Hello everyone,
I'm starting this RP off with an announcement before the rules.
This new chapter of the RP, I predict, will be a short one, focusing solely on
the conflict which we have set up over the past few months. We will see how well
the heroes of Ald Raathim fare against the ever-encroaching death that awaits
in the west.
This will also be the last RP chapter for our role
play during the time period between Morrowind and Oblivion; after
War of the Wormgod has finished, there will be a reflections and epilogue
thread to tie up any loose ends and to set the scene for our characters in the
final days before the events of Oblivion, and then the RP will take a haitus
for a month or two, while we all play the new game till the wheels fall off.
Since we are entering the grand finale of our pre-Oblivion RP campaign, I am
hereby stating that we are not accepting any new
players until after we start up again post Oblivion. We apologize
for this arbitrariness, but it's not a good idea trying to shoehorn new faces
into the plot when you're playing out the last battle. Everyone will be welcome
once we start up again.
Loranna [1]
Hello,
and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and
socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
Loranna's Roleplay, while an open roleplay where everyone is invited to
join, is not a limitless or unregulated game. There are rules we have set
ourselves that make roleplaying easier and more enjoyable for everyone of us.
Please take the time and read the following guidelines carefully and, more
importantly, act according to them.
1. Have fun!
2. Fun does not mean you can do whatever you want, though.
Let us please clarify some points. While everyone is welcome to join in, they
are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING
IT FIRST. Let's be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:
Affecting other characters:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good.
Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
Major Events:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political(converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
For the purpose of coordinating this RP, backstage fun and discussing current
and future events, we have established a chatroom on chatspike.net, chatroom
#Loranna_RP. We strongly recommend that you have a glimpse in there, since it
is the easiest and most convenient way to discuss characters and settings,
explain rules, plan and give you the background information you need to play in
this RP. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the
player whose character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM
them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP You'll enter our chat channel and we can
talk to you.
Here are various other rules, tips and information you should take time
to read before joining this RP:
1. Background History:
Loranna's RP has accumulated a rich background history. Of course, no-one can
know all that has happened in this RP, but it is important that you have at
least an idea about the major events that took place during the last
one-and-a-half years. There are a few posts of Loranna that explain the history
of the RP from her character's viewpoint and a summary of the events in the RP
is in progress, you can find them
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rhod0091/lrp/temp.html. Another summary is available as
text file from Nalion, please ask via our chatspike channel or per PM to Nalion
for the time being. We are working on a more permanent solution to provide this
information.
The chatroom #Loranna_RP on chatspike is probably the best and fastest way to
get yourself informed about the RP, just ask the moderators and long-time
players there if you need any information. They will gladly help you. It is
also very advisable to read up on the most recent posts and threads to become a
grasp of what is happening right now in the RP. This will significantly help
you in finding a way to join the action and will reduce the probabiliy of
mistakes.
2. Reading and catching up on the RP:
We're a dedicated lot of players, and we love this RP. This means we put a lot
of effort in our posts, do a lot of planning and discussing to create our
plotlines. This requires time and dedication. And we require this of you as
well. This means, take your time to read the posts of the other players and
take the time to catch up on the plot if it progressed while you were away.
This simplifies your rejoin into the action. It is also a sign of respect to
the other players. If you don't have the time to read their posts, why should
they bother with yours, then?
Again, please let me repeat this, for it is very important. If you are not able
or willing to put time and at least reasonable effort in this RP, think again
whether you want to join this RP or not.
3. Gathering information
Gather information about the RP, be it asking in chat, by reading older posts
and getting up to date on the history or by asking via PM. No-one can know
everything, sure, but everyone can ask about what happened. We're glad to
assist! Again, this can not be done without some interest in the ongoings in
the RP, effort and a good bit of dedication.
4. Roleplaying
Roleplaying doesn't just involve making your character say something
(in-character chat). It also has a descriptive element. Motions and emotions of
your character, worries, joys, mimics, movements... we want to see them!
Describe how your character acts, this gives you a better grasp of your
character and will help your fellow players build up a relationship to your character.
It's not only action and big fights we have here in this RP, there is a major
social aspect to it as well.
5. Posting
Try to take your time to post. Yes, we are aware that there are hectic scenes,
like in big combats, where some things move faster, but is it in general a good
idea to look over your post again to check it. Yes, we know it sounds stupid
and obvious, but please care about spelling, punctuation and grammar. They are
not just things you learned in school once to forget afterwards. We are no
decryption experts. Those grammar rules have their meaning, and there are tools
out there to help you(word spell checker for example). Again, the chat is a
perfect way to ask for
time and coordinate with other players if you have problems.
6. Character control / multiple characters
Once more, about controlling characters that belong to other players: You
cannot control a character that is not your own (with a few exceptions, like
having talked to the player of the character beforehand). This means most
of the time the following:
* In combat, you can only try to attack another character, but whether
you hit him or how much damage is inflicted is up to the player of the
character, and only him/her.
* This applies to healing or helping the character as well; feel free to try
and offer help to a character, but let the other player describe the effects of
the healing/helping.
* Especially in combat, you have to work closely with the other players, the
chatroom is the best and easiest method to discuss these things.
Another thing related to this topic is referring or speaking to other
characters whose players are not online. If possible, try to avoid involving
characters when their player is not present. It ties down your character while
waiting for the other player to come back, and you don't know whether the
respective player has other plans when he is back.
Additionally, avoid generating scenes where you involve a character, affect him
with an action and finish the action before the player can react (stealing,
attacking, casting spells or similar actions). Example: No running up to
someone, rob him and run away to safety all in one post. This is a no go.
Controlling multiple characters. We have no written limits on how many
characters you may control; the limit is you. In general, it is very advisable
that you stick to one character when you are new to RPing. When creating a
character, it is VERY important that you consider your character carefully.
Again, this has something to do with effort and dedication. It is generally a
bad sign if you join up, post a couple of posts and then say you are bored with
this character and make a new one. Other players might get annoyed greeting and
introducing their characters to a new character when it is obvious that this
character will not last long because the player gets bored with the new
character. This RP is a social RP as well, and it is very difficult to
socialize with a character that is badly played, where you can see by the style
of writing that the player is already bored with the character and will throw
him away at the next opportunity. RPing is all about characters and your
character is your "representative" in this RP, your voice, your arm,
your mind. Please take this into account when creating and playing your
character.
As a general rule of thumb, use only one character until you feel comfortable
with him, can control him, have fun with him and the character is established
in the RP. The rest will run automatically after a while when you get more
confident and experienced in RPing.
7. Secret plans
Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're
revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards
they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them. Examples: Your character
suddenly remembers that he has a castles all over Tamriel and calls in troops
to help. Or: Your character suddenly reveals he is a spy of the Emperor and
knows everything.
8. Ingame consequences of character actions:
Morrowind the game was rather lenient when it came to direct consequences after
a character's action. This is not the case in our RP. There are laws and local
customs, and there are guards and other authorities that are there to enforce
them. So, starting tavern brawls, stealing, murdering, open assault and all
other related actions are very likely to be persecuted and punished (this can
go up from your character ending up in jail, being banished or to be executed).
This doesn't mean that there are no murders or thefts in the RP, but it does
mean that if you do that, be aware of the consequences your character will have
to deal with.
9. Additional helpful information:
Please make sure that you read the following post of Allerleirauh
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855,
dealing with some of the above mentioned rules, as well as the hints on
character generation done by Loranna
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=3828224.
Please take the above mentioned rules and information into careful
consideration, they will help you in joining this RP quickly and are useful to
avoid problems. And more importantly: act according to them!
** Not following the above advice will only result in two things: your
post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone else as if it did not
happen and/or you are asked to leave the RP. This is obviously not good for
anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them and act according to
the rules mentioned above. **
Thank you, and have fun!

