rassha. With a voice as if thousands of people talked to P'Rassha
at the exact same time, with the exact same voice. It was all
around P'Rassha. It gave me a direct order. Violetta was looking
for a book, a book called : "The great ancestors". She
wasn't allowed to ever see that book. If Violetta's eyes even once
crossed that book, the future of the world would be changed into an
horror. If P'Rassha managed to stop Violetta's research before it
was too late, and came back with the book to the statue, P'Rassha
would be rewarded."
P'Rassha smiled
innocently.
"Although P'Rassha should have known that
you never trust a daedra prince, P'Rassha was afraid of the
consequences if Violetta found the book she was looking
for.
P'Rassha went back to the city of Archen Grangrove as
fast as he could and ran into the library. There, he found Violetta
digging through piles of scrolls while Joansonn, a few meters away,
was searching in a shelf filled with ancient books. P'Rassha and
Joansonn noticed it at the same time. THE book. "The great
ancestor". The book Violetta was looking for. The deadra
clearly stated that if Violetta sees the book, the future of the
mortals was doomed. With a burst of speed only known by him,
P'Rassha casted a chameleon spell, ran towards Joansonn, grabbed
the book and leapt through a window. It all happened so fast
Joansonn didn't identify who was the thief before it was too
late."
P'Rassha made a pause in his story...It was
clear to the audience, the exciting part was coming.
"But
at the very moment P'Rassha went through the window of the library
of Archen Grangrove, the book that lied within P'Rassha's arm
wasn't "The great ancestors" anymore. It was "Oghma
Infinium".
P'Rassha was puzzled. How could such a thing
happened. P'Rassha didn't have to think very long, because only a
few seconds after he escaped from the library, several monsters
emerged from the shadows and attack P'Rassha. Vermai. They were
Vermai.
For those who don't know what a Vermai is, let
P'Rassha explain it to you. They are green-skinned humanoid, but
with multi-segmented legs and arms. In effect, it is as if they had
3 or 4 knees and elbows. They are quick, deadly, but incredibly
stupid. Once they are given an order, they carry it until their
death.
And they were attacking P'Rassha. Why? It was clear
to P'Rassha, they wanted the book. P'Rassha drew his axe and
dispatched them. It wasn't really hard. P'Rassha moved faster than
the Vermai and was a lot stronger. In effect, every single axe
strike P'Rassha made cutted a Vermai in two. P'Rassha didn't have
to change the tactic even once in the fight. They were just
stupid."

"And now, P'Rassha really didn't know what to do. The book
"Oghma Infinium" had something special in it, really
special, but P'Rassha was still afraid of what would happen if
Violetta saw it. Thus, P'Rassha continued to run, far away from the
library, but at the same time, far away from the island on which
the daedra waited.
P'Rassha found a dark alley in which he
could think, he opened the book and read it. Maybe he could find
information in it. And, no matter how strange it may look, P'Rassha
did found information in it. P'Rassha was about to die. In two
minutes, burglars were about to attack P'Rassha by surprise, kill
him and steal all his belongings. It was written in the
book.
P'Rassha looked around, and with his eyes of night,
did notice two shadowy figure stalking in the shadow. He rose back
to his feet and approached. The two of them fled without asking for
more. When he sat down to read the book even more, P'Rassha wasn't
able to find the page where the information about his attack would
be found. It was if the page never existed. He decided to read even
more, and now, he learned his life was endangered by the Altmers
themselves. A murder was made, and P'Rassha was about to be
arrested as the main suspect. And, just like the first time, the
book prediction became true. He noticed a bunch of Altmer guard
coming in his direction. Without losing a minute, he fled.
For
three days, P'Rassha escaped 23 death situations he would have
never managed to escape without the help of the book. Unfortunatly,
he didn't had the time to do anything else than to read the book.
His life was in danger so many times a day, P'Rassha had to read
without taking any pose, in fear that death strikes at that very
moment.
3 days without sleeping and eating, and with mininal
water supply. P'Rassha was about to become crazy from paranoia.
Everything was there to kill him, except for the book that helped
him so much to survive."

then the advise of the book became orders. Not only did P'Rassha's
life was threatened by everything around him, but in order to
survive, to book order P'Rassha to kill some people. An Altmer
guard, a Nord barbarian, and so on and so forth. The orders were
numerous and bloody.
But P'Rassha was ready to kill to
protect his life. The first victim was to be a Bosmer spellcaster
and a Nord scholar. That would be relatively easy, considering none
of them were P'Rassha's match, but they threatened P'Rassha's life
nonetheless.

