Hello everyone,
I'm starting this RP off with an announcement before the rules.
This new chapter of the RP, I predict, will be a short one, focusing solely on
the conflict which we have set up over the past few months. We will see
how well the heroes of Ald Raathim fare against the ever-encroaching death that
awaits in the west.
This will also be the last RP chapter for our role
play during the time period between Morrowind and Oblivion; after
War of the Wormgod has finished, there will be a reflections and epilogue
thread to tie up any loose ends and to set the scene for our characters in the
final days before the events of Oblivion, and then the RP will take a haitus
for a month or two, while we all play the new game till the wheels fall off.
Since we are entering the grand finale of our pre-Oblivion RP campaign, I am
hereby stating that we are not accepting any new
players until after we start up again post Oblivion. We
apologize for this arbitrariness, but it's not a good idea trying to shoehorn
new faces into the plot when you're playing out the last battle. Everyone
will be welcome once we start up again.
Loranna[1]
Hello,
and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and
socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
Loranna's Roleplay, while an open roleplay where everyone is invited to
join, is not a limitless or unregulated game. There are rules we have set ourselves
that make roleplaying easier and more enjoyable for everyone of us. Please take
the time and read the following guidelines carefully and, more importantly, act
according to them.
1. Have fun!
2. Fun does not mean you can do whatever you want, though.
Let us please clarify some points. While everyone is welcome to join in, they
are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING
IT FIRST. Let's be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:
Affecting other characters:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good.
Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
Major Events:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world,
whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political(converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
For the purpose of coordinating this RP, backstage fun and discussing current
and future events, we have established a chatroom on chatspike.net, chatroom
#Loranna_RP. We strongly recommend that you have a glimpse in there, since it
is the easiest and most convenient way to discuss characters and settings,
explain rules, plan and give you the background information you need to play in
this RP. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the
player whose character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM
them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP You'll enter our chat channel and we can
talk to you.
Here are various other rules, tips and information you should take time
to read before joining this RP:
1. Background History:
Loranna's RP has accumulated a rich background history. Of course, no-one can
know all that has happened in this RP, but it is important that you have at
least an idea about the major events that took place during the last
one-and-a-half years. There are a few posts of Loranna that explain the history
of the RP from her character's viewpoint and a summary of the events in the RP
is in progress, you can find them
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html. Another summary is available as
text file from Nalion, please ask via our chatspike channel or per PM to Nalion
for the time being. We are working on a more permanent solution to provide this
information.
The chatroom #Loranna_RP on chatspike is probably the best and fastest way to
get yourself informed about the RP, just ask the moderators and long-time
players there if you need any information. They will gladly help you. It is
also very advisable to read up on the most recent posts and threads to become a
grasp of what is happening right now in the RP. This will significantly help
you in finding a way to join the action and will reduce the probabiliy of
mistakes.
2. Reading and catching up on the RP:
We're a dedicated lot of players, and we love this RP. This means we put a lot
of effort in our posts, do a lot of planning and discussing to create our
plotlines. This requires time and dedication. And we require this of you as
well. This means, take your time to read the posts of the other players and
take the time to catch up on the plot if it progressed while you were away.
This simplifies your rejoin into the action. It is also a sign of respect to
the other players. If you don't have the time to read their posts, why should
they bother with yours, then?
Again, please let me repeat this, for it is very important. If you are not able
or willing to put time and at least reasonable effort in this RP, think again
whether you want to join this RP or not.
3. Gathering information
Gather information about the RP, be it asking in chat, by reading older posts
and getting up to date on the history or by asking via PM. No-one can know
everything, sure, but everyone can ask about what happened. We're glad to
assist! Again, this can not be done without some interest in the ongoings in
the RP, effort and a good bit of dedication.
4. Roleplaying
Roleplaying doesn't just involve making your character say something
(in-character chat). It also has a descriptive element. Motions and emotions of
your character, worries, joys, mimics, movements... we want to see them!
Describe how your character acts, this gives you a better grasp of your
character and will help your fellow players build up a relationship to your
character. It's not only action and big fights we have here in this RP, there
is a major social aspect to it as well.
5. Posting
Try to take your time to post. Yes, we are aware that there are hectic scenes,
like in big combats, where some things move faster, but is it in general a good
idea to look over your post again to check it. Yes, we know it sounds stupid
and obvious, but please care about spelling, punctuation and grammar. They are
not just things you learned in school once to forget afterwards. We are no
decryption experts. Those grammar rules have their meaning, and there are tools
out there to help you(word spell checker for example). Again, the chat is a
perfect way to ask for
time and coordinate with other players if you have problems.
6. Character control / multiple characters
Once more, about controlling characters that belong to other players: You
cannot control a character that is not your own (with a few exceptions, like
having talked to the player of the character beforehand). This means most
of the time the following:
* In combat, you can only try to attack another character, but whether
you hit him or how much damage is inflicted is up to the player of the
character, and only him/her.
* This applies to healing or helping the character as well; feel free to try
and offer help to a character, but let the other player describe the effects of
the healing/helping.
* Especially in combat, you have to work closely with the other players, the
chatroom is the best and easiest method to discuss these things.
Another thing related to this topic is referring or speaking to other
characters whose players are not online. If possible, try to avoid involving
characters when their player is not present. It ties down your character while
waiting for the other player to come back, and you don't know whether the
respective player has other plans when he is back.
Additionally, avoid generating scenes where you involve a character, affect him
with an action and finish the action before the player can react (stealing,
attacking, casting spells or similar actions). Example: No running up to
someone, rob him and run away to safety all in one post. This is a no go.
Controlling multiple characters. We have no written limits on how many
characters you may control; the limit is you. In general, it is very advisable
that you stick to one character when you are new to RPing. When creating a
character, it is VERY important that you consider your character carefully.
Again, this has something to do with effort and dedication. It is generally a
bad sign if you join up, post a couple of posts and then say you are bored with
this character and make a new one. Other players might get annoyed greeting and
introducing their characters to a new character when it is obvious that this
character will not last long because the player gets bored with the new
character. This RP is a social RP as well, and it is very difficult to
socialize with a character that is badly played, where you can see by the style
of writing that the player is already bored with the character and will throw
him away at the next opportunity. RPing is all about characters and your
