April 2nd, 2005 - Sinder Velvin - «Discuss this»

No good thing lasts forever.

And there comes a time in the history of each website when that website must be closed, lost to memory, mostly because the webmasters lack the motivation to keep going on. Well, I have good news and bad news for you, dear visitors of the Imperial Library.

Good news: The Imperial Library is not going to be closed any time soon.

Bad news: The Imperial Library is no longer going to contain lore about the CRPG series known as The Elder Scrolls. We are terribly sorry, but we, the librarians, are certain that Oblivion is going to be the last Elder Scrolls game. The Library has been around for a long time, and it has always contained a lot of Elder Scrolls information, but we see little point in continuing to walk on a road that eventually leads to a dead end. We are... Sorry. But this is still better than closing the site altogether.

We will keep all the Elder Scrolls stuff that we have for 2 weeks, after which we will have to remove the Elder Scrolls content and start over again, this time as a site about Dungeons & Dragons, eagerly awaiting the releases of Neverwinter Nights 2 and Baldur's Gate 3. Why do we have to remove the Elder Scrolls content? Because it takes up a lot of bandwidth. So please do a great favor to the Elder Scrolls community and try to salvage as much information from the website as possible in those 2 following weeks.

Thank you and farewell. And I hope to see you again... Soon.

Two articles are added to Forum Scholars Guild. One brand new is an excellent compilation done by Nalion, the title is The Flora of Morrowind. The other is not really new, was done by Raptormeat. The title is Khajiit Physiology. With this article in this library, now we have completely raided the Aldrien's Chalice.

Enjoy, and see you later...

March 17th, 2005 - B - «Discuss this»

It's THAT time again!

I've added five more words to the TES Translation Dictionary. You can now find 'Balac-thurm', 'Ehlnofex', 'Ehlnofey', 'Mnemoli' and 'thu'um'.

March 10th, 2005 - B - «Discuss this»

Sinder collects Easter Eggs, and I'm going to collect words: I've added six new words to the TES Translation Dictionary. You can now find 'Acharyai', 'Aetherius', 'Aurbis', 'Jagga', 'Mundus' and 'Rothmeth'.

March 10th, 2005 - Xan - «Discuss this»

One more piece of Raptormeat's creation has been brought and updated here in TIL. It's the Definitive Guide to Dwemer.

Enjoy..

March 8th, 2005 - Sinder Velvin - «Discuss this»

The Morrowind Easter Eggs subsection of Dog Ate My Homework has been updated. Again. Hopefully, I'll soon be done with these easter eggs for good.

March 8th, 2005 - Xan - «Discuss this»

I've added TSBasilisk's article On Tonal Architecture in Forum Scholars Guild section. And the Report on Mines and Minerals has been updated a little bit, in fact the author's name is Bravonius Maximus.

Other thing, I added a new piece of map in our Cartography section. It's in-game map from Morrowind GOTY, and this one has been annotated by Wolfie. He did a great job on this, and some other version of the maps can be found in his den. That's all for now and hope you can enjoy anything we presented here, and stay tune for the next update, we have some new sections on work.

March 7th, 2005 - B - «Discuss this»

Well, if you’re reading this, then you have found this site and know that the new url is http://til.gamingsource.net/. Please spread the word.

Today, we have assimilated another wonderful creation from Raptormeat’s website. With his blessings, we have collected all of his entries from the Translation Dictionary and created our own reference source: TES Translation Dictionary.

March 5th, 2005 - Xan - «Discuss this»

I've added a small yet important report in Forum Scholars Guild section. It's a report on mines and minerals done by a fellow Imperial named Bravo (strange name for Imperial though, hehe..).

And, today's theme is Battlespire. I added the Story of Battlespire, and a couple old Battlespire images in our Gallery section. Hope you all like them.

February 28th, 2005 - B - «Discuss this»

For the sake of posterity, we Librarians have decided to raid Raptormeat’s website known as Aldrien's Chalice. Since it is filled with many excellent sources of information, we have decided to collect several of them here for your viewing pleasure. The first assimilated piece of text is The Guide to Akavir.

Enjoy!

February 13th, 2005 - Sinder Velvin - «Discuss this»

February 11th, 2005 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Other than that I added a link in Elder Scrolls Elsewhere to TESSource.net. A website run by our host Dark0ne. And to make you busy, I have a movie to download today: The intro movie of Redguard. Did you ever hear the Khajiit tongue? Here in this very movie, S'rathra talks in Khajiiti. Enjoy...

Hello again...

We have more movies here today. The Story of Daggerfall is updated with seven endings of Daggerfall. Just go to subsection: Mantella, and you'll be able to find those movies. You know that the Bethsoft always says that all seven factions of in TES2:Daggerfall won that Numidium. It was called the Warp in the West. Now, you have chance to view all the seven factions' movies without finishing the long main quest of TES2:Daggerfall.

Other than that, Darth Blade has updated his Bal Molagmer article. Check it out.

January 19th, 2005 - Xan - «Discuss this»

The Timeline is updated with some events from Shadowkey and some others. And today I have the intro movie of Battlespire available. Check it out! Have fun...

January 17th, 2005 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Today, a new section is up: The Story of Shadowkey. It's originally written by Reaver of ElderScrolls.net. Thanks for the great job. Other than that, the Forum Scholars Guild section is updated with a new article by Darth Blade, titled The Bal Molagmer. And I've added a link to The Hlaalu Stronghold in our ES Elsewhere.

I still have some unfinished job, like updating our timeline section with the event of Shadowkey. So, stay tune for next update.