Vaan's Summary:
Vaan is
fighting a desperate battle with the Kalaan army, he is trying to
put in action an agreed plan, but it it has been hard to do
anything but defend against the massive hordes of undead, even
if they do have the collective intelligence of a braindead
guar.
He uppercuts the zombie directly in front of him,
tearing the fragile and rotten flesh into two halves, out of which
various stinking and steaming bodily fluids gush. He then casts
another large turn undead spell, giving him and the men around him
a brief time space in which to recover before the hordes begin to
shuffle back again.
This was impossible...

The Battle for Ramakawan
QUOTE
The
army from the east made their way through the blackened wastes of
the jungle valley into the low foothills. With the death aura gone,
they could survive, and the land would eventually live again ...
But at this moment, all was death around them.
The scouts
brought news of the approaching zombie army, and Digitus Eros,
while continuing the march, brought the factional commanders to
him.
"The news is bad," he said. "We had
expected resistance, but Mannimarco's forces are larger than we
expected. Much larger."
When this battle goes into the history
books, it will be one of disorganization and chaos...if indeed any
of the Advance forces Ota had been with had any sort of commander
now would be the time for him or her to speak up...from Ota's
perspective it appears that the group she's with and the rest of
the Allied Army are practically cut in two as the Undead hordes
come at them full force, with seemingly endless reserves.
So
far in the last thirty seconds Ota's watched the left flank fall
apart, uncountable numbers cut down, and more then a few Allied
Soldiers fleeing for their lives, causing morale to lower
astronomically...the now group Ota's with consists of a Barbarian,
a Spellsword, a Healer, and a half dozen or so wet-behind-the-ears
rookie Archers trying to contain the Undead outbreak on a small
rising hill...Ota knows though, at this rate they'll be overrun in
no time

The Real Tamriel: Deep in the Dragontail Mountains
The
forces from Ramakawan and Kalaan faced a difficult battle. Their
enemy was legion, and while zombies and skeletons lacked even the
basic intelligence of a common foot soldier, Mannimarco had taken
steps to ensure his forces were well-led. The King of Worms was
served by liches, former men and women who has sacrificed their
natural lives for the chance to perfect their magical or martial
skills for all eternity; arrayed in armor and robes with sundered
circles proeminently, mockingly displayed, these monstrosities
possessed centuries of cunning in addition to their formidable
skills and innate powers.
Beyond these undead commanders,
however, were the true monstosities; the corpsapedes, the lumbering
giant skeletons carefully constructed from many other creatures,
the starving vampires that had been given a charm to heal the
damage fromthe sun and unleashed like rabid war dogs, and worst of
all, the trio of bone dragons, each personally smarting from their
ignomious defeat earlier and hungry for revenge.
Even now,
the forces that had left from Kalaan had firey death rained upon
them from the sky, both smaller dragons raking the army with fire
while lumbering corpse giants bore hissing liches into battle,
flinging curses of weakness to flame and pestilent diseases upon
the living. The army from Ramakawan, meanwhile, faced off against
the three hundred foot long bone dragon that had meant to crush
Sentinel, its eyeless sockets blazing with unnatural rage as it
attacked, seemingly intent on destorying the mortal armies itself.
Below the raging dragon, the Knights of the Sundered Circle took
advantage of the chaos the dragon caused, directing their troops to
strike hard where the lines faltered.
About the only break
the living armies seemed to have, was that most of Mannimarco's
soldiers were astonishingly ill-equipped. Their armaments consisted
primarily of wooden clubs, broken spears, and in more than a few
cases their own severed limbs. It was as though something had gone
and ripped most of the metal from the undeads' grasp, leaving them
a bit toothless - but their numbers and monsters made up for
it.
The combined forces of Tamriel fought back with all
the ferocity of the desperate, however, refusing to give up. If
they lost here, then every living thing in the Empire lost as well.
No one wished to spend all eternity as a moaning puppet of the
Wormgod ...

