Welcome to the
newly refreshed Hogithum Hall. Various notes, gifts, and research
materials may be picked up in the former Hall.
There is one week left until
Hogithum, 21st First Seed (21st March), upon which the summoning of
Azura will commence, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Your
questions for Azura may be formed and/or refined here, and you may
also continue to examine Lord Vehk, the accused.
We urge
everyone to be mindful of the varied cultures and customs
represented in this Hall. We expect disagreements in proceedings
such as these, but we also expect them to be handled among the
participants in a respectful manner. The Bailiff will only intervene
in the case of petty squabbling, litter thrown on the floor,
inappropriate outbursts from overly excited spectators, or anything
else that causes a significant disruption in the proceedings.
Please. Continue...
OOC -- For anyone just
now joining us, I want to clarify that this is neither a typical
lore discussion thread nor a roleplaying story thread (RP stories
should now be posted in the Community Discussion forum), but it has
elements of both. Everyone is welcome to participate, but before
doing so, please be familiar with all that has gone before. It will
take some time to get caught up, but it's well worth the effort (and
could prevent some misunderstandings) if you want to join the
proceedings. Start with this thread and follow the links at the
end of each.

I'm still
trying to contact my master Celarus ... to have someone of knowledge
and power in this place ... and to get me out of here ...
By
the way, when I contact him -- Nael suggested that his madness had
something to do with Sheogorath's distraction ... would it be good
if I had my master remove that? Would it be better to have Nael's
sanity back, and Sheogorath ... undistracted?

Hmm, that's quite a conundrum.
I suggest leaving the decision up to your master, as he would likely
know best in such a matter. We'll try to do what we can with
whatever may be the result. Best of luck to you in contacting him.

Well, I've had
no luck contacting him thus far, and I've been trying. You
have plenty of time I imagine to decide whether you'd like Nael
lucid again and the chance of the Mad God peeking in on this court,
or the situation to continue as it has.
Of course, since the
Prince of Insanity is -- bizarre as it may sound -- Vehk's character
witness, I will request His awful presence if the indubitably guilty
former-God requests it.

I'm not an
expert in these matters, but it does seem kindest to relieve Nael's
suffering. Your master's insights would be welcome.

Yes, of course.
Since
you haven't been able to contact Celarus, I agree with Lady
Allerleirauh. It might indeed be preferable to ease Nael's suffering
sooner rather than later (especially as we don't know when "later"
may be). We'll deal with the consequences of future visits from the
Mad God as they come, I suppose.

I agree. I was beginning to
question whether Nael's present state of mind may not have been
acquired through his own decision to pledge himself to the Mad One.
If he is suffering this madness unwittingly, as it now appears, then
we should most certainly seek to relieve him of the burden by all
means possible.

Anger! Anger!
You would only pique his Anger! My Master's ire would be quite a
danger! Do not tamper with my mind, it is quite impossible you will
find. The only chance to save me in this way, is by a blessing from

Vehk,
Though my presence within this trial has come so late, I am
obligated nonetheless bring these charges…rather these inquiries
directly upon you. Whether or not I warrant an answer from thee, it
cannot hurt to merely try and question one with as much prestige as
yourself.
You deem yourself to be the guardian of our
people, yet you have shown otherwise. I am not one to cast around
words of fallacy but it is your own words that shall curse you in
the end. You have reiterated it yourself in your own words in among
the pages of the 36 sermons that you incurred the wrath of the
Tsaesci, knowing full well the ire of the consequences to come. You
were to keep the sanctity of our land from the grasps of danger and
destruction but alas you’ve directed the wrath of the wandering
Elhnofey toward us not only once but twice. The peril of another
invasion or a thread to our people by the Tsaesci may be at hand for
they have sworn to smite us thrice.
The first came to be
during the age of the potent Reman Dynasty under the guidance of the
Akaviri potentates which coerced the land of Resadyn to submission.
Such allegations would say that you had an indirect affect on
endangering our people into the hands of these mere humans.
Alas this would not it be end for the snake-men that would
strike at us directly, I am to believe that these events came to be
under the influence and direction of the Tsaesci. Yes, Ada’soom
Dir-Kamal was repelled but only by the intervention of Ayem and the
human king, Wulfharth but at what cost did this come to be? Where
were you during these unfortunate events?
Once again the
Tsaesci would attack us again and were it not for your fanciful
tactics of flooding our beloved land, all would have been lost. How
many lives must be loss before you decided to Save us?
Are my words of fallacy, Vehk or shall you say that I have
misconstrued your words and history itself? What is your retort to
such queries? Am I mistaken to indict of the dangers that one as
prolific as you subjected our people to?

Good points.
And they made me think, which is also good.
Vehk, in the
Sermons, you mention many monsters begotten by you. I understand
that the Sermons are allegory in some places; but it is considered
history that the region around Molag Amur was devastated by a tribe
of monsters, created when you were seduced by Molag Bal.
From The House of Troubles:
Quote:
Molag Bal is, in Morrowind, the King of Rape. He tries to
upset the bloodlines of Houses and otherwise ruin the Dunmer gene
pool. A race of monsters, said to live in Molag Amur, are the
result of his seduction of Vivec during the previous era.
The devastation of Molag Amur,
it would seem, is the direct result of your act. What say
you?
I would also remind you, Vehk, that you have not
answered many questions put to you in the previous Hall.

In truth, I’m
really not sure how I feel about freeing the Man One from his
distraction. Ultimately, we will not know if we made the right
decision until after one has been made. If we agree to Gosleigh’s
idea, we must prepare ourselves, for I fear that Sheog...umm...the
Mad One will be a little angry.
On a related note, might I
suggest that we try to finalize our list of questions by midweek so
that we can tend to other matters. I think we need to take some
precautions for our Daedric visitor on the 21st.
Ainoryl, my
offer to help still stands.

I understand
there is a strange and disturbing aura emitting from Azura's
Star?
I would take precaution were I the handler of this
device. I know of this soul, and of the soul it is linked to. A
sensual and alluring angel of mortal blood, but not to be taken
lightly. A Siren she can, and will be. Her song will bring this
gathering only more trouble, for her prison is the only barrier
between she and another Shadow is mischief and disaster. To welcome
her voice is to welcome the Love that she is forbidden to have.
Do what you will with the Star, but stay to your task and do
not stray. Straying will only draw the Shadow of Oblivion ever more
present.

I find it most

Ponderance
comes to mind as do riddles but concerns crosses my mind. I knew
naught of what to think of the latest events to come but alas I do
not believe that it is wise for us to summon the daedra, Azura.
The word of the Mannimarco must be heeded. This along with
the words of the Soundwalker has me concerned with his visions. I
fear that we will be driven to madness or rather led astray from our
path by the daedra prince, Azura. Thoug I do not believe it is wise
for us to summon such a creature as she is, I do not disagree with
the summoning. I would ask the Tribunal to consider the possibilites
of what can possibly happen. Her words might blind us to the point
where we are ultimately biased against Vehk.
I believe as
well that her summoning will bring unforseen consequences into the
hall. It would seem that the word of the God of Worms says that we
shall summon another being as well as that of Azura. Though the pact
at Artaeum has been null with the death of Seht, is it possible that
the summoning of Azura brings about the gate in which we shall be
torn asunder?
I ask that the council ponder the request of
having an armed guard for the halls in which the trial and summoning
is to reside. I feel this summoning may bring harm to many of the
others that wander these halls or may turn us against one another.
The ire of such consequences must be considered.