An IRC channel for the Imperial Library has been created. Check the Contact Us section for more information.

December 2nd, 2004 - B - «Discuss this»

As I was going through the Library, I noticed that we have a Book of Daedra but no Book of Aedra. And so, the Librarians would like to present a new section called The Nine Divines. Enjoy!

Also, I added three poems to the Mad God's Masque and Bellicose Ball.

November 30th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

What? An update? Yess... Today, the Game Introductions section is updated. First I added the introduction of The Elder Scrolls Travels: Shadowkey, thanks again to Reaver for the screenshots. Second, I added a movie of Daggerfall intro in this library. Yeah, you read it right: the movie of midnight meeting with Uriel Septim VII. I will not link the movie from this news page, you have to find it yourself. It's obvious, no?

November 28th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

I received some more Shadowkey scrolls from Reaver. They have been added here. Other than that I added an interview with denizens of Vvardenfell about the Dwemer. I tweak the navigational menu a little bit, so all interviews can be reached easily from anywhere.

November 24th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Update time... A new section is added, Shadowkey Books. Thanks to Reaver of the ElderScrolls.net. And, the Books of Daedra is updated with movies of Daedra Princes. You can now take a closer look on your particular prince.

November 20th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Finally, The Story of Morrowind is finished. Whew, some long days with less sleep. No more... I can sleep all day long now. Please note although this is considered finished, but I may add some interesting topics in that section later, like Mages Guild: Dissapearance of the Dwarves. But that's not today. I need sleep...

November 14th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

I've added some more entries to the Bloodmoon storyline/dialogue in The Story of Morrowind. Other than that, I added a page of Redguard Characters in the Game Introductions section. Actually this is not new, but it is a copy of a page from Official Redguard Website.

November 13th, 2004 - Sinder Velvin - «Discuss this»

Do you remember the Morrowind Easter Eggs that I wrote a while ago? Well, I've updated them a little.

November 12th, 2004 - Sinder Velvin - «Discuss this»

Hmm... Yet another librarian joins the Imperial Library? Yes, yes, your intuition serves you right: I, Sinder Velvin, have joined the Library. Henceforth, you shall adress me as "Mr. Librarian Sinder Velvin". Am I clear enough? Ah, I'm just joking. Now, you're probably wondering if I've changed or added anything to the Library. The answer to that is no. Ok, ok, I've added some information about myself in the About Us section and I've added my e-mail adress to the mailing list, but other than that I haven't done anything. I'll get to work immediately, though.

November 10th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

I am starting to fill the Bloodmoon storyline/dialogue in The Story of Morrowind.

November 4th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Finally the Mournhold Chapter of The Story of Morrowind is finished. Check that out.

Some more Redguard stuff have been added in Redguard Books. And the the hero of The Story of Morrowind has met Barilzar, to wrestle his Mazed Band.

October 12th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

A nice dialogue is added today: A Meeting with Sload. This one is submitted by Nigedo. Thanks bro!

October 11th, 2004 - Attrebus - «Discuss this»

Make that three updates!

I've added a Forum Scholars Guild article by Darth Blade about the various Dwemer Constructs found in Vvardenfell. Currently only the Centurion Spider and Steam Centurion are covered, although it sounds as if more are on the way. So head on over and have a read.

October 11th, 2004 - B - «Discuss this»

Two updates in one day!

Some new poems were added to the Mad God's Masque and Bellicose Ball. I attempted to title a few, too. I hope you enjoy them.

October 11th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Thanks to Geert who informed us that Bloodmoon's Pirate Captain's Note link is broken. It's fixed now.

Other than that, I start filling the Mournhold Chapter of The Story of Morrowind.

October 6th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

First of all I want to thank two people, Nigedo and PreManMan. Nigedo has given me one of the books from Redguard that somehow we don't have it. It's Redguards, Their Heroes and History. PreManMan has reported that we missed a book, it's titled No-h's Picture Book of Wood. It has been added now.

I have also finished the Vvardenfell Chapter of The Story of Morrowind. Soon, I will start to fill the storyline of Tribunal.

October 2nd, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Oh dear... another update?!

Yo people, Dog Ate My Homework section is updated with lots of Easter Eggs done by Sinder Velvin. Enjoy...

Recently, a person named Mara001 participated in certain discussion in Official ES Past Game Forum. Who is this person? In fact she is Marilyn Wasserman, a beta tester of Daggerfall. Bethsoft uses her name as one of the original Eight Divines, the goddess Mara. And... she is also the author of the famous The Real Barenziah and King Edward. Wow...

October 1st, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Hello again... A new map is added to our Cartography section. It is the brown Solstheim map created by Fallen. Also, I added Erabenimsun Tribe in The Story of Morrowind section. Soon the the Vvardenfell Chapter will be finished, and then I can continue on Mournhold Chapter.

September 30th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Heh heh... seems like we are doing daily update now.

We have modified the left navigational menu. This, I believe, would make finding a certain text easier. But, if you still have difficulties finding some text, there is always a search service available.

Other than that, we have a new section here called Mad God's Masque and Bellicose Ball. A tribute to Sheogorath... um, Tedders.

And the last one but not the least, there is a new article in the Forum Scholars Guild section, titled General Information on Dreugh by Dumbkid. This is an excellent analysis on an underwater creature known as Dreugh. Check it out.

That’s it, and enjoy...

September 29th, 2004 - B - «Discuss this»

For all of you who care, I made some changes to the Guide to the Psijic Order. I added a section called "The War of the Isle" and added a source list. It should be the last major section of the Guide until new information is released.

Now I just have to go back through it, revise, edit and add anything that I’ve missed.