"The Southern Passage then," Red-Rock-Shadows nodded, and the group
stepped into the Center of the village, an enormous cavern dug into the
mountain. A whirlwind of energy at the ceiling, a hundred feet up, illuminated
the square.
It was once a thriving small city. Shops and homes were easily to spot, carved

Gram drops the empty vial of Cure Disease potion he drank a moment ago, the
glass vial crunching under his armored foot.
"That big glowing mass of magicka is still going strong after all these
years; it must have been one hell of a mage to put it up there," he says,
duly impressed.
He still held Frostkiss at the ready, his eyes glancing around the shops and
homes. This would be another good place for an ambush ...[21]

The sisters tread carefully along merely glimpsing up at the ceiling before
refocusing on the area around them. Osa wondered if the energy was purely for
lighting, or something else entirely. She grips her held Scroll tighter as she
walks on[27]

Red-Rock-Shadow nodded in agreement. They had entered from the north, and

The sisters listen as Nalion gives his advice, carefully eyeing the pit and
considering their limited options. Osa is rummaging through her Bag producing
two small Potion Bottles, and handing one to Ora, stand by to see what the rest
of the groups to do. [63]
Athaso inched towards the giant chasm and peered down into it. "No light or anything down there..." he said as he kicked a small rock into the pit, listening for a bottom, but heard nothing. "I'm no mage, but I might have a scroll of levitation," he continued as he took his pack of his back. [64]

