First Era
| 1E 1 |
Camoran Dynasty of Valenwood is founded by King Eplear. This is the first written record in the Tamrielic Timeline. This new kingdom is later used as a buffer by the older kingdom of Ayleid (Wild Elves) of White Gold Tower in the Cyrodiil heartland, from the influence of stronger Altmer Kingdom of Alinor (Summurset Isle). In time, the Ayleid becomes more independent and the White Gold Tower eventually rises as a new independent city-state. |

King Hjalmer dies and his youngest son, King Vrage the Gifted, becomes the next king. |
| 1E 240 |
During the reign of King Vrage, Skyrim extends its wings. To the east, the Velothi area - which the Nord often calls Dwemereth (or, more recently, Dunmereth), now known as Morrowind - is the land of the established Dwemer and nomadic Chimer. This conquest is one of the epic clashes of the First Era. To the west, Skyrim conquers most of the area now known as High Rock, which was the territory of Altmer and Nedic peoples (the ancestor of Bretons and proto-Cyrodiils which have been already living there among the Elves). The arrival of the Nords upsets the balance of power between the Nedic people and the Elves. Eventually the Skyrim conquers High Rock; however, the Direnni (the ruling Altmer clan of High Rock) still exists and puts great resistance to the Nords. Within a span of fifty years, Skyrim rules all of northern Tamriel, including most of present-day High Rock, a deep stretch of the Nibenay Valley, and the whole of Morrowind. This is known as The First Empire of the Nords.

With the help of the stronger kingdom of Skyrim, the 'Alessian Army' eventually overthrows the Ayleids' rule over the Cyrodiil heartland. The remaining Ayleid seek refuge in Valenwood's Camoran Dynasty.
Some famous human heroes of this period of time are Morihaus, who leads the attack on White Gold Tower, and Pelinal Whitestrake, who suggests the massacre of the Ayleids and their sorcerer-kings. In the final battle of the White Gold Tower, Pelinal Whitestrake single-handedly slays Umaril the Unfeathered - a powerful sorcerer-king, champion of the Ayleid and blessed by the Daedric Prince Meridia. It is said that half of Umaril's blood is the blood of et'Ada, therefore he cannot be truly destroyed in the mortal realm. Pelinal does not survive the war, he is slain by the Ayleids. His body is cut into eight parts and scattered across Tamriel. Morihaus finds Pelinal's still-living head, kept alive in torment by the Ayleids. One of his last words to Morihaus, is a warning that Umaril might return in the future. The armor and weapons of Pelinal Whitestrake are later known as Crusader's Relics, blessings of Eight Divines, and reportedly lost after his death.

The so-called first Empire of Men, under the rule of Empress Alessia, prospers. And in a short time, the nearby kingdom of Colovia is conquered. Cyrodiil slowly build a strong national identity, as they slowly become the most populous culture of Tamriel.
Empress Alessia creates the new religion of the Eight Divines, based on the Nordic and Aldmeri religions. The Eight Divines is a cult that worships eight gods: Akatosh, Dibella, Arkay, Zenithar, Mara, Stendarr, Kynareth, and Julianos; and various saints, such as Shezarr (known as Shor by the Nords, and most known him as Lorkhan) as the spirit behind all human undertaking. The Eight Divines is the original form of the cult before it evolves to the modern Imperial Cult of Nine Divines, with an additional god: Tiber Septim or Talos.

The Apotheosis of Alessia. The earlier record says that Shezarr, the missing sibling god of the Eight Divines, arrives at the White Gold Tower in the Imperial City and transforms the dying Alessia into the first of the Cyrodiilic saints. Thus Empress Alessia becomes the first gem in the Amulet of Kings. While the book of Trials of Alessia states that Akatosh made a covenant with Alessia, he promises to protect the Empire of Men from the Daedric Princes of Oblivion as long as she and her descendants wear the Amulet of Kings and the magical dragonfire burn. This makes an interesting yet controversial connection (as revealed by Michael Kirkbride) that Akatosh is Shezarr/Lorkhan. Scholars are still debating this revelation to this day.
"So long as the Blood of the Dragon runs strong in her rulers, the glory of the Empire shall extend in unbroken years. But should the dragonfires fail, and should no heir of our joined blood wear the Amulet of Kings, then shall the Empire descend into darkness, and the Demon Lords of Misrule shall govern the land."