The words of
Soundwalker are vague and certainly not sufficient to distract us
from our purpose.
Mannimarco crokes like a doom-ridden raven
and we would be foolish indeed to look for consolation in the words
of the Slavemaster Of The Dead.
Yet his warning is foremost
not to be enticed to deviate from the invocation of Azura by
whatever would attempt to sway us. This is helpful advice and I
accept its merits.
As for Azura and the wisdom in invoking
her, it is a necessary risk. I say if we must invoke a Daedra, let
it be Azura.
On the matter of armed guards, you could speak
with the Bailiff of the Court. I would expect Tegger to take any
precautions she sees fit to ensure our physical safety.

Ah the Black
Wind shows its fangs, and posses a valid point. I too feel the dark
omens around this place getting stronger as the summoning date
approaches, but something tells me that we should push on
regardless.
After thinking about it some more I would like to
reconsider my previous statement, I do have a question for the
mighty Azura. Do you love the Dunmer? And if yes why
exactly.
I think this question would go a long way towards
showing whether or not it was a crime for the Tribunal to "replace"
the anticipations.

I'm pretty sure everybody

against. Besides, we need to hear from both sides of the argument,
otherwise we (well, the Tribunal, actually) cannot make an informed

P.S. I'm sure Ainoryl is fine, the priest has

Let me remind
everyone that the Tribunal's objective is to condemn Vivec. He is
presumed guilty and must prove himself innocent against the
Tribunal's best efforts to condemn him. We are not intended to be
impartial. The High Council, on the other hand, may try to influence
the decision of the Tribunal in any way they like.

To the
Tribunal of Point-the-finger,
Word has reached my tower of
accusations against V. Word has also reached my ear of the
confession of V to the murder of H. What puzzles me most is the word
I have of his immenent trial! And to call Azura to it no
less!
I hear speak of devils and deeds done wrong. The only
devil I point my finger at is Dagoth Ur.
Who but DU is to
blame for your restlessness?
Your guilt is not well placed. I
normally do not concearn myself with the events of Vvardenfell, but
apparantly many have come out of their graves to see the
condemnation of the God-who-was. But you do not point your fingers
at the God-who-was do you? You point at your own
reflection.
If it were not for the God-who-was who would the
Nerevarine be? Nothing more than another pedestal with which to gain
blessing.
If it were not for the God-who-was what devilry
would befall Vvardenfell and the rest of Tamriel? In place of the
mortal before you wounded you would have a Bone of
Blight.
You wish to martyr V twice? Crucify him upon his own
spear? Why?
Is not his return to mortality enough punishment
for the God-who-was and now is never again?

Alastor, you
accuse us falsely. We, the Tribunal, were given our charge by Vehk
himself. Some have speculated that he wishes to find absolution in
punishment; I have my own thoughts.
Dagoth Ur did not murder
Nerevar; nor did he break his oath not to use the tools. And, if
Vivec fought to contain the Blight, he also perpetuated it, by
refusing to destroy the heart, since it would end his own
immortality.
Vivec's words:
Quote:
As the darkness grew, we fought it, and crafted walls to
confine it, but we never could destroy it, for the source of the
darkness was the same source as the source of our own divine
inspiration.
It becomes very clear why the
Tribunal concealed the true story of the origin of their power; had
it been obvious to their followers that the source of the Blight was
also the source of their power, Dagoth Ur's existence might have
been ended sooner.

To the
Esteemed Council, Tribunal, Accused, and all others gathered in this
Hall:
I stand before you to read a missive just arrived in
my office (I have the author's permission to do so). I did not want
to answer it without first asking for insight and opinions from any
and all who wish to offer them.
*clearing throat to begin
reading*
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To the esteemed bailiff,
Though you do not heed my
concerns and my request for additional armed presence within the
court, I must ask do you really believe that no mischief is to come
out of this? We have assumed that the priest Ainoryl has protected
us at considerable lengths but suspicious am I about this priest and
the summoning of a daedra.
Tell me Tegger, is it all that
neccessary for the High Priest Ainorylto require such a quantity of
relics when all that is needed to summon Azura is her star? Why must
we present gifts to Azura if she truly loves us? If she is truly one
of our patron, why must we give her gifts when our need for her
should just be enough in the judgement of her foe? The antlers of
the Daedra Lord Hircine has me pondering for what connection does
this antler have to do with appeasing Azura?
If I am wrong,
it still cannot do harm to this court by having an extra armed
presence. I do not believe the words of Mannimarco to be hearsay.
His words are disrespectful and morbid at times but he does not lie.
There is more than meets the eye. First the dreams of blasted
betmeri, Soundwalker whose dreams may be vague but a dream that we
should consider as a prelude of what may happen. Madness. Delusion.
I do not wish for the sacrifice of Stri'ker to be in vain. Of
course, we must go on with the summoning but I do believe it is in
the best interest of the court that we shall have an extra presence
whether to help us defend ourselves or to restain us from turning
against one another.
Nazz has already voiced his concern
about the summoning as you have already known. Perhaps I am
paranoid. Traveling from the southern most point of the land of
Resadyn...Tear has left me drained. If I have sounded incoherent and
mad it is due to my lack of focus because of this divine infliction
cast upon me by the Daedra Molag Bal.
My main concern is not
with the summoning itself but what happens after the summoning. What
would happen if Azura manages to gain a foothold onto mundus and
freely walk about? Who is to stop her? With the passing of Seht,
there is no one to ensure the pact is continued. Do you think that
her brethren would not notice her missing presence after her
summoning? Though I do worship the Daedra, I do not see it as a gift
or a blessing to have them walking amongst us, free to do their very
whim.
I once again apologize for sounding incoherent and
unfocused but alas it is hard to think when there is an insatiable
thirst about.

I was just
stepping out when I heard this. I am no worshipper of daedra, but
I'm puzzled by Corsai Akilae Mun'kiel's seemingly naive question
about Azura.

In answer, I quote from
"Invocation of Azura":
Quote:
Every Hogithum, which we celebrate on the 21st of First Seed,
we summon her for guidance, as well as to offer things or worth
and beauty to Her Majesty.
The more we want of Azura, the
more we should be prepared to give, it seems to me.
Now, I
must briefly say goodbye while I speak to my master Celarus.