Shaka dug out an amulet that would permit him to levitate for a few minutes,
but held off on activating it . . . .[69]

were not the fast footed vampires they had faced before, there could be no

"Everyone have levitation?" said Shaka urgently. He was already
drifting across the chasm; unfortunately the amulet didn't lend speed to one's
flight. Shaka had scrolls of Windwalker in his scrollcase, but was holding off
on using them until they were outdoors and in dire need. [80]
Nalion heard the
footsteps and began chanting the spell to conjure up an aura that would repel
the undead, sincerely hoping that it would at least have a little effect. Then,
he cast levitation - just to be sure - and began crossing the bridge.
"Uh, don't fight if not utterly necessary. We might be able to outrun
them. We need to find Taolle. Go!" [81]

The khajiit mage growled softly, casting a decently powerful levitation spell

"This could be worse." He said offhandedly, the spell wearing off
just as he reached the other side of the chasm. [92]
With a shrug, Gram bolts after Isidor, keeping an eye behind him in case a shambling undead happens to show up.[93]

The low, hungry moan of the zombie echoed forth behind him. There were dozens
of them. Redguards who had made their homes in the mountains, and now were

more minutes. The group still had an unknown distance to travel.[105]
Reichi had already
downed a levitation potion and floated across the chasm, but heard the

mixed with the moan of zombies.
They began shambling towards the heroes, and there were a lot of them. It

[126]
Gram reaches Red-Rock and Reichi, Spellbreaker held up to protect him,
Frostkiss out to hack at any zombies.
"Nalion, Slyvos, let them have it!" he yells. "Everyone with a
holy sword, unsheathe them and herd the zombies away from our path!"
He looks to Red Rock. "Have you gotten this thing working?" he asks.[127]

Shaka summoned a Storm Atronach, the first of their mission. The golem appeared
near Gram and moved forward to try to help clear a path. The unliving Atronach
was faster on his feet than the zombies.[132]

Slyvos almost laughed, the tembling starting again as he got into position to
start dealing with the multitude of zombies that were heading towards the
group.
He channelled his magicks into his arms again, his eyes burning with the
intensity of the power, as he shot off a nicely powered fireball spell at the
back of the large force of zombies. It hit in about 20 ft, immolating the dry
dead flesh. [137]

"I'm not exactly sure --" Red-Rock-Shadow called back before throwing
a bolt of lightning at a zombie that was approaching her. "I'm not exactly
sure what 'this thing' is, but some kind of transport --"
The whine of machinery drowned out her words as a tarnished metal platform with
a railing around it crashed through a group of zombies to the west. It moved
quickly, gliding slightly above the ground, until it came to rest at the tower.
It was a horseless carriage of some kind.

The mage had cleared the bridge and was now taking position just a bit behind
and to the side of Gram. His hands already glowed red and flames shot through
his fingers as he summoned magoc fire and unleashed it in a sizzling ball of
heat towards the zombies.
He shot a brief glance at the Argonian female and Reichi to see if their doing
had any effect, then saw the moving platform.
"I think we have to try this then!", Nalion shouted, pointing to the
device, then directed another fireball towards a nearby zombie before jumping
onto the dwemeri transportation machine. [147]
Isidor, Tsei, and Ingmar had may their way across the bridge, Isidor slashing his way through a group of zombies, and the trio was now over with the rest of the vanguard. [148]

P'Rassha, who was behind Gram, found himself caught between the zombies and the
Atronach.
With an elegant acrobatic strike, he kicked a zombie with his left leg, grabbed
him with his tail and threw it off the bridge. With his remaining strength, he
jumped past the atronach and continued his run towards the other end of the
bridge, dodging a bolt of fiery fire manifested by Nalion.
"This is not P'Rassha's day, thought the khajiit." [153]

The sisters are momentarily cut off from the rest of the group...the Frost Attronach has other plans though as it concentrates its power, freezing Zombie after Zombie while the two sisters shatter the frozen undead with Sword and Arrow, most exploding into icy chuncks when Osa's Arrows unleash an area of effect spell...both are nearly to Grams position as the Frost Attronachs time expires, just as both reach the carriage [159]

down on the dwemer machine. "The Atronach will help delay the remaining
zombies. Let's try this machine."
[164]
Athaso drew the
blessed sword in the midst of all the chaos. He rejoined with the others and
managed to hack off a few zombified limbs with the blade. Fortunately, zombies
were much slower than vampires.
Upon hearing Gram's order Athaso pushed through the mass, swinging his sword
out in front of him until he reached the "Dwarven Ferry"... [165]
Isidor, Tsei, and Ingmar jump onto the carriage, as Tsei casts a shock spell over her shoulder at the zombies. [166]