Until then, enjoy!

September 28th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

I just fixed some html error in TES3 Encyclopedia (careful, it's huge). Also, I added one letter from Bloodmoon: "Letter from Rigmor to Risi" in Morrowind Books section. Thanks to Geert.

September 27th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Hello...

As you have perhaps known, Zeph has already finished the third volume of his excellent The Elder Scrolls Treasury. The title is Encyclopedia of Morrowind and it is available in Morrowind Summit. By the title you can see how important the file is, so I decided to put the complete set of TES Treasury in a special section in this library. It’s Zeph’s TES Treasury. Some people from time to time ask me about an offline TIL, since the massive amount of text here we cannot provide it, but if you are looking for just the Morrowind books, the TES Treasury, Volume I has all the books. Thanks to Zeph! Now enjoy the new addition in this library. And by the way, I am still working on the Morrowind Storyline. I have added some new topics since the last update.

September 18th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Some items have been added here. Perhaps I haven't informed you that we host the archive of some of the important threads of the Official Elder Scrolls old forum (including the famous Trial of Vivec). The index page is in the Obscure Texts section. Also, I added one huge article in the Forum Scholars Guild. The article is titled "What Happened At Red Mountain - Analysis, Chronology" by Sinder Velvin.

And, one thing... Currently I am working on a new section called The Story of Morrowind (or Morrowind Storyline in the left navigational scroll). It's still a Work-In-Progress, but you can enjoy read some of the pages there. Please throw me some email if you found some errors, typos or if I missed some dialogues. That's it, and... one more thing. This is about the recently announced TES4: Oblivion. Attrebus has compiled a nice FAQ for you. It's in Destination: Morrowind, or you can click directly here.

September 10th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Well, well... finally TES4:Oblivion is announced! That's great! See it yourself here.

In this library, we have finished fixing the errors and typos everywhere. Thanks AGAIN to Sinder Velvin for supplying us all the errors and typos. Great Job man! And also here in this happy moment, I want to tell you that we have a new section: Artifacts of Elder Scrolls. This section is supposed to hold the description and history of all known artifacts from all Elder Scrolls games. And I see that B has done a great job by composing the Guide to the Psijic Order. I am sure that this guide would be essential later for TES4:Oblivion. That's it, and see you later.

September 1st, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Well, today is September First, 2004. That means one more year for the library. Wow, now the library has hit the sixth year. Let's party... ^_^

August 28th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Another update today, I have added some daedric artifacts into the Book of Daedra page. Also the ordering of the map section is changed a little bit to make easier to get the latest ones.

August 27th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Here I would like to thanks Sinder Velvin for his help checking the grammar and spelling of some pages here in TIL. Among the updated pages are The Timeline, The Story of Daggerfall, and The Vampire. Perhaps you would see no changes in the pages, but hey, we are just fixing the grammar and spelling no additional info, except The Timeline. There are one or more updated text in the Timeline, especially the event of Battle of Red Mountain in the first era. I updated also Zeph's Common Names in Morrowind, he sent me the updated document and here, it is updated. Sorry to Zeph for mispelling your name before. Last time I promised a new page about all the Elder Scrolls Artifact, well, the work takes me longer than I thought, and until now the page is not yet ready for you to enjoy. Sorry.

August 20th, 2004 - B - «Discuss this»

I added a link to the Guide to the Psijic Order in the side scroll menu. My work isn't done yet, but it's coming along.

August 14th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Just added something... Common Names in Morrowind, a part of excellent Tse Eph's Elder Scrolls Treasury is now here. Other than that, a new map of Tamriel, done by Rahmonses, was added to the maps section. Currently I am working to list all the artifacts of Elder Scrolls. It might by ready within one or two days, so stay tune.

August 9th, 2004 - Attrebus - «Discuss this»

Just a quick note to let you all know that the Forum Scholars Guild has been changed slightly. The articles are now grouped by author, and a small description has been added for each. Enjoy!

August 3rd, 2004 - Qwerty - «Discuss this»

I have added a nifty new antispam feature to the Storyboard.
Now you finally can provide your e-mail address when you post and not worry about it getting into wrong hands - the addy won't be visible as cleartext anymore, meaning that spam robots won't be able to fish it from the board. Instead, where a "mailto:" link used to be, there is now an innocent-looking HTTP link, which leads one to the private message form with you as the recipient. From your standpoint, you will still receive a plain e-mail.

Incidentally, if you want a similar technology for your own website (provided one exists), let me know and we can share some lines of code. Technically, it's nothing particularly complicated, really. Let's make the Web a better place for everyone, together!

July 30th, 2004 - Attrebus - «Discuss this»

A fairly small update today - namely the addition of two more Forum Scholar Guild articles.

The first is by Morbus Doom and covers decoding the Dwemer language. So head on over and see if you can help - who knows, you might even crack it!

The second article is by Adanorcil, who talks about everyone's favourite Morrowind creature - Cliff Racers! Regardless of your feelings towards these flying abominations, the article is a great read.

July 21st, 2004 - Qwerty - «Discuss this»

I've documented the whole history of confusion that surrounds the Tamriel Calendar. Putting it briefly, the calendar was one way in Arena and Daggerfall (except in the manual), and another way in Morrowind. Adding insult to injury, the Bethesda boys messed it up in Morrowind, which resulted in January missing. Read the juicy details inside!

July 13th, 2004 - Attrebus - «Discuss this»

A couple of additions today. The first is a new article was added to the Forum Scholars Guild and is by Gleb about Dwemeri Tactics in battle. Some interesting thoughts on the different types of weapons and mechanical constructs created by the ever elusive Dwemer.