Loranna's Dream
Shaka looked at the undead outside
the manor windows; did they seem wistful to see the living, or was
it his imagination? He winced and looked away.
While it was
good to relax for a moment and take part in the tradition of Tales
and Tallows, Shaka couldn't help turning over the events of the day
in his mind. Finally he sought out the Duchess and waited for a
break in the stories.
Shaka then told her of the chase to
stop the carriage and save the children; of the dead driver,
mockingly made to look like the Banker; and of the coffin, which
held a corpse in Mannimarco's likeness.
"I know that .
. . the Banker . . . can't be understood in human terms; he's the
embodiment of Madness. But what should we do now? Are we just
playthings for him, or does he in some way want to help mortals
defeat Mannimarco?"

The Ramakawan Forces - Gistral
The
Altmeri mage group alongside with Gistral had fought, still held
the hill. Barely. The flanks were almost surrounded, defended by
Imperial legionaires in chain mail armour. Their fighting skill in
a military body was remarkable, holding their formation and facing
the undead with the skill only hard-trained professionals would
show. However, even against these ill-equipped undead, all of them
would eventually fail against the looming dark silhouette that was
the undead dragon.
"Nine... where are those catapults?",
Gistral shouted, ducking the blow of a zombie wielding a severed
leg, then the Redguard's silver blade slashed out to behead the
undead monstrosity.
"They're overdue! The Legions
should have set them up by now!", came the answer from an
Altmer nearby, a grim faced warrior, his golden skin covered with
blood and substances that Gistral better not thought about.
"Damn
it, we need them NOW!", he shouted, charging into another
undead.
Then, there was a fizzing sound in the air and
seconds later, a barrage of burning hot tar fell down on the second
line of the undead...

Whileothers continue to tell tales in the
main manor room, Loranna listens to Shaka's recount, and she shows
concern when the Ra'Gada mentions the likeness of Mannimarco. She
smiles at the end, though, and says "Thank you for helping
them ... and you say my younger self tried to help as well? That
gladens my heart too ..."
She pauses and considers
Shaka's question. "For right now, we continue trying to figure
out how to wake from this dream," she says. "I've a
suspiscion that the doG will keep us here until the final dance; he
feels I owe him a waltz. But I see no point in not trying to find
our own way out while we wait for him to make his dramatic
entrance, and to do whatever we can while we're here."
"As
for why he's done this ..." Loranna shrugs. "I wouldn't
pretend to have a clue ..."
At that point, Loranna,
Shaka, and others can hear the younger Loranna's voice rise up,
surprisingly strong for a simple barmaid's voice ...
"There
was once a woman, who wanted nothing more than to love and be loved
by all. Living in her palace above the clouds she grew enchanted by
the sight of people laughing, loving one another, making beautiful
things and daring to reach for the stars, and she wanted nothing
more than to be the reason they laughed and loved, and built and
dreamed. How wonderful it would be, to be the reason for so much
happiness and joy!"
"So the woman reached down
from her palace above the clouds, and to those who reached up to
her, she bestowed upon them every happy thing she could think. She
told them secrets to guide their dreams and shared her games so
that they may play together, and she saw that some of these people
were sad and homeless and she offered to show them a place where
they could stay and bring about all the happy things the woman so
wished to see. And she laughed when they laughed and frowned when
they cried and she asked 'Why do you cry? Here, take this and be
happy ...'"
===
Shaka sees Loranna frown as she
listens to the story of her younger self ...
===
Loranna-Azura
continues. "The woman thought everything was fine, but there
were those below that cursed her name, cursed any who lived beyond
the clouds, and the woman grew sad and confused. What was
happening? Why did they defile her name and good deeds? Angry, she
lashed out at those who cried the loudest and glowered at the rest,
muttering 'I offered my gifts freely; why then do you turn on
me?'"
"Many voices were raised, to try to explain,
but the woman was still in her palace and not all the words could
reach. And so it went for many years, the woman trying time and
again to make things better, to recapture those happy times, and
growing frustrated when things went wrong ..."
"
... Until one day, one man who had dared to reach for the stars and
who took them in his grasp put on a show and called for all to
come, far and near, and he even invited the woman from her palace
beyond the clouds. Ah, but there was one thing; she had to actually
come down to see this play."
"The woman frowned
and shook her head, for she had seen the man set up his play and
she knew there was something he was hiding, something he was
planning. She had watched this man for so long, and as much as she
loved his daring and charm she knew he could be very, very
ruthless. But something in her heart told her that, this once, she
should leave the castle, no matter what it meant ..."
"So
she climbed down from beyond the clouds and went to the play, and
the man seized her and made her the finale of his show, and in so
doing he brought down the castle and crushed her under the stones,
or so he thought. And maybe he did; he was always a clever one
..."
" ... Still, when everyone had left and the
man resting from his heroic feat, there was one young girl who held
out her hand to the woman whose castle had fallen from beyond the
clouds, and the woman took her hand, and said ' ... I have little
to offer you, save my companionship ...'"
"And the
girl smiled, and replied 'That's fine; your other gifts were nice
but they tended to hurt in the end anyway.'"