character is your "representative" in this RP, your voice, your arm,
your mind. Please take this into account when creating and playing your
character.
As a general rule of thumb, use only one character until you feel comfortable
with him, can control him, have fun with him and the character is established
in the RP. The rest will run automatically after a while when you get more
confident and experienced in RPing.
7. Secret plans
Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're
revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards
they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them. Examples: Your character
suddenly remembers that he has a castles all over Tamriel and calls in troops
to help. Or: Your character suddenly reveals he is a spy of the Emperor and
knows everything.
8. Ingame consequences of character actions:
Morrowind the game was rather lenient when it came to direct consequences after
a character's action. This is not the case in our RP. There are laws and local
customs, and there are guards and other authorities that are there to enforce
them. So, starting tavern brawls, stealing, murdering, open assault and all
other related actions are very likely to be persecuted and punished (this can
go up from your character ending up in jail, being banished or to be executed).
This doesn't mean that there are no murders or thefts in the RP, but it does
mean that if you do that, be aware of the consequences your character will have
to deal with.
9. Additional helpful information:
Please make sure that you read the following post of Allerleirauh
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855,
dealing with some of the above mentioned rules, as well as the hints on
character generation done by Loranna
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=3828224.
Please take the above mentioned rules and information into careful
consideration, they will help you in joining this RP quickly and are useful to
avoid problems. And more importantly: act according to them!
** Not following the above advice will only result in two things: your
post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone else as if it did not
happen and/or you are asked to leave the RP. This is obviously not good for
anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them and act according to
the rules mentioned above. **
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna: Loranna is in Sentinel, having a talk with the Queen
Mother Barenziah; she's enjoying the talk a lot.
Summary for Gram: Gram is getting the stuffing beaten out of him by
scarified corpses that link together to make evil centipede things.[2]
Hesek feels the healing spell from Chalovk flow through him. His injuries heal, but the curse remains in effect, sapping his strength. He rolls backwards, away from the beast. When he comes to a stop he removes the curse from himself and renews his reflection. He charges forward again, the holy sword ready. [3]
ooc: Isidor, Ingmar, and Tsei are all fighting giant bugs of doom in a death aura.[4]
QUOTE(Loranna @ Mar 9 2006, 04:27 PM)
[5] Gram slams the Spellbreaker into another flailing arm, cursing as a spike draws a painful gash across his chin. The six worms still facing the sword wielders swarm around one another, temporarily joining into one three-'headed' corpse hydra that tries to smash Isidor and Slashes into bloody pulps before anyone can dispel the curses on them.
[7]
Isidor ducks out of the way of one of the blows of the hydra, swinging his
sword at the beast, while Tsei shoots turn undead spells and dispel at the
hydra.
Ingmar, seeing the worms and arm heading for Talloe, jumps at one of the worms,
swinging Goranthir's dai-katana at it. [8]
OOC: Anya's busting
undead heads.
Anya cursed loudly, slipping her bonemold bow away. Pulling her blades, she
took off in a run at an impossible blur. Bulling into the second of the worm
halves, she hacked at it ruthlessly as she pushed both of them away from
Taolle. [9]
OOC Summary
Reichi Sari is in the Death-Aura of Mannimarco, chopping at corpsapedes that
have combined into a hydra-corpse of sorts. His current strategy is little more
than attempting to hack its' heads off with the holy shortsword he carries,
hoping this will disable it. [10]
Summary
Red-Rock-Shadow, Argonian battlemage and liaison to the Mages Guild is
with the party on the slopes of Mount Nombaje, fighting corpsapedes. She has
just launched an experiment of sorts: a powerful heal spell in the vicinity of
the necromantic constructs and Isidor and Slashes. At worse, she figures, it
will heal the heroes and undo some of the damage done to the creature. At best,
a Heal spell cast at a creature that thrives on pain and death will hurt it
quite a bit ...
She has not moved, however, from her position in front of ...
Taolle called Mother Nirn, Goranthir's blind, elderly nurse who
has mantled Nirn itself to stumble her way into the Death Aura. It is said if
she dies before seeing him, all hope will be lost.[11]
Sivartus watched as
the beast broke into two different parts, both starting to move towards Taolle.
He stepped infront of her, concentrating on the words of a spell in his mind.
With a flash of magic, a Flame Atronach appeared infront of him. He immediately
commanded it to attack the worm. As it walked off to meet its foe, the hand that
was scurrying towards Taolle was crushed on the weight of its flaming foot.
When the Atronach lifted its leg, Sivartus could make out a pile of ash lying
on the ground. [12]
Summary:
Slyvos is aiding in the battle against the corpse-hydra creature, casting
Dispel and restore spells on the others as needed, to allow them to continue
the battle without tire.
He wasn't a dedicated healer, but he was a master of all schools of magic, so
this would be enough to help the others in between his mad bouts of blasting
away at one of the heads with fire magic and Turn Undead spells. [13]
Summary: The Ra'Gada
battlemage Shaka is among the vanguard trying to shelter Taolle/Nirn from the
undead minions of the King of Worms.
Shaka was protected somewhat from the foes' spells by the Spear's reflect. He
hurled a fireball at one of the corpsapedes, hoping they would have no more
resistance to fire than any dead creature might.
He then called up a Storm Atronach, another shield for Mother Nirn. The golem
hurled himself at the undead, electricity crackling at his joints. [14]
Meanwhile
The battle preparations continue on three fronts.
The Royal Palace, Sentinel
More soldiers and troops were arriving hourly, and being sent off to one of the
two different camps to join the troops already in position to the west and east
of the Dragontail Mountains.
Kalaan, Tigonus, Hammerfell
The soldiers marching along the coast had finally reached the dusty fortress in
Kalaan, just west of the mountains, on a lonely stretch of beach. The officers
of the various factions examined maps and made plans under the command of
Laretha Warhaft. The soldiers readied their weapons, preparing to launch into
action the moment the order was given. They had only to wait for the death aura
to be dissipated.
Ramakawan, Kozanet, Hammerfell
King Lhotun’s hidden jungle fortress faced the Bazidir Valley, a wide pass
through the mountains. Red-Rock-Shadow’s Mark was set to that region, so the
plan was upon her appearing there and giving the signal that the defenses were
down, the commanding officer Digitus Ero would send word to Warhaft, and
together the armies would push together. [15]
Vaan's
Summary:
Vaan is inside the coastal fotress in Kalaan, awaiting the order to attack
Mannimarco's sick new realm of death. He is in command of the Tribunal temple
faction of the attacking armies. [16]
The Hyrda looks worse
for wear; when Red-Rock-Shadow's spell of healing caught it in the area of
effect, it flinched just as if she had used a Turn Undead spell, and its
movements in the next couple of moments were noticably more sluggish. Missing
Isidor and Slashes on the initial foray, and getting pummeled by spells and the
holy swords, the corpses wail in misery and dejection, joined by their
compatriats which were getting stonewalled in their efforts to kill Taolle.
With one last final effort, the Corpse Hydra falls apart, creating an army of
disfigured undead; less than forty still remain in any shape to fight, thanks
to the continued fire spells and Turn Undead attacks and the sacred blades, but
those forty now scream with unhuman cries and try to overrun everyone,
desperate to get to the frail Bosmer woman whose presence is utterly loathesome
to them. Anyone who gets in their way gets flailed at wildly, but Taolle
remains their primary target.
The mini worms, meanwhile, try to push the defenders standing near Taolle away
from the Bosmer nanny, taking severe poundings in the process from the
Atronachs and whirling blades of the heores.