The other new addition is a partially complete interview with Vivec conducted by the dearly departed Striker. Even though it is short, it's a rather interesting read. Enjoy!

June 30th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Morrowind Books section is updated again with some letters and scrolls. Among these, is the recently decoded one of the Thieves Guild books, Sottilde's Code Book. The decoding was done by Ryan Parker. Thanks Ryan!

June 23rd, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Big update to the maps section. Check it out. Oh yeah, don't forget to visit us later on July 10th. A nice surprise awaits you.

June 17th, 2004 - Qwerty - «Discuss this»

On the next July 10, do visit The Imperial Library. While here, pay some attention to the right-top corner.

May 24th, 2004 - B - «Discuss this»

A brief update today. I added the movie scenes from the Redguard Introduction. Click here to take a look. Thanks once again goes to Aquiantus for capturing the images.

May 22nd, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

A huge update today. Morrowind Books section has been updated with 57 books, letters, notes, advertising papers, and writs. Yeah, we have Morag Tong’s writs in the library now. Scary you say? No, this is just for scholarship issue. No one will be assassinated. ^_^ Other than that, the Gallery of Elder Scrolls has been update also with lots of early screenshots of Arena and Daggerfall. Check them out. And finally... The Obscure Texts section has a new entry that I called “Sotha Sil’s Last Words...”. Now, that’s interesting, isn't it?

May 20th, 2004 - B - «Discuss this»

I finally got around to adding the Redguard Intro to the Game Introductions section. Thanks go to Aquiantus for transcribing the text for us. I'll have the introduction cutscenes from Redguard up in a few days.

Until then ... Enjoy!

May 7th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Finally the Art of Morrowind in the Elder Scrolls Gallery is finished. Thanks go to B, as he is the one who did all the scanning of the booklet for you now to enjoy. Stay tune for the the next images/concept arts/early screenshots of Elder Scrolls. Cheers...

May 2nd, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

As promised, Gallery of Elder Scrolls is updated. Ah yes, some more Elder Scrolls links have been added in ES Elsewhere. Enjoy...

May 1st, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Heya... Today, I just modified the design a little bit, archived some of the news in this page, and put all the links to the other websites in a page named Elder Scrolls Elsewhere. That's all. Ah yes, the Elder Scrolls Gallery will be updated tomorrow, I'm just too tired to do that now.

April 23rd, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Hello again... Today, the Gallery of Elder Scrolls is updated with more cool concept arts. I received one Bloodmoon concept art that is done by GT "Wormgod" Noonan. B has also finished another batch of scanned Morrowind concept arts. Other thing in this update, I moved the Origin of Cyrus into Redguard Books section, and I combined Daggerfacts into Dog Ate My Homework section. I think this is a necessary step to do to simplify the left navigation scroll, which is started to be cluttered with sections and links.

April 16th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Okay people... another update.

Gallery of Elder Scrolls has been updated with some more cool images. I prefer not to spoil you in this page, and you better go to the page itself and check what's new.

April 15th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

You know what? All looked quiet, silent and boring... Suddenly Bethsoft announced the 10th Anniversary of Elder Scrolls and offering a free Arena, then the Past Game forum of the ES Official forum is full from the people asking this and that of Arena. Heh heh... Don't get me wrong though, I am not complaint. I just feel happy to see the old seemingly abandoned forum comes alive again. Some people complaint that Arena is hard and cannot get out of the first dungeon alive. Heh, just want to little boast, I did that dungeon without saving and especially no cheat! Just using a dagger. Ah well, people that dungeon is supposed to be easy and to train your character for deadlier environment outside.

Ah... the update. I just added some Arena introduction cutscenes screenshots in the Introduction section of the library. Check it out.

April 14th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Hello...

Quite a big update today, The Gallery of Elder Scrolls has been updated with some nice Bloodmoon concept arts. Other than that, Nazz has added one more article to the Forum Scholars Guild section, and one old strange text by Michael Kirkbride has been added as well to the Obscured Texts section.

April 6th, 2004 - Attrebus - «Discuss this»

Firstly, I should introduce myself. Due to Striker's untimely demise during the Trial of Vivec, I, as his student, will be taking over his duties here at the Library. With the formalities out of the way, I've been put in charge of a small clean up of some Library documents. To this end, you will now find Nazz's Lore Rant of the Moment in the Forum Scholars Guild section instead.

Also, there is some great news for all you Elder Scrolls fans out there: Bethesda are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the first Elder Scrolls game being released!

Not only have they added some background information about all of the Elder Scrolls games, there is also an Elder Scrolls Giveaway (for the US only) as well as making TES1: Arena avaliable for FREE download! If you've ever wanted to see how it all started, and haven't already, now's your chance.

So Happy Birthday Elder Scrolls!

No, this is not April fools. I just added a new section called the Gallery of Elder Scrolls. You may find some interesting images there. Currently the gallery has only some images from Redguard and in the near future I will add more Elder Scrolls images. Ciao...

March 26th, 2004 - Qwerty - «Discuss this»

I've rearranged the navigation bar on the left so that the most popular site sections are on top of the list.

March 13th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Today, a further update to the Tamriel Timeline and a small fix to Elder Scrolls Calendar page. And I did some cleaning to this page; make this page lighter to load. That's it.

March 12th, 2004 - Qwerty - «Discuss this»

I've replaced the cleartext e-mail addresses of the librarians with a contact form. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we all receive a lot of spam, and exposing our addresses to the world doesn't seem like a good idea anymore.