"
... I added that last line?" the older Loranna mutters.
"Funny; I don't remember saying that ... though I suppose I
did, come to think of it ..."

skeleton or zombie, or whatever other abomination Mannimarco had
creadted, had fallen, another one replaced it, often ripping out an
arm or a leg to use as weapon.
The two smaller dragons dived
through the air to strike the forces of the living, swooping up and
down. Whenever they were close enough, a barrage of mixed spells,
burden, fire, frost and lightning greeted them, but the dragons
were fast and nimble. A nearby group of archers fired arrows into
the undead crowds, a devastating hail of steel and silver tipped
missiles.
Behind Dana, a group of clerics in dark robes had
formed a circle, beginning to chant an incantation. The symbol of a
circle could clearly be seen on their backs.
"Protect the
priests!", Dana shouted, ripping her blade from the zombie she
just ran through and casting a spell of absorb health at another.

A Knight of the Sundered Circle, one
gauntleted hand clutching a Daedric Claymore as if it were a
longsword and the other hand glowing with green-black, pulsating
magicka, hisses a syllibant order and unleashes a withering gout of
power upon the Knights of Arkay that were defending the priests.
With agonizing cries, many falter, their flesh literally rotting
away and their brittled bones collapsing under the weight of their
armor ...
Three zombies, bearing the swords of fallen
soldiers, charge at Dana, and stab at her viscously - but all three
blades are swept aside by a whirling mithril sword dancing through
the air as only a Redguard can make a sword move. Thrown
off-balance, the zombies stagger until Samson lops their heads off,
one after another, like a man picking ripe fruit off the tree.
To
the side, Dana can see a massive two-handed sword mowing skeleton
and zombie alike down like chaff before the scythe, as Harg battles
his way toward the undead knight. Samson leaps, his jump aided by
magicka, and lands next to Harg, yelling "What have I told you
about taking on a battlemage type foe without backup!"
"Many
things!" Harg roars back, flashing a grin, and as one the
mithril blade and the massive sword move, but the daedric claymore
amazingly parries both, and there is an explosion of green-black

listened to the story, raiseing an eyebrow and mumbling to himself
occasionally throughout the telling of the tale. It was...
interesting, to say the least. But the meaning of it was not lost
on him, and it made him feel... pity, for the younger version of
his wife. She had no idea what was going to happen...
He
turned to the older Loranna, a strange look on his face. "I
have a feeling this incident didn't turn out at all like this the
first time around, did it?"
"Things are happening that happened

