Liquors of Morrowind
An index of liquors, beers, and brews found throughout Morrowind.
Cyrodiilic Brandy:
Value: 100g
Weight: 1.00
Effects:
Fortify Willpower 20 pts for 60 secs
Fortify Endurance 20 pts for 60 secs
Cyrodiilic brandy, like flin, is an imported Imperial brandy. It is expensive, though, because of taxes on the importation of Imperial items, (something that is resented by Dunmer!) but is known for its ability to increase the drinker's willpower and endurance, without any of the unpleasant side effects of some other forms of alcohol. It can be found in the cupboards of the higher classes in Morrowind.
Flin:
Value: 100g
Weight: 1.00
Effects:
Fortify Willpower 20 pts for 60 secs
Fortify Strength 20 pts for 60 secs
Flin is another imported Imperial whiskey, known for its power to increase strength. Even though it is expensive, it is preferred by those citizens of Morrowind who are fortunate enough to afford it, because of the lack of degrading side effects it has. It is also a heated subject in the importation and tax area.
Nord Mead:
Value: 80g
Weight: 1.00
Effects:
Fortify Strength 30 pts for 60 secs
Drain Agility 30 pts for 60 secs
Nord mead is a very sweet alcohol, made with generous amounts of honey, and well loved by the northern race. As much as it is liked by Nords, who drink large amounts of the mead, it is rarely asked for by other races, some of whom refer to it as "…terrible stuff…". As a result, in Morrowind, Nord mead is found exclusively in Solstheim. Like vintage brandy, it makes you stronger, but also makes you clumsy.
Vintage Brandy:
Value: 500g
Weight: 1.00
Effects:
Fortify Strength 30 pts for 360 secs
Drain Agility 30 pts for 360 secs
Vintage brandy is a very old, very expensive, and very rare brandy, found in only a few places in Morrowind. It is stored in bottles very similar to Greef, but is a much longer fermented drink, and very strong. It fortifies strength, but also makes you clumsy, unfortunately.
Ancient Dagoth Brandy:
Value: 1500g
Weight: .50
Effects:
Damage Intelligence 20 pts for 60 secs
Damage Willpower 20 pts for 60 secs
Ancient Dagoth brandy is, well, ancient, in a word. It is an extremely old brandy, perhaps brewed or drank by Dagoths long ago, and is also extremely expensive. I highly discourage drinking it, though, because of its extreme rarity, and because of its damaging side effects. One of the very few places it can be found is on Creeper the scamp, in Ghorak Manor, Caldera.
Greef:
Value: 30g
Weight: 5.00
Effects:
Fortify Strength 20 pts for 60 secs
Drain Agility 20 pts for 60 secs
Greef is the name of the native comberry brandy, a widespread and cheap alcohol. It can be found throughout Morrowind, and is one of the local brews. It is also one of the alcohols drank by the lower classes of Morrowind citizens. Greef is bottled in containers similar to vintage brandy, although it isn't near as aged. As with Nord mead, it will fortify strength, yet drain agility.
Mazte:
Value: 10g
Weight: 5.00
Effects:
Fortify Strength 20 pts for 60 secs
Drain Willpower 20 pts for 60 secs
Drain Intelligence 20 pts for 60 secs
Mazte is a cheap, plentiful, somewhat invigorating, and very popular beer brewed from fermented saltrice. It is a member of the group of 'local brews', meaning it is cheap and easy to get, since it isn't imported. Also, because it is a local brew, it has some negative effects: in this case, it will drain and dull the drinker's wit and judgment. It is one of the cheapest liquors in Morrowind, however, so is plentiful, especially among the poorer commoners. Mazte is cheaper than the other alcohols because it has two negative side-effects, and only one positive.
Shein:
Value: 10g
Weight: 3.00
Effects:
Fortify Endurance 10 pts for 60 secs
Drain Intelligence 10 pts for 60 secs
Shein is the name of the local wine that is brewed from comberry. It is as cheap and plentiful as mazte, but isn't quite as potent. However, Shein is commonly drunk by the humbler folk because it has only one unpleasant side-effect, whereas mazte has two. It will increase the endurance of the drinker, but also cause him or her to be stupid for a while.
Sujamma:
Value: 30g
Weight: 3.00
Effects:
Fortify Strength 50 pts for 60 secs
Drain Intelligence 50 pts for 60 secs
Sujamma is highly regarded for its extreme potency, and its ability to make the drinker as strong as a bull netch. It is one of the local Dunmer liquors, and as such, dulls the drinker's ability to think correctly. Some of the natives say: "It has a kick like a guar-very strong, and just as stupid." It is one of the more expensive local brews, but is still very cheap compared to the imported alcohols, so it is used among the commoners, and those seeking fortified strength.