Now Slashes was busy trying to fight off undead zombies that marched towards

fall he ran to help get the machine under control. He was stronger than her,
partly due to her lighter construction for flying. [214]

Nalion was knocked off his feet and lost ground as the platform speeded forward
and let out a loud yell of surprise. The mage managed to barely grab a
protruding metal part before he would have inevitable been knocked off the
barge. Cursing himself for not thinking about holding tight on something before
Red-Rock-Shadow turned the second wheel.
The wind blew in his face, giving him a feeling at which speed the barge moved.
With effort, he stood up to join the Argonian female again, this time, taking

There were more cries all around them, and a second undead harpy dove at Osa.

"Go faster!", Nalion shouted to Red-Rock-Shadow as he turned towards
the harpies. He still held on tight to the railing with his left hand, but with

Gram raises the Spellbreaker, the Dwemer shield shimmering faintly as the
undead harpy's talons rake its enchanted metal. Gram grunts and the harpy
screams in pain as the Blessing of Arkay causes it to flinch away in pain,
careening crazily in the air.
"I do more damage blocking than I do striking with this shield," Gram
notes, having tried to lop off a wing or leg as the harpy passed him by.

Red-Rock-Shadow nodded to Nalion, and pushed the wheel hard. Suddenly, the once
distant factory loomed large straight ahead.
The scream of the harpies in the darkness intensified. Many more were coming,
spurring on by the death cries of those slain by frost, shock, and magicka.
Suddenly, Gram was gone, pulled off the cart as it rocketed towards the

Gram struggles in the grip of the undead horror that has him, but the looming
chasm below him reminds him that he has neither levitation nor slowfall handy.
The harpy screeches again, presumably in mocking triumph as Gram struggles in
its talons; the Nord warrior can see a second harpy flying at him with talons
outstretched, looking to snatch the prize away from her undead sister.
"Kyne!" Gram roars ...[369]
Shaka shouted,
"Get Gram, someone!" He didn't need to add, He's also carrying
Spellbreaker, and we need it.
The battlemage activated the levitation amulet and, for the first time in his
new life, the Ra'Gada power of Adrenaline Rush. It only took an act of will.
As Shaka kicked off from the platform's railing, the harpies and adventurers
seemed to go into slow motion. The battlemage's time sense, his strength, his
speed -- all were temporarily superhuman.
It seemed easy to bring the Spear around in a sweep that should shatter several
of the undead harpies . . . .[370]

"Gram!", Nalion shouted, for a moment peeking insecurely down into
the chasm, then, before his mind would tell him that he was acting reckless,
the mage jumped after Gram, without casting spells. The companions saw his robe
fluttering, then, the mage was quickly out of sight.
The rush of the wind as he fell was breathtaking, but the sound of Gram's
strong voice could be heard. The mage waved his arms in significant effort and
cast slowfall on himself and tried to control his rapid descent.
Then, he saw the large Nord struggling with a Harpy. [375]

Anya turns and takes aim. With the heavy weight they had, the harpies were much
easy to lead. In bosmer fashion, she pulled the string and released the arrow
in a smooth move. The arrow arced at hit a harpy latching onto Gram, and she
moved onto the next, looking to slow them down and prevent Gram from being
hauled off. [385]
Slyvos growled, about
the hurl a fireball at the undead wretch hauling off his father-in-law, before
realizeing that doing such would hurt him just as much. "damnit..."
He helped out by blasting those that would attempt to get in the way of those
trying to save Gram, unable to do much else. [386]
Athaso watched the

or a bow. He watched helplessly as Gram was hauled off and several others had
leaped after him. In the rush of the moment, Athaso felt himself lundge after
them, but regained and stopped himself before flying off the platform.
He simply weilded the lighter sacred broadsword in his left hand, holding it
high hoping to scare of the Harpies, and his silver longsword in his right,
lashing out at any that got close to the dwemer contraption. [387]
"Blasted bird
brained monstrosities!" Reichi yelled, cleaving a harpy's skull in twain
with the holy shortsword. The blade managed to keep others back, and only a
foolish or brave would attempt to attack every now and then. Reichi had seen

of little use in such endeavor, he was suited for closer combats.