A
Knight of the Sundered Circle, one gauntleted hand clutching a
Daedric Claymore as if it were a longsword and the other hand
glowing with green-black, pulsating magicka, hisses a syllibant
order and unleashes a withering gout of power upon the Knights of
Arkay that were defending the priests. With agonizing cries,
many falter, their flesh literally rotting away and their brittled
bones collapsing under the weight of their armor ...
Three
zombies, bearing the swords of fallen soldiers, charge at Dana, and
stab at her viscously - but all three blades are swept aside by a
whirling mithril sword dancing through the air as only a Redguard
can make a sword move. Thrown off-balance, the zombies
stagger until Samson lops their heads off, one after another, like
a man picking ripe fruit off the tree.
To the side, Dana can
see a massive two-handed sword mowing skeleton and zombie alike
down like chaff before the scythe, as Harg battles his way toward
the undead knight. Samson leaps, his jump aided by magicka,
and lands next to Harg, yelling "What have I told you about
taking on a battlemage type foe without backup!"
"Many
things!" Harg roars back, flashing a grin, and as one the
mithril blade and the massive sword move, but the daedric claymore
amazingly parries both, and there is an explosion of green-black
magic that engulfs both men ...
The Kalaan Forces - Dana
Dana cried
out in dismay, seeing her battle companions being engulfed in this
wicked spell, then calling upon her healing skills and throwing a
blue wave of light towards them, trying to counter the effects of
the dark magic the undead had cast.
Meanwhile, the
incantation of the priests of Arkay continued, shining threads of
golden light appeared, forming a circle in the circle of humans and
began to grow and stretch out, first touching them, then engulfing
them, spreading further and further.

Two unmoving corpses fall atop Samson's
broken and unliving body ...
"Samson! HARG! Noo!", Dana shouted,
"Don't die on me now!"
She rushed towards them, but in
her heart, she knew it's been too late. The Redguard had known them
for only a very short time, but in desperate times, friendships
grew faster and stronger than normal, and pain, loss and danger
forged together.
Tears began to flow down her cheeks, the
feeling of helplessness. If such two men like Samson and Harg would
die against a single enemy, could they all stand against the undead
masses, when liches and other knights of the Sundered Circle were
out there, not to speak of the dragons in the sky?
Dana wept,
and the undead continued their march. Time didn't matter to her,
nor her own death. To the horrors she had seen, another chapter had
been added, memories of Harg's and Samson's deaths would join those
of Tel Dresori, haunting her...
Then, Dana was roughly
grabbed by the arm.
"No time to weep now!", a
hard-faced knight said with a rough voice, but in his eyes was
pity. He began to pull her along in a retreat, and Dana stumbled
after him. The priests of Arkay had extended the circle, shielding
parts of the forces with a turn undead aura, and providing an
island of shelter for healers in the sea of the dead.

However, the dragons are still overhead, and care
little for the tragedies that play out below them. Only avenging
the insult to their draconic honor mattered, and they intended to
claim repayment in full.

Battle for Ramakawan
As the battle rages on, very
little has changed...the Allied forces are still outnumbered, with
a neverending surge of Undead ranks piling into the valley at a
frantic pace...the only good news in the chaos is that the hill Ota
controls, has grown substantially, as has her ranks, flowing now in
the range of 50 plus various soldiers...with the increased manpower
Ota has actually managed to put herself and those with her between
the Undead Hordes and the path back to Ramakawan...even now though
the Undead ranks swell threatening to break through and march
straight through the valley to one very defenseless Tamriel.
On
the good side though the massive numbers of Undead are actually
doing themselves in, as their numbers are now doing more harm then
good...between Ota and certain doom however is a wall of fire...a
hastily reformated accident that actually worked in Ota's favor,
unlucky though for the Mage that started the fire as his arrow
pierced body started the flames and the several dead logs around
him are keeping the Undead at bay, along with whatever fuel the
group can muster, mostly dead logs and Undead weapons, or
soldiers...still however, several of the more braindead Zombies
stomp right through, engulfing themselves before being hacked to
pieces...needless to say the Frontal ranks are dealing with an
unholy stench, as well as the dismal Undead
"Clivis...any
word from the frontal ranks" Ota says loosening her robes to
combat the heat of the crescent firewall "communication would
be grand"
"None whatsoever...I'm begining to think
we're the last ones" Clivis responds
If ever a
hastier command structure had been set up, then Ota hadnt heard of
it...of the ones lucky enough to find their way to the hill before
the firewall went up were the two following individuals: Clivis, a
middle-aged Nordic Man, separated from his Legion Battalion when
the Dragon started reeking havoc, Ota has put him in command of her
frontal lines...Townes (Towny), a young Imperial of no more then 15
years separated from his father and the rest of the Archeror ranks
when the Undead swelled, pulling his group apart, he was lucky
enough to crawl to the hill, and after being slapped around by Ota
a bit has regained his composure and his marksmanship, making him
Ota's clear choice for a ranged commander. Ota herself is forming
the Mage ranks into something profitable, telling Healers where to
direct their Spells, and Destruction Mages where to launch vollies
at the enemy ranks.
"We're not the last ones Mister
Clivis" Ota says "...because if we were theres no doubt
in my mind that that Dragon would be scorching us" Ota says
motioning in the distance to where the Dragon is, finally
redirecting her attention to the ranged formation "Mister
Towny...excellent work at holding the right flank...but now
concentrate your fire on that formation over there" Ota says
pointing to an area off to the right "...try to seperate
them...can you do this Mister Towny?"
"Yes Ma'am,
I think we can" the reluctant Towny replies
"Dont
think, do Mister Towny...lest they overtake our entire positon"
Ota barks
"Yes Ma'am" Towny says, turning to
organize the ranks for another volley
"Good...now
Clivis...heres what I want to do about that Dragon and the Group
with it" Ota begins strategizing with Clivis "...especially
the nasty group of Knights over there" Ota points out