Summary: Athaso is killing the dead inside of a death aura.
Athaso had his holy broadsword drawn for the duration of the battle againt the
larger worms, but had almost been to afraid to do much with it. Plus, the reach
on a broadsword isn't as long as an unexperienced warrior might want it to be
when fighting an undead hydra made out of corpses.
But when the Hydra fell apart and the individual corpses made a mad rush for
Taolle, Athaso took a more defensive stance and struck out with the broadsword
at those who rushed at him; managing to cut down a few of the undead. [22]

Equipping the ring, Ingmar uses the Kynarine blast, firing it (as best as he
could) at the advancing horde of undead.
Tsei casts a shield around Talloe, trying her best to keep the Bosmer safe. [27]
Shaka shouted for
someone to fall back with Nirn, though he doubted any of the heroes were free.
The Spear of Bitter Mercy cut through the undead easily enough, but there were
so many of them. With a curse, Shaka was shoved back another yard, the undead
spikes screeching off the Dragonbone Cuirass.
Shaka took a moment to hurl fortifying and shielding spells with his left hand,
trying to protect not only Nirn but his comrades.
He was revulsed at Mannimarco's creations. Somehow this was the worst
desecration of the dead he had yet seen, worse than simple zombies or vampires.
Shaka wanted to annihilate Mannimarco all the more now, if it were even
possible to do so.[28]