Shaka's senses were still so heightened by the Adrenaline Rush that it seemed
as if the area-effect spell blossomed in slow motion, a strangely beautiful
sight.
The shattered fragments of two harpies tumbled away from the Spear as the thought
ran through his mind: That's a brave female. I hope she and Hesek can talk
after this, if we survive . . . .
Still levitating, Shaka turned for the factory and struck a third harpy with
the Spear, as a quarterstaff. He realized that the time was running out on his
Adrenaline Rush, and that he would pay for it afterward. [408]
Athaso jumped off the cart as it came to a sudden stop in the covered walkway. He ran to the edge of the chasm, but could see nothing; those who jumped had fallen out of view, and the harpies seemed to have their eyes set on them. "Well this sucks," he said to no one in particular... [409]

Shaka levitated up to the walkway, and landed in a crouch, spent. Time speeded

[500] The metal door clanged
down with a bang. Immediately there was the deafening sound of multiple
bodies battering against it, from the harpies that hadn’t veered away in
time. The sound then continued softer as the creatures threw themselves
against it with less force. Finally, the sound was replaced with relentless
scratching and the whirring of wings.
The harpies in the factory with them immediately fell on the heroes, talons
outstretched.
[502]
Having little to do with the Gram rescue, both sisters engage Harpies as they
attempt to take peoples heads off...Osa finally reaching for another Scroll, no
sooner does she activate it then a Winged Twilight springs forth, combating any
Harpies in it's path, the Twilight, Ora would later note, looked rather upset
with it's distant cousins, even know squeezing the life out of one Harpy and
dropping it while swooping to grab another...Osa merely backs any she can with
various Arrows
When all was clear the sisters take another breather [503]
[504] QUOTE(Loranna @ Mar 8 2006, 11:25 PM)
[505] "I agree," Gram says, settling Trueturner more comfortably on his back. "Hmm ... perhaps we can float up those chimneys to get out of here and avoid the harpies? We're still on a deadline."
[507]
"Sounds like a good idea to me," Sivartus said, nodding to the Nord.
"But what does this machine do?" [508]
[509] QUOTE(Nalion @ Mar 9 2006, 12:21 AM)
[510] Nalion didn't get much
time to breathe after the gates were closed. The Harpies inside pressed on the
companions and the mage moved to assist Gram in his fight.
Shielded by a magical shell that he cast around him, Nalion sent a blast of
fire against a Harpy, hot enough to sear away the ugly rotten and stinking
flesh that remained on the living corpse.
Nalion looked at the gigantic machine with fascination.
"I wonder what this does...", Nalion muttered, "Generating
energy to power the village with steam? Or the lighting that the Dwemer
typically use?"
[512]
"It hasn't been used for a long time ... I wouldn't want to turn it on to
find out," Red-Rock-Shadow replied, touching its metal surface.
"Hists' Blood, we're so close ..."
She pulled out the map, tracing their route through the mountain. "That's
Mount Nombaje, if we can just get through ..."

[517]
Gram touches the metal surface himself, rapping on it. "Hmm ..." he
says, looking around.
After several moments, he says "Hey! Look over here." He points to a
small ladder which leads up to a hatch in one of the chimneys. "Looks like
they left us a door," he says, grinning.[518]

[522]
Ora is the first to approach as she peers up the lightless chimney "So who
wants to go first?" she questions
Osa still has an Arrow strung as she surveys the perimeter for any threats,
mesmerized by the contraption in front of her. "This is going to be one
fantastic story" she thinks as she continues her guard duties [523]

"Well, these chimneys could lead somewhere, and perhaps there are air
ducts or anything similar that lead outside.", Nalion said and nodded to
Gram.
"Or something like a ladder...", he said as Gram spoke up about his
finding and peeked upwards. [528]

"Well then," Sivartus said, looking at the ladders, "Let's see

He made his way over to the ladder leading up into the chimney, and started to
climb, but decided to cast levitate. He floated slowly up the chimney. [533]

[537]
It was a tight, claustrophobic space, and the screams of the harpies outside
was almost unbearable. Whether the heroes climbed or floated, the ascent seemed
endless.
But at last there was light above them.
And above that, a mountain peak. It was not Mount Nombaje, but its neighbor to

are far off the mark, both curse as they make their way back towards the

Nalion cursed out of disappointment, gazing over at the place they were

hope for much.