Attrebus approached Lorrana and bowed. "I'm
glad to see a familiar face, fair Loranna. These certainly are
strange goings on... How are you, my lady?"
The younger Loranna blinks as the Imperial
guard arrives, recognizing Attrebus from memories that weren't
truly hers. For a second she looks unsure of herself, but she
manages a smile.
"There are many strange goings on,
indeed," she says, glancing over at Reichi and Reeds. "And

crowds, and isn't it always the way, that adventurers attract
interesting events to them?"

Shaka only nodded, and used the amulet to

silent for now, figuring she would think of it herself if the
hunger grew too great.

The stories were continuing, and Goranthir
had just finished a rather silly tale of the Crystal Tower which he
had beeen tld as child. It was met with appreciation, and he had
taken the opportunity to speak with Allerleirauh. He knew she
wouldn't know him here, in a dream of the past, but he couldn't
miss the opportunity to talk to his great love.
"This

"Well,

"Oh, those are

The
Battle for Ramakawan
Ota and her forces continue to
hold the hill, and all are keeping a sharp eye out just in case the
Dragon happens their way...but for now the cause seems to be
picking off the creatively named abominations Mannimarco has
unleashed, names like: "Hell Knight" a twisted creation
of a Skeleton Champion fused with Iron Armor and a careless amount
of Fortify Strength to keep its fragile bones from buckling under
the weight..."Death Box" a Zombified creation formed from
corpses that resembled a crate...and Ota's personal favorite the
"Dead Tower" a hulking pile of corpses wired together to
make one giant sickening creation...for each new type of creature a
different approach needed to bring it down
"Clivis,
where in the blazes are those Siege Engines?" Ota
questions
"No idea ma'am... late I'm afraid"

“How
dare you talk to the immortal Mannimarco like that,
barmaid?” the King of Worms said, floating towards her on a
cloud of dust and ash. “I will boil your brain. I will turn
your bones to powder. I will …”
As Mannimarco
approached her, wild hair began to sprout from his head.
“I
will …”
The doll-like expression on his face
became more animated, from emotionless to fury to … amused
madness.
“I will …”
Dropping down
to the ground, he walked right past Loranna and approached the
young Loranna-Azura, and bowed.
“I will be honored if
you will dance with me, o Goddess,” said Sheogorath Two.
“It
was never anything but a dance, o Llanfairite,” Sheogorath
One smiled. “An Arena and a Dance.”
Shaka saw the Spear sticking in the wall on

closely to the true Sheogorath and Loranna.
"Thank you

his undead legions?"

death and horror to the sound of waltz music.