[30] The mini worms, meanwhile, try to push the defenders standing near Taolle away from the Bosmer nanny, taking severe poundings in the process from the Atronachs and whirling blades of the heores.
[32]
Red-Rock-Shadow grabs Taolle around the waist and, unfurling her wings, takes
flight. She can only rise a few feet up with the buffeting wind, but she hopes
that if she keeps aloft a little longer, the others can defeat the corpsapedes.
"Concentrate your fire on one of them!" she cries.[33]
Hesek slashes his
sword, trying to stop the advancing undead. Glass and ebony shards on them
scrape at his armor, knocking some of the metallic green scales off of it. Some
shards glance off the metal plates on the armor. Finally one hits his wrist
slicing a deep gash in it, blood spurts from the severed artery. He quickly
heals it before he can loose too much blood.
OOC: Out for a couple of hours. [34]
P'Rassha was about to
grab the old Bosmer and ran as far as he could, but the argonian reaction eas
faster. Instead, the huge Khajiit took his axe and flailed through the corpses
blindly until nothing else but enemies were surrounding him.
With an elegant jump, he started a whirlwind strike, hitting several corpses at
the same time, pushing them several feet behind, but more and more came back
and pilled on the Cathay-raht. [35]
Sivartus stood calmly
infront of Taolle, watching the oncoming horde of corpses. He cast two spells,
and instantly two skeletons appeared beside him.
The first skeleton carried two axes, and as it ran into the swarm, threw one,
which caught a corpse in the head. It continued to move farther in the mass of
undead corpses, chopping it's way through anything that got in its way.
The other skeleton came up beside Shaka, its sword cutting down the undead
unlucky enough to get near it. [36]
Reichi cut down a few undead nearby, looking worse for the wear himself, with a few rents in his armor from the spikes. Reichi sheathed Bloodfang, and taking the holy shortsword in both hands, began hacking through the corpses still left standing, the white blade carving through the putrid decaying flesh with ease. [37]
Slyvos growled softly
to himself, small bits of flesh and a bit of blood spattered on his robes and
fur. He was clearly calming down now that they seemed to be winning this, but
continued to assist the others with his restorative magics.
"of all the things to attack us..." he muttered, at least glad that
it wasn't Poisonous Flying Monkies this time. [38]
Gram lashes out with
Frostkiss, and smashes Spellbreaker into his foes, grunting every time a spike
or shard of glass manages to find a chink in his armor and lodge into his
flesh. He was dimly aware of his allies around him, especially when a giant
shockwave nearly bowls him off his feet and pushes half the undead back, but
he's unable to reach anyone ...
For several terrible, seemingly endless moments, the battle rages, the undead
no longer caring if they get hit or not. Fire and holy power, both blade and
spell, tear through their bodies, spilling vile fluids and filling the
wind-swept air with acrid, noxious fumes, and the corpses' damnable refusal to
simply roll over and die requires that they be hacked down over and over ...
... but then, finally, as Gram pulls frostkiss from yet another skull and
Reichi's sword smashes another dark opal and P'Rassha stamps another flailing
limb into disgusting mush, everything is quiet save for the howling of the
wind. Though there are still some twitching bodies on the ground, nothing is
attacking anyone.
" ... It's over," Gram says, heaving a long sigh as he brings
Spellbreaker down on a squirming hand. "Their power is broken at
last."[39]
P'Rassha's fur was soaked by slime, his equipment stained by his own blood and his own saliva tasted undeath, but he was ok. He checked the others and, more importantly, the flying argonian and the Bosmer. [40]