Greetings
again.
Firstly, thank you Gosleigh, for so politely pointing
out the passage from the text "Invocation of Azura."
I would
request that, in the future, should anyone take issue with my doings
to bring the matter to me personally.
Now, why I have come.
I am fairly certain that I have identified the soul within Azura's
Star. I am absolutely certain that the soul is of what was once a
mortal female. The soul itself is not overly powerful, but there is
at least a latent connection established with something of
significance. For some reason, Arkay's Blessing did not apply. I do
not know how this happened. I must work at the gem a little more, I
appreciate all of your patience.
It is now my most humble
request, that I might have a word with Lord Fyr, and acquire his
oppinion on these matters. Perhaps you may shed some light on this
mystery.. will you speak with me?

An understandable request,
indeed. From my reading of the letter I received, I didn't interpret
it as necessarily questioning you or your actions, but rather an
overall concern for the safety of all assembled here. Perhaps my
interpretation was incorrect. Still, if you have the time, it might
be good to assure this company by acknowledging (if not explicitly
detailing) what means of protection you have provided--or will soon
provide. That way, perhaps the correspondent and any others who
might share similar concerns may rest a bit easier. If I may be of
any assistance, I stand ready to do so.
Also, thank you for
the news about the Star. I'm sure we're all eager to know more, but
I'm equally sure that we all understand the need for slow caution in
this matter.

not see much "Overall concern" in it, as much as I see an uninformed
accusation. But, as for overall concern? I do not understand what
assurance you are looking for. What exactly is there a danger of? I
assure you, I am capable of handling the artifact. The soul is not
going anywhere. If that changes, you all will be the first to know.
I already stated that your health is not in danger. I suppose, if it
may ease your minds, I will say that the star is far from this hall,
and very secure. As the presiding priest, I will of course provide
protection to the hall when needed.
And that time of need,
has not yet come. There is no extra force needed within these halls.
It has been some time since the passing of Seht and the daedra
princes do not walk among us. This summoning will be no different,
in that respect.
I do not act alone. I have the consent of
the Tribunal, and Vehks blessing. I work alongside all of them.
Contrary to what seems to be the popular belief, the
preparations for the invocation are going extremely well.

My dear
Ainoryl, I assure you that I personally have the utmost faith in
your abilities, so please don't think that I was speaking for
myself; my questions were for the sole benefit of the correspondent
(and perhaps any like-minded people who have not spoken).
I
realize that the first part of the letter had already been
addressed, and I have no questions or other comments about that. The
overall concern I spoke of referred to the part about safety during
and after the summoning of Azura. Forgive me for not making myself
more clear. In any case, you need not explain any further. Your
words of assurance should be satisfactory to everyone, as I believe
you to be honorable and capable. And again, should you need any
assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

To the esteemed bailiff,
Though you do not heed my
concerns and my request for additional armed presence within the
court, I must ask do you really believe that no mischief is to
come out of this? We have assumed that the priest Ainoryl has
protected us at considerable lengths but suspicious am I about
this priest and the summoning of a daedra.
Tell me Tegger,
is it all that neccessary for the High Priest Ainorylto require
such a quantity of relics when all that is needed to summon Azura
is her star? Why must we present gifts to Azura if she truly loves
us? If she is truly one of our patron, why must we give her gifts
when our need for her should just be enough in the judgement of
her foe? The antlers of the Daedra Lord Hircine has me pondering
for what connection does this antler have to do with appeasing
Azura?
If I am wrong, it still cannot do harm to this
court by having an extra armed presence. I do not believe the
words of Mannimarco to be hearsay. His words are disrespectful and
morbid at times but he does not lie. There is more than meets the
eye. First the dreams of blasted betmeri, Soundwalker whose dreams
may be vague but a dream that we should consider as a prelude of
what may happen. Madness. Delusion. I do not wish for the
sacrifice of Stri'ker to be in vain. Of course, we must go on with
the summoning but I do believe it is in the best interest of the
court that we shall have an extra presence whether to help us
defend ourselves or to restain us from turning against one
another.
Nazz has already voiced his concern about the
summoning as you have already known. Perhaps I am paranoid.
Traveling from the southern most point of the land of
Resadyn...Tear has left me drained. If I have sounded incoherent
and mad it is due to my lack of focus because of this divine
infliction cast upon me by the Daedra Molag Bal.
My main
concern is not with the summoning itself but what happens after
the summoning. What would happen if Azura manages to gain a
foothold onto mundus and freely walk about? Who is to stop her?
With the passing of Seht, there is no one to ensure the pact is
continued. Do you think that her brethren would not notice her
missing presence after her summoning? Though I do worship the
Daedra, I do not see it as a gift or a blessing to have them
walking amongst us, free to do their very whim.
I once
again apologize for sounding incoherent and unfocused but alas it
is hard to think when there is an insatiable thirst about.

To the Esteemed Council,
Tribunal, Accused, and all others gathered in this Hall:
I
thank those who offered information and insight, and based on that
and my own time spent in thoughtful consideration, I have formed my
reply. I have decided that my answer to this correspondence shall be
a Public Notice rather than confined within the closet of a personal
letter to one individual (this Notice should also answer other
correspondence I have received of late). After its reading, I will
post this Notice for public display adjacent to the main doors into
the Hall.

From the Office of the Bailiff
Let it be Declared and
Known that:
1. This Office is not in a position to make
judgements as to the correctness, feasibility, effectiveness, or
consequences of any part of these proceedings. This Office also will
not offer any judgements on the guilt or innocence of the Accused
(that is solely for the Tribunal to decide after all evidence, both
for and against the Accused, has been weighed).
2. The
extent of this Office's responsibility is for the Safety and Conduct
of those assembled here, to maintain Order in the Court, and when
acting as Heralds, to confirm the identities of certain persons.
This Office may also occasionally act as a messenger between certain
parties at its sole discretion.
3. This Hall is hereby
officially deemed to be Physically Safe for all Persons, to the
extent of all reasonable assumptions as to what the future may hold
in store, and provided that each individual takes a reasonable
measure of responsibility for their own welfare.
4. While we
cannot accurately predict the future, this Office places its Trust
and Confidence in our Priest and his designated Assistants to
provide Protections of Magickal and Mysterious origin during and
after the upcoming Summoning.
5. Knowing that Physical Arms
might be of little help in the case of an unforeseen disaster
resulting from consorting with Daedra Princes or other Spirits,
extra armed guards shall nonetheless be put into place. These may
not help us against the Might of Gods if such an event should arise,
but they may be needed to protect us against ourselves in the event
of a Panic among those here assembled.
6. Any volunteers for
the Special Reserve of guards shall contact Tegger of the Office of
the Bailiff privately, and in a timely fashion, to be added to the
list. Do not volunteer in the Hall itself, as your enlistment might
be all too easily overlooked.
So says the Office of the
Bailiff. So be it.
Peace be unto All here assembled.