He
still felt in awe of the will he had seen casually displayed. With
the true Tribunal gone for several years now, Mannimarco had been
said by some to be the deadliest foe on Tamriel; yet a true Daedra

necromancer.
Nor could Shaka relax around the Banker,

eyes as well.
"Maybe I should see if Anya is up for a

Athaso, choosing not to dance, more out of shyness than anything,
turned his attentio to the battle going on outside. Part of him was
confused as to whether he was still alive, part of him wanted to

illusion.
Despite any of this, he breathed a sigh of
relief, thinking that the majority of things were over.

Reichi stared out the window, watching the battle being fought. It was incongrous with the waltz music and the manor, but this was a dream, and there was nothing they could do to help those fighting the battle. Maybe a dance. Dancing as he was would be a interesting challenge, not to mention fitting for the already unusual scenery.

Red-Rock-Shadow among the troops, fighting the dragons with great

The mage bowed to a finely dressed noblewoman,
frightened and shuddering and stretched out a hand.
"May I

pleasant, my Lady?", the mage asked with a soft voice.

They quickly found their steps and soon they were
twirling alongside Sheogorath Two and young Loranna.
Meanwhile,
those who would be watching the windows would see a line of
catapults whose arms were being drawn back and loaded with amphores
of boiling pitch. A Redguard, tall, in leather armour and armed
with a silve sword stood close to the war machines and pointed
towards a mass of zombies with his blade. His mouth moved as if it
was a shout, but no sound was heard, then, the catapults shot their
deadly load high into the air and pitch black death rained onto the

Reichi smirked, though he couldn't reply

having dance in some time, and being in his other form, Reichi lead
the dance admirably well. Even if he nearly tripped a few times
over his own paws.

Nalion spinned the noblewoman around, as they
moved over the dance floor, closing in on young Loranna and

and towards a window.
This time, the window showed another
battle scene, two smaller dragons flying over the fields of undead
and living alike. A part of the combined troops of Sentinel,
Firsthold and the Empire flocked closely towards their banners in
the middle of a glowing shield upheld by a circle of dark-clad
priests of Arkay, lashing out at the oncoming undead hordes, then
retreating backwards again, desperately holding their
position.
Amidst them, for the blink of an eye, a green crystal
sword caught the light and reflected it.

Slyvos looked... disturbed, when the
realization set in. The hate just festered from the thought of it,
making him for a moment not care if all the Mundus fell into ruin
with the destruction of that daedroth. Then he realized... she
wasn't even worth him hateing. She was just that low, that
undeserving. worthless being. he thought to himself, no
longer going to give the daedra prince that pleasure of a strong
emotion. Of course, by doing this, that was just an act of hate;
the emotion that keeps on giving.
With Loranna practically
dragging him onto the dance floor, he blinked, before he put on an
emotionless demeanor, falling into step with his wife and doing as
she says.

The gift Sheogorath gave to one and all at
the ball at Lord Darius's so long ago, which none had used, was the
spark of madness which would yield one second of genius, one moment
of highest inspiration. As the Older Loranna claimed the gift at
last, all who danced sideways could hear the laughter of the Mad
God.
It was directed at no one save himself.
The
lightning in the storm engulfing Younger Loranna and Azura had
intensified so it was almost burning, too white to look at for
long.
"Goodbye, guests. I will dance with each and
every one of you all in good time ..."
Younger

business. "What word from the Dragontail Mountains?" she
demands as she sits up.

QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Mar 21 2006, 01:07 AM)
Sentinel,
Dawn
The first thing she felt was a sudden heaviness in
her belly and on her hips, the now familiar feeling of the baby
inside her. Her legs also ached, as if she had walked or
danced too much on them. And then she heard the thunder in
the distance and smelled rain.
Then she heard the voices,
also familiar to her from the vision she saw in the dream, of the
servant and the healer in the palace.
“It’s very
important you not leave out any details,” the healer was
saying, sounding concerned. “When you left, she was in bed …
alone.”
“Yes, sir,” the servant’s
voice, replied. “And now all these people showed up, all of
‘em … dancing! Without no clothes on!”
“So
I see … Quite a conundrum. I would cast a drain
fatigue spell on them to get them to stop, but it seems they’re
asleep, so I don’t see how that would help …”
Loranna's
eyes opened, and light filled them, forcing her to blink for a few
seconds while she focused, and instantly silencing the healer and
servant who stood there, staring.
Nalion's clapping stopped abruptly as he
realized where he was. And what he did not wear. Then, aside from
the fact that he began blushing like a maiden, he noticed the
single noblewoman standing beside him, covering her bareness with
her hands.
"What...", Nalion gasped, then looked at
the noblewoman again. "This is... should
not..."
Instinctively, Nalion took a sheet from the bed and
wrapped it around the speechless girl., then looked for something
to wear that would fit him as well...