[42] " ... It's over," Gram says, heaving a long sigh as he brings Spellbreaker down on a squirming hand. "Their power is broken at last."
[44]
Red-Rock-Shadow drifted back down to the ground, letting Taolle go, and
noticeably shaking from the effect of holding the Mother Nirn for so long. It
wasn't the winds that had effected her, it was the touch.
Taolle shook her head. "I don't know what you all were fighting,
but it sounded just awful."

Summary
Dana
Dana, a Redguard healer, is with the army that has gone to Kalaan, waiting for
battle. She feels anxiety and fear, hoping that she would hold up after what
she had seen in Tel Dresori.
Gistral
Gistral is with the other part of the army near Ramakawan, sharpening his sword

Nalion had concentrated fending off the undead worms with magic, trying to
protect Taolle and Red-Rock-Shadow who was carrying her. He was relieved that
the undead creations were finally defeated, they had proven resistant to put to
final death.
Breathing was hard in the smell and the wind.

Anya walked over, shaking her right arm which held the ebony shortsword, as if

"Nasty, nasty, nasty, filthy creatures..."
"I wish I couldn't witness these awful creatures, you certianly have the
better side there. I do hope you're okay, Mother." [59]
Sivartus coughed, the
noxious fumes floating up to meet his nose and mouth. He grabbed a handful of
his robes and covered his facing, trying to shut them out. The floor was
littered with corpses. His two skeletons stood alittle ways to the right,
having survived the terrible fight.

everyone bloodied and beat, but standing. [60]

whatever the undead contained) off of it. Upon regaining himself and taking in
the situation, he became nauseous.
The smell of rotting flesh, some of it now burned, combined with his own wounds
he had recieved as well as the entirety of the fact that he was fighting off
armies of the undead within a barrier of death was too much for him, and he
lost what little he had eaten that day... [61]
[62] QUOTE(Nalion @ Mar 9 2006, 06:04 PM)
[63] Summary
Dana
Dana, a Redguard healer, is with the army that has gone to Kalaan, waiting for
battle. She feels anxiety and fear, hoping that she would hold up after what
she had seen in Tel Dresori.
Gistral
Gistral is with the other part of the army near Ramakawan, sharpening his sword
in preparation for battle.
Nalion
Nalion had concentrated fending off the undead worms with magic, trying to
protect Taolle and Red-Rock-Shadow who was carrying her. He was relieved that
the undead creations were finally defeated, they had proven resistant to
put to final death.
Breathing was hard in the smell and the wind.
"Everyone alright?", the mage asked.
[65]
"I'm well, so long as we dont have to deal with any more of those"
Erenius says, cleaning his blade with a tattered bit of clothing he took from
one of the fallen creatures, if one wanted to call those abominations such. [66]
[67] QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Mar 9 2006, 06:02 PM)
[68] Red-Rock-Shadow drifted back down to the
ground, letting Taolle go, and noticeably shaking from the effect of holding
the Mother Nirn for so long. It wasn't the winds that had effected her,
it was the touch.
Taolle shook her head. "I don't know what you all were fighting,
but it sounded just awful."
[70]
Gram can't help himself; he laughs. "The Wormgod tried to live up to his
name," he jokes. "Obviously he thinks he can stop us by revolting us;
by the breath in my lungs though, if I have to smash every unliving monstrosity
in these lands to reach your son, then to Oblivion with them all!"
He wipes goo off his armor and grimaces.[71]