My, my,
my...things seem to be getting interesting once again. I guess
there’s never a dull moment.
I certainly don’t blame people
for being a little uncomfortable with this process--I know I am at
times--but I guess we should all trust those people who have been
put in place. I know very little about the priest Ainoryl, but I’m
sure he will ask for assistance when, and if, it is needed.
I do not mean for these next words to be harsh or biting,
but those of you who feel unsafe should perhaps seek shelter
elsewhere. No, I am not telling you that you are unwelcome here. I
am merely saying that if you need to leave, we will understand. No
one will fault you for wanting to be “safe.”
Ainoryl, I have
not spoken to Master Fyr in some time, but I, too, will try and
contact him through my channels. Hopefully, one of us will be able
to get him to respond to your request for help. I do think he would
be of great value on your research into the Star and the soul it
contains.
Tegger, I thank you for clarifying your role in
these matters. I have taken notice of your public words and will try
to abide by them.

My good
Ainoryl, it is good to speak with you once again. I must admit, I
wish the circumstances were different, but nevertheless, it is
just.
If you wish to gain consultation with me regarding this
shroud upon Azura's Star, I would have you know that I know very
little. The Star has never been in my possession to study. Only text
and rumor relay it's origins and meanings to me. Now that I am near
however, I do sense a malicious trickery entombed. Mannimarco
appears to lay on a thick warning concerning the contents. Is it
that even He fears what is slumbering within? It is true that the
esteemed God of Worms has no love for Love, and I sense a great
emmination of Love trapped within. Or is it Lust? To be sure, I urge
you to stay steadfast on your task to use the Star for the summoning
ONLY. Do not stray or you may reveal what this hidden mystery is,
and if Mannimarco lays forth a warning, I do hope myself, that we do
not disturb this Niche of Unknown.

As always,
Lord Fyr, your insight and oppinion is most appreciated. I am also
happy to speak with you again, and look forward to a time when we
might talk more at ease.
Your warning, and Mannimarco's, is
indeed, most dire. I must take consideration on this matter, for it
is a complicated decision. It is my unfortunate task to uncover what
slumbers within the star, for if this soul is unpleasing in
presentation to Azura, the summoning may have been in vain. However,
I do not wish to unleash something malicious and powerfull, and so I
assure you and all gathered here that the utmost care will be taken
in my research. Thank you again Lord Fyr, for your input.

Ah, Master
Fyr, how wonderful to see you again! I know that you are extremely
busy, so any chance we get to hear from you is a welcome one.
I must confess. I would have been interested in seeing you
and Loremaster Celarus in the same place at once, but that is
neither here nor there.
Back to the matter at hand. From
your limited research, is there any way you know of that we can
"see" what is contained within the Star without having to open it? I
am certainly open to any suggestions, as I’m sure Ainoryl is, too.
If you can offer us any additional advice, I would greatly
appreciate it. If not, I thank you for the help that you have
already given.
Take care of yourself, and I hope to visit
with you soon.

Is there a
way? Why yes, of course, but even a glimpse into the Star can be
dangerous. The very person that peers beyond the Here to There could
be at risk of being drawn in themselves, IF this Other entity were
to commit. A sort of, trading places mind you. It is quite simple to
gaze into this item, but not knowing the power on the Other side is
the real pickle. Even though I sense Sadness and Love from within,
those are not emotions to be taken lightly. Do not let your pity get
the best of your senses. I also sense Mischief and Trickery. I urge
you, there is no need to bother this soul. Commit to your summoning
with the item and no harm shall be done. Tamper deeper into it more
than you must, and there is no telling what forgotten soul you may
awaken.
I can tell you this....
There is One here who
knows of the soul within. I believe the reason He is not coming
forth with the information is for your protection. To know what is
inside, is to lust for more. Tamper not and question not! Remember
your task and remain to it, and no harm will come!

The only way
to divine the nature of this soul is to bind it into atronach form.
In a small body, and with enough magic guarding it, it will be
unable to attack. I strongly advise against this though, as whatever
we devide cannot be perfect, and if the soul is strong enough we
will be unable to bind it.

Thank you,
Divayth Fyr.
First, we receive a warning from the God of
Worms and now, one from Master Fyr. Normally, two warnings against
something would be enough to entice me into doing it, but I'm not so
sure about this one, though.
Speaking of difficult choices,
has anyone made a decision about Nael and removing the distraction
from the Mad One?
Gosleigh, have you had any luck contacting
Loremaster Celarus?

I've just
received some rather unsettling news. It seems that our friend
Gosleigh has disappeared. Details are currently sketchy, but
witnesses said that "after communicating with Celarus, he took off
with an expression of horror on his face." Hopefully this bodes no
ill for these proceedings, but we will continue to investigate this
matter. If anyone has heard any other reports, please contact my

Ah, Master
Divayth, always ever the watchdog. Do not speak of that which you do
not have knowlege of. I lay down a thick warning? Oh no, by all
means, I urge this Tribunal to put their curiosity to rest and
release the soul within the Star. For it is not I who has to tend to
whatever is awakened. Ever curious mortals have a weakness for
tampering with the unknown. I say, let the pieces fall where they
may.
If you are referring to me when you speak of One who
knows what is entombed, I will admit that I do. Nor do I care. It
was not I who created this prison for that mortal wench. Nor is it I
who cares who she is or whether she deserved such a "hospitable"
tomb. Sad? Indeed she is. For, you too would be sad knowing your
soul is bound to such an instrument. Love? That is another story all
in itself. Her Love is her business, and is not created for our
amusement. She is of no concern to this Tribunal, or any other
outside of this assembly. If need be, as your weakness of
"curiosity" dictates, ask the One, Azura, to deliver you an answer
to this soul within the Star. She too, I am sure, will find it
utterly unecessary to answer such petty inquiries.
I urge the
Court to address this issue as a deterant from the case at hand.

going soft on us by giving us a helpful warning to stay away from
the Star and its contents.
As much as I love a good

I afraid? No. Am I arrogant enough to consider it? Yes. Am I stupid

The Hall has
been quiet these past days, from the look of it. Vehk and most of
the Councillors are no doubt preparing for the Hogithum summoning in
private, as I have been.
I came only to tell those assembled
that the Trial Record will be updated on the morrow - until
that time I will return to my quarters and meditate on all that we
have learned in these tumultuous weeks, and the sacrifices that have
been and shall be made in the name of Truth.
Good fortune to

*Attrebus
enters the Hall* Good evening everyone. I have conducted a small
investigation of the Gosleigh incident and have both interesting and
terrifying news. I asked a few people if they had seen Gosleigh and
a few people recall him saying something to himself along the lines
of:
"Can't you do anything to stop it?"
"I can't! I
can't! I'm not powerful enough! Don't ask me to --"
"Why
can't you come back?!"
"No, I'm sorry, Master, I can't ...
Please, don't make me ..."
"No, if you care so much, you
find a way to do something. It's out of my hands."
Almost
all of them started paying attention at this point because of the
sudden paleness of his face from obvious fear. With that, Gosleigh
fled, heading out of town. From the speed he was running, one
witness said, he might be out of Vvardenfell by now.
Not
content with only that information, I questioned a few more people,
trying to discover what 'it' was. An old Charm seller remembered
seeing him leave the Hall and start talking to himself about the
situation in the Hall, and Azura's Star, and the distraction of
Sheogorath. Midway through he stopped as if interrupted - as though
the voice in his head had interrupted - almost like it either knew
what he was going to say, or had something more important to tell
him.
At this point, after discovering that both the Emperor
and Celarus were on their way back to the Imperial City, I asked if
someone knew of anyone who could contact Celarus in the same manner
as Gosleigh. No-one knew of such a person, however, someone did
remember reading something similar in the book Chance's Folly. This
mentions Ulstyr Moresby hearing 'voices' in his head - probably that
of Sheogorath.
I believe that this is more than just a
co-incidence, so I must steel my mind and consult with Sheogorath,
and hopefully get to the bottom of this mystery. However, you should
not worry - I will make sure he is still distracted after I have
finished my questions. Wish me luck.