The source of the voice was a narrow ridge, going alongside the mountain, and

Gram privately vows, when he recounts this tale, to embelish any fighting that
takes place near finding Goranthir so that the poor boy doesn't have to endure
the shame of being defeated by 'a good talking to'. As a man, he owed Goranthir
that much.
Then again, the tale might not need too much embellishing, he reflects as he
takes the point again, feeling an unconscious urge to impress the old Bosmer
with his alacrity and attentiveness to keeping everyone safe. Especially after
that somewhat embarrasing turn with the harpies.[679]
The group and Taolle
followed the ridge along the mountain. It was a treacherous path, and everytime
Taolle nearly fell and someone helped upright her, she would smile and shake
her head. "This is much faster with you here, thank you."
Night was beginning to fall, and temperatures were dropping in the high peaks
as they neared Mount Nombaje.
[680]
Meanwhile, in the
Royal Palace of Sentinel:
The preperations were complete, or at least the preperations she could
reasonably help with were complete. The armies were making their way to their
respective desintations, there to await Red-Rock-Shadow's signal. Her friends
by now were well within the Pass, hopefully making good time and catching up to
Taolle before it was too late.
There was nothing more Loranna could do now, except wait - that being, of
course, the hardest thing to do.
Finding a balcony in one of the palaces's domed towers, Loranna looks out over
the skyline of Sentinel, her eyes restlessly roaming over every shop, home, and
tavern they could see. She pulls her cloak a little more tightly around herself
and leans on the balcony, groaning a tiny bit as she takes someof the weight
off her feet.[681]

"I'm rather afraid I've been thinking less like a Duchess and more like an

"I wish I could see the stars again," Taolle mused thoughtfully.
"When I was younger, there was such beauty in them, and I taught myself
how to read the signs in the constellations ..."

[708] Loranna blushes a bit,
though she smiles warmly as she turns. "Your Majesty," she
says, holding out her arms to offer the Queen Mother a fond embrace.
"I'm rather afraid I've been thinking less like a Duchess and more like an
adventurer since I finished brewing the elixers," she says, after her
blush subsides. "Do all the important things myself, travel light
... well, as light as the woman carrying all the artifacts for the vanguard can
travel."
"How are you doing, Your Majesty?" Loranna asks.
[710]
"Considering half the Empire is here because of my family and my idiot
daughter, pretty well," Barenziah nodded. "I understand my former
son-in-law will be coming shortly as well. And the Indoril Redoran Alliance, or
a faction thereof, is assisting the army. Strange times."[711]

astrology.
The effect on Anya was as profound as it was fleeting. The darkness left her in
the one moment that they had touched, both the gift and the curse. The terror
of the death aura was upon her, but Taolle's touch had kept her alive and safe
... and mortal.

"One could argue it's been strange times since Vivec cast Azura down and
some barmaid got foolish delusions of heroism in her pretty little head,"
Loranna says, grinning just a little. "I suppose we can take some comfort
in the Indoril showing that some of their priorities are still straight though,
even if Glacia tells me their councellor was a bit officious about the whole
matter."
She sighs, and looks back over the city, the stars shining in the night sky.

two years though," she admits. "And the first one where the Emperor

Anya's voice was low, almost too quiet for anyone to hear, "No... come
back..."
She leaned over a bit, the feelings of breath, pain, cold of the night air, all
ebbing away. Anya shook her head, "Forgive me, Mother, but I need a
moment."
Anya detached from the group, moving a fair distance away. She leaned over, and
vomited. She stayed in that position, wiping her mouth. She was glad it was
night, and not one would notice the ripple in her skin color. The feelings were
so fleeting, though, that she had nothing to hold on to, nothing to keep, which
was well since she didn't need anything overwhelming her right now.
Glancing back up, Anya hurried to rejoin the group. She moved near Taolle, but
kept a visible distance, close enough to listen to her monologue. [726]

He could not help but glance at Chalovk occasionally; her wings were so
seductive. No, he could not think that way, he had to forget about her. She had
left him, hadn't she? His mind became confused for a moment trying to decipher
the past again. No, he had to stop thinking about her that way.
She was looking at him too. What was she thinking? Did she remember the past
the same way he did?
He happened to glance down at his hands, the Hist tree and Wamasus inlays
caught his eyes. The Hist tree reminded him of his past: his naming day
ceremony, his life as a a soldier in Argonia, meeting Chalovk, the wondrous
times they had together, the break up when he was transferred to Helstrom, then