Seeing Taolle and hearing her comment, Nalion smiled - but grimly.
"Some things should never walk on this soil and be seen by mortal
eyes..."
[74]
"Nothing a barrel of mead can't eventually fix, my friend," Gram says
to Nalion, letting the Breton mage see a hint of weariness in the Nord's eyes.
"And a nice hot bath with a saucy tavern wench or two."[75]
"I'm
alright," Reichi said, "Just a few scratches." Reichi cleaned
his blade on couple of rough, jutting stones. "Could use a heal or two,
though." The Dunmer pulled a restore fatigue potion from his satchel and
lifted his helmet long enough to gulp it down. Hacking down bunches of corpses took
a considerable amount of effort, afterall. He was glad he hadn't been weilding
the Dagger of Senses, the stench that hung in the air was bad enough now
without enchancement.

[77] QUOTE(Xyber02 @ Mar 9 2006, 07:05 PM)
[78] Anya walked over, shaking her right arm
which held the ebony shortsword, as if she had just tasted something purely
awful. She muttered to herself, "Nasty, nasty, nasty, filthy
creatures..."
"I wish I couldn't witness these awful creatures, you certianly have the
better side there. I do hope you're okay, Mother."
[80]
"I am, thank you, dear," Taolle nodded. "None of them so much as
touched me, but they were close enough to smell."
[81]
*...Summary: miraculously neither sister took very much part in the last battle, and there isnt much for the heroic tone in this post, except this: Ora chipped a nail while blocking a blow from the Undead Hydra, and Osa wasted another of her Arrows leaving a pitiful 2 remaining, currently each are catching their breath with the rest of the group...* [82]

Sivartus weaved his way through the bodies and stench, sliding alittle on the
liquid from the zombies. Finally, he made it to Aki, and healed him with a
simple touch on the shoulder.
"There," he said, "That should be all you need. Now, where is
the exit? This place smells terrible." [87]
Slyvos tilted his head
to the side, a audiable cracking sound coming from his neck as he loosened it
up a bit. He moved over to where Gram was, chuckling to himself.
"you know, I wish I could say I've seen worse, but that was just amazing

Shaka was half-kneeling as he healed himself; some of the undead had managed to
find the weak points in the joints of his armor, but the lacerations were
closing up now. His armor was more battered than ever, other than the Cuirass.
All the more reason to buy orcish armor should he survive.[98]

Red-Rock-Shadow was looking at the map they had been provided, trying to answer
Slyvos's question. She looked puzzled at it a moment, and then took another
look at the next mountain to the south which they could just see over the peak
of Mount Nombaje.
"Either this map is really old, or I've lost my ability to read a
map," she said, pointing. "Or that huge cavern is brand new."
There was in fact a yawning cavern, traversable from this peak over a narrow
natural bridge.

The early morning wind's chill left the group as they stepped into the mouth of
the enormous cavern. It was, in fact, pleasantly warm.
The mouth was fifty feet high, and twice as wide, and the tunnel continued
those dimensions, on a slight slope downward. It was an awkward walk, however,
as the ground was littered with rocks which went from small pebbles at the
entrance to large boulders as they went deeper.
The rocks jumbled up as the cave expanded into a huge chamber. A ledge high up
led to two tunnels, which could be reached with a climb up the boulders.
Though the temperature was warm and pleasant, those attuned to magicka could
sense they were close to something dark and unholy, necromancy of the highest
order. [171]
Reichi stayed close to Taolle, with Spellbreaker and several of the holy blades up front, it would be wise to also keep one near Taolle, just in case. Reichi looked up at the high ledge, and the tunnels. "Looks like levitation time again.." he commented. He didn't like this, it was far too quiet and warm, something so incongruous with the rest of the death feild that it put him on edge. [172]