March 9th, 2004 - B - «Discuss this»

Xan wanted me to announce the New and Improved Daggerfall Game Introduction Section of the Library. It now contains the transcribed narrator speech from the game movie, as well as, lots of great pictures.

Remember, Xan did all the work, so you can send the praise and goodies his way. Also, in truth, a big Thank You goes to Aquiantus, Brendan, and Andux for transcribing the narrator speech for us.

Our host Gamingsource changed the advertising scheme, that was why your browser produced an error on the page when you loaded this site. They changed the advertising from popup advertising to banner advertising. Well, that's a good thing for me. Like most of you I hate popup. Therefore I have to change the design a little bit. Now, on the top you'll see a banner, yeah, adv. banner. Currently it's just an ugly TIL banner, Gamingsource hasn't finished testing all their banners. The searching tool can be found on the left site of the page under the huge scroll that holds the all TIL sections.

Other things, I've updated several pages. Dog Ate My Homework section has a new entry. That's it, now you may resume your life...

Put up the pictures, as promised.

Today's update is an early interview with the fine folks at Bethesda Softworks, conducted by me (Qwerty) back in 2001. That was before Kirkbride left Bethesda. By now, the info might seem trivial, but what do you expect - it was long before the release, and the juicy details were kept well under wrap by the ever-vigilant PR dept. There's one single bit that makes the whole text worthwhile - the Bethesda boys go on the record to officially apologize for Mariah.

The format of the interview is pretty erratic, and I'm sorry for that. I had a tape recorder, and the whole conversation was recorded from beginning to end, but deciphering and writing down the tape afterwards was not exactly straightforward. The guys (KR, TH and MK) were not making it any easier for me. Besides, the tape recorder was cheap.

There are also some pictures that I made on that day. I'll publish them, too, together with the interview, at my earliest convenience.

By the way, we (site staff) apologize for occasional JavaScript error messages that pop up when you open TIL. It's not our fault - the ad script of Gamingsource causes them. We cannot do squat to fix it, save for removing the reference to the ad script altogether, which will end us in hot water with the host faster than you can say "Nchuleftingth".

The theme for this update is Game Introductions.

I noticed that the introduction in the Morrowind game manual wasn't much of a "Lore" introduction. Luckily, I found the introduction that was published in the Official Guide to The Elder Scrolls III: The Morrowind Prophecies.

I placed this Morrowind introduction, along with the Arena and Daggerfall introductions, into a new section of the Library.

Behold! Game Introductions

Added a certain oft-overlooked piece of Tamriel literature to the Redguard Books. We're a lore site... We collect important texts of grave significance and unquestionable literary merit... Can you tell I'm trying to be serious here?

Also, I'm done commenting "36 Lessons of Vivec" from beginning to end. Check out the preface, too. Vivec's a lying politician. For details, look inside.

Recently, I managed to reinstall Daggerfall on my XP. I use a really powerful program: Connectix' Virtual PC, and my character was running smoothly in Daggerfall. Before, it was difficult to move in Daggerfall when I used Windows XP. I have now Virtual PC, and then I installed the old Windows 98 on the Virtual PC, and in the end Daggerfall. Um... a little bit too technical, yes? Anyway, so far I can play Daggerfall just fine but I haven't gone to deep into the game, I still need time to adjust my eyes to blocky world of Daggerfall. Even I got a terrible dizzy last night when I taste the Direnni Tower. I hope the Daggerfall bugs with higher clock PC and XP dissapear. Unfortunatelly, Virtual PC is not free. It is now owned by Microsoft. Ah well, I have something for you esteemed visitors. I have something that been requested from time to time. A better images of Daedra Princes. This is the best that can be acquired from Daggerfall CD. The zip file is on the Book of Daedra. Check it out.

I added Approaching Vivec to Morrowind Books section. It was originally here, but when MW released and I saw the same document now titled Vivec and Mephala, I deleted the book, not to realize that the original Approaching Vivec is slightly different and contains some material that may considered mature. Obviously they were deleted in in-game book. Now it's back here.

February 7th, 2004 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Lately we did some updating to the old pages. You can find new references/links added to the timeline section, for helping you understand an event in Tamriel history. Other than that, the 36 Lessons of Vivec got new preface. A page full of information about the lessons, the history behind them and the mysterious writer.

Enjoy!

A great bit of news for all you code cracking buffs out there - Joe Jinis and Nuage from French team Judgehype have decoded the letters sent from Master Aryon to Divayth Fyr and back! So, I've added Divayth Fyr's originally encoded letter and both of the decoded versions to the Morrowind Books section.

Because I know you are lazy :), Divayth Fyr's encoded message is here, Aryon's decoded message is here and Divayth Fyr's decoded message is here.

Enjoy!

Not a site update, but a newsworthy piece of information. The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages - also known as The UESP - has moved to a new host at http://www.uesp.net. Update your bookmarks.

For those of you who celebrate it...

Merry Christmas

December 4th, 2003 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Hey there...

I just added several letters/books to Morrowind Books section. Some of them are Sottilde's Code Book, Hospitality Papers, Ghost-Free Papers, and Note to Amaya. After all these months (years?), I can still find some books/letters that are not in this library. Heh heh, Morrowind is never cease to amaze me... I wonder what will Bethsoft do next. I certainly cannot wait for the fourth!

Oh yeah people, I want to remind you that we accept fans submission. If you have some interesting writing about TES lore, don't hesitate to post it in the Storyboard for us to read and enjoy. If it's good enough, we will publish it permanently in Forum Scholars Guild section. For sure there are some guidelines, but don't let these little guidelines stop your creativities.