This is,
indeed, disturbing news. Be careful, Attrebus, no matter what
happens. We've already lost Stri'ker, and I certainly don't want to
lose you, too.
In my opinion, Gosleigh and Loremaster
Celarus were able to communicate through an ability termed "the
Calling." Very little can be shared about this power so I cannot
back up my statement with any proof.
Now, if you will excuse
me, I'm going to try and contact Gosleigh and Loremaster Celarus.
Then I must go and meditate in the corner to my replenish my
strength and harden my will. I'm going to need all the energy I can
get for the journey ahead.

Greetings to
you all. I am just a humble warrior, and my skill lies in my blade,
not my mind, but nevertheless, this trial has held my interest. I am
only sorry I arrived so late, but I began my jounrey from Skyrim as
soon as I heard of it, and was able to find a replacement to defend
my village from its attacks.
I wish to offer some advice on
the contents of Azura's Star, and although I fear this question will
prove my ignorance, I also fear if I do not, and another person
loses their life during this process, I will not be able to live
with myself:
There is one person who will certainly know the
identity of the resident of the star, and will be able to defeat
them if the soul is released. The Nerevarine captured this soul, and
therefore must have defeated its owner, and it is unlikely that they
did this in their sleep, or while their mind was elsewhere, so it is
highly likely that they do know the identity of this soul, and can
defeat it again.
I thank you all for listening to me, and
would also like to say that although my mind is untrained, and of
little use (I believe) to these proceedings, my body is not. And if
anyone here requires my blade to assist in the trial, I would be
honoured to help.

Hey folks.
This slowdown is starting to worry me. Some old ladies have already
pre-paid for some places at the front to see Vheks hanging, and i
have to refund them if things take too long. I will pass some of the
complaims from those old adorable grandmothers, have
pity:
"We want to see that #%%%%%##"# Vhek hanging on a

"When is this thing going to start, my arthritis is
getting at me already"
Folks have some pity for old ladies

A mere three nights remain until the invocation of the
Daedra Prince Azura.
I feel that it is
now time for us to decide finally upon the questions we intend to
put to the Queen of the Night Sky.
I would be grateful if an
officer of the Court or a member of the Council would bring before
us a list of all the questions that have been suggested to date.
We should then consider which of them is truly pertinent to
the guilt or otherwise of Vehk, whether any may be superfluous or
whether any may have been omitted, and settle upon an appropriate
order and respectful wording.
Also, if any member of the
High Council has any further opinions concerning these questions, I
invite you to put your case before this Court now.

I have some
dreadful news to share with everyone. I tried to reach Gosleigh, but
all I received was a horrible vision. When I touched his mind, it
was filled with irrational thoughts. All I saw was red, as if
everything was drenched in blood. The smell of Death permeated the
air. And then, everything went black. I fear something awful has
happened.
In addition, I have some more sad news. It appears
Loremaster Celarus isn't answering my attempts at contact. It seems
we will have to continue without him, too.

To those
assembled:
Please forgive my absence. With the imminent
summoning, and the nature of the judgment no doubt rendered shortly
thereafter, I’ve had to settle some affairs. Some of these were
centuries old, or supraterrestrial, or both. To those clamoring for
my punishment, know that these errands were the first: how odd it is

I'm back from
my 'meeting' with Sheogorath. I was taken to the edge of my sanity,
however, I managed to keep my mind intact and free from his grasp. I
tried various ways to discover what he knew about the Gosleigh
incident, and he said the following:
Quote:
I feed on fear? This is new to me. I'm intrigued, what
recipe book have you been reading? Would I prefer a light
appetizer, just toasted on top with rich cold terror beneath, or a
full stomach-gorging, eight-course meal of horror after horror,
steamed in its own juices, dripping with gravies and sauces?
(the hairs on the back of your neck start to rise, the
shadows around the square deepening and lengthening)
When
Molag Bal cooked Mournhold, he made a stew of fear, but was that
the main course? When Hermaus Mora shows a scholar truths she
shouldn't know, terror burbles up in a hot froth, but is that not
an after effect? When I touch your mind and squeeze and squeeze
and squeeze, yes, there is fear, but there is much more.
(in the square, an old man in rags, his mind gone, sitting
quietly, muttering to himself, looks at you with knowing eyes. he
smiles, and your blood chills)
Fear is a dark land that
touches on my domain, but it is not mine, not mine alone. I am not
a guard at its gates, checking papers, inspecting trunks, asking,
"Why have you come?"
Terror is not madness. Sometimes, the
maddest thing is not to be afraid.
(a scream wells up in
your chest, your throat, your mouth filling with bitterness)
And what makes you think you can command me to answer your
questions as if I were an enthralled scamp?
And you are
you to distract and undistract me? Am I a puppy with a ball?
I tried a different tact, then
he replied:
Quote:
Misunderstanding, confusion, yes, these are lands in my
realm. These are the foods I sup on. You shall all come to visit
them soon, if you have not been already. But you won't find your
man Gosleigh there.
Madness through fear is alas
temporarily. Madness through ambition, there is my hand. There is
my window in Hogithum Hall.
Followed by:
Quote:
Everything they do is because of me Those Psijics,
Celarus and Gosleigh, But madness and passion, Are not
Psijjical fashion Pluck out your eyes and you’ll see.
and finally:
Quote:
More than fear, more than ambition, most go mad from
impatience.
Then Sheogorath said nothing.
I don't fully understand exactly what I saw, or what
Sheogorath was implying. I dare not study his words and actions much
longer for I fear for my sanity if I do. It does appear as though he
wasn't responsible for Gosleigh's fate. I give you the above incase
you find something I missed.
Please be comforted that I am
safe, and that Sheogorath's distraction is once again in
place.