[252] Taolle could barely be
restrained as she scrambled up the pile of rocks to the higher ledge. It
was an easier climb that they had anticipated from a distance. The rocks
were smooth, long like fallen stactites, and curved like sabers.
As she and those close to her went towards the right tunnel, those with a
strong mystical connection felt the throb of necromantic energy was close,
emanating from the left tunnel.
[254]
"You sure this is the right tunnel?" Sivartus asked, uncertain as to
whether he should break off from the group and head left, or stay with them.
"I feel strong magic coming from the left tunnel." [255]

The right tunnel continued for about a hundred further before abruptly ending.
Taolle, of course, being blind, would have kept on walking into the wall if not
held back.
"He's there," she said, pointing at the solid wall. Her breathing was

The triangular pedestal tilted slightly, so the gem rolled into one of the

Slyvos shivered at the sight of the foul gem, walking forward towards the
pedestal slowly, very slowly. This was the source of his pain, the source of

Shaka was stunned that
Mannimarco's perversion of life and death could include a dragon. Power and
majesty like that, turned into a bonewalker . . . .

"Geht, it's I, Shaka," he said. "Though the form has changed. .

Reichi simply stared, wondering if this dragon had been the green one that had rescued them from Ald Sotha. And of course, it had to be undead of all blasted things. Skeletons usually had frail bones, but dragonbone was incredibly tough. He tightened his grip on his holy shortsword. [508]

Nalion shouted a warning, then dove away from the falling rocks towards Taolle,
shielding her with his body. The mage cast spell absorption magic on the
companions that were closest to the Dragon, more, he could not reach. Then, he
tried to take care of Taolle and bring her to safety, motioning her to move
towards the beginning of the tunnel.
"Try to spread out so that it can't hit you all at once. You're smaller

Reichi huried out of the way of the falling rocks, feeling the sheild spell enclose him. He did as Nalion suggested and spread out, trying to think of how to combat the thing. He wondered if the Dragon would so much as flinch against his blade, despite being holy. [551]

Gram was swiftly becoming of the opinion that Baelthon could quite easily stand
in place and talk them to death if he so chose; his head smarted from the
rather large rock which fell on it and introduced him to the cold hard ground.
"Maybe that stern talking to wasn't such a bad idea after all Mother

With a quick wrist movement, he made Gram's shield flew in the air, but his own
weapon got stuck in one of Spellbreaker's split and the two gear landed several
feet to the left. With an extra push with his leg, P'Rassha disarmed Gram.
"So friend Gram wants a hug right?. P'Rassha will give him one."
And P'Rassha gave Gram the same treatment he used to give his friend when they
met. But this time, P'Rassha isn't holding back. The khajiit arms found their
way around Gram's waist and tried to crush his torso. [804]
[805] QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Mar 10 2006, 12:24 AM)
[806] "That's close enough, friend," Geht shook his head. "Be a good lizard, and get on the floor and wriggle."
[808]
Mentally cursing, Shaka hit the floor like a pantomime snake. After a while, he
thought of the one option open to him, something he had heard of among the
Ra'Gada. The Satakal.
"You didn't say anything about not wriggling toward you," he said in
Hist, and began a writhing crawl toward Geht. If he could pull Geht's feet out
from under him . . . . It seemed unlikely, but his only chance.[809]
Sivartus glanced over
at Gram, who was in a wrestling match with P'Rassha. It looked like Gram could
handle himself, so he instead went for Nalion. As he got nearer the mage, he
cast reflect on himself, and conjured up a Dremora beside him.
"Stop Nalion," he said, one last time. Without hesitation, he
commanded the creature to attack. [810]
[811] QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Mar 9 2006, 10:13 PM)
[812] "Dear Anya, I
haven't seen you in a while, did you ever find a cure? Let's see,"
Geht smiled.
At that, Red-Rock-Shadow launched a powerful Turn Undead spell at her.
[814]
Anya took the full brunt of the Turn Undead spell. Her heart lept and her body
screamed to flee, her muscles refusing to maintain themselves. She dropped to a
knee as fear gripped her. But as fast as she wanted to run, the feeling left.
She steeled her body and turned to Geht. "Nalion's right, I do relish this
aura of death that your precious daddy made. It works two-fold."
Anya's voice was strong, carried by the Masque.
"Shaka, dammit, he's a mage. You're a Redgaurd with a spear. Get off the
damn floor and hurt him. Slyvos, help him, keep those spells from
hurting us." Anya directed herself towards Osa and Ora, "Sisters,
Gram is fully capable of defending himself. Leave the cat alone and help Mother
Nirn, she's more important!"
"Nalion, by all that Julianos holds, stop acting like a fool.
Listen to my voice and come to your senses. You want to lecture me on letting
something twist me and look at you."
Anya took a step back, moving towards Taolle, "Red-Rock-Shadow, don't make
me regret telling Baelthon to not do anything. Geht, must you do this?" [815]