The Alessian Doctrines are enforced throughout the Cyrodiilic Heartland and northern Tamriel. The Alessian Doctrines are very strict religious teachings of the monkey prophet, Maruhk. Maruhk himself reportedly receives painful visions from ghost of the Slave-Queen Alessia, calling for a worldwide overthrow of Elven rule and a suppression of the Elven elements of the Eight Divines. They enforce strict codes of behavior, which preclude most forms of entertainment. |

One of the Dwemer factions, Rourken clan refuses to make peace with the Chimer, the clan makes themselves self-exiled and departs to the western part of Tamriel. They eventually arrive on Hammerfell and build their new kingdom known as Volenfell, located somewhere near Gilane. Some notes call them as The Left-Handed Elves. The legend says that the Rourken chieftain threw his mighty hammer, Volendrung, across Tamriel, promising to lead his clansmer to "wherever it should fall." This mythic image has been depicted on the walls of several ruins in Hammerfell: a mass exodus of golden-clad Dwemer, trudging through the Cyrodiilic forests, Volendrung a falling star in the nightsky before them, urging them on. Not only the artifact Volendrung, The Rourken clan is also associated with the artifact known as The Spell Breaker. In Skyrim, The War of Succession is finally concluded with the Pact of Chieftans; henceforth, the Moot is convened only when a King died without direct heirs. Unfortunately, The Nordic Empire has lost control of its territories in High Rock, Morrowind, and Cyrodiil. Later on, the Moot has fulfilled this more limited role admirably. It has only been called upon three times in the intervening millennia, and the Skyrim succession has never again been disputed on the field of battle.

The horrible War of the First Council, between Chimer and Dwemer, rages. Kagrenac, a Dwemeri architect tries to use the recovered Heart of Lorkhan to fuel his magnificent creation, Numidium, a giant construct, in order to make it a new god. The information is leaked to Dagoth Ur of the Sixth House of Chimer. In a short time this shocking news comes to Indoril Nerevar of the Chimer.
The Chimer strongly disagree with the Dwemer. They believe this is blasphemy, a mockery of Chimer faith. Besides, the Dwemer are creating a fearsome weapon. Indoril Nerevar and Dumac Dwarfking meet initially, but Kagrenac takes offense and the meeting fails. Nerevar negotiates another meeting, and this time Dumac and Nerevar quarrel bitterly and eventually war starts.
While the Chimer armies and the Dwemer armies face each other in the field, Nerevar along with Dagoth Ur and a small band of Chimer successfully enter Dumac's citadel in Red Mountain. Inside they confront Dumac and Kagrenac. In the confusing battle, Kagrenac turns to his tools (Wraithguard, Keening and Sunder) and uses them on the Heart of Lorkhan, and, in that very moment, all Dwemer cease to exist. They disappear from the surface of Tamriel (including the Dwemer of Volenfell); nobody knows where they went or what happened to them.
The Ashlander account on this event is quite different. In the battle both Nerevar and Dumac are grievously wounded. Dagoth Ur takes the chance to slay Kagrenac and collects his tools. Not knowing what to do with the tools or how to use them, Dagoth Ur and Nerevar seek Azura's guidance, who tells them how to severe the connection that Dwemer have with the Heart of Lorkhan. Then on the battlefield, the armies of Chimer watch the Dwemer armies turn into dust as their connection to the heart has been destroyed.
Source about Dwemer (and their dissapearance): The Mystery of the Dwemer, Dwemer Energy Study, Academy for Dwemer Studies, The Definitive Guide to Dwemer, Book of Dwarven Lore.
Nerevar feels that he needs to consult with his advisors, the Tribunal (Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Vivec) so he leaves the Red Mountain citadel and temporarily puts Dagoth Ur in charge keeping the tools safe until he comes back. The Tribunal wants to keep, study, and eventually use the tools if required. Nerevar does not agree with using the "profane" tools, but he does agree to keep the tools and study them as long as they all swear under Azura's name to never use them.
They all go back to Red Mountain to find that somehow, Dagoth Ur has been corrupted and is unwilling to give the tools back. The Tribunal and Nerevar are forced to wrestle the tools from Dagoth Ur. Dagoth Ur escapes from Red Mountain.
Later, after the death of Nerevar, Sotha Sil manages to learn how to use Kagrenac's tools so that a mortal can tap the divine power within the heart and turn himself/herself into a god. The Tribunal decide to use this for the good of their people. So, they go to Red Mountain and use the tools to tap the divine power of Lorkhan's Heart.
Azura comes before them and curses them for what they have done. Sotha Sil tells Azura that the Chimer do not need the old gods anymore as they, the Tribunal are the new gods of their people. It is obvious that Sotha Sil's statement angers the Daedric Prince. She prophesizes that in the future the spirit of Nerevar will return and punish all of them. Then Azura curses the entire race of Chimer. Their skin turns dark and their eyes turn red. Later on, they are known as the Dark Elves or Dunmer.
This event marks the birth of Dunmer's new religion, the Tribunal (which venerates three immortal god-kings -- Lord Vivec, Lord Sotha Sil, and Lady Almalexia), and their nemesis, Dagoth Ur, who somehow survives beneath the Red Mountain.
The Death of Nerevar is controversial and intensely discussed by many scholars. Does the Tribunal murder Nerevar? The Ashlander's account tells, "They made ritual as if to summon Azura as Nerevar wanted but Almalexia used poisoned candles and Sotha Sil used poisoned robes and Vivec used poisoned invocations. Nerevar was murdered." Lord Vivec himself always says that Tribunal did not murder Nerevar. However in Vivec's own The Thirty-Six Lessons, Vivec puts a secret message, which says, "He was not born a god. His destiny did not lead him to this crime. He chose this path of his own free will. He stole the godhood and murdered the Hortator. Vivec wrote this."
Some scholars believe that after these events Resdayn is no more and the area's name changes to Morrowind. On the other hand, another scholar says that this Morrowind is an Imperial name, and the changing occurs after the Imperial conquers the area. But one thing is for sure, after these events, the historians and other lore books refer to this area as Morrowind, no longer Resdayn or Velothi.