Quote:
A mere three nights remain until the
invocation of the Daedra Prince Azura.
I
feel that it is now time for us to decide finally upon the
questions we intend to put to the Queen of the Night Sky.
I
would be grateful if an officer of the Court or a member of the
Council would bring before us a list of all the questions that
have been suggested to date.
We should then consider which
of them is truly pertinent to the guilt or otherwise of Vehk,
whether any may be superfluous or whether any may have been
omitted, and settle upon an appropriate order and respectful
wording.
Also, if any member of the High Council has any
further opinions concerning these questions, I invite you to put
your case before this Court now.
To the best of my knowledge,
the questions currently stand as follows (taken from Master D'onus'
most recent record and updated by myself as best I was able in his
absence):
Was Nerevar indeed slain by the
Tribunal, and if so, how was Vehk involved? (Proposed by TSBasilisk)
Is the Vehk we see before us - stripped of his stolen
Godhood - the same being that existed before he used the Heart?
(Proposed by Stri’ker, now fallen) [Follow-up proposed by
Aquiantus]: Did they have the same motivations?"
What
happened to the Dwemer? (Proposed by the fallen Stri'Ker, though
near facetiously) [Stri'Ker's student, Attrebus, has confirmed
that this question was offered in jest, thus may be safely
discarded]
In your esteem, have the Tribunal paid for
their crimes or the crimes of their mortal forebears? If not, with
the Chimer of Resdayn transformed into the Dunmer of Morrowind,
Sotha Sil slain at the hands of Almalexia, and Almalexia slain at
the hands of the now-missing Nerevarine, what manner of penance
could remain for Vehk with his divinity now shorn? (Proposed by
Louis D’Onus)
Why have you taken such offence to Vehk's
actions if he as a god has done so much to benefit the people you
love? (proposed by Girai_Harkaanius) [Rewording proposed by
same]: According to Vehk, he brought about a new age of wisdom
for the Dunmer. Is this so, and if it is why have you sought to
punish him for helping your people to a better existence?
The
Tribunal 'stole' godhood to help the Chimer people. Here you plot to
steal worship from the Tribunal, to steal the Dunmer's hearts as you
and Boethia did before, so many thousands of years ago. How are you
any different than Vehk, if not more deceitful and selfish?
(Proposed by Helton)
In becoming gods of the Chimer, did
Vivec and the other Tribunes take upon themselves the spiritual
welfare of the Chimer, thereby removing the Chimer from the divine
stewardship of Mephala, Azura and Boethiah? (Proposed by Nigedo)
(intended for Sheogorath, held for Azura)
If Vehk should be
found guilty of past transgressions in a world that no longer lives,
how might he find absolution? (proposed by Vehk himself)
Did
the three Daedra Princes known as the Anticipations, Azura,
Boethiah, and Mephala, in fact bless the ascension of the Tribunal
to godhood? Are the words of the Tribunal Temple regarding the
Anticipations blasphemy, or worship? (Proposed by Allerleirauh)
Vivec has admitted that he broke his oath to Nerevar not to
use the Tools of Kagrenac, an oath sworn on the name of Azura. What
is the penalty for such a broken oath? (Proposed by Allerleirauh)
[Follow-up proposed by Aquiantus]: "Has Azura already given
out that penalty unto Vehk for such a broken oath?"
Why was
the sin of ALMSIVI apparently visited upon the children of
Morrowind, in their transformation into Dunmer? (Proposed by
Nigedo)
What do the other Daedra Princes of the Anticipations
feel about the Tribunal's assumption of godhood? (Proposed by Louis
D'Onus)
Quote:
Was the natural order of the universe
violated by the Tribunal's Apotheosis or ultimately served? If the
former, what level of responsibility does the Vehk before us hold
for that? Did Veloth truly foretell the supplanting of worship
from the Ancestor Daedra of the Anticipations by the Tribunal, or
is it an aberrant act, made from a hunger for power?
Was
the destiny of an entire race thereby subverted, merely altered,
or ultimately served? Did murder and the use of the Heart of
Lorkhan profane the face of an entire people? And if so, what
accountability does the Vehk before us hold for that?
And,
perhaps most of all - Did the assumption of godhood put the fate
of our world in peril? Have these repeated Breaks in the fabric of
Time placed the integrity of what we know as reality at stake?
Should Vehk be accountable, if so? (Proposed by Louis D'onus)
If
I have overlooked any contribution, I apologize. Record-keeping is
not, unfortunately, my forte.

I, too, am
glad to see that you have returned safely, Attrebus. Even though you
were unable to get a definitive answer, your efforts are
commendable. Unfortunately, it seems that we are no closer to
determining the cause of Gosleigh's current state. At times, Fear
and Panic can be irrational states of mind. I believe Gosleigh's
mind is swimming in Fear and drowning in Panic.
The Time of
Summoning is nearly upon us. I hope everything is in place—or, at
the very least, close to being ready. The questions have been
brought forth to be discussed. I will take some time to look over
them and let you know if I have any comments.

Nothing is wrong with your
idea, per se. You are correct. IF the Nerevarine was the one
who imprisoned the person, AND we could find the Incarnate,
we could ask for the information we need.
With that being
said, I do not think we have enough time.

Master
Penguin: Finding the Nerevarine would certainly be ideal, but it
is also extremely infeasible - and likely impossible given our time
and resources.
Countless have made elaborate attempts in the
months since Almalexia's death and the subsequent happenings of the
Bloodmoon Prophecies to locate and question the Incarnate - all have
come up empty-handed; and those few luminaries in a position to know
something of the Incarnate's true whereabouts are notoriously coy on
the subject. (The Skaal are purportedly still fond of sending
foreigners on wild-goose-chases into Reikling territory after
make-believe Nerevarines.)
It was some time after Almalexia's
death before most were even aware that she and Sotha Sil had been
slain - the Nerevarine disappeared then as well, only to re-surface
again on the Isle of Solstheim months later. So it is not beyond the
realm of possibility that the Incarnate will return; but it is, I
fear, completely beyond our influence - or anyone else's.

To the
Court:
I have prepared the Trial Record to bring it up to
date with everything we have learned in this Trial thus far, but
something is preventing me from psychically accessing the
pocket of Ideaspace here in the Hall so that it can be accessed by
the Court. I shall continue my efforts.
Once the information
has been properly constructed discussion can begin again in earnest
in preparation for Hogithum.

To perhaps set
some minds at rest on this matter, it matters not who is entombed in
the Star. It is a soul of no importance to this Tribunal. It has no
meaning to inquisition. It is best left to be.
Your
"Nerevarine", had no play in this soul being imprisoned in the Star.
The Star was already quite aged even at the time of the "murdered"
Hortator. The enchantment was inset long before.
As I said
previously, this soul has no meaning to the situation at hand. I am
sure, that if Azura cares enough to offer any insight to this soul,
she will see to it. I would not put much effort into such a petty
inquiry however.
I now have some personal affairs to attend
to, so I must take leave. I do hope to return for the final
judgement.