Gram eyes the bone dragon wearily, wondering just what they're going to do with
it now. Goranthir's grief, however, touches his heart; he had just seen his
mother die for him, after all.
"If only my daughter were here now; she'd know what to say ..." Gram
mutters.[980]
[981] QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Mar 10 2006, 12:41 AM)
[982] Goranthir curled into a ball, choking and sobbing, clutching at Taolle's corpse.
[984]
Nalion kneeled down near Goranthir and put a hand on his shoulder.
"She made all the way from Summerset to this place, just to see you one
more time, Goranthir. Just to feel your true self again. And she did feel it.
And we all see it again now, too.", the mage said, squeezing the Dunmer's
shoulders.
The mage lay a hand on her blind eyes. His voice was soft and soothing, but
there was also a strange kind of strength in it. "May she rest in the
knowledge that her most beloved one is whole again." [985]
Reichi blinked, glad to have Goranthir back - or at least he seemed back, now that his eyes had returned to their former color, and he was bawling over Taolle's body. Though, he was saddened by the loss of Taolle, she was a kindly old woman. He stayed back and let those better suited for the task of calming Goranthir handle it. [986]

“Fearfully sorry, I’m on my way,”
Baelthon nodded, slithering off surprisingly gracefully out of the chamber.
Goranthir continued to sob, and in between his weeping, there were chirps,
whinnies, snatches of Hist, a thousand different languages, and at least one
time the words were in a language they all understood – “Please, come back.”[991]

Anya muttered under her breath, "Why do I get the feeling he's not
obeying, but just deciding to comply with me..."
She knealt beside Goranthir, placing her hands on him and Taolle, a part of her
missing the life Mother Nirn had given her for that one small moment. Anya
desperately tried to keep up with his languages, but he had a better grasp than
she ever hoped to have, it seemed. Still wearing the mask, she spoke to him,
"Goranthir? Goranthir! Look at me!" [996]

The sisters keep an ever watchful eye as the Dragon slumps off to do it's
assigned duty...only turning back towards Goranthir, Taolle, and the scene
taking place before them, both looking dutifully solemn [1001]

Shaka was close to tearing up. He looked up at Anya, then back to the youth.
"I'm sorry, Goran. Maybe I should have tried to find you sooner. I'm
really sorry."
He didn't add, She was a good woman. The words would have been
inadequate.
Shaka spoke to Anya. They hadn't had a chance to talk much in the last few
days.
"Don't know if I told you today, but I love you, elf. Thanks for freeing
me from the command." [1006]

Goranthir did so. She had seen in his eyes over the time they'd known one
another the braggadocio of a young hero, the silliness of a boy discovering
love, the dignity of a king, but here now was helplessness. His lips mouthed
the word "Anya" but no sound came out.[1011]

"Listen to my voice, you must focus Goranthir. You know why she died,
don't you? Taolle never doubted this was some silly charade. I know it hurts to
loose someone you love dearly, and loved you in return, but please, you must be
strong. Only for right now. You mother returned to Morrowind, if only to null
whatever contract she held."
Anya brought her hands up and held Goranthir's face, having taken off the
Masque, her thumbs on his cheeks, "You are your own man... I know I'm
being brusque with you, but please be the king you truly are, not the king your

The scene was a touching one, and Osa couldn't help but wipe a still forming
tear from her eye, while Ora keeps a watchful eye on the Tunnel, ever observant
of sneak attacks and Dragon trickery

The look of despair in Goranthir's eyes were replaced by calmness, strength,
anger, gratitude, a thousand other different emotions, but sadness still
remained. There were some things the Masque apparently could not do.
He stood up. "She was not the only one who risked her life to save me. On
my soul which is mine again, I will not let her down, or any of you down."[1026]
Shaka looked at the
ancient, powerful artifact that Anya still wore; the bearded man's face with
its overwhelming compulsion.
"Anya, maybe you should talk without the Masque now. We should see if
Goran is back, without having to force him . . . ."