November 27th, 2003 - Striker - «Discuss this»

Phew, it's been a while since there was an update huh? Well, for all you crazy kids who enjoy learning about everything Dwemer, this will interest you greatly - Aquiantus and Nigedo have launched their Academy for Dwemer Studies! On these pages, you will find quite a lot of information regarding the Dwemer language, as well as being able to view a working Dwemer Orrery (From TES:A - Redguard) - and more. So head on over, and who knows... you might even learn something!

Oh, and I've added a link to the Academy on the left.

Heya... This is Xan again. Just want to tell you that we (Qwerty and me) fixed some issues in the Morrowind Books section. First of all I want to thanks to Kelly Sudbeck and Mafafu. Kelly informed me that the Black Arrow link in Morrowind Books section led to nowhere, and produced 404. Now it fixed. Mafafu told me that we didn't have Prayers of Baranat book. So yesterday, I visited Vivec city and asked Jobasha for the book. He found the book and sold it to me, the price is well... high. Ah anyway, we have the book now here. Enjoy.

October 14th, 2003 - Striker - «Discuss this»

The updates just keep coming, and today is a big one.

First off, we've added three new articles to the Forum Scholars Guild pages.
The first is an interesting article by Black Wind about the Great House Dres. Since there isn't much in-game information about House Dres, Black Wind has mixed various parts of the other Great Houses with real life and come up with a pretty good description.
The next article is by Phil and is regarding the Incident at Rimmen. The article uses in-game references and comes to an interesting conclusion.
The final article is a Dwemer Energy study written by TSBasilisk from the point of view of the Battlemage Harold Trontskii. It uses known information to give a logical summary on how the Dwemer constructs are powered.
Thanks to everyone that sumbitted an article, and keep them coming!

Also added is a new section listing (With pictures) all of the Redguard Books. Due to the way the textures were created, some of the books are hard to read, but don't let that stop you. Special thanks to OldFossil for sending in the pictures.

The last addition is to the Morrowind Books section - it now includes all of the Dwemer Schematics found in the game.

Well, that's all for now (like it wasn't enough) so enjoy!

October 9th, 2003 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Hey people... Some updating here. The latest post of Vehk has been added to the Vehk's Teaching and then I added another entry in Dog Ate My Homework section about N'Gasta's book. Check it out. I also archived some of the news to make loading this page faster.

I know that some of you scholars (Aquiantus, Nigedo and some more) are working hard to decipher Dwemer Alphabet/Language. What I can do here is just saying Good Luck. I myself am lacking of time and wit to do that. heh heh... Aquiantus has some interesting report on his website here. So if you are fascinated with the language of this now extinct race of Tamriel, go ahead visit the site.

One more thing... The library is lacking of the books from Redguard. I have received some text of the books that was painfully written down by Aquiantus from the screen. The problem is that this text doesn't have pictures. So anyone if you know how to capture the books on screen please send the screenshots to me. Yeah, I know that it's hard to run Redguard with nowadays PC. :-(

Here's a quick bit of Library reorganization:

I moved my Dragon Break Study to the Forum Scholars Guild section of the Library. I removed the link on the left.

'Tis all

October 1st, 2003 - Striker - «Discuss this»

Well, it's official, the Forum Scholars Guild has now been added to the Imperial Library. This Guild is devoted to the intelligent dicussion of Elder Scrolls games and lore. Currently there are a couple of articles and a few 'rules' to give you an idea of what the Guild is all about and how to submit your own work.

If you think you've got what it takes, submit your works to the Storyboard, and who knows, you might even get it published as a Guild article!

Oh, and need I mention the Forum Scholars Guild link added to the menu bar?

Another update!

Have you ever wondered why there aren't any dragons in Morrowind? Well, stroll on over to Dog Ate My Homework to find out.

Also, Qwerty added two new documents to the Obscure Texts. One is Michael Kirkbride's Christmas greeting, and the other one is a recount of a certain in-char discussion at the Redguard forum.

I hope you enjoy everything!

September 24th, 2003 - Striker - «Discuss this»

The Imperial Library is pleased to announce the addition of another Librarian - Me (Striker)! Some of you may know me from the forums, others from Destination: Morrowind, either way, I've been asked to help out at this great site.

Other than that, I don't have any other news to report, so carry on.

September 20th, 2003 - Xan - «Discuss this»

"What that?" "It's a bird!" "It's a cliff racer!" "No, it's a super duck! *cough* *cough* ..well I mean It's a new logo!"

Yes guys and gals, we have new logo and other minor changes. The Real LifeTM was quite boring, so I played around with the old Photoshop. So here is the result. Perhaps then you'll ask: "how about the whole new design?" I just can say right now that the new design is not going to happen, at least for now. I don't have strength to redesign the whole site. No no... don't send anymore Potion of Strength! I have enough here.

And now, enjoy the new design ...um, I mean logo! And I hope you'll not get bored visiting this site.

September 13th, 2003 - B - «Discuss this»

Hey everybody! Here is a minor update. I went through the History of Tamriel timeline and cleaned things up a bit. It wasn't anything monumental, just changed a word or two here and there. I'll probably make a second pass in a couple of weeks in case I missed anything.

Also, Xan has updated the PGE with a few small notes and some new maps from official ES.

Enjoy!

September 10th, 2003 - Qwerty - «Discuss this»

Hello everyone, this is Qwerty, the Reclusive Webmaster. As we all can see, good old m0use.net is knocked out and shows no signs of recovery whatsoever. In an ongoing effort to preserve what was good about it, I've decided that Gamingsource will be a better place for The Storyboard, the famed forum of The Essential Site. Please get me right; I'm not merging TIL and TES, and I'm not going (at least for now) to transfer any more TES content here. It's just that I miss The Storyboard. :)

So there, my Esteemed Readers, The Imperial Library now has its own forum.