Red-Rock-Shadow gets her answer in a moment, as the several snakelike things
suddenly rear up and begin gunning for the party, a wailing chorus of agonized
moans rising up to howl in their ears.
When the creatures get closer, the gruesome truth is revealed, for the
snakelike things are neither snakes nor worms - they're corpses, linked
together head to foot like a macarbe centipede, their bodies bearing intricate scars
imbedded with shards of volcanic glass and their arms pierced with spikes of
ebony, culminating in long talonlike spikes run through the tips of their
fingers. The eyes of the poor undead wretches have been systemically gouged out
and replaced with darkly-glowing opals, which even Gram can sense pulsate with
corrupted magicka.
There are six in all of the multi-bodied abominations, and with a discordant
cacophony of inhuman torment, they try to bull rush their way past the party,
spiked arms lashing out indiscriminately, opals burning with automatically-cast
curses to weaken and debilitate.
It's obvious though, who their real target is - Taolle.[860]

While Red-Rock-Shadow has a moment with no party members in her path, she
unleashes the lightning spell she had been preparing, the fingers of
electricity arching out in a fan, to strike as many of the abominations as
possible.
[865]
Isidor drew the Holy Claymore and pushed foward at the rushing ... things, while Tsei casts regeneration spells on the party, and Ingmar stays back with Taolle. [866]
Hesek draws the holy longsword with his left hand while putting his claymore on his back again with his right. He wondered if it came to it how strong a shock spell he could muster up, nothing like Chalovk's. [867]
Reichi had backed away to protect Taolle, and drawn a scroll from his satchel. When the abominations bull-rushed the heroes, he had cast the scroll's spell, a sheilding one, on Taolle to keep her safe. "Those with melee weapons and holy blades to the front, keep the beasts at bay, mages stay back and protect Taolle!" he shouted, moving forward to intercept one of the things before it could reach Taolle, striking viciously with the holy blade and relegating Bloodfang to fending off attacks. snakelike things are neither snakes nor worms - they're corpses, linked
together head to foot like a macarbe centipede, their bodies bearing intricate
scars imbedded with shards of volcanic glass and their arms pierced with spikes
of ebony, culminating in long talonlike spikes run through the tips of their
fingers. The eyes of the poor undead wretches have been systemically
gouged out and replaced with darkly-glowing opals, which even Gram can sense
pulsate with corrupted magicka.
There are six in all of the multi-bodied abominations, and with a discordant
cacophony of inhuman torment, they try to bull rush their way past the party,
spiked arms lashing out indiscriminately, opals burning with automatically-cast
curses to weaken and debilitate.
It's obvious though, who their real target is - Taolle.
[873]
Slyvos balked at the sight of the creatures, his eyes gleaming with a desire to
bring destruction to these monstrousities. Years ago, he'd appreciated the
sight; now, he would only appreciate the sight of them burnt to cinders.
He took a shot when he had an opening, launching an absorb health spell at the
creatures to test if they had any way of reflecting his magic. [874]
Gram raises the
Spellbreaker, and the blessed shield flares as it turns back many of the curses
flung at the party by the glowing opal eyes. He bellows in Nordic fashion and
advances.
Anya's arrows and Red-Rock-Shadow's lightning both pepper the six squirming
beasts, burning and charring decayed flesh. Flecks of volcanic glass fall to
the ground, but the initial assaults seem to do little to actually deter the
creatures. When the holy swords are brought forth, however, the writhing
monsters pause, and the tenor of their moaning changes, becoming fearful,
cautious.
By Kyne, Gram thinks to himself with sudden shock, as he looks into the
decayed face of one of the corpses leering down at him. That wasn't a face
of pain - it was a face of esctasty! They enjoyed their torment!
Slyvos's initial spell shows no innate reflection on these creatures, though
the damage they suffered seems negligable, repairing quickly through dark
magic. The holy swords, however, leave wounds that do not heal ...
Suddenly, the corpsapedes split up, two each turning to face Slashes, Isidor,
and Reichii. The glowing opals in the corpses eyes flare and necromantic curses
to sap the strength and vitality fly at the three warriors, raining down upon
them like arrows, before the worms seek to entwine each of them in their
putrid, spiked 'coils'.[875]

[879]
"Die, [censored]!" Isidor said, as the spells hit him. Swinging the
claymore in a circle at the two approaching corpsapedes, hoping to drive them
back with the Holy Sword's power, and to cut the coils.
Ingmar and Tsei kept their positions around Tsei. [880]

[884]
Reichi backed away, "Tsei, we need help," he called out. "And
anything any other mage has to offer would be fine." He struck out with
the blades, trying to remove limbs from the corpseapede, so that it would be
unable to move.
"Dispells, restore attributes, fortifies, turn undead..." [885]