QUOTE(Loranna @ Mar 21 2006, 02:15 AM)
Loranna
sits up and groans, muttering "Okay, okay, enough dancing for
now ..."
When she sees her friends all dancing
around her naked, she frowns. "Healer, if I may, either
find some clothes for these souls or else get us all to the nearest
House of Dibella ..."
Then, she grins, giggling with
just a touch of madness in her voice, but mostly joy. After a
moment of giggling though, she was suddenly all business.
"What word from the Dragontail Mountains?" she demands as
she sits up.
The servant ran off to fetch clothes, while
the healer stayed behind. In Loranna's earlier vision, he had wild
hair, a waistcoat, and the other accouterments of Sheogorath, and
while now his hair was a bit of a mess, it was clear he was just a
simple Redguard healer, no symbol of Sheogorath as she had
seen.
"First things first, your Grace," he
frowned. "Sit down. Let me examine you, all of you, and make
certain nothing's wrong."
As he began his examination,
he said. "We are awaiting word from the war in the mountains
still, your Grace."

Loranna finds that sitting is agreeable,
given the ache in her legs; she could dull the pain with magic but
allowed herself to be examined first.

when no one is looking, casts a regenration spell on herself and

Gram, meanwhile, is staring intently at a crack in a wall -

Anya stood, waiting. Her modesty was forcibly
removed not so long ago by Dayla, so any stares her body elicited
didn't bother her. What did make her cringe was the light that was
beginning to pour through the window, causing her to bare her teeth
slightly. As much as a regeneration spell healed her, it didn't
really dull the pain.
She glanced around, wondering how they
made it here, this time.

asked, as the servant gave everyone something to wrap themselves up

"Can you tell me what you remember, and who these people are and where they came from?" the healer asked, as the servant gave everyone something to wrap themselves up in. "Everyone at court has been concerned for you."
Tentatively, Loranna got up on her sore
legs, gingerly testing them. Her bedsheet stolen by Nalion, she
stands naked for a moment, her arms wrapped around her belly.
I'm
back, my child; did you miss me? she thinks, smiling a bit as
she walked toward the window, pulling her robe on as she carefully
peered through the curtains ...
... It was dawn, and it was
raining - no thunder that she could see or hear, just rain. The doG
had passed on, having finally gotten someone to make a spectacular
use of the gift he had given them - which just may have been the
idea from the very start, though right now Loranna doesn't feel up
to figuring out Sheogorath's motives.
A few rays of the
dawn's light touch Loranna's face, and though it was shaping up to
be a nice day despite the rain, Loranna couldn't help but shiver a
bit. She briefly remembers the last moment of the dream, the final
words of her younger self, and recalls that Azura hadn't sounded
angered or upset that they had gotten away. It suggested
...
Loranna shakes her head. Who cared? Her friends were
back, and alive, and with any luck Mannimarco's forces were getting
their tails kicked right now. She was going to be a mother in a
couple of months and her husband was still with her. Who cared what
plans the Daedra were setting up - she and her friends had won, and
come through alive, and that was all that mattered.
She
smiles up at the dawn, and replies "These are the heroes who
braved the perils of Scourg Barrow that our armies might be able to
break Mannimarco's lines. After much travail and danger, they are
returned safely to us; let us rejoice that they all made it
back."
She could answer the question of what she
remembered later, when she felt up for figuring out how much of
what she and her friends had gone through could even be put into
words.

Though there was still fighting
going on, as far as the heroes of Ald Raathim were concerned, the
War of the Wormgod was over. All that remains .... is the
Epilogue.