Since it's a hasty transfer job, at first the forum might be buggy and somewhat sloppy. For example, the images won't load. I'll eventually bring things into shape. For now, we just have the barebones functionality. I'm not sure about the design yet; maybe some day I'll make it TIL-style as well; maybe we'll keep Andel Crodo's disco era-style abomination of a layout, just for old times' sake. Maybe we'll come up with a compromise - say, the infamous back-and-forward glowing green thingy on TIL's conservative brown background.

As you Storyboard regulars might notice, the new, transplanted forum kept all the recent topics and messages from the way if was before the last crash. It's not a miracle. When Storyboard was crashing back on m0use, the script would wipe out the index page. It did so last time as well. But I, Qwerty (I'm shamelessly bragging here) wrote a program that would - here's the nifty part - recreate the index page, together with all the threads, from the messages directory that was intact. So there you go, The Storyboard almost as it was. If you encounter an error or two, please don't get mad, just e-mail us.

September 6th, 2003 - Xan - «Discuss this»

For couple of days I tested some searching tools, but I found that nothing as good as the old Picosearch.com offered. Basically, I want to use Gaming Source’s own searching tool to reduce bandwidth. You know that each time we update the site; we have to re-index the pages. The total size of text files in the library is about 15 megabytes, so each time we update we use the 15 megabytes bandwidth for re-indexing. If the searching tool is inside the Gaming Source, the bandwidth usage is nothing. I did some tests and the Gaming Source searching tool sometime fails to get the right document. Even the tool could not find the documents with “Dagoth Ur” word in them. Then I decided to use the old trusty Picosearch again and to hell with the bandwidth. ^_^

Other thing, one document is updated today. I have some free time last week and I wasted that time by revisiting the old Arena. So here it is, the Famous Places of Tamriel is updated. Now the page contains all the speech of Ria Silmane, and contains also a little hint about the whereabout of the Staff of Chaos after the Imperial Simulacrum period.

Heya... just wanna say something: Today is the fifth year anniversary for TIL, yay! I wish I could give you a piece of cake or something. Now we are five years old. ^_^

Some milestones in our five years, incase you want to know our long journey…

September 1, 1998 - Xanathar's Library is launched as a library of Elder Scrolls and DragonLance. Hosted by Xoom - http://www.xoom.com.

July 25, 1999 - Moves to m0use.net after an annoying advertising rule of Xoom.

January 21th, 2001 - Qwerty takes over the ownership of the library.

July 27th, 2002 - Xan (Xanathar) is back on the library to help Qwerty. The DragonLance material is removed completely from the library. The design of the library is completely changed.

October 6th, 2002 - Raptormeat joins as the librarian in the library.

July 14th, 2003 - B joins as the librarian in the library.

August 17th, 2003 - Moves to Gaming Source after m0use.net server problems.

That's it, and now let's party!

August 29th, 2003 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Just added some more maps to the maps section, and added the introduction to Daggerfall, taken from Daggerfall manual. Enjoy...

August 25th, 2003 - B - «Discuss this»

There are a few changes today. The Sermon Zero Analysis and Dragon Broke Study have been moved to the main directory of the Library. You can access them using the menu scroll on the side.

Secondly, I removed "The B Hive" section. It may resurface at another point in time.

And finally, I have added the Fourth Secret Message to the Sermon Zero Analysis. It was discovered by The Theoretical Whirling School Of Vivec. Many thanks for all of their hard work.

August 23rd, 2003 - Xan - «Discuss this»

Finally the new lore website about all the teaching of Vivec has resurfaced. It’s The Theoretical Whirling School Of Vivec.

And by the way, the long awaiting fourth secret of Sermon Zero is unleashed and can be found within school’s halls. I am sure B would be interested on this. :-)

August 22nd, 2003 - Xan - «Discuss this»

First of all I want to say THANK YOU to all the people that help spread the word that we moved, including these are Dalin of Morrowind Summit, Striker of Destination: Morrowind, Dale Cooper of Gamers Roam, Tegger (she changed her signature for helping spread the word, imagine that!), Dark0ne (again) of Morrowind Source, and Pete, the PR of Bethsoft (ah com'on, you know him) for putting our new link on the official Elder Scrolls site. I am sure that there are more people that help spread the word but I don't know, let me say Thank you...

Other thanks goes to Jim Williams (malapropt) for informing us that there are some dead links on Daggerfacts page. I fixed it and btw I can't replay your email - dunno why. And here now... I updated two pages: The Book of Daedra and Famous Places of Tamriel There are some new information in Book of Daedra, such as the Bloodmoon Prophecy and the source of Vampirism. The Places of Tamriel holds some more information regarding the Arena's dungeons and gameplay.

And one more thing, I received a lots of virus/worm contaminated emails. Please be careful with your mailing, especially with this intelligent W32.Sobig.F@mm worm. Careful guys...

August 16th, 2003 - Xan - «Discuss this»

We're back!!

Well, if you see this page then you know that we have moved. First of all, I want to thank Dark0ne for giving us a free space. Okay now, update your bookmark!

Along with this moving I updated the timeline again, especially the Second Era. Thanks to Nigedo and Phil_t for pointing some interesting information. Other than that I would like also to thanks Mafafu for informing us that we missed another Morrowind Books, Unnamed Book. The book is now here in the library. And now, enjoy the library... on the new place.