The Vvardenfell Mountain erupts probably because of the use of the Kagrenac's tools. The eruption is still recalled in the tales of numerous peoples - to the Nords it was "The Year of Winter in Summer", to the Khajiit, "Sun's Death".

The Yokudan arrives at Volenfell after a catastrophic disaster on the continent of Yokuda. The powerful Yokudan warriors (who are later known as the Forebears faction of Redguard society) are the first ones to arrive in Volenfell. The first Yokudan wave that first arrived in Volenfell is known as The Warrior Wave or "Ra Gada". They drive the aboriginal beastfolk (goblin and orc) and the nedic (human) settlers out of the land, effectively making a secure way for the king and Na-Totambu ruling class (who are later known as the Crowns faction of the Redguard society) that arrive later after Volenfell has been conquered.
Frandar Hunding is among the first who comes and investigates the new land. Hunding's party is ambushed by the goblins under the lead of Malooc. Frandar Hunding dies on the assault. Later on, in order to end the assaults of the goblin horde that seemingly has unlimited number, Divad, the son of Frandar Hunding, forges five swords and imbues them with the magic of the Spirit Sword. Then Divad and the five Ansei who wield the five magical swords face the goblin horde and finally able to destroy them once and for all. After the final battle the five Ansei and Divad climb the northern mountains. The Ansei hide themselves, guarding the swords. Divad returns to Volenfell and passes away short after. Although, Hunding is killed in the first battle, but the Redguard reveres him as the god who makes the way for the people.
The Yokudan, who later gets the name "Redguard" from "Ra Gada", claims Volenfell as their new homeland, and it is renamed to Hammerfell. The beastfolk refugees escape from Volenfell and join the Orcs of the Orsinium in the Wrothgarian Mountain; strengthening the Orsinium.

The Maruhkati Selective, a fanatical sect of the Alesian Order, is frustrated that the aspects of the ancient Aldmeri god, Auriel exists within the Supreme Spirit of the Eight Divines, Akatosh. The secret masters of the Maruhkati Selective channel the Aurbis to mythically remove those aspects. The tower or staff appears, and they dance on it until it writhed and trembled and spoke its protonymic. The tower splits into eight pieces and the Time (Dragon) break. Non-linearity of the Dawn Era returns, thus it is known as the Middle Dawn. Tamriel sleeps through the disaster for 'one thousand and eight years', until the pieces of the tower came to rest on the mortal plane.
This Dragon Break event is recorded in the first Tamrielic Encyclopedia, but Fal Droon in his work The Dragon Break Reexamined, states that the Dragon Break is invented in the late 3rd era, based on a scholarly error, fueled by obsession with eschatology and Numidiumism, and perpetuated by scholarly inertia. Still this event is important, and therefore worth recorded here.
