Auriel's Bow

History

The first recorded report of this powerful artifact is from an ancient text belonging to the Elven Lord Alendis, a text that marked the location of the map that in turn pointed to the location of the artifact. This map was found somewhere in Valenwood, while the artifact itself was found by the Eternal Champion in his quest to overthrow Jagar Tharn. The artifact was later reported to be in the possesion of an unknown person who asked for help from an Iliac Bay Fighters Guild. The Hero of Daggerfall took this quest and was rewarded with the bow. Later, the bow came to be in the possesion of Ralyn Othravel, a disciple in Ghostgate, Vvardenfell, Morrowind. Lady Therana, a mad Telvanni councilor, asked the Nerevarine to acquire the bow for her (or so the Nerevarine thought). We can assume that Therana owns the bow now.

Arena   Auriel's Bow appears as a modest Elven Longbow, but it is one of the mightiest weapons ever to exist in Tamriel's history. Allegedly created and used like its sister, Auriel's Shield, by the great Elvish demi-god, the Bow can turn any arrow into a missile of death and any wielder invulnerable to any lesser attacks. Without Auriel's power behind it, however, the bow uses its own store of energy for its power. Once exhausted of this energy, the bow will vanish and reappear wherever chance puts it. Its most recent appearances have been subject of gossip for hundred's of years.

Morrowind Auriel's Bow - Morrowind Version Librarian's Note: This artifact does indeed exist in Morrowind, but all of its magical power has disappeared. Despite that, Auriel's Bow is still among the greatest bows that can be found in Morrowind (it's as powerful as a Daedric Long Bow but it has a lower weight). No official description of the artifact exists.