   August 6th, 2003 - Xan

We have a serious problem. The m0use server has run out of space. I managed to get some free space by deleting some big files just for this update. Oh yeah thanks to Dave Humphrey of UESP as he has deleted some of his files as well. Okay today I updated the timeline and Famous Places of Tamriel (just changed the wav to mp3 to save space). *sigh*

   July 28th, 2003 - B

Hey everyone! Just a quick fix here. One of the Arena maps in the Tamriel Maps section wasn’t loading properly so I corrected the error. Now you can enjoy the Skyrim map once again. A special thanks goes to Friar Tuck for spotting the problem. We really appreciate it when people help us out. Qwerty, Xan, and Raptormeat have done some incredible work here, but it helps to have some extra eyes catching things that may have slipped through the cracks.

   July 26th, 2003 - Xan

As I said in the previous update that there will be an update to the Book of Daedra so here it comes, I have updated the Book of Daedra section with a shot of Hircine Ring. Currently I am still collecting some information about the Bloodmoon Prophecy. When it's ready it will be put also into that page. Also in this updating, the Vampire page is updated as well with some information about Ancient Vampires and Rogue Vampires along with some nice shots.

   July 23rd, 2003 - Xan

Yeah, it's Xan again... Today I tweaked again the web design of the library, you can see now that the search service is integrated to each page, and you can do searching without leaving the current page that you are reading at. The left menu is again modified so you can know which information is official and which one is home made. But I assure you that this home made articles and compilation are worth reading as they may contain more information than the official text. We collected them all from forums and some by asking directly to the developers at Bethsoft. So enjoy...

I updated also the Vampire section. Now this section contains also the Vvardenfell Vampire information. By the way, if you know something that is not written in the page, please contact me. My email can be seen on the left menu. Other than the vampire, I updated again the Tamriel Timeline after an error that was spotted by Brendan. Thanks Brendan! Again, if you spotted an error or a missing event in the timeline, please please please tell me. Oh yeah, I updated also the Famous Places of Tamriel, nothing new just removing out of date information. I still need to update the Book of Daedra with new information from Bloodmoon, but I think this is for later update.

   July 14th, 2003 - B

Hello! I guess I should introduce myself. My name is B, and I will be helping out around here. Some of you may know me from the official forums. It is a great honor and a pleasure to be a part of The Imperial Library.

Other than that, I really don't have anything else to add, so enjoy the rest of your visit.

   July 12th, 2003 - Xan

Heya... Just updated Dragon Broke Study in the B Hive. That's for now. Enjoy...

Stay tune for something big in couple of days...

   July 8th, 2003 - Xan

Just as I finished the launching of The B Hive, Nazz has finished his report about the Rieklings. This interesting analysis of the Rieklings can be read in his section: Lore Rant on the Moment. Are these Rieklings infact Falmer? A big question...

I forgot to mention last time that the 36 Lessons of Vivec has been updated with the secret message. Now you can find the secret message (no longer secret now, I believe) here in the library. I added also one more Bloodmoon book and one Tribunal letter. All of them can be found in Morrowind Books section. Well, I am in the mood of updating the library, so now the maps section has also been updated with two more maps. One of them is Solstheim map.

Now, as I have added the information from the threads in the official forum (Sermon Zero and Secret message of 36 sermons), I decided to delete the two links to the particular information.

Oh yeah, one more thing... I would like to thanks Ana for informing us that we missed one book. The book with title Progress of Truth. I just can't believe that we overlooked that important book. It's added now.

That's it... Lemme check again what I wrote... Yes that's all, I hope I didn't misspelled the words. ;-)

   July 7th, 2003 - Xan

I have started to fill the Morrowind Books section with the books from Bloodmoon. For now, I have added three books: The Story of Aevar Stone-Singer, Sovngarde, a Reexamination and Thirsk, a History. Other than that, I have added the old Where were you when the Dragon Broke? that we received from Michael Kirkbride long time ago. This one has a section that was somehow cut out in the game version. I have also sorted the left navigational menu and put some space for easy reading.

And, today I am very happy to announce that there is a new section in the library. It's called The B Hive. Perhaps, you all the loremasters that keep visiting the official forum know who this "B". That's from me and now, why are you still here? Go ahead enter the hive!

   June 27th, 2003 - Xan

Well well... what's this? Another update? Yeah, you got it! I collected most of Vehk's (Michael Kirkbride) posts, and put them into a new section in this library. It's called Vehk's Teaching. Some interesting but obscure topic in Elder Scrolls, like Dragon Broke and Psijic Endeavour are explained in this teaching. If you follow the discussion in the Official Forum, you can see that the discussion is not yet finished, but Vehk doesn't post anymore. Hopefully he will be back answering lore-hungry fans' questions.

Now Bloodmoon has already out, and I know that there are some interesting books in the expansion. I plan to put these books here asap. So, stay tune...

   June 26th, 2003 - Qwerty

Put together some bits and pieces from distant past, all united by a common theme: why this particular shortcoming of a certain Elder Scrolls title is not actually a shortcoming. See the history of Bethesda's official spin, now documented for everyone to see, in Dog Ate My Homework.

   June 8th, 2003 - Xan

Greetings... Sorry for the lack of update. Here I just did a very minor update to the Tamriel Timeline. Brendan reported that I made an error in the timeline. I made error by stating that Knahaten Flu is the same as Crimson Plague. I want to clear this now that the Crimson Plague is not Knahaten Flu. Knahaten Flu was in Black Marsh and rumored that the plague caused by the native Argonian. While the Crimson Plague is a disease created by Sload in the west of Tamriel, Thras.