[889]
Red-Rock-Shadow had backed up to defend Taolle, and as Reichi was the closest
to her, she cast a Dispel to remove the abomination's curse that had been
launched at him.[890]

[894]
Tsei cast another wave of regeneration spells on the warriors, before drinking
down a restore magicka potion. Restored, she focused on hitting the creatures
with her most powerful turn undead spell, hoping it would be some sort of help.
[895]
Hesek casts reflection to protect himself from the spells flying at him. He charges with a hiss, swinging the sword in a wild but well coordinated arc, striking at any part of the creature he can. He manages to chop the head off one of the monstrosities. [896]
Erenius notes the ones
going after Reichi, and Isidor, and chooses one of those to hew into. Noting
the closest one was that which was engaged with Isidor, and he joins the Nord
in the attack.
As he parries a blow by one of its too many arms, Erenius counter-strikes, in
an attempt to lob off that extra arm at its source. He only hopes that, should
the strike connect properly, and sever the arm fully, their magicks cant simply
regenerate entire limbs that easily. [897]

spiked 'coils'.
[901]
Slyvos takes note of their massive regeneration abilities, trying to figure out
a method to help take them out. He had to have something useful in that mind of
his; they're undead, and undead can be turned, so... that's it!
Slyvos tossed a powerful Turn Undead spell at one of the worm creatures,
hopeing that it works well enough to keep the thing at bay... [902]
Anya snarled, annoyed with the resilence of these creatures. She began aiming at the areas where the bodies seemed to conjoin. This let the enchantments on her arrows erupt within the monstrosties, but she also happed to break them apart and slow down their effectiveness. [903]
It was impossible for
those up close to the corpsepedes to avoid all their flailing limbs and
smashing bodies; Reichi, Isidor, Gram, Erenius, and Hesek each suffer several
painful cuts, though Tsei's regeneration spell helps to mitigate the damage the
warriors face. Isidor and Slashes are still feeling the enervating effects of
the curses, which sap the strength from their blows.
Erenius's sword strikes manage to sever an arm or two, though he'll note with
dismay that the arms keep moving, still animated by the dark energies that
permeate the land. One scuttling arm tries to sink their spikes into his legs
and otherwise deter him, while the second scampers its way toward Taolle.
Anya's arrows manage to knock apart two of the worms in half, though the halves
continue to fight, thus creating four smaller monsters in place of two larger
ones. Two of the smaller ones likewise take off, trying to make for Taolle.
The Turn Undead spells Tsei and Slyvos cast resonate with the Swords of Saint
Meris, causing the corpsapedes to shrink back a bit. The body parts struck by
the holy swords seem to lose whatever animating power that drives them, though
the worms as a whole keep lurching.
Gram slams the Spellbreaker into another flailing arm, cursing as a spike draws
a painful gash across his chin. The six worms still facing the sword wielders
swarm around one another, temporarily joining into one three-'headed' corpse
hydra that tries to smash Isidor and Slashes into bloody pulps before anyone
can dispel the curses on them.[904]

Erenius, grimacing through the cut to his leg, almost exactly where the
assassin had managed to strike him while in Firsthold, grabs the dismemberred
arm by the wrist and tosses it to the ground, laying his steel boot onto it,
hearing a satisfying snap! as its various bones break under his weigh.
He then strikes again, plunging his blade into the corpses with a thrust, his
blade striking what he thinks is a skull, but nevertheless feeling the
resistance give out after just a split moment, replaced with seeping liquids
from something that made up this mass of conjoined corpses. [909]

[913]
Red-Rock-Shadows looked with horror at the creature about to crush Isidor and
Slashes. She would only have time for one spell -- but what could aid her
friends and hurt her foes both?
Then she launched a powerful Heal spell in an area effect around them all:
corpsapede and hero alike. If Isidor and Slashes were hurt, hopefully it would
give them a fighting chance ... But the effect on the corpsapede was unknown.
If the death aura and the pain of the lightning and arrows gave them pleasure,
perhaps healing would cause them pain ... or, hopefully, worse ... [914]
Hesek feels the healing spell flow through him. His injuries heal, but the curse remains in effect, sapping his strength. He rolls backwards, away from the beast. When he comes to a stop he removes the curse from himself and renews his reflection. [915]
Reichi turned to the 'hydra' corpsapede, and rushed at it, ducking low to force his way through its' defenses as he struck for the thing's head(s) with the holy shortsword. He hoped that loss of a head to the blade would disable it entirely, as loss of limbs to it had left them bereft of unlife. [916]
I hate to interrupt you all but this is past the post limit[917] [918] Time for part 3! [919]