Ah!
After no small finagling, the Trial Record has again been updated. Apologies
for the delay.
Within, I have listed Two New Charges,
detailed Six New Arguments, summarized the Latest
Happenings within the Courtroom, added Six New Questions for
Azura/Nerevar, and numbered the questions as a whole for ease of
reference.
For the sake of brevity I will not repeat them
here, but I urge all present to examine the most recent entries and to suggest any
changes that they see as appropriate - as always, the most recent
entries glow the brightest
As for the re-commencement of
discussion, as many have pointed out, the proposed questions to
Azura should be detailed, compressed, and honed to a sharp edge. So
as not to seem idle, I will make my thoughts on the matter known
after some meditation.
Three Questions I have for the Court
at large, two of them are here repeated from previous:
1) What is the essence of what we require from
Azura? Communion with Nerevar, certainly. A god's-eye view of
events during and after the events at Red Mountain? I doubt it is
divine decree of guilt or innocence we are seeking, and
interrogation for the satisfaction of simple scholarly curiousity on
subjects like the disappearance of the Dwemer are more likely to
invoke her wrath than gain us any insight. So what, ultimately, are
we seeking from Azura? We must know before Hogithum.
2)
What is the essence of what we require from the spirit of
Nerevar? Whether he, as the recipient (I hesitate to say victim)
of murder at mortal Vehk's hands, believes we can hold the god Vivec
accountable for the mortal's crimes? His wisdom regarding the
treatment of the Dunmer peoples since his death? Like Azura, we must
know precisely what we seek of Nerevar's spirit before Hogithum.
3) Will we speak to the Sharmat, Dagoth Ur? Are we
meant to know beforehand, Lord Vehk?
Furthermore, if it is prudent, I believe
it wouldbe in our interest to elaborate and enumerate the vague
charges against the Accused regarding the following:
1) The breaking of promises to the Velothi peoples
2) The marginalization of the Ashlander peoples 3) The harsh
persecution by the Tribunal Temple and its Ordinator squads of
dissident factions among the people of Morrowind.
Much has been sacrificed on the road to Hogithum in this
strange new year, and wuestions thousands of years in the asking are
mere days from answers. As a Court and Council, let us ensure that
we are worthy of them.
Edit: Corrected the number of new
questions, from 8 to 6 (see below).

Louis, Tegger,
thank you very much for your hard work.
My first
recommendation would be that we strike or reword any question which
could be construed as an attack on Azura. While I would also like
answers to some of these questions, Azura is not on trial here (in
fact, the Emperor has instructed us not to place gods on trial), I
think we are unlikely to receive useful answers, and we may offend
her.
Thus, I suggest we strike questions 6 and 13 entirely,
and be careful of the wording of 5 and 15.

Note - Two of
the 'new' questions (14 and 15) were in fact duplicates of previous
questions (10 and 11), and have been removed - as such the numbering
has been altered. This will be the last time the greater numbering
is changed for the questions, in order to preserve their references
in discussion.
Question 13 has merit in it in the larger
scheme of life here on Morrowind; but I agree that it smacks of
putting Azura on trial - a thing we would do best to avoid the
appearance of. I think, perhaps, it still might be better served as
Question 5: Why have you taken such offence to Vehk's actions if
he as a god has done so much to benefit the people you love?
Questions 3, 6, and 13 have been stricken from the line
of questioning thus far. Fourteen questions remain.

I will quote
from Ideaspace, in the assumption that D'Ones has in no way altered
this conversation, and would like to put forward an entirely new
idea myself...
Quote:
Nigedo: (Point 1) The Chimer people were transformed into the
Dunmer as a result of the actions of you and your confederates as
mortals.
Vehk: I will assume you mean their physical
change here, not the stronger but more subtle fundamental change.
The second I will gladly—no, delightfully—take credit for. For the
former, no, I cannot say they were transformed as a result of the
actions ALMSIVI took while mortal. (Note: Is the implication
that they were changed as a result of something else?)
Nigedo: (Point 2 ) The Chimer themselves became a people
tainted by the very crime that sundered the Time of their own
fore-images and re-forged them as the unwitting inheritors of the
Dunmeri curse.
Vehk: For one, I must again ask this court
not to apply more conventional opinions to these matters, to whit:
The first Chimer to admit he was innocent from the start never
made the journey to Veloth at all. For seconds, what is this
predilection for making this alleged ‘curse’ synonymous with our
physical change? How are we worse from before? In fact, I like the
particular look so much I wear it myself half the time. …The needs
that necessitated the change from Chimer to Dunmer were new
measures of defense against the infidel, cultural reforms in
house, vault, and social services, and the spiritual advancement
of the people and their priests. …I only point to four thousand
years of peace and glory and holiness to speak on its own behalf.
Nigedo: (Point 3) Had you not tampered with the Heart of
Lorkhan, do you suppose that the Chimer would have transformed
themselves?
Vehk: I answer this in this way: Without
the Heart, the glory of the Dunmer would have never grown as
radiant.
Vivec implies, twice, that his
actions were not the result of the changing of the Chimer people,
so, assuming he was not lying, what was? I would like to put forward
a suggestion that I do not believe has been considered before: What
if no single event was the cause of the change? We know that races
can adapt to their climates, my own race, the Nords, are proof of
this. Because of the many years we have spent living in Skyrim, our
skins have toughened and our blood has warmed so that the cold of
Skyrim (and incidentaly, frost magiks) do us no harm.
It is
well known that all humans (Nords, Imperials and Bretons) originally
came from the people of Atmora to the North. Therefore it is obvious
that these races have adapted, to suit the place in which they live.
So why could this not have happened to the Chimer? They say that the
Chimer had golden skin originally, like the Altmer, but centuries
spent living in the ashen wasteland that is Morrowind, can not have
done wonders for their skin, and so this would be the reason for
their colour change? Vivec also says "Without the Heart, the glory
of the Dunmer would have never grown as radiant" implying that the
existance of the Dunmer was inevitable, and that his use of the
Heart simply helped them thrive (although that second point is
debatable)

Ainoryl, please forgive what might be a question with an obvious
answer, but having never summoned a Daedra Lord (or a lesser Daedra,
for that matter), when does the summoning take place? The night of
Hogithum, or the night shortly before Hogithum? In other words, in
several hours, or tomorrow night? And would it be unwise to present
the Lady Azura with gifts other than those required by the
ritual?
I must admit to being extremely nervous about this,
but not for reasons of distrust. Just because of what has happened
before, I suppose.

already finished? Good job. But I've got the same question as
Vireyar. Probably more for Ainoryl or, gods forbid he show up to his
own trial once in a while (yes I know he is preparing),
Vehk.
Quote:
Master Ainoryl, please forgive what might be a question with
an obvious answer, but having never summoned a Daedra Lord (or a
lesser Daedra, for that matter), when does the summoning take
place?
And adding to that, for how
long will She be summoned? I'd imagine no longer than She wants to
but, provided we are courteous (probably also complimenting and very
humble) to her, can she stay in Mundus for a full 24 hours?

We must await
Ainoryl's preparations. I do know that we will have Azura's
attention for a short time only.

*Allerleirauh
arrives, wearing a white gown, very simple in design, and formal, to
honor Azura.
Before we begin, I would like to address
all present regarding the safety of the Hall, and its inhabitants,
during the summoning.
I believe that the Hall is as safe as
it can reasonably be made. However, it is foolish to pretend that
the summoning of Azura, and the visitations of other great powers,
are predictable and controllable situations. I notice that tegger
has accepted the help of additional warriors for the defense of the
Hall, but I must urge everyone, if anything should go
catastrophically wrong, to flee the Hall as quickly as possible.

Mercy, you are
slick with discomfort. I smell it. Is it the sight of me, like this,
that brings dew to the lily? Or some deeper reaction, made by this
sudden house, the rut-need before fear? To this, I say two things: I
cannot oblige you, white gown notwithstanding, and: there is no
place for worry. Only Dunmer die today.

*Ainoryl
returns, robed as a priest of the Tribunal Temple.
Greetings
to the appointed Tribunal, and to the High Council. Vivec, glorious
Warrior-Poet of Vvardenfell, Tribune and Lord of of Veloth,
greetings.
*Ainoryl bows to the five quarters.
The
summoning will take time. The proper sigils must be set in place,
the oils prepared, the incense lit.
*Ainoryl begins his
preparations. Suddenly, he winces and rubs his chest again through
his robes. He coughs, and a light appears from his mouth, as if he
were lit from within. He manages to stifle both this and the cough
with a hand before someone sees. He hopes.

I apologize for
my silence but I have been trying to remember how to speak. I do not
know how and I cannot explain it, but my curse seems to have been
lifted. But I fear it has been at the expense of another for I still
feel the taint of my former mind stalking me from behind, amused
with someone else's soul. I can only be thankful however since I do
believe Azura would have been quite offended by my manner.
Nevertheless... I do have something to add. Remember, I was
given the Oghma Infinium in exchange for my curse. I still bear this
tome and have not ever read it to aid myself so I may offer it to
the Good Priest if it is not too late. If not, perhaps it might be
used at a later time for purposes yet unknown. It appears I am I

My good B, please be so kind as to

I want to reiterate what Lady Allerleirauh said. The Hall is

exit the Hall immediately.
Also, as excited as our feelings

maintain a quiet reserve and an attitude of respect at all times. We
do not want to offend the powers soon to visit us.

My fellow
Bailiff Archeopterix is correct, dear Pengern. All guards and other
participants should stow their weapons while still remaining at the

In the meantime, everyone will please remain silent

**As Ainoryl begins the incantation, Councillors
continue to shuffle into the Hall in a hush. Among them is what
appears to be a crippled Dunmer, very pale for his kind - his eyes
hidden beneath the cowl of his crimson robes, beads of sweat
ensorcelling his face. He appears unable to walk without the aide of
his three retainers - pale-skinned Nordic sisters, a mage, a rogue,
and a warrior. **
**The largest of the three, a glorious
woman easily seven feet tall & graced in golden templar armor,
holds him gently by the hand and waist. The middle sister, bedecked
in fine netch leathers holds his hand and steadies his back. The
other, merely in robes, straggles and observes, her eyes a cold
steely blue.**
**It is then that it becomes clear that the
man casts no shadow - it is Louis D'Onus**
**They seat
Master D'Onus in the pews near the rear of the Hall. His every
movement is stuttering pain, and he does not (cannot?) lift his head
to view the front of the Hall. And yet, a weak smile crosses his
face, almost defiant.**

Great Azura,
Vehk of the Tribunal, known also as the god-king Vivec, has
submitted himself to our judgement, according to Dunmer
law.
We understand that the Hortator Indoril Nerevar required
Vehk and the other Tribunes to swear that they would never to use
the tools of Kagrenac and that they swore this oath upon your
name.
We also understand that Vehk then murdered Indoril
Nerevar and, foreswearing their oath, the Tribunal used the tools of
Kagrenac to make themselves the gods of the Dunmer.
Further,
we understand that you swore you would cause Nerevar to return and
avenge himself against the Tribunal and now your servant, the
Nerevarine Incarnate, has destroyed Kagrenac's enchantments upon the
Heart of Lorkhan, severing the Tribunal's connection to the source
of their power and making them mortal again.
For these
reasons, because you are intimately tied to these events, and
because you have witnessed what is long past as no other has, we
hope that you will share your insight by answering some questions we
have prepared for you.

Gracious
Azura, our first question to you:
Do you regard Vehk and the
other Tribunes as having usurped the spiritual stewardship of the
Chimer or Dunmer people in place of yourself, Mephala and Boethiah,
or do you acknowledge the role of ALMSIVI as the legitimate
fulfilment of your roles as their anticipations, as prophesied by
your servant Veloth?

I am here
perhaps out of turn. Most certainly out of selfishness. If the
Prince is satisified I offer myself to Her willingly so that any
offense in Her eyes shall be answered to upon my own head.
My
own damnable knowledge I received in exchange for my hubris I give
to Her for the same reason. I am too far gone to depart. I
apologize.

in shining Indoril armor slides innocuously into the Hall. A
claymore is strapped to his back with a strange sword in a sheath at
his side. He draws off his helmet, revealing a short-cut shock of
black hair and a grim face, even grimmer than normal for a Dark Elf,
red eyes glaring out at the world. Even though none saw, he bowed to
the Lord Vivec, the Daedric Prinze Azura, and Ladies Allerleirauh
and Tegger before taking a place at the outer edge of the crowd to
watch the proceedings.

*A shape
unfolds from within Azura's Star and coalesces into a lovely female
form.
And so, the last of those you called "False Gods" seeks
his revenge against you, Azura; you, false to me, false to all my
people, petty and vengeful spirit, enemy of all my happiness. It is
I, Azura, I whom you never thought to see again. You swore in the
Halls of Oblivion that no mortal such as I was worthy to be paired
with a Prince of the Daedra. You thought, by binding me within this
prison of your own invention, to place me forever beyond the reach
of one who can transcend the bounds of life and death - my love, my
soul - to stop even my rebirth into the world in another form, lest
we two find one another again.
You have lost and I have won.
But what I have suffered at your hands I will not forget, not though
I die a thousand deaths and live a thousand lifetimes. It is your
turn, Azura, Mother of the Blasted Canker, Stain upon the Night Sky,
Prince of nothing but your own envy. May you be cast into outermost
darkness and uttermost cold. May you cry out to those who loved you
and hear nothing, not even your own voice. Never again show yourself
in this fair form to the mortal fools who have been your slaves; and
let what is offered to you be carried, steaming and redolent of
spices, to my Lord's table. My Lord, my lover who would never have
forsaken me, Clavicus Vile!

bear me no ill will for my use of you, but I am Vivec, born of

madness and the worm! Good night, scholar and sword! Good night all
who have spoken or lurked or cast stone! Good night, for Vehk and
Vehk shall speak here NO MORE!
This was my last gift to all
of you, which as they all have ever been, was a gift unto
MYSELF!
The time of the Empire is come!
Good
